The species diversity, abundance, and biomass of zooplankton in the pelagic and coastal zones of Lake Kandrykul were studied in 2007–2012. The community was dominated by large Cladocera. The maximum abundance of zooplankton was observed in the anomalously warm 2010. In July, the highest abundance of zooplankton (1300 thousand ind./m3) was recorded near the southern coast in stands of mare′s-tail Hippurus vulgaris; that of biomass (9 g/m3) was found near the northern shore in stands of narrow-leaved cattail Typha angustifolia. The lowest values of the number and biomass of aquatic invertebrates were observed in the pelagial (32 thousand ind./m3 and 0.1 g/m3) and along the M5 motorway stretching aside the northeastern coast (188 thousand ind./m3 and 0.5 g/m3). The Shannon index value (1.3–2.1) corresponded to the meso-eutrophic type of water bodies. In 2007, according to the Mjaemets trophicity index (E), the lake ecosystem was oligotrophic (E 0.11); in 2010–2012 it was mesotrophic (in the pelagial, E value was 0.54; in the open littoral it was 0.76) or weakly eutrophic (E values of protected littoral were 1.52). The estimates of water trophy as assessed by zooplankton are close to those assessed by the number and biomass of phytoplankton (meso-eutrophic type). The rapid eutrophication of the lake ecosystem was revealed. In 6 years the trophic status of the lake changed from oligo-mesotrophic to meso-eutrophic.  相似文献

In surveys conducted during 2000–2005, 39 taxa of aquatic oligochaetes belonging to the families Enchytraeidae and Naididae were found in Lake Tonle Sap in the Mekong River Basin, Cambodia. Dominated by naidines and pristinines (29 taxa), they mainly comprised widely distributed species as well as South Asian and Southeast Asian species. Among the four areas studied, the littoral regions of the lake—where inundated forests and aquatic vegetation developed during the flooded seasons—presented the highest number of species. Submerged vegetation in the littoral Lake Tonle Sap harbored abundant epiphytic oligochaetes, especially Stylaria fossularis. In contrast to the rich abundance of naidine and pristinine fauna, tubificines and ryhacodrilines were scarce in and around the lake, irrespective of the vegetation in their habitats. Several Aulodrilus species and Branchiura sowerbyi were the main representatives of the benthic oligochaete assemblages throughout the offshore zone of the lake without vegetation. It is noteworthy that the widely distributed tubificines Tubifex tubifex and Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri were not found in any surveyed locality.  相似文献

A parasitological study was performed of chars of the genus Salvelinus inhabiting Lake Kronotskoe (Kamchatka Peninsula)—S. malma, S. albus, S. schmidtii, and S. kronocius, as well as of juvenile Salvelinus spp. Twenty-three species of parasites, including six species new for the lake, Hennequya zschokkei, Protteocephalus longicollis, Diphyllobothrium dendriticum, Crepidostomum sp., Echinorhynchus salmonis, and Paracanthobdella livanowi, were found. With consideration of published data, in chars of this water body, 28 species of parasites were recorded, including seven species (N. cf. pungitius, B. luciopercae, Crepidostomum sp., Cr. fausti, Cr. cf. cooperi, Eubothrium crassium, and Proteocephalus sp.), whose presence or species identification in the lake ecosystem need confirmation. Two species (N. rutili and Diphyllobothrium sp.) are removed from the list. Parasites common for all species of chars were revealed. They include Myxobolus arcticus, E. salvelini, D. ditretum, Crepidostotum sp., Cr. farionis, Cr. metoecus, Cystidicola farionis, Cucullanus truttae, Philonema oncorhynchi, and Salmincola carpionis. Cluster analysis of the fauna of parasites of different species of chars demonstrated considerable differences in infestation, which indicates differences between them in preference for food items and occupied biotopes and thereby supports the ecological differentiation of chars in the basin of Lake Kronotskoe. S. albus and S. kronocius are most similar in parasitofauna, which is determined by their predation; S. malma as a benthophage is infected by the same species of parasites, but considerably less intensively. Extremely high indices of population numbers of some parasite species are considered as a manifestation of the Krebs cycle in parasites under the conditions of an isolated lake.  相似文献

