Successional changes in belowground ectomycorrhizal fungal (EMF) communities have been observed with increasing forest stand age; however, mechanisms behind this change remain unclear. It has been hypothesized that declines of inorganic nitrogen (N) and increases of organic N influence changes in EMF taxa over forest development. In a post-wildfire chronosequence of six jack pine (Pinus banksiana) stands ranging in age from 5 to 56 years, we investigated EMF community composition and compared shifts in taxa with detailed soluble inorganic and organic N data. Taxa were identified by internal transcribed spacer rDNA sequencing, and changes in community composition evaluated with non-metric multi-dimensional scaling (NMDS). Dissimilarities in the community data were tested for correlations with N variables. We observed a successional shift along NMDS axis 1 from such taxa as Suillus brevipes and Thelephora terrestris in sites age 5 and 11 to species of Cortinarius and Russula, among others, in the four older sites. This change was positively correlated with soluble organic N (SON) (r 2 = 0.902, P = 0.033) and free amino-acid N (r 2 = 0.945, P = 0.021), but not inorganic N. Overall, our results show a successional shift of EMF communities occurring between stand initiation and canopy closure without a change in species of the dominant plant–host, and associated with SON and free amino-acid N in soil. It is uncertain whether EMF taxa are responding to these organic N forms directly, affecting their availability, or are ultimately responding to changes in other site variables, such as belowground productivity.  相似文献

Forest fires often result in a series of biogeochemical processes that increase soil nitrate (NO3 ?) concentrations for several years; however, the dynamic nature of inorganic nitrogen (N) cycling in the plant–microbe–soil complex makes it challenging to determine the direct causes of increased soil NO3 ?. We measured gross inorganic N transformation rates in mineral soils 2 years after wildfires in three central Idaho coniferous forests to determine the causes of the elevated soil NO3 ?. We also measured key factors that could affect the soil N processes, including temperature during soil incubation in situ, soil water content, pH and carbon (C) availability. We found no significant differences (P = 0.461) in gross nitrification rates between burned and control soils. However, microbial NO3 ? uptake rates were significantly lower (P = 0.078) in burned than control soils. The reduced consumption of NO3 ? caused slightly elevated NO3 ? concentrations in the burned soils. C availability was positively correlated with microbial NO3 ? uptake rates. Despite reduced microbial NO3 ? uptake capacity in the burned soils, soil microbes were a strong enough N sink to maintain low soil NO3 ? concentrations 2 years post fire. Soil NH4 + concentrations between the treatments were not significantly different (P = 0.673). However, gross NH4 + production and microbial uptake rates in burned soils were significantly lower (P = 0.028 and 0.035, respectively) than in the controls, and these rates were positively correlated with C availability. Our results imply that C availability is an important factor regulating soil N cycling of coniferous forests in the region.  相似文献

Soybean (Glycine max) agriculture is characterized by a high proportion of mono-cropping which results in reduced crop production in the Northeast China. Among all biotic and abiotic factors, changes in soil microbial communities induced by root activities, especially root exudates, might play an important role in these effects. The aim of the present study was to investigate response of microbial biomass and two major beneficial microbial functional groups, ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB), and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), to root exudates in an experimental field under continuous soybean monoculture for 13 years. The results showed that microbial biomass carbon changed significantly with years of mono-cropping and correlated with concentrations of genistein (r = 0.4399, P < 0.001) and daidzein (r = 0.4082, P < 0.05) in the rhizosphere. However, root exudates had little effect on the nitrifier community, but reduced nitrification in the rhizosphere. In contrast, total AMF hyphal length was significantly stimulated by genistein (r = 0.5252, P < 0.01). There was a trend that AMF spore density increased in the rhizosphere with increasing years of mono-cropping, while AMF infection was constant over time, which might be attributed to competition between AMF and soil-borne fungal pathogens, as the results of stimulatory effect of flavonoids on fungal community, especially fungal pathogens. Our results suggested that the yield reduction in the beginning of continuous soybean monoculture could be partially attributed to nitrogen availability and yield stabilization after few years to stimulatory effects on AMF. These results imply that some of plant root exudates play a crucial role in changing the soil microbial community, and that underground ecosystem functioning is also affected by interactions among microbial functional groups.  相似文献

