The discrepancy between biological and social rhythms known as social jetlag (SJL) is common in modern society and has a range of negative consequences for cognitive functioning, well-being and health. Social jetlag is typical for people with late chronotypes. As shown earlier, the prevalence of individuals with a late chronotype is higher among the residents of high latitudes. Therefore, a higher rate of detection of people with SJL should be expected in the North. In this study we assessed the detection rate of SJL among 62 young inhabitants of the European North of Russia (the Komi Republic), and the relationship between SJL, the circadian rhythm of the wrist temperature, and the cortisol awakening response (CAR). The detection rate of SJL was 65% among the people examined. A significant decrease in the amplitude (A) of circadian rhythm of wrist temperature: (β = ?0.34 (CI 95%: ?0.66 to ?0.33); F1,60 = 10.4; p < 0.0001; η2 = 0.31), an increased incidence of depression: No-SJL = 4.5%; SJL = 17.5% (H = 4.84; p < 0.05), and a tendency for an increase in CAR was also observed in the SJL group. There were sex differences in sensitivity to SJL. Females with SJL but not males had higher global seasonality scores (β = 0.51 (CI 95%: 0.21 to 0.81); F1,33 = 10.9; p < 0.002; η2 =0.24), shorter sleep duration (β = ?0.52 (CI 95%: ?0.82 to ?0.22); F1,33 = 12.9; p < 0.001; η2 = 0.28), worse sleep quality (β = 0.39 (CI 95%: 0.07 to 0.72); F1,33 = 6.31; p < 0.017; η2 = 0.16) and lower A of circadian rhythm of wrist temperature (β = ?0.18 (CI 95%: ?0.55 to 0.18); F1,33 = 4.48; p < 0.043; η2 = 0.13) compared with females without SJL. Thus, our data indicate that 40 of 62 participants of investigation had social jetlag. A decrease of the amplitude of the circadian rhythm of the wrist temperature appears to be an objective marker of SJL. Social jetlag had a strong negative impact on females but not on males.  相似文献

Sleep disturbances, chronotype and social jetlag (SJL) have been associated with increased risks for major chronic diseases that take decades to develop, such as obesity, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease. Potential relationships between poor sleep, chronotype and SJL as they relate to metabolic risk factors for chronic disease have not been extensively investigated. This prospective study examined chronotype, SJL and poor sleep in relation to both obesity and elevated blood pressure among healthy young adults.

SJL and objective sleep measures (total sleep time, sleep onset latency, wake after sleep onset and sleep efficiency) were derived from personal rest/activity monitoring (armband actigraphy) among 390 healthy adults 21–35 years old. Participants wore the device for 6–10 days at 6-month intervals over a 2-year period (n = 1431 repeated observations). Chronotypes were categorized into morning, intermediate and evening groups using repeated measures latent class analysis. Means of SJL and sleep measures among latent chronotype groups were compared using partial F-tests in generalized linear mixed models. Generalized linear mixed models also were used to generate odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) examining the relationship between repeated measures of chronotype, SJL, sleep and concurrent anthropometric outcome measures (body mass index, percentage of body fat, waist-to-hip ratio, waist-to-height ratio), systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure.

Sleep latency ≥12 min was associated with increased odds of a high waist-to-height ratio (OR = 1.37; CI: 1.03–1.84). Neither chronotype nor SJL was independently associated with anthropometric outcomes or with blood pressure. Relationships between poor sleep and anthropometric outcomes or blood pressure varied by chronotype. Morning types with total sleep time <6 h, sleep efficiency <85% or wake after sleep onset ≥60 min were more likely to have an increased percentage of body fat, waist-to-hip ratio and waist-to-height ratio relative to those with an intermediate chronotype. Similarly, sleep latency ≥12 min was associated with increased odds of elevated systolic blood pressure (OR = 1.90; CI: 1.15–3.16, pinteraction = 0.02) among morning versus intermediate chronotypes. No relationships between poor sleep and obesity or elevated blood pressure were observed among evening chronotypes.

