The following taxa are represented in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda): Albuca kirkii (Bak.) Brenan (2n = 18), A. abyssinica Murr. (2n = 18, 36), A. tenuis Knudtzon sp. nov. (2n = 18). The general haploid karyotype is 3L + 6S. The two first species are fairly heterogenous, with characteristic facies in local populations, but with little or no constant correlation of characters over wide areas. Infraspecific incompatibility is observed, but only slightly combined with differences in morphology or level of ploidy.  相似文献

Muscari vuralii Y. Bağcı & Doğu sp. nov. (Liliaceae/Hyacinthaceae) from the Karaman (C4 Karaman–Turkey) is described and illustrated. It is closely related to M. coeleste Fomin and M. macbeathianum Kit Tan. Diagnostic morphological characters are discussed and a key to related Muscari species in Turkey is given. The geographical distribution of the new species is mapped. Notes are also presented on its ecology, biogeography and conservation status.  相似文献

Microcladia exserta, a new species of the red algal genus Microcladia Greville (Ceramiaceae, Ceramiales), is described from the Natal coast of South Africa. This small, creeping alga, an epiphyte on the coralline alga Amphiroa anceps (Lamarck) Decaisne, is distinguished from other species in the genus by the following combination of characteristics: the prostrate habit, the exerted position of the tetrasporangia, and the presence in the cortex of numerous and conspicuous vesicle cells. Evidence is presented to demonstrate that the criterion of an erect habit in Microcladia vs. a prostrate habit in Herpochondria used to separate these genera is not sound.  相似文献

A new species, Aspalathus crewiana is described and illustrated. It is closely similar to A. lenticula in the strongly rostrate keel petals and thorny leaflets, but differs in the subulate, spine‐tipped bracts, bracteoles and calyx lobes, presence of a pseudo‐peduncle and larger flowers. The new species, like A. lenticula, is placed in the Terminales group of A. subgenus Aspalathus. It is known from only two localities in the Western Cape where it was collected in Swartland Granite Renosterveld.  相似文献

Clivia robusta B.G. Murray, Ran, de Lange, Hammett, Truter et Swanevelder sp. nov. (Amaryllidaceae) is a tubular, pendulous-flowered Clivia species, restricted to the Pondoland Centre of Endemism, South Africa. The unique morphology, distribution, karyotype and molecular fingerprint distinguish it from all other pendulous-flowered species in the genus.  © 2004 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2004, 146 , 369–374.  相似文献

The terrestrial diatom Microcostatus schoemanii sp. nov. is described from dry soils of the Faan Meintjies Nature Reserve (North‐West Province, South Africa). Microcostatus cholnokyi sp. nov. and Microcostatus angloensis sp. nov. are described from sandy soils at a colliery near the town of Kriel (Mpumalanga Province, South Africa). The morphology of these taxa is examined using both light and scanning electron microscopy and new taxa are compared with similar species. In M. schoemanii the density of the striae combined with the valve outline and the distance between the central raphe endings are the main distinguishing morphological features. M. cholnokyi is differentiated by the presence of a conopeum and the distinct structure of the microcostae. M. angloensis is similar to M. schoemanii but differentiated by the shape of the cell and the apices, the angle of striation and the distance in between the proximal raphe endings.  相似文献

The new species Roella divina is described and illustrated. It belongs in R. ser. Muscosae Adamson and is closely similar to R. uncinata Cupido. R. divina is only known from mountains in the Hottentots Holland range in the Western Cape, South Africa, where it was first collected in 1916. A distribution map and conservation assessment are provided.  相似文献

Cyclotella ortentalis sp. nov, is described from an epilithic sample taken in Lake Imha, located in Kyungsangbuk-do. South Korea. The species is characterized by a conspicuous and short costa regularly extending from each marginal fultoportula to the valve margin. It can be included in the Cyclotella stelligeroid group. The new species can be separated from the most similar species C. stelligera Cleve et Grunov var. stelligera by the more distant position of marginal fultoportulae from the valve margin, the external long tubes of fultoportulae and having short costae. It differs from C. stelligera var. robusta Must, and var. hyalina Hust., in having much denser marginal striae; from C. glomerata H. Bachm., C. pseudostelligera Hust., C. stelligeroides Must, and C. woltereckii Hust., in its much larger valve, coarser marginal striae and short costae with fultoportulae.  相似文献

A new species of Mallomonas (Synurophyceae), Mallomonas jejuensis sp. nov., has been found in Jeju Island, South Korea. This species is placed in the series Mangoferae (section Torquatae) because it has a collar of elongated domed scales, domeless body scales, rear scales with spines and all scales ornamented with papillae. The morphological characteristics of the scales and bristle of the new species are described by EM and compared with those reported for the other species of the series Mangoferae.  相似文献

A new species of Porphyra is described from the south western Cape, South Africa. The gametophyte of Porphyra aeodis sp. nov. grows epiphytically on Aeodes orbitosa (Suhr) Schmitz, and has a seasonal life history that matches that of its host. Although P. aeodis has been confused with P. capensis Kützing in the past, P. aeodis is more similar to the sympatric but epilithic P. saldanhae Stegenga, Bolton et Anderson. There is considerable morphological overlap between P. aeodis and P. saldanhae, although they may be distinguished using a combination of morphological and ecological characters. The taxonomic separation of P. aeodis and P. saldanhae was confirmed using isozyme electrophoresis.  相似文献

A new species ofPhaeosphaeria is described from mangroves in South Africa. InPhaeosphaeria capensis ascospores are 29–36×7–8 μm, cylindric-fusiform or somewhat clavate, widest at the middle, narrow at the base and rounded at the apex, (6-)7-septate, light brown or brown, minutely verruculose and surrounded by a spreading, mucilaginous sheath. It is compared withP. luctuosa andP. berlesei from grasses.  相似文献

A new Plio-Pleistocene viverrid species is described based on two newly discovered maxillae (KW 10141 and KW 10383) from the recent excavations at the hominin-bearing site of Kromdraai (Gauteng, South Africa). This major site allows us to address the conundrum of Paranthropus and Homo origins in South Africa and presents a highly diverse carnivore spectrum (at least 22 species) including herpestids and viverrids. Civettictis braini nov. sp. is a viverrid species comparable in size to the extant African civet Civettictis civetta (Schreber, 1776). However C. braini nov. sp. differs significantly from the extant species in its dental proportions. Its canine and three premolars (P1–P3) are relatively robust, while its carnassials (P4) and two molars (M1, M2) are extremely reduced. This new species supplements our knowledge on carnivore taxonomic diversity and paleoecology in Southern Africa about 2 millions of years ago.  相似文献

Chassalia magnificens, a new species from the Albertine Rift in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, is described and illustrated. The species is recognised inter alia by its large stipules and montane habitat. Chassalia chrysoclada is a new combination for a widespread, but hitherto overlooked, central African species originally described in the genus Psychotria. Chassalia chrysoclada is related to C. pteropetala (K. Schum.) Cheek but lacks the bicostate twigs and dorsally winged corolla lobes of that species.  相似文献
