Two regions of mitochondrial (mt) DNA, cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (COI) and 16S rRNA, were sequenced in nine species of Betta from Thailand and Indonesia. Most species showed little intraspecific COI variation (adjusted mean = 0·48%) including the putative species Betta sp. Mahachai, but one species (Betta smaragdina) included three lineages showing much greater divergence (7·03–13·48%) that probably represent overlooked species. These findings were confirmed by maximum likelihood analysis and Bayesian inference, which revealed well‐supported corresponding monophyletic clades. Based on these results and morphological differences, the putative species Betta sp. Mahachai from central Thailand is a species distinct from other members of the B. splendens group and represents a new and hitherto undescribed species. Furthermore, this study also demonstrated the probable existence of two overlooked Betta species found in the Khorat plateau basin, illustrating the utility of mitochondrial genetic markers in the revelation of overlooked diversity. 相似文献

Abstract Piper protrusum Chaveer. & Tanee, sp. nov. is described and illustrated. It dominantly comprises three branching types with three different types of leaf blades, bases, and apexes. The critical distinguishing character is the protruded receptacle having a bract and nine stamens. Individual plants have been discovered in areas of Southern Thailand since 2004 without reproductive parts. The investigated sites were revisited several times, and an individual with flowers was finally found in July 2009. Phylogenetic analysis of the new species and five similar species is carried out based on DNA fingerprinting. The genetic distances between the new species and five similar species range from 0.25 to 0.35, supporting new species designation. Molecular data conform to morphological data in validating that it is a new species. Additionally, its DNA barcodes have been provided for further identification in case the morphological data is unclear. The sequence data have been submitted to the GenBank database under accession numbers GU980898 (rpoB gene), GU980899 (rpoC1 gene), and GU980900 (psbA‐trnH region). 相似文献

There have been few studies on the taxonomy and biodiversity of the genus Lentinus in Thailand, which is a genus of edible mushrooms. Recently, collections from 17 sites in northern Thailand yielded 47 specimens
of Lentinus sensu lato. Three were shown to be new species of Lentinus sensu stricto and Lentinus roseus, L. concentricus and L. megacystidiatus are introduced in this paper. The new species are described and illustrated with line drawings and are justified and compared
with similar taxa. Furthermore, ITS sequence data do not match closely with any species presently lodged in GenBank. 相似文献

Khaosokia caricoides , D.A. Simpson, Chayam. & J. Parn., a newly discovered genus and species of Cyperaceae is described and illustrated. The genus is characterized by a narrowly paniculate dioecious inflorescence with 2–4 nodes, each of the nodes having a leaf-like inflorescence bract that exceeds the inflorescence. Spikelets in both sexes are linear-cylindric and each flower has seven perianth bristles. The nutlet was immature in the specimens examined. The photosynthetic pathway is C3 . Khaosokia is endemic to limestone cliffs in peninsular Thailand; its conservation status is assessed as Vulnerable (VU B1a + 2a). It has affinities to tribes Cariceae, Dulichieae and some members of Scirpeae, but the exact nature of these relationships has yet to be determined. A revised key to the genera of Cyperaceae in Thailand is presented. © 2005 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2005, 149 , 357–364. 相似文献

Summary A new criconematid genus Amphisbaenema is proposed, its type being a new species, A. paradoxiger, from Western Samoa which shows an unusual combination of features in that the outer layer of the female cuticle is broken up into numerous platelets and the female head is rounded without submedian lobes, labial plates or pseudolips; the male has prominent caudal alae and juveniles have longitudinal rows of tubercles over most of the body which is covered by an outer layer of fine backwardly directed spines. Nothocriconema lamellatum (Raski & Golden, 1966) De Grisse, 1967 is transferred to this genus and a second new species, A. amicorum, from Tonga is tentatively assigned to it. Two new Nothocriconema species, N. polynesianum and N. lanxifrons, are also described. ac]19810806 相似文献

Carex rainbowii (Cariceae, Cyperaceae), a new species from the Drakensberg mountains (KwaZulu-Natal province), is described and illustrated. It was found in the shady understory of the Afromontane forest in the Cathedral Peak area. An additional, nearby population was also identified based on previously collected herbarium material. Morphological and molecular (cpDNA 5′trnK intron and nrDNA ITS and ETS sequences) data were used to evaluate the taxonomic status of these populations and shed light on their systematic placement. Our data strongly support their taxonomic identity and inclusion in Carex sect. Sylvaticae. The new species can be readily distinguished from other related taxa mainly by the frequently androgynecandrous terminal spike, dense female spikes, hyaline glumes, as well as by some quantitative features. This finding implies a considerable biogeographic disjunction from the mainly Eurasian-North African range of the remaining species of sect. Sylvaticae, a pattern also found in the related sections Ceratocystis, Rhynchocystis and Spirostachyae. Comments are provided on previous misidentifications of C. rainbowii as the closely related Carex sylvatica. Data pertinent to the conservation status of the species are provided. 相似文献