The results from this study among healthy young adults suggest that poor sleep among morning types may be more strongly associated with obesity and elevated blood pressure relative to those with an intermediate (neutral) chronotype. Sleep-related metabolic alterations among different chronotypes warrant further investigation.  相似文献

Previous studies indicate that solar clock (daily changes in the Earth’s surface illumination) is a main zeitgeber for human circadian system. It has been shown that human biological clock is weakly adjusted to such changes in social clock as daylight saving time (DST). There are two changes of social clock in Russian Federation: on 25 March 2011, DST has been replaced by permanent DST (DSTp), which was subsequently revoked on 26 October 2014 (non-DSTp). These manipulations with social clock may lead to prolonged disturbances of human circadian system. Our hypothesis is that during period of DSTp, the dissociation between social and biological clocks was greatest as compared with DST and non-DSTp periods. Here, we examine the effects of DSTp on the sleep timing, social jetlag (SJL), academic performance, and winter and summer seasonality of mood and behavior of 10–24-year-old inhabitants of European North of Russia. A cross-sectional retrospective analysis of questionnaire data (n = 7968) was performed using chi squared-test and analysis of covariance. Our findings indicate that SJL (F2,7967 = 31.9; p < 0.0001; η2 = 0.009), and winter pattern of mood seasonality (χ22,7967 = 10.5; p < 0.01) were increased in adolescents during the period of DSTp as compared with DST and non-DSTp periods. The largest increase in SJL was occurred in ages between 10 and 17-year-olds. The finding suggests that increase in SJL can be attributed to a later rise time on free days (F2,7967 = 44.9; p < 0.0001; η2 = 0.012). Similar changes were observed in three subsamples obtained in Syktyvkar, Petrozavodsk, and Vorkuta. Effect sizes of studied relationships were small or very small. The greatest effect sizes (η2 ~ 0.05) were observed in Arctic city of Vorkuta indicating that in polar region, solar clock is still stronger zeitgeber for human circadian system, than the social clock. In conclusion, we have shown for the first time that there is a greatest dissociation between social and biological clocks during the period of DSTp which potentially exerts a negative influence on adolescents’ sleep habits, mood, and behavior. Our data indicate that “non-DSTp” social clock system most suitable for prevention dissociation between social and biological clocks.  相似文献

Oocytes (N=2922) were collected from superovulated female C57B16/J X DBA2/J (B6D2F1) mice and distributed among 48 treatments consisting of a 2×3×2×2×2 factorial design. The factors were strain of spermatozoa, B6D2F1 or SJL/J; caffeine concentration in the fertilization medium, 0,2, or 6 mM; time oocytes were exposed to sperm, 1 or 2 hours; Ca++ concentration in the capacitation medium, 0 or 1.8 mM; and capacitation time, 1 or 2 hr. Ova were observed 400 min after they were initially exposed to 105 spermatozoa per ml. Ova with two or more pronuclei and a second polar body were considered fertilized, In vitro embryonic development was monitored for 5 days. B6D2F1 spermatozoa resulted in consistently higher rates of fertilization than SJL spermatozoa, 77.5% vs 38.7% when averaged over other treatments. Caffeine concentrations of 0,2, and 6 mM resulted in respective mean fertilization rates of 50.1%, 58.8%, and 65.4% (P<0.005) when averaged over other factors. Fertilization rates of ova exposed 1 and 2 hr to sperm were 53.0% and 63.3% (P<0.005). B6D2F1 spermatozoa capacitated in medium with 1.8 mM Ca++ fertilized more ova (P<0.01), 83.1%, than when no Ca++ was present, 71.9%; this effect was absent with SJL spermatozoa. The effect of capacitation time depended on strain. Fertilization rates with B6D2F1 spermatozoa were higher, 80.1%, with a 2-hour capacitation time than with a 1-hour capacitation time, 75.0%. Exactly the opposite was true for the SJL spermatozoa; 43.4% for the 1-hour and 34.1% for 2-hour capacitation (P<.01). Development to the blastocyst stage was significantly greater (P<0.025) for ova fertilized by B6D2F1 (26.8%) than by SJL spermatozoa (17.7%).  相似文献