Diverse measurements of nutrient status indicators were used to test the severity of physiological phosphorus (P) limitation of phytoplankton among lake systems ranging from oligotrophic to eutrophic, based on P and chlorophyll a (Chl a) concentrations. Metabolic assays and particulate nutrient ratios were used to estimate nutrient status at sites located in Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and Lake Huron. Variable fluorescence ratios (F v/F m), relative electron transport rates and their response to irradiance were measured by the pulse-amplitude-modulated fluorometer. Under summer stratified conditions, P deficiency was strongest in the oligotrophic sites and nitrogen (N) status indicators and Chl a variable parameters revealed no severe N deficiency. Nutrient amendment assays showed positive associations with P additions and Chl a fluorescence parameters at P-deficient sites. In the most oligotrophic sites, N additions revealed a modest increase only detected by the Chl a fluorescence parameters. Phytoplankton communities were also associated with nutrient status, where chrysophytes and cryptophytes were important in P-deficient sites and cyanobacteria, phyrrophyta, and diatoms were prevalent in nutrient-rich sites. The results confirmed that Chl a fluorescence parameters can reveal P deficiency and indicate its severity among the range of trophic status in aquatic systems.  相似文献

Microscopic crustaceans (cladocerans and copepods) and rotifers are the principal zooplankton components of the pelagic food webs in lakes. They play important ecological roles, functioning as essential links between primary producers and planktivorous fish. Individuals zooplankton are important nodes of matter flow in pelagic ecosystems. The zooplankton community structure can provide useful indicators of top–down processes, such as the magnitude or strength of planktivorous predators and the extent of zooplankton grazing. Here we report the abundance of zooplankton taxa (crustaceans and rotifers) that were recorded monthly, from January 1980 to September 2015, at two stations on Lake Kasumigaura, a shallow eutrophic lake that is the second largest lake in Japan. The data include information on 12 copepod species (taxa), 20 cladoceran species (taxa), 40 rotifer species (taxa), and the opossum shrimp (Neomysis intermedia). In the 1980s, the plankton of the lake were characterized by cyanobacterial blooms and the co-dominance of Bosmina and Diaphanosoma in the summer. In addition, the two cladoceran genera, Daphnia galeata and Chydorus sphaericus were often prominent. The plankton profile changed dramatically in the middle (1997–2004) of the present long-term monitoring period, when cyanobacteria disappeared and diatoms became dominant even in the summer; concurrently, only the Diaphanosoma cladocerans were evident. However, in the past 10 years, cyanobacterial blooms, the co-dominance of Bosmina and Diaphanosoma, and D. galeata have re-emerged. Zooplankton monitoring forms part of the Lake Kasumigaura Long-Term Environmental Monitoring Program, which has been conducted by the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) since 1977. Data on other planktonic components (phytoplankton and the elements of microbial food webs) noted during monitoring and on primary production were published in Takamura and Nakagawa (Ecol Res 27:839 2012a, Ecol Res 27:837 2012b, Ecol Res 31:287 2016). Lake Kasumigaura is a core site of the Japan Long-term Ecological Research Network, a member of the International Long-term Ecological Research Network. Our quantitative dataset spanning several decades is unique in terms of the work on lakes and the plankton therein, and is freely available. The dataset has been used in ecological and environmental programs, as well as in studies on lake management.  相似文献

The American rotifer Kellicottia bostoniensis (Rousselet, 1908) was first recorded in the Kama Reservoir (Kama River, Middle Volga basin) in 2012. The species was found in over 70% of the samples; its maximum abundance was 2000 ind./m3. This alien species co-existed with closely related native species K. longispina (Kellicott). This is the easternmost location (56°–57° E) for K. bostoniensis in the Volga River basin and in Europe.  相似文献

The community of anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria (APB) in the water column of Lake Kislo- Sladkoe (Kandalaksha Bay, White Sea), which has recently become separated from the sea, was investigated in March?April 2012, March?April 2013, and in September 2013. The lake, which was previously considered meromictic, was in fact mixed and was strongly affected by the sea. In winter the lake is sometimes washed off with seawater, and this together with the seasonal cycles of succession processes determines the succession of the community. The consequences of the mixing in autumn 2011 could be observed in the APB community as late as autumn 2013. Green-colored green sulfur bacteria (GSB) usually predominated in the chemocline. In winter 2013 stagnation resulted in turbidity of water under the ice, which was responsible for both predominance of the brown GSB forms and the changes ratio of the species of purple sulfur bacteria (PSB) in anoxic water layers. Production of anoxygenic photosynthesis in the lake was at least 240 mg C m-2 day-1 in September and 0–20 mg C m–2 day–1 in March—April, which corresponded to 40 and 69%, respectively, of oxygenic photosynthesis. Okenone-containing purple sulfur bacteria, strain TcakPS12, were isolated in 2012 from lake water. The ells of this strain form filaments of not separated cells. Strain TcakPS12 exhibited 98% similarity with the type strains of Thiocapsa pendens DSM 236 and Thiocapsa bogorovii BBS, as well as with the strains AmPS10 and TcyrPS10, which were isolated from Lake Kislo-Sladkoe in 2010.  相似文献

