Tolerance to water deficit in diploid (2x) and doubled diploid (4x) ‘Carrizo citrange’ (Citrus sinensis [L.] Osbeck × Poncirus trifoliata [L.] Raf) was investigated. Water deficit was applied for 4 weeks. Physiological parameters, including stomatal conductance (g s), photosynthesis (A), transpiration (E), leaf and soil water potentials (Ψ leaf; Ψ soil), and pot water loss, were monitored throughout the stress. Moreover, ABA, H2O2 contents, and the expression of genes involved in ABA biosynthesis (NCED3), regulation of abscisic acid signaling (ABI1), and coding for a catalase enzyme (CAT2) known to favor H2O2 scavenging were monitored. During the experiment g s, A, and E values were most of the time higher in 2x compared to 4x. During the water deficit period, pot water loss decreased faster in 2x compared to 4x, leading to a faster decrease in all physiological parameters in 2x. The higher sensitivity of 2x compared to 4x was correlated with more numerous thinner roots, higher leaf ABA and H2O2 contents, and with the lower leaf water potential. ABI1 and NCED3 expression was not strictly correlated with the ABA content. However, the higher CAT2 expression in 4x was correlated with the lower leaf H2O2 contents. Therefore, the better tolerance observed in 4x ‘Carrizo citrange’ compared to 2x was associated with more limited water consumption and better and H2O2 scavenging.  相似文献

The amount of biomass production per unit of food consumed (P/Q) represents an important quantity in ecosystem functioning, because it indicates how efficient a population transforms ingested food into biomass. Several investigations have noticed that P/Q remains relatively constant (or invariant) across fish population that feed at the same food-type level (carnivorous/herbivorous). Nevertheless, theoretical explanation for this invariant is still lacking. In this paper, we demonstrate that P/Q remains invariant across fish populations with stable-age distribution. Three key assumptions underpin the P/Q invariant: (1) the ratio between natural mortality M and von Bertalanffy growth parameter k (M/k ratio) should remain invariant across fish populations; (2) a parameter defining the fraction of ingested food available for growth needs to remain constant across fish that feed at the same trophic level; (3) third, the ratio between length at age 0 (\(l_0\)) and asymptotic length (\(l_\infty\)) should be constant across fish populations. The influence of these assumptions on the P/Q estimates were numerically assessed considering fish populations of different lifespan. Numerical evaluations show that the most critical condition highly relates to the first assumption, M/k. Results are discussed in the context of the reliability of the required assumption to consider the P/Q invariant in stable-age distributed fish populations.  相似文献

Background

Grape phylloxera (Daktulosphaira vitifoliae Fitch) is a major insect pest that negatively impacts commercial grapevine performance worldwide. Consequently, the use of phylloxera resistant rootstocks is an essential component of vineyard management. However, the majority of commercially available rootstocks used in viticulture production provide limited levels of grape phylloxera resistance, in part due to the adaptation of phylloxera biotypes to different Vitis species. Therefore, there is pressing need to develop new rootstocks better adapted to specific grape growing regions with complete resistance to grape phylloxera biotypes.

Results

Grapevine rootstock breeding material, including an accession of Vitis cinerea and V. aestivalis, DRX55 ([M. rotundifolia x V. vinifera] x open pollinated) and MS27-31 (M. rotundifolia specific hybrid), provided complete resistance to grape phylloxera in potted plant assays. To map the genetic factor(s) of grape phylloxera resistance, a F1 V. cinerea x V. vinifera Riesling population was screened for resistance. Heritability analysis indicates that the V. cinerea accession contained a single allele referred as RESISTANCE TO DAKTULOSPHAIRA VITIFOLIAE 2 (RDV2) that confers grape phylloxera resistance. Using genetic maps constructed with pseudo-testcross markers for V. cinerea and Riesling, a single phylloxera resistance locus was identified in V. cinerea. After validating SNPs at the RDV2 locus, interval and linkage mapping showed that grape phylloxera resistance mapped to linkage group 14 at position 16.7 cM.

Conclusion

The mapping of RDV2 and the validation of markers linked to grape phylloxera resistance provides the basis to breed new rootstocks via marker-assisted selection that improve vineyard performance.