Dam construction is a major driver of ecological change in freshwater ecosystems. Fish populations have been shown to diverge in response to different flow velocity habitats, yet adaptations of fish populations to river and reservoir habitats created by dams remains poorly understood. We aimed to evaluate divergence of morphological traits and prolonged swimming speed performance between lotic and lentic populations of Australian smelt Retropinna semoni and quantify the relationship between prolonged swimming speed performance and morphology. Prolonged swimming speed performance was assessed for 15 individuals from each of three river and two reservoir populations of R. semoni using the critical swimming speed test (Ucrit). Body shape was characterized using geometric morphometrics, which was combined with fin aspect ratios and standard length to assess morphological divergence among the five populations. Best subsets model-selection was used to identify the morphological traits that best explain Ucrit variation among individuals. Our results indicate R. semoni from river populations had significantly higher prolonged swimming speed performance (Ucrit = 46.61 ± 0.98 cm s−1) than reservoir conspecifics (Ucrit = 35.57 ± 0.83 cm s−1; F1,74 = 58.624, Z = 35.938, P < 0.001). Similarly, R. semoni sampled from river populations had significantly higher fin aspect ratios (ARcaudal = 1.71 ± 0.04 and 1.29 ± 0.02 respectively; F(1,74) = 56.247, Z = 40.107, P < 0.001; ARpectoral = 1.85 ± 0.03 and 1.33 ± 0.02 respectively; F(1,74) = 7.156, Z = 4.055, P < 0.01). Best-subset analyses revealed Ucrit was most strongly correlated with pectoral and caudal fin aspect ratios (R2adj = 0.973, AICc = 41.54). Body shape, however, was subject to a three-way interaction among population, habitat and sex effects (F3,74 = 1.038. Z = 1.982; P < 0.05). Thus sexual dimorphism formed a significant component of unique and complex variation in body shape among populations from different habitat types. This study revealed profound effects of human-altered flow environments on locomotor morphology and its functional link to changes in swimming performance of a common freshwater fish. While past studies have indicated body shape may be an important axis for divergence between lotic and lentic populations of several freshwater fishes, fin aspect ratios were the most important predictor of swimming speed in our study. Differences in body morphology here were inconsistent between river and reservoir populations, suggesting this aspect of phenotype may be more strongly influenced by other factors such as predation and sexual dimorphism.  相似文献

Despite the recognition of the beneficial role of cardiorespiratory power (CRP) for health and sport performance, the development of this physical fitness parameter in adolescent soccer players was not well studied. Aim of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the effect of age on CRP of adolescent soccer players, the influence of anthropometric characteristics and body composition on it, and to establish normative data. Male adolescent (N = 274; aged 12.07–20.98 y), classified in nine one-year age-groups, child (N = 12, aged 7.71–11.8 y) and adult players (N = 22; aged 21.12–31.59 y), all members of competitive soccer clubs, were examined for anthropometric characteristics and body composition and they performed Physical Working Capacity in heart rate 170 test (PWC170) on cycle ergometer. Analysis of variance revealed significant difference between age groups with respect to PWC170 in absolute (F 10,.297 = 29.58, P < 0.001, η2 = 0.5), relative to body mass (F 10,.297 = 5.28, P < 0.001, η2 = 0.15) and relative to fat free mass values (F 10.297 = 4.98, P < 0.001, η2= 0.14). In addition, age was in positive association with these parameters (r = 0.6, P < 0.001, r = 0.24, P < 0.001 and r = 0.23, P < 0.001, correspondingly). The main finding of this study was that CRP increased during developmental period in soccer players, even when it was adjusted to body mass or FFM, which increased during development. This documentation of the development of CRP provided useful tool for coaches and fitness trainers in order to apply optimal exercise interventions for health and performance.  相似文献

