In this report we describe the three species in Lepiota sect. Lepiota occurring in tropical China. Lepiota attenuata is a new species and is characterized by a pileus with brownish yellow squamules and radially sulcate striate margin, penguin-shaped spores that are distinctively narrowed toward the apex and inflated submoniliform or catenulate elements in the pileus covering. We compared the type specimens of L. metulispora and L. thrombophora with tropical Chinese specimens; both taxa occur in the study area. Phylogenetic relationships among the tropical Chinese species and other closely related species in the genus were inferred based on DNA sequences of the nuclear ribosomal genes (ITS, LSU and IGS) and the mitochondrial small ribosomal RNA gene (mtSSU).  相似文献

A new species of Lepiota, L. vellingana, is described and illustrated from Lahore, Pakistan. It is characterized by a campanulate to plano-convex, slightly umbonate, white pileus covered with pinkish brown scales, crowded lamellae, guttulate basidiospores, long trichodermial stipe elements, and long trichodermial pileal elements.  相似文献

A new coagulase-negative species of the genus Staphylococcus, Staphylococcus muscae, is described on the basis of the results of a study of four strains that were isolated from flies. 16S rRNA sequences of the type strains of S. muscae, Staphylococcus schleiferi, and Staphylococcus sciuri were determined and used, together with the corresponding sequences of Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis, for a comparative analysis. The new species is characterized taxonomically; this species is differentiated from the other novobiocin-susceptible staphylococci by its physiological and biochemical activities, cell wall composition, and levels of genetic relatedness. The type strain of this species is strain MB4 (= CCM 4175).  相似文献

The genus Giardia has been subdivided by Filice (1952) into 3 species, G. agilis, G. muris, and G. duodenalis, based on the morphology of the median body and subtle variations in the dimensions of trophozoites. Giardia trophozoites were isolated from the small intestine of budgerigars (parakeets) and examined morphologically with light and scanning electron microscopy. These trophozoites, like other Giardia spp., possessed a flattened dorso-ventral shape, 8 flagella, and an adhesive disc on the ventral surface. The presence of a claw hammer-shaped median body suggested classification of these trophozoites as G. duodenalis. However, unlike any known members of G. duodenalis, the Giardia trophozoites from budgerigars were morphologically distinct in that they lacked the ventrolateral flange and therefore did not have a marginal groove bordering the anterior and lateral border of the adhesive disc. This distinct morphology clearly indicated that trophozoites from budgerigars should be considered as a separate species, G. psittaci. Our evidence has demonstrated that median body shape cannot serve as a sole criterion for speciation of Giardia. In addition, if other avian species of Giardia also resemble G. psittaci, then this would suggest that evolutionary divergence has occurred in the genus Giardia.  相似文献

Abstract. The New World rogadine genus Stiropius Cameron is revised for the Nearctic region and a new related genus from the Americas, Viridipyge , is decribed. Bucculatriplex Viereck is found to be a junior subjective synonym of Stiropius Cameron. Three Nearctic species are recognized: S.bucculatricis (Ashmead) comb.n., S.californicus sp.n. and S.wagneri sp.n. A single Nearctic specis of Viridipyge is described as new: V.prunicola , and a Neotropical species, V.letifer (Mann) comb.n., is found to be congeneric. The biology and systematic relationships of both genera are discussed; the two genera appear to represent a relatively basal branch of the Rogadini lineage.  相似文献

