Morphological data were gathered from 126 herbarium specimens representing ten species of Psophocarpus. Specimens were scored for 29 vegetative, 46 inflorescence, 16 legume and six seed characters. The data were analysed using cluster analysis and ordination and the results used to produce an overall phenetic classification. The proposed classification includes a tenth species recently distinguished, but undescribed by Verdcourt. Keys are provided to the subgenera and sections, as well as the ten taxa recognized and the classification is discussed in relation to previous classifications of the genus.  相似文献

Variation of 80 multistate morphological characters and isozymes encoded by 13 loci among 23 vetch species of the type subgenus of the genus Vicia in comparison with V. dumetorum, V. pisiformis and V. sylvatica of the subgenus Cracca is described and analyzed with cladistic parsimony and phenetic neighbour-joining methods by using two different ways of coding. Morphological analyses showed the subgenus Vicia monophyletic and revealed subgroups in a general agreement with traditionally recognized sections, except showing V. faba nested within section Narbonensis and ambiguity in the position of V. lathyroides and V. bithynica. Parsimony analysis of orthozymes as presence/absence characters revealed in the subgenus two basic monophyletic clades: 1) V. faba and three species of the section Peregrinae, V. michauxii, V. aintabensis and V. peregrina, in one subclade linked with species of the Narbonensis and Hyperchusa sections together with V. pisiformis of subgenus Cracca in a second subclade; 2) species belonging to sections Vicia, Sepium, Pseudolathyrus and Lathyroides together with V. sylvatica of the subgenus Cracca. Neighbour-joining analysis of orthozymes revealed the same two basic groups, differing only in the relative position of some species in subclusters. Both isozyme analyses showed paraphyly of the subgenera Vicia and Cracca. Parsimony analysis of orthozymes as character states of isozymes yielded a largely unresolved strict consensus cladogram of 209 most parsimonious trees, and reweighting of characters failed to produce a stable tree. Phylogenetic congruence and discordance among morphological and isozyme analyses, coding ways, homoplasy and weighting of characters are discussed. On the basis of the study of the original material used by Planchon, the typification previously made by other authors is discussed, and an interpretation of the U. minor-galli group is presented. We conclude that the name U. galli must continue in use in its traditional sense, and, therefore, U. cantabricus Alvarez Martínez el al. must become a mere synonym. The new combinations U. breoganii (Castroviejo & Valdés-Bermejo) Castroviejo & Valdés-Bermejo, stat. nov. and U. minor subsp. gallii (Planchon) Castroviejo & Valdés-Bermejo, comb. nov. are proposed.  相似文献

A survey of morphological, anatomical, karyological and chemical characters has been carried out, centred on the Vicieae but extending to the neighbouring tribes Trifolieae and Ononideae. The results show that Cicer , traditionally a member of the Vicieae, has more in common with genera of the Trifolieae and Ononideae than with the rest of the Vicieae. It is proposed that Cicer should be removed from the Vicieae and recognized as the monogeneric tribe Cicereae Alef. The tribe Vicieae sensu stricto, a well-defined natural group, is delimited and described. Phylogenetic relationships of the Cicereae are discussed.  相似文献

Vicia ser. Vicia, which includes the Vicia sativa aggregate, was studied by observing morphological variation. The study is an attempt to resolve the taxonomic relationships within the Vicia sativa aggregate by novel investigations along with a synthesis of the results obtained by previous researchers. The study has included some accessions and characters used previously, but has drawn accessions from a wider geographical range than has been attempted previously. Cluster analysis on the basis of 53 morphological characters justified the delimitation of four species within the series and six subspecies within the Vicia sativa aggregate. Accessions from South Asia could easily be incorporated in the classification, but some of the accessions from North Africa showed morphological differences. The morphometric data were coded using the gap weighting method of Thiele (1993) and used in a phylogenetic analysis to study the relationships between the taxa. The phylogenetic analysis, using 33 variables, showed Vicia pyrenaica closely related to Vicia sativa subsp. amphicarpa. A dichotomous key and a multi-access key to aid the identification of the taxa in the series are presented. A new species, Astragalus himachalensis , is described and illustrated from the Himalaya in India. The species grows occasionally in different parts of the cold desert of Lahul-Spiti (Himachal Pradesh). It resembles A. himalayanus , but differs chiefly in the small size of the plants (length, 5–15 cm), diadelphous stamens, and small pods (length, 5–6 mm) with the stipe length (2–3 mm) more or less equal to the calyx length. The similarities and significant differences between A. himachalensis and A. himalayanus were confirmed by analyses of random amplification of polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and directed amplification of minisatellite DNA (DAMD) markers. RAPD and DAMD methods clearly distinguished between the two species and were in congruence with morphological markers. © 2007 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2007, 154 , 27–34.  相似文献

