Abstract:  The endoparasitoid Thripobius semiluteus Bouček was recently introduced to Italy from Israel for the biological control of Heliothrips haemorrhoidalis (Bouché). In this study, some aspects of the biology of T. semiluteus were determined in the laboratory. Developmental time (egg to adult), potential fecundity, realized fecundity, progeny, daily rate of deposition of eggs and several demographic growth parameters were evaluated. Studies of the longevity of fed and starved adults at seven temperatures (3, 10, 15, 20, 23, 25 and 30 ± 1°C) showed that fed T. semiluteus lived longest at 15°C (36.45 days) and shortest at 3°C (1.45 days). Longevity was reduced significantly at higher and lower temperatures than 15°C and when honey was not provided. Development time was measured at six temperatures. Pupae did not complete development at 10°C. The lower theoretical temperature threshold was 9.0°C; the optimum developmental temperature and the upper lethal threshold were 28.0°C and 34.1°C respectively. The most rapid development was found at 30°C, but waSPS suffered significantly higher mortality at this temperature than at other temperatures. Ovigeny index showed that T. semiluteus is synovigenic, with a mean realized fecundity of 78.8 eggs per female. The mean progeny was 68.2 adults per female on fed adults.  相似文献

The ectoparasitoid Habrobracon hebetor Say (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) is an important biological control agent for lepidopterous pests of stored products. We investigated the effects of low temperature storage on the quality of adult parasitoids and their progeny. Newly emerged females were stored for 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 70 days at 5 ± 1 °C. Several reproductive and developmental parameters were then assessed to determine the quality of the adult parasitoids and their progeny. After more than 30 days of storage, there was a decrease in parental parasitism, but low temperature storage of parents had no effect on parasitism of the F1 generation. Parental longevity and fecundity decreased after more than 20 days of storage, but there was no effect of storage duration on the fecundity and longevity of the F1 generation until a storage duration of 50 days. Development time varied with storage duration but differences were within 2 days. Storage duration had no effect on the sex ratio of F1 and F2 generations. Our data show that H. hebetor can be cold stored for up to 20 days without adversely affecting the performance of the parasitoid. Therefore, short-term storage of H.hebetor adults could be used for maintaining and accumulating large numbers of parasitoids in mass rearing programs.  相似文献

Oomyzus sokolowskii, an important parasitoid of Plutella xylostella, has great potential for use in biological control. Storage at suboptimal temperature is valuable for increasing the shelf‐life of insect parasitoids. In this study, O. sokolowskii larvae were reared at 30/25, 25/25 and 25/20°C light/dark (65 ± 5% RH, 16 : 8 h L : D) until pupation. The pupae were then cold‐stored at 4 ± 1°C (60 ± 5% RH, full darkness). The pupae were removed out from the storage at 10, 20, 30 and 40 days after storage (DAS) and maintained at 25 ± 2°C until adults emerged or pupae died. Quality of the emerging adults and their F1 offspring were assessed. Incidence of parasitism by O. sokolowskii was higher at 30/25°C than at 25/20°C. Cold storage of O. sokolowskii pupae greatly affected the fitness of the parasitoid: adult emergence rates were lower in the 40 DAS treatment than in other treatments; when O. sokolowskii larvae developed at 25/25°C, female proportions of the emerged adults were lower in the 40 DAS treatment than in the 0 and 10 DAS treatments. Larval rearing temperature mildly affected the adult emergence rate, post‐storage developmental time and female proportion with a few exceptions. Number of parasitoids emerged per host pupa, and incidence of parasitism by the females were neither affected by larval rearing temperature nor cold storage duration. Trans‐generational effects on F1 offspring were evident in adult emergence rate, egg‐adult developmental time and female proportion which were negatively affected by long duration of storage (40 days), but not by larval rearing temperature with a few exceptions. In conclusion, O. sokolowskii pupae could be stored at 4°C for up to 30 days without significant fitness loss.  相似文献