We present the results of a full year of high-resolution monitoring of hydrologic event-driven export of stream dissolved organic matter (DOM) from the forested Bigelow Brook watershed in Harvard Forest, Massachusetts, USA. A combination of in situ fluorescent dissolved organic matter (FDOM) measurement, grab samples, and bioassays was utilized. FDOM was identified as a strong indicator of concentration for dissolved organic carbon (DOC, r 2 = 0.96), dissolved organic nitrogen (DON, r 2 = 0.81), and bioavailable DOC (BDOC, r 2 = 0.81). Relationships between FDOM and concentration were utilized to improve characterization of patterns of hydrological event-driven export and the quantification of annual export. This characterization was possible because DOM composition remained relatively consistent seasonally; however, a subtle shift to increased fluorescence per unit absorbance was observed for summer and fall seasons and percent BDOC did increase slightly with increasing concentrations. The majority of export occurred during pulsed hydrological events, so the greatest impact of bioavailable exports may be on downstream aquatic ecosystems. Export from individual events was highly seasonal in nature with the highest flow weighted mean concentrations (DOCFW) being observed in late summer and fall months, but the highest total export being observed for larger winter storms. Seasonal trends in DOC export coincide with weather driven changes in surface and subsurface flow paths, potential for depletion and rebuilding of a flushable soil organic matter pool, and the availability of terrestrial carbon sources such as leaf litter. Our approach and findings demonstrate the utility of high frequency FDOM measurement to improve estimates of intra-annual temporal trends of DOM export.  相似文献

A variety of microbially mediated metabolic pathways impact biogeochemical cycling in terrestrial subsurface environments. However, the role that viruses have in influencing microbial mortality and microbial community structure is poorly understood. Here we investigated the production of viruses and change in microbial community structure within shallow alluvial aquifer sediment slurries amended with 13C-labeled acetate and nitrate. Biostimulation resulted in production of viruses concurrent with acetate oxidation, 13CO2 production and nitrate reduction. Interestingly, change in viral abundance was positively correlated to acetate consumption (r2=0.6252, P<0.05) and 13CO2 production (r2=0.6572, P<0.05); whereas change in cell abundance was not correlated to acetate consumption or 13CO2 production. Viral-mediated cell lysis has implications for microbial community structure. Betaproteobacteria predominated microbial community composition (62% of paired-end reads) upon inoculation but decreased in relative abundance and was negatively correlated to changes in viral abundance (r2=0.5036, P<0.05). As members of the Betaproteobacteria decreased, Gammaproteobacteria, specifically Pseudomonas spp., increased in relative abundance (82% of paired-end reads) and was positively correlated with the change in viral abundance (r2=0.5368, P<0.05). A nitrate-reducing bacterium, Pseudomonas sp. strain Alda10, was isolated from these sediments and produced viral-like particles with a filamentous morphology that did not result in cell lysis. Together, these results indicate that viruses are linked to carbon biogeochemistry and community structure in terrestrial subsurface sediments. The subsequent cell lysis has the potential to alter available carbon pools in subsurface environments, additionally controlling microbial community structure from the bottom-up.  相似文献

