Two iridoid glucosides namely; 6-acetylantirrinoside (1), 6'-O-p-hydroxybenzoylantirrinoside (2) were isolated from the aerial parts of Kickxia abhaica. Beside that, three known iridoid glucosides, antirrinoside (3), antirride (4) and mussaenosidic acid (5), one flavone glycoside (6) and a hexitol, d-mannitol (7) were isolated. The structures of the iridoid glucosides 1-2 were established by 1D and 2D NMR spectral data, including COSY, HMQC and HMBC experiments, as well as HRMS.  相似文献

Two new phenylpropanoid glycosides (2'-O-acetylplantamajoside and 2'-O, 6"-O-diacetylplantamajoside), a new iridoid glycoside (10-O-(cinnamoyl)-6'-O-(desacetylalpinosidyl)-catalpol), the two known iridoid glycosides globularin and isoscrophularioside, and the known phenylpropanoid glycoside platamajoside were isolated from the methanolic extract of the underground parts of Wulfenia carinthiaca. Three new (1-3) and four known iridoid glucosides (4-7) as well as a known phenylethanoid glycoside (8) were isolated from the aerial parts of Veronica anagallis-aquatica and their structures were determined as 6'-O-benzoyl-8-epiloganic acid named aquaticoside A (1), 6'-O-p-hydroxybenzoyl-8-epiloganic acid named aquaticoside B (2), 6'-O-benzoyl-gardoside named aquaticoside C (3), veronicoside (4), catalposide (5), verproside (6), verminoside (7) and martynoside (8) on the basis of 1D and 2D NMR spectral analysis.  相似文献

The present phytochemical investigation on Damnacanthus officinarum Huang led to the isolation of a new anthraquinone glycoside named digiferruginol-11-O-β-gentiobioside, along with six known compounds, including anthraquinone glycosides, iridoid glycoside and etc. In the study, compounds (2–7) were isolated for the first time from D. officinarum Huang and Damnacanthus genus. The found of compounds (1–4, 6 and 7) indicate a close relationship between D. officinarum Huang and Morinda officinalis, which may be as chemotaxonomic markers for the tribe Morindeae  相似文献

A new secoiridoid glycoside, isopatrinioside (1) and a new sesquiterpenoid glycoside, valeriananoid F (2), together with nine known compounds, were isolated from the roots of Valeriana jatamansi. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis. Compound 1 was an unusual monocyclic iridoid glycoside ring-opened between C-1 and C-2 produced by the cleavage of the pyran ring. Of the eleven isolates, compounds 1 and 4 exhibited moderate neuroprotective effects against CoCl2-induced neuronal cell death in PC12 cells.  相似文献

Besides the expected iridoid glucosides aucubin and catalpol as well as three known esters of the latter, Veronica beccabunga (brooklime) was shown to contain five carboxylated iridoid glucosides, namely gardoside, mussaenosidic acid, 8-epiloganic acid, arborescosidic acid and alpinoside. In addition to these compounds, the plant contained salidroside and a previously unknown caffeoyl phenylethanoid glycoside (CPG) which we have named chionoside J. The structure was elucidated mainly by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy to be 2″-(β-glucopyranosyl)-plantamajoside. The distribution of plantamajoside and its derivatives as well as that of carbocyclic iridoids with an 8,9-double bond is briefly discussed, and it is noted that such compounds are mainly confined to the tribe Veroniceae of the Plantaginaceae.  相似文献

To assess the combined effect of herbivory, nutrient availability and plant phenology on plant mass and defensive chemistry, we conducted a field experiment with plantain ( Plantago lanceolata : Plantaginaceae) using three levels of herbivory, three levels of fertilizer and two harvest dates. Shoot mass of the no-herbivory plants showed a nonlinear response to increased fertilizer such that mass with high fertilizer was no greater than that with low fertilizer. In contrast, shoot mass of the low-herbivory plants (12% damage) was not influenced by fertilizer, but for high-herbivory plants (23% damage), there was a positive linear response to increased fertilizer. Increasing nutrient levels caused a decrease in iridoid glycoside concentration. Herbivory did not induce higher iridoid glycoside concentration in leaves of any age. But increasing herbivory resulted in a decrease in the concentration of catalpol in new leaves. Another experiment assessed how leaf age and plant age affected plant defensive chemistry. Total iridoid glycosides increased over 5 weeks, but catalpol only increased in new leaves. Overall, the order of importance in determining variation in iridoid glycoside concentration was plant phenology, nutrient availability and, to a much lesser extent, herbivory.  相似文献

