传统观点认为蝎类是蛛形纲中最原始的类群,但是最近的形态分析和分子系统发生研究表明蝎类与单胫类(Haplocnemata=Solifugae Pseudoscorpiones)构成姐妹群,并与盲蛛类一起在蛛形纲形成一个独立的分支.钳蝎科是蝎目中种类最多分布最广的一个科,目前已知82属600余种.钳蝎一直被认为是蝎目中最原始的类群,但是随着Pseudochactidae的发现和建立,其原始的地位也被取代.钳蝎科中亚科的划分一直存在很大的争议,至今尚没有一个亚科划分意见被广泛接受.同样,钳蝎科中属种的界定也存在问题,一些建立较早的属亟待修订.本文对钳蝎的系统发生和分类进行了综述,并对国内外文献中已记载的中国钳蝎种类进行了汇总和记述,即东亚钳蝎Mesobuthus martensii(Karsch,1879),条斑钳蝎蒙古亚种M.eupeus mongolicus(Birula,1911)、凶恶亚种M.e.thersites(C.L.Koch,1839),高加索钳蝎间型亚种M.caucasicus intermedius(Birula,1897)、普氏亚种M.c.przewaklskii(Birula,1897),细尖狼蝎Lychas mucronatus(Fabricius,1798),斑等蝎Isometrus maculates(DeGeer,1778),凹直钳蝎Orthochirus scrobiculosus(Grube,1873).  相似文献

Prediction models are essential for the potential geographic distribution of scorpions, prevention of scorpion stings and diverse applications in conservation biology. There is limited information about habitat suitability and the factors affecting the distribution of Iranian digger scorpions. This study was undertaken to model the distribution of three types of digger scorpion in Iran, Odontobuthus doriae Thorell, Odonthubutus bidentatus Lourenco (Scorpiones: Buthidae) and Scorpio maurus Pocockin (Scorpiones: Scorpionidae), and investigate the factors affecting its distribution using the maximum entropy method. A total of 20 environmental and climate variables were used for modeling and evaluation of the ecological niche. The similarities and differences between the ecological overlap of the digger scorpions were evaluated using comparative environmental niche model (ENM Tools software). The results showed that the main factors for habitat suitability of O. doriae were soil type, mean temperature of the wettest quarter and slope. The variables for S. maurus were soil type, precipitation of the coldest quarter and slope. Annual temperature range, mean temperature of the driest quarter and land use had the greatest influence on the distribution of O. bidentatus. The ecological niches for O. doriae and O. bidentatus overlapped. The niche of these species differed from the niche of S. maurus. This approach could be helpful for the prediction of the potential distribution of three digger scorpion species and this model can be an effective for the promotion of health.

The fine structure of the book lungs in 29 species representing ten monophyletic taxa of the Scorpiones (Arachnida) was investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Scorpion lungs are not homogeneous across the group. Here we describe and score three sets of phylogenetically informative characters: (1) the surface ornament of the lung lamellae, (2) the distal margins of the lamellae and (3) the fine structure of the spiracle margin. Provisional results suggest that reticulation on the surface of the lung lamellae is characteristic of the Buthidae. By contrast, non-buthid scorpions maintain the air space between adjacent lamellae using projecting trabeculae. Typically they are simple struts, but the trabeculae are distally branched in all investigated Scorpionidae, plus at least one species belonging to the Liochelidae. Simple thorns on the lamellar margins probably represent the plesiomorphic condition, while more complex, branched, arcuate morphologies appear to be homoplastic, occurring sporadically in numerous scorpion sub-groups. The tightly packed, hexagonal pillars around the posterior margin of the spiracle support a close relationship between Scorpionidae and Liochelidae, to the exclusion of the Urodacidae.  相似文献

The complete mitochondrial genome (15,034 bp) of a Chinese scorpion Mesobuthus martensii (Buthidae) was sequenced and characterized in detail. The genome contains 13 protein-coding genes, 21 transfer RNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes and a large non-coding region ( = CR). Its gene arrangement pattern is identical to that of Limulus polyphemus (Chelicerata, Xiphosura), with the exceptions of the tRNA(Glu)-tRNA(Ile)-tRNA(Met) (Q-I-M) arrangement and tRNA(Asp)-loss. Additional interesting features are found and discussed: high frequency of Leu(UUG) codon use, low A+T content of the genome (66.75%), and six repeat units (five 60-nt-long and one 58-nt-long repeats) in the 998-nt CR. Bayesian analysis based on amino acid sequences of the 12 proteincoding genes (excluding ATP8) reveals that the family Buthidae (Order Scorpiones) and the class Arachnida form strong monophyletic groups within Chelicerata, respectively. It indicated that the scorpions are the most ancestral arachnids.  相似文献

