The Paranoplocephla arctica complex (Cyclophyllidea, Anoplocephalidae), host-specific cestodes of collared lemmings Dicrostonyx, include two morphospecies P. arctica and P. alternata, whose taxonomical status now must be considered ambiguous. The genetic population structure and phylogeography of the P. arctica complex was studied from 83 individuals sampled throughout the Holarctic distribution range using 600 bp of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene (COI). The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) phylogeny divides the species complex into one main Nearctic and one main Palaearctic phylogroup, corresponding to the main phylogenetic division of the hosts. In the Palearctic phylogroup, the parasite clades correspond to the host clades although the parasites from Wrangel Island form an exception as the host on this island, D. groenlandicus, belongs to the Nearctic phylogroup. In the Nearctic, northern refugia beyond the ice limit of the Pleistocene glaciations are proposed for the hosts. All reconstructions of parasite phylogeny show a genetically differentiated population structure that in the Canadian Arctic lacks strict congruence between phylogeny and geography. The parasite phylogeny does not show complete congruence with host relationships, suggesting a history of colonization and secondary patterns of dispersal from Beringia into the Canadian Arctic, an event not proposed by the host phylogenies alone.  相似文献

DNA sequences of ITS-1 and ITS-2 of rDNA were determined for 16 individual adult males each of Ostertagia gruehneri and Ostertagia arctica from Svalbard reindeer (Rangifer tarandus platyrhynchus) and Eurasian tundra reindeer (R. t. tarandus). Each ITS was virtually identical in O. gruehneri and O. arctica and the three mixed bases detected were shared by both species. Our results strongly suggest that O. gruehneri and O. arctica are dimorphic males of the same species.  相似文献

The organ of Bellonci (oB) in Boreomysis arctica (Krøyer) is described. The fine structure of the organ is found to agree with that of the oB among other investigated peracarideans. The difficulties met by Chaigneau in 1971 when homologizing the organs in B. arctica and in the Isopoda have been eliminated. Into the cavity of the oB, (probably) sensory neurones protrude. The perikarya of the neurones are found in the wall of the oB. On the dendrites there are subterminal dendritic swellings from which dendritic branches and cilia arise. The branching dendrites are characteristic of the oB in B. arctica. Also the cilia branch, thus increasing the amount of sensory membranes in the organ.  相似文献

Andrya arctica is a cestode parasite of the family Anoplocephalidae (Cyclophyllidea), parasitizing lemmings of the genus Dicrostonyx throughout the Holarctic region. The population structure of this intestinal parasite was studied from eight different regions, six of which represented different genetic entities of lemming hosts. Molecular sequence tagged site markers and minisatellite fingerprints as well as morphology and morphometries were used to reveal the population structure of A. arctica in the Holarctic region. The results suggest that the evolutionary history of this cestode species has included different processes acting on different geographical regions. On the Siberian mainland (host D. torquatus), the division of the parasites into different genetic entities agreed perfectly with the chromosomal races of the lemming hosts that points towards a shared evolutionary history between the host and the parasite ('cospeciation'). The main phylogenetic split of Dicrostonyx between Eurasia and North America was not, however, observed in A. arctica. This suggests that in the Nearctic (host D. groenlandicus) the parasite has remained relatively unmodified because of the large cohesive populations ('coadaptation'). The uniqueness of the Greenland population, and possibly also that of the Wrangel Island, can be explained by peripheral isolation, refugial effects or founder effects.  相似文献

Chemical- plant defences as mechanisms affecting herbivore populations have been debated during the past decade. Several authors have questioned the hypothesis, but the present study shows that collared lemmings ( Dicrostonyx groenlandicus) in northeast Greenland prefer food plants with a lower catechin content. Dicrostonyx species are known to have specialised on shrubs, especially Dryas spp. and Salix spp., rather than graminoids like other related microtines. Bioassays were conducted using food material from Dryas spp., Salix arctica, Vaccinium uliginosum, Kobresia myosuroides and Poa glauca. Enclosures with the first three species mentioned were further treated by clipping to simulate herbivory in order to induce the production of the plant defence compound catechin. Treatment increased the catechin content in Dryas spp., S. arctica (females only) and V. uliginosum significantly compared with the catechin concentration in untreated plants. These elevated catechin concentrations had a significantly negative effect on the consumption rate of Dryas spp. and female S. arctica by collared lemmings.  相似文献

