The fungi of 40 samples of barley grains collected from Upper Egypt were estimated using the dilution- and the grain-plate methods. 33 genera and 109 species, in addition to 2 varieties of Aspergillus nidulans, one variety of Aspergillus flavus and one variety of Penicillium cyclopium were identified. The spectrum of fungal genera and species collected by the grain-plate method (29 genera and 94 species+3 varieties) was broader than by the dilutionplate method (27 genera and 71 species+3 varieties), but the order of frequency of occurrence of fungal genera and species was basically similar in the two methods. The most frequent genera were Aspergillus (25 species+3 varieties), Penicillium (32 species+1 variety), Rhizopus (2 species), Alternaria (2 species), Fusarium (6 species) and Drechslera (5 species) and were represented (as assayed by the grainplate method) in 100 %, 77.5 %, 85 % 62,5 %, 60 % and 52.5 % of the samples constituting 60.4 %, 10.2 %, 7.7 %, 3.7 %, 5 % and 2.3 % of the gross total count of fungi respectively. From the preceding genera A. niger, A. fumigatus, A. flavus, A. sydowii, P. notatum, P. citrinum, F. oxysporum, F. moniliforme, F. solani, R. stolonifer, A. alternata and D. spicifera were the most frequent.  相似文献

30 genera and 77 species, in addition to 4 varieties were isolated from 25 samples of each of barley, wheat, maize and sorghum grains collected from different places in Egypt. The broadest spectrum of genera and species was recorded in wheat (25 genera and 59 species + 4 varieties) followed by barley (21 genera and 52 species + 2 varieties), sorghum (14 genera and 33 species + 2 varieties) and maize grains (11 genera and 29 species + 2 varieties). Aspergillus, Fusarium, Penicillium and Rhizopus were the most common genera in the four grains, except maize where Penicillium emerged in low frequency. Aspergillus was the main component of the fungal flora of the four grains and contributed 79–94.4% of the gross total count of fungi. From the preceding genera A. niger, A. flavus, A. fumigatus, F. oxysporum, P. chrysogenum, P. corylophilum, P. notatum and R. stolonifer were the most frequent.  相似文献

100 species and 2 varieties of A. nidulans which belong to 35 genera were identified from 40 samples of barley collected from different places in Upper Egypt. Two methods of isolation were used: the grain-and the dilution plate. The spectrum of fungal genera and species collected by the former (35 genera, 96 species+1 variety) was broader than by the latter method (28 genera, 76 species+1 variety). Nine genera were of high occurrence (represented in more than 50% of the samples) namely, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Fusarium, Alternaria, Chaetomium, Cladosporium, Humicola, Drechslera and Myrothecium. The most frequent species were A. fumigatus, A. niger, A. flavus, A. sydowii, F. oxysporum, F. moniliforme, A. alternata, M. verrucaria, P. funiculosum, P. corylophilum, P. duclauxi, C. herbarum, C. globosum, D. spicifera and H. grisea. Several fungi such as Chaetomium, Humicola, Altemaria, Drechslera, Stachybotrys, Myrothecium, Pénicillium corylophilum and P. funiculosum were far more frequently recovered on cellulose than on glucose agar.  相似文献

131 species in addition to 7 varieties which belong to 40 genera were collected from the rhizosphere (36 genera and 120 species + 7 varieties) and rhizoplane (27 genera and 56 species + 2 varieties) of Triticum vulgare. More than 22 species and 3 varieties were not encountered previously from soils or other sources in Saudi Arabia. In the rhizosphere, Aspergillus and Penicillium contributed the broadest spectrum of species (26 species + 5 varieties; and 24 species, respectively). The most frequent fungi were Aspergillus niger, A. clavatus, A. flavus, A. terreus, A. carneus, Penicillium citrinum, P. notatum, P. chrysogenum and Fusarium solani. In the rhizoplane which is a more selective substratum for fungi than the rhizosphere, the picture of dominance became different and the most common fungi were Fusarium solani, F. oxysporum, F. moniliforme, Drechslera spicifera, Cephalosporium roseo-griseum, Stemphylium botryosum, Acremonium strictum and Rhizoctonia solani.  相似文献

