Detailed studies of various aspects of the morphology and reproduction ofAntithamnion subcorticatum Itono andAntithamnion crouanioides Itono show that these species are incorrectly referred to as the genusAntithamnion. To include these species, a new genus,Balliella, is proposed. In addition, some other algae possibly referable to this genus are briefly discussed. The genusBalliella is here recognized as a member of the new tribeDelesseriopsieae which is most nearly related to the tribe Antithamnieae in the Ceramiaceae. The tribe Delesseriopsieae is now recognized to include the two genera, i.e.,Delesseriopsis andBalliella.  相似文献

A comparative study of the genusTainania Masi and the genusAntrocephalus Kirby revealed that the former genus does not have sufflcient good morphological characteristics to hold the status of a separate genus from that of the genusAntrocephalus. The important morphological characterstics of the genusAntrocephalus have been given.

The new genusRhodothyrsus is proposed, based on the AmazonianSenefeldera macrophylla Ducke but also containing another newly described species,Rhodothyrsus hirsutus from northwestern Venezuela. The genus is a member of the tribe Hippomaneae of the Euphorbiaceae and apparently related toSenefeldera, but its closest relationships are still obscure, because the phylogeny of the tribe is poorly known and most of the significant characters ofRhodothyrsus are probably autapomorphies or symplesiomorphies. The restriction to tropical lowland rain forests is rare within the Hippomaneae, and several floral characters, pointing to a specialized pollination possibly by butterflies, are unique in the tribe.  相似文献

The genusKarschia, in the earlier sense, including saprophytes and parasites on lichens, has been thought to be a non-lichenized parallel genus of the lichen genusBuellia. Modern workers included it on the one hand inBuellia, on the other hand combined it with bitunicate ascomycetes. It is now proved thatKarschia is heterogeneous and contains but superficially similar members both of the genusBuellia of theLecanorales and of typical or masked bitunicateAscomycetes. Therefore, it can not be regarded as a link betweenLecanorales andDothideales. The type species ofKarschia belongs to theDothideales.

The genusRiodocea is here described from material collected in the várzea forest of the Rio Doce Valley, northern Espírito Santo.Riodocea is a monotypic genus probably related to the Amazonian endemicKutchubaea. A line drawing shows general morphology and photomicrographs show pollen morphology ofRiodocea pulcherrima. Distribution maps ofRiodocea andKutchubaea are included. The valley of the Rio Doce is here included in the Bahian Hylaea, defined as a subregion of the Brazilian Atlantic forest. The connections between the Amazonian Hylaea and the Bahian Hylaea are discussed.  相似文献

In the course of monographic work in Myrtaceae it has become evident thatEugenia prismatica cannot be accommodated within any existing genus in the family. Therefore, a new genus,Curitiba, is described to contain it and the new combinationCuritiba prismatica is made.Curitiba is diagnosed by a combination of 4-angled hypanthia and fruits, ovules radiating from a central protruding placenta, and seed coats with wavy rows of papillae. A key is provided to distinguishCuritiba from the Caribbean and Mesoamerican genusMosiera, where the species also had been placed before this transfer, and from other 4-merous genera in Brazil of subtribe Myrtinae. In the Atlantic Forest of Brazil where the family Myrtaceae is one of the most species rich and ecologically important plant families, the discovery ofCuritiba reveals a unique evolutionary lineage, highlights the endemism present in the Atlantic Forest, and underscores, the urgent need for conservation of this rapidly disappearing and highly endangered biome.  相似文献

Comparative 16S rRNA sequence analysis has demonstrated that the genusBacillus consists of at least five phyletic lines. rRNA group 3 bacilli of Ash, Farrow, Wallbanks and Collins (1991) comprisingBacillus polymyxa and close relatives is phylogenetically so removed fromBacillus subtilis, the type species of the genus and other aerobic, endospore-forming bacilli that they warrant reclassification in a new genusPaenibacillus. The genusPaenibacillus can be readily distinguished from otherBacillus groups using a battery of phenotypic characters and a highly specific gene probe based on 16S rRNA.  相似文献

Small subunit ribosomal DNA sequences of all species of the basidiomycetous anamorphic yeast genusTrichosporon were determined, and phylogenetic trees were constructed by the neighbor-joining and maximum likelihood methods. The sequence data showed that, with the exception ofT. pullulans, the genus is monophyletic, although its members have two different major ubiquinones, Q9 and Q10. The genus can be divided phylogenetically into three major clusters. Species with Q10 as the major ubiquinone constitute a single cluster, while those with Q9 form two clusters.Trichosporon pullulans was phylogenetically distinct from other taxa of the genus. It is located in a cluster containingCystofilobasidium capitatum, Mrakía frigida, Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous and three species ofUdeniomyces. This result sugests thatT. pullulans does not belong to the genusTrichosporon.  相似文献

Two new species of Nolinaceae are described and illustrated. The first is a ponytail palm,Beaucarnea compacta, occuring in xerophytic scrub in the Sierra Madre Oriental near Atarjea, Guanajuato. The second new species isCalibanus glassianus, adding the second species to the genusCalibanus. This new species is found in the transition between tropical deciduous forest to subontane scrub in the Sierra Madre Oriental near Xichú, Guanajuato.