In two bog-dwelling dragonflies, Somatochlora alpestris and S. arctica , the influence of oviposition date and temperature upon duration of embryonic development was studied. Egg diapause was facultative. With advancing season, the proportion of diapause eggs increases from 0 to 37% in S. alpestris and from 0 to 18% in S. arctica. Eggs needed at least 17 to 38 days for development. Hatching curves were temperature-independent in nearly all experiments but developmental rate increased at higher ambient temperature. In S. arctica , responses of developmental rate to temperature differed in eggs laid on different dates. In S. alpestris , duration of egg development decreased as season progressed. The duration of egg development of non-diapause eggs and proportion of diapause eggs in S. alpestris and possibly in S. arctica may also both be a function of female age at the time of oviposition. The ecological significance of the different development patterns is discussed.  相似文献

Metahuntemannia triarticulata sp.n., M. arctica sp.n. and M. bifida sp.n. arc described. M. triurficulata and M. arctica belong to the 'spinosa' group within the genus Metahuntemannia Smirnov. From the closely related species, M. triarticulata differs in the possession of 3-segmented Enp P3, M. arctica in the segmentation of the Al, and both new species in the setation of their swimming legs P1–P5. M. hifida belongs to the 'talpa' group within Metahuntemannia and differs from the closely related species in the setation of the swimming legs P2–P4. The species relationships and the phylogeny within the genus are discussed. All species were collected at the Iceland-Faroe Ridge from depths between 435 and 2500 m.  相似文献

本文对白洋淀和太湖地区鸟类绦虫区系进行了比较研究,并对太湖鸟类绦虫区系作了初步分析。结果表明,鸟类绦虫区系分布与宿主区系分布密切相关,亲缘关系相近的宿主有许多相同的或亲缘相近的绦虫,这种现象为研究宿主与寄生虫的演化提供了可靠途径;发现鸟的越冬地绦虫种类比迁徙地种类丰富,分析其原因,除温、湿度、中间宿主等生态条件之外,与鸟的迁徙有一定关系。太湖地区的绦虫具有北方型和随遇型,亦有世界性种类和东半球广布种,提出了两地区家禽和野生鸟类所寄生的共同种类的绦虫。  相似文献

Molecular phylogenetic analyses have recently shown that the unicellular amoeboid protist Capsaspora owczarzaki is unlikely to be a nucleariid or an ichthyosporean as previously described, but is more closely related to Metazoa, Choanoflagellata, and Ichthyosporea. However, the specific phylogenetic relationship of Capsaspora to other protist opisthokont lineages was poorly resolved. To test these earlier results we have expanded both the taxonomic sampling and the number of genes from opisthokont unicellular lineages. We have sequenced the protein-coding genes elongation factor 1-alpha (EF1-alpha) and heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) from C. owczarzaki and the ichthyosporean Sphaeroforma arctica. Our maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian analyses of a concatenated alignment of EF1-alpha, Hsp70, and actin protein sequences with a better sampling of opisthokont-related protist lineages indicate that C. owczarzaki is not clearly allied with any of the unicellular opisthokonts, but represents an independent unicellular lineage closely related to animals and choanoflagellates. Moreover, we have found that the ichthyosporean S. arctica possesses an EF-like (EFL) gene copy instead of the canonical EF1-alpha, the first so far described in an ichthyosporean. A maximum likelihood phylogenetic analysis shows that the EF-like gene of S. arctica strongly groups with the EF-like genes from choanoflagellates. Finally, to begin characterizing the Capsaspora genome, we have performed pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) analyses, which indicate that its genome has at least 12 chromosomes with a total genome size in the range of 22-25 Mb.  相似文献