Study on the mycoflora of Egyptian soils   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Fifty genera and 155 species, in addition to three varieties of Aspergillus nidulans, were isolated from 100 soil samples collected from different localities in Egypt. Aspergillus (33 species in addition to 3 varieties of A. nidulans), Penicillium (46 species), Fusarium (6 species) and Mucor (4 species) were of high occurrence, from which A. niger, A. fumigatus, A. terreus, M. racemosus, P. notatum, P. chrysogenum and A. flavus were dominant. Five genera were of moderate occurrence and these were Humicola, Myrothecium, Rhizopus, Cochliobolus and Alternaria. Fourteen genera were of low occurrence namely, Cunninghamella, Chaetomium, Stachybotrys, Cladosporium, Syncephalastrum, Paecilomyces, Trichoderma, Scolecobasidium, Circinella, Curvularia, Ulocladium, Botryotrichum, Sepedonium and Gliocladium. Twenty-seven genera were of rare occurrence.Fourteen species were of moderate occurrence and these were A. sydowii, M. verrucaria, P. funiculosum, A. versicolor, H. grisea, F. oxysporum, A. nidulans, F. moniliforme, A. alternata, F. solani, M. hiemalis, A. candidus, R. nigricans and A. ochraceus. The remaining species were of low or rare occurrence in soils tested.Comparison between the present results and those of others showed that there is no fungal flora characteristic cultivated soils.  相似文献

Sixty-four species and 2 varieties which belong to nineteen genera of fungi were identified from 40 peanut seed samples collected from different places in Egypt by using a dilution-plate method on glucose-Czapek's medium. The most frequent genera were Aspergillus (21 species & 2 varieties), Penicillium (16 species) and Fusarium (6 species). A. flavus, A. fumigatus, A. niger, P. chrysogenum and F. oxysporum were the most common fungal species. Forty seven percent of the samples proved to be toxic to brine shrimp (Artemia salina) larvae. Thin-layer Chromatographic analysis revealed that peanuts were contaminated by aflatoxins (11 samples), thrichothecene-toxins (10 samples), zearalenone (one sample) and citrinin (one sample). We believe that this is the first report of the natural occurrence of zearalenone and trichothecene-toxins in peanuts.  相似文献

Ninety-five species and seven varieties which belong to thirty-nine genera were isolated from 74 soil samples from salt marshes. At 28°C, on 30% sucrose Czapek's agar, ninety species and four varieties which belong to thirty-six genera were encountered, from which A. niger, A. fumigatus A. terreus and P. notatum were the most frequent. On 60% sucrose Czapek's agar, sixty-three species and three varieties were recovered which belong to twenty-five genera, from which A. niger, A. fumigatus, Cladosporium herbarum and A. terreus were the most frequent. At 45°C, on 30% sucrose, sixteen species and four varieties were identified, but on 60% sucrose, fourteen species and three varieties were isolated. A. fumigatus and A. niger were the most frequent on both sucrose concentrations. The results reveal that the soil samples poor in total osmophilic fungi (at 28°C) were significantly higher in their content of total soluble salts, Na and K and significantly lower in the average number of species per soil samples than the rich ones; the difference was nonsignificant in case of organic matter.  相似文献

Twenty-six genera and Sixty-six species, in addition to two varieties of Aspergillus nidulans and one variety of Humicola grisea were isolated from 80 peanut seed (uncovered or covered within shell at the time of sampling) samples and 40 samples of shells collected from different places in Egypt. At 28 °C, the broadest spectrum of genera and species was recorded in the shells (21 genera and 53 species), followed by the naked seeds (16 genera and 38 species) and the covered seeds (17 genera and 33 species). Aspergillus and Penicillium were regularly the most common genera in the three substrates. A. niger, A. fumigatus, A. flavus A. terreus, A. ochraceus and P. funiculosum were generally the most common fungal species recovered from the three substrates. A. flavus was represented in 80%, 60% and 80% of the samples constituting 16.1%, 8.4% and 27.2% of the total count of fungi of the shells, covered and uncovered seeds respectively. At 45 °C, nine genera and sixteen species were collected of which Aspergillus fumigatus was extremely dominant in the three substrates, followed by A. terreus and A. niger. Penicillium was completely eliminated.  相似文献

