The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of 7 days of supplementation with 20 g·d?1 of creatine monohydrate (CM) on mean power (MP) and peak power (PP) from the Wingate anaerobic test (WAnT), body weight (BW), 1-repetition maximum (1RM) bilateral leg extension (LE) strength, and 1RM bench press (BP) strength. This study used a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design. Twenty-two men (mean ± SD: age = 22.1 ± 2.0 years; height = 178.0 ± 5.8 cm; body weight [BW] = 77.6 ± 7.6 kg) were randomly assigned to either a supplement (SUPP; n = 10) or placebo (PLAC; n = 12) group. The SUPP group ingested 20 g·d?1 of CM powder for 7 days, whereas the PLAC ingested 20 g·d?1 of maltodextrin powder. Measurements for the PLAC and SUPP groups included BW, PP, and MP from two 30-second WAnTs (separated by 7 minutes), and 1RM strength for LE and BP. Testing was conducted before (PRE) and after (POST) 7 days of ingesting either the supplement or placebo. The results of this study indicated that there was a significant (p ≤ 0.05) increase from PRE to POST testing in MP for the SUPP group (5.4%) but not for the PLAC group (-0.3%). There were no between-group differences, however, for 1RM LE and 1RM BP strength. Furthermore, there were no changes in PP or BW for either group. The findings of this study indicated that loading with 20 g·d?1 of CM for 7 days increased MP (5.4% increase) from the WAnT, but it had no effect on strength (1RM LE and 1RM BP), PP, or BW.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a drink containing creatine, amino acids, and protein vs. a carbohydrate placebo on body composition, strength, muscular endurance, and anaerobic performance before and after 10 weeks of resistance training. Fifty-one men (mean +/- SD; age: 21.8 +/- 2.9 years) were randomly assigned to either the test drink (TEST; n = 23) or the placebo (PLAC; n = 28) and performed two 30-second Wingate Anaerobic Tests for determination of peak power (PP) and mean power (MP), were weighed underwater for percent body fat (%fat) and fat-free mass (FFM), and were tested for 1 repetition maximum (1RM) dynamic constant external resistance strength and muscular endurance (END; number of repetitions performed with 80% of 1RM) on the bilateral leg extension (LE) and free-weight bench press (BP) exercises. The testing was conducted before (PRE) and after (POST) 10 weeks of resistance training (3 sets of 10 repetitions with 80% of the subject's 1RM performed 3 times per week) on the LE and BP exercises. Body weight, FFM, LE 1RM, LE END, BP 1RM, and BP END increased (p < 0.05), whereas %fat decreased (p < 0.05) from PRE to POST for both the TEST and PLAC groups. Peak power and MP, however, increased for the TEST group, but not for the PLAC group. These results suggested that the creatine-, amino acid-, and protein-containing drink provided no additional benefits when compared with carbohydrates alone for eliciting changes in body composition, strength, and muscular endurance after a 10-week resistance training period. The TEST drink was, however, more effective than carbohydrates alone for improving anaerobic power production.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the acute effects of a caffeine-containing supplement on upper- and lower-body strength and muscular endurance as well as anaerobic capabilities. Thirty-seven resistance-trained men (mean +/- SD, age: 21 +/- 2 years) volunteered to participate in this study. On the first laboratory visit, the subjects performed 2 Wingate Anaerobic Tests (WAnTs) to determine peak power (PP) and mean power (MP), as well as tests for 1 repetition maximum (1RM), dynamic constant external resistance strength, and muscular endurance (TOTV; total volume of weight lifted during an endurance test with 80% of the 1RM) on the bilateral leg extension (LE) and free-weight bench press (BP) exercises. Following a minimum of 48 hours of rest, the subjects returned to the laboratory for the second testing session and were randomly assigned to 1 of 2 groups: a supplement group (SUPP; n = 17), which ingested a caffeine-containing supplement, or a placebo group (PLAC; n = 20), which ingested a cellulose placebo. One hour after ingesting either the caffeine-containing supplement or the placebo, the subjects performed 2 WAnTs and were tested for 1RM strength and muscular endurance on the LE and BP exercises. The results indicated that there was a significant (p < 0.05) increase in BP 1RM for the SUPP group, but not for the PLAC group. The caffeine-containing supplement had no effect, however, on LE 1RM, LE TOTV, BP TOTV, PP, and MP. Thus, the caffeine-containing supplement may be an effective supplement for increasing upper-body strength and, therefore, could be useful for competitive and recreational athletes who perform resistance training.  相似文献

