Six patients with Cushing's disease and three with Cushing's syndrome due to an adrenal adenoma were monitored after their adenomectomy with the corticotropin-releasing hormone test to evaluate the progress of recovery of their pituitary adrenal function. Before surgery the patients with Cushing's disease showed either high, normal or low responses of plasma ACTH and cortisol to 100 micrograms synthetic ovine corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) administered intravenously, whereas all three patients with Cushing's syndrome due to an adrenal adenoma showed no response of plasma ACTH or cortisol to CRH. One or two months after surgery, the patients who had Cushing's disease had low levels of basal plasma ACTH and cortisol and their responses to CRH were extremely low. However, the same patients were tested later, it was found that their responses to CRH gradually increased and reached normal ranges approximately within one year after tumor removal, which coincided with the overall improvement in their clinical signs and symptoms due to adrenal insufficiency. In contrast, the recovery of the pituitary adrenal function in patients who had Cushing's syndrome due to an adrenal adenoma was not complete even one year after surgery. Thus the corticotropin-releasing factor test is a useful criteria to evaluate the recovery of the pituitary adrenal function in these patients after surgery, since the responses of plasma ACTH and cortisol to the administered CRH are parallel with the improvements in clinical signs and symptoms due to adrenal insufficiency in patients with Cushing's disease.  相似文献

Hypothalamic-pituitary function was evaluated in a combination of tests with four hypothalamic releasing hormones (4RHs) and L-dopa in normal subjects and in patients with hypothalamic and/or pituitary disorders. Plasma concentrations of anterior pituitary hormones (GH, ACTH, TSH, PRL, LH and FSH) were measured before and after simultaneous iv administration of GHRH, CRH, TRH and LHRH. In addition, changes in the plasma levels of GHRH and GH were investigated before and after oral administration of L-dopa. Normal subjects showed appreciable responses to both tests. In five patients with hypothalamic disorders, the response of plasma anterior pituitary hormones varied, but plasma GHRH and GH did not respond to L-dopa. Patients with idiopathic and postpartum hypopituitarism showed low response to 4RHs or none at all, but L-dopa evoked a normal GHRH response in 2 of the 4 cases having no GH response. In the patients with hypopituitarism due to resection of a pituitary tumor, the response of anterior pituitary hormones to 4RHs was low, and L-dopa administration induced a normal GHRH and low GH response in 5 out of the 7 cases. After 4RHs administration, the patients with ACTH deficiency syndrome showed different patterns of impaired ACTH secretion, and isolated, combined or limited ACTH reserve. Seven patients with anorexia nervosa showed exaggerated GH, delayed TSH and FSH, low ACTH and LH, that is, normal PRL response to 4RHs, but no response of plasma GHRH or GH to L-dopa, suggesting the presence of hypothalamic dysfunction. These results indicate that the combination of the 4RHs test and L-dopa test is a simple and useful means for evaluating hypothalamic-pituitary function by measuring the response of plasma GHRH and six anterior pituitary hormones in the patients with endocrine disorders.  相似文献

Basal levels of sex steroids, and the responses of LH and FSH to LH-RH were studied in twenty-five female patients with Cushing's syndrome (17 Cushing's disease and 8 adrenocortical adenoma). Only two patients had a regular menstrual cycle. Amenorrhea or oligomenorrhea had been of long duration in the other cases except for three postmenopausal patients. In patients with Cushing's disease, basal estradiol was low or below normal in 86%. Progesterone was normal in 83%, but testosterone was high in half of the cases. The response of LH to LH-RH in patients with Cushing's disease was normal in 35%, low in 35% and high in 29% of the cases. FSH response to LH-RH was normal in 23.5%, low in 23.5% and high in 53%. In patients with adrenocortical adenoma, basal of estradiol was low or below normal, but progesterone and testosterone were normal in all cases. The response of LH and FSH to LH-RH in all patients with adrenocortical adenoma was higher than normal. In three postmenopausal women, a higher response of LH and FSH to LH-RH was seen in two cases and suppressed in one case. These data suggest that the main site of suppression of the gonadal axis in patients with adrenocortical adenoma is the gonad rather than the pituitary gland or hypothalamus, though the mechanism of hypogonadism in patients with Cushing's disease is heterogeneous.  相似文献

