The variability in the composition of the volatile compounds of Origanum microphyllum, a species endemic to Crete, was examined. Headspace analysis was carried out on leaves from five natural populations and subsequently from the same plants from uniform cultivation. Plants were rich in cis-sabinene-hydrate (3–68%), sabinene (3–45%) and trans-sabinene-hydrate (0.5–34%). Four chemical profiles were distinguished, the extremes being either rich in sabinene and trans-sabinene-hydrate, or rich in cis-sabinene-hydrate. Furthermore, different chemical profiles were present in all populations to varying proportions, which explains the high variation observed within each population and the apparent small variation between them. The pattern of distribution of the different profiles among populations suggested a possible closer relation between neighbouring populations. There is a strong evidence of genetic control in the composition of the volatiles of O. microphyllum since it remained nearly unchanged in cultivation when the same plants were examined a year later.  相似文献

A new Centaurea L. (Asteraceae) species from Turkey is described and illustrated. Centaurea mersinensis Uysal and Hamzao?lu exists on calcareous slopes in Pinus brutia forests of Ayd?nc?k (Mersin) in southern Anatolia. It belongs to C. sect. Phalolepis (Cass.) DC., and taxonomically its closest relative is C. lycaonica. Diagnostic morphological characters from very similar taxa are provided, and a key is provided that includes related species of sect. Phalolepis from Turkey. The geographical distribution of the new species and relatives of the same section are mapped. The chromosome number of C. mersinensis, 2n = 18, counted in root tips, is also reported and illustrated.  相似文献

Twenty-four polyacetylenes isolated from species in the Asteraceae were screened for their near-UV-mediated larvicidal properties to the mosquito, Aedes aegypti. Dosage resonse lines for three of the most active compounds were prepared. One of these, σ-terthienyl from Tagetes was more toxic than DDT when near-UV radiation was provided. A scaled up trial with this compound in a simulated field situation demonstrated its potential as a larvicide. The effects of the radiation dose on larval survival were studied and the action spectra for the phototoxic effects of three compounds on larvae were obtained with narrowband interference filters. Because of the close agreement between the action and absorption spectra, it appears most probable that the polyacetylene is the primary absorbing compound. The potential of polyacetylenes as larvicides and their role in plant herbivore relations are discussed.  相似文献

A new species, Acantholimon avanosicum Dogan & Akaydin in the Plumbaginaceae is described and illustrated. The species grows on argillaceous slopes in Central Anatolia, Turkey. The diagnostic morphological characters that distinguish it from closely related taxa are discussed. A revised key to Acantholimon species in Turkey with densely distichous simple spikes is presented. © 2002 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2002, 138 , 365–368.  相似文献

A new species, Bilacunaria anatolica A. Duran (Apiaceae) is described and illustrated from southwest Turkey. The species grows on eroded marly stony slopes and in openings of Pinus brutia forest in Fethiye district (C2 Mu?la province). Bilacunaria anatolica, an endemic confined to southwest Anatolia, is related to B. microcarpa and B. scabra. It is also similar to the Mediterranean species Cachrys crassiloba and C. cristata in terms of habit, but differs in fruit characteristics. Diagnostic morphological and carpo‐anatomical characters are discussed. Notes are also presented on ecology and conservation status. In addition, pollen characteristics and mericarp surface features are examined by SEM. The geographical distribution of the new species and related species is mapped.  相似文献

The new species Stachys ketenoglui Kaynak, Daşkın & Yılmaz (Lamiaceae) is described and illustrated from south Anatolia, Turkey. It is closely related to S. cataonica and S. pumila, but differs from them by its longer petiolated basal leaves, longer calyx, pale pink and longer corollas. Notes are also provided on its ecology, geographical distribution and conservation status. In addition, SEM photos of pollen grains for S. ketenoglui , S. cataonica and S. pumila are provided.  相似文献

Nigella turcica a new species endemic to north-eastern Turkey is described and illustrated. Morphological differences between the species and the closely related species, N. sativa , are discussed and the IUCN threatened category is proposed. A distribution map of the new species and its related taxon is given.  © 2004 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2004, 146 , 251–255.  相似文献

A new species of Viola , V. kizildaghensis M. Dinç & S¸. Ẏlḋṙml̇, from Turkey is described and illustrated. It is found on the rocky slopes of K̇żldǎ, K̇żldǎ National Park, in the vilayet of Isparta, south-west Turkey, at an elevation of 1350–1600 m. It belongs to Viola , subsection Viola , and is similar to the Lebanese endemic V. libanotica Boiss., distinguished by its lanceolate, cuneate based leaves, pinkish-purple flowers with white throats, glabrous lateral petals, and peduncles bearing the mature fruit procumbent and pubescent. It is somewhat similar to another species from south-west Turkey, V. sandrasea Melchior, that is endemic to Sandras Dǎ in the vilayet Mǔla; it is distinguished from this by the characters listed above, its pubescent leaves and peduncles, and its linear-lanceolate to lanceolate stipules which have short, gland-tipped fimbriae. © 2002 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2002, 138 , 483–487.  相似文献

Salvia paryskii, a yellow-flowered member of sectionEkmania, is described and illustrated from the narrow ridge connecting Pic Formon and Pic Macaya in the Massif de la Hotte of Haiti. The new species is compared to its closest relative,S. tuerckheimii, and differs primarily in its obovate leaves and denser inflorescences. Included is a brief discussion of the vegetation of this remote area of Parc National Pic Macaya.  相似文献

A comparative study was undertaken on the leaves of six Acinos taxa in order to assess anatomical variations which may be a useful feature to identify each one and to evaluate their significance for the taxonomy of the genus. All species have glandular and non-glandular trichomes, diacytic stomata, and dorsiventral leaves.
The results of this survey show that trichomes not only are different in cell numbers within the species but also in density. When transverse sections are compared, some differences in their midrib shapes, the protruding midrib, the number of palisade and spongy layers and upper anticlinal epidermal wall may provide interesting starting points for the characterisation of the species.  相似文献

Halocnemum yurdakulolii Yaprak is described as the second species of the previously monotypic genus Halocnemum. The species is endemic to the Göksu Delta in southern Turkey. The main morphological characteristics that separate H. yurdakulolii from H. strobilaceum (Pall.) M.Bieb. are growth form and spike morphology. Apart from these morphological differences, the species show a clear genetic differentiation. © 2008 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2008, 158 , 716–721.  相似文献
