The ventilatory and heart rate responses to exercise were studied in four experienced high-altitude climbers at sea level and during a 6-wk period above 4,500 m to discover whether their responses to hypoxia were similar to those of high-altitude natives. Comparison was made with results from four scientists who lacked their frequent exposure to extreme altitude. The climbers had greater Vo2max at sea level and altitude but similar ventilatory responses to increasing exercise. On acute hypoxia at sea level their ventilatory response was less than that of scientists. Their heart rate response did not differ from that of scientists at sea level, but with acclimatization the reduction in response was significantly greater. Alveolar gas concentrations were similar after acclimatization, but climbers achieved these changes more rapidly. The increase in hematocrit was similar in the two groups. It is concluded that these climbers, unlike high-altitude residents, have cardiorespiratory responses to exercise similar to those of other lowlanders except that their ventilatory response was lower and the reduction in their heart rate response was greater.  相似文献

Fetal and early neonatal development of adrenal catecholaminergic enzymes was studied in rats maintained under normal (normoxic) and high-altitude, 3800 m, 13% PO2 (hypoxic) conditions. In adrenals of normoxic fetuses, tyrosinehydroxylase (TH), DOPA-decarboxylase (DDC), phenylethanolamine-N-methyltransferase (PNMT), catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) and monoamine oxidase (MAO) showed rapid increases in activity from day 19 to day 21 of gestation. The activities of all enzymes but TH were higher at day 1 postpartum compared to fetal values: TH was equiactive just before and after birth. In animals conceived, born and raised at high altitude, several changes indicative of impaired adrenal development occurred. The activities of the synthesizing enzymes, TH, DDC and PNMT, were variably affected at some time during the perinatal period. The activities of the catabolizing enzymes, MAO and COMT, at high altitude were increased on the last days of gestation but depressed after birth, compared to control levels. Catecholamine content in high-altitude adrenals was altered on day 19 of gestation when epinephrine was lower, and again on day 1 postpartum when both norepinephrine and epinephrine were higher than in control adrenals at sea level. Normal developmental changes and high-altitude-induced disturbances in adrenal catecholaminergic enzymes are discussed with reference to differences observed in adrenal cortical function between sea-level and high-altitude animals.  相似文献

目的:分析高原移居者肝脏功能及血脂水平。方法:选择不同海拔高原移居者(平均10年以上)男性80名,无高血压及糖尿病病史。按高原会议订立标准分组:低海拔组(〈1500米)8例,中海拔组(1500-2500米)9例,高海拔组(2500-4500米)36例,特高海拔及以上组(〉4500米)9例,运输组(2700-4600米)18例。清晨抽取空腹静脉血5mL,Roche Modular PE全自动生化免疫分析仪检测肝脏功能及血脂水平。结果:高海拔移居者,总胆红素和直接胆红素升高,总胆固醇、低密度脂蛋白降低;特高海拔及以上移居者(〉4500米),直接胆红素升高,总胆固醇、低密度脂蛋白、载脂蛋白B降低。结论:本文研究结果提示了,高原缺氧环境下,肝脏自身功能抗缺氧发生改变或高原饮食受限可引起肝脏功能变化,进而影响脂类代谢,是机体对长期乏氧状态的适应性改变。  相似文献

Sensitivity to the taste of phenylthiocarbamide (PTC) was studied using the Harris-Kalmus method in healthy human volunteers at sea level and then subsequently at an altitude of 3500 m over a period of 3 weeks, after which they were brought back to sea level. Blood sugar, insulin and blood cortisol levels were estimated weekly. The results indicated that, out of 51 subjects studied, 26 (55%) were PTC tasters at sea level. Eight of those unable to taste PTC at sea level tested as tasters at high altitude, and 2 of them reverted to being non-tasters on return to sea level. In the blood, an increase in cortisol and blood insulin levels was seen without any significant change in sugar levels. All the changes recorded at high altitude tended to return to basal values after re-induction to sea level. The study suggests that high-altitude hypoxia in some way, possibly involving changes in hormonal profile among other factors, causes an alteration in sensitivity to the taste of PTC, resulting in some of the individuals shifting to lower PTC sensitivity. Changes in the weight of diverse parts of the heart, in cross-sectional area of myocytes and vascularization of the myocardium were studied in rat experiments under altitude hypoxia (3200 m above the sea level) during adaptation of the animals to hypoxia. Morphologically, the compensatory and adaptive reactions of the rat to hypoxia were shown by its increases weight at the expense of hypertrophy of the right ventricular myocardium. Vascularization of the myocardium augmented synchronously to its growing hypertrophy.  相似文献

