Owing to their high efficiency, low‐cost solution‐processability, and tunable bandgap, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) made of hybrid organic‐inorganic perovskite (HOIP) thin films are promising top‐cell candidates for integration with bottom‐cells based on Si or other low‐bandgap solar‐cell materials to boost the power conversion efficiency (PCE) beyond the Shockley‐Quiesser (S‐Q) limit. In this review, recent progress in such tandem solar cells based on the emerging PSCs is summarized and reviewed critically. Notable achievements for different tandem solar cell configurations including mechanically‐stacked, optical coupling, and monolithically‐integrated with PSCs as top‐cells are described in detail. Highly‐efficient semitransparent PSC top‐cells with high transmittance in near‐infrared (NIR) region are critical for tandem solar cells. Different types of transparent electrodes with high transmittance and low sheet‐resistance for PSCs are reviewed, which presents a grand challenge for PSCs. The strategies to obtain wide‐bandgap PSCs with good photo‐stability are discussed. The PCE reduction due to reflection loss, parasitic absorption, electrical loss, and current mismatch are analyzed to provide better understanding of the performance of PSC‐based tandem solar cells.  相似文献

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have made rapid advances in efficiency when fabricated as small‐area devices. A key challenge is to increase the active area while retaining high performance, which requires fast and reliable measurement techniques to spatially resolve cell properties. Luminescence imaging‐based techniques are one attractive possibility. A thermodynamic treatment of the luminescence radiation from MAPbI3 and related perovskite semiconductors predicts that the intensity of luminescence emission is proportional to the electrochemical potential in the perovskite absorber, bringing with it numerous experimental advantages. However, concerns arise about the impact of the often‐observed hysteretic behavior on the interpretation of luminescence‐based measurements. This study demonstrates that despite their hysteretic phenomena, at steady‐state perovskite solar cells are amenable to quantitative analysis of luminescence images. This is demonstrated by calculating the spatial distribution of series resistance from steady‐state photoluminescence images. This study observes good consistency between the magnitude, voltage‐dependence, and spatial distribution of series resistance calculated from luminescence images and from cell‐level current–voltage curves and uncalibrated luminescence images, respectively. This method has significant value for the development of PSC process control, design and material selection, and illustrates the possibilities for large‐area, spatially resolved, quantitative luminescence imaging‐based characterization of PSCs.  相似文献

State‐of‐the‐art perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have bandgaps that are invariably larger than 1.45 eV, which limits their theoretically attainable power conversion efficiency. The emergent mixed‐(Pb, Sn) perovskites with bandgaps of 1.2–1.3 eV are ideal for single‐junction solar cells according to the Shockley–Queisser limit, and they have the potential to deliver higher efficiency. Nevertheless, the high chemical activity of Sn(II) in these perovskites makes it extremely challenging to control their physical properties and chemical stability, thereby leading to PSCs with relatively low PCE and stability. In this work, the authors employ the Lewis‐adduct SnF2·3FACl additive in the solution‐processing of ideal‐bandgap halide perovskites (IBHPs), and prepare uniform large‐grain perovskite thin films containing continuously functionalized grain boundaries with the stable SnF2 phase. Such Sn(II)‐rich grain‐boundary networks significantly enhance the physical properties and chemical stability of the IBHP thin films. Based on this approach, PSCs with an ideal bandgap of 1.3 eV are fabricated with a promising efficiency of 15.8%, as well as enhanced stability. The concept of Lewis‐adduct‐mediated grain‐boundary functionalization in IBHPs presented here points to a new chemical route for approaching the Shockley–Queisser limit in future stable PSCs.  相似文献

