This study was carried out to investigate the effects of 6-week aerobic exercise program upon blood Zn and Cu levels. There were 12 male university students with an average age of 21.67+/-0.89 years and no regular training habits participated in the study. The participants were subjected three days a week 1 hour a day continuous running program on treadmill with an intensity of 60-70% for a period of six weeks. They were fed with zinc and copper free diet throughout the study and it was made sure that they were not using copper or zinc containing vitamin tablets. The difference between the pre and post study period were found to be statistically significant as regards to both resting and maximal loading conditions (p<0.01). The pre and post training maxVO2 values were also found to be positively correlated with the copper and zinc levels in blood. Both the copper and zinc blood levels were found decreased after the training period p<0.05.  相似文献

Familial resemblance in maximal heart rate, blood lactate and aerobic power   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
There are considerable interindividual differences in maximal oxygen uptake per kilogram of body weight (VO2 max/kg), maximal heart rate (max HR) and maximal blood lactate (max blood La) measured during a progressive exercise test. The aim of the study was to quantify the familial relationships for these variables. Parents and children of 38 families of French-Canadian descent were submitted to a modified Balke treadmill test. VO2 max/kg and max HR were the highest values reached during the test for 1 min. Max blood La was obtained from a blood sample taken 2 min after the test. The effects of age and sex were significant for max blood La and VO2 max/kg in each generation. Scores were thus adjusted through multiple regression procedures (age + sex + age X sex + age2), yielding residuals which were submitted to further analysis. Intraclass correlations (ri) were significant in pairs of sibs for max blood La and max HR, i.e. 0.28 (p less than 0.01) and 0.43 (p less than 0.05), respectively. For VO2 max/kg, pairs of spouses and sibs were about similarly correlated (ri = 0.20 and 0.15; p less than 0.05). Data suggested that children were more related to their mother than to their father for VO2 max/kg, VO2 max/kg of fat-free weight, and particularly for max HR. It was concluded that familial resemblance and heritability estimates for maximal aerobic power, max HR and max blood La were quite low and generally nonsignificant. Correlations between biological sibs were, however, consistently significant for max HR and max blood La. The suggestion of a maternal effect in maximal aerobic power should be further investigated.  相似文献

Edvardsen, E, Ingjer, F, and B?, K. Fit women are not able to use the whole aerobic capacity during aerobic dance. J Strength Cond Res 25(12): 3479-3485, 2011-This study compared the aerobic capacity during maximal aerobic dance and treadmill running in fit women. Thirteen well-trained female aerobic dance instructors aged 30 ± 8.17 years (mean ± SD) exercised to exhaustion by running on a treadmill for measurement of maximal oxygen uptake (VO(2)max) and peak heart rate (HRpeak). Additionally, all subjects performed aerobic dancing until exhaustion after a choreographed videotaped routine trying to reach the same HRpeak as during maximal running. The p value for statistical significance between running and aerobic dance was set to ≤0.05. The results (mean ± SD) showed a lower VO(2)max in aerobic dance (52.2 ± 4.02 ml·kg·min) compared with treadmill running (55.9 ± 5.03 ml·kg·min) (p = 0.0003). Further, the mean ± SD HRpeak was 182 ± 9.15 b·min in aerobic dance and 192 ± 9.62 b·min in treadmill running, giving no difference in oxygen pulse between the 2 exercise forms (p = 0.32). There was no difference in peak ventilation (aerobic dance: 108 ± 10.81 L·min vs. running: 113 ± 11.49 L·min). In conclusion, aerobic dance does not seem to be able to use the whole aerobic capacity as in running. For well endurance-trained women, this may result in a lower total workload at maximal intensities. Aerobic dance may therefore not be as suitable as running during maximal intensities in well-trained females.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare the rate of decline in blood lactate (La) levels in nine trained men [maximal O2 consumption (VO2max) 65.5 +/- 3.3 ml.kg-1.min-1] and eight untrained men (VO2max 42.2 +/- 2.8 ml.kg-1.min-1) during passive recovery from a 3-min exercise bout. Trained and untrained subjects cycled at 85 and 80% VO2max, respectively, to produce similar peak blood La concentrations. Twenty samples of arterialized venous blood were drawn from a heated hand vein during 60 min of recovery and analyzed in an automated La analyzer. The data were then fitted to a biexponential function, which closely described the observed data (r = 0.97-0.98). There was no difference in the coefficient expressing the rate of decline in blood La for trained and untrained groups (0.0587 +/- 0.0111 vs. 0.0579 +/- 0.0100, respectively). However, trained subjects demonstrated a faster time-to-peak La (P = 0.01), indicative of a faster efflux of La from muscle to blood. Thus the rate of decline in blood La after exercise does not appear to be affected by training. The faster decline previously reported for trained subjects may be due to the use of a linear rather than a biexponential curve fit.  相似文献