Data on the infestation of certain fish species by the parasitic copepod Salmincola lavaretus are presented for the first time. The infested fish species included Bauntovsky whitefish (Coregonus baunti), an endemic species from the Maloye and Bolshoye Kapylyushi lakes; Siberian whitefish (C. pidschian) and Siberian cisco (C. sardinella) from Bolshoye Kapylyushi Lake and Baunt Lake, which belong to the Tsypo-Tsypikan lake system (the Lena River basin, Transbaikalia); and Teletsky whitefish (C. lavaretus natio smitti) from Teletskoe Lake (the Ob River basin). Previously, S. lavaretus had been described as a parasite of Baikal omul (C. migratorius) and Baikal whitefish (C. baicalensis) from Baikal. The taxons of S. longimanus complex (S. longimanus, S. l. sibirica, S. svetlanovi, and S. lavaretus)—parasites of nasal fossae of grayling and coregonid fishes—were registered in the lakes of the Lake Baikal basin (Lake Baikal and Khovsgol Lake), the Lena River, the Yenisei and the Ob rivers (the largest rivers of the Arctic zoogeographic province), and the Kobdo River (the Western Mongolian province). It was assumed that S. longimanus complex is more widely distributed in the water bodies of the Arctic zoogeographic province of the Palearctic.  相似文献

The relationship between the pine bark beetle Ips sexdentatus and its phoretic mites in a Pinus pinaster forest in northwest Spain was studied during 2014. Four species of mites were collected, three of them from the body of the beetle—Histiostoma ovalis, Dendrolaelaps quadrisetus and Trichouropoda polytricha—the fourth, Cercoleipus coelonotus, was collected from the sediments. The main aims of this study were to explore (1) mite diversity and related parameters, (2) the location on the body of the (male and female) beetle, as well as mite assemblages, and (3) the seasonal dynamic association between mite species and the beetle. Results indicated that the diversity oscillated around 0.71 through the study period and the most dominant, frequent and abundant mite was H. ovalis. Histiostoma ovalis was found attached to almost all parts of the body (mainly on the elytral declivity and ventral thorax), whereas D. quadrisetus was exclusively found under the elytra, and T. polytricha displayed affinity towards the elytral declivity as well as the ventral thorax. None of the mite species displayed any preference for the sex of the beetle and the most frequent mite assemblage was H. ovalis, T. polytricha and D. quadrisetus all together. Maximum abundance of each phoretic mite species was related with each of the flight peaks of the beetle that would indicate that these mite species use phoresy as a primary method of transport for colonizing new food sources.  相似文献

The results of analysis of the variability of body shape of different Daphnia galeata morphs from geographically distinct populations—Lake Glubokoe (Moscow oblast) and Lake Chany (Novosibirsk oblast) are given. The morphological analysis was combined with the analysis of the variability of fragments of the 16S and 12S genes of the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and the internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) of the nuclear DNA. A reconstruction of the phylogenetic relationships between species of the genus Daphnia has been performed using a combined fragment of the 16S and 12S genes of the mtDNA. An inconsistency in the distribution of the 12S- and ITS2-haplotypes for the species D. galeata has been revealed, which indicates the introgression of mtDNA in the Lake Chany population.  相似文献

All of the 166 Clarias gariepinus catfishes in Lake Tana, Ethiopia, were examined for trematode infestation in 2006—2009. Seven trematode species—Eumasenia bangweulensis, Astiotrema reniferum, Orientocreadium batrachoides, Paralecithodendrium chilostomum, Phyllodistomum bavuri, P. tana, and Cladorchiidae gen. sp.—as adult were found. The common catfish parasites were Eumasenia bangweulensis (20% prevalence and 1—62 intensity of invasion), Orientocreadium batrachoides (30% prevalence and 1–31 intensity of invasion), Phyllodistomum bavuri (24.8% prevalence and 1–8 intensity of invasion), Ph. tana (17.6% prevalence and 1–23 intensity of invasion), and Ph. bavuri. Astiotrema reniferum (three specimens were only found) was a rare species; Paralecithodendrium chilostomum was an accidental parasite of catfish. All these trematodes were first recorded in Ethiopia and Eastern Africa.  相似文献