Morningness-eveningness, time of day, and physical exercises have been shown to influence mood states. This study aimed to test whether impact of physical exercise on mood depends on time of day and chronotype. Ninety-four participants (age 32 ± 6 years; 34% females; weekly training volume 4 ± 1 hours) filled the Composite Scale of Morningness and reported their current mood using the UWIST Mood Adjective Checklist before and after a 60-min long CrossFit training session which took part in the morning (beginning at 6:30 or 7:45) or in the evening (beginning at 19:30 or 20:45). In this quasi-experiment the measurements were taken by the occasion of the participants’ usual training, in their preferred hours. There were only a few evening-types in the studied sample, while morning and intermediate chronotypes were over-represented. Participation in CrossFit training resulted in mood improvement consisting of increase in energetic arousal (η2 = 0.29) and hedonic tone (η2 = 0.47) and reduction of tense arousal (η2 = 0.14), all significant at p = 0.001. Furthermore, CrossFit training during morning hours boosted mood in the intermediate/evening chronotype group to the levels observed in morning chronotypes (η2 = 0.29, p < 0.05, for the three-way interaction effect). We conclude that participation in intense physical exercise, such as CrossFit training, may allow compensation for the negative effects of non-optimal time of day on experienced moods, particularly in the case of neither/evening-types.  相似文献

We investigated the effects of a stimulation of pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) activity induced by 2-chloropropionate (2-CP) on venous plasma lactate concentration and peak anaerobic power (W an, peak) during periods (6 s) of incremental intense exercise, i.e. a force-velocity (F-) test known to induce a marked accumulation of lactate in the blood. TheF- test was performed twice by six subjects according to a double-blind randomized crossover protocol: once with placebo and once with 2-CP (43 mg · kg–1 body mass). Blood samples were taken at ingestion of the drug, at 10, 20, and 40 Min into the pretest period, at the end of each period of intense exercise, at the end of each 5-min recovery period, and after completion of theF- test at 5, 10, 15, and 30 min. During theF- test, venous plasma lactate concentrations with both placebo and 2-CP increased significantly when measured at the end of each period of intense exercise (F = 33.5,P < 0.001), and each 5-min recovery period (F = 24.6,P < 0.001). Venous plasma lactate concentrations were significantly lower with 2-CP at the end of each recovery period (P < 0.01), especially for high braking forces, i.e. 8 kg (P < 0.05), 9 kg (P < 0.02), and maximal braking force (P < 0.05). After completion of theF- test, venous plasma lactate concentrations were also significantly lower with 2-CP (P < 0.001). The percentage of lactate decrease between 5- and 30-min recovery was significantly higher with 2-CP than with the placebo [59 (SEM 4)% vs 44.6 (SEM 5.5)%,P < 0.05]. Furthermore,W an, peak was significantly higher with 2-CP than with the placebo [1016 (SEM 60) W vs 957 (SEM 55) W,P < 0.05]. In conclusion, PDH activation by 2-CP attenuated the increase in venous plasma lactate concentration during theF- test. Ingestion of 2-CP led to an increasedW an, peak.  相似文献

Objective:

There is limited information regarding the synergistic or additive effects of metabolic syndrome (MS) and endothelial dysfunction (ED) on cardiovascular disease (CVD). Altered cardiovascular responses to exercise have been shown to predict future cardiovascular events as well as assess autonomic function. The present study evaluated the impact of MS and brachial artery reactivity (a proxy of ED) on peak exercise‐induced cardiovascular changes.