Aim

Our study aimed to investigate changes of different markers for routine assessment of fatigue and recovery in response to high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

Methods

22 well-trained male and female team sport athletes (age, 23.0 ± 2.7 years; V̇O2max, 57.6 ± 8.6 mL·min·kg−1) participated in a six-day running-based HIIT-microcycle with a total of eleven HIIT sessions. Repeated sprint ability (RSA; criterion measure of fatigue and recovery), countermovement jump (CMJ) height, jump efficiency in a multiple rebound jump test (MRJ), 20-m sprint performance, muscle contractile properties, serum concentrations of creatinkinase (CK), c-reactive protein (CRP) and urea as well as perceived muscle soreness (DOMS) were measured pre and post the training program as well as after 72 h of recovery.

Results

Following the microcycle significant changes (p < 0.05) in RSA as well as in CMJ and MRJ performance could be observed, showing a decline (%Δ ± 90% confidence limits, ES = effect size; RSA: -3.8 ± 1.0, ES = -1.51; CMJ: 8.4 ± 2.9, ES = -1.35; MRJ: 17.4 ± 4.5, ES = -1.60) and a return to baseline level (RSA: 2.8 ± 2.6, ES = 0.53; CMJ: 4.1 ± 2.9, ES = 0.68; MRJ: 6.5 ± 4.5, ES = 0.63) after 72 h of recovery. Athletes also demonstrated significant changes (p < 0.05) in muscle contractile properties, CK, and DOMS following the training program and after the recovery period. In contrast, CRP and urea remained unchanged throughout the study. Further analysis revealed that the accuracy of markers for assessment of fatigue and recovery in comparison to RSA derived from a contingency table was insufficient. Multiple regression analysis also showed no correlations between changes in RSA and any of the markers.

Conclusions

Mean changes in measures of neuromuscular function, CK and DOMS are related to HIIT induced fatigue and subsequent recovery. However, low accuracy of a single or combined use of these markers requires the verification of their applicability on an individual basis.  相似文献

To date, there is a lack of information about the optimal conditions of the warm-up to lead to a better performance in elite tennis players. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of two different warm-up protocols (dynamic vs. self-myofascial release with foam rolling) on neuromuscular variables associated with physical determinants of tennis performance. Using a crossover randomised experimental design, eleven professional men tennis players (20.6 ± 3.5 years) performed either a dynamic warm-up (DWU) or a self-myofascial release with foam rolling (SMFR) protocol. DWU consisted of 8 min of dynamic exercises at increasing intensity and SMFR consisted of 8 min of rolling on each lower extremity unilaterally. Just before (baseline) and after completing warm-up protocols, players performed a countermovement jump (CMJ), the 5-0-5 agility test, a 10-m sprint test and the Straight Leg Raise and Thomas tests to assess range of motion. Compared to baseline, the DWU was more effective to reduce the time in the 5-0-5 test than SMFR (-2.23 vs. 0.44%, respectively, p = 0.042, ηp2 = 0.19). However, both warm-up protocols similarly affected CMJ (2.32 vs. 0.61%, p = 0.373, ηp2 = 0.04) and 10-m sprint time changes (-1.26 vs. 1.03%, p = 0.124, ηp2 = 0.11). Changes in range of motion tests were also similar with both protocols (p = 0.448–1.000, ηp2 = 0.00–0.02). Overall, both DWU and SMFR were effective to prepare well-trained tennis players for highly demanding neuromuscular actions. However, DWU offered a better preparation for performing change of direction and sprint actions, and hence, in high-performance tennis players, the warm-up should include dynamic exercises.  相似文献

Purpose

To determine if prediabetes phenotype influences improvements in glucose homeostasis with resistance training (RT).