The authors refer the first report in Italy of Nematodirus roscidus Railliet, 1911, Apteragia quadrispiculata Jansen, 1958 and Ostertagia drozdzi Jancev, 1977 from Dama dama. In fallow deer they found also: Trichostrongylus axei, Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Trichostrongylus vitrinus, Spiculopteragia asymmetrica, Skrjabinagia arctica, Oesophagostomum venulosum, Trichuris ovis. Trichostrongylus axei, Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Trichostrongylus vitrinus and Skrjabinagia arctica were not found before in Dama dama in Italy.  相似文献

Systematic relationships of hymenolepidid cestodes of rodents and shrews inferred from sequences of 28S ribosomal RNA. —Zoologica Scripta, 39, 631–641. This study attempts to elucidate systematic relationships of hymenolepidid cestodes of rodents (18 species), shrews (13 species) and bats (one species) using sequences of partial 28S ribosomal RNA, with special reference to the genus Rodentolepis. The main finding is the presence of four multispecies clades of hymenolepidid cestodes showing pronounced morphological variation and frequent colonizations between unrelated hosts. Neither the hymenolepidid cestodes of shrews nor rodents were monophyletic. Also, the genus Rodentolepis sensu Vaucher in Czaplinski & Vaucher (1994, Keys to the Cestode Parasites of Vertebrates. Commonwealth Agricultural Bureaux International, Cambridge) is clearly non‐monophyletic. Although rostellar morphology is obviously a key feature on specific and generic levels, on higher systematic levels it seems to be a rather poor indicator of phylogenetic affinity in hymenolepidid cestodes. The presence of clades with more than one rostellar type (armed rostellum present, rudimentary unarmed rostellum present and rostellum absent) also conflicts with the proposed subfamilial and tribal classifications of hymenolepidid cestodes. The overall evidence suggests that the recent trend of splitting hymenolepidid cestodes into multiple genera will produce a more stable and practical classification than the earlier practice of favouring a few, morphologically variable genera. New classifications of hymenolepidid cestodes should, however, consider both morphological and molecular evidence.  相似文献

The localization and structure of frontal glands of adult cestodes of 20 species from 4 orders: Caryophyllidea, Pseudophyllidea, Proteocephalidea and Cyclophyllidea were studied by light and electron microscopy. In cestodes of various orders there was evidence of differences in the ultrastructure of secretory cells, in the character of the secretion, and in the method of its discharge. The localization of glands in most adult cestodes is in the scolex. In Cyatocephalus, Ligulidae, Bothriocephalus claviceps, they are distributed also in the anterior and middle part of the body. In the species Caryophylleus (C. laticeps) and Khawia sinensis a major gland complex previously not described was discovered. The glands of the cestodes investigated may be divided into three main groups by their structure, localization and functional role in ontogenesis: (1) penetration glands in oncospheres which develop into procercoids and plerocercoids; (2) glands of plerocercoids and adult cestodes which develop in the gut; (3) gland complexes in the representatives of the order Caryophyllidea. The secretion is usually discharged at the scolex region and less frequently on the lateral surface. Three different ways of discharging secretory material from the cestodes body are described.  相似文献

The presence of organisms whose bodies have low preservation potential may be deduced by searching for the traces produced by them. The addition of predatory gastropods and soft-bodied epizoans to Quaternary marine faunas dominated by bivalves was facilitated by an examination of borings in bivalve shells. Borings attributed to predatory gastropods (ichnogenus Oichnus ) were observed in shells of Astarte spp., Hiatella arctica and Macoma calcarea. Astarte, Hiatella and Macoma were preyed upon in preference to other members of a diverse suspension-feeding bivalve community. Borings attributed to epizoans (ichnogenus Cautostrepsis ) were observed in bivalve shells (Astarte spp. Hiatella arctica ), calcareous algae and limestone clasts. Biotic interactions revealed by trace fossils are employed, for the first time, to reconstruct the trophic structure of arctic Quaternary marine benthic faunas. ▭ Arctic molluscs, palaeoecology, Oichnus, Caulostrepsis.  相似文献