Criteria for the identification of maximal steady state as related to state of conditioning were evaluated. 13 volunteers walker and/or ran during a series of 15 min tests on a treadmill. The speeds ranged from mild to exhaustive. Heart rate was monitored continuously; VO2 was determined from 6 min to 9 min; and venous blood was obtained at 10 min and 15 min for lactate analyses. Max VO2 was established for each subject. Subjects were classified on level of conditioning according to the quantity and quality of their activity record for the previous 6 months. The 10 min heart rate associated with a blood lactate level of 2.2 mM/L (MSSHR) was the best predictor of conditioning. The relative VO2 (% of max VO2) found with a 10 min blood lactate concentration of 2.2 mM/L (RMSSVO2) was almost as accurate as MSSHR in predicting state of conditioning. Changes in blood lactate levels between 10 min and 15 min were not significantly related to conditioning.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes of maximal oxygen consumption, left ventricular function and serum lipids after 36 weeks of aerobic exercise in elderly women without the influence of drugs. Eight elderly women were studied by M-mode and Doppler echocardiography to assess left ventricular size, mass and function. Maximal oxygen consumption (VO(2)max) was determined for each subject by administering a treadmill exercise test. The training intensity was decided by heart rate reserve. Subjects performed exercise for 40 minutes a day, 3 days a week at 50-60% of the heart rate reserve during the 36 weeks. Exercise capacity was assessed by VO(2)max with a graded exercise test of the treadmill. Weight and % body fat decreased after training. Cardiorespiratory function improved because of the increase in VO(2)max and VO(2)max normalized for body weight after training. Systolic blood pressure significantly decreased. There are no significant difference in all left ventricular's parameters (end-diastolic dimension, end-systolic dimension, end-diastolic volume, end-systolic volume, stroke volume, cardiac output, ejection fraction, fractional shortening) after 36 weeks. Exercise training did not induce left ventricular (LV) enlargement as evidence of an absence of increase in left ventricular end-diastolic volume. The total cholesterol level and triglyceride level decreased after training. High density lipoprotein-cholesterol significantly increased and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol significantly decreased, atherogenic index (AI) significantly decreased and apolipoprotein A-I increased and apolipoprotein B decreased after training. In conclusion, although there was no significant change in left ventricular function, aerobic training showed a positive influence on body composition, maximal oxygen consumption and serum lipids.  相似文献

This study was designed to determine whether patients with McArdle's disease, who do not increase their blood lactate levels during and after maximal exercise, have a slow "lactacid" component to their recovery O2 consumption (VO2) response after high-intensity exercise. VO2 was measured breath by breath during 6 min of rest before exercise, a progressive maximal cycle ergometer test, and 15 min of recovery in five McArdle's patients, six age-matched control subjects, and six maximal O2 consumption- (VO2 max) matched control subjects. The McArdle's patients' ventilatory threshold occurred at the same relative exercise intensity [71 +/- 7% (SD) VO2max] as in the control groups (60 +/- 13 and 70 +/- 10% VO2max) despite no increase and a 20% decrease in the McArdle's patients' arterialized blood lactate and H+ levels, respectively. The recovery VO2 responses of all three groups were better fit by a two-, than a one-, component exponential model, and the parameters of the slow component of the recovery VO2 response were the same in the three groups. The presence of the same slow component of the recovery VO2 response in the McArdle's patients and the control subjects, despite the lack of an increase in blood lactate or H+ levels during maximal exercise and recovery in the patients, provides evidence that this portion of the recovery VO2 response is not the result of a lactacid mechanism. In addition, it appears that the hyperventilation that accompanies high-intensity exercise may be the result of some mechanism other than acidosis or lung CO2 flux.  相似文献