Using electron microscopy we describe an accessory lateral eye for Cylindroiulus, a diplopod. The accessory eye is situated at the cell body rind of the optic lobes, deep inside the head, and is composed of six R-cells; a dioptric apparatus is absent. Comparison reveals that many arthropods possess accessory lateral eyes in addition to the compound eyes or lateral ocelli. Their homology and distribution among the arthropod main lineages is discussed along with characters that may be useful for reconstructing phylogeny.  相似文献

Abstract:  The morphology of the Late Silurian (Přídolí) scorpion Proscorpius osborni ( Whitfield, 1885 a ) (Arachnida: Scorpiones), from the Phelps Member of the Fiddlers Green Formation of New York, the 'Bertie Waterlime' of earlier stratigraphic schemes, is revised based on studies of new and existing material (a total of 32 specimens). Previous reports of four cheliceral articles, gnathobasic coxae, a labium and gill slits in P. osborni can be dismissed. However, we confirm the presence of both median and compound lateral eyes, a pair of tarsal claws, albeit on a more digitigrade foot compared to that of modern scorpions, more than five ventral mesosomal sclerites and a fairly modern pattern of metasomal (i.e. tail) carinae. The co-occurring Archaeophonus eurypteroides Kjellesvig-Waering, 1966 and Stoermeroscorpio delicatus Kjellesvig-Waering, 1986 are regarded as junior synonyms of P. osborni . Fossil scorpion higher systematics is plagued by a plethora of unnecessary and largely monotypic higher taxa and we draw on the results of Jeram's cladistic analysis from 1998 to synonymize formally a series of families and superfamilies with Proscorpiidae Scudder, 1885 .  相似文献

Scorpions exhibit some of the lowest recorded water loss rates compared with those of other terrestrial arthropods of similar body size. Evaporative water loss (EWL) includes cuticular transpiration and respiratory water loss (RWL) from gas exchange surfaces, that is, book lung lamellae. Estimated fractions of cuticular and respiratory losses currently available from the literature show considerable variation, at least partly as a result of differences in methodology. This study reports RWL rates and their relative importance in scorpions from two families (Buthidae and Scorpionidae), including both xeric and mesic species (or subspecies). Two of the included Buthidae were surface-dwelling species, and another inhabits empty burrows of other terrestrial arthropods. This experimental design enabled correlating RWL importance with scorpion phylogeny, habitat type, and/or homing behavior. Buthidae species exhibited significantly lower EWL rates compared with those of Scorpionidae, whereas effects of habitat type and homing behavior were not significant. Resting RWL rates were not significantly affected by scorpion phylogeny, but rates for the xeric species (totaling ~10% of EWL rates at 30°C) were significantly lower compared with those of mesic species. These lower RWL values were correlated with significantly lower H(2)O/CO(2) emission rates in xeric species. The experimental setup and ~24-h duration of each individual recording allowed estimating the effect of interspecific variation in activity on RWL proportions. The high respiratory losses in active hydrated Scorpio maurus fuscus, totaling 30% of EWL, suggest that behavioral discretion in this species is a more likely mechanism for body water conservation under stressful conditions when compared with the responses of other studied species.  相似文献

Many environmental factors may influence the activity of scorpions in arid ecosystems. In this study, we examined the effects of such factors on scorpion activity at a mature and a secondary forest site in the Chancaní Reserve (Arid Chaco ecoregion in Córdoba, Argentina). Scorpions were collected using pitfall traps, and their nocturnal activity was observed by means of UV light during 14 nights. Temperature, air humidity, atmospheric pressure, and wind velocity were measured, and the percentage of visible moon was estimated. A total of 440 scorpions, representing seven species belonging to two families (Bothriuridae and Buthidae), were observed in the study area. Brachistosternus ferrugineus was the species most commonly observed using both methods. Mature and secondary forest shared slightly more than 50% of species. Surface activity of scorpions observed with the two methods differed significantly between the two areas. Surface activity of all scorpions and of B. ferrugineus were negatively related to the phase of the moon and positively related to air temperature. Physical factors thus have important effects on scorpion activity.  相似文献

We review aspects of the distributional patterns of Malagasy scorpions belonging to the endemic genus Pseudouroplectes (family Buthidae), restricted to dry forests formations in the south and southwest. One species is described here as new to science. We propose that the observed distributional pattern of members of this genus is not only a consequence of recent ecological features of the landscape, but also of historical biogeographical factors associated with the antiquity of this scorpion lineage.  相似文献