Design and Methods:

Individuals (n = 303) undergoing a standard nuclear medicine exercise stress test were assessed for MS. Participants underwent a Forearm Hyperaemic Reactivity test and were considered to have dysfunctional reactivity if their rate of uptake ratio (RUR) was <3.55. Resting and peak blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) were measured. Reactivity was calculated as the difference between peak and resting measures.

Results:

Analyses, adjusting for age, sex, resting HR, total metabolic equivalents (METs), and a history of major CVD, revealed a main effect of MS (F = 5.51, η2 = 0.02, P = 0.02) and RUR (F = 6.69, η2 = 0.02, P = 0.01) on HR reactivity, such that patients with MS and/or poor RUR had reduced HR reactivity. There were no interactive effects of RUR and MS. There were no effects of RUR or MS on systolic BP (SBP) or diastolic BP (DBP) reactivity or rate pressure product (RPP) reactivity.

Conclusions:

The presence of decreased HR reactivity among participants with MS or poor brachial artery reactivity, combined with the lack of difference in other exercise‐induced cardiovascular changes, indicates that these patients may have some degree of parasympathetic dysregulation. Further longitudinal studies are needed to understand the long‐term implications of MS and endothelial abnormalities in this context.  相似文献

Chronotype can be classified as morningness types, people who prefer morning hours for their physical and mental activities; eveningness types, people who prefer the afternoon or evening hours; and intermediate types, those who show characteristics of both morningness and eveningness types. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has been linked with disturbances in chronotype, particularly increased eveningness. Despite the possibility of an association between chronotypes, sleep disturbances and ADHD symptoms, there is little evidence of this association considering the child population. The purpose of this study was to examine chronotype preferences in children aged between 7 and 12 years who were diagnosed as having ADHD in the context of sleep disturbances. The Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School Age Children-Present and Lifetime Version, Conner’s Rating Scales, Children’s Sleep Habit Questionnaire and Children’s Chronotype Questionnaire were used for the evaluation of children with ADHD and healthy controls. The ADHD group was 73% combined-type, and the eveningness scores of the ADHD group (n = 52) were significantly higher than the control group (n = 52) (p < 0.01). There was a positive correlation between the higher scores of eveningness and total scores on resistance to sleep time (p < 0.09), respiratory problems during sleep and daytime sleepiness in the ADHD group. CSHQ total score was found to be a predictive factor for eveningness among children with ADHD (p < 0.01). These findings highlight possible reciprocal links between ADHD symptoms, sleep disturbances and chronotype in children aged 7–12 years, which might lead to individualized treatment options.  相似文献

The effects of alien invasive water plants (Eichhornia crassipes, Salvinia molesta, Imperata cylindrical and Mikania micrantha) on the pheasant-tailed jacana (Hydrophasianus chirugus) was studied in three reservoirs from June 2004 to May 2005 at the Annaiwilundawa Ramsar site of northwestern Sri Lanka. Jacanas were observed in significantly fewer numbers among invasive plants and open water and in significantly higher numbers among grass and floating leaved plants than predicted from the proportions of the reservoirs covered by these habitat types (Annaiwilundawa χ2 = 64.35, P < 0.0001; Suruwila χ2 = 45.66, P < 0.0001; Maiyawa χ2 = 33.35, P < 0.0001). Feeding was the major activity of the pheasant-tailed jacana during the study period [analysis of variance (ANOVA) F = 79.58, P < 0.0001 in the morning and F = 85.53, P < 0.0001 in the evening]. Jacanas preferred to forage in grass and floating leaved vegetation compared to invasive plants and open water (ANOVA F = 168.63, P < 0.001). The jacana population was significantly positively correlated with water level in all three reservoirs. (Spearman’s rank correlation, Annaiwilundawa z = 2.035, P < 0.05; Suruwila z = 2.19, P < 0.05; Maiyawa z = 2.563, P < 0.05). The findings of this study revealed that the most critical factor for the occupation of the reservoirs by jacanas was the water level and that the spread of the invasive plants in these reservoirs were detrimental to jacanas, since these plants deprived jacanas of useful foraging habitats.  相似文献