From a population of 20 healthy male volunteers, half performed constant speed, incremental load maximal aerobic capacity (VO2max) tests on a motor-driven treadmill, while the other half performed similar VO2max tests on a bicycle ergometer. The two groups, matched for size and age, showed no significant differences in VO2max, maximum heart rate, or in post-exercise (4 min ) peripheral venous blood concentrations of lactete or pyruvate. However, post-exercise peripheral venous blood ammonia levels were significantly higher in the group tested on the bicycle ergometer than in the treadmill group.  相似文献

Numerous studies have reported that following intense exercise the rate of blood lactate (La) disappearance is greater during continuous aerobic work than during passive recovery. Recent work indicates that a combination of high- and low-intensity work may be optimal in reducing blood La. We tested this hypothesis by measuring the changes in blood La levels following maximal exercise during four different recovery patterns. Immediately following 50 S of maximal work, subjects (n = 7) performed one of the following recovery treatments for 40 min: 1) passive recovery (PR); 2) cycling at 35% maximal O2 uptake (VO2 max) (35% R); 3) cycling at 65% VO2 max (65% R); 4) cycling at 65% for 7 min followed by cycling at 35% for 33 min (CR). The treatment order was counterbalanced with each subject performing all treatments. Serial blood samples were obtained throughout recovery treatments and analyzed for La. The rate of blood La disappearance was significantly greater (P less than 0.05) in both the 35% R and CR when compared with either the 65% R or PR. No significant difference (P greater than 0.05) existed in the rate of blood La disappearance between the 35% R and CR. These data do not support the hypothesis that exercise recovery at a combination of intensities is superior to a recovery involving continuous submaximal exercise in lowering blood La following maximal work.  相似文献

Chronic pancreatitis is a serious condition associated with severe abdominal pain, and a significant percentage of patients progresses to irreversible calcification in pancreas. The present study evaluates the degree to which the levels of trace elements, copper, iron, selenium, zinc and haemoglobin-Fe3+, in blood, serum and pancreas have any role to play in the calcification process associated with fibrosis in pancreas. Twenty-seven calcific (CCP) and 23 non-calcific chronic pancreatitis (CP) patients and equal number of age- and sex-matched normal volunteers (50) were enrolled in the study. Surgically removed pancreatic tissue and blood samples were analysed for copper, iron, selenium, zinc, protein, collagen and lipid peroxidation products in terms of malondialdehyde, protein carbonyls, glutathione, methemoglobin, methemoglobin reductase and ceruloplasmin activity levels. We could find that the pancreatic tissue levels of copper, iron, protein and collagen contents were significantly elevated in CCP patients when compared to CP patients. Serum levels of copper, free ionic copper and iron were also elevated in CCP patients. The serum and the pancreatic tissue level of zinc and selenium showed a significant decrease in CCP patients. The level of methemoglobin was elevated more significantly with the concomitant decline in the activity of methemoglobin reductase. There was a positive correlation between the pancreatic level of copper and iron with the collagen and protein levels. The results of the present study revealed that the levels of copper and iron, the pro-oxidants and zinc and selenium may influence calcification process in CCP patients. Hypoxia-related tissue injury due to the formation of oxidised haemoglobin may also contribute to the pathogenesis of calcification in pancreas.  相似文献