Soil physicochemical properties and microbes are essential in terrestrial ecosystems through their role in cycling mineral compounds and decomposing organic matter. This study examined the effect of stand age on soil physicochemical properties and microbial community structure in wolfberry (Lycium barbarum L.) fields, in order to reveal the mechanism of soil degradation due to long-term stand of L. barbarum. The objective of the study was achieved by phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) biomarker analysis of soil samples from L. barbarum fields in Zhongning County, Ningxia Province—the origin of L. barbarum. Five stand ages of L. barbarum were selected, < 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 years (three plots each). The results showed that soil bulk density increased slightly with increasing stand age, while no clear trend was observed in soil pH or total salinity. As the stand age increased, soil organic matter and nutrients first increased before decreasing, with the highest levels being found in year 9. There was an amazing variety of PLFA biomarkers in soil samples at different stand ages. The average concentrations of total, bacterial, fungal, and actinomycete PLFAs in the surface soil initially decreased and then increased, before decreasing with the stand age in summer. The PLFA concentrations of major microbial groups were highest in year 9, with the total PLFA concentrations being 32.97% and 10.67% higher than those in years < 1 and 12, respectively. Higher microbial PLFA concentrations were detected in summer relative to autumn and in the surface relative to the subsurface soil. The highest ratios of Gram-positive to Gram-negative bacterial (G?/G+) and fungal to bacterial (F/B) PLFAs were obtained in year 6, on average 76.09% higher than those at the other four stand ages. The soil environment was most stable in year 6, with no differences between other stand ages. Therefore, soil microbial community structure was strongly influenced by the stand age in year 6 only. The effect of stand age on soil G?/G+ and microbial community structure varied with season and depth; there was little effect for F/B in the 20–40 cm soil layer. Principal component analysis revealed no correlations between microbial PLFA concentrations and total salinity in the soil; negative correlations were noted between soil pH and F/B in summer (P < 0.01), as well as between soil pH and fungal PLFA in autumn (P < 0.05). Moreover, microbial PLFA concentrations were correlated with soil organic matter (mean R = 0.7725), total nitrogen (mean R = 0.8296), total phosphorus (mean R = 0.8175), available nitrogen (mean R = 0.7458), and available phosphorus (mean R = 0.7795) (P < 0.01). On the whole, the soil ecosystem was most stable in year 6, while soil organic matter, nutrients, and microbial PLFA concentrations were maximal in year 9; thereafter, soil fertility indices and microbial concentrations decreased and soil quality declined gradually as the stand age increased. Therefore, farmers should reduce the application rate of fertilizers, especially compound or mixed fertilizers, in L. barbarum fields; organic or bacterial manure can be applied increasingly to improve the soil environment and prolong the economic life of L. barbarum.  相似文献

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the combined effect of vegetation and N deposition on microbial community composition in forest soils. For this, microbial biomass and community structure were assessed by ester linked fatty acid methyl ester (EL-FAME) analyses for 12 European forest sites representing different forest types (coniferous/deciduous) and differing in annual N loads (2?C40 kg?N?ha?1). Microbial community composition was affected by vegetation as indicated by a higher proportion of the marker for arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) fungi??16:1 11???in deciduous forest soils (1.2%?C5.7% of total EL-FAMEs) compared to acidic coniferous forest soils (0.5%?C1.6%). The two pine forest sites investigated showed the highest proportion of fungi (up to 28% of total EL-FAMEs) and the lowest proportions of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria of all study sites. Nitrogen deposition rates were highly correlated with the ratios of cyclopropyl fatty acids to their precursors (r?=?0.82; P?<?0.01) and of bacteria to fungi (r?=?0.71; P?<?0.05). The two sites with the highest N deposition (??32.3 kg?N?ha?1a?1) were depleted in the marker fatty acids for AM fungi and other fungi. Our findings suggest that vegetation has a pronounced effect on microbial community structure, but this effect is masked by high N inputs (>30 kg?N?ha?1a?1).  相似文献

The SERPINE1 (serpin peptidase inhibitor, clade E, member 1) gene, better known by its previous symbol PAI-1 (plasminogen activator inhibitor 1), has been associated with cardiovascular phenotypes with differing results. Our aim was to examine the association between the rs6950982 (G > A) near the SERPINE1 gene, blood pressure (BP) and plasma lipid concentrations as well as the modulation of the polymorphism effects by adherence to Mediterranean diet (AMD). We studied 945 high-cardiovascular-risk subjects. Biochemical, clinical, dietary and genetic data (rs6950982) were obtained. We also determined the common rs1799768 (4G/5G), for checking independent effects. AMD was measured by a validated questionnaire, and four groups were considered. rs6950982 (A > G) and rs1799768 (4G/5G) were only in moderate–low linkage disequilibrium (D′ = 0.719; r 2 = 0.167). The most significant associations we obtained were with rs6950982 (A > G). In males, the G allele was nominally associated with higher diastolic BP (AA: 81.5 ± 10.9, AG: 82.1 ± 11.4, GG: 85.7 ± 10.5 mmHg; P additive = 0.030) and systolic BP (AA + AG: 141.4 ± 6.9 mmHg vs. GG: 149.8 ± 8.0 mmHg; P recessive = 0.036). In the whole population, the rs6950982 was also associated with plasma lipids. Subject with the G allele presented higher total cholesterol (P additive = 0.016, P recessive = 0.011), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (P additive = 0.032, P recessive = 0.031) and triglycerides (P additive = 0.040, P recessive = 0.029). AMD modulated the effect of rs6950982 on triglyceride concentrations (P for interaction = 0.036). Greater AMD reduced the higher triglyceride concentrations in GG subjects. No significant interactions were found for the other parameters. The rs6950982 was associated with higher BP in men and higher triglycerides in the whole population, this association being modulated by AMD.  相似文献

