Pathotypes of Erysiphe graminis f. sp. hordei were monitored at fortnightly intervals in pure stands of cultivars Golf with Laevigatum resistance [gene Ml(La)], Steina with Arabische resistance (Mla 12) and Harry with Monte Cristo resistance (Mla9), as well as in two two-component mixtures [Golf + Steina (G + S) and Golf + Harry (G + H)] during the course of mildew epidemics in replicated field trials. The number of colonies per main tiller was also recorded. Virulence complexity (i.e. the average number of virulence genes per isolate with respect to the two matching resistance genes of the mixed cultivars) was always higher in mixtures than in pure stands. Linear regression of complexity on the number of elapsed mildew generations (based on actual temperature data) gave significant b-values (slopes) of 0.039, 0.034, 0.022 and 0.018 on Golf in G + S, Steina in G + S, Golf in G + H and Harry in G + H, respectively. In pure stands, there, was no significant complexity increase on any cultivar. The fact that b-values were higher on either component in the G + S than in the G + H mixture indicates stronger selection for the complex, i.e. two-virulence, pathotypes in G + S. Complex pathotypes had a higher relative fitness than simple (one-virulence) pathotypes in both mixtures but not in the pure stands. The absolute frequencies of complex pathotypes as measured by the area under the colony frequency curve (AUCFC) were higher on all cultivars in mixtures than in pure stands, except on Steina.  相似文献

Detached seedling leaf tests were used to assign 18 winter wheat cultivars to three wheat mildew resistance (WMR) groups on the basis of identified race-specific resistance characters. The same cultivars were exposed in mobile seedling nurseries from 1976 to 1979. Infection by mildew populations containing matching pathogenicity characters was used to recognise background seedling resistance in three cultivars: Maris Freeman, Maris Huntsman and Sentry. Treatment of seed with the systemic fungicides triadimenol plus fuberidazole as Baytan significantly decreased powdery mildew in field experiments involving eight oat cultivars differing widely in their resistance to the disease. This was so up to growth stage G.S. 61 (Zadoks) even in a year of high mildew incidence, although the effect diminished after flowering. Significant (P≥ 0.001) interactions between fungicide treatments and cultivars occurred in each of three years at nearly all assessment times. In years of high mildew incidence (1983 and 1984), susceptible cultivars developed similar levels of mildew in seed-treated and untreated plots by about flowering time, although cultivars with adult plant resistance (APR) had significantly less mildew when seed-treated than when left untreated. Later, as the APR was fully expressed and the fungicide effectiveness was declining, similar mildew levels were recorded on treated and untreated plots. Untreated APR cultivars generally had less mildew than treated susceptible cultivars and in a year of late and light mildew, APR alone provided good protection. Seed treatments combined with foliar sprays of tridemorph as Calixin almost completely controlled mildew except on very susceptible cultivars late in the season in high mildew years. Over all cultivars, seed treatment gave yield advantages of 5.3% (1983) and 6.6% (1984) but in 1982, a year of low mildew, the response was small. The possible influence of integrated host resistance and fungicides in stabilising the pathogen population at economically unimportant levels and the environmental benefit of using host resistance to minimise fungicide usage is discussed.  相似文献

Using genomic in situ hybidization, among the common wheat cultivars produced in West Siberia (Siberian Research Institute of Agriculture, Omsk) with the involvement of the winter wheat cultivar Kavkaz carrying the wheat-rye 1RS.1BL translocation we identified three cultivars with this translocation: Omskaya 29, Omskaya 37, and Omskaya 38. The protein and crude gluten contents in the grain of these cultivars are equal to or exceed the levels observed in cultivars without the wheat-rye translocation. The common wheat cultivars carrying the wheat-rye translocation were evaluated in terms of resistance of plants reaching wax ripeness to leaf rust and powdery mildew in the natural field conditions. The cultivars Omskaya 37 and Omskaya 38 displayed a high field resistance to leaf rust and were resistant to a variable extent to powdery mildew. The cultivar Omskaya 29 was susceptible to leaf rust and powdery mildew pathogens. Importance of the selection direction and the role of the genetic background in developing common wheat cultivars carrying the wheat-rye translocation is discussed.  相似文献