Sperm packages are widespread in the order Scorpiones, but absent in the family Buthidae. The morphology of sperm packages is diverse and apparently has phylogenetic information. The objectives of this work were to show diversity of sperm packages and to provide a quantitative basis for using sperm packages’ morphology as a taxonomic character. For this, we conducted a morphological analysis and comparison of the different sperm packages of species of the family Bothriuridae. The seminal content from males of species of Bothriuridae was studied. Specimens from Iuridae, Buthidae, Euscorpiidae, Liochelidae, Scorpionidae, Vaejovidae, Chaerilidae, and Chactidae were used for comparison. Digital images of sperm packages were measured and statistically analysed based on the following variables: total length, head width, head–body angle, total area, and head length. Pairs of variables were also contrasted, and all the variables were correlated with the current phylogenetic hypothesis for Bothriuridae. High morphological diversity and variability in measures was observed. In general, measurements were similar within each genus, but differed amongst genera. Cane‐like sperm packages are very common in species of the family Bothriuridae. Species from Bothriurus show a wide range of sperm package shapes, some of them shared with Timogenes and Vachonia species, supporting the idea of nonmonophyly of the genus. Many species showed sperm package dimorphism inside a single male. Some of the analysed features fit well with the phylogenetic hypothesis in Bothriuridae, and the general package shape shows high correlation with scorpion phylogeny in other families. Bent and round packages are the most common amongst the different families. Sperm packages are not developed in Chaerilidae, as in Buthidae. This is the first morphological and comparative analysis of sperm packages in scorpions, and reveals much greater diversity in this trait than previously known. Among several specimens of Grosphus hirtus Kraepelin (Scorpiones, Buthidae), obtained in Madagascar, Mahajanga Province, Parc National d’Ankarafantsika, Station Forestière d’Ampijoroa, and then held in captivity, the courtship and mating behaviour of two females was observed. These two animals gave birth in captivity to 26 and 37 offspring of which two and three reached maturity, respectively. The duration of the five instars needed to reach the adult stage in both males and females averaged 14, 112, 117, 274, and 334 days. These developmental periods are much longer than those of Grosphus flavopiceus Kraepelin, the only other species in this genus studied, and longer than those of most examined species of Buthidae. Morphometric values for the different instars are presented from the individual offspring and from specimens collected in the wild. On the basis of these values, the average growth factor (Dyar's constant) per moult for three different measured structures was calculated from the pooled data. Dyar's constant is expressed for the first time in scorpions of the genus Grosphus. Instars growth factors are also comparable to other species of Buthidae.  相似文献

Scorpion stings cause more morbidity in Mexico than any other country, leading to about 100 deaths annually. In 1999, the State of Morelos reported nine deaths among 30663 cases of scorpion sting. To replace lindane used for scorpion control, field trials of pyrethroid pesticides were undertaken in Morelos during 1998-2000 at the village of Chalcatzingo (population initially with 2760 inhabitants and 530 houses). Pre-intervention surveys detected scorpions (Scorpiones: Buthidae) of two species in the majority of houses: Centruroides limpidus limpidus Karsch outnumbering Vaejovis mexicanus smithi Koch. Scorpion prevalence was assessed, pre- and post-spray, directly by searching (40 min/house) and by householder reports of sightings inside houses. Pre-intervention perceptions of scorpion abundance were similar for all areas, with sightings in 12-18% of houses, whereas daytime searches detected more infestations in eastern parts of the village (prevalence 17% indoors, 22% outdoors) than in other sectors (9% indoors, 14% outdoors). Pyrethroids were evaluated as residual treatments in separate sectors of Chalcatzingo, with almost complete coverage indoors and peridomestically, using the following four formulations: bifenthrin 10% wettable powder (WP) applied at 50mg a.i./m2, cyfluthrin 10% WP (Solfac 10 WP) at 44-55 mg a.i./m2, deltamethrin 2.5% suspension concentrate (Biothrin 25 SC) at 11 mg a.i./m2 and 5% WP (K-Othrine 50 WP) at 35 mg a.i./m2. Phase 1 compared bifenthrin 10 WP, Solfac 10 WP and Biothrin 25 SC sprayed in December 1998; phase 2 compared Solfac 10 WP and K-Othrine 50 WP sprayed in June and again in December 2000, with follow-up surveys of scorpions one month post-spray and subsequently. Scorpion prevalence was reduced by 64-77% peridomestically one month post-spray and by 83, 46 and 15% in houses sprayed with cyfluthrin WP, bifenthrin WP or deltamethrin SC, respectively. Householder reports of sighting scorpions indoors were 33-85% below pre-intervention levels. Cumulative effects of the three spray-rounds over 3 years reduced scorpion prevalence by approximately 60% in the deltamethrin WP re-sprayed area and by approximately 90% in the cyfluthrin WP re-sprayed area. Householder sightings also fell by 67 and 28% in the cyfluthrin and delta-methrin re-sprayed areas, respectively. Operational efficacy of these products against scorpions at the dosages applied was ranked as cyfluthrin WP > bifenthrin WP > deltamethrin SC > WP. Reported cases of scorpion sting intoxication fell by 17% during this study after having risen by approximately 40% over four previous years.  相似文献