哈氏啮小蜂Tetrastichus hagenowii(Ratzeburg)是卫生害虫蜚蠊的重要天敌昆虫, 能寄生多种蜚蠊种类的卵荚, 被认为是控制蜚蠊危害最具潜力的天敌昆虫。本文对哈氏啮小蜂雌蜂的繁殖生物学特性进行了系统研究。结果表明: 哈氏啮小蜂行孤雌生殖和两性生殖的繁殖方式, 两性生殖其子代雌蜂所占比例为46.02%, 而孤雌生殖其子代均为雄性。经解剖镜检证实: 雌蜂发育至性成熟时的两侧卵巢结构呈现为, 每侧卵巢有8~12根卵巢管, 每根卵巢管怀卵量约1~6粒。结果发现雌蜂发育日期影响其怀卵数量, 1日龄哈氏啮小蜂怀卵量低, 平均为45.2粒/♀; 2日龄哈氏啮小蜂怀卵量较高, 平均为80.1粒/♀。哈氏啮小蜂羽化后即性成熟产卵, 产卵期为4~11 d, 日产卵量为0.86~7.57粒/♀, 单雌一生平均寄生1枚美洲大蠊卵荚。供试寄主卵荚密度是影响哈氏啮小蜂寄生率的重要因素, 在蜂卵荚比例为1∶5, 1∶3, 1∶2, 1∶1, 2∶1和3∶1范围内, 哈氏啮小蜂对卵荚的寄生率随着雌蜂数量与寄主卵荚比例的提高而增加, 然单雌寄生卵荚数量却呈下降趋势。  相似文献

This experimental study was done at the Biological Control Laboratory, Sakha Agricultural Research Station, Sakha, Kafrelsheikh, Egypt. We aimed to estimate the impact of different cold (10 °C) storage durations [0 (non-cold-stored parasitized eggs), 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, and 30 days], on Trichogramma evanescens (Westwood) (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) during the pupal stage using the eggs of Sitotroga cerealella after exposing to T. evanescens. The emergence percentage of non-cold-stored eggs of S. cerealella was higher than all cold-stored durations. Also, the female’s percentages of T. evanescens in the cold storage durations were lower than the non-cold storage one, and they were influenced by extended cold storage durations. There were non-significant differences in the female’s longevity of T. evanescens obtained from 0, 3, and 6 days cold-stored parasitized eggs of S. cerealella at 10 °C, but it began to decrease from those produced after 9 days of cold-stored eggs. In addition, the emergence percentage in F1 progeny of T. evanescens was greater than 50% until 21 days of cold storage. It could be concluded that cold storage reduced the % emergence, % females, female’s longevity, and emergence percentage in F1 progeny of T. evanescens. For a successful biological control program, the decrease of T. evanescens performance after cold storage durations should be considered in mass production, and the release percentage should be increased by the equivalent of a lack of % emergence. Also, the economic importance of using cold storage periods in commercial mass rearing should be assessed in the biological control program.  相似文献

Cold storage can be used to slow development, facilitate accumulation of the organisms and accommodate fluctuating demand for augmentative biological control agents. Previous research suggested the possibility of improving cold storage of Trichogrammatids by recurrent warming, so we subjected Trichogramma ostriniae juveniles within Ephestia kuehniella host eggs to either 2°C constant or to 2°C with twice-weekly recurrent warming for 3 h to 20°C. Parasitoid subsamples were allowed to mature for 1–9 days before placement in cold storage for up to 8 weeks. Parasitism by parentals, progeny emergence and fecundity and longevity of progeny were measured weekly for 8 weeks. Relative to constant 2°C, recurrent warming generally improved emergence, fecundity and longevity, and all the response variables were affected by the interaction of temperature regimen, parasitoid maturity class, and cold storage duration. This implies the utility of recurrent warming to improve egg parasitoid performance and for extending the duration of cold storage.  相似文献

Chouioia cunea Yang (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) is an effective parasitoid of many lepidopteran pests in China. Specifically, C. cunea has successfully suppressed populations of the fall webworm, Hyphantria cunea (Drury) (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae), an invasive and quarantined pest in China. Fall webworm biological control programmes in China have been aided by the development of artificial rearing technology for C. cunea. While researchers have determined some aspects of this parasitoid’s biology, such as fecundity and ratio of female offspring, as well as rearing methods, there was less information on the behavioural and ecological mechanisms by which C. cunea regulates host populations. Here, we review the research and application of C. cunea since it was first discovered in China.  相似文献