Methods

Older, overweight individuals with prediabetes (n = 159; aged 60±5 yrs; BMI 33±4 kg/m2) completed a supervised RT program twice per week for 12 weeks. Body weight and composition, strength, fasting plasma glucose, 2-hr oral glucose tolerance, and Matsuda-Defronza estimated insulin sensitivity index (ISI) were assessed before and after the intervention. Participants were categorized according to their baseline prediabetes phenotype as impaired fasting glucose only (IFG) (n = 73), impaired glucose tolerance only (IGT) (n = 21), or combined IFG and IGT (IFG/IGT) (n = 65).

Results

Chest press and leg press strength increased 27% and 18%, respectively, following the 12-week RT program (both p<0.05). Waist circumference (-1.0%; pre 109.3±10.3 cm, post 108.2±10.6 cm) and body fat (-0.6%; pre 43.7±6.8%, post 43.1±6.8%) declined, and lean body mass (+1.3%; pre 52.0±10.4 kg, post 52.7±10.7 kg) increased following the intervention. Fasting glucose concentrations did not change (p>0.05) following the intervention. However, 2-hr oral glucose tolerance improved in those with IGT (pre 8.94±0.72 mmol/l, post 7.83±1.11 mmol/l, p<0.05) and IFG/IGT (pre 9.66±1.11mmol/l, post 8.60±2.00 mmol/l) but not in those with IFG (pre 6.27±1.28mmol/l, post 6.33± 1.55 mmol/l). There were no significant changes in ISI or glucose area under the curve following the RT program.

Conclusions

RT without dietary intervention improves 2-hr oral glucose tolerance in individuals with prediabetes. However, the improvements in glucose homeostasis with RT appear limited to those with IGT or combined IFG and IGT.

In the present study we investigated displacement, time, velocity and acceleration history of center of mass (COM) and electrical activity of knee extensors to estimate the dominance of the factors influencing the vertical velocity in squat jumps (SJs), countermovement jumps (CMJs) and drop jumps (DJs) performed with small (40°) and large (80°) range of joint motion (SROM and LROM). The maximum vertical velocity (v4) was 23.4% (CMJ) and 7.8% (DJ) greater when the jumps were performed with LROM compared with SROM (p < 0.05). These differences are considerably less than it could be expected from the greater COM and knee angular displacement and duration of active state. This small difference can be attributed to the greater deceleration during eccentric phase (CMJ:32.1%, DJ:91.5%) in SROM than that in LROM. v4 was greater for SJ in LROM than for SJ in SROM indicating the significance of the longer active state and greater activation level (p < 0.001). The difference in v4 was greater between SJ and CMJ in SROM (38.6%) than in LROM (9.0%), suggesting that elastic energy storage and re-use can be a dominant factor in the enhancement of vertical velocity of CMJ and DJ compared with SJ performed with SROM.  相似文献

This study was designed to assess the effect of sport practice and warm-up duration on the morning–evening differences in muscle power and fatigue during performance of anaerobic exercise and perceptual responses to it. Twenty-two male physical education students – twelve trained (TG) (21.51 ± 1.25 years, 182.17 ± 4.37 cm and 82.88 ± 11.23 kg) and ten untrained (NTG) (23.89 ± 3.17 years, 176.8 ± 2.2 cm and 82.24 ± 8.43 kg) – participated in a crossover randomized study. They were asked to perform a 30-s Wingate test during six experimental sessions (three at 08:00 and three at 18:00 h) after different active warm-up (AWU) durations (5 min, 15 min, or 20 min). The AWU consisted of pedaling at a constant pace of 60 rpm against 50% of maximal aerobic power. Rate of perceived exertion (RPE) was recorded after the AWU and again immediately after the Wingate test. Heart rate and temperature (T) were recorded during each session at rest, after AWU and immediately at the end of the Wingate test. During the Wingate test, peak power (PP), mean power (MP), and the fatigue index were recorded. While the RPE estimations were higher in NTG, no time-of-day effect was recorded in either experimental group (morning or evening). T, PP, and MP were higher in the afternoon than in the morning (p < 0.001 for PP and MP; p < 0.05 for T). Similarly, PP and MP during the Wingate test were significantly higher in the TG than in the NTG (p < 0.001). The morning–evening difference of PP and MP was affected by AWU duration; AWU15 was best in the morning for improving lower limb power for both the TG and NTG, whereas reducing this period to 5 min in the evening was appropriate for TG only.  相似文献