An extract of a pancreatic carcinoid tumor obtained at autopsy from a patient who had suffered from Cushing's syndrome was found to have the ability to release thyrotropin (but not any other pituitary hormones) from cultured rat anterior pituitary cells, and to bind to a specific thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) antiserum. The tumor contained 2.2 and 3.9 nmol/g of TRH bio- and immunoreactivity, respectively. The active material was purified and its amino acid composition and chromatographic properties were found to be identical with those of synthetic ovine/porcine TRH. This represents the first isolation of human TRH and the first established case of a 'TRHoma', a TRH-producing tumor.  相似文献

Pituitary-thyroid axis function and gonadotropin secretion were evaluated by a combined TRH and LHRH test in 4 newborn female infants appropriate for gestational age of mothers treated by AEDs throughout pregnancy. We found: high basal FSH levels with normal FSH reserve, normal LH-HCG levels both before and after LHRH stimulation, normal TSH and T4 levels both before and after TRH stimulation, high T3 basal values with a normal increase after TRH and low rT3 basal values. It is suggested an AED increased T4 deiodination towards T3 in the newborn liver without a marked impairment of the endocrine functions of the fetus.  相似文献

The effect of incubation with LHRH and its agonist [D-Trp6, des-Gly-NH2(10)]LHRH ethylamide has been measured on the concentrations of mRNAs for the common alpha-subunit of glycoprotein hormones and beta-LH in rat anterior pituitary cells in primary culture. After incubation, total RNA was analyzed by Northern blot or dot blot hybridization with alpha- and LH beta 32P-labeled cRNA probes and mRNA levels were quantified by autoradiography. Short-term treatment (4-6 h) of pituitary cells with 100 nM LHRH led to a marked stimulation of LH release but no effect was observed on alpha-subunit or LH beta mRNA levels. Longer (24-72 h) incubation periods with LHRH led to complete desensitization of the LH response to the neurohormone and induced 2- to 3-fold increases in alpha-mRNA cell content while LH beta mRNA levels remained unchanged. Maximal induction of alpha mRNA accumulation was observed with an LHRH concentration as low as 0.1 nM. Incubation with the LHRH agonist [D-Trp6, des-Gly-NH2(10)]LHRH ethylamide for 24-72 h also increased alpha mRNA but did not modify LH-beta mRNA levels. It is concluded that long-term exposure of anterior pituitary cells to LHRH or to an LHRH agonist positively regulates alpha-subunit gene expression in the absence of change in LH beta mRNA levels. This observation can provide an explanation for the high plasma levels of free alpha-subunits found in patients treated chronically with LHRH agonists.  相似文献

The effect of a superactive agonistic analog of luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH), [D-Trp6]LHRH on prolactin (PRL) secretion by perifused rat pituitary cells was investigated. Constant infusion of [D-Trp6]LHRH (0.5 ng/min) for 2-3 h elicited a significant decrease in PRL secretion by these cells. This decrease in PRL release started ca. 30 min after the beginning of the infusion with the LHRH analog and lasted up to 1.5-2 h. [D-Trp6]LHRH significantly stimulated luteinizing hormone (LH) secretion during the first 30 min of peptide infusion; thereafter, LH levels began to return to control values. In animals pretreated in vivo with 50 micrograms of [D-Trp6]LHRH (s.c.) 1 h before sacrifice, PRL secretion by the rat pituitary cell perifusion system was significantly lower than vehicle-injected controls throughout the entire [D-Trp6]LHRH infusion period. On the other hand, thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH)-stimulated PRL secretion was slightly, but significantly imparied by [D-Trp6]LHRH infusion, while dopamine (DA) inhibition of PRL release was unaffected by this same treatment. These results reinforce previous observations of a modulatory effect of [D-Trp6]LHRH, probably mediated by pituitary gonadotrophs, on PRL secretion by the anterior pituitary. In addition, our findings suggest that basal PRL secretion by the lactotroph may be dependent on a normal function of the gonadotroph. The collected data from this and previous reports support the existence of a functional link between gonadotrophs and lactotrophs in the rat pituitary gland.  相似文献

