Objective

Check if the Temporal flow response to Tilt could provide early hemodynamic pattern in the minutes preceding a syncope during the Tilt test performed after a 60-d head down bedrest (HDBR).

Method

Twenty-one men divided into 3 groups [Control (Con), Resistive Vibration (RVE) and Chinese Herb (Herb)] underwent a 60 day HDBR. Pre and Post HDBR a 20 min Tilt identified Finishers (F) and Non Finishers (NF). Cerebral (MCA), Temporal (TEMP), Femoral (FEM) flow velocity, were measured by Doppler during the Tilt. Blood pressure (BP) was measured by arm cuff and cardiopress.

Results and Discussion

Four of the 21 subjects were NF at the post HDBR Tilt test (Con gr:2, RVE gr: 1, Herb gr: 1). At 1 min and 10 s before end of Tilt in NF gr, FEM flow decreased less and MCA decreased more at post HDBR Tilt compared to pre (p<0.05), while in the F gr they changed similarly as pre. In NF gr: TEMP flow decreased more at post HDBR Tilt compared to pre, but only at 10 s before the end of Tilt (P<0.05). During the last 10 s a negative TEMP diastolic component appeared which induced a drop in mean velocity until Tilt arrest.

Conclusion

The sudden drop in TEMP flow with onset of a negative diastolic flow preceding the decrease in MCA flow confirm that the TEMP vascular resistance respond more directly than the cerebral one to the cardiac output redistribution and that this response occur several seconds before syncope.  相似文献

The autism spectrum disorders (ASD) comprise a group of neurobehavioral phenotypes of heterogeneous etiology. In spite of a worldwide extensive research effort to unravel the genetic mystery of autism, medical geneticists are still facing an embarrassing lack of knowledge in dealing with the diagnosis, and consequently prognosis, of a child with autism. However, some lessons can be learned from accumulating experience in the clinical and molecular genetic evaluation of children with this condition. Sometime during the early spring of 1970 I was asked to write an account of our old minute books and was given a large box containing many books and sundry papers. All the old books were there and in good condition, except the first–1811 to 1815. So I wrote a report lamenting the absence of this book, but afterwards it turned up. It had never been lost, but being rather different from all the others it was not recognized. I now think this was rather fortunate, for the first book which is the most interesting, deserves ampler treatment. My report is kept strictly on the books, and only very occasionally have I drawn on information from the Society's records, or from the introduction to the list of the Club compiled by H. W. The International Symposium on Chromaffin Cell Biology (ISCCB) brings together a group of approximately 150 scientists from around the world who meet every 2 years to discuss recent advances in our understanding of biogenesis and motion of secretory vesicles, synthesis, storage and release of secreted products (catecholamines, chromogranins, ATP), and mechanisms involving the excitation-secretion coupling, membrane ion channels, intracellular calcium homeostasis and exocytosis. The development of new technologies that allow an accurate measurement of catecholamines, vesicle motion, exocytosis, etc. are also analyzed. The 12th ISCCB, organized by Ricardo Borges, took place on September 20-26, 2003, in La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain. Substrate specificity in ubiquitylation is conferred by ubiquitin ligases (E3s). Now, several ways that E3s can interact to mediate ubiquitylation are illustrated for Ubr1 (a RING finger E3) and Ufd4 (a HECT domain E3), in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Angiogenesis recapitulates the growth of blood vessels that progressively expand and remodel into a highly organized and stereotyped vascular network. During adulthood, endothelial cells that formed the vascular wall retain their plasticity and can be engaged in neo-vascularization in response to physiological stimuli, such as hypoxia, wound healing and tissue repair, ovarian cycle and pregnancy. In addition, numerous human diseases and pathological conditions are characterized by an excessive, uncontrolled and aberrant angiogenesis. The signalling pathways involving the small Rho GTPase, Rac and its downstream effector the p21-activated serine/threonine kinase (PAK) had recently emerged as pleiotropic modulators in these processes. Indeed, Rac and PAK were found to modulate endothelial cell biology, such as sprouting, migration, polarity, proliferation, lumen formation, and maturation. Elucidating the Rac/PAK molecular circuitry will provide essential information for the development of new therapeutic agents designed to normalize the blood vasculature in human diseases.  相似文献

We have characterized an immunosuppressive parvovirus related to the minute virus of mice (MVM). The parvovirus, MVM(i), grew efficiently on the murine lymphoma cell line EL-4 and not on the A-9 strain of L-cells which is a host for the prototype MVM. MVM(i) was immunosuppressive for allogeneic mixed leukocyte cultures, inhibiting the generation of cytolytic T lymphocytes. MVM had no effect on mixed leukocyte cultures. MVM and MVM(i) particles were similar in buoyant density, sedimentation rate, appearance in the electron microscope, and polypeptide composition. We present restriction enzyme maps of the DNAs of MVM and MVM(i) which show that they are closely related. Out of 109 restriction endonuclease cleavage sites (representing together about 10% of the nucleotide sequence), 86 sites were shared by MVM and MVM(i), whereas 22 sites were absent from one of the two viruses. MVM(i) DNA had an apparent deletion of about 60 nucleotides relative to MVM, located near the 5' terminus of viral DNA.  相似文献

Immunotoxins consist of monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies conjugated to bacterial or plant toxins. The toxins used are typically of the A-B type in which a toxic A chain is coupled to a B chain responsible for cell binding and facilitation of A chain entry into the cytosol. Two broad strategies have been followed: coupling intact toxins, or A chains alone, to antibodies. This review examines current progress inin vitro andin vivo research, including recent clinical studies, concentrating principally on ricin or ricin A chain conjugates. The future role of conjugates using membrane-acting toxins, immunolysins, is also discussed.  相似文献