A study of exercise performance was carried out in 17 obese girls and young adults. During submaximal steady-state bicycle exercise oxygen intake (Vo2) for a given work output (W) was raised in obese subjects but minute ventilation at a fixed carbon dioxide output, gas exchange, blood gases, and cardiac output at a given VO2 were similar to the values previously found for normals. In obese subjects high levels of VO2 for fixed W were also obtained on the treadmill but when these were standardized for body weight (unlike the bicycle test) it was shown that the obese girls and women exercised within the normal (expected) range of aerobic energy expenditure. During maximal performance the absolute VO2 max was the same in obese and nonobese subjects but for a given body weight, lean body mass, and leg muscle (plus) bone volume, VO2max was reduced by 23.8, 16.3, and 24.5% respectively, in the former group. It was concluded that obesity though having minimal affect on responses to submaximal exercise is nevertheless associated with a marked reduction in physiological performance at or near maximal effort.  相似文献

Submaximal and maximal oxygen consumption (VO2) and heart rate (HR) were correlated with running performance in events ranging from 100 yards to 2 miles, using as subjects 20 members of a college track team. In the first of two studies (n=11) a multi-stage walking test was used to determine VO2 and HR. Max VO2 expressed in ml/kg/min, was significantly related to 1 mile run performance but not to any of the other runs. Submaximal HR was significantly related to performance in both the 1 mile and 2 mile runs. Correlations between these physiological parameters and performance in the 220, 440, and 880 yard runs were nonsignificant. Multiple R's using max VO2 (ml/kg/min) and submaximal H were .758 and 9671, respectively, for the 1 and 2 mile runs. In study two (n=9) a running test for VO2 and HR was used, which resulted in a mean max VO2 about 7 ml higher than than elicited in the walking test, implying that for trained runners a running test was a more valid test of aerobic power. Marked relationships were found between body weight and performance, positive for the 100 yard dash and negative for the 2 mile run. Submaximal HR was again significantly related to performance in the 1 and 2 mile runs. Max VO2 was positively related to 2 mile performance and negatively related to 100 yard dash performance. Multiple R's using max VO2 and submaximal HR were .799 and .925 for the 1 and 2 mile runs, respectively. Using submaximal HR and weight the multiple R's were .777 and .945, showing that these two can account for a large amount of the variance in distance running performance. In neither study was submaximal VO2 significantly related to running performance.  相似文献

The present study sought to evaluate the inconsistencies previously observed regarding the predominance of continuous or interval training for improving fitness. The experimental design initially equated and subsequently maintained the same relative exercise intensity by both groups throughout the program. Twelve subjects were equally divided into continuous (CT, exercise at 50% maximal work) or interval (IT, 30 s work, 30 s rest at 100% maximal work) training groups that cycled 30 min day-1, 3 days.week-1, for 8 weeks. Following training, aerobic power (VO2max), exercising work rates, and peak power output were all higher (9-16%) after IT than after CT (5-7%). Vastus lateralis muscle citrate synthase activity increased 25% after CT but not after IT. A consistent increase in adenylate kinase activity (25%) was observed only after IT. During continuous cycling testing the CT group had reduced blood lactate (lab) levels and respiratory quotient at both the same absolute and relative (70% VO2max) work rates after training, while the IT group displayed similar changes only at the same absolute work rates. By contrast, both groups responded similarly during intermittent cycling testing with lower lab concentrations seen only at absolute work rates. These results show that, of the two types of training programs currently employed, IT produces higher increases in VO2max and in maximal exercise capacity. Nevertheless, CT is more effective at increasing muscle oxidative capacity and delaying the accumulation of lab during continuous exercise.  相似文献