Ethanol disorders biological membranes causing perturbations in the bilayer and also by altering the physicochemical properties of membrane lipids. But, chronic alcohol consumption also increases nitric oxide (NO) production. There was no systemic study was done related to alcohol-induced production of NO and consequent formation of peroxynitrite mediated changes in biophysical and biochemical properties, structure, composition, integrity and function of erythrocyte membranes in chronic alcoholics. Hence, keeping all these conditions in mind the present study was undertaken to investigate the role of over produced nitric oxide on red cell membrane physicochemical properties in chronic alcoholics. Human male volunteers aged 44 ± 6 years with similar dietary habits were divided into two groups, namely nonalcoholic controls and chronic alcoholics (~125 g of alcohol at least five times per week for the past 10–12 years). Elevated nitrite and nitrate levels in plasma and lysate, changes in erythrocyte membrane individual phospholipid composition, increased lipid peroxidation, protein carbonyls, cholesterol and phospholipids ratio (C/P ratio) and anisotropic value (γ) with decreased sulfhydryl groups and Na+/K+-ATPase activity in alcoholics was evident from this study. RBC lysate NO was positively correlated with C/P ratio (r = 0.547) and anisotropic (γ) value (r = 0.428), Na+/K+-ATPase activity was negatively correlated with RBC lysate NO (r = ?0.372) and anisotropic (γ) value (r = ?0.624) in alcoholics. Alcohol-induced overproduction of nitric oxide reacts with superoxide radicals to produce peroxynitrite, which appears to be responsible for changes in erythrocyte membrane lipids and the activity of Na+/K+-ATPase.  相似文献

The “brown shrimp”, Crangon crangon (Linnaeus 1758), is a benthic key species in the North Sea ecosystem, supporting an intense commercial fishery. Its reproductive pattern is characterized by a continuous spawning season from mid-winter to early autumn. During this extended period, C. crangon shows significant seasonal variations in egg size and embryonic biomass, which may influence larval quality at hatching. In the present study, we quantified seasonal changes in dry weight (W) and chemical composition (CHN, protein and lipid) of newly hatched larvae of C. crangon. Our data revealed significant variations, with maximum biomass values at the beginning of the hatching season (February–March), a decrease throughout spring (April–May) and a minimum in summer (June–September). While all absolute values of biomass and biochemical constituents per larva showed highly significant differences between months (P < 0.001), CHN, protein and lipid concentrations (expressed as percentage values of dry weight) showed only marginally significant differences (P < 0.05). According to generalized additive models (GAM), key variables of embryonic development exerted significant effects on larval condition at hatching: The larval carbon content (C) was positively correlated with embryonic carbon content shortly after egg-laying (r 2 = 0.60; P < 0.001) and negatively with the average incubation temperature during the period of embryonic development (r 2 = 0.35; P < 0.001). Additionally, water temperature (r 2 = 0.57; P < 0.001) and food availability (phytoplankton C; r 2 = 0.39; P < 0.001) at the time of hatching were negatively correlated with larval C content at hatching. In conclusion, “winter larvae” hatching from larger “winter eggs” showed higher initial values of biomass compared to “summer larvae” originating from smaller “summer eggs”. This indicates carry-over effects persisting from the embryonic to the larval phase. Since “winter larvae” are more likely exposed to poor nutritional conditions, intraspecific variability in larval biomass at hatching is interpreted as part of an adaptive reproductive strategy compensating for strong seasonality in plankton production and transitory periods of larval food limitation.  相似文献