This study aimed to verify whether basketball players are able to maintain strength (handgrip), jump (countermovement jump [CMJ]), sprint (10 m and 10 m bouncing the ball [10 mBB]), and interlimb coordination (i.e., synchronized hand and foot flexions and extensions at 80, 120, and 180 bpm) performances at the end of their game. Ten young (age 15.7 ± 0.2 years) male basketball players volunteered for this study. During the friendly game, heart rate (HR), rate of perceived exertion (RPE), and rate of muscle pain (RMP) were assessed to evaluate the exercise intensity. Overall, players spent 80% of the time playing at intensities higher than 85% HRmax. Main effects (p < 0.05) for game periods emerged for HR and the number of players involved in a single action, with lower occurrence of maximal efforts and higher involvement of teammates after the first 2 periods. At the end of the game, players reported high (p < 0.05) RPE (15.7 ± 2.4) and RMP (5.2 ± 2.3) values; decreased (p < 0.05) sprint capabilities (10 m: pre = 1.79 ± 0.09 seconds, post = 1.84 ± 0.08 seconds; 10 mBB: pre = 1.81 ± 0.11 seconds, post = 1.96 ± 0.08 seconds); increased (p < 0.05) interlimb coordination at 180 bpm (pre = 33.3 ± 20.2 seconds, post = 43.9 ± 19.8 seconds); and maintained jump (pre = 35.2 ± 5.2 cm, post = 35.7 ± 5.2 cm), handgrip (pre = 437 ± 73 N, post = 427 ± 55 N), and coordinative performances at lower frequencies of executions (80 bpm: pre = 59.7 ± 1.3 seconds, post = 60.0 ± 0.0 seconds; 120 bpm: pre = 54.7 ± 12.3 seconds, post = 57.3 ± 6.7 seconds). These findings indicate that the heavy load of the game exerts beneficial effects on the efficiency of executive and attentive control functions involved in complex motor behaviors. Coaches should structure training sessions that couple intense physical exercises with complex coordination tasks to improve the attentional capabilities of the players.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of a complex training program, a combined practice of weight training and plyometrics, on explosive strength development of young basketball players. Twenty-five young male athletes, aged 14-15 years old, were assessed using squat jump (SJ), countermovement jump (CMJ), Abalakov test (ABA), depth jump (DJ), mechanical power (MP), and medicine ball throw (MBT), before and after a 10-week in-season training program. Both the control group (CG; n = 10) and the experimental group (EG; n = 15) kept up their regular sports practice; additionally, the EG performed 2 sessions per week of a complex training program. The EG significantly improved in the SJ, CMJ, ABA, and MBT values (p < 0.05). The CG significantly decreased the values (p < 0.05) of CMJ, ABA, and MP, while significantly increasing the MBT values (p < 0.05). Our results support the use of complex training to improve the upper and lower body explosivity levels in young basketball players. In conclusion, this study showed that more strength conditioning is needed during the sport practice season. Furthermore, we also conclude that complex training is a useful working tool for coaches, innovative in this strength-training domain, equally contributing to a better time-efficient training.  相似文献

