Four novel cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) complexes of the fluoroquinolone antibiotic ciprofloxacin have been prepared. The compounds were characterized by IR, UV-Visible, molar conductivity and elemental analyses. In all of the complexes, the drug ligand, ciprofloxacin (CFL) was coordinated through two carbonyl oxygen atoms. Octahedral and square-planar geometries have been proposed for the cobalt(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II), and copper(II) complexes, respectively. In vitro tests of susceptibility to these metal complexes showed stronger activity than that of ciprofloxacin against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Bacillus dysenteriae.  相似文献

Antibacterial Schiff bases derived from 1,2,4-triazoles as well as their metal complexes incorporating cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) have been synthesized and characterized. Physico-chemical studies suggest that an octahedral geometry for the cobalt(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II)and square-planer geometry for the copper(II) complexes. These complexes have been screened for antibacterial activity against three Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Bacillus subtilis) and two Gram-negative (Salmonella typhi and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) bacterial strains, and results compared with the activity of the free ligands. The metal complexes were found to be more potent against one or more bacterial strains than the free ligands.  相似文献

Some novel cephalexin-derived furanyl, thiophenyl, pyrrolyl, salicylyl and pyridyl Schiff's bases and their cobalt (II), copper (II), nickel (II) and zinc (II) complexes have been synthesized and studied for their antifungal properties against Trichophyton longifusus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus, Microsporum canis, Fusarium solani and Candida glaberata. The presence of metal ions in the investigated Schiff's base complexes reported here lead to significant antifungal activity, whereas the parent ligands were generally less active.  相似文献

A new series of Schiff base ligands derived from sulfonamide and their metal(II) complexes [cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II)] have been synthesized and characterized. The nature of bonding and structure of all the synthesized compounds has been explored by physical, analytical and spectral data of the ligands and their metal(II) complexes. The authors suggest that all the prepared complexes possess an octahedral geometry. The ligands and metal(II) complexes have been screened for their in vitro antibacterial activity against bacterial strains, Escherichia coli, Shigella flexneri, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi and for antifungal activity against fungal strains, Trichophyton longifusus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus, Microsporum canis, Fusarium solani and Candida glabrata. These assays enabled the identification of the metal complexes as an effective antimicrobial agent with low cytotoxicity.  相似文献

Triazole derived Schiff bases and their metal complexes (cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II), and zinc(II)) have been prepared and characterized using IR, 1H and 13C NMR, mass spectrometry, magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements, and CHN analysis data. The structure of L2, N-[(5-methylthiophen-2-yl)methylidene]-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-amine, has also been determined by the X-ray diffraction method. All the metal(II) complexes showed octahedral geometry except the copper(II) complexes, which showed distorted octahedral geometry. The triazole ligands and their metal complexes have been screened for their in vitro antibacterial, antifungal, and cytotoxic activity. All the synthesized compounds showed moderate to significant antibacterial activity against one or more bacterial strains. It is revealed that all the synthesized complexes showed better activity than the ligands, due to coordination.  相似文献

A new series of antibacterial and antifungal triazine-derived mono- and di-substituted (symmetrical and unsymmetrical) Schiff-bases and their cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) metal complexes have been synthesized and characterized by their elemental analyses, molar conductances, magnetic moments and IR and electronic spectral measurements. IR spectra indicated the ligands to act as tridentate towards divalent metal ions via a trazine-N, the azomethine-N and, indole-NH and deprotonated-O of salicylaldehyde. The magnetic moments and electronic spectral data suggest octahedral geometry for the Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II)complexes and square-pyramid for Cu(II) complexes. NMR spectral data of the ligands and their diamagnetic zinc(II) complexes well-define their proposed structures/geometries. Elemental analyses data of the ligands and metal complexes agree with their proposed structures/geometries. The synthesized ligands, along with their metal complexes were screened for their antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtillis, Shigella flexneri, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella typhi and for antifungal activity against Trichophyton longifusus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus, Microsporum canis, Fusarium solani and Candida glaberata. The results of these studies show the metal complexes to be more antibacterial/antifungal against two or more species as compared to the uncomplexed Schiff-base ligands.  相似文献