The biology of the parasitoid Tetrastichus howardi, which was introduced from the Philippines into South Africa for the biological control of the stem borer Chilo partellus, was studied in the laboratory. On average, a T. howardi female produced 101 progeny (92% females) which developed in 4.3 hosts. The upper threshold temperature for development was around 33°C, the minimum threshold was calculated as 12.8°C and the thermal constant as 239.8 day‐degrees. With hosts, females lived 23.6 and males 16.7 days. T. howardi was found to be a facultative hyperparasitoid with a very wide host range. As a primary parasitoid, it developed in pupae of various Lepidoptera as well as Coleoptera and Hymenoptera and as a hyperparasitoid in dipteran and hymenopteran parasitoids. A linear relation was found between the number of emergent parasitoids and the volume of the host from which they emerged. Preference tests indicated that T. howardi preferred to parasitize the phytophagous insects C. partellus and Heliothis armigera, over their parasitoids Xanthopimpla stemmator and Palexorista laxa. The host selection of inexperienced T. howardi females was different from the experienced parasitoids. When given a choice, females showed preference for the host species they were allowed to parasitize previously and the host species from which they had been reared. The use of facultative hyperparasitoids in biological control in general and against stem borers in South Africa in particular is discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

Trichogramma cacoeciae Marchall, T. brassicae Bezdenko and T. evanescens Westwood could be useful in biological control programmes of agricultural insect pest. The possibility of storing adult Trighogramma species at low temperatures, and the effect of such storage on the quality of the parasitoids and its fecundity were studied. Trighogramma cacoeciae, T. brassicae and T. evanescens adults were stored for 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 days at 4 ± 1°C in a refrigerator, 60 – 70%RH and full darkness. Storage at 4 ± 1°C reduced fecundity and longevity of female parasitoids.  相似文献

We report the occurrence of Trichospilus pupivorus Ferrière, 1930 (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) parasitizing pupae of Thagona tibialis Walker, 1855 (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae) collected on Terminalia catappa L. (Combretaceae) tree in Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Fifty to 75 parasitoids emerged from three pupae of Th. tibialis. This is the first record of Tr. pupivorus for the American continent and a new host record.

异色瓢虫被认为是一种重要的捕食性天敌,常被用来防治蚜虫、介壳虫、叶螨等害虫。为了更好地开发利用东北地区丰富的越冬代异色瓢虫自然资源,本研究调查了低温冷藏(3℃冷藏0,30,60,90,120,150 d)对吉林采集的越冬代异色瓢虫繁殖及其子代生长发育和捕食能力的影响。研究结果表明,经历90 d冷藏的瓢虫产卵量最大,明显高于冷藏60 d个体的产卵量,与冷藏120 d、150 d及未经冷藏个体的产卵量不存在明显差异;经历不同冷藏期的瓢虫与室内人工饲养种群子代具有相似发育历期(约16.0 d);而且长期冷藏也未对瓢虫子代幼期的捕食能力产生负面影响,冷藏150 d瓢虫的子代在整个幼虫阶段能捕食662.8头蚜虫,与未冷藏个体和人工饲养种群个体不存在明显差异。本研究为开发利用东北地区越冬代异色瓢虫自然资源的生物防治作用提供了理论依据。  相似文献

Aphidius matricariae Haliday (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) is a polyphagous solitary endoparasitoid, attacking more than 40 species of aphids. This parasitoid is an important commercial product of many companies that produce biological control agents. Storage at low temperature increases the shelf life of many biocontrol agents, allowing companies to provide a steady and sufficient supply of insects for biocontrol programs. In the current study, the effects of cold storage of 1-day-old host mummies with A. matricariae for various time periods (5, 10, 15, 20, and 30 days) at 5 °C on the parasitoid’s key life-history traits were investigated. Parameters assessed after storage included adult emergence rate, offspring sex ratio, adult longevity, oviposition period, fecundity, and life-table parameters (R0, r, λ, T, and DT). Our results showed that the mummies of A. matricariae could be stored at 5 °C for 5 days without loss of quality and for 10–15 days with minimal reduction in quality (e.g., some reduction in adult longevity and R0). If parasitoids were stored for >15 days, quality was more strongly affected. In conclusion, A. matricariae pupae could be stored at 5 °C for up to 15 days without significant negative post-storage effects on fitness of the parasitoid. These results could be used to improve the planning of mass rearing and mass release of A. matricariae in augmentative biological control programs.  相似文献

