Six near-term ewes were instrumented to measure regional blood flows in the maternal and fetal subthoracic structures and allowed to recover for 5 days. Control blood flows were measured and 10(-3) molar forskolin was infused in the fetal hindlimb vein at 1 ml/min. After 10 min of infusion, maternal and fetal regional blood flows were measured. The fetal blood pressure was 44 +/- 3 mmHg in the control state and 40 +/- 4 mmHg after forskolin, P less than 0.056. The fetal renal vascular resistance changed from 24.4 +/- 2.4 to 17.5 +/- 1.7 mmHg.ml-1.min.g, P less than 0.005. The placenta had a control resistance of 27.7 +/- 5.0 and 25.6 +/- 5.1 mmHg.ml-1.min.g after forskolin, P less than 0.05. The placental membranes showed vasodilation: control resistance was 261 +/- 49 and 168 +/- 39 mmHg.ml-1.min.g after forskolin, P less than 0.02. The generalized vasodilation of the fetal circulation was paralleled in the maternal circulation. Forskolin, a lipid soluble diterpene, apparently had a placental clearance close to the theoretical maximum. Vasodilation was seen in the maternal renal, placental and uterine vasculatures. Maternal blood pressure was unchanged. Maternal placental vascular resistance was 47.4 +/- 3.0 mmHg.ml-1.min.g in the control state and 40.6 +/- 3.3 mmHg.ml-1.min.g after forskolin, P less than 0.02. Forskolin is a vasodilator in both the fetal and maternal circulations. The maintenance of a relatively normal blood pressure in the face of regional vasodilation shows that forskolin may have a positive inotropic effect on the fetal heart. These results indicate that neither the fetal nor the maternal ovine placental vasculature is maximally dilated in the control state.  相似文献

1. 1.|Pyridostigmine administration decreased resting heart rate by 11 ± 7 beats/min and resting oesophageal temperature by 0.23 ± 12°C after 50 h (P < 0.05). In addition, red blood cell cholinesterase activity was decreased an average of 43 ± 7% after 50 h of pyridostigmine treatment.

2. 2.|The lower heart rates and core temperatures at rest were continued during high intensity exercise in a 35°C environment. Whole body sweating was 12 ± 18% higher (P = 0.20) during exercise in the heat after 50 h of pyridostigmine treatment.

Cardiovascular and sympathoadrenal responses to stress in swim-trained rats   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6  
Chronic exposure to swim stress (i.e., training) is associated with functional adaptations of the cardiovascular system. On the other hand, repeated exposure to tail shock, an emotional stress, often results in deleterious changes in resting blood pressure and myocardial pathology. We hypothesized that the pathological adaptation following chronic exposure to tail shock was associated with a larger acute physiological response compared with swim stress. Therefore, acute responses to swim and shock stress were compared. A second concern of this study examined the extent to which adaptation to swim training influences responses to predictable tail shock stress. The cardiovascular and sympathoadrenal responses to swim stress, using 1% body wt attached to the tail, were compared with predictable tail shock (0.2-0.4 mA intensity, 1-s duration, 1/min) in two groups of Long-Evans male rats. In the first, 11 rats were studied following 5-7 wk of swim training, consisting of daily 1-h sessions of swimming with 2% body wt attached to their tails. They were compared with an age-matched nontrained (NT) group (n = 8). During swimming, the trained animals showed significantly lower heart rate (387 +/- 10 vs. 449 +/- 18 beats/min) and significantly lower lactate (0.9 +/- 0.09 vs. 2.0 +/- 0.24 mmol/l), epinephrine (332 +/- 57 vs. 739 pg/ml), and corticosterone (32 +/- 10 vs. 62 +/- 9 micrograms/dl) responses. Cardiovascular responses to hypoxia and hypercapnia in barodenervated rats   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Experiments were performed to examine the role of the arterial baroreceptors in the cardiovascular responses to acute hypoxia and hypercapnia in conscious rats chronically instrumented to monitor systemic hemodynamics. One group of rats remained intact, whereas a second group was barodenervated. Both groups of rats retained arterial chemoreceptive function as demonstrated by augmented ventilation in response to hypoxia. The cardiovascular effects to varying inspired levels of O2 and CO2 were examined and compared between intact and barodenervated rats. No differences between groups were noted in response to mild hypercapnia (5% CO2); however, the bradycardia and reduction in cardiac output observed in intact rats breathing 10% CO2 were eliminated by barodenervation. In addition, hypocapnic hypoxia caused a marked fall in blood pressure and total peripheral resistance (TPR) in barodenervated rats compared with controls. Similar differences in TPR were observed between the groups in response to isocapnic and hypercapnic hypoxia as well. It is concluded that the arterial baroreflex is an important component of the overall cardiovascular responses to both hypercapnic and hypoxic stimuli in the conscious rat.  相似文献

Cardiovascular responses of heart transplant patients to exercise training   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT) represents an effective alternative for individuals with end-stage heart disease. The current literature reports only the responses of OHT patients to greater than or equal to 4 mo of exercise training (ET) and frequently lacks adequate controls. Most programs currently treating OHT patients usually provide 6-12 wk of ET. This study describes the effects of a 10-wk supervised ET program in 12 male OHT patients and 5 other male OHT patients who served as a comparison group. Graded exercise tests were performed before and after ET. After ET, maximal O2 consumption was significantly greater for the ET group than the comparison group (P less than 0.05) and the mean increase in peak heart rate was 18 +/- 4 and 6 +/- 4 (SE) min-1 for ET and comparison groups, respectively (P less than 0.05). Maximal ventilation was also significantly greater for the ET group at after ET, while resting heart rate and blood pressure and peak blood pressure, O2 pulse, respiratory rate, and ventilatory equivalents for O2 and CO2 were not significantly changed. We conclude that after OHT a 10-wk ET program improves maximal O2 consumption and, by improving peak heart rate, improves O2 delivery.  相似文献

To investigate splenic erythrocyte volume after exercise and the effect on hematocrit- and hemoglobin-based plasma volume equations, nine men cycled at an intensity of 60% maximal O(2) uptake for 5-, 10-, or 15-min duration, followed by an incremental ride to exhaustion. The reduction in spleen volume, calculated using (99m)Tc-labeled erythrocytes, was not significantly different among the three submaximal rides (5 min = 28%, 10 min = 30%, 15 min = 36%; P = 0.26). The incremental ride to exhaustion resulted in a 56% reduction in spleen volume, which recovered to baseline levels within 20 min. Plasma catecholamines were inversely related to spleen volume after exercise (r = 0.70-0.84; P < 0.0001). There were no differences in red cell or total blood volume pre- to postexercise; however, a significant reduction in plasma volume was observed (18.9%; P < 0.01). There was no difference between the iodinated albumin and the hematocrit and hemoglobin methods of assessing plasma volume changes. These results suggest that the spleen regulates its volume in response to an intensity-dependent signal, and plasma catecholamines appear partially responsible. Splenic release of erythrocytes has no effect on indirect measures of plasma volume.  相似文献