We provide a first investigation of fish species composition, sex ratios, age, length-weight relationships and growth models in Saghamo Lake located in Javakheti highland (Georgia). In total 713 specimens belonging to 8 species were collected included non-native Coregonus albula, Carassius gibelio and native Alburnoides bipunctatus, Squalius cephalus, Capoeta capoeta, Romanogobio persus, Salmo cf. caspius and Barbus lacerta, among which later two were recorded for the first time in the lake. In overall, relative abundances of all species is low while some species may not be presented with viable populations. Deviation from expected sex ratio, growth at age and age structure indicates severe anthropogenic pressure as a potential driver of fish community degradation in the lake.  相似文献

The occurrence of preimaginal stages of Diptera (excluding Chironomidae and Simuliidae) in the Tatra Mountain lakes, their inlets and outlets, and the influence of acidification on the presence of these taxa were assessed. At 21 sites, 18 Diptera taxa were recorded in 2000 and 2001. The most frequent were Dicranota sp. (73%), Pedicia (C.)rivosa (50%) and Wiedemannia sp. (14%). Diptera were ordinated by RDA; relationships between taxa and environmental variables were significantly determined by temperature and habitat characteristics (altitude, habitat, alkalinity, Ca2+, pH, temperature, conductivity). The RDA diagram confirmed the existence of four Diptera assemblage groups corresponding with four habitat types. Group 1 — alpine and subalpine oligotrophic lakes at higher altitudes threatened by acidification, with the acid tolerant taxa Tipula rufina, T. alpium, Dicranota sp. and Rhypholophus sp. Group 2 — subalpine oligotrophic lakes not threatened by acidification with the acid sensitive taxa Wiedemannia sp., Hemerodromia sp., Tipula (S.) benesignata, Orimarga sp., Chionea sp., Pedicia (C.) rivosa and Bazarella subneglecta which prefer higher temperature. Group 3 — subalpine oligotrophic lakes, with the acid sensitive species Berdeniella illiesi, which prefers cold water. Group 4 — outlets of submontane oligotrophic lakes with characteristic taxa Tricyphona sp. and Tipula goriziensis. Acidified alpine and subalpine Tatra lakes are situated mostly at higher altitudes (1705–2145 m. a.s.l.) and have specific taxonomic composition.  相似文献

Following water quality and minimum flow improvements to the impounded Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers, juvenile lake sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens) have been restocked annually since 2000. Our goal was to seasonally assess foraging mode of this recovering population in Ft. Loudoun Reservoir in the Upper Tennessee River. During 2014–15, individuals were captured using trot-lines in a 13-km reach that supports the greatest density of lake sturgeon. We used colonic flushing and gastric lavage techniques to obtain diet. We took systematic benthic sediment grabs along multiple transects throughout the reach and opportunistically deployed rock cages filled with hard substrates to assess potential prey that colonize hard surfaces. Foraging modes of lake sturgeon were determined by comparing relative abundances of invertebrate taxa in the gut contents (6581 invertebrates) of 28 fish to the relative abundances of the same invertebrate taxa collected from the resource base (1667 invertebrates). Proportional similarity, Levin’s niche breadth, and Manly’s index were used to assess the degree of prey selectivity. Lake sturgeon fed selectively on a narrow range of available prey consisting mostly of larval chironomids (93% composition by number during warm season, 96% during cool season), some genera of which they prey upon selectively, primarily Chironomus sp., but to a lesser extent Procladius, Ablabesmyia, Coelotanypus, and Cryptochironomus spp. Meanwhile, other abundant taxa in the resource base were avoided, such as Oligochaetes, Hexagenia mayflies, and the chironomid Glyptotendipes. Our results illustrate that assessing seasonally available prey from habitat utilized by lake sturgeon is important when investigating diet preference.  相似文献

Phytoplankton successions under ice cover (January–March) were determined in four oligotrophic lakes (Burtjärn, Aspen, Vialamptjärn and Storkorstjärn) located in North-Eastern Sweden. The total phosphorus concentration in the lakes was less than 10 µg/L. Lake Burtjärn (reference lake) had a similar hydrology as Lake Aspen. Storkorstjärn and Vialamptjärn were of similar hydrology and had heavily colored water (>100 mgPt/L). Aspen as well as Vialamptjärn became continuously limed with calcium carbonate annually during the last decades. Biodiversity was considerably higher in the limed lakes (Aspen and Vialamptjärn) than in the untreated lakes (Burtjärn and Storkorstjärn). In Lake Burtjärn the most frequent species wereRhodomonas lacustris, Tabellaria flocculosa andBotryococcus braunii. Cryptophyceae (R. lacustris andCryptomonas marssonii) andDinophyceae (especiallyGymnodinium lantzschii) were common phytoplankton groups in Lake Aspen.Tabellaria flocculosa was also the most common organism in both humic lakes Storkorstjärn and Vialamptjärn, other phytoplankton groups were in the humic lakes scarce. Liming was found to have profound effects on phytoplankton communities studied.  相似文献