为了研究白蛾周氏啮小蜂对侵入性害虫-美国白蛾的控制作用,在山东省烟台市美国白蛾发生区,选择美国白蛾发生程度中等的两块样地,一块样地作为释放白蛾周氏啮小蜂防治美国白蛾的防治区,另一块样地作为对照区。应用生命表技术,连续2年共4代对美国白蛾种群数量进行定点观察。防治区每代美国白蛾在化蛹初期和化蛹盛期各放蜂1次,即每代美国白蛾共放蜂2次。将2年的第1代和第2代观测数据分别综合平均,制成4个生命表。结果表明,在放蜂防治区,第1代和第2代美国白蛾的种群趋势指数(I)分别为0.29和0.14,说明下代美国白蛾种群数量将急剧下降;放蜂区的I值显著小于对照区的8.74和4.48。生命表研究结果清楚地表明,通过人工释放白蛾周氏啮小蜂能够达到良好的控制美国白蛾的效果。  相似文献

Abstract Field doses of six selected insecticides were tested against the immature (pupae) and mature (adult) stages of Diadegma semiclausum (Hellén) and Oomyzus sokolowskii (Kurdjumov), parasitoids of the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (L.). Effects of contact toxicity (direct spraying) of the six insecticides on emergence of parasitoids were found negligible on both species except permethrin which caused 37.5% mortality. All adults of both parasitoid species died 24 hours after exposure to chlorfenapyr, emamectin benzoate and permethrin. In contrast, the three insect growth regulators (IGRs), chlorfluazuron, flufenoxuron and teflubenzuron, were found harmless to both species, and adult mortality of both parasitoid species was 0–16.7%. However, parasitism by the females of both parasitoid species was severely impaired when the females were offered the three IGR diluted solutions for 24 hours. Effects of oral toxicities of the IGRs on longevity of both parasitoids after 12 hours exposure were found to be significantly different between males and females. Compatibility of tested insecticides with D. semiclausum and O. sokolowskii and integration of compatible insecticides with these parasitoids in integrated pest management programs of crucifers are discussed.  相似文献

为了阐明环境因子对草地螟阿格姬蜂Agrypon flexorium (Thunberg)滞育诱导作用, 测定了5个光周期和4个温度处理对阿格姬蜂的滞育诱导和该蜂感受光周期的敏感虫态以及不同时间段低温贮藏对滞育虫茧的影响。结果表明: 在17~23℃、 光照时间10~14 h范围内, 随着温度的降低和光照时间的缩短, 滞育率明显提高。高温能抵消短光照对滞育诱导的影响, 在26℃下, 短光照不能诱导滞育。因此, 低温和短光照是诱导草地螟阿格姬蜂滞育的主要因子。草地螟阿格姬蜂感受滞育信号的敏感虫态为卵和1龄幼虫。卵和1龄幼虫感受滞育信号以后, 需要在滞育环境中发育到老熟幼虫才能全部进入滞育。将室内诱导的滞育茧在4℃左右环境条件下冷藏80 d, 成蜂的羽化率和寄生能力与没有冷藏的非滞育茧差异不显著, 冷藏120 d, 滞育茧仍有71.7%可以正常羽化。结果说明,可在17℃,光周期8L∶16D条件下对寄生后3 d内的草地螟Loxostege sticticalis幼虫进行滞育诱导, 滞育后的虫茧最佳贮藏时间为80 d, 不宜超过120 d。本研究为室内扩繁、 防止蜂源退化、 控制寄生蜂发育时间以便适时释放提供了参考依据。  相似文献

Abstract Liriomyza trifolii is an important pest of vegetables and ornamental crops around the world. This pest is attacked by many parasitoid species. The principal management tactic used against L. trifolii is insecticide application. Insecticides vary in their effects on parasitoid species and insecticides that have less harmful effects should be preferred for the control of this pest. In this study, novaluron, abamectin, λ‐cyhalothrin and spinetoram were investigated for their lethal effects on adults of Neochrysocharis formosa and Ganaspidium nigrimanus, two important parasitoids of L. trifolii. Three different bioassays were used on adult parasitoids: direct insecticide application, insecticide intake and insecticide residue. Adult parasitoid response to novaluron exhibited the least lethal effects among the bioassays and insecticides tested. Abamectin had significant mortality to both parasitoid species in the direct application and insecticide intake bioassays and mortality were high for G. nigrimanus in the residue bioassay. Spinetoram was the most harmful insecticide to the adult parasitoids in all three bioassays. λ‐cyhalothrin effects varied between the two parasitoids. In the direct application, it was harmful to G. nigrimanus and had no effect on N. formosa. In the insecticide intake bioassay λ‐cyhalothrin had no effect in survival of either species, and in the residue bioassay it reduced parasitoid survival of both species. Potential tolerance of N. formosa to λ‐cyhalothrin is discussed.  相似文献