Bemisia tabaci Middle East-Asia Minor 1 (MEAM1) infestation adversely affected photosynthesis of host plants. In the current study, chlorophyll a fluorescence was measured to determine the effects of MEAM1 nymph infestation of tobacco local and systemic leaves on energy metabolism and electron transport of photosystemII(PSII). The results showed that the density of PSII reaction centres per excited cross section (CS) (RC/CS) of infested and systemic leaves was reduced at 14 and 20 days. In systemic leaves, the number of PSII closed reaction centres (1-qP) increased significantly at 14 and 20 days. Absorption flux per QA? reducing PSII reaction centre (RC) (ABS/RC), trapped energy flux per RC (TRo/RC), and electron transport per RC (ETo/RC) of infested and systemic leaves increased with MEAM1 nymph infestation. The most obvious increase in absorption flux per CS (ABS/CSo) and trapped energy flux per CS (TRo/CSo) of infested and systemic leaves occurred at 14 days. MEAM1 nymph infestation significantly reduced the energy required for PSII QA to be completely reduced (Sm) in tobacco leaves. These results suggested that MEAM1 nymph infestation caused changes in light-harvesting antenna system and deactivation of the reaction centre, resulting in the reduction of photons absorbed by reaction centres per unit area. MEAM1 nymph infestation, particularly the 3rd instar nymphs, decreased light utilization ability and increased excess excitation energy in tobacco leaves. With MEAM1 nymph infestation, the relative electron transport capacity of the entire electron transport chain decreased, and more light energy was used to reduce QA.  相似文献

The evolution rate v(t) varies among diverse biosystems, but a general theory can be formulated when the dynamics of the biosystem stater x = x(t) = (x1, x2, x m ) T is considered in the m-dimensional space of states. A mathematical approach is proposed for evaluating such processes and describes the processes in terms of particular chaos of the statistical distribution functions f(x). In the case of complex multicomponent systems with a high dimension number m (m ?1) of the phase space of states, we propose using pairwise comparison matrices of samples x(t) when homeostasis is constant and calculating the parameters of quasiattractors. The Glensdorff–Prigogine thermodynamic approach to estimating evolution is inefficient in assessing the third-type systems, while it is applicable and the Prigogine theorem works at the level of molecular systems. Alterations in the state of the human neuromuscular system were found to lead to chaotic changes in the statistical functions f(x) in tremor recording samples, while quasiattractor parameters demonstrate a certain regularity.  相似文献

Most commercially important rootstocks for peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] had been selected for resistance to one or more of the root-knot nematode (RKN) species: Meloidogyne incognita, M. arenaria, and M. javanica. The peach root-knot nematode, M. floridensis (MF), is a relatively newly discovered threat to peach and is not controlled by resistance genes in “Nemared,” “Nemaguard,” and “Okinawa.” The “Flordaguard” peach seedling rootstock, conventionally bred to provide resistance to MF, has solely been used for low-chill peach production in Florida for over 20 years and has already shown signs of resistance breakdown. A source of high resistance to the pathogenic MF isolate (“MFGnv14”) was identified from wild peach Prunus kansuensis Rehder (Kansu peach), thereby suggesting the potential for broadening spectrum and increasing durability of resistance in peach rootstocks through interspecific hybridization with P. kansuensis. Using 12 F2 and BC1F1 populations derived from crosses between Okinawa or Flordaguard peach and P. kansuensis populations, we examined the genetic control for MF resistance by identifying associated microsatellite markers and determining genomic location of the resistance locus. One microsatellite marker (UDP98-025) showed strong and consistent association with resistance based on root-galling index. The resistance locus was mapped on the subtelomeric region of linkage group 2, co-localizing with other previously reported RKN resistance genes in Prunus. Segregation of gall-index-based resistance observed in F2 and BC1F1 populations is compatible with the involvement of a multiallelic locus wherein a dominant (Mf1) or recessive (mf3) resistance allele is inherited from P. kansuensis, and susceptibility alleles (mf2) from peach.  相似文献

Two distinct classes of dust ion acoustic (DIA) solitary waves based on relativistic ions and electrons, dust charge Z d and ion-to-dust mass ratio Q’ = m i /m d are established in this model of multicomponent plasmas. At the increase of mass ratio Q’ due to increase of relativistic ion mass and accumulation of more negative dust charges into the plasma causing decrease of dust mass, relativistic DIA solitons of negative potentials are abundantly observed. Of course, relativistic compressive DIA solitons are also found to exist simultaneously. Further, the decrease of temperature inherent in the speed of light c causes the nonlinear term to be more active that increases the amplitude of the rarefactive solitons and dampens the growth of compressive solitons for relatively low and high mass ratio Q’, respectively. The impact of higher initial streaming of the massive ions is observed to identify the point of maximum dust density N d to yield rarefactive relativistic solitons of maximum amplitude.  相似文献