These compounds have been screened for antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtillis, Shigella flexneri, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella typhi, and for antifungal activity against Trichophyton longifusus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus, Microsporum canis, Fusarium solani and Candida glaberata using the agar-well diffusion method. A method is described for the preparation of novel cephalexin-derived furanyl-, thiophenyl-, pyrrolyl-, salicylyl- and pyridyl-containing compounds showing potent antibacterial activity. The binding of these newly synthesized antibacterial agents with metal ions such as cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) has been studied and their inhibitory properties against various bacterial species such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae are also reported. These results suggest that metal ions to possess an important role in the designing of metal-based antibacterials and that such complexes are more effective against infectious diseases compared to the uncomplexed drugs.  相似文献

Organometallic-based, 1,1′-diacetylferrocene-derived antibacterial and antifungal thiocarbohydrazone, carbohydrazone, thiosemicarbazone and semicarbazone have been prepared by condensing equimolar amount of 1,1′-diacetylferrocene with thiocarbohydrazide, carbohydrazide thiosemicarbazide and semicarbazide, respectively. These were used as ligands for the preparation of their cobalt (II), copper (II), nickel (II) and zinc (II) metal complexes. All the synthesized ligands and their complexes were characterized by IR, NMR, elemental analyses, molar conductances, magnetic moments and electronic spectral data. These synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtillis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella typhi, and for antifungal activity against Trichophyton longifusus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus, Microsporum canis, Fusarium solani and Candida glaberata using the agar-well diffusion method. All the compounds showed good antibacterial and antifungal activity which increased on coordination with the metal ions thus, introducing a novel class of organometallic-based antibacterial and antifungal agents.  相似文献

A new series of four biologically active triazole derived Schiff base ligands (L1L4) and their cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes (116) have been synthesized and characterized. The ligands were prepared by the condensation reaction of 3-amino-5-methylthio-1H-1,2,4-triazole with chloro-, bromo- and nitro-substituted 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde in an equimolar ratio. The antibacterial and antifungal bioactivity data showed the metal(II) complexes to be more potent antibacterial and antifungal than the parent Schiff bases against one or more bacterial and fungal species.  相似文献

A series of metal complexes of cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II) have been synthesized with newly derived biologically active ligands. These ligands were synthesized by the condensation of 2-amino-4-phenyl-1,3-thiazole with 8-formyl-7-hydroxy- 4-methylcoumarin. The probable structure of the complexes has been proposed on the basis of analytical and spectroscopic data (IR, UV-Vis, ESR, FAB-mass, and thermoanalytical). Electrochemical study of the complexes is also reported. Elemental analysis of the complexes confined them to stoichiometry of the type ML2.2H2O [M = Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II)]. The Schiff base and its metal(II) complexes have been screened for their antibacterial (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus pyogenes, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and antifungal activities (Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, and Cladosporium) by the MIC method. The brine shrimp bioassay was carried out to study their in vitro cytotoxic properties, and also the Schiff base and its metal(II) complexes have been studied for DNA cleavage.  相似文献

Cobalt(II), cobalt(III), nickel(II), copper(II) and palladium(II) complexes with N-2-(2-pyridyl)ethylring-substituted salicylideneiminates (abbreviated as X-Sal-2-Epy) were synthesized. In addition to CoIII (H-Sal-2-Epy)3, the complexes of the formula MII(X-Sal-2-Epy)2·nH2O were obtained in crystals. The cobalt(III) complex is diamagnetic and has an electronic absorption spectrum typical of the six-coordinate, octahedral cobalt(III) complex. The cobalt(II) complexes in the solid state show electronic spectra typical of the six-coordinate cobalt(II) complexes. Electronic spectra also indicate that the nickel(II) complexes in the solid state and in non-donor solvents are six-coordinate, octahedral. In the cobalt(II) and nickel(II) complexes, the ligand X-Sal-2-Epy functions as terdentates, while in the cobalt(III) complex it acts as a bidentate ligand. The results are compared with those reported previously for related ligands.  相似文献

Abstract

A series of three bioactive thiourea (carboxamide) derivatives, N-(dipropylcarbamothioyl)-thiophene-2-carboxamide (L1), N-(dipropylcarbamothioyl)-5-methylthiophene-2-carboxamide (L2) and 5-bromo-N-(dipropylcarbamothioyl)furan-2-carboxamide (L3) and their cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) complexes (1)–(12) have been synthesized and characterized by their IR,1H-NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis data. The Crystal structure of one of the ligand, N-(dipropylcarbamothioyl)thiophene-2-carboxamide (L1) and its nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes were determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction data. All the ligands and metal(II) complexes have been subjected to in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activity against six bacterial species (Escherichia coli. Shigella flexneri. Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Salmonella typhi. Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis) and for antifungal activity against six fungal strains (Trichophyton longifusus. Candida albicans. Aspergillus flavus. Microsporum canis. Fusarium solani and Candida glabrata). The in vitro antibacterial and antifungal bioactivity data showed the metal(II) complexes to be more potent than the parent ligands against one or more bacterial and fungal strains.  相似文献

