An acidic polysaccharide isolated from the seeds of Ocimum basilicum by DEAE-cellulose fractionation was ~92% pure, having an associated glucan impurity (~8%). The polysaccharide is composed of d-xylose, l-arabinose, l-rhamnose, and d-galacturonic acid in the molar ratios 15:9:7:12, together with traces or galactose and glucose. Methylation analysis indicated that the polysaccharide contained a (1→4)-linked xylan backbone carrying branch-points at C-2 and C-3 of the xylosyl residues, and revealed the structural features of the side chains. Periodateoxidation and Smith-degradation studies support the results of methylation analysis. 相似文献

A water-soluble, acidic polysaccharide, aquilinan, was isolated from storage rhizomes and young fronds of bracken and shown to be homogeneous. The polysaccharide contained galactose, xylose, fucose and arabinose residues together with chains of repeating α(1-2′)glucuronosylmannose units. Vicilin from pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan) seeds was purified and characterised. It has a M, of ca 180 000 and consists of two types of subunits having M,s of ca 72 000 and 57 000. The subunits are not linked by disulphide bonds. The vicilin of pigeon pea differs from that of Pisum or Vicia in the absence of small M, subunits. 相似文献

A polysaccharide consisting of D-galactose, D-mannose, and D-xylose in the molecular ratios 5:1:2 has been isolated from the defatted seeds of Cassia multijuga. Methylation analysis yielded 2,3-di-O-methyl-D-galactose (2 mol), 2,3,6-tri-O-methyl-D-galactose (4 mol), 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-methyl-D-galactose (4 mol), 2,3-di-O-methyl-D-mannose (2 mol), 2-O-methyl-D-xylose (1 mol), 2,3-di-O-methyl-D-xylose (2 mol), and 2,3,4-tri-O-methyl-D-xylose (1 mol). Periodate oxidation indicated 32.4% of end-groups and methylation indicated 31.2%. Partial hydrolysis with acid gave 6-O-α-D-galactosyl-D-galactose, 6-O-α-D-galactosyl-D-mannose, 4-O-β-D-galactosyl-D-xylose, and 3-O-β-D-xylosyl-D-xylose, together with monosaccharides. The polysaccharide is highly branched, consisting of galactosyl, mannosyl, and xylosyl residues in the main chain, with (1→4)-β linkages, and galactosyl and xylosyl end-groups. 相似文献

Three new diterpenoids have been detected in Salvia oxyodon and identified as 3β-hydroxy-dehydroabietic acid, 3β-acetoxy-abieta-8(14)-en-18-oic acid 9α,13α-endoperoxide and 3β-hydroxy-abieta-8(14)-en-18-oic acid 9α,13α-endoperoxide. Alkali-soluble polysaccharides, isolated from the seeds of dates, have been investigated using methylation and partial hydrolysis studies. The polysaccharides are shown to contain D-xylose and 4-O-methyl-D-glucuronic acid in a molar ratio of 5:1. An aldobiouronic acid from hemicellulose was characterized, and investigation revealed that the hemicellulose consists of a polymer of (1-->4)-linked D-xylopranosyl residues having branches of D-xylopyranosyl and 4-O-methyl-alpha-D-glucopyranosyluronic acid. 相似文献

Gum-tears from the leaves of Welwitschia mirabilis contain a polysaccharide composed of arabinose, galactose and glucuronic acid as main constituents with xylose, fucose and rhamnose in smaller quantities. Periodate oxidation and permethylation studies indicated that the gum could consist of a framework of glucuronic acid residues linked 1 → 4 and galactose residues linked 1 → 6 and of short chains of arabinose, xylose, fucose and rhamnose linked 1 → 3 to both residues. The seeds of Anthocephalus indicus contain a water-soluble polysaccharide composed of D-xylose, D-mannose, and D-glucose in the molar ratios 1:3:5. Methylation analysis afforded 2,3,4-tri-O-methyl-D-xylose, 2,3,6,-tri-O-methyl-D-mannose, 2,3,6-tri-O-methyl-D-glucose, 2,3-di-O-methyl-D-glucose, and 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-methyl-D-glucose in the molar ratios 7:21:12:15:8. Periodate oxidation and methylation data indicated 22.5% and 21.9% of end groups, respectively. The above findings, together with the results of partial hydrolysis with acid, indicate the polysaccharide to consist of a linear chain of (1→4)-linked β-D-mannosyl and β-D-glucosyl residues to which α-D-xylosyl and β-D-glucosyl groups are attached by (1→6)-linkages. 相似文献