Lake Tanganyika, the second-oldest and second-deepest lake in the world, harbors an impressive cichlid fish fauna counting about 250 endemic species that are characterized by a great level of ecological, morphological, and behavioral specialization. This study describes and compares cichlid fish communities at two rocky shores with differential human impact in the south of Lake Tanganyika. Species inventories and depth-dependent abundances were elaborated. About 41 and 46 sympatric cichlid species were recorded in the two study sites, respectively. Variabilichromis moorii was the most abundant species (29–60% of total number of fishes), followed by Aulonocranus dewindti (3–19%), Tropheus moorii (12%), Ophthalmotilapia ventralis (4–10%), Eretmodus cyanostictus (6–11%), and Cyathopharynx furcifer (0.01–9%). All other species had abundances below 5%. It further emerged that large cichlids such as Petrochromis species, Cyathopharynx furcifer, and Lobochilotes labiatus were very rare at one location, with frequencies of 0.55% or less. Territorial sizes of three particularly abundant species, Variabilichromis moorii, Aulonocranus dewindti, and Tropheus moorii, were assessed by behavioral observations. We distinguished between territorial core areas and total defended area, yielding average core areas between 0.4 (V. moorii) and 1.6 m2 (T. moorii), and total defended areas averaging for each species between 1.6 (V. moorii) and 5.0 m2 (A. dewindti) with no significant differences between the two study sites. The data on individual densities are also relevant for evolutionary studies, in that they allow more accurate calculations of effective population sizes.  相似文献

Ancient sister lakes are considered to be ancient lakes lying in close geographic proximity, sharing a related origin and significant time of co-existence, usually having hydrological connection as well as a balanced degree of faunal overlap and distinctness. A paradigm for studying sister lake relationships are the ancient lakes Ohrid and Prespa in the Balkans, which are characterized by high degrees of endemicity. Three general patterns of endemic species can be distinguished for these lakes: (1) taxa that are endemic to either lake, with no close relatives in the respective sister lake, (2) closely related but distinct endemic taxa in both lakes (sister species) and (3) shared endemic taxa occurring in both lakes. In the present paper, two endemic freshwater pulmonate gastropod species, Radix relicta (Lake Ohrid) and R. pinteri (Lake Prespa), are used to study the evolution of presumed sister species based on biogeographical and comparative DNA data from world-wide Radix taxa. Phylogenetic, phylogeographical and parametric bootstrap analyses all suggest a sister group relationship of R. relicta and R. pinteri (pattern 2 of endemic diversity). Sister to these two taxa is the widespread R. ampla, which does not occur in the vicinity of lakes Ohrid and Prespa. The southern feeder spring complexes of Lake Ohrid are inhabited by another lineage (Radix sp. 1), which resembles Radix relicta in morphology/anatomy. For Lake Prespa, the widespread R. auricularia was reported in addition to the endemic R. pinteri. Comparative phylogenetic data favour a western Adriatic zoogeographical affinity of lakes Ohrid and Prespa over an Aegean-Anatolian faunal connection. The status of lakes Ohrid and Prespa as sister lakes is evaluated in the light of current knowledge on gastropod speciation and endemism in these hotspots of biodiversity.  相似文献

Investigation during the period of 3 years from 2007 to 2010 on the malacofauna of Chilika lake revealed the occurrence of 126 molluscan taxa belonging to 56 families, 18 orders of three classes in the bottom sediment. Of these 61 species belonged to Bivalvia, 64 species belonged to Gastropoda and one species belonged to Polyplacophora. Maximum Bivalvia and Gastropoda taxa were found in the outer channel region of the lake. The dominating species were Crassostrea cuttackensis, Saccostrea cucullata, Brachidontes undulatus, Meretrix meretrix among bivalves and Cerethideopsilla cingulata, Bullia vittata, Nassarious stolatus, Indothias lacera, Natica tigrina, Turritella attenuata were from the gastropods. Occurrence of a large number of marine taxa is most probably associated with the opening of new lagoon during 1st August 2008.  相似文献