Abstract.
  • 1 The simultaneous effects of daytime temperature (20°C versus 30°C) and leaf age (new versus intermediate-aged) on a generalist insect herbivore were examined. Fourth-instar Spilosoma congrua caterpillars were tested on plantain (Plantago lanceolata), one of this lepidopteran species’host plants, for which the major defensive chemicals, iridoid glycosides (aucubin and catalpol), could be quantified.
  • 2 Cool temperature depressed amount of food eaten, amount of frass, and consumption and growth rates, and increased the proportion of time spent in the non-feeding period (from head-capsule slippage to ecdysis).
  • 3 Average iridoid glycoside concentration was 2.8% dry weight (d.w.) in new leaves and 1.6% d.w. in intermediate-aged leaves. When fed new leaves, the caterpillars had a higher efficiency of conversion of ingested food to biomass and a higher growth rate than those fed intermediate-aged leaves. Furthermore, the proportion of time spent in the non-feeding period was prolonged by a diet of intermediate-aged leaves.
  • 4 A second experiment showed that the percentage dry weight of aucubin, catalpol and total iridoid glycosides increased over 24 h in incubated, excised leaves, which meant that the caterpillars in the first experiment experienced somewhat higher iridoid glycoside concentrations than the levels in fresh leaves.
  • 5 Overall, these results indicate that this generalist should prefer new plantain leaves over older leaves even though new leaves contain higher concentrations of iridoid glycosides.

Three undescribed glycoside constituents, macrophyllosides E-G and a pair of iridoid glycosides genticrasides A/B, together with eleven known glycoside compounds were isolated from the roots of Gentiana crassicaulis Duthie ex Burk. Their structures were identified by means of spectra analysis and data comparison with previous literatures. Interestingly, the glucose moieties in macrophylloside E and F possess free anomeric hydroxy groups. Genticrasides A/B, identified as a pair of iridoid originated lactones, have not been reported from Gentianaceae family up to now. The anti-inflammatory effects of selected compounds were also evaluated through the nitric oxide (NO) production inhibition in lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-induced RAW264.7 macrophage cells. In which, macrophyllosides G and D showed NO inhibitory activities with rates of 76.14±4.02 % and 52.44±8.29 % at 100 μg/mL.  相似文献

1. To examine the effects of predators and plant genotype on the behaviour, patterns of herbivory, growth, and survivorship of caterpillars, an experiment was conducted under semi‐natural conditions, with two host plant genotypes (low vs. high iridoid glycosides) of plantain Plantago lanceolata, two kinds of herbivores (noncryptic specialist Junonia coenia vs. cryptic generalist Pyrrharctia isabella), and two levels of caterpillar predation (with and without Podisus maculiventris stinkbugs). 2. Choice tests conducted in the laboratory showed that in three out of four cases, caterpillars preferred leaves from the low iridoid glycoside genotype. 3. In the field experiment, the presence of predators affected the amount of leaf material eaten per plot and the proportion of leaf material eaten by the caterpillars as expected, but it did not affect the use of plant genotypes by Junonia caterpillars within the plots. In contrast, the caterpillar density–predation treatments affected the proportion of leaves eaten by Pyrrharctia caterpillars that were of the low iridoid glycoside genotype, but not entirely as expected. The caterpillars used both genotypes equally when predators were present but the high iridoid glycoside genotype was used more by caterpillars at low density and without predators. 4. The message then is that on the scale that caterpillars could be choosy about intake of iridoid glycosides they were not choosy among plant genotypes; however they were choosy between leaves, which can differ in iridoid glycoside concentration via plant genotype and leaf age.  相似文献

From cytotoxic extracts of the roots of Scrophularia ningpoensis Hemsl. (Scrophulariaceae) a new sugar ester, ningposide D (3-O-acetyl-2-O-p-methoxycinnamoyl-alpha(beta)-L-rhamnopyranose) (1) and a new iridoid glycoside, scrophuloside B4 (6-O-(2'-O-acetyl-3'-O-cinnamoyl-4'-O-p-methoxycinnamoyl-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl) catalpol) (2) along with known compounds: oleanonic acid (3), ursolonic acid (4), cinnamic acid (5), 3-hydroxy-4-methoxy benzoic acid (6), 5-(hydroxymethyl)-2-furfural (7) and beta-sitosterol (8) were isolated. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by spectral data (1, 2D NMR, EI, HRESI-MS and MS/MS). Oleanonic acid (3) and ursolonic acid (4) were found to be cytotoxic against a series of human cancer cell lines with IC50=4.6, 15.5 microM on MCF7; 4.2, 14.5 microM on K562; 14.8, 44.4 microM on Bowes; 24.9, 43.6 microM on T24S; 61.3, 151.5 microM on A549, respectively. Beta-sitosterol (8) inhibited Bowes cells growth at IC50=36.5 microM. Scrophuloside B4 (2) showed activity on K562 and Bowes cells at IC50=44.6, 90.2 microM, respectively.  相似文献