Metal halide perovskite materials, benefiting from a combination of outstanding optoelectronic properties and low‐cost solution‐preparation processes, show tremendous potential for optoelectronics and photovoltaics. However, the nanoscale inhomogeneities of the electronic properties of perovskite materials cause a number of difficulties, such as recombination, stability, and hysteresis, all of which seriously restrict device performance. Scanning probe microscopy, as a high‐resolution imaging technique, has been widely used to connect local properties and micro‐area morphologies to overall device performance. Conductive atomic force microscopy (C‐AFM) can realize a real‐space visualization of topography coupled with optoelectronic properties on a microscopic scale and thereby is uniquely suited to probe the local effects of perovskite materials and devices. The fundamental principles, alternative operation modes, and development of C‐AFM are comprehensively reviewed, and applications in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) for electronic transport behavior, ion migration and hysteresis, ferroelectric polarization, and facet orientation investigation are discussed. A comprehensive understanding and summary of up‐to‐date applications in PSCs is beneficial to further fully exploit the potential of such an emerging technique, so as to provide a novel and effective approach for perovskite materials analysis.  相似文献

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have recently received considerable attention due to the high energy conversion efficiency achieved within a few years of their inception. However, a machine learning (ML) approach to guide the development of high‐performing PSCs is still lacking. In this paper ML is used to optimize material composition, develop design strategies, and predict the performance of PSCs. The ML models are developed using 333 data points selected from about 2000 peer reviewed publications. These models guide the design of new perovskite materials and the development of high‐performing solar cells. Based on ML guidance, new perovskite compositions are experimentally synthesized to test the practicability of the model. The ML model also shows its ability to predict underlying physical phenomena as well as the performance of PSCs. The PSC model matches well with the theoretical prediction by the Shockley and Queisser limit, which is almost impossible for a human to find from an ensemble of data points. Moreover, strategies for developing high‐performing PSCs with different bandgaps are also derived from the model. These findings show that ML is very promising not only for predicting the performance, but also for providing a deeper understanding of the physical phenomena associated with the PSCs.  相似文献

Instability in perovskite solar cells is the main challenge for the commercialization of this solar technology. Here, a contactless, nondestructive approach is reported to study degradation across perovskite and perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells. The technique employs spectrally and spatially resolved absorptivity at sub‐bandgap wavelengths of perovskite materials, extracted from their luminescence spectra. Parasitic absorption in other layers, carrier diffusion, and photon smearing phenomena are all demonstrated to have negligible effects on the extracted absorptivity. The absorptivity is demonstrated to reflect real degradation in the perovskite film and is much more robust and sensitive than its luminescence spectral peak position, representing its optical bandgap, and intensity. The technique is applied to study various common factors which induce and accelerate degradation in perovskite solar cells including air and heat exposure and light soaking. Finally, the technique is employed to extract the individual absorptivity component from the perovskite layer in a monolithic perovskite/silicon tandem structure. The results demonstrate the value of this approach for monitoring degradation mechanisms in perovskite and perovskite/silicon tandem cells at early stages of degradation and various fabrication stages.  相似文献

Over the past few years, hybrid halide perovskites have emerged as a highly promising class of materials for photovoltaic technology, and the power conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) has accelerated at an unprecedented pace, reaching a record value of over 22%. In the context of PSC research, wide‐bandgap semiconducting metal oxides have been extensively studied because of their exceptional performance for injection and extraction of photo‐generated carriers. In this comprehensive review, we focus on the synthesis and applications of metal oxides as electron and hole transporters in efficient PSCs with both mesoporous and planar architectures. Metal oxides and their doped variants with proper energy band alignment with halide perovskites, in the form of nanostructured layers and compact thin films, can not only assist with charge transport but also improve the stability of PSCs under ambient conditions. Strategies for the implementation of metal oxides with tailored compositions and structures, and for the engineering of their interfaces with perovskites will be critical for the future development and commercialization of PSCs.  相似文献