From 40 peanut seed samples collected in Egypt, forty-three species and one variety of fungi, belonging to 16 genera, were collected. The most dominant genera were Aspergillus (11 species + one variety), Penicillium (11 species) and Fusarium (4 species). From the preceding genera A. fumigatus, A. flavus, A. niger, P. chrysogenum and F. oxysporum were the most frequent species.Forty-nine isolates belonging to 12 species and one variety were tested for production of mycotoxins, after growth on liquid medium containing two carbon sources (sucrose or cellulose). Thin layer chromatographic analysis revealed that the quality and quantity of mycotoxins was higher on sucrose than cellulose. Mycotoxins identified were aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 & G2, citrinin; fumagillin; diacetoxyscirpenol T-2 toxin; satratoxin H; and zearalenone.  相似文献

Thirteen seed samples of lentil (Lens esculenta) were incubated on agar plate and moist filter papers (Moist Chambers) at 28 ± 2 °C for determination of the incidence of seed-borne fungi. Aflatoxins content of the seeds was measured using the bright greenish-yellow fluorescence test (BGYF) and thin-layer chromatography (TLC). Sixty-nine species and seven varieties, which belong to 24 genera of fungi, were isolated from this crop. Of these fungi, 51 species and two varieties are considered new for this crop, whereas seven genera and 13 species are new to the mycoflora of the Sudan. The genus Aspergillus (13 species and 6 varieties) which comprising 44% of the total colony count was the most prevalent genus followed by Rhizopus (2 species, 19%), Penicillium (6 species) and Fusarium (8 species) (12%), Chaetomium (3 species) and Cladosporium (5 species) (6%), where the 18 genera (1–4 species) showed very low level of incidence (19%). Of the possible pathogens of lentil plants, F. oxysporum the main cause of vascular wilt was recovered from seeds of this crop. Thin layer chromatographic analysis of chloroform extracts of 13 seed samples showed that only one samples was naturally contaminated with aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 (14.3 μg/kg). This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The seasonal fluctuations of fungi were studied in 72 soil samples collected at 10-day intervals between January 1972 and December 1973. The richest periods in the fungal population were January, March and September–December 1972, and April, May, September, November and December 1973. The poorest months were consistently June and July of 1972 and 1973 and August 1973 which are all summer months. Thirty-nine genera were isolated of which Aspergillus, Penicillium, Fusarium, Mucor, Rhizopus and Humicola were of high seasonal occurrence. Seven genera were of moderate occurrence and these were Cochliobolus,Stachybotrys, Paecilomyces, Cunninghamella, Myrothecium, Chaetomium and Sepedonium. The remaining genera were of low or rare seasonal occurrence. Aspergillus showed its highest prevalence during the periods May-September 1972 and April-August 1973. Twenty-four species of Aspergillus in addition to two varieties of A. nidulans were isolated, of which A. niger, A. fumigatus, A. terreus, A. nidulans and A. sydowii were dominant. Thirty species of Penicillium were identified, of which P. notatum, P. funiculosum and P. chrysogenum were of high seasonal occurrence. Penicillium predominated during winter and spring months. Fusarium showed its highest percentage populations during the periods February, March, April, October, November and December 1972 and February, August, September, October and November 1973. Four species of Mucor were recorded of which M. racemosus was the commonest; and its highest percentage populations were recorded in November 1972; and February, March and November 1973 which are moderate temperature months. Rhizopus was represented by two species of which R. nigricans was of high seasonal occurrence. Three species of Humicola were isolated of which H. grisea was the most common.  相似文献