Iridoid glycosides are secondary plant compounds that have deterrent, growth reducing or even toxic effects on non-adapted herbivorous insects. To investigate the effects of iridoid glycoside containing plants on the digestive metabolism of a generalist herbivore, larvae of Spilosoma virginica (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae) were reared on three plant species that differ in their secondary plant chemistry: Taraxacum officinale (no iridoid glycosides), Plantago major (low iridoid glycoside content), and P. lanceolata (high iridoid glycoside content). Midguts of fifth instar larvae were assayed for the activity and kinetic properties of β-glucosidase using different substrates. Compared to the larvae on T. officinale, the β-glucosidase activity of larvae feeding on P. lanceolata was significantly lower measured with 4-nitrophenyl-β-d-glucopyranoside. Using the iridoid glycoside aucubin as a substrate, we did not find differences in the β-glucosidase activity of the larvae reared on the three plants. Heat inactivation experiments revealed the existence of a heat-labile and a more heat-stable β-glucosidase with similar Michaelis constants for 4-nitrophenyl-β-d-glucopyranoside. We discuss possible mechanisms leading to the observed decrease of β-glucosidase activity for larvae reared on P. lanceolata and its relevance for generalist herbivores in adapting to iridoid glycoside containing plant species and their use as potential host plants.  相似文献

Sixteen crude extracts from six Panamanian plants of the family Bignoniaceae were submitted to rapid TLC tests against DPPH and acetylcholinesterase. Pithecoctenium crucigerum (L.) A.H. Gentry, which showed interesting activity against DPPH, has been studied. The chemical investigation of the methanol extract from the stems afforded the iridoid glycoside theviridoside and three derivatives (6'-O-cyclopropanoyltheviridoside, 10-O-hydroxybenzoyltheviridoside and 10-O-vanilloyltheviridoside), along with five known phenylethanoid glycosides (verbascoside, isoverbascoside, forsythoside B, jionoside D and leucosceptoside B). These last compounds were all active against DPPH. The structures were determined by means of spectrometric and chemical methods, including 1D and 2D NMR experiments and MS analysis.  相似文献

Three new iridoid glycosides, named involucratosides A – C ( 1  –  3 ), were isolated from the H2O subextract of crude MeOH extract prepared from the aerial parts of Asperula involucrata along with a known iridoid glycoside (adoxoside), three flavone glycosides (apigenin 7‐Oβ‐glucopyranoside, luteolin 7‐Oβ‐glucopyranoside, apigenin 7‐O‐rutinoside) as well as two phenolic acid derivatives (chlorogenic acid and ferulic acid 4‐Oβ‐glucopyranoside). Their chemical structures were established by UV, IR, 1D‐ (1H, 13C and JMOD) and 2D‐ (COSY, HSQC, HMBC and NOESY) NMR experiments and HR‐ESI‐MS. In addition, the crude extract, subextracts and isolates were evaluated for their xanthine oxidase inhibitory and antioxidant activities in in vitro tests. A novel iridoid glycoside trimer named forsydoitriside A (1) and five new iridoid glycosides (2–6) were isolated from the fruits of Forsythia suspensa together with two known compounds (7, 8). These new structures were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic data and the comparison of experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism spectra. Compounds 18 were all assayed on acetaminophen-induced HepG2 cell damage. The results exhibited that compounds 2, 3, 5 and 6 possessed strong hepatoprotective activities against the damage in HepG2 cell.  相似文献

Arbutin and four novel iridoid glycoside esters, named opulus iridoids I–IV, have been isolated from foliage of Viburnum opulus (Caprifoliaceae). Each opulus iridoid constitutes an inseparable mixture of two compounds, differing by containing either 2-methyl- or 3-methylbutyric acid in ester linkage at the 1-OH-group in an iridoid glycoside. In all glycosides 2′,3′-di-O-acetyl-β-D-allopyranose is linked through a glycosidic bond to C-11 in the iridoid aglycone. The opulus iridoids differ by the degree of acetylation of the aglycone and by the attachment, in III and IV, of a β-D-xylopyranosyl group at C-4 of the allose moiety. The structures have been elucidated by 1H and 13C-NMR spectroscopy and by cleavage of the glycosidic linkage with boron trifluoride etherate in acetic anhydride, yielding the acetates of the cyclized aglycone and of the appropriate mono- or disaccharide. This is the second report of an iridoid attached to a sugar other than glucose and the second time allose has been encountered in higher plants. The systematic position of Viburnum is briefly discussed.  相似文献