Responses of soil organic carbon (SOC) cycling and C budget in forest ecosystems to elevated nitrogen (N) deposition are divergent. Little is known about the N critical loads for the shift between gain and loss of SOC storage in the old-growth temperate forest of Northeast China. The objective of this study was to investigate the nonlinear responses of SOC concentration and composition to multiple rates of N addition, as well as the microbial mechanisms responsible for SOC alteration under N enrichment. Nine rates of urea addition (0, 10, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140 kg N ha?1 year?1) with 4 replicates for each treatment were conducted. Soil samples in the 0–10 cm mineral layer were taken after 3 years of N fertilization. Soil aggregate size distribution and SOC physical fractionation were performed to examine SOC dynamics. Phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) technique was used to measure the abundance and structure of microbial community. Three years of N addition led to significant increases in the concentrations of soil particulate organic C and aggregate-associated organic C fractions only. The responses of total N and each labile SOC fraction to the rates of N addition followed Gaussian equations, with the N critical loads being estimated to be between 80 and 100 kg N ha?1 year?1. The change in SOC concentration (ΔSOC) was positively correlated with the changes in aggregate associated OC (r2 > 0.80) and POC concentrations (r2 > 0.50). Significant correlations among the concentrations of labile SOC fractions, the percentages of soil aggregates, and the abundances of microbial PLFAs were observed, which implies a close linkage between microbial community structure and SOC accumulation and stability. Our results suggest that increase in soil moisture and shift of microbial community structure could control the critical N load for the switch between C accumulation and loss. The current N deposition rate (~ 11 kg N ha?1 year?1) to the northeast China’s forests is favorable for soil C accumulation over the short term.  相似文献

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) represents an extremely chemoresistant tumour type. Here, authors analysed the immunophenotype of GBM tumours by flow cytometry and correlated the immunophenotypic characteristics with sensitivity to chemotherapy. The expression of selected neural and non-neural differentiation markers including A2B5, CD34, CD45, CD56, CD117, CD133, EGFR, GFAP, Her-2/neu, LIFR, nestin, NGFR, Pgp and vimentin was analysed by flow cytometry in eleven GBM (WHO gr.IV) patients. The sensitivity of tumour cells to a panel of chemotherapeutic agents was tested by the MTT assay. All tumours were positive for A2B5, CD56, nestin and vimentin. CD133, EGFR, LIFR, NGFR and Pgp were expressed only by minor tumour cell subpopulations. CD34, CD45, CD117, GFAP and Her-2/neu were constantly negative. Direct correlations were found between the immunophenotypic markers and chemosensitivity: A2B5 vs lomustine (r2 = 0.642, P = 0.033), CD56 vs cisplatin (r2 = 0.745, P = 0.013), %Pgp+ vs vincristine (r2 = 0.846, P = 0.008), and %NGFR+ vs daunorubicine (r2 = 0.672, P = 0.047) and topotecan (r2 = 0.792, P = 0.011). In contrast, inverse correlations were observed between: EGFR vs paclitaxel (r2 = ?0.676, P = 0.046), CD133 vs dacarbazine (r2 = ?0.636, P = 0.048) and LIFR vs daunorubicine (r2 = ?0.878, P = 0.004). Finally, significant associations were also found among sensitivities to different chemotherapeutic agents and among different immunophenotypic markers. In conclusion, histopathologically identical GBM tumours displayed a marked immunophenotypic heterogeneity. The expression of A2B5, CD56, NGFR and Pgp appeared to be associated with chemoresistance whereas CD133, EGFR and LIFR expression was characteristic of chemosensitive tumours. We suggest that flow cytometric imunophenotypic analysis of GBM may predict chemoresponsiveness and help to identify patients who could potentially benefit from chemotherapy.  相似文献