The pollen morphology of 32 species of the genus Vicia was studied using scanning and transmission electron microscope (SEM and TEM). The interstitia of the pollen of the examined species were found to be either regular columellate, irregular columellate, or granular. The granular pattern was recognized to be apomorphy against the columellate patterns in the tribe Vicieae by comparison with the pollen in the tribes Vicieae, Cicereae, Galegeae, Hedysareae, and Trifolieae. The group of Vicia species having the apomorphy was congruent with that having a known apomorphy of the pistil character. This group with such synapomorphies may be monophyletic, though it is treated as polyphyletic in the present infrageneric system of Vicia.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The hypothesis that Lathyrus plitmannii may be of hybrid origin was tested on a morphological data set, derived from measurements of 50 herbarium specimens, by employing the computer program HYWIN. Results showed that all the specimens of L. plitmannii were putative hybrids and that the highest ranked pair of specimens that best matches the morphologies of its parents was L. gorgonei and L. pseudocicera. Examination of the distribution patterns of the three species shows that L. plitmannii is confined to regions common to both putative parents and that hybrids could be formed, assuming that genetic barriers were overcome. Additional supporting evidence includes overlaps in the edaphic requirements and the habitats of the three species. Lathyrus plitmannii is recognised as a distinct species that should be regarded as derivative of hybridisation between L. gorgonei and L. pseudocicera.  相似文献

Lens montbretii has a diploid chromosome number of In – 12 whereas the remainder of the genus has 2n= 14. In addition there are marked karyotype differences. These, combined with morphological characteristics which distinguish it from other species of Lens , are considered to be an adequate basis for the returning of the taxon to the genus Vicia as V. montbretii Fisch. & Mey.  相似文献

In this study, the pollen morphology of 11 taxa belonging to Atossa (Alef.) Asch. & Graebner, Hypechusa (Alef.) Asch. & Graebner, Peregrinae Kupicha, Wiggersia (Alef.) Maxted, Vicia L. and Narbonensis (Radzhi) Maxted sections of the genus Vicia L. subgenus Vicia (Fabeae, Fabaceae) naturally growing in Turkey has been studied using Light Microscopy (LM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to evaluate the taxonomic relevance of pollen characters. Twelve morphometric characters are analysed with one-way analysis of variance and Tukey’s honestly significant difference test for multiple comparisons. Of the taxa studied V. narbonensis var. narbonensis (sect. Narbonensis) has the largest pollen grains (P = 51.98 μm × E = 30.52 μm) and V. lathyroides (sect. Wiggersia) has the smallest pollen grains (P = 27.71 μm × E = 20.14 μm). The pollen grains are subprolate to perprolate (P/E = 1.16–2.11), but the prolate shape occurs in the majority of the taxa. The regular pollen grains of all taxa are trizonocolporate, isopolar, and released in monads. Ornamentation of the mesocolpium is psilate-perforate in V. lathyroides (sect. Wiggersia), reticulate-rugulate in V. narbonensis var. narbonensis (sect. Narbonensis), (micro)reticulate in V. sericocarpa var. sericocarpa (sect. Hypechusa), V. sativa subsp. sativa (sect. Vicia) and V. grandiflora var. grandiflora (sect. Vicia), and reticulate-perforate in the remaining taxa. The apocolpium and colpus area are psilate or perforate in all taxa except V. sericocarpa var. sericocarpa (sect. Hypechusa) and V. sativa subsp. sativa (sect. Vicia), which exhibit the obscurely reticulate-perforate pattern. Several palynological features have taxonomic importance in sectional level: polar axis, equatorial diameter, pollen shape (P/E ratio), colpus length, colpus width, size of pori, porus length/width ratio, lumina diameter, muri thickness and ornamentation. The results also indicate that pollen characters can be useful in distinguishing the examined taxa.  相似文献