Among the predominantly purple- and red-flowered species of the genusCuphea, only seven yellow floral tube and/or yellow-petaled members in three sections were known. We add here two new species and one new variety.Cuphea congesta from Venezuela andC. splendida var.viridiflava from Bolivia are new to sect.Melvilla.Cuphea xanthopetala from Brazil is described in sect.Euandra and expands the presence of this feature to a fourth section of the genus. A key is provided to allCuphea with yellow floral tubes and/or yellow petals to expedite determinations when these exceptional character states are present.  相似文献

The recently discoveredAzotobacter paspali has a % GC of 63.2–64.6. This value and the described physiological and biochemical features, justify its inclusion in the genusAzotobacter. Its % GC which is somewhat lower than that of the other members of this genus, and several unusual phenotypic properties, confirm its status as a separate species. Azotobacter miscellum ATCC 17962 has the same % GC value asAzotobacter vinelandii. Azotomonas insolita NCIB 8627 (58.9% GC) andAzotomonas fluorescens NCIB 9884 (64.8% GC) have peritrichous flagella. They do not belong to the genus to which they have been assigned; besides, the existence of the genusAzotomonas still remains to be ascertained. Pseudomonas azotocolligans NCIB 9391 (65.6% GC) also has peritrichous flagella. It should be removed from the genusPseudomonas. The taxonomic position of the latter three organisms is still unknown.  相似文献

On the basis of external morphology and anatomy, 17 scpeies of the genusSilurus Linnaeus including a new species,S. torrentis from Thailand and Burma, are recognized as valid.S. bedfordi Regan is synonymized withS. asotus, andS. goae Haig is transferred to the genusOmpok. From an anatomical study of 12 species, the diagnostic feature of the genusParasilurus Bleeker is revealed to be invalid, and the genus is synonymized withSilurus. From the phylogenetic analysis, the genusSilurus is divided into two major species groups, thecochinchinensis group which is disributed mainly in Southeast Asia, and theglanis group which is further separated into three subgroups occurring separately in East Asia and Europe. The pattern of distribution and relationships between ontogeny and phytogeny in the genusSilurus are briefly discussed.  相似文献

The tribe Massonieae Baker (Hyacinthaceae-Hyacinthoideae) presently consists of about 19 genera and 230 species distributed from Africa (south of the Sahara) to Madagascar and India. Based on atpB and trnL-F DNA sequences the tribe is monophyletic only when the genus Pseudoprospero is excluded from Massonieae. In most trnL-F trees, this genus occupies a basal position within subfamily Hyacinthoideae and is sister to the rest of the subfamily. Molecular data suggest that the remaining genera of Massonieae do not share common ancestry with the Eurasian/North-African tribe Hyacintheae Dumort. (Scilla, Hyacinthus and allies), and thus a narrow concept of the essentially Eurasian genus Scilla is supported. Members of well-supported clades in Massonieae usually show similarities in seed characteristics as determined by scanning electron microscopy. Phylogenetic position and seed morphology indicate that Massonia angustifolia and M. zeyheri do not belong to the genus Massonia but fall into a clade together with Daubenya, Androsiphon and Amphisiphon. The genus Whiteheadia appears paraphyletic in the 50% majority rule trnL-F tree and occupies a basal position next to Massonia. However, in the strict consensus tree neither monophyly nor polyphyly can be excluded for this genus. Seed appendages are documented for members of the genera Ledebouria and Lachenalia. Within the genera of Massonieae there is a tendency towards bending of the seed axis. This phenomenon is most obvious within the genus Lachenalia. Delimitation of genera based on seed morphology largely agrees with the results of molecular studies. Correlation between number, size and color of seeds, geographical distribution and phylogenetic position of the genera are discussed. Electronic Publication  相似文献

The genusCheirolophus has an interesting western Mediterranean and Macaronesian distribution. Here we investigate the delimitation of the genus and its exclusion from the large genusCentaurea, the systematic position of the related genusPaleocyanus, the delimitation of some species and the phylogeny of the group. We have carried out a phylogenetic analysis of the PCR-generated sequences of the internal transcribed spacers (ITS-1 and ITS-2) of the nuclear ribosomal DNA. The results suggest that the genus, includingPaleocyanus crassifolius is monophyletic; thus, a new combination of this species underCheirolophus is proposed. The Macaronesian group of species is also monophyletic, indicating a single colonization of the archipelago. The poor resolution of microspecies in the Macaronesian group reinforces the hypothesis of a very recent differentiation of the group.  相似文献

Microascus exsertus sp. nov. is described. The basic morphology of the centre of the ascoma places the fungus in the genusMicroascus and, due to the shape of the ascospores and the lack of a conidial state, closest toM. nidicolus. The relatively long persistence of the asci and especially the tardily developing but distinct ostiole covered with a few layers of the outer peridium makeM. exsertus very different from other species of the genus. The fungus was found associated with, and probably pathogenic in, the leaf-cutting bee,Megachile willughbiella. Within the genusMicroascus two sections based on some correlated characters may be distinguished.  相似文献

Summary Ascospore formation has been observed in three species of the genusBrettanomyces, viz. Brett. bruxellensis. Brett, intermedius andBrett. schanderlii. On media of adequate vitamin content these species form 1–4 hat-shaped ascospores. The spores are liberated rather soon after maturation. Heat treatment of ascogenous cultures indicated that these species are homothallic. In view of the fact that ascospore formation has been observed in the type species,Brett. bruxellensis, the transfer of the genus to theEndomycetaceae should be considered. The new genusCaucasalia is described. Four species are included, previously referred toSenecio, Cacalia, Cineraria, Pojarkovia orAdenostyles. The latter genus may be the closest relative, being similar in habit and chromosome number, but different in floret colour and style morphology. The new genus is centered in the Caucasus mountains, with extensions into Anatolia.Dedicated to emer. Univ.-Prof. DrFriedrich Ehrendorfer on the occasion of his 70th birthday  相似文献