大多数昆虫的视觉器官除了复眼外还有一些简单的小眼,称为单眼。昆虫成虫和半变态类若虫的单眼称为背单眼,位于头顶两复眼之间。背单眼在数目和结构上都有较大变化,但基本结构包括角膜晶体、一层角膜生成细胞(覆盖在角膜晶体上)、视网膜(由大约1000个感光细胞构成,视类群而不同)。背单眼对弱光比较敏感,但在图像感知方面的作用并不显著;它是一种“激发器官”,可以增加复眼的感知能力。全变态昆虫的幼虫既没有复眼也没有背单眼,但在其头部两侧有些类似复眼小眼的侧单眼。侧单眼的结构也与小眼相似,包括角膜,晶体和由一些视网膜细胞组成的视杆。侧单眼是完全变态类昆虫幼虫仅有的感光器官,与复眼一样,它们可以感知颜色、形状、距离等等。  相似文献

A total of 821 species, 296 genera, and 69 families of non-acarine arachnids (Araneae, Solifugae, Scorpiones, Pseudoscorpiones, Opiliones and Amblypygi) are presently known from Namibia. Patterns of spider, solifuge and scorpion species richness and endemism are summarized relative to the 14 major Namibian types of vegetation. Spiders are most speciose in the higher rainfall areas, solifuges in the dry areas, and scorpions in rocky areas. Namibia probably has the world's greatest diversity of solifuges. Many arachnids endemic to Namibia are associated with the Namib Desert sand dunes.  相似文献

A new species of scorpion is described based on a rare entire adult male preserved in a cloudy amber from Miocene rocks in the Chiapas Highlands, south of Mexico. The amber-bearing beds in Chiapas constitute a Conservation Lagerstätte with outstanding organic preservation inside plant resin. The new species is diagnosed as having putative characters that largely correspond with the genus Tityus Koch, 1836 (Scorpiones, Buthidae). Accordingly, it is now referred to as Tityus apozonalli sp. nov. Its previously unclear phylogenetic relationship among fossil taxa of the family Buthidae from both Dominican and Mexican amber is also examined herein. Preliminarily results indicate a basal condition of T. apozonalli regarding to Tityus geratus Santiago-Blay and Poinar, 1988, Tityus (Brazilotityus) hartkorni Lourenço, 2009, and Tityus azari Lourenço, 2013 from Dominican amber, as was Tityus (Brazilotityus) knodeli Lourenço, 2014 from Mexican amber. Its close relationships with extant Neotropic Tityus-like subclades such as ‘Tityus clathratus’ and the subgenus Tityus (Archaeotityus) are also discussed. This new taxon adds to the knowledge of New World scorpions from the Miocene that are rarely found trapped in amber.  相似文献

This review describes the history of taxonomic research on scorpions and provides an updated checklist and key of the scorpions currently known in China. This checklist is based on a thorough review of the extant literatures on scorpion species whose presence has been confirmed in China through field expeditions and examination of scorpion collections, excepting a few members that have no clear distribution or are currently in doubt. Totally, the scorpion fauna of China consists of 53 species and subspecies belonging to 12 genera crossing five families, with 33 species (62.3%) and one genus being recorded as endemic. Additionally, identification key and the distribution of scorpions from China are provided.  相似文献

In various insect and arachnid species, three different types of photoreceptors that do not serve image processing have been discovered and analyzed by means of neurobiological methods: They can be found for example: (1) as lamina and lobula organs (LaOs and LoOs) next to the optic neuropils in the optic lobes of holo- and hemimetabolous insects; (2) inside the last ganglia of the cord of the scorpion and a marine midge; and (3) as modified visual photoreceptors in metamorphosized larval stemmata and the lateral eyes of scorpions, which have been compound eyes in fossil scorpion relatives. Imnunocytology with various antibodies against proteins of the phototransduction cascade, the rhabdom turnover cycle and neurotransmitters of afferent and efferent pathways, was combined with light- and ultrastructural investigations in well-defined adaptational states, in order to study their photoreceptive function and neuronal wiring. Pilot chronobiological experiments with a newly developed twilight simulating lamp, behavioral studies, and model calculations provide evidence that these photoreceptors may well serve a role in the complex task of detecting time cues out of natural dawn and dusk.  相似文献