A survey of the genetic variability in deer mouse populations was performed using specimens collected from six different islands on a lake covering approximately 50 km2. Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) was used to measure the extent of the genetic differences in this insular system. An analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) revealed that populations are clearly separated at this microgeographic scale (F st = 0.13863; P < 0.001). The homogeneity of molecular variance test (HOMOVA) indicated that within-population levels vary greatly (B p = 0.76831; P < 0.001). The within-population molecular variance was found to be mainly correlated with the accessibility of the islands, computed as the inverse of the geographic distance separating an island from the lakeshore (r = 0.916; P < 0.003). In 2002, Caspi and colleagues provided the first epidemiological evidence that genotype may moderate individuals' responses to environmental determinants. However, in a correlational study great care must be taken to ensure the proper estimation of the causal relationship. Here, a randomized experiment was performed to test the hypothesis that the MAOA gene promoter polymorphism (MAOA‐LPR) interacts with environmental adversity in determining aggressive behavior using laboratory analogs of real‐life conditions. A sample of 57 Caucasian male students of Catalan and Spanish origin was recruited at the University of Barcelona. Ostracism, or social exclusion, was induced as environmental adversity using the Cyberball software. Laboratory aggression was assessed with the Point Subtraction Aggression Paradigm (PSAP), which was used as an analog of antisocial behavior. We also measured aggressiveness by means of the reduced version of the Aggression Questionnaire. The MAOA‐LPR polymorphism showed a significant effect on the number of aggressive responses in the PSAP (F1,53 = 4.63, P = 0.03, partial η2 = 0.08), as well as social exclusion (F1,53 = 8.03, P = 0.01, partial η2 = 0.13). Most notably, however, we found that the MAOA‐LPR polymorphism interacts significantly with social exclusion in order to provoke aggressive behavior (F1,53 = 4.42, P = 0.04, partial η2 = 0.08), remarkably, the low‐activity allele of the MAOA‐LPR polymorphism carriers in the ostracized group show significantly higher aggression scores than the rest. Our results support the notion that gene–environment interactions can be successfully reproduced within a laboratory using analogs and an appropriate design. We provide guidelines to test gene–environment interactions hypotheses under controlled, experimental settings.  相似文献

Age and growth of early-life-stage Atlantic tarpon Megalops atlanticus collected from Mississippi coastal waters in the northcentral Gulf of Mexico (GOM) are described using otolith microstructure analysis. Tarpon leptocephali (n = 95, 16.0—27.8 mm standard length, LS) collected from June throughOctober 2013—2018, ranged in age from 22 to 43 days (mean = 30.9 ± 0.5 days). Leptocephalus somatic growth rates ranged 0.46—1.24 mm day−1 (mean = 0.76 ± 0.02 mm day−1), and leptocephalus otolith growth rates ranged 1.78—3.97 μm day−1 (mean = 2.58 ± 0.04 μm day−1). Growth rates were inversely correlated to leptocephalus age, indicating the shrinkage phase associated with leptocephalus metamorphosis. Juvenile tarpon (n = 358, 50—359 mm fork length, LF) were collected from August through December 2007—2018. Juveniles exhibited a positive allometric relationship (adjusted R2 = 0.99, P < 0.001) between length and mass. The age of 100 juveniles (71—277 mm LF) ranged from 76 to 174 days. Juvenile growth rate was estimated as 1.56 ± 0.11 mm day−1. Significant (P < 0.001) linear relationships were found between juvenile age and otolith metrics, including otolith mass (R2 = 0.81) and radius (R2 = 0.68). Evaluation of the backcalculated hatch dates suggests that specimens in the collection hatched from late May through mid-September with slight peaks during July and August. A Rao's Spacing Test of Uniformity indicates the presence of significant lunar periodicity in leptocephalus hatch dates (n = 95, U = 250.1, P < 0.05), with 50% of the leptocephali hatched within 5 days (before or after) of the full moon. This study fills critical gaps in the scientific knowledge of tarpon and provides estimates of early-life-history metrics for an iconic game fish at the northernmost extent of its GOM range.  相似文献