Powdery mildew significantly affects grain yield and end-use quality of winter wheat in the southern Great Plains. Employing resistance resources in locally adapted cultivars is the most effective means to control powdery mildew. Two types of powdery mildew resistance exist in wheat cultivars, i.e., qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative resistance is controlled by major genes, is race-specific, is not durable, and is effective in seedlings and in adult plants. Quantitative resistance is controlled by minor genes, is non-race-specific, is durable, and is predominantly effective in adult plants. In this study, we found that the segregation of powdery mildew resistance in a population of recombinant inbred lines developed from a cross between the susceptible cultivar Jagger and the resistant cultivar 2174 was controlled by a major QTL on the short arm of chromosome 1A and modified by four minor QTLs on chromosomes 1B, 3B, 4A, and 6D. The major QTL was mapped to the genomic region where the Pm3 gene resides. Using specific PCR markers for seven Pm3 alleles, 2174 was found to carry the Pm3a allele. Pm3a explained 61% of the total phenotypic variation in disease reaction observed among seedlings inoculated in the greenhouse and adult plants grown in the field and subjected to natural disease pressure. The resistant Pm3a allele was present among 4 of 31 cultivars currently being produced in the southern Great Plains. The genetic effects of several minor loci varied with different developmental stages and environments. Molecular markers associated with these genetic loci would facilitate incorporating genetic resistance to powdery mildew into improved winter wheat cultivars.  相似文献

Sowing mixtures of cereal cultivars has been advocated as a strategy to reduce yield loss resulting from disease in the short term and to delay adaptive changes amongst the races in the pathogen population in the long term. Six spring barley cultivars, Midas, Athos, Sundance, Mazurka, Goldmarker and Golden Promise, and seven selected paired mixtures of these, combined according to the compatibility of their resistance genes, were grown in field experiments during 3 yr. Where natural infection by powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis) was severe, as in 1980, levels of infection in the mixtures were less than the mean of the components in monoculture. Yields were generally increased by combining cultivars; mixtures of Athos with Midas and with Mazurka gave yields over 8% higher than the mean yields of their components but these apparent synergistic effects could not be associated with reductions in levels of mildew infection.  相似文献

We studied the dynamics of the abscisic acid content in above-ground parts of wheat cultivars with different resistance against powdery mildew. It was assayed by the HPLC method in healthy and diseased (inoculated by the powdery mildew causative agent) plants (from inoculation to the stage of pathogen spore formation). Twelve Polish spring wheat cultivars and 18 spring wheat accessions from CIMMYT, Mexico, were examined for resistance to a highly pathogenic Fusarium culmorum strain KF846 and powdery mildew in 5-year field experiments. Resistant wheat cultivars (Sumai 3 and Frontana) served as controls. The mean percentage of Fusarium-damaged kernels (% FDK) for 5 years was lower in CIMMYT accessions (16.7%) than in Polish spring cultivars (28.3%). In all Polish spring cultivars, % FDK was higher than in the control cultivars Sumai 3 and Frontana (12-20%). The mean disease score (on a scale of 1-9) for powdery mildew (natural infection) for all examined cultivars and lines ranged from 0 to 7 and in the Polish spring cultivars was significantly lower (0-5). Cultivars Eta, Henika, Ismena, Jasna and Olimpia were found to be the least susceptible to powdery mildew in field experiments. The laboratory host-pathogen tests with Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici isolates showed that only two cultivars were characterized by identical resistance patterns as the standard differential lines with documented resistance genes. Cultivar Alkora had the gene Pm3d, and Henika had Pm5. The gene Pm3d was identified in cultivars Jasna and Eta in combination with another unknown gene/genes. Cultivars Santa and Torka had the gene Pm5 in combination with another unknown gene/genes. Four cultivars: Banti, Ismena, Olimpia and Sigma, showed resistance to all mildew isolates employed in a laboratory test. The accession IPG-SW-14 was the least susceptible to both pathogens (F. culmorum and powdery mildew) in all 5 years of experiments. This line is the best candidate for deriving new cultivars with improved resistance to fungal diseases.  相似文献

威岭黑麦(Weiling rye)是一个高抗白粉病(Erysiphe gramininis f.sp.tritici)的中国矮杆栽培黑麦。以Weiling rye作为白粉病抗源,高感白粉病小麦栽培品种My8443为母本,从Weiling rye与小麦My8443远缘杂交的BC_2F_6后代中鉴定出一个新的小麦-黑麦易位系No.147,以实现威岭黑麦白粉病抗性向普通栽培小麦的转移。No.147及其亲本的抗白粉病特性通过苗期和成株期优势生理小种混合接种和室内单生理小种接种鉴定,改良的染色体C-分带和基因组原位杂交技术(GISH。Ge- nomic in situ hybridization)被用于鉴定小麦和黑麦的染色质,酸性聚丙烯酰胺凝胶电泳(APAGE)被用于鉴定黑麦醇溶蛋白1RS特异条带,11个黑麦种属特异性标记SCM(Secale cereale marker)引物被用于扩增分析黑麦特异性简单重复序列(SSR)。研究结果证实No.147是一个新的高抗白粉病的1BL/1RS小麦-黑麦染色体易位系,并对其产生的细胞学机制进行了分析。论文对中国栽培黑麦抗性基因资源的利用和该易位系在小麦遗传育种改良中的利用价值进行了讨论。  相似文献