The male rats were raised in two groups, one at Mt. Yatsugatake (2,100 m above sea level, the average ambient temperature 12.5 degrees C) for 30 days, and the other at a laboratory of Matsumoto (610 m above sea level, the average temperature 20 degrees C). The steady-state oxygen consumptions (VO2) and the rectal temperatures (TR) were measured under exposure conditions of various temperatures combined with different simulated altitudes. The values of VO2 and TR for a control group at 610 m-20 degrees C were regarded as 100% and the relative changes to the control values were obtained at various temperatures in the respective low-pressure condition. When measured at a simulated altitude of 2,000 m on the 2nd day after the rats raised at Mt. Yatsugatake were translocated to Matsumoto, the values at 0 degrees C and 10 degrees C room temperatures, VO2 and TR, were still significantly increased as compared with those of rats raised at Matsumoto. On the 40th day after the translocation from Mt. Yatsugatake, however, the values turned out to exhibit no significant difference in both groups. These results indicated that the greater thermogenesis of high-altitude adapted rats had been established by combined stimuli of low temperatures and low pressures as compared with those of Matsumoto-level adapted rats, but the responses returned to the control level by deadaptation process at 40 days after the translocation.  相似文献

The effect of the ventrolateral medulla electrical stimulation of various intensity on resistance, capacitance and exchange functions was studied in the vascular bed of the small intestine. Brain activation with superliminal current applied to a point 2 mm rostral-wise of the middle of the twelfth cranial nerve rootlets has been shown to produce the strongest effect on the precapillary resistance of the vascular bed, whereas brain stimulation in a point 2 mm caudal-wise of this level produces a much stronger effect on the postcapillary small intestine resistance.  相似文献

Isolated segments of hamster small intestine were perfused with oxygenated salt-fluorocarbon emulsions with or without 10-25 mM glucose, alanine or leucine. Resistances of intercellular occluding junctions and of lateral spaces and the distributed capacitance of epithelial plasma membranes were estimated from steady-state transepithelial impedances at frequencies from 0.01-10 kHz. The segments were then fixed in situ with isorheic 2.5% glutaraldehyde while continuing to measure impedance. This method of fixation increased the resistance of lateral spaces but had little effect on the resistance of occluding junctions or on membrane capacitance. The large decreases of impedance induced by glucose or amino acids were preserved in fixed tissue and could therefore be correlated with changes in structure. The observed changes of impedance were interpreted as decreased resistance of occluding junctions and lateral spaces together with increased exposed surface of lateral membranes (capacitance). Glucose, alanine or leucine induced expansion of lateral intercellular spaces as seen by light and electron microscopy. Large dilatations within absorptive cell occluding junctions were revealed by electron microscopy. Freeze-fracture analysis revealed that these dilatations consisted of expansions of compartments bounded by strands/grooves. These solute-induced structural alterations were also associated with condensation of microfilaments in the zone of the perijunctional actomyosin ring, typical of enhanced ring tension. Similar anatomical changes were found in epithelia fixed in situ at 38 degrees C during luminal perfusion with glucose in blood-circulated intestinal segments of anesthetized animals. These structural changes support the hypothesis that Na-coupled solute transport triggers contraction of perijunctional actomyosin, thereby increasing junctional permeability and enhancing absorption of nutrients by solvent drag as described in the two accompanying papers.  相似文献

Serum immunoreactive erythropoietin (siEp) was estimated in samples collected from members of two scientific and mountaineering expeditions, to Mount Kongur in Western China and to Mount Everest in Nepal. SiEp was increased above sea-level control values 1 and 2 days after arrival at 3,500 m and remained high on ascent to 4,500 m. Thereafter, while subjects remained at or above 4,500 m, siEp declined, and by 22 days after the ascent to 4,500 m was at control values but increased on ascent to higher altitude. Thus siEp was at a normal level during the maintenance of secondary polycythemia from high-altitude exposure. On descent, with removal of altitude hypoxia, siEp decreased, but despite secondary polycythemia levels remained measurable and in the range found in subjects normally resident at sea level. On Mount Everest, siEp was significantly (P less than 0.01) elevated above preexpedition sea-level controls after 2-4 wk at or above 6,300 m. There was no correlation between estimates of siEp and plasma renin activity in samples collected before and during both expeditions.  相似文献