2-Hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde derived sulfonamides and their first row d-transition metal chelates [cobalt (II), copper (II), nickel (II) and zinc (II)] have been synthesized and characterized. The nature of bonding and structure of all the compounds have been deduced from elemental analyses, infrared, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, mass spectrometry, electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements. An octahedral geometry has been suggested for all the complexes. The metal complexes were screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities on different species of pathogenic bacteria and fungi and their biopotency has been discussed. The results of these studies revealed that all compounds showed moderate to significant antibacterial activity against all bacterial strains and good antifungal activity against various fungal strains. In-vitro cytotoxic properties of all the compounds against Artemia salina was also studies by brine shrimp bioassay.  相似文献

The open-chain, potentially, pentadentate, ligan 1,11-bis(dimethylamino)-3,6,9-trimethyl-3,6,9,-triazaundecane (Me7tetren) forms a series of metal complexes having the general formula [M(Me7tetren)]Y2 (Y = 1, M = Co, Ni; Y = ClO4, M = Co, Ni, Cu, Zn). On the basis of their physical properties, it is suggested that all these compounds contains isostructural five-coordinate [M(Me7tetren)]2+ cations, the ligand acting as pentadentate. These complexes react in solution with thiocyanate ion to give mono- and, with exception of copper(II), di-thiocyanato five- and six-co-ordinate derivatives. Mono-thiocyanato derivatives of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) have been isolated as tetraphenylborate salts. Cobalt(II) and nickel (II) di-thiocyanato derivatives have been also isolated. Results are discussed in terms of the steric requirements of the ligand and electronic properties of the metal ions.  相似文献

The results of these studies show the metal complexes to be more antibacterial and antifungal as compared to the uncomplexed Schiffs' bases. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19, 20,21,22-Docosahydrodibenzo[b,i] [1,4,8,11] tetraazacyclotetradecine was prepared by hydrogenation of the benzo-analogue. Five isomers are feasible as a result of this hydrogenation but only two have been isolated: isomer A (melting point 158.5– 161.0 °C) and isomer B (melting point 194.5– 196.0 °C). The 13C NMR study was initiated to clear up the conformational differences between isomers. The cobalt(III), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes of isomers A and B were prepared and investigated by near-ultraviolet, visible, infrared, NMR and ESR measurements. The ligand-field band in the 15 000-30 000 cm−1 region for the cobalt(III), nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes provided information on their geometry around the central metal atom. That is to say, the cobalt(III) complexes are subjected to the octahedral ligand-field with axial elongation. The copper(II) complexes and the nickel- (II) complex of isomer A are subjected to the square- planar ligand-field in these complexes. The ligand- field bands for the nickel(II)complex of isomer B display the square-planar-distorted octahedral equilibrium in the coordinating solvent. ESR measurements for the copper(II) complexes also presented the spin Hamiltonian parameters in accord with the square- planar coordination. A strong band appearing at ca. 3200 cm−1 was assigned to the N-H stretching mode and this band was slightly shifted to lower frequency upon metal coordination. The vibrational spectra and the conductance data provided evidences for the formation of the complexes with perchlorate ion as the counter ion. 13C NMR suggest that the complexes of isomer A are the cis-syn-cis form and the complexes of isomer B are the cis-anti-cis form.  相似文献

Three novel copper(II), cobalt(II), and nickel(II) complexes of lapachol (Lap) containing 110-phenanthroline (phen) ligand, [M(Lap)2(phen)] (M=Cu(II), 1, Co(II), 2, and Ni(II), 3), have been synthesized and characterized using, elemental analysis and spectroscopic studies. Their interactions with calf thymus DNA (CT DNA) were investigated using viscosity, thermal denaturation, circular dichorism, fluorescence quenching, and electronic absorption spectroscopy. The DNA cleavage abilities of 13 have been studied, where cleavage activity of copper complex 1 is more than the complexes 2 and 3. The in vitro cytotoxic potential of the complexes 1–3 against human cervical carcinoma (HeLa), human liver hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG-2), and human colorectal adenocarcinoma (HT-29) cells indicated their promising antitumor activity with quite low IC50 values in the range of .15–2.41 μM, which are lower than those of cisplatin.  相似文献