A large portion of the World’s terrestrial organic carbon is stored in Arctic permafrost soils. However, due to permafrost warming and increased in situ microbial mineralisation of released carbon, greenhouse gas releases from Arctic soils are increasing, including methane (CH4(g)). To identify environmental controls on such releases, we characterised soil geochemistry and microbial community conditions in 13 near-surface Arctic soils collected across Kongsfjorden, Svalbard. Statistically significant correlations were found between proxies for carbonate mineral content (i.e. Ca and Mg) and soil pH (Spearman rho = 0.87, p < 0.001). In turn, pH significantly inversely correlated with bacterial and Type I methanotroph gene abundances across the soils (r = ?0.71, p = 0.01 and r = ?0.74, p = 0.006, respectively), which also co-varied with soil phosphorous (P) level (r = 0.79, p = 0.01 and r = 0.63, p = 0.02, respectively). These results suggest that soil P supply, which is controlled by pH and other factors, significantly influences in situ microbial abundances in these Arctic soils. Overall, we conclude microbial responses to increasing ‘old carbon’ releases in this Arctic region are constrained by nutrient-deficiency in surface soils, with consequential impacts on the flux and composition of carbon gasses released to the atmosphere.  相似文献

In the present study, we explored the metabolic versatility of anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) bacteria in a variety of Fe (III) concentrations. Specifically, we investigated the impacts of Fe (III) on anammox growth rates, on nitrogen removal performance, and on microbial community dynamics. The results from our short-term experiments revealed that Fe (III) concentrations (0.04–0.10 mM) significantly promote the specific anammox growth rate from 0.1343 to 0.1709 d?1. In the long-term experiments, the Anammox-anaerobic sequencing batch reactor (ASBR) was operated over 120 days and achieved maximum NH4 +-N, NO2 ?-N, and TN efficiencies of 90.98 ± 0.35, 93.78 ± 0.29, and 83.66 ± 0.46 %, respectively. Pearson’s correlation coefficients between anammox-(narG + napA), anammox-nrfA, and anammox-FeRB all exceeded r = 0.820 (p < 0.05), confirming an interaction and ecological association among the nitrogen and iron-cycling-related microbial communities. Illumina MiSeq sequencing indicated that Chloroflexi (34.39–39.31 %) was the most abundant phylum in an Anammox-ASBR system, followed by Planctomycetes (30.73–35.31 %), Proteobacteria (15.40–18.61 %), and Chlorobi (4.78–6.58 %). Furthermore, we found that higher Fe (III) supplementation (>0.06 mM) could result in the community succession of anammox species, in which Candidatus Brocadia and Candidatus Kuenenia were the dominant anammox bacteria species. Combined analyses indicated that the coupling of anammox, dissimilatory nitrogen reduction to ammonium, and iron reduction accounted for nitrogen loss in the Anammox-ASBR system. Overall, the knowledge gained in this study provides novel insights into the microbial community dynamics and metabolic potential of anammox bacteria under Fe (III) supplementation.  相似文献