The study was carried out in a four-year-old super-high density olive grove in Central Italy to compare leaf gas exchanges of Spanish Arbequina and Italian Maurino olive cultivars. Overall, from mid July to mid November, Maurino had a slightly higher maximum light-saturated net photosynthetic rate (P Nmax) than Arbequina. The lowest and the highest P Nmax values were recorded at the end of July and in mid November, respectively. Current-season leaves showed similar or slightly higher P Nmax values than one-year-old leaves. During the day Maurino always had slightly higher values or values similar to Arbequina, with the highest P Nmax being in the morning. Maurino had similar or higher dark respiration rate (R D) values compared to Arbequina. During the day, in both cultivars the R D was lower at 9:00 than in the afternoon. The pattern of the photosynthetic irradiance-response curve was similar in the two genotypes, but the apparent quantum yield (Y Q) was higher in Maurino. In both cultivars intercellular CO2 concentration (C i) tended to increase when P Nmax decreased. The increase in C i corresponded to a decrease in stomatal conductance (g s). The transpiration rate (E) increased from mid July to the beginning of August, then decreased in September and increased again in November. Particularly in the morning, the current-season leaves showed similar or slightly higher E values than the one-year-old leaves. During the day, in both cultivars and at both leaf ages, E was higher in the afternoon. No effects on leaf gas exchanges due to the presence or absence of fruit on the shoot were found. Overall, there was satisfactory physiological adaptation for Arbequina to the conditions of Central Italy and for Maurino to the superintensive grove conditions.  相似文献

The source-sink relationship is one of major determinants of plant performance. The influence of reproductive sink demand on light-saturated photosynthesis (Pmax), dark respiration (RD), stomatal conductance (gs), intrinsic water-use efficiency (WUEi), contents of soluble sugar (SSC), nitrogen, carbon, and photosynthetic pigments was examined in blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L. cv. ‘Brigitta’) during the final stage of rapid fruit growth. Measurements were performed three times per day on developed, sun-exposed leaves of girdled shoots with 0.1, 1, and 10 fruit per leaf (0.1F:L, 1F:L, and 10F:L, respectively) and nongirdled shoots bearing one fruit per leaf (NG). Girdling and lower fruit amount induced lower Pmax, gs, N, and total chlorophyll (Chl) and higher WUEi, SSC, RD, Chl a/b ratio and carotenoids-to-chlorophylls ratio (Car/Chl) for the 1F:L and 0.1F:L treatments. The impact of girdling was counterbalanced by 10F:L, with NG and 10F:L having similar values. Variables other than Pmax, RD, gs, WUEi, and SSC were unaffected throughout the course of the day. Pmax and gs decreased during the course of the day, but gs decreased more than Pmax in the afternoon, while WUEi was increasing in almost all treatments. SSC increased from the morning until afternoon, whereas RD peaked at noon regardless of the treatment. Generally, Pmax was closely and negatively correlated to SSC, indicating that sugar-sensing mechanisms played an important role in regulation of blueberry leaf photosynthesis. With respect to treatments, Pmax and N content were positively related, while RD was not associated to substrate availability. The enhanced Car/Chl ratio showed a higher photoprotection under the lower sink demand. Changes in the source-sink relationship in ‘Brigitta’ blueberry led to a rearrangement of physiological and structural leaf traits which allowed adjusting the daily balance between carbon assimilation and absorbed light energy.  相似文献

A novel powdery mildew-resistance gene, designated Pm58, was introgressed directly from Aegilops tauschii to hexaploid wheat, mapped to chromosome 2DS, and confirmed to be effective under field conditions. Selectable KASP? markers were developed for MAS.