Solution‐processable halide perovskites have emerged as strong contenders for next‐generation solar cells owing to their favorable optoelectronic properties. To maintain the efficiency momentum of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), development of advanced processing techniques, particularly for the perovskite layer, is imperative. There is a close correlation between the quality of the perovskite layer and its photophysical properties: Highly crystalline large grains with uniform morphology of the perovskite layer and their interface with charge transporters are crucial for achieving high performance. Significant efforts have been dedicated to achieve perovskite films with large grains reaching the millimeter‐scale for high‐efficiency PSCs. Recent work showcases a transition from large grain polycrystalline to single‐crystalline (SC) PSCs made possible by the facile growth of perovskite single crystals. In this review, the recent progress of the large grain polycrystalline PSCs and grain boundary‐free SC‐PSCs is reported, particularly focusing on the recent approach of depositing large‐grained perovskite layers and single crystal growth technique, that have been adopted for fabrication of efficient PSCs. In addition, prospects of SC‐PSCs and their further development in terms of efficiency, device design, scalability, and stability are discussed.  相似文献

All‐inorganic CsPbIBr2 perovskite solar cells (pero‐SCs) exhibit excellent overall stability, but their power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) are greatly limited by their wide bandgaps. Integrated solar cells (ISCs) are considered to be an emergent technology that could extend their photoresponse by directly stacking two distinct photoactive layers with complementary bandgaps. However, rising photocurrents always sacrifice other photovoltaic parameters, thereby leading to an unsatisfactory PCE. Here, a recast strategy is proposed to optimize the spatial distribution components of low‐bandgap organic bulk‐heterojunction (BHJ) film, and is combined with an all‐inorganic perovskite to construct perovskite/BHJ ISCs. With this strategy, the integrated perovskite/BHJ film with a top‐enriched donor‐material spatial distribution is shown to effectively improve ambipolar charge transport behavior and suppress charge carrier recombination. For the first time, the ISC is not only significantly extended and enhanced the photoresponse achieving a 20% increase in current density, but also exhibits a high open‐circuit voltage and fill factor at the same time. As a result, a record PCE of 11.08% based on CsPbIBr2 pero‐SCs is realized; it simultaneously shows excellent long‐term stability against heat and ultraviolet light.  相似文献

In this essay, the authors use two properly encapsulated high‐efficiency mesoscopic perovskite solar cells (PSCs), which use a state‐of‐the‐art perovskite composition (HC(NH2)2PbI3)0.85(CH3NH3PbBr3)0.15 with excess PbI2 as the active layer, to demonstrate the potential effect of dynamical electroluminescence responses on the analysis and interpretation of PSCs electrical characteristic. The essay does not aim to determine how to overcome this issue, nor to investigate its physical/chemical origin, although tentative propositions are made; but rather, to warn researchers in the field about the interpretation and reporting the results obtained from luminescence imaging measurements and the effect of image collection timing on the results. This is a critical message since the authors predict that luminescence imaging techniques will soon become one of the key tools for PSCs characterization, both for long‐term stability assessment and fabrication process optimization.  相似文献

Achieving light harvesting is crucial for the efficiency of the solar cell. Constructing optical structures often can benefit from micro‐nanophotonic imprinting. Here, a simple and facile strategy is developed to introduce a large area grating structure into the perovskite‐active layer of a solar cell by utilizing commercial optical discs (CD‐R and DVD‐R) and achieve high photovoltaic performance. The constructed diffraction grating on the perovskite active layer realizes nanophotonic light trapping by diffraction and effectively suppresses carrier recombination. Compared to the pristine perovskite solar cells (PSCs), the diffraction‐grating perovskite devices with DVD obtain higher power conversion efficiency and photocurrent density, which are improved from 16.71% and 21.67 mA cm?2 to 19.71% and 23.11 mA cm?2. Moreover, the stability of the PSCs with diffraction‐grating‐structured perovskite active layer is greatly enhanced. The method can boost photonics merge into the remarkable perovskite materials for various applications.  相似文献

