A new species of the genus <Emphasis Type=Italic>Siteroptes</Emphasis> (Acari,Heterostigmata, Pygmephoridae) from European Russia

A new species, Siteroptes longisetissimus Khaustov et Ermilov sp. n., is described from European Russia (Nizhnii Novgorod Province). The new species differs from all the congeners in the presence of very small oval stigmata and in the absence of setae v on femora III and IV. A key to families of the superfamily Pygmephoroidea is provided.     

Five new species and a new subgenus of the mite genus <Emphasis Type="Italic">Premicrodispus</Emphasis> (Acari,Heterostigmata, Microdispidae) from Turkmenistan

A new monotypic subgenus, Premicrodispulus subgen. n., with the type species Premicrodispus reductus sp. n., and four new species of the nominative subgenus of the mite genus Premicrodispus, P. (Premicrodispus) paradoxus sp. n., P. (P.) heterocaudatus sp. n., P. (P.) obtusisetosus sp. n., and P. (P.) incisus sp. n., collected in soils of Turkmenistan are described. The subgenus Premicrodispulus subgen. n. differs from the nominative subgenus in the presence of 3 setae on genu I (seta l″ absent) and 1 seta on genu II (setae d and l″ absent). Premicrodispus (Premicrodispus) paradoxus sp. n. differs from all the species of the genus in the presence of solenidion on tarsus III. P. (P.) heterocaudatus sp. n. is most similar to P. longisetosus (Mahunka, 1970), but differs in the setae ps3 distinctly longer than ps ₁ (in P. longisetosus, ps ₃ and ps ₁ are similar in length). P. (P.) obtusisetosus sp. n. is most similar to P. montanus Khaustov, 2006, but differs in obtuse setae c ₁, e, and f (in P. montanus, these setae are pointed); P. (P.) incisus sp. n. is most closely related to P. longisetosus (Mahunka, 1970), but differs in the presence of distinct excavations on the posterior margin of tergites C and D (in P. longisetosus, excavations are absent).     

A new species of the genus <Emphasis Type="Italic">Allothrombium</Emphasis> (Acari: Trombidiidae) from Montenegro

Allothrombium clavatum sp. n. with reduced inner claw of tarus III, one seta on coxa II, clavate dorsal idiosomal setae and 3-lobed posterior margin of scutum, collected as ectoparasite of an undetermined aphid, is described and illustrated from the central part of Montenegro (Balkan Peninsula). A key to world species of Allothrombium (larva) is presented.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">Phuphanochloa,</Emphasis> a new bamboo genus (<Emphasis Type="Italic">Poaceae</Emphasis>: <Emphasis Type="Italic">Bambusoideae</Emphasis>) from Thailand

Summary  A new monotypic bamboo genus Phuphanochloa (Poaceae: Bambusoideae) from north-eastern Thailand is described, together with a new species, P. speciosa.     

A new species of water mite <Emphasis Type="Italic">Atractides</Emphasis> (<Emphasis Type="Italic">Atractides</Emphasis>) <Emphasis Type="Italic">turcicus</Emphasis> sp. n. (Acari: Hydrachnidia: Hygrobatidae) from Turkey

In this study, the structural characteristics, unique features, various organ measurements of males and females of the water mite Atractides (Atractides) turcicus sp. n. from Turkey are described. In addition, the study compares their characteristics with related species.     

A new species of the millipede genus <Emphasis Type="Italic">Lamyctes</Emphasis> Meinert, 1868 (Chilopoda,Lithobiomorpha, Henicopidae) from European Russia

Lamyctes inexpectatus sp. n., characterized by a distinctive shape of the female gonopods, is described from European Russia. The new species is compared with other species of the genus Lamyctes from Russia, and a key to these species is given. Types of the new species are deposited at the Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg.     

A new species of the genus <Emphasis Type="Italic">Neocunaxoides</Emphasis> (Acari: Prostigmata: Cunaxidae) from Vietnam

A new mite species from Vietnam, Neocunaxoides tropicus sp. n. (Acari: Prostigmata, Cunaxidae) is described and figured; it differs from related species Neocunaxoides grandis Corpuz-Raros, 1996 by the elongate basal subcapitular polygonal pattern, four pairs of sts on striated integument between sternal shields and genito-anal region, and from the other similar species Neocunaxoides ornatus Corpuz-Raros & Gruèzo, 2007 by the absence of foveolae on dorsal shield, and by different setation on genua and tibiae I–IV. A key to females of the known Neocunaxoides is provided.

Summary   Caragana aliensis a new species from Tibet, China, is described and illustrated.     