Sociality motivation, the need to feel socially connected with others, has been proposed as an important determinant of individual variation in anthropomorphic thinking. Specifically, it has been suggested that people who are socially isolated or disconnected will tend to infer more human-like mental states in animals and other nonhuman agents (computers, robots, metaphysical beings, etc.), than those who have higher levels of contact with other people. We investigated this hypothesis in a community-based sample of cat and dog owners, measuring degree of anthropomorphism by asking them which emotions they believed their pet was capable of experiencing, how likely they were to rely on it for social support, and how attached they were to it. Structural measures of social disconnection, including the number of other adults living in the household and the number of social contacts outside the home, were not generally associated with the tendency to think anthropomorphically about pets. However, owners living in households with no children (under the age of 16 years) reported higher levels of attachment to their pet than did those with children (B = 1.678, p < 0.001), and felt that they derived relatively more social support from it than they did from humans (F(1,244) = 4.997, p < 0.05, partial η2 = 0.020). In addition, a trait-based indicator of social disconnection (self-reported anxiety about human social relationships) was associated with a heightened tendency for owners to report turning to their pet for support (F(1,244) = 19.617, p < 0.001, partial η2 = 0.074), and attributing more human-like emotions to it (F(1,244) = 8.354, p < 0.005, partial η2 = 0.033). These findings support a link between social disconnection and anthropomorphic thinking in a community setting; they also suggest that different forms of social disconnection (structural and trait-based) may generate different types of sociality motivation, and thereby influence different facets of anthropomorphic thinking.  相似文献

Recently we reported that antigen-primed T cells from (H-2 u × H-2 s)F1 and (H-2 u × H-2 q)F1 mice responded poorly in vitro to antigen in the context of antigen-presenting cells of the non-H-2 u parent. It was suggested that this effect might be due to unbalanced expression of parental antigens in the F1 hybrid with the result that the non-H-2u A antigens were greatly reduced or absent in these mice. If this were the case, non-H-2u Ia-A cells might be expected to stimulate a mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR) when cultured with Fl responder cells. When tested, (SJL × PL)F1 responder cells reacted strongly to SJL stimulator cells. There was no significant reaction to PL stimulator cells. The use of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) congenic mice showed the stimulatory antigens to be associated with the MHC. The MLR could be blocked significantly by monoclonal A-specific antibody of the appropriate specificity. When a monoclonal antibody reactivewith a private epitope associated with As was used to probe for the presence of As on the surface of (SJL × PL)F1 spleen cells, no antigen could be detected, indicating loss or alteration of this antigen. These findings suggest that an alteration of the expression of the parental As molecule may be responsible for this phenomenon.Abbreviations used in this paper APC antigen-presenting cells - BSS balanced salt solution - CTL cytotoxic T lymphocyte - IL-2 interleukin-2 - MHC major histocompatibility complex - MLR mixed lymphocyte reaction - T2 suppressor T lymphocyte  相似文献