At high elevations, the human body experiences a number of pathological, physiological, and biochemical changes, all of which have adverse impacts on human health and organ vitality. This study aimed to investigate the alterations in the liver and kidney biomarkers, oxidative stress markers, gene expression, and cellular histology of rats maintained at high altitudes and normal sea level. A total of twenty male Wistar rats at 2 months of age were randomly assigned to two groups. The rats in group A were maintained at normal sea level in Jeddah, whereas rats in group B were maintained in an area in Taif 2600 m above sea level. After 2 months of housing, orbital blood samples were collected for the analysis of significant biochemical indicators of oxidative stress biomarkers of the liver and kidneys. Liver and kidney tissues from both groups were taken to examine the hepatorenal changes occurring at the biochemical, histological, immunohistochemical, and genetic levels. The results revealed substantial increases in the serum levels of liver and kidney biomarkers (GPT, GOT, urea, and creatinine) and decreases in the serum levels of antioxidant biomarkers (SOD, catalase, GSH, and NO). In parallel, the levels of the malondialdehyde (MDA) tissue damage marker and inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, TNF-α, and IFN-γ) were increased in the high-altitude group compared to the normal sea level group. In addition, there were significant alterations in the oxidative and inflammatory status of rats that lived at high altitude, with considerable upregulation in the expression of hepatic VEGF, type 1 collagen, Cox-2, TNF-α, and iNOS as well as renal EPASI, CMYC, HIF-α, and EGLN-2 genes in the high-altitude group compared with controls housed at normal sea level. In conclusion, living at high altitude induces hepatorenal damage and biochemical and molecular alterations, all of which may serve as critical factors that must be taken into account for organisms living at high altitudes.  相似文献

Eight Y-linked short-tandem-repeat polymorphisms (DYS19, DYS388, DYS389I, DYS389II, DYS390, DYS391, DYS392, and DYS393) were analyzed in four populations of Central Asia, comprising two lowland samples-Uighurs and lowland Kirghiz-and two highland samples-namely, the Kazakhs (altitude 2,500 m above sea level) and highland Kirghiz (altitude 3,200 m above sea level). The results were compared with mtDNA sequence data on the same individuals, to study possible differences in male versus female genetic-variation patterns in these Central Asian populations. Analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) showed a very high degree of genetic differentiation among the populations tested, in discordance with the results obtained with mtDNA sequences, which showed high homogeneity. Moreover, a dramatic reduction of the haplotype genetic diversity was observed in the villages at high altitude, especially in the highland Kirghiz, when compared with the villages at low altitude, which suggests a male founder effect in the settlement of high-altitude lands. Nonetheless, mtDNA genetic diversity in these highland populations is equivalent to that in the lowland populations. The present results suggest a very different migration pattern in males versus females, in an extended historical frame, with a higher migration rate for females.  相似文献

Morphological and structural rearrangement of resistant pulmonary vessels and alveolar capillaries was assessed in lowland animals (rabbits) during high-altitude adaptation, in aboriginal high-altitude species (yaks, mountain goats) and on native highlanders. Structural adaptive developments in pulmonary vessels and capillaries of high-altitude animals contribute to maximal facilitation of gas diffusion. Similar adaptive changes in pulmonary resistant vessels and capillaries of laboratory animals and in native highlanders are associated with pathological alterations manifest in the elevation of pulmonary vascular resistance, right ventricular hypertrophy, increases in the thickness of the basal membrane of the air-blood barrier. In all the subjects studied the process of high-altitude adaptation is associated with hypertrophy of pulmonary endothelium. The intensification of pulmonary endothelium. To evaluate adaptive responses to high-altitude environment, we examined three groups of healthy adult males from Central Asia: 94 high-altitude (HA) Kirghiz subjects (3,200 m above sea level); 114 middle-altitude (MA) Kazakh subjects (2,100 m), and 90 low-altitude (LA) Kirghiz subjects (900 m). Data on chest size (chest perimeter and chest diameter), lung volume (forced expiratory volume (FEV) and forced expiratory volume in 1 sec (FEV1)), and hematological parameters (hemoglobin, erythrocytes, hematocrit, and SaO(2)) are discussed. The results show that 1) chest shape is less flat in the samples living at higher altitude. In the HA sample, chest perimeter is lower but chest excursion is high. 2) In the highlanders, forced vital capacity (FVC) and FEV1 are no higher than in the other samples, even when corrected for stature and body weight. The negative correlation between FVC-FEV1 and age decreases with increasing altitude. 3) The HA and MA samples have higher values of hemoglobin, erythrocytes, and hematocrit. The HA sample has lower SaO(2) and higher arterial oxygen content than the LA sample. No association between hematocrit and age was detected in the four samples. The results indicate that the high-altitude Kirghiz present features of developmental acclimatization to hypobaric hypoxia which are also strongly influenced by other major high-altitude environmental stresses.  相似文献