为了全面评价冷贮对米蛾Corcyra cephalonica Stainton卵繁育螟黄赤眼蜂Trichogramma chilonis Ishii的影响, 本试验采用米蛾卵为寄主, 以冷贮温度(3和10℃)、 冷贮虫龄(以接蜂开始时间为起点, 接蜂后1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8和9日龄)和冷贮时间(1, 2, 3和4周)为试验因子, 研究了冷贮对螟黄赤眼蜂活蛹率、 羽化率和畸形率的影响。结果表明: 3个因素均能单独或互作显著影响活蛹率、 羽化率和畸形率(P<0.05)。综合各冷贮虫龄对低温的反应, 螟黄赤眼蜂对3℃较敏感, 此温度下1-3日龄的活蛹率和各虫龄的羽化率均显著下降(P<0.05), 不适宜长期冷贮; 10℃下各虫龄的活蛹率受冷贮时间的影响不显著, 1-3日龄的羽化率受冷贮时间的影响也不显著, 冷贮4周后仍有74%以上的羽化率, 10℃适宜冷贮。不同冷贮温度下冷贮适宜虫龄不同。在10℃下, 最适冷贮虫龄是3日龄的赤眼蜂, 此虫龄不同冷贮时间的活蛹率(74.09%~77.59%)和羽化率(74.26%~90.37%)均与对照无显著差异(P>0.05), 但显著高于其他虫龄(P<0.05)。此虫龄在10℃下冷贮1~3周, 畸形率在27%以内。结果表明米蛾卵内螟黄赤眼蜂不同冷贮温度下适宜冷贮虫龄不同。  相似文献

【目的】为明确诱导管侧沟茧蜂Microplitis tuberculifer 滞育的主要因子,在田间和室内研究了不同温度和光周期下管侧沟茧蜂的滞育率和滞育茧的最佳冷藏温度。【方法】田间实验分别从8月31日到9月25日每隔5 d在室外罩笼内释放管侧沟茧蜂寄生的粘虫幼虫,待寄生蜂结茧后统计子代蜂的滞育率。室内实验共设5个不同温度(16℃, 18℃, 20℃, 22℃和24℃)和7个不同光周期(6L:18D, 8L:16D, 10L:14D, 12L:12D, 14L:10D, 16L:8D和18L:6D),分别统计寄生蜂在各个处理条件下的滞育率。【结果】在河北中部地区秋季自然条件下,8月底当日平均气温为24.4℃,日平均光照时间为12 h 51 min 时,少数蛹(5.08%)开始进入滞育;9月25日,当日平均气温为17.2℃,日平均光照时间为11 h 36 min以下时,几乎所有蛹个体进入滞育,滞育率达到99.70%。在室内人工控制条件下,当温度为22℃以上,无论光周期如何变化,管侧沟茧蜂不能进入滞育,所结茧全部为非滞育茧。温度为22℃以下存在光周期反应,在温度16℃, 18℃和20℃,光周期10L:14D时形成滞育茧数量最多,滞育率分别为100%, 89.75% 和 29.58%。可见温度和光周期二者共同影响管侧沟茧蜂的滞育。滞育茧在0℃左右条件下冷藏 240 d 和5℃左右环境条件下冷藏180 d, 成虫的羽化率和寄生能力与发育茧差异不显著(P>0.05);0℃条件下冷藏300 d,滞育茧仍有79%可以正常羽化。【结论】该寄生蜂在秋季进入滞育主要是低温条件和短光照反应相互作用的结果,滞育茧在0℃和5℃温度下至少可以保存240 d。这些结果对管侧沟茧蜂的大规模繁殖和滞育茧的保存具有重要参考价值。  相似文献