To determine the effect of one-legged sprint training on muscle pH and nonbicarbonate buffering capacity (BC), 9 subjects completed 15 to 20 intervals at 90 RPM, 4 days a week for 7 weeks on a bicycle ergometer adapted for one-legged pedaling. Needle biopsies from the vastus lateralis and blood samples from an antecubital vein were taken at rest and twice during recovery (1 and 4 minutes) from a 60 s one-legged maximal power test on a cycle ergometer. pH one minute after exercise in both the trained and untrained legs following the training period was not different but both were higher than before training. BC increased from 49.9 to 57.8 mumol HCl x g-1 x pH-1 after training (p less than 0.05). Blood lactate levels after exercise were significantly higher for the trained leg when compared to the untrained leg after spring training. Peak and average power output on the 60 s power test increased significantly after training. One-legged aerobic power (VO2max) was significantly increased in the untrained and trained legs. Two-legged VO2max also improved significantly after training. These data suggest that nonbicarbonate buffering capacity and power output can be enhanced with one-legged sprint training. Also, small but significant improvements in VO2max were also observed.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine whether age-associated alterations in blood glucose levels occur during exercise. In addition, blood lactate and fitness levels (VO2max) were examined to ascertain if these factors influenced the age-related responses. Sixty-four female masters swimmers (25-75 years) were classified into either a well trained (WT) or recreational trained (RT) group and exercised on a treadmill to VO2max X VO2max data confirmed our classification of WT and RT swimmers based on activity levels. There were no differences in post-absorptive blood glucose and lactate levels across age and fitness. Significant age-related effects on blood glucose levels during exercise (p less than 0.01) but no fitness effect were revealed by ANOVA. Within the first or second exercise stage all age groups demonstrated a significant decline in blood glucose (6.3 to 14.1%). A hyperglycemic response was observed during recovery in all age groups with the exception of the over 60 (60+) group. The 60+ group exhibited lower blood glucose levels compared to all other age groups during exercise commencing with the second exercise stage. There were no significant differences in glucose levels among any of the other age groups during exercise or recovery. There were no age-related differences in maximal or recovery lactates. These data indicate that there is an alteration of blood glucose homeostasis during exercise in females over 60 years of age.  相似文献

There are conflicting reports in the literature which imply that the decrement in maximal aerobic power experienced by a sea-level (SL) resident sojourning at high altitude (HA) is either smaller or larger for the more aerobically "fit" person. In the present study, data collected during several investigations conducted at an altitude of 4300 m were analyzed to determine if the level of aerobic fitness influenced the decrement in maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) at HA. The VO2max of 51 male SL residents was measured at an altitude of 50 m and again at 4300 m. The subjects' ages, heights, and weights (mean +/- SE) were 22 +/- 1 yr, 177 +/- 7 cm and 78 +/- 2 kg, respectively. The subjects' VO2max ranged from 36 to 60 ml X kg -1 X min -1 (mean +/- SE = 48 +/- 1) and the individual values were normally distributed within this range. Likewise, the decrement in VO2max at HA was normally distributed from 3 ml X kg-1 X min-1 (9% VO2max at SL) to 29 ml X kg-1 X min-1 (54% VO2max at SL), and averaged 13 +/- 1 ml X kg-1 X min-1 (27 +/- 1% VO2max at SL). The linear correlation coefficient between aerobic fitness and the magnitude of the decrement in VO2max at HA expressed in absolute terms was r = 0.56, or expressed as % VO2max at SL was r = 0.30; both were statistically significant (p less than 0.05).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The aim of this study was to determine the zinc, iron, copper, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium levels in blood serum and zinc and copper levels in hair of dogs with canine visceral leishmaniasis. The serum zinc and iron levels were found to be significantly lower in diseased dogs than those of healthy controls. Serum copper levels were significantly higher, whereas no significant differences were observed for calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium. There were no significant differences in the zinc and copper levels in hair. Our results show that the serum zinc, iron, and copper levels are altered in canine leishmaniasis.  相似文献