Matrix metalloproteinase-2 is involved in the development of the adipose tissue, and associated with cardiovascular diseases. Metabolic risk factors (MRFs) and functional polymorphisms in the MMP-2 gene may affect its expression and activity. We investigated whether traditional MRFs and two MMP-2 gene polymorphisms (C?1306T; rs243865, and C?735T; rs2285053) affect circulating MMP-2 levels in children and adolescents, and whether MMP-2 polymorphisms and/or haplotype are associated with susceptibility to childhood obesity. We studied 114 healthy controls, 43 obese, and 83 obese with ≥3 MRFs children and adolescents. Genotypes were determined by Taqman allele discrimination assay and real-time PCR. Plasma MMP-2 was measured using zymography. We found positive correlations between MMP-2 concentrations and mean blood pressure in all children and adolescents group (r = 0.132; P < 0.05) and in obese children and adolescents (r = 0.247; P < 0.01). We found that the CC genotype for the C?1306T polymorphism was more common in subjects with higher MMP-2 concentrations in controls (P = 0.003) and in the obese group (P = 0.013). The CT genotype (OR = 0.40; P < 0.01) and the T allele (OR = 0.48; P < 0.01) for the C?735T polymorphism were less common in obese children and adolescents than in controls. The haplotypes distribution did not show significant differences between control and obese (P > 0.05). Ours findings show that blood pressure is associated with circulating MMP-2 concentrations, and that the CC genotype for the C?1306T polymorphism was more common subjects (controls and obese) with higher MMP-2 concentrations, whereas the CT genotype and the T allele for the C?735T polymorphism are less common in obesity.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of microbial immune enteral nutrition by microecopharmaceutics and deep sea fish oil and glutamine and Peptisorb on the patients with acute radiation enteritis in bowel function and immune status. From June 2010 to January 2013, 46 acute radiation enteritis patients in Liaocheng People’s Hospital were randomized into the microbial immune enteral nutrition group and the control group: 24 patients in treatment group and 22 patients in control group. The immune microbial nutrition was given to the study group, but not to the control group. The concentration of serum albumin and prealbumin and the number of CD3 + T cell, CD4 + T cell, CD8 + T cell, CD4 +/CD8 + and natural killer cell of the two groups were detected on the 1, 7 and 14 days after treatment. The arm muscle circumference and triceps skinfold thickness (TSF) were recorded, and the tolerance of the two groups for enteral nutrition and intestinal symptoms was collected and then comparing the two indicators and get results. The tolerance of microbial immune enteral nutrition group about abdominal pain, bloating and diarrhea was better than the control group (P values were 0.018, 0.04 and 0.008 after 7 days; P values were 0.018, 0.015 and 0.002 after 14 days); and the cellular immune parameters were better than the control group( P = 0.008, P = 0.039, P = 0.032); No difference was found in nutrition indicators. To the patients with acute radiation enteritis, microbial immune enteral nutrition could improve the patient’s immune status, and the tolerance of enteral nutrition could be better for the bowel function and the patients’ rehabilitation.  相似文献

We investigated how conversion from conventional agriculture to organic management affected the structure and biogeochemical function of soil microbial communities. We hypothesized the following. (1) Changing agricultural management practices will alter soil microbial community structure driven by increasing microbial diversity in organic management. (2) Organically managed soil microbial communities will mineralize more N and will also mineralize more N in response to substrate addition than conventionally managed soil communities. (3) Microbial communities under organic management will be more efficient and respire less added C. Soils from organically and conventionally managed agroecosystems were incubated with and without glucose (13C) additions at constant soil moisture. We extracted soil genomic DNA before and after incubation for TRFLP community fingerprinting of soil bacteria and fungi. We measured soil C and N pools before and after incubation, and we tracked total C respired and N mineralized at several points during the incubation. Twenty years of organic management altered soil bacterial and fungal community structure compared to continuous conventional management with the bacterial differences caused primarily by a large increase in diversity. Organically managed soils mineralized twice as much NO3 ? as conventionally managed ones (44 vs. 23 μg N/g soil, respectively) and increased mineralization when labile C was added. There was no difference in respiration, but organically managed soils had larger pools of C suggesting greater efficiency in terms of respiration per unit soil C. These results indicate that the organic management induced a change in community composition resulting in a more diverse community with enhanced activity towards labile substrates and greater capacity to mineralize N.  相似文献

The influence of forest fragmentation (habitat isolation) on biological and ecological diversity of aquatic insects was investigated in streams of fragmented forests in Hulu Gombak (6 streams) and Gunung Angsi (5 streams) and un-fragmented forest of Berembun (6 streams) in peninsular Malaysia. Several environmental parameters including canopy cover, DO, temperature and pH differed significantly among the three catchments (P < 0.05). We found that taxonomic richness in Berembun forest was significantly different from Gunung Angsi (P < 0.05), but not with Hulu Gombak forests (P > 0.05). Nestedness pattern that measures the effect of habitat isolation on taxonomic assemblages showed that aquatic insect’s community in un-fragmented forest (Berembun) was less nested (T = 54.4), indicating high diversity compared to highly nested (less diverse) in the two fragmented forests (Hulu Gombak, T = 30.45 and Gunung Angsi, T = 35.45). Taxa similarity in Berembun streams was negatively correlated with the geographical distance among streams (Mantel test, r = ? 0.462, P < 0.05). Such correlation was absent in both Gunung Angsi and Hulu Gombak streams. Forest fragmentation in Hulu Gombak and Gunung Angsi measured as the distance of the forests from the nearest forested area had negative effect on aquatic insects diversity (r 2 = ? 0.149, P < 0.05), but not on their abundances (r 2 = 0.003, P > 0.05). We concluded that local habitat conditions were the most important in shaping the aquatic insects community among streams of both unfragmented and fragmented forests.  相似文献