Different peptide hormones influence hormone secretion in pituitary cells by diverse second messenger systems. Recent data indicate that luteinizing-hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) stimulates and somatostatin inhibits voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels of GH3 cells via pertussis-toxin-sensitive mechanisms [Rosenthal et al. (1988) EMBO J. 7, 1627-1633]. In other pituitary cell lines, somatostatin has been shown to cause a pertussis-toxin-sensitive decrease in adenylate cyclase activity, and LHRH and thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) stimulate phosphoinositol lipid hydrolysis in a pertussis-toxin-independent manner. Whether stimulation of Ca2+ influx by TRH is affected by pertussis toxin is not known. In order to elucidate which of the hormone receptors interact with pertussis-toxin-sensitive and -insensitive G-proteins, we measured the effects of LHRH, somatostatin and TRH on high-affinity GTPases in membranes of GH3 cells. In control membranes, both LHRH and TRH stimulated the high-affinity GTPase by 20%, somatostatin by 25%. Maximal hormone effects were observed at a concentration of about 1 microM. Pretreatment of cells with pertussis toxin abolished pertussis-toxin-catalyzed [32P]ADP-ribosylation of 39-40-kDa proteins in subsequently prepared membranes and reduced basal GTPase activity. The toxin also reduced by more than half the increases in GTPase activity induced by LHRH and TRH; stimulation of GTPase by somatostatin was completely suppressed. Stimulation of adenylate cyclase by vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) was not impaired by pretreatment of cells with pertussis toxin. Somatostatin but not LHRH and TRH decreased forskolin-stimulated adenylate cyclase activity. The results suggest that the activated receptors for LHRH and TRH act via pertussis-toxin-sensitive and -insensitive G-proteins, whereas effects of somatostatin are exclusively mediated by pertussis-toxin-sensitive G-proteins.  相似文献

A stimulation test with 100 micrograms ovine or human corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) is a useful diagnostic tool in diseases of the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal axis. No serious side effects were observed during the test procedure. The results showed that the CRF test is useful in making the differential diagnosis of established Cushing's syndrome (n = 42). The CRF test was also repeated after transsphenoidal surgery in 25 patients with Cushing's disease. Successfully operated patients exhibit no, blunted or normal adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) responses to CRF (n = 15), whereas patients who did not show remission remained hyperresponsive (n = 10). In patients with autonomous adrenal cortisol secretion, the ACTH response to CRF was suppressed (n = 10). After surgery the ACTH response to CRF can already be demonstrated when cortisol levels are still undetectable. Pulsatile administration of CRF in one patient after unilateral adrenalectomy and another patient under corticoid therapy revealed that ACTH responses to CRF normalize rapidly but cannot be sustained if CRF administration is withdrawn, suggesting that the cause of adrenal failure after unilateral adrenalectomy for Cushing's syndrome or long-term corticoid therapy is due to hypothalamic CRF deficiency. The decrease of the ACTH responses to CRF in glucocorticoid-treated patients correlated directly to the daily corticoid dosage. Since the ACTH hyperresponse to CRF in 6 patients with Cushing's disease was also suppressed by short-term dexamethasone treatment, the pituitary level as target site for the acute feedback inhibition is also demonstrated. The evaluation of the CRF-induced ACTH response in patients with secondary adrenal failure without detectable pathology in the sella and suprasellar region (n = 6) enables the differentiation between hypothalamic and pituitary adrenal insufficiency. In patients with hypothalamic lesions the ACTH response to CRF was normal whereas insulin hypoglycemia failed to induce an ACTH rise.  相似文献

Human corticotropin-releasing hormone (hCRH) test was performed in 57 normal volunteers and 102 patients with hypothalamic, pituitary and adrenocortical diseases. Intravenous bolus injection of synthetic hCRH, 100 micrograms for adults or 1.5 micrograms/kg for children, increased plasma ACTH and cortisol levels in about 90% of normal subjects. In 47 patients with Cushing's disease, plasma ACTH tended to show an exaggerated response to hCRH and peak ACTH was the most frequent abnormal component among the several reaction parameters. Poor responders among normal subjects and patients with Cushing's disease had significantly higher plasma cortisol levels before CRH administration. Patients with hypothalamic hypopituitarism showed exaggerated response, whereas patients with primary pituitary lesion, isolated ACTH deficiency or adrenal Cushing's syndrome showed no ACTH response. These differences in the response of patients suggest the value of the hCRH test in their differential diagnosis.  相似文献