The study was designed to examine the gender-related differences in maximum mechanical power output in various short-burst activities during growth. The subject sample consisted of four subgroups: 9 boys (14.11 +/- 0.6 yr), 9 boys (10.67 +/- 0.71 yr), 7 girls (14.29 +/- 0.49 yr), 7 girls (10.57 +/- 0.54 yr). We measured peak power (PP), mean power (MP), fatigue index (FI) during 30-s WAnT, squat jump height (SJH) and power (SJP), and counter movement jump height (CMJH) and power (CMJP), maximum speed over 20-metre distance (S20). Lactation concentration was measured in the 3rd and 5th minutes after the WAnT Ratio normalisation and ANCOVA were used to remove the influence of the differences in muscle (MM) and body mass (BM). Male adolescents had higher absolute values of PP (P < 0.05), MP (P < 0.05) than female. Ratio normalisation showed that boys had higher PP/BM (P < 0.05), PP/MM (P < 0.05), MP/BM (P < 0.05), MP/MM (P < 0.06) than girls. The ANCOVA adjustment for MM showed differences between genders in PP (P < 0.001), MP (P < 0.001), SJH (P < 0.05), SJP (P < 0.05) and CMJP (P < 0.001), whereas the ANCOVA adjustment for BM showed differences only in PP (P < 0.001), MP (P < 0.001). Prepubertal boys had higher absolute values only in SJP (P < 0.05). We concluded that variations in body composition could not be the only key to gender-related differences in power output in short-burst activities.  相似文献

This study examined the acute and long-term effects of two static stretching protocols of equal duration, performed either as a single stretch or multiple shorter duration repetitions on hip hyperextension range of motion (ROM) and single leg countermovement jump height (CMJ). Thirty female gymnasts were randomly assigned to stretching (SG) or control groups (CG). The SG performed two different protocols of static stretching, three times per week for 9 weeks. One leg performed repeated stretching (3 × 30 s with 30 s rest) while the other leg performed a single stretch (90 s). The CG continued regular training. ROM and CMJ were measured pre- and 2 min post-stretching on weeks 0, 3, 6, 9, and 3 weeks into detraining. CMJ height increased over time irrespective of group (main effect time, p = 0.001), with no statistical difference between groups (main effect group, p = 0.272). Three-way ANOVA showed that, CMJ height after stretching was not affected by either stretching protocol at any time point (p = 0.503 to 0.996). Both stretching protocols equally increased ROM on weeks 6 (10.9 ± 13.4%, p < 0.001, d = 0.42), and 9 (21.5 ± 13.4%, p < 0.001, d = 0.78), and this increase was maintained during detraining (17.0 ± 15.0%, p < 0.001, d = 0.68). No increase in ROM was observed in the CG (p > 0.874). Static stretching of long duration applied either as single or multiple bouts of equal duration, results in similar acute and long-term improvements in ROM. Furthermore, both stretching protocols do not acutely affect subsequent CMJ performance, and this effect is not influenced by the large increase in ROM and CMJ overtime.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to assess the usefulness of the vertical jump and estimated vertical-jump power as a field test for weightlifting. Estimated PP output from the vertical jump was correlated with lifting ability among 64 USA national-level weightlifters (junior and senior men and women). Vertical jump was measured using the Kinematic Measurement System, consisting of a switch mat interfaced with a laptop computer. Vertical jumps were measured using a hands-on-hips method. A counter-movement vertical jump (CMJ) and a static vertical jump (SJ, 90 degrees knee angle) were measured. Two trials were given for each condition. Test-retest reliability for jump height was intra-class correlation (ICC) = 0.98 (CMJ) and ICC = 0.96 (SJ). Athletes warmed up on their own for 2-3 minutes, followed by 2 practice jumps at each condition. Peak power (PP) was estimated using the equations developed by Sayers et al. (24). The athletes' current lifting capabilities were assessed by a questionnaire, and USA national coaches checked the listed values. Differences between groups (i.e., men versus women, juniors versus resident lifters) were determined using t-tests (p < or = 0.05). Correlations were determined using Pearson's r. Results indicate that vertical jumping PP is strongly associated with weightlifting ability. Thus, these results indicate that PP derived from the vertical jump (CMJ or SJ) can be a valuable tool in assessing weightlifting performance.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the presence of a practice effect on the Wingate anaerobic test (WAnT). Twenty-five young adult men (mean age = 20 years) performed 2 trials of the WAnT, which were separated by 7 days. Mean peak power (PP) and mean power (MP) for trials I and II were compared using a 1-way repeated measures analysis of variance to determine if a practice effect existed. Mean PP and MP scores were significantly higher (p < 0.025) on trial II (867.64 and 634.68 W for PP and MP, respectively) than on trial I (764.48 and 604.92 W), indicating that a practice effect occurred. Effect size (Cohen's d) for PP and MP was 0.72 and 0.35, indicating a large effect and small effect, respectively. Therefore, at least 1 full administration should be performed prior to a baseline power output measurement.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to describe anaerobic peak and mean power characteristics of arms as a function of age, gender and body composition among 50 girls and 50 boys 14 to 19 years of age. Peak (PP) and mean power (MP) output were determined during arm cranking (Wingate anaerobic test). Fat-free weight (FFW) was estimated from skinfolds, and lean arm volume (LAV) was determined by water displacement, corrected for fat volume. PP and MP increased progressively and significantly (P less than 0.05) with age for boys but not for the girls. Boys had significantly larger absolute PP and MP outputs than girls at comparable ages. PP and MP corrected for lean tissue volume were greater in older than younger boys (P less than 0.05), but did not vary significantly with age for girls. Absolute (W) PP and MP were highly correlated with LAV (r = 0.82; r = 0.75) and FFW (r = 0.84; r = 0.78) among boys. The respective r values for girls were 0.60 and 0.49 (LAV); 0.78 and 0.60 (FFW). Absolute peak and mean power, respectively, were more highly correlated with LAV (r = 0.90; r = 0.84) and FFW (r = 0.90; r = 0.85) for the combined data for boys and girls than for similar gender specific comparisons. In conclusion, both anaerobic PP and MP of arms during adolescence are highly correlated with lean tissue volume and fat-free weight, particularly among boys.  相似文献