Abstract

Powdery mildew caused by Blumeria graminis (DC.) f. sp. tritici (Bgt) remains a significant threat to wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) production. The rapid breakdown of race-specific resistance to Bgt reinforces the need to identify novel sources of resistance. The d-genome species, Aegilops tauschii, is an excellent source of disease resistance that is transferrable to T. aestivum. The powdery mildew-resistant Ae. tauschii accession TA1662 (2n?=?2x?=?DD) was crossed directly with the susceptible hard white wheat line KS05HW14 (2n?=?6x?=?AABBDD) followed by backcrossing to develop a population of 96 BC2F4 introgression lines (ILs). Genotyping-by-sequencing was used to develop a genome-wide genetic map that was anchored to the Ae. tauschii reference genome. A detached-leaf Bgt assay was used to screen BC2F4:6 ILs, and resistance was found to segregate as a single locus (χ?=?2.0, P value?=?0.157). The resistance gene, referred to as Pm58, mapped to chromosome 2DS. Pm58 was evaluated under field conditions in replicated trials in 2015 and 2016. In both years, a single QTL spanning the Pm58 locus was identified that reduced powdery mildew severity and explained 21% of field variation (P value?<?0.01). KASP? assays were developed from closely linked GBS-SNP markers, a refined genetic map was developed, and four markers that cosegregate with Pm58 were identified. This novel source of powdery mildew-resistance and closely linked genetic markers will support efforts to develop wheat varieties with powdery mildew resistance.

The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the simultaneous action of light stress and salinity. Pulse amplitude modulated chlorophyll fluorescence, P700 redox state, and pigment analysis were used to assess the impact of high light intensity on Paulownia tomentosa × fortunei and Paulownia elongata × elongata grown on soils with different salinity. It was found that light stress reduced the amount of pigments and the efficiency of photochemical energy conversion, inhibited the maximum and the effective quantum yields of PSII photochemistry, decreased photochemical quenching and photosynthetic rate. Data also showed influence on the primary quinone acceptor (QA) reoxidation, which led to the restriction of the electron flow from QA to plastoquinone and stimulation of the cyclic electron flow. The possible reasons for the increased effects of the light stress under conditions of high salt concentration in soil for Paulownia tomentosa × fortunei are discussed.  相似文献

Grafting is commonly used to propagate commercial fruit species to ensure that the genetic characteristics of selected clones are maintained. However, the biochemical and molecular mechanisms involved in the graft incompatibility of woody trees are not well understood. We investigated the effect of grafting in vegetative growth, UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase expression and activity of Annonaceous grafted plants: atemoya (Annona cherimola Mill. x Annona squamosa L.) ‘Thompson’ grafted onto different rootstocks, araticum-de-terra-fria (Annona emarginata Schltdl. H. Rainer “var. terra-fria”), araticum-mirim (Annona emarginata Schltdl. H. Rainer “var. mirim”) and biribá (Annona mucosa Schltdl. H. Rainer) at different post-grafting times. The growth of atemoya grafted onto araticum-mirim was lower than that of the rootstocks araticum-de terra-fria and biribá. The results also indicated that grafting alters UGPase gene expression; showing the combination atemoya grafted onto araticum-de-terra-fria (a compatible union) the higher levels of gene expression during the early stages of grafting development. However, no significant differences were detected in UGPase enzyme activity between the graft combinations. In addition, SDS-PAGE and MALDI-TOF analyses detected similar UGPase amino acid sequences in ungrafted atemoya samples to cherimoya (Annona cherimola Mill.), a female parent of the atemoya hybrid. These findings suggest that expression of the UGPase protein is related to graft compatibility in grafted Annona plants.  相似文献

European pear exhibits RNase-based gametophytic self-incompatibility controlled by the polymorphic S-locus. S-allele diversity of cultivars has been extensively investigated; however, no mutant alleles conferring self-compatibility have been reported. In this study, two European pear cultivars, ‘Abugo’ and ‘Ceremeño’, were classified as self-compatible after fruit/seed setting and pollen tube growth examination. S-genotyping through S-PCR and sequencing identified a new S-RNase allele in the two cultivars, with identical deduced amino acid sequence as S 21 , but differing at the nucleotide level. Test-pollinations and analysis of descendants suggested that the new allele is a self-compatible pistil-mutated variant of S 21 , so it was named S 21 °. S-genotypes assigned to ‘Abugo’ and ‘Ceremeño’ were S 10 S 21 ° and S 21 °S 25 respectively, of which S 25 is a new functional S-allele of European pear. Reciprocal crosses between cultivars bearing S 21 and S 21 ° indicated that both alleles exhibit the same pollen function; however, cultivars bearing S 21 ° had impaired pistil-S function as they failed to reject either S 21 or S 21 ° pollen. RT-PCR analysis showed absence of S 21 °-RNase gene expression in styles of ‘Abugo’ and ‘Ceremeño’, suggesting a possible origin for S 21 ° pistil dysfunction. Two polymorphisms found within the S-RNase genomic region (a retrotransposon insertion within the intron of S 21 ° and indels at the 3′UTR) might explain the different pattern of expression between S 21 and S 21 °. Evaluation of cultivars with unknown S-genotype identified another cultivar ‘Azucar Verde’ bearing S 21 °, and pollen tube growth examination confirmed self-compatibility for this cultivar as well. This is the first report of a mutated S-allele conferring self-compatibility in European pear.  相似文献