In a recent study unusual taxa of epiphyllous ascomycota belonging to Chaetothyriaceae (Eurotiomycetes) were collected in northern Thailand. This family is poorly understood due to morphological confusion and lack of phylogenetic studies. This paper deals with three new species, Ceramothyrium thailandicum, Chaetothyrium brischofiacola and Phaeosaccardinula ficus, which are fully described and illustrated. A DNA sequence analyses of LSU and ITS rDNA genes shows that the new species cluster in the Chaetothyriaceae. This paper adds six sequences for Chaetothyriaceae to GenBank, providing much needed data for the family. 相似文献

The mating systems operating in seven species of Marasmius collected recently in northern Thailand were determined. Marasmius cremeus belonging to sect. Sicci subsect. Siccini ser. Leonini, and Marasmius straminiceps belonging to sect. Marasmius subsect. Sicciformes are described as new species. Five members of sect. Marasmius were tetrapolar (bifactorial), viz. M. apatelius, M. guyanensis, M. nigrobrunneus, M. ruforotula, and M. straminiceps. Two members of sect. Sicci were bipolar (unifactorial), viz., M. corneri (syn. M. incarnatus) and M. cremeus. Our data support the hypothesis that the mating system is consistent within infrageneric taxa. The seven species that are herein described, illustrated, and compared with phenetically similar species represent the first reports for this genus in Thailand. 相似文献

Family Polycopidae is one of the more abundant and diverse taxa occurring in marine interstitial environments. Most of the interstitial polycopids are so far known from Japan and belong to the genus Parapolycope Klie, 1936. In this paper we describe another four new species from Japan. A new genus, K liecope gen. nov. is erected to include one new species K liecope mihoensis sp. nov. and one new combination Kliecope oligohalina (Tanaka & Tsukagoshi, 2010) comb. nov. Although the morphology of K liecope is similar to Parapolycope, the new genus has the following diagnostic characters: absence of an inward bulge on the antennular second podomere, presence of two setae bearing a sucker on the antennular third podomere, and absence of a dorsal seta on the basis of mandibula. Another three Parapolycope, P arapolycope setouchiensis sp. nov. , P arapolycope subtidalis sp. nov. , and P arapolycope miurensis sp. nov. are described as well. To test the phylogenetic relationship between the new genus and Parapolycope, we performed phylogenetic analyses based on the 14 18S rDNA sequences of interstitial Polycopidae species, 12 of which were newly obtained from our material. The 18S gene proved to be suitable for phylogenetic analyses in polycopids with high intraspecific or intrageneric resolution. Here we present trees obtained with maximum likelihood, maximum parsimony, and neighbour‐joining methods, and they support the divergence between Kliecope and Parapolycope with high bootstrap values. © 2014 The Linnean Society of London 相似文献

The morphological variability of four species of the euphausiid genus Thysanoessa from Kamchatka waters was studied. The neglecta form and 18 variants of the abdomen structure were found in Th. inermis. Th. raschii and Th. inermis exhibited four variants of eye shape; Th. longipes had three variants. In Th. longipes and Th. raschii, a tooth on the lateral edge of the carapace can be positioned closer to the middle. The most variable morphological features in Th. raschii were the location of a tooth on the carapace; in Th. longipes, the length of the second pair of thoracic legs and the position of a tooth on the carapace; in Th. inspinata, the length of the second pair of legs; in Th. inermis, the eye shape and the structure of the abdomen. A new key for the identification of euphausiids of the genus Thysanoessa that inhabit the Russian Far Eastern seas is proposed. 相似文献

Phylogenetic relationships between Allium and the monotypic Himalayan genus Milula were analyzed using sequences of the nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and of the intergenic spacers from the chloroplast trnD(GUC)-trnT(GGU) region. Both marker systems unambiguously placed Milula spicata within Allium subgenus Rhizirideum, close to A. cyathophorum. Morphologically, the main difference between Allium and Milula is the conspicuous spicate inflorescence of Milula vs the mostly capitate or umbellate inflorescences in Allium. Anatomical investigations of leaf characters support a close relationship of Milula with A. cyathophorum and A. mairei, whereas root characters are distinctive from other species of section Cyathophora. To maintain Allium as monophyletic, Milula has been included as A. spicatum in Allium subgenus Rhizirideum. 相似文献

One new genus and four new species of eriophyoid mites from Hainan, China are described and illustrated in this paper: Dicoxiseta Wang, Tan & Yang, gen. nov., D. litsea Wang, Tan & Yang, sp. nov. infesting Litsea monopetala(Roxb.) Pers.(Lauraceae), Eriophyes casearius Wang, Yang & Tan, sp. nov. infesting Casearia glomerata Roxb.(Flacourtiaceae), Phyllocoptruta alstonia Wang, Gu & Tan, sp. nov. infesting Alstonia scholaris(L.) R. Br.(Apocynaceae) and Aculus paederius Wang, Gu & Tan, sp. nov. infesting Paederia scandens(Lour.) Merr.(Rubiaceae). Tegolophus artocarpi Keifer, 1977 is newly recorded from China. E. casearius Wang, Yang & Tan, sp. nov. distorts severely new foliage of its host plant. Three species, P. alstonia Wang, Gu & Tan, sp. nov., A. paederius Wang, Gu & Tan, sp. nov. and T. artocarpi, cause rust on the undersurfaces of host plants, while D. litsea Wang, Tan & Yang, sp. nov. is a vagrant on the undersurface of host plant leaves, without visible symptom. 相似文献