In the last 40 years, the shallow steppe lake, Neusiedler See, was ice covered between 0 and 97 days. The North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) as well as the Mediterranean Oscillation affected the lake and its conditions during winter. Both climate indices correlated negatively with the duration of ice cover and the timing of ice-out. Average winter phytoplankton biomass increased from less than 0.2 (0.05–0.84) mg FM l?1 in the late 1960s/beginning of 1970s to 3.1 (1.72–5.61) mg FM l?1 in the years 2001–2004. The increase in annual winter biomass of phytoplankton was associated with a significant shift in the composition of the algal assemblage. In the winter 1997/1998, diatoms contributed between 40 and 80% to the phytoplankton biomass while in 2006/2007 cyanoprokaryotes contributed 46%. Mean chlorophyll-a concentrations during winter were significantly correlated with those of total phosphorus (Ptot). Together with cold-water species (rotifer Rhinoglena fertöensis), perennial, eurythermal ones (copepod Arctodiaptomus spinosus) contributed to the zooplankton community. High zooplankton numbers were encountered when rotifers, particularly when densities of Rhinoglena fertöensis were high (r 2 = 0.928). Zooplankton abundance and biomass varied from year to year but correlated positively with Chl-a (biomass ? r 2 = 0.69; numbers ? r 2 = 0.536). Winter zooplankton populations were primarily influenced by winter conditions, but in early winter also by survival of autumn populations, i.e., the more adults of Arctodiaptomus spinosus survived into winter, the higher was the zooplankton biomass in early winter. Phyto- and zooplankton dynamics in shallow lakes of the temperate region seem to critically depend on the biomass in autumn and on winter conditions, specifically on ice conditions and thus are related to climate signals such as the NAO.  相似文献

Studies conducted across northern Europe and North America have shown increases in dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in aquatic systems in recent decades. While there is little consensus as to the exact mechanisms for the increases in DOC, hypotheses converge on such climate change factors as warming, increased precipitation variability, and changes in atmospheric deposition. In this study, we tested the effects of warming on peat porewater composition by actively warming a peatland with infrared lamps mounted 1.24 m above the peat surface for 3 years. Mean growing season peat temperatures in the warmed plots (n = 5) were 1.9 ± 0.4 °C warmer than the control plots at 5 cm depth (t statistic = 5.03, p = 0.007). Mean porewater DOC concentrations measured throughout the growing season were 15 % higher in the warmed plots (73.4 ± 3.2 mg L?1) than in the control plots (63.7 ± 2.1 mg L?1) at 25 cm (t = 4.69, p < 0.001). Furthermore, DOC from the warmed plots decayed nearly twice as fast as control plot DOC in laboratory incubations, and exhibited lower aromaticity than control plot porewater (reduction in SUVA254 in heated plots compared with control plots). Dissolved organic nitrogen (DON) concentrations tracked DOC patterns as expected, but the amount of dissolved N per unit C decreased with warming. Previous work has shown that warming increased net primary production at this site, and together with measured increases in the activities of chitinases and glucosidases we suggest that the increased DOC concentrations observed with warming were derived in part from microbial-plant interactions in the rhizosphere. We also detected more nitrogen containing compounds with higher double bond equivalents (DBE) unique to the warmed plots, within the pool of biomolecules able to deprotonate (16 % of all compounds identified using ultrahigh resolution ion electrospray mass spectrometry); we suggest these compounds could be the products of increased plant, microbial, and enzyme activity occurring with warming. With continued warming in peatlands, an increase in relatively labile DOC concentrations could contribute to dissolved exports of DOC in runoff, and would likely contribute to the pool of efficient electron donors (and acceptors) in the production of CO2 and CH4 in terrestrial and aquatic environments.  相似文献