The genus Bosmina can be differentiated into four subgenera: 1. Bosmina s. str. BAIRD , 1845, 2. Eubosmina SELIGO , 1900, 3. Neobosmina LIEDER , 1957, and 4. Sinobosmina LIEDER , 1957. Subgeneric discrimination is based upon several features of the females (postabdominal claw, serration of the mucro, patterns of the lateral head pores) and, mainly, upon certain differences in the morphology of the male (postabdomen and, according to LILLJEBORG 1900, BURCKHARDT 1924 and KOŘINEK 1971, the first leg). The distribution of the Bosmina subgenera throughout the world varies: Bosmina s. str. is distributed worldwide (except for Australia?), Eubosmina is holarctic, Neobosmina has been found in Africa, the neotropical zone, Australia and Oceania, and Sinobosmina occurs in East and South-East Asia.  相似文献

Desmodium diversity has been mainly classified using fruit characters, and because of variability in these and other characters, the taxonomy has sometimes been problematic and thus, there is a need for clarification and taxonomic reassessments. This is the case for the Desmodium procumbens group, where several infraspecific taxa have been named. The phylogenetic relationships among taxa referred to this group is unknown, and the taxonomic status has been recently revised only for some of the taxa. In this study, pollen morphology and ultrastructure of D. neomexicanum, D. procumbens var. procumbens, D. procumbens var. exiguum, D. procumbens var. longipes and D. procumbens var. transversum, belonging to the Mexican Desmodium procumbens group, were examined using light, phase-contrast, scanning electron and transmission electron microscopy, in order to establish palynological characters that might contribute to a better taxonomic resolution. Pollen grains are tricolporate, radiosymmetric, oblate spheroidal to prolate spheroidal shape, with lalongate endoapertures and rugulate exine with foveolae between rugulae. The exine is tectate with a columellate and/or granulate structure. The absence of a fastigium, features of exine sculpture, a colpus membrane and infrastructure mainly dominated by granules differentiate the pollen grains of the varieties exiguum and transversum from the other taxa studied. Pollen traits and sequence data provide evidence for separating D. neomexicanum from species D. procumbens. In general, the result from the pollen analysis is congruent with results obtained from a preliminary molecular analysis of this group.  相似文献

A contribution to the knowledge of Tylosema (Schweinf.) Torre & Hillc. is presented. The main objectives of this revision were: (1) to elucidate the taxonomic position of the specimens collected in south Angola, (2) to provide a review of species boundaries in the genus, especially between T. fassoglense (Schweinf.) Torre & Hillc. and T. esculentum (Burch.) A.Schreib. and (3) to evaluate the contribution of pollen morphology for delimitation of the species in this genus. Numerical analyses were performed based on morphometric data taken from herbarium specimens. Principal component analysis and cluster analysis divided specimens of Tylosema into four major groups, corresponding to three recognized species and a new taxon. A new micromorphometric character (swollen base of hairs) was found that further contributes to the distinction of T. humifusum (Pic.Serm. & Roti Mich.) Brenan from other species. A new species, T. angolense P. Silveira & S. Castro sp. nov. , is described and illustrated. A taxonomic key and distribution map of studied taxa is also provided. The analyses of pollen morphology allowed for the distinction of the taxonomic groups.  © 2005 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2005, 147 , 99–115.  相似文献