Pythium identification is based on several characteristics with considerable variation, particularly in Pythium irregulare Buis. as currently recognized. Thirty-one isolates of Pythium irregulare Buis. from various hosts and geographic regions were compared by genetic analysis of multiloci DNA fingerprints, sequence analysis of nuclear and mitochondrial genes and morphological and growth rate studies. Previous research indicated two distinct groupings within the species, P. irregulare sensu stricto and a clade referred to here as Pythium sp. Parsimony analyses of 338 AFLP markers divided P. irregulare s.l. into two clades. Comparison of the allele frequencies of 236 polymorphic AFLP loci revealed significant differences between them. The two clades differed in the frequencies of 182 (77%) alleles. P. irregulare s.s. had 122 (52%) polymorphic loci while Pythium sp. had 205 (87%). Pythium sp. had one fixed allele and 79 polymorphic loci absent in P. irregulare s.s. P. irregulare s.s. displayed 16 polymorphic loci absent in Pythium sp. Parsimony and distance analyses of the ribosomal intergenic transcribed spacers (ITS) and the cox II gene sequences support the separation of P. irregulare s.s. and Pythium sp. Amplicon length in P. irregulare s.s. ITS sequences were 936-938 bp and 936-949 bp in Pythium sp. The two clades were separated by two fixed insertion/deletion mutations, nine fixed nucleotide substitutions in the ITS region and three fixed single nucleotide substitutions in the cox II sequences. Average growth rates of the groups differed at 10, 30 and 36 C but not at 15, 21 or 25 C. Statistically significant differences were found in oogonium, oospore and ooplast diameters, antheridial cell length and in ooplast index. We propose that a new species, Pythium cryptoirregulare, be delineated from Pythium irregulare sensu stricto.  相似文献

Cladonia (sect. Cocciferae , subsect. Ochroleucae) norvegica T0nsb. & Holien sp. nov., is closely related to C. bacilliformis (Nyl.) DT. & Sarnth. but is morphologically, chemically, and ecologically distinct. Superficially it may resemble C. (sect. Cladonia) coniocraea auct., which is often growing with it. Four new species and one new combination ofAdenia are presented, along with a vegetative key and diagnostic characters of the Madagascan species. Additional notes are provided about unusual specimens and field observations.Adenia kigogoensis from Tanzania is shown to be distinct fromA. stenodactyla (its putative closest relative) andA. digitata based on anther connation and other floral traits. The remaining new taxa are from Madagascar.Adenia litoralis has been observed from one coastal locality in northern Madagascar. It is distinctive in fruit size and leaf form.Adenia metamorpha is the only Madagascan taxon with a narrow cylindrical trunk and large napiform tuber; it is also known from only one locality in Madagascar in the Ankarana Reserve.Adenia mcdadiana is a robust liana with highly reduced glands and leaves that appear to be neotenic compared to its closest putative relative,A. sphaerocarpa. Finally, the position ofA. stylosa has been clarified. This species was once treated asA. firingalavensis var.stylosa, and prior to that asA. epigea var.stylosa, but molecular and morphological data suggest it is separate from these species.  相似文献

Conclusions In stable manure, leafmold and soils (especially those with a high content of organic material) agar decomposing bacilli are relatively common. Different types of these organisms were isolated, the type described asBacillus agar-exedens being the one most frequently met. The occurrence of these bacteria in materials with a high content of organic matter suggests the presence in these materials of higher organic compounds, especially apt for their nutrition.  相似文献

Humans and animals are infected worldwide by apicomplexan parasites of the genus Cryptosporidium. Yet, parasitologists are continuously surprised by the expanding complexity of this genus. Over the past 20 years, cattle were identified as being a reservoir host for taxa transmitted from animals to humans. However, a remarkable assemblage of species affects cattle, including both cattle-specific, in addition to a zoonotic, species. To clarify species classification, Cryptosporidium pestis n. sp. is proposed for the species formerly recognized as the "bovine genotype" of C. parvum. The observed increasing complexity of Cryptosporidium species, along with recent advances in knowledge, should be reconsidered in the context of past records, and not vice versa. In this way, the gaps in our understanding of Cryptosporidium species can be identified and addressed in a scientific manner.  相似文献

Comprehensive studies on the haematology, urine chemistry, serum chemistry and gross pathology have been carried out and reported. Seasonal weight changes were confirmed and were initiated, together with sexual activity, when ferrets were brought in to a constant temperature (18-19 degrees C) and 14-hour daylight cycle during the winter months. Levels of haemoglobin, erythrocytes and haematocrit were higher than in most common laboratory species. Similarly, serum electrolytes and glucose levels were higher than in Wistar rats or beagle dogs. Ovaries, uteri and testes displayed a seasonal maturation and atrophy. All other parameters were similar to common laboratory species.  相似文献