The di-μ-hydroxo complexes [NBu4]2[{(C6F5)2M(μ-OH)}2] (M=Pd, Pt) react with PhNCS in alcohol ROH solution to yield the N,S-chelating thiocarbamate metal complexes [NBu4][(C6F5)2M{η2-SC(OR)NPh}] (R=Me, Et or Prn). [NBu4]2[{(C6F5)2Pd(μ-OH)}2] also reacts with PhNCS in the presence of dialkylamines R2NH to yield the N,S-chelating thioureate (1−) palladium complexes [NBu4][(C6F5)2Pd{η2-SC(NR2)NPh}] (R=Me or Et). [NBu4][(C6F5)2M{η2-SC(X)NPh}] (M=Pd or Pt; X=OMe or NR2) reacts with [(C6F5)Pd(bpzm)(acetone)]ClO4 to yield the dinuclear complexes [(C6F5)2M{(μ22-{SC(X)NPh}Pd(C6F5)(bpzm)] (M=Pd or Pt, X=OMe or NR2; bpzm=bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)methane). The single-crystal structures of [NBu4][(C6F5)2Pd{η2-SC(OMe)NPh}] and [(C6F5)2Pd{μ22-SC(NMe2)NPh}Pd(C6F5)(bpzm)] have been established by X-ray diffraction.  相似文献

Circadian preference toward eveningness has been associated with increased risk for mental health problems both in early adolescence and in adulthood. However, in late adolescence, when circadian rhythm naturally shifts to later, its significance for mental health is not clear. Accordingly, we studied how circadian rhythm estimated both by self-reported chronotype and by actigraph-defined midpoint of sleep was associated with self-reported psychiatric problems based on Youth Self Report (YSR). The study builds on a community cohort born in 1998, Helsinki, Finland. At age 17 years (mean age = 16.9, SD = 0.1 years), 183 adolescents (65.6% of the invited) participated in the study. We used the shortened version of the Horne-Östberg morningness–eveningness Questionnaire to define the chronotype, and actigraphs to define the naturally occur circadian rhythm over a 4 to 17 days’ period (mean nights N = 8.3, SD = 1.8). The Achenbach software was used to obtain T-score values for YSR psychiatric problem scales. The analyses were adjusted for important covariates including gender, socioeconomic status, body mass index, pubertal maturation, mother’s licorice consumption during pregnancy, and actigraph-defined sleep duration and quality. Eveningness was associated with higher scores in rule-breaking behavior and conduct problems (as assessed either by midpoint of sleep or by self-reported chronotype, p-values <0.05), attention deficit/hyperactivity problems (by self-reported chronotype, p-values <0.05), with affective problems (by midpoint of sleep and by self-reported chronotype, p-values <0.05) and somatic complaints (by self-reported chronotype, p-values <0.05), as compared to circadian tendency toward morningness. Our results suggest that the association between eveningness and externalizing problem behavior, present in children and younger adolescents, is also present in late adolescence when circadian rhythms shift toward evening.  相似文献

A group of 14-healthy men performed anisotonic isometric contractions (AIC), for 60 s, at an intensity of 100% maximal voluntary contraction force (MVC) during handgrip (HG) and leg extension (LE). Heart rate (f c), stroke volume index (SVI) and cardiac output index (QcI) were measured during the last 10 s of both AIC by an impedance reography method. Force (F) exerted by the subjects was recorded continuously and reported as a relative force (F r) (% MVC). The F generated during MVC was greater for LE than for HG (502.I N compared to 374.6 N, P < 0.001). The rate of decrease in F r was significantly slower for LE than HG for the first 25 s of the exercise (phase 1 of AIC). The F r developed by the subjects at the end of AIC was 40% MVC for both LE and HG. The increase in f c was greater for LE (63 beats · min–1) than for HG (52 beats · min–1), P < 0.01. The SVI decreased significantly from the resting level by 17.0 ml · m–2 and by 18.2 ml · m–2 for LE and HG, respectively. The QcI increased insignificantly for HG by 0.091 · min–1 · m–2 andsignificantly forLE by 0.561 · min–1 · m–2 (P < 0.001). It was concluded that although both AIC caused a significant decrease in SVI, greater increases in f c and Qc were observed for LE than for HG. The greater f c and Qc reported during LE was probably related to the greater relative force exerted by LE during phase 1 of AIC. It seems, therefore that central command might have dominated for phase 1 of AIC but that the muscle reflex also contributed significantly to the control of the cardiac response to the high intensity AIC.  相似文献