Distribution of assimilates in cultivars of spring barley with different resistance against powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis f. sp. hordei) Transport and distribution of radioactive labelled assimilates in spring barley cultivars with different degrees of resistance to powdery mildew were studied after 14CO2-treatment of single leaves. Plants of the cultivars ‘Amsel’ (susceptible), ‘Asse’ (adult plant resistant), and ‘Rupee’ (resistant) were analyzed at the vegetative growth stage (5. leaf unfolded) and the generative growth stage (anthesis). At the vegetative growth stage the assimilate export from the mildew inoculated 5. leaf of ‘Amsel’ and ‘Rupee’ is decreased; in ‘Asse’, there is no considerable change of assimilate distribution due to infection. At the generative growth stage the assimilate export from the infected flag leaf of ‘Amsel’ is reduced when the fungus, is sporulating. In the cultivar ‘Asse’ the assimilates are bound at the infection site until the seventh day after inoculation, then the transport of assimilates to the ear is increased. In ‘Rupee’ mildew inoculation causes an enhanced assimilate transport to the ear. The changes in assimilate distribution due to mildew inoculation are discussed with respect to the different types of host-parasite-interactions and the source-sink-activities in the different cultivars.  相似文献

对36个引自加拿大的豌豆品种(系)进行抗白粉病表型和标记基因型鉴定,明确了豌豆品种Cooper和Tara白粉病抗性等位基因。苗期接种了2个不同地理来源的豌豆白粉病菌分离物,32个品种(系)对2个分离物均表现为免疫;品系MP1818-2对云南白粉菌分离物EPYN免疫,但对北京分离物EPBJ感病;其余3个品种对2个分离物均感病。4个与豌豆抗白粉病基因er1连锁的SCAR标记将36个豌豆品种(系)区分为5个标记基因型。与野生型PsMLO1基因序列比较发现,豌豆品种Cooper和Tara的PsMLO1候选基因均在680 bp处发生C变G的单核苷酸突变。  相似文献

Mildew from susceptible genotypes (SI and S2) of Hordeum bulbosum was found to be avirulent on all H. vulgare genotypes tested, including such cultivars as Proctor with no known genes for resistance to mildew. The H. bulbosum genotype SI (2n =14) proved resistant to all isolates of mildew from H. vulgare. The mildew isolates used for these tests possessed most of the common virulence factors which attack the current ‘vulgare’ cultivars in Western Europe. Some H. bulbosum genotypes were resistant to the ‘bulbosum’ mildew. Attempts at combining resistance from both species are presented and discussed.  相似文献

Ten Isolates of powdery mildew were tested on three spring barley cultivars known to express partial resistance and on Golden Promise. Measurements of colony lengths were made under several different environments and compared with similar data produced from several cultivars containing one of two major resistance genes. Significant isolate, cultivar and environment interactions were recorded and one isolate in particular showed adaptation to a partially resistant cultivar. Measurements of infection frequency were also made under two temperature regimes. Again significant isolate, cuitivar and temperature interactions were recorded and the same isolate showed adaptation to the same partially resistant cultivar. This indicates that adaptation to a source of partial resistance can be found amongst unselected isolates and that pleiotropically adapted genotypes may rapidly overcome such resistance in the field following its widespread deployment. Other genes for resistance were detected in the major gene cultivars, including partial resistance in the ml-v genotypes.  相似文献

Yield components and grain quality were investigated on eight cultivars of spring oats with known differences in adult plant resistance to mildew and with different fungicide treatments. Losses in grain yield caused by mildew could be accounted for mainly by reductions in numbers of fertile panicles and thousand grain weights. The proportion of grain yield to total biomass, (harvest index) was also reduced. There were no effects of treatment on the concentration of fatty acids in the grain, the proportions of the component fatty acids, the percentage content of grain protein or the specific weights. However, correlation analysis of the data revealed that percentage protein contents and specific weights were negatively correlated with levels of mildew. There were significant genetic differences between cultivars in all of the yield and quality characteristics but no fungicide treatment/cultivar interactions.  相似文献

选用来自我国不同地区的20个白粉病菌毒性菌株,对54个CIMMYT小麦品种(系)进行抗病性分析.结果表明:(1)34个品种(系)含有抗病基因,以Pm8基因出现频率最高,有15个品种(系)携带该基因;(2)参试主效基因中,Pm1、Pm3e、Pm5、Pm6和Pm7基因已丧失对我国白粉菌的抗性,Pm16和Pm20基因的抗性最强;(3)50个1B/1R易位系品种(系)中31个含有抗病基因,48%的抗病1B/1R易位系可检测到Pm8基因.根据田间成株期病程曲线下面积(AUDPC)聚类分析结果,可将54份材料分为高抗、中抗、中感和高感4类,7个品种(系)不含任何主效抗病基因而田间表现中到高的抗性,是典型慢病性品种.  相似文献