We report the effectiveness of bromocriptine therapy in resolving the abnormal responses of plasma FSH and LH to TRH in a 70-year-old male with FSH-secreting pituitary macroadenoma who had unsuccessful transsphenoidal pituitary surgery. In the pre-treatment and post-operative periods, respectively, basal plasma levels of FSH were increased to 88.7 and 65.6 mIU/ml (normal range; 8.5-32.4) but those of plasma LH were normal being 7.0 and 4.1 mIU/ml; (normal range; 4.1 to 14.0). The responses of plasma FSH and LH to LHRH were exaggerated and their paradoxical responses to TRH were highly suggested. During the bromocriptine therapy, the basal level of plasma FSH was normalized and that of plasma LH remained normal. The magnitude of FSH and LH responses to LHRH decreased and their paradoxical responses to TRH were completely resolved.  相似文献

The role of ACTH in the control of adrenal androgen secretion is known, although the possible existence of other regulatory factors has been also suggested. While some data concerning Cushing's disease have been reported, only few studies concerned androgen levels in ectopic ACTH secretion. The aim of this study was to evaluate serum DHEA-S, androstenedione (A) and testosterone (T) levels in 36 women with ACTH-dependent Cushing's syndrome (30 with Cushing's disease and 6 with ectopic ACTH secretion) before and after surgery. Two men with ectopic ACTH production were also studied. In 30 women with Cushing's disease serum DHEA-S (9.6 +/- 0.9 micromol/l), A (15.2 +/- 1.2 nmol/l) and T (4.1 +/- 0.5 nmol/l) were higher than in controls (p < 0.01): elevated DHEA-S, A and T values were found in 8, 18 and 17 cases, respectively. After adenomectomy in 15 apparently cured patients DHEA-S, A and T levels were low at 1 - 3 months and at 6 - 12 months after surgery. At 18 - 24 months, DHEA-S remained low in spite of cortisol normalisation. In ectopic Cushing's syndrome, A levels were significantly higher (23.1 +/- 4.9 nmol/l) than in Cushing's disease (p < 0.05), while no differences were found in DHEA-S and T levels. Two patients had elevated DHEA-S values, 3 women had high T levels and 7 of the 8 patients had very high A concentration that was lowered in 3 operated cases. In conclusion, the pattern of adrenal androgen secretion is rather different in patients with pituitary or with ectopic Cushing's syndrome. While the frequency of DHEA-S and T alterations is similar, androstenedione secretion is greatly increased in the latter condition. It is suggested that in ACTH-secreting non-pituitary tumours, the production of a POMC-derived peptide, although unidentified, may lead to preferentially stimulated androstenedione secretion, without affecting other enzymatic pathways.  相似文献

A TRH test was performed in patients with Cushing's syndrome and isolated ACTH deficiency, and serum TSH was measured. A TRH-induced TSH showed low response in patients with Cushing's syndrome but showed excessive response in patients with isolated ACTH deficiency. However, in both diseases TRH-induced TSH response showed a tendency to normalize after the treatment. Urinary 17-OHCS excretion was measured in patients with Cushing's syndrome and isolated ACTH deficiency before and after the treatment. There was a definite inverse correlation between ;the logarithm for urinary 17-OHCS excretion and the peak TSH response to TRH. These results suggested that glucocorticoids regulate not only ACTH but also TSH secretion.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: There are limited data regarding the role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in arterial hypertension. The aim of the study was to determine some markers of vascular function, including VEGF, active renin and prostaglandin E (2) (PGE (2)) in patients with endocrine hypertension resulting from Cushing's syndrome. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study comprised 32 patients with active Cushing's syndrome, 22 patients with essential hypertension, and 24 healthy volunteers. RESULTS: VEGF was significantly elevated in the groups of patients compared to controls. VEGF levels in the patients with Cushing's syndrome were significantly higher than in patients with essential hypertension. We did not find significant differences in VEGF levels between patients with Cushing's disease and Cushing's syndrome due to adrenal tumor. Active renin and PGE (2) levels did not differ significantly among groups. CONCLUSION: VEGF levels were significantly elevated in endocrine hypertension due to glucocorticoid excess. Higher VEGF levels were detected in patients with Cushing's syndrome compared to patients with essential hypertension. Based on our results, we could not judge the extent to which this VEGF elevation in the patients with Cushing's syndrome was due to the hypertension itself and/or to the presence of adrenal tumor/hyperplasia.  相似文献