After rapid progress over the past five years, organic–inorganic perovskite solar cells (PSCs) currently exhibit photoconversion efficiencies comparable to the best commercially available photovoltaic technologies. However, instabilities in the materials and devices, primarily due to reactions with water, have kept PSCs from entering the marketplace. Here, laser beam induced current imaging is used to investigate the spatial and temporal evolution of the quantum efficiency of perovskite solar cells under controlled humidity conditions. Several interesting mechanistic aspects are revealed as the degradation proceeds along a four‐stage process. Three of the four stages can be reversed, while the fourth stage leads to irreversible decomposition of the photoactive perovskite material. A series of reactions in the PbI2‐CH3NH3I‐H2O system explains the interplay between the interactions with water and the overall stability. Understanding of the degradation mechanisms of PSCs on a microscopic level gives insight into improving the long‐term stability.  相似文献

The influence of illumination on the long‐term performance of planar structured perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is investigated using fast and spatially resolved luminescence imaging. The authors analyze the effect of illuminated current density–voltage (JV) and light‐soaking measurements on pristine PSCs by providing visual evidence for the spatial inhomogeneous evolution of device performance. Regions that are exposed to light initially produce stronger electroluminescence signals than surrounding unilluminated regions, mainly due to a lower contact resistance and, possibly, higher charge collection efficiency. Over a period of several days, however, these initially illuminated regions appear to degrade more quickly despite the device being stored in a dark, moisture‐ and oxygen‐free environment. Using transmission electron microscopy, this accelerated degradation is attributed to delamination between the perovskite and the titanium dioxide (TiO2) layer. An ion migration mechanism is proposed for this delamination process, which is in accordance with previous current–voltage hysteresis observations. These results provide evidence for the intrinsic instability of CH3NH3PbI3‐based devices under illumination and have major implications for the design of PSCs from the standpoint of long‐term performance and stability.  相似文献

In less than three years, the photovoltaic community has witnessed a rapid emergence of a new class of solid‐state heterojunction solar cells based on solution‐processable organometal halide perovskite absorbers. The energy conversion efficiency of solid‐state perovskite solar cells (PSCs) has been quickly increased to a certified value of 20.1% by the end of 2014 because of their unique characteristics, such as a broad spectral absorption range, large absorption coefficient, high charge carrier mobility and diffusion length. Here, the focus is specifically on recent developments of hole‐transporting materials (HTMs) in PSCs, which are essential components for achieving high solar cell efficiencies. Some fundamentals with regard to PSCs are first presented, including the history of PSCs, device architectures and general operational principles of PSCs as well as various techniques developed for the fabrications of uniform and dense perovskite complexes. A broad range of the state‐of‐the‐art HTMs being used in PSCs are then discussed in detail. Finally, an outlook on the design of more efficient HTMs for highly efficient PSCs is addressed.  相似文献

In most current state‐of‐the‐art perovskite solar cells (PSCs), high‐temperature (≈500 °C)‐sintered metal oxides are employed as electron‐transporting layers (ETLs). To lower the device processing temperature, the development of low‐temperature‐processable ETL materials (such as solution‐processed ZnO) has received growing attention. However, thus far, the use of solution‐processed ZnO is limited because the reverse decomposition reaction that occurs at ZnO/perovskite interfaces significantly degrades the charge collection and stability of PSCs. In this work, the reverse decomposition reaction is successfully retarded by sulfur passivation of solution‐processed ZnO. The sulfur passivation of ZnO by a simple chemical means, efficiently reduces the oxygen‐deficient defects and surface oxygen‐containing groups, thus effectively preventing reverse decomposition reactions during and after formation of the perovskite active layers. Using the low‐temperature‐processed sulfur‐passivated ZnO (ZnO–S), perovskite layers with higher crystallinity and larger grain size are obtained, while the charge extraction at the ZnO/perovskite interface is significantly improved. As a result, the ZnO–S‐based PSCs achieve substantially improved power‐conversion‐efficiency (PCE) (19.65%) and long‐term air‐storage stability (90% retention after 40 d) compared with pristine ZnO‐based PSCs (16.51% and 1% retention after 40 d). Notably, the PCE achieved is the highest recorded (19.65%) for low‐temperature ZnO‐based PSCs.  相似文献