Quantitative powdery mildew resistance in compatible host-pathogen-combinations was measured by the number of pastules/cm2 leaf area. Spring barley cultivar ‘Proctor’ was significantly less infected than ‘Golden Promise”. Using these two cultivars (having no effective major resistance gene) as controls, MO- and AR-resistant cultivars were inoculated with virulent mildew isolates. ‘Mona”, ‘Grit’ and ‘Nudinka’ had a higher or, at least, the same level of quantitative resistance as ‘Proctor”. None of the remaining cultivars showed the high susceptibility expressed by ‘Golden Promise”. Ranking of host genotypes was nearly constant while that of mildew isolates varied considerably. Only a small portion of the observed variance was due to interaction between host cultivars and pathogen isolates. ‘Triesdorfer Diva’ gave a resistant infection type after inoculation with different AR-virulent isolates, indicating that this cultivar has major resistance other than that conditioned by gene Ml-a12.  相似文献

Lines were selected from progeny of the crosses Maldwyn × Milford and Maldwyn × Sun II which consistently exhibited small and large amounts of mildew in similar situations. These are referred to as ‘low’ and ‘high’ mildew lines respectively. In small plot field trials conducted in 1971, 1972 and 1973 the low mildew lines produced substantially more grain each year compared with the high mildew lines in plots where mildew was allowed to develop normally. In plots which were kept comparatively free from infection by spraying with tridemorph, both low and high mildew lines gave similar yield. When the unsprayed plots were compared with the sprayed plots the low mildew lines invariably showed very small losses in grain yield and the high mildew lines usually very large losses. This same trend was evident also in the parent cultivars in 1972. Maldwyn, with only 7·9% mildew cover in the unsprayed plots due to its resistance, suffered a decrease of only 9·2% in grain yield compared with losses of 17·1 and 20·3% in the more susceptible cultivars Milford and Sun II. Certain lines and cultivars sustained heavy levels of mildew without corresponding loss of grain yield, i.e. showed low sensitivity to the disease. The importance of combining low sensitivity (or tolerance) with adult plant resistance to mildew is discussed.  相似文献

利用黑麦染色体臂1RS的特异性PCR标记,对黄淮麦区138个小麦主栽品种、系进行了PCR扩增,结果表明:有42.0%的小麦品种、系携带1RS染色体臂。以六倍体小黑麦Mzalenod Beer为黑麦染色体供体,培育的兰考90(6)系列小麦品系是新的小麦-黑麦1BL/1RS易位系。这些品系对小麦白粉病具有很高的抗性,是小麦抗白粉病育种的新抗源。对兰考90(6)系列品系白粉病抗性进行了研究,结果表明,兰考90(6)系列品系的抗谱与许多已经知道的小麦抗白粉病基因的抗谱不同,并具有数量抗性特点。  相似文献

In the year 1992 a total of 163 isolates of wheat powdery mildew were tested. The samples of mildew isolates were obtained by means of a mobile spore catching apparatus. The populations from 4 regions of Slovakia and 3 regions of Hungary were analyzed. The resistance due toPm5, Pm8 andMl-i genes at the observed locations has already been overcome. The resistance genesPm1, Pm2 and a gene combinationPm2+Pm6 ensure the protection only against a part of the patho-types of powdery mildew population. Virulence corresponding to thePm4b gene has been low so far. The regional patterns of pathogen virulence are in good agreement with the gene resistance spectrum by the cultivars grown regionally. Little differences in virulence among the populations from the regions of Slovakia and Hungary indicate that this part of Eastern Europe should be considered as an epidemiologic unit.  相似文献

Downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola) and anthracnose (Sphaceloma ampelinum) are two major diseases that severely affect most grapevine (Vitis vinifera) cultivars grown commercially in Thailand. Progress of conventional breeding programs of grapevine for improved resistance to these diseases can be speeded up by selection of molecular markers associated with resistance traits. We evaluated the association between 13 resistance gene analog (RGA)-single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) markers with resistance to downy mildew and anthracnose in 71 segregating progenies of seven cross combinations between susceptible cultivars and resistant lines. F(1) hybrids from each cross were assessed for resistance to downy mildew and anthracnose (isolates Nk4-1 and Rc2-1) under laboratory conditions. Association of resistance traits with RGA-SSCP markers was evaluated using simple linear regression analysis. Three RGA-SSCP markers were found to be significantly correlated with anthracnose resistance, whereas significant correlation with downy mildew resistance was observed for only one RGA-SSCP marker. These results demonstrate the usefulness of RGA-SSCP markers. Four candidate markers with significant associations to resistance to these two major diseases of grapevine were identified. However, these putative associations between markers and resistance need to be verified with larger segregating populations before they can be used for marker-assisted selection.  相似文献