The effect of bombesin (5 ng/kg/min X 2.5 h) on basal pituitary secretion as well as on the response to thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH; 200 micrograms) plus luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH; 100 micrograms) was studied in healthy male volunteers. The peptide did not change the basal level of growth hormone (GH), prolactin, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). On the contrary, the pituitary response to releasing hormones was modified by bombesin administration. When compared with control (saline) values, prolactin and TSH levels after TRH were lower during bombesin infusion, whereas LH and FSH levels after LHRH were higher. Thus bombesin affects in man, as in experimental animals, the secretion of some pituitary hormones.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The distinction between Cushing's disease (Cushing's syndrome dependent on adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-secreting tumors of pituitary origin) and pseudo-Cushing's states (Cushingoid features and hypercortisolism sometimes present in alcoholic, depressed or obese subjects) can present a diagnostic challenge in clinical endocrinology. Recently, the availability of a highly sensitive immunofluorometric assay for the measurement of total prostate-specific antigen (PSA) provided the possibility to measure serum PSA levels in women. Interestingly, PSA gene expression and protein production has been found to be upregulated by steroid hormones, such as androgens, glucocorticoids, mineral corticoids and progestins. In fact, serum total PSA concentrations appear to be higher in female patients with Cushing's disease than in normal women. We wondered whether a similar phenomenon also occurs in pseudo-Cushing's state. METHODS: In order to answer this question, we compared the serum total PSA levels measured in 10 female subjects with alcohol-dependent pseudo-Cushing's state with those observed in 8 female patients with Cushing's disease and in 15 age-matched healthy women. Serum testosterone, ACTH and cortisol, and 24-hour urinary cortisol levels were measured; cortisol suppression after dexamethasone was also tested in all subjects. RESULTS: The basal serum levels of ACTH and cortisol were significantly lower in normal subjects than in patients with Cushing's disease or pseudo-Cushing's state; these latter groups showed similar basal hormonal values. Dexamethasone administration was unable to suppress serum cortisol levels in 5 subjects with Cushing's disease and 6 subjects with pseudo-Cushing's state. Serum testosterone values in the group with Cushing's disease were higher than in the other groups. No differences were observed between pseudo-Cushing's and normal subjects. Serum total PSA levels were significantly higher in women with Cushing's disease than in subjects with pseudo-Cushing's state and normal controls; these latter groups showed similar PSA values. When serum total PSA and testosterone levels were considered together, a significant positive correlation was observed in the group with Cushing's disease, but not in the other groups. CONCLUSIONS: These data indicate that the steroid milieu responsible for the elevation in serum PSA in women with Cushing's disease is not present in subjects with alcohol-dependent pseudo-Cushing's state, suggesting the possible use of PSA as a marker of differentiation between these pathological conditions in women.  相似文献

Hypothalamic thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) stimulates thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) secretion from the anterior pituitary. TSH then initiates thyroid hormone (TH) synthesis and release from the thyroid gland. Although opposing TRH and TH inputs regulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis, TH negative feedback is thought to be the primary regulator. This hypothesis, however, has yet to be proven in vivo. To elucidate the relative importance of TRH and TH in regulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis, we have generated mice that lack either TRH, the beta isoforms of TH receptors (TRbeta KO), or both (double KO). TRbeta knock-out (KO) mice have significantly higher TH and TSH levels compared with wild-type mice, in contrast to double KO mice, which have reduced TH and TSH levels. Unexpectedly, hypothyroid double KO mice also failed to mount a significant rise in serum TSH levels, and pituitary TSH immunostaining was markedly reduced compared with all other hypothyroid mouse genotypes. This impaired TSH response, however, was not due to a reduced number of pituitary thyrotrophs because thyrotroph cell number, as assessed by counting TSH immunopositive cells, was restored after chronic TRH treatment. Thus, TRH is absolutely required for both TSH and TH synthesis but is not necessary for thyrotroph cell development.  相似文献