This study examined the relationships between thigh muscle volume (TMV) and aerobic and anaerobic performance in children. A total of 32 children, 16 boys and 16 girls, aged 9.9 (0.3) years completed a treadmill running test to exhaustion for the determination of peak oxygen uptake (peak O2) and a Wingate Anaerobic Test (WAnT) for the determination of peak power (PP) and mean power (MP). The volume of the right thigh muscle was determined using magnetic resonance imaging. TMV was not significantly different in boys and girls [2.39 (0.29) l vs 2.18 (0.38) l, P > 0.05]. Peak O2 and MP were significantly higher in boys than girls (P < 0.01) whether expressed in absolute, mass-related or allometrically scaled terms. Absolute PP was not significantly different in boys and girls but mass-related and allometrically scaled values were higher in boys (P < 0.01). TMV was correlated with absolute peak O2, PP and MP in both sexes (r = 0.52–0.89, P < 0.01). In boys, mass-related PP was correlated with TMV (r =0.53, P < 0.01), and in girls mass-related peak O2 was correlated with TMV (r = −0.61, P < 0.01). However, in neither sex were allometrically scaled peak O2, PP or MP correlated with TMV (P > 0.05). There were no significant differences between boys and girls in terms of peak O2, PP or MP when expressed in a ratio to TMV or allometrically scaled TMV. In conclusion, this study has demonstrated that, when body size is appropriately accounted for using allometric scaling, TMV is unrelated to indices of aerobic and anaerobic power in 10-year-old children. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a single bout of whole-body vibration on isometric squat (IS) and countermovement jump (CMJ) performance. Nine moderately resistance-trained men were tested for peak force (PF) during the IS and jump height (JH) and peak power (PP) during the CMJ. Average integrated electromyography (IEMG) was measured from the vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, and biceps femoris muscles. Subjects performed the 2 treatment conditions, vibration or sham, in a randomized order. Subjects were tested for baseline performance variables in both the IS and CMJ, and were exposed to either a 30-second bout of whole-body vibration or sham intervention. Subjects were tested immediately following the vibration or sham treatment, as well as 5, 15, and 30 minutes posttreatment. Whole-body vibration resulted in a significantly higher (p < or = 0.05) JH during the CMJ immediately following vibration, as compared with the sham condition. No significant differences were observed in CMJ PP; PF during IS or IEMG of the vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, or biceps femoris during the CMJ; or IS between vibration and sham treatments. Whole-body vibration may be a potential warm-up procedure for increasing vertical JH. Future research is warranted addressing the influence of various protocols of whole-body vibration (i.e., duration, amplitude, frequency) on athletic performance.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to examine the effects of a traditional resistance training scheme on the relative strength (RS), relative peak-force (RPF), strength deficit (SDef), and vertical jump and sprint abilities in elite young soccer players. Thirty-five under-20 soccer players from two professional clubs were assessed before and after a 4-week competitive period. One team performed 12 sessions of a structured resistance training program and the other maintained their regular soccer-specific training and competitive routines. Resistance training