The Tibetan swine (TIS) is a non-ruminant herbivore with high disease resistance. Also, it has the ability to digest plants with high fiber content. However, it is not known whether any relationship exist between these characteristics of the TIS and its cecal microbiota. Thus, this study aims to investigate the cecal microbiota of the adult TIS using high-throughput sequencing techniques in order to explore possible relationships between these unique characteristics of the TIS (high disease resistance and ability to digest high fiber plants) and its cecal microbiota. PIC pigs (lean type) were chosen as controls. The results show that 75,069 valid sequences of the 16S rRNA gene at V4-V5 region were obtained in the cecal content of TIS. They were composed of 15 phyla, 70 genera and divided into 660 Operational Taxonomic Units (OTUs). Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes were the predominant phyla in both breeds, but TIS had more Bacteroidetes than Firmicutes. Also, 42.4% of the cecal bacteria were found to be unclassified and uncultured. Many cellulolytic bacteria were also found in the two breeds. TIS (88.10%) had much higher abundance in the core bacterial communities than PIC pigs (81.29%), and the proportion of Bacteroides and Spirochaetes that can effectively degrade cellulose were 6.01 and 6.40% higher than PIC pigs, respectively, while Proteobacteria that are closely related to gastrointestinal diseases were 1.61% lower than PIC pigs. Thus, the disease resistance of the TIS and its ability to digest plants with high fiber content may be related to high abundance of core bacterial communities as well as the large number of unknown and unclassified bacteria.  相似文献

In this paper, the authors investigate the membrane transport of aqueous non-electrolyte solutions in a single-membrane system with the membrane mounted horizontally. The purpose of the research is to analyze the influence of volume flows on the process of forming concentration boundary layers (CBLs). A mathematical model is provided to calculate dependences of a concentration polarization coefficient (ζ s ) on a volume flux (J vm ), an osmotic force (Δπ) and a hydrostatic force (ΔP) of different values. Property ζ s ?=?f(J vm ) for J vm ?>?0 and for J vm ?≈?0 and property ζ s ?=?fC 1) are calculated. Moreover, results of a simultaneous influence of ΔP and Δπ on a value of coefficient ζ s when J vm ?=?0 and J vm ?≠?0 are investigated and a graphical representation of the dependences obtained in the research is provided. Also, mathematical relationships between the coefficient ζ s and a concentration Rayleigh number (R C ) were studied providing a relevant graphical representation. In an experimental test, aqueous solutions of glucose and ethanol were used.  相似文献

How global warming will affect soil respiration (R S) and its source components is poorly understood despite its importance for accurate prediction of global carbon (C) cycles. We examined the responses of R S, heterotrophic respiration (R H), autotrophic respiration (R A), nitrogen (N) availability, and fine-root biomass to increased temperature in an open-field soil warming experiment. The experiment was conducted in a cool-temperate deciduous forest ecosystem in northern Japan. As this forest is subjected to strong temporal variation in temperature, on scales ranging from daily to seasonal, we also investigated the temporal variation in the effects of soil warming on R S, R H, and R A. Soil temperature was continuously elevated by about 4.0°C from 2007 to 2014 using heating wires buried in the soil, and we measured soil respiratory processes in all four seasons from 2012 to 2014. Soil warming increased annual R S by 32–45%, but the magnitude of the increase was different between the components: R H and R A were also stimulated, and increased by 39–41 and 17–18%, respectively. Soil N availability during the growing season and fine-root biomass were not remarkably affected by the warming treatment. We found that the warming effects varied seasonally. R H increased significantly throughout the year, but the warming effect showed remarkable seasonal differences, with the maximum stimulation in the spring. This suggests that warmer spring temperature will produce a greater increase in CO2 release than warmer summer temperatures. In addition, we found that soil warming reduced the temperature sensitivity (Q 10) of R S. Although the Q 10 of both R H and R A tended to be reduced, the decrease in the Q 10 of R S was caused mainly by a decrease in the response of R A to warming. These long-term results indicate that a balance between the rapid and large response of soil microbes and the acclimation of plant roots both play important roles in determining the response of R S to soil warming, and must be carefully considered to predict the responses of soil C dynamics under future temperature conditions.  相似文献