Species richness, spore density, frequency of occurrence, and relative abundance of AM fungi were determined in rhizosphere soil samples from nine tropical rainforest sites on Hainan island, south China, and the arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) status of members of the Meliaceae was examined. All 28 plant taxa investigated (25 species including two varieties of 1 species and three varieties of another) were colonized by AM fungi. The mean proportion of root length colonized was 56% (range 10–95%). Vesicles were observed in 27 and hyphal coils in 26 of the 28 plant taxa. Mycorrhizas were of the Paris-type or intermediate-type, with no Arum-type mycorrhizas observed. Species richness of AM fungi varied from 3 to 15 and spore density from 46 to 1,499 per 100 g rhizosphere soil. Of 33 AM fungal taxa in five genera isolated and identified, 18 belonged to Glomus, 9 to Acaulospora, 1 to Entrophospora, 2 to Gigaspora, and 3 to Scutellospora. Acaulospora and Glomus were the dominant genera identified. Glomus claroideum was the taxon most commonly isolated, with a frequency of occurrence of 56.5% and relative abundance of 10.4%. A positive correlation was found between percentage of root length colonization and species richness. However, there was no correlation between spore density and percentage of root length colonized by AM fungi.  相似文献

Fungal flora of 20 samples of lentil seeds collected from Assiut governorate, Egypt, were studied. Seventeen genera and 13 species were isolated on glucose- (15 genera and 27 species), cellulose-(15 genera and 25 species)Czapek's agar media at 28 °C. The most common species were as follows: on glucose-Czapek's agar, Aspergillus fumigatus, A. niger, A. flavus, A. terreus, Penicillium notatum and Rhizopus oryzae and on cellulose agar, A. fumigatus, A. niger, A. flavus and P. notatum. Thin layer chromatographic (TLC) analysis and a biological test (Artemia salina) indicated the presence and the toxicity of aflatoxin in the extract of one sample (aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2, at 20 mg/kg, total). This is the first report of the natural occurrence of aflatoxins in lentils.  相似文献

Ecological and enzymatic studies on fungi associated with biscuits in Egypt   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Some 43 species and four varieties belonging to nineteen genera were collected from 30 samples of six types of biscuit on 30% sucrose and 1% starch Czapek-Dox agars at 28°C. The most contaminated samples were chocolate wafers with 327 and 195 colonies g−1, 12 and 8 genara and 18 and 13 species on the media, respectively. Samples of wafers without jam and jam wafers were less contaminated with fungi. The most frequently isolated fungi on the two media were Alternaria alternata, Aspergillus alutaceus, A. fumigatus, A. niger, A. sydowii, Cladosporium cladosporioides, C. herbarum, Penicillium chrysogenum, P. janczewskii and yeasts (Saccharomyces spp.). The osmophiles, Eurotium amstelodami and E. repens, were infrequently isolated from chocolates and jam-wafer biscuits. All 69 isolates tested produced invertase and could produce 90%, respectively, amylase, caseinase, and catalase.  相似文献

100 osmophilic species in addition to two varieties which belong to 38 genera were isolated from desert soils of Saudi Arabia. The most prevalent genera were Asperngillus, Altemaria, Penicillium, Cephalosporium, Acremonium and Botryotrichum which occurred in 55–97.5% of the samples contributing 1.8–45.2% of total fungi. From the preceding genera A. amstelodami, A. fumigatus, A. terreus, A. niger, A. flavipes, A. repens, A. alternata, P. notatum, P. chrysogenum, P. citrinum, C.? racifi, A. strictum and B. atrogriseum were the most common. Five genera were recovered in moderate frequency namely, Ulocladium, Fusarium, Drechslera, Microascus, Syncephalastrum and Cladosporium which emerged in 25–42% of the samples comprising 0.7–2.8% of total fungi. The results obtained in the present investigation reveal that the fungus flora of Saudi Arabian soils is of osmophilic nature.  相似文献