Neuropeptide Y (NPY) has been recently localized in several hypothalamic nuclei in the mammalian brain. In order to investigate the possible role of NPY on neuroendocrine function, we have investigated the effects of the peptide on the release of anterior pituitary hormones in the rat. Both intravenous (300 μg) or intraventricular (2 to 15 μg) injection of NPY produced in gonadectomized male rats a significant and long-lasting decrease of plasma LH levels. A short duration stimulating effect on prolactin plasma levels was also observed after the intravenous but not after the intraventricular injection of NPY. Plasma levels of the other pituitary hormones were not significantly modified after NPY injection. When incubated in vitro with anterior pituitary cells in monolayer culture, NPY produced no significant change in release of pituitary hormones. Thus NPY seems to exert a selective effect on LH release. Since this effect can be observed after both intravenous and intraventricular injection, it might be hypothesized that NPY could affect LHRH release in two areas which lack blood-brain barrier: the organum vasculosum of the lamina terminalis (OVLT) which contains LHRH cell bodies and NPY fibers and the median eminence which contains both LHRH and NPY fibers. The effect on prolactin release needs to be carefully evaluated in different experimental conditions.  相似文献

Leydig cell function is driven by LH, secreted in a pulsatile manner by the anterior pituitary in response to episodic discharge of hypothalamic LHRH into the pituitary portal circulation, under control of a yet to be defined neural mechanism, the "hypothalamic LHRH pulse generator". The normal aging process in elderly men is accompanied by a decline in Leydig cell function. Whereas primary testicular factors undoubtedly play an important role in the decrease of circulating (free) testosterone levels with age, recent studies demonstrated that aging also affects the central compartment of the neuroendocrine cascade. Hypothalamic alterations comprise changes in the regulation of the frequency of the LHRH pulse generator with an inappropriately low frequency relative to the prevailing androgen impregnation and opioid tone, and with an increased sensitivity to retardation of the LHRH pulse generator by androgens. As observed by some authors in basal conditions and by others after endocrine manipulations. LH pulse amplitude seems also to be reduced in elderly men as compared to young subjects. This is most probably the consequence of a reduction in the amount of LHRH released by the hypothalamus. Indeed, challenge of the gonadotropes with low, close to physiological doses of LHRH in young and elderly men reveals no alterations in pituitary responsiveness when looking at either the response for immunoreactive LH or bioactive LH. Deconvolution analysis on data obtained after low-dose LHRH suggests a markedly prolonged plasma half-life of LH in elderly men, a finding which may explain the paradoxical increase of mean LH levels in face of the reduced or unchanged frequency and amplitude of LH pulses.  相似文献

We have assessed the gonadotropin, TSH and PRL responses to the non aromatizable androgens, mesterolone and fluoxymestrone, in 27 patients with primary testicular failure. All patients were given a bolus of LHRH (100 micrograms) and TRH (200 micrograms) at zero time. Nine subjects received a further bolus of TRH at 30 mins. The latter were then given mesterolone 150 mg daily for 6 weeks. The remaining subjects received fluoxymesterone 5 mg daily for 4 weeks and 10 mg daily for 2 weeks. On the last day of the androgen administration, the subjects were re-challenged with LHRH and TRH according to the identical protocol. When compared to controls, the patients had normal circulating levels of testosterone, estradiol, PRL and thyroid hormones. However, basal LH, FSH and TSH levels, as well as gonadotropin responses to LHRH and TSH and PRL responses to TRH, were increased. Mesterolone administration produced no changes in steroids, thyroid hormones, gonadotropins nor PRL. There was, however, a reduction in the integrated and incremental TSH secretion after TRH. Fluoxymesterone administration was accompanied by a reduction in thyroid binding globulin (with associated decreases in T3 and increases in T3 resin uptake). The free T4 index was unaltered, which implies that thyroid function was unchanged. In addition, during fluoxymesterone administration, there was a reduction in testosterone, gonadotropins and LH response to LHRH. Basal TSH did not vary, but there was a reduction in the peak and integrated TSH response to TRH. PRL levels were unaltered during fluoxymesterone treatment.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献