Experiments were conducted on 969 mature rabbits; combined radiation injury (in general irradiation with 500 r and even more so in local irradiation with 2000 r) inflicated during the first two adaptation phases (particularly the first one) to the high altitide (3379 and 3640 m above the sea level) led to more profound morphological changes in the tissues and to the greater delay in the healing of the penetrating wounds on the pinna than in the valley (820 m above the sea level).  相似文献

对生长于青藏高原东北部3个不同海拔地区(2300、2700和3800m)的火绒草叶片的光合特性进行了比较研究。结果发现,随着海拔的升高,叶绿素含量有降低的趋势,而叶绿素a/b比值及类胡萝卜素相对含量呈上升趋势。与海拔2300m处的相比,生长于海拔3800m处的火绒草的净光合速率、表观量子效率和光补偿点较低,但光饱和点较高。研究表明,火绒草在光合特性上的变化是对逆境的一种适应.是青藏高原特殊生态条件长期胁迫的结果。  相似文献

对青藏高原东缘 5个不同海拔高度 ( 2 4 2 6m、2 75 0 m、32 0 0 m、3484m和 3944m)上旷地和林下遮荫条件下匍匐茎草本野草莓的分株种群特征进行了研究。结果显示 :无论在旷地或林下遮荫条件下 ,野草莓分株种群的密度随海拔升高显著减小 ,旷地条件下野草莓分株种群密度显著高于遮荫条件下的分株种群密度。不同海拔高度上 ,野草莓分株种群密度在不同光照条件下的变化存在显著差异。旷地条件下 ,随海拔升高其根冠比呈二次曲线变化。林下遮荫条件下 ,海拔 2 4 2 6m处的根冠比最低。光照条件的变化对野草莓分株种群的根冠比没有显著影响。运用空间自相关分析法 ( Moran` I)研究和 3944m处野草莓分株种群的空间分布格局 ,结果显示野草莓分株种群在多个尺度上呈现非随机分布格局 ,其中研究了海拔 348m处 d=1( 0 .2 m)尺度的集聚分布格局频率最高 ;与海拔 3484m相比 ,3944m处野草莓分株种群的集聚尺度更大。最后 ,结合克隆植物对环境的生态适应意义进行了讨论。  相似文献

Recent studies indicate that regression of left ventricular hypertrophy normalizes membrane ionic current abnormalities. This work was designed to determine whether regression of right ventricular hypertrophy induced by permanent high-altitude exposure (4,500 m, 20 days) in adult rats also normalizes changes of ventricular myocyte electrophysiology. According to the current data, prolonged action potential, decreased transient outward current density, and increased inward sodium/calcium exchange current density normalized 20 days after the end of altitude exposure, whereas right ventricular hypertrophy evidenced by both the right ventricular weight-to-heart weight ratio and the right ventricular free wall thickness measurement normalized 40 days after the end of altitude exposure. This morphological normalization occurred at both the level of muscular tissue, as shown by the decrease toward control values of some myocyte parameters (perimeter, capacitance, and width), and the level of the interstitial collagenous connective tissue. In the chronic high-altitude hypoxia model, the regression of right ventricular hypertrophy would not be a prerequisite for normalization of ventricular electrophysiological abnormalities.  相似文献

It has been established in experiments on 280 white randombred male rats weighing 100-120 g that the lifting of the animals from the valley (820 m above the sea level) to the mountains (3379 m above the sea level) brings about within the first day marked suppression of the mitotic activity of the epithelium of involuted renal tubules. This activity increases beginning from the end of the first week, approaches the control value by the 30th day of adaptation and almost completely returns to normal by the 60th day of the animals' stay in the mountains. The circadian rhythms of the mitotic activity appeared undisturbed and was monophasic in nature.  相似文献

Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) was used to study the bacterial community changes in the intestine of the sea urchin Strongylocentrotus intermedius during the digestion of Macrocystis pyrifera. The distinct bands in DGGE gels were sequenced, and the results indicated that the bacterial community in the large and small intestine varied at different periods of digestion. Samples from the large intestine included six specific bands belonging to the genus Psychromonas, whereas samples from the small intestine included eight specific bands representing Psychromonas, Shewanella, Saccharophagus degradans, and Nitrosomonas eutropha. The bacterial flora differed at different periods of digestion. The increase in the microbial community species in the large intestine was not obvious compared with that in the small intestinal microbial community. Several microbes involved in degradation of M. pyrifera were found in the intestine of sea urchin.  相似文献