Knowing how microevolutionary processes, such as genetic drift and natural selection, shape variation in adaptive traits is strategic for conservation measures. One way to estimate local adaptation is to compare divergences in quantitative traits (QST) and neutral loci (FST). Therefore, we have assessed the pattern of phenotypic and molecular genetic divergence among natural subpopulations of the fruit tree Eugenia dysenterica DC. A provenance and progeny test was performed to assess the quantitative traits of the subpopulations collected in a wide distribution area of the species in the Brazilian Cerrado. The sampled environments are in a biodiversity hotspot with heterogeneous soil and climate conditions. By associating quantitative trait variation in initial seedling development with neutral microsatellite marker variation, we tested the local adaptation of the traits by the QSTFST contrast. Genetic drift was prevalent in the phenotypic differentiation among the subpopulations, although the traits seedling emergence time and root green mass, which are relevant for adaptation to the Cerrado climate, showed signs of uniform selection. Our results suggest that E. dysenterica has a spatial genetic structure divided into two large groups, separated by a line that divides the Cerrado biome in a southwestern to northeastern direction. This structure must be taken into account for managing E. dysenterica genetic resources both for conservation and breeding purposes.  相似文献

A previously developed theory of particulate electron conduction enzymes was based on a model of an enzyme particle catalyzing the oxidation-reduction of two different substrates at two different enzymatic sites on the same particle with conduction of electrons between the two sites through the enzyme particle. Using the simplifying assumption that the percent reduction of the second substrate is held constant, there was previously shown to be a hyperbolic relationship between the first order rate constant (k′) and the sum (C x ) of oxidized plus reduced substrate, of the formk′=α/(C x +β), where α and β are positive constants. It is shown here that if this simplifying assumption is omitted, a positive constant is added to the right hand side of this equation, which describes exactly the experimental data of Smith and conrad on cytochrome oxidase. If electron transport is assumed to be coupled to ion transport, this equation becomesk′=(α/C x ) (where γ is a positive constant) which describes the experimental data of Eadie and Gale on pyruvic carboxylase of yeast. It seems probable that the same theory is applicable to coupled ion-ion transport and coupled electron-electron transport in both membranous systems, and in particulate preparations consisting of membrane fragments.  相似文献

Photosynthetic parameters including net photosynthetic rate (PN), transpiration rate (E), water-use efficiency (WUE), and stomatal conductance (gs) were studied in indoor C3 plants Philodendron domesticum (Pd), Dracaena fragans (Df), Peperomia obtussifolia (Po), Chlorophytum comosum (Cc), and in a CAM plant, Sansevieria trifasciata (St), exposed to various low temperatures (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25°C). All studied plants survived up to 0°C, but only St and Cc endured, while other plants wilted, when the temperature increased back to room temperature (25°C). The PN declined rapidly with the decrease of temperature in all studied plants. St showed the maximum PN of 11.9 μmol m?2 s?1 at 25°C followed by Cc, Po, Pd, and Df. E also followed a trend almost similar to that of PN. St showed minimum E (0.1 mmol m?2 s?1) as compared to other studied C3 plants at 25°C. The E decreased up to ≈4-fold at 5 and 0°C. Furthermore, a considerable decline in WUE was observed under cold stress in all C3 plants, while St showed maximum WUE. Similarly, the gs also declined gradually with the decrease in the temperature in all plants. Among C3 plants, Pd and Po showed the maximum gs of 0.07 mol m?2 s?1 at 25°C followed by Df and Cc. However, St showed the minimum gs that further decreased up to ~4-fold at 0°C. In addition, the content of photosynthetic pigments [chlorophyll a, b, (a+b), and carotenoids] was varying in all studied plants at 0°C. Our findings clearly indicated the best photosynthetic potential of St compared to other studied plants. This species might be recommended for improving air quality in high-altitude closed environments.  相似文献