A species of the genus <Emphasis Type="Italic">Aphodius</Emphasis> (Coleoptera,Scarabaeidae), new to Russia

The species Aphodius (Aganocrossus) urostigma Harold, 1862 was recorded in Russia for the first time. The beetles were found in cow-dung 75 km SW of Vladivostok (Primorskii Terr.) on September 27, 2005.     

A new genus and species of quill mites (Acari: Syringophilidae) from a king bird-of-paradise <Emphasis Type="Italic">Cicinnurus regius</Emphasis> (L.)

Neoperisterophila regiusi n. g., n. sp. is described from the quills of Cicinnurus regius (L.) (Passeriformes: Paradisaeidae) from New Guinea. This new genus belongs to the Peristerophila generic group. It differs from other four genera of this group, Peristerophila Kethley, 1970, PsittaciphilusFain et al., 2000, Castosyringophilus Bochkov & Perez, 2002 and Terratosyringophilus Bochkov & Perez, 2002 by the absence of the propodosomal and hysterosomal shields in the females.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">Funastrum rupicola</Emphasis> (<Emphasis Type="Italic">Apocynaceae:</Emphasis><Emphasis Type="Italic">Asclepiadoideae</Emphasis>), a new species from Bolivia

Summary   Funastrum rupicola Goyder, a new species of Apocynaceae: Asclepiadoideae from Bolivia, is described and illustrated. The conservation status of this species is assessed.     

Postembryonic development of oribatid mites <Emphasis Type="Italic">Cepheus cepheiformis</Emphasis> and <Emphasis Type="Italic">Conchogneta traegardhi</Emphasis> (Acari,Oribatida)

The morphology of all the juvenile stages of Cepheus cepheiformis and Conchogneta traegardhi is described. The structure of the gnathosoma, ovipositor, and legs is studied in adults of both species. Developmental rates of C. traegardhi in the laboratory conditions are established.     

A new species of the genus <Emphasis Type="Italic">Scathophaga</Emphasis> Meigen, 1803 (Diptera,Scathophagidae) from Yakutia (Russia)

A new species, Scathophaga yakutica sp. n. (Diptera, Scathophagidae), is described and illustrated based on specimens from Yakutia. Key for the differentiation of the new species from related species is given.     

Two new species of <Emphasis Type="Italic">Calathea</Emphasis> (<Emphasis Type="Italic">Marantaceae</Emphasis>) from South-eastern Brazil

Summary   Calathea dryadica and Calathea reginae are described, circumscribed and illustrated. These new species are probably endemic to the Atlantic Forest of Rio de Janeiro State in Southeast Brazil and are considered critically endangered because of the restricted geographic area of occurrence, sometimes enclosed by densely urbanised areas.     

A new species of <Emphasis Type="Italic">Ophiodothella</Emphasis> on <Emphasis Type="Italic">Casearia</Emphasis> from Venezuela

 Ophiodothella caseariae sp. nov. from leaves of Casearia tremula in Venezuela is described and illustrated. Received: February 19, 2002 / Accepted: April 30, 2002     

Two new species of <Emphasis Type="Italic">Erythraeus</Emphasis> (<Emphasis Type="Italic">Zaracarus</Emphasis>) Latreille, 1806 (Acari: Prostigmata: Erythraeidae) from Sicily

Erythraeus (Zaracarus) adrianicus sp. n. with fnBf 3-3-3, Ti III > 400 μm and E. (Z.) monrealicus sp. n. with fnBf 2-2-2, Ti III > 240 μm, both collected from herbaceous plants, are described from Sicily.     

Three new species of <Emphasis Type="Italic">Stigmidium</Emphasis> and <Emphasis Type="Italic">Sphaerellothecium</Emphasis> (lichenicolous ascomycetes) on <Emphasis Type="Italic">Stereocaulon</Emphasis>

Sphaerellothecium stereocaulorum sp. nov., Stigmidium beringicum sp. nov., Stigmidium stereocaulorum sp. nov. and goniocysts are described on Stereocaulon species from the northern Holarctic. Endococcus nanellus is reported new to Alaska and Mongolia. Taxonomical novelties Sphaerellothecium stereocaulorum Zhurb. & Triebel, Stigmidium beringicum Zhurb. & Triebel, Stigmidium stereocaulorum Zhurb. & Triebel.     

A new <Emphasis Type="Italic">Dactylella</Emphasis> species from <Emphasis Type="Italic">Orbilia alba</Emphasis>

A new Dactylella species, Dactylella alba was isolated from the ascospores of Orbilia alba collected in Wenshan County, Yunnan Province, China. Conidiophores were either not branched or occasionally branched, bearing divergent sterigmata on the tip with single conidium on each. Conidia were elongated ellipsoids, 1–2 septate, mostly 1 septate. By combining the ITS sequence with morphological characteristics, a new anamorphic species is described and illustrated together with its teleomorph.
