A new genus and a new species of tachinids (Diptera, Tachinidae) from deserts of middle Asia

Cucuba gen. n. is described with the type species Cucuba arenicola sp. n. The wide frons, elongate 1st flagellomere with elongate 1st and 2nd aristomeres, reclinate inner vertical bristle, bare prosternum, propleura and katepimeron (barette), scutellum with strong, long subapical and short apical bristles, hind tibiae with a strong and long posteroventral bristle indicate that the new genus belongs to the tribe Triarthriini of the subfamily Tachininae. Characters distinguishing Cucuba gen. n. from known Palaearctic genera of Triarthriini are given.     

A new genus and a new species of tachinids (Diptera,Tachinidae) from Wrangel Island

Aesia gen. n. with the type species Aesia acerbiana sp. n. is described from Wrangel Island. The new genus belongs to the tribe Blondeliini (as indicated by a short prealar bristle of the mesonotum and by the cerci separated in apical 0.4). It is not similar to any Palaearctic genus of tachinids. In the key to the species of Blondeliini of North and Central America and the West Indies it comes to the genus Eucelatoria but differs from it in having eyes covered with long and dense hairs, the lower facial margin protruding forwards and well visible in lateral view, proboscis with elongate prementum, abdomen of the female not modified, without a keel and piercer. Aesia acerbiana sp. n. was reared from a larva of a tiger moth (Arctiidae), Acerbia alpina Quensel collected in the tundra landscape.     

On the fauna of tachinids (Diptera,Tachinidae) from Yakutia

144 tachinid species were recorded from Yakutia, among which 29 species, e.g., Drino galii B. B., Cleonice keteli Ziegler, Anthomyiopsis nigrisquamata Zett., Eulabidogaster setifacies Rd., Leucostoma meridianum Rd., and L. simplex Fall., were found there for the first time. Peculiarities of the distribution of some steppe species in Yakutia are considered.

发现并描述产自中国东北黑龙江的寄蝇科1新种,牡丹江新寄蝇Neoemdenia mudanjiangensis Hou et Zhang sp.nov.,给出了该属分种检索表。新种模式标本保存在沈阳师范大学昆虫标本馆(SYNU)。

The genus Campylocheta (Diptera: Tachinidae) from Japan

Seven new species of Campylocheta are described and illustrated from Japan: abdominalis from Hokkaido, Honshu and Kyushu, flaviceps from Honshu and Tsushima, grisea from Kyushu, argenticeps from Honshu, bisetosa from Hokkaido and Honshu, hirticeps from Hokkaido, Honshu and Tsushima, and suwai from Hokkaido. Campylocheta dentifera Richter and C. umbrinervis Mesnil are redescribed and a key to nine Japanese species is provided.     

A new genus and a new species of Orthocladiinae (Diptera, Chironomidae) from the Novaya Zemlya Archipelago

Arctosmittia biserovi gen. n., sp. n. (subfamily Orthocladiinae) is described from a single male. The specimen was collected in the Novaya Zemlya Archipelago (Yuzhnyi (Southern) Island, Pankov Peninsula). The new genus is closely related to Mesosmittia Brundin in the structure of the head, thorax, anal lobe, and squamae, and the presence of a false anal appendage in the male genitalia, but differs from it in a low value of the antenna index (AR < 1), the structure of the wing veins (FCu situated at the same level with cross-vein RM; veins R ₁ and R ₄₊₅ with macrotrichiae), presence of SCI on Ta ₁, and pseudospurs on Ta ₂ in the middle and hind legs, and in the structure of the genitalia (gonostylus with large additional lobe).     

A new genus and species of the Syllidae (Annelida, Polychaeta) from south India

A syllid species new to science is described from intertidal sandy sediments on the cast coast of India, for which a new genus is erected: Psammosyllis aliceae gen. et sp.n. Incorporation into either the Eusyllinae or the Exogoninae is unresolved, because it possesses characters of both of these poorly defined subfamilies.     

An unusual new species of the genus Brachypalpus Macquart (Diptera: Syrphidae) from Eastern Asia

Brachypalpus (Brachypalpus) longifacies sp. nov. is described and illustrated from Eastern Asia (Russian Far East and Japan). It differs from other species of the nominative subgenus by several unusual characters, i.e. face in profile weakly convex dorsally and concave ventrally, antennae very elongated, and abdomen with reddish transversal maculae on 2nd tergum (male) or 2nd and 3rd terga (female). A revision of the genus Trixa Meigen （Diptera： Tachinidae）

The genus Trixa Meigen, 1824 is revised. Dexiotrix Villeneuve, 1936 and Trixella Mesnil, 1980, each of which was sometimes treated as a distinct genus, are treated as junior synonyms of Trixa Meigen. Two species from Sichuan and Yunnan, China, are described as new to science, viz. Trixa chinensis sp. nov. and T. chaoi sp. nov. T. alpina Meigen is treated as a junior synonym of T. caerulescens Meigen. T. nox (Shima) and T.pubiseta (Mesnil) are newly recorded from China. Males of T. pubiseta (Mesnil) and T.longipensis (Villeneuve) are described for the first time. Diagnoses, figures and a key to twelve species in Trixa are given.