sessions consisted of half-squat and jump-squat exercises at intensities of 30–80% of the one-repetition maximum. Both teams performed pre- and post-measurements in the following order: (1) countermovement jump (CMJ), (2) 20-m sprint, and (3) half-squat one-repetition maximum to determine the RS, RPF, and SDef. A two-way analysis of variance was used to test for group x time interaction among variables. Effect sizes (ES) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were also calculated. Group x time interactions were demonstrated for RS ([ES [95%CI] = 1.21 [0.57; 1.85], P = 0.001), RPF (ES [95%CI] = 1.18 [0.52; 1.80], P = 0.001), SDef (ES [95%CI] = 0.86 [0.01; 1.71], P = 0.04), and CMJ (ES [95%CI] = 0.64 [0.28; 0.99], P = 0.001); whereas a non-significant interaction was observed for 20-m sprint performance (ES [95%CI] = 0.02 [-0.32; 0.36], P = 0.85). Traditional strength-power oriented training resulted in improved maximum strength performance and CMJ ability but, paradoxically, increased the SDef. As a consequence, stronger athletes are not necessarily able to use greater percentages of their peak-force against relatively lighter loads.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to conduct a comprehensive examination of caffeine’s effects on countermovement jump (CMJ) performance. In this randomized, double-blind, crossover study, twenty-two resistance-trained men (age: 28 ± 5 years; height: 183 ± 5 cm; weight: 79 ± 10 kg; habitual caffeine intake: 127 ± 102 mg/day) performed the CMJ test on two occasions, following the ingestion of capsule containing 3 mg/kg of caffeine or placebo (3 mg/kg of dextrose). Fifteen outcomes derived from the force plate during the CMJ test were analyzed. As compared to placebo, there was a significant ergogenic effect of caffeine for peak force, force at eccentric to concentric action transition, time to peak force, peak power, maximum rate of power development, peak velocity, power at peak force, velocity at peak power, velocity at peak force, and vertical jump height. Effect sizes ranged from 0.11 to 0.38, p-values ranged from 0.048 to 0.002. There were no significant differences between caffeine and placebo for mean force, mean power, time to peak power, impulse at 300 ms, and force at peak power. This study shows that caffeine ingestion impacts a wide array of outcomes derived from the force plate during the CMJ test, not only jump height. From a practical perspective, the findings suggest that: (1) individuals interested in acute increases in CMJ performance may consider caffeine supplementation; and, (2) caffeine intake should be standardized before CMJ testing.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the reliability of surface electromyography (sEMG) measurements after submersion (swimming) for 90 min. Isometric maximal voluntary contractions (MVC) on land and in water were collected from eight muscles on the right side of the body in 12 healthy participants (6 women and 6 men). Repeated measures analyses of variance (general linear model ANOVA) showed no significant differences in the peak amplitude MVC scores between land pre and post measurements for all muscles, p > .05. The mean of the Intraclass correlation coefficient (1, 1) for land pre and land post was .985 with (95% Cl = .978–.990), for land pre and water pre .976 (95% Cl = .964–.984) and for land pre and post, water pre and post .981 (95% Cl = .974–.987). Measuring sEMG on land before and after a prolonged submersion is highly reliable without additional waterproofing when using electrodes with 57 mm diameter.  相似文献