L-Carnitine (L-C), a well known physiological carrier across the inner mitochondrial membrane of activated long chain fatty acids and acceptor of acyl groups from acyl-CoA, has been recently synthesised industrially. This has made it possible to study the effects of L-C loading (4 g X d(-1) by mouth over a period of 2 weeks) on the aerobic and anaerobic performance of 6 long distance competitive walkers. As a result of the treatment: 1) mean total, free and esterified serum L-C both at rest and shortly after completing a 120 min walk at about 65% of the individual maximal aerobic power (VO2max) were significantly increased; 2) VO2max increased 6%, from 54.5 +/- 3.7 (S.D.) to 57.8 +/- 4.7 m1O2 X kg(-1) X min(-1) (P less than 0.02); 3) blood lactate concentration (Lab) as a consequence of short bouts repeated exercise (series of 10, 15 and 20 jumps off both feet on a force platform) was unchanged; 4) heart rate, pulmonary ventilation, oxygen consumption, and respiratory quotient in the same conditions as for 1) were unchanged. It is concluded that, in trained athletes, as a consequence of L-C loading VO2max is slightly but significantly raised, probably as a result of an activation of substrate flow through the TCA cycle, whereas the lipid contribution to metabolism in prolonged submaximal exercise remains unchanged.  相似文献

Peak aerobic power (VO2peak) is decreased after blood donation, but the time course for full recovery is unknown. We measured VO2peak and exercise time to fatigue before and weekly for 4 weeks after 450-ml blood donation at a blood donor clinic, to determine the time course of recovery. Twelve moderately active individuals (2 women, 10 men; 24.3 ± 5.2 years) of average aerobic fitness (based on their VO2peak relative to normative values) completed VO2peak exercise tests before donation, the day after donation, and at weekly intervals for 4 weeks after donation. VO2peak was determined by an incremental exercise test on a cycle ergometer. At baseline, mean absolute and relative VO2peak values were 4.06 ± 0.92 L·min(-1) and 46.6 ± 7.0 ml·kg(-1)·min(-1), respectively. VO2peak was significantly decreased on day 1 (3.85 ± 0.89 L·min(-1); 44.0 ± 6.5 ml·kg(-1)·min(-1)) and during week 2 (3.91 ± 0.97 L·min(-1); 44.5 ± 7.2 ml·kg(-1)·min(-1)) after blood donation (p < 0.05), and recovered at week 3 after donation. Time to fatigue and peak heart rate were not significantly affected by blood donation. We conclude that blood donation causes a significant decrease in VO2peak for between 2 and 3 weeks. The practical application of this study is that aerobic power in people of average fitness will be decreased, up to 3 weeks after donating blood. Despite this, there is no effect of blood donation on performance as measured by time to fatigue during an incremental test on a cycle ergometer.  相似文献

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is an increasingly common medical issue affecting millions worldwide, and contribution of the body’s trace elements to CRC is arguable. The concentrations and buffered status of selenium, iron, copper, zinc, and phosphorus in blood and large intestinal tissues of CRC patients are, respectively, variable and vital for cell physiology. The aim of this study was to assess selenium, iron, copper, zinc, and phosphorus variations in blood and colorectal epithelia along with examining the expression of mismatch repair proteins in CRC patients with/without metastasis for potential diagnosis/therapy. Concentrations of selenium, iron, copper, zinc, and phosphorus in blood of healthy versus CRC patients and colorectal epithelia (adenocarcinomatous versus non-adenocarcinomatous/control) were measured in 40 CRC patients (55.87 ± 11.9 years old) with/without metastasis before surgery using ICP-OES. Mismatch repair (MMR) protein expression was analyzed through histopathological/immunohistochemistry assays, which was sparse in 5 CRC patient’s colorectal tissues (12%). Compared with healthy individuals, blood and colorectal tissue’s levels of phosphorus, copper, and iron were significantly higher in the CRC patients, and more pronounced in metastatic CRC patients; conversely, blood and colorectal tissue’s selenium levels were significantly lower in metastatic patients. Unlike blood zinc, cancerous colorectal tissue’s zinc concentration was significantly lower in CRC patients compared to healthy control cohorts. There was no significant difference on the measured elements in samples from CRC patients with MMR compared to CRC patients with MMR+. Receiver operating characteristic analysis revealed a correlation of blood iron, zinc, copper, and phosphorus to CRC, and inappropriately low levels of blood and colorectal selenium correlated with exacerbated metastasis. Altered levels of selenium, iron, copper, zinc, and phosphorus in vivo may impact the pathogenesis and detection of CRC, and their diagnostic/therapeutic potential in CRC would be revealing.