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have shown great potential for photovoltaic applications with their unprecedented power conversion efficiency advancement. Such devices generally have a complex structure design with high temperature processed TiO2 as the electron transport layer (ETL). Further careful design of device configuration to fully tap the potentials of perovskite materials is expected. Particularly, for the practical application of PSCs, it is crucial to simplify their device structures thus the associated manufacturing process and cost while maintaining their efficiency to be comparable with the conventional devices. But how simple is simple? ETL‐free PSCs promise the simplest structured, thus simple manufacturing processes and low cost large area PSCs in practical applications. They can also help the further exploration of the great potential of perovskite materials and understanding the working principle of PSCs. Within this review, the evolution of the PSC is outlined by discussing the recent advances in the simplification of device configuration and processes for cost effective, highly efficient, and robust PSCs, with a focus on ETL‐free PSCs. Their advancement, key issues, working mechanism, existing problems, and future performance enhancements. This review aims to promote the future development of low cost and robust ETL‐free PSCs toward more efficient power output.  相似文献

Formamidinium (FA)‐based lead iodide perovskites have emerged as the most promising light‐absorber materials in the prevailing perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, they suffer from the phase‐instability issue in the ambient atmosphere, which is holding back the realization of the full potential of FA‐based PSCs in the context of high efficiency and stability. Herein, the tetraethylorthosilicate hydrolysis process is integrated with the solution crystallization of FA‐based perovskites, forming a new film structure with individual perovskite grains encapsulated by amorphous silica layers that are in situ formed at the nanoscale. The silica not only protects perovskite grains from the degradation but also enhances the charge‐carrier dynamics of perovskite films. The underlying mechanism is discussed using a joint experiment‐theory approach. Through this in situ grain encapsulation method, PSCs show an efficiency close to 20% with an impressive 97% retention after 1000‐h storage under ambient conditions.  相似文献

The hole transporting layer (HTL) plays an important role in realizing efficient and stable perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In spite of intensive research efforts toward the development of HTL materials, low‐cost, dopant‐free hole transporting materials that lead to efficient and stable PSCs remain elusive. Herein, a simple polycyclic heteroaromatic hydrocarbon‐based small molecule, 2,5,9,12‐tetra(tert‐butyl)diacenaphtho[1,2‐b:1′,2′‐d]thiophenen, as an efficient HTL material in PSCs is presented. This molecule is easy to synthesize and inexpensive. It is hydrophobic and exhibits excellent film‐forming properties on perovskites. It has unusually high hole mobility and a desirable highest occupied molecular orbital energy level, making it an ideal HTL material. PSCs fabricated using both the n‐i‐p planar and mesoscopic architectures with this compound as the HTL show efficiencies as high as 15.59% and 18.17%, respectively, with minimal hysteresis and high long term stability under ambient conditions.  相似文献

Inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with low‐temperature processed hole transporting materials (HTMs) suffer from poor performance due to the inferior hole‐extraction capability at the HTM/perovskite interfaces. Here, molecules with controlled electron affinity enable a HTM with conductivity improved by more than ten times and a decreased energy gap between the Fermi level and the valence band from 0.60 to 0.24 eV, leading to the enhancement of hole‐extraction capacity by five times. As a result, the 3,6‐difluoro‐2,5,7,7,8,8‐hexacyanoquinodimethane molecules are used for the first time enhancing open‐circuit voltage (Voc) and fill factor (FF) of the PSCs, which enable rigid‐and flexible‐based inverted perovskite devices achieving highest power conversion efficiencies of 22.13% and 20.01%, respectively. This new method significantly enhances the Voc and FF of the PSCs, which can be widely combined with HTMs based on not only NiOx but also PTAA, PEDOTT:PSS, and CuSCN, providing a new way of realizing efficient inverted PSCs.  相似文献