Three species of dwarf, prostrate willow ( Salix arctica , S. rotundifolia and S. herbacea ) were subjected to experimental summer warming in high arctic Canada, arctic Alaska, and subarctic Sweden, respectively, as part of the International Tundra Experiment. Phenological and growth responses of these species were compared for the second season of the experiment. Stigmas became receptive and pollen dispersal occurred significantly earlier for S. rotundifolia and S. herbacea in the ITEX open-top chambers, but not for S. arctica . Warming had no effect on the timing of seed dispersal, leaf yellowing, or leaf senescence. The length and dry weight of the largest leaves were greater for warmed plants, and was significant for S. rotundifolia . The number of catkins/plot did not differ among species or treatments, but the fruit : flower ratio was reduced in the experimental plots.  相似文献

Specific features in the formation of cestode species composition in the common shrew in different biotopes have been analyzed. Four categories of parasites have been recognized depending on a degree of dominance: dominants (Neoskrjabinolepis singularis, Molluscotaenia crassiscolex), subdominants (Ditestolepis diaphana), adominants A (Staphylocystis furcata, Vigisolepis spinulosa, adominants B (Hymenolepis scutigera, Dilepis undula, D. secunda, Taenia mustelae). A significant similarity was discovered between the species diversity and the dominance characteristics of cestodes. It was found that the distribution of mass species of parasites in the host population corresponds to the gamma distribution model. In regard to cestodes examined, a hypothesis considering the spatial structure and size of territory occupied by stable parasitic system is put forward.  相似文献

The proportion of the population carrying intestinal parasites (prevalence of infection) and the mean number of parasites per host within the host population (worm burden) for 312 Greywing Francolin Fran-colinus africanus were recorded on the Stormberg Plateau, eastern Cape Province, during April 1989-De-cember 1990. Most Greywing (86%) had helminths in their small intestine or caeca. Variation in levels of helminth infection (i.e. both prevalence and burdens) was independent of host sex. Nematodes were confined to the caeca where they were present in high numbers throughout the year with two peaks during June-August and November-January. The prevalence and worm burdens of nematodes were independent of host age Nematodes were more prevalent than cestodes. The prevalence and number of cestodes in the small intestine were highest during September-February and Faked during November-December. Levels of prevalence of cestodes were significantly higher in juvenile Greywing than in adults during the austral winter (May-July). The number of cestodes was consistently, but not significantly, higher in juveniles than in adults. Greywing body mass and population density were not significantly correlated with worm burdens.  相似文献

A molecular phylogenetic hypothesis is presented for the anoplocephaline cestodes of placental mammals based on sequence data from the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) gene, the nuclear-encoded 28S rRNA gene and the internal transcribed spacer region I of rRNA (ITS1). The material consists of 35 species representing nine genera of cestodes, with emphasis on taxa parasitising rodents and lagomorphs in the Holarctic region. The resulting phylogenies show considerable disagreement with earlier systematic and phylogenetic hypotheses derived from morphology. Specifically, the results contradict the view of uterine morphology being the primary determinant of deeper phylogenetic splits within Anoplocephalinae. Also, the role of genital duplication as a means of generic divergence was not found to follow consistently the pattern suggested by earlier hypotheses. Colonisation of novel host lineages has evidently been the predominant mode of diversification in anoplocephaline cestodes of placental mammals; evidence for phyletic co-evolution was obscure. The phylogenies consistently distinguished a large monophyletic group including all species from arvicoline rodents (voles and lemmings), primarily representing the genera Anoplocephaloides Baer, 1923 and Paranoplocephala Lühe, 1910. Phylogenetic relationships within the “arvicoline clade” of cestodes were generally poorly resolved. Consistent support for nodes above and below the unresolved polytomy indicates a rapid radiation involving a nearly simultaneous diversification of many lineages, a scenario also proposed for the arvicoline hosts.  相似文献
