Lactating Holstein cows were used to determine if pregnancy rate from embryo transfer (n = 113) differed from contemporary control cows (n = 524) that were artificially inseminated (AI). Holstein heifers (n = 55) were superovulated with FSH-P (32 mg total) and inseminated artificially during estrus and subsequently managed under shade structures. On Day 7 post estrus, embryos were recovered, and primarily excellent to good quality embryos (90.3%) were transferred to estrus-synchronized lactating cows. Cows were managed under conditions of exposure to summer heat stress. Pregnancy status was determined by milk progesterone concentrations at Day 21 and palpation per rectum at 45 to 60 d post estrus. Pregnancy rates of cows presented for AI (Day 21, 18.0%; Days 45 to 60, 13.5%) were typical for lactating cows inseminated during periods of summer heat stress in Florida. Pregnancy rates of embryo recipient cows were higher (P<0.001) than those of control cows (Day 21, 47.6%; Days 45 to 60, 29.2%). Summer heat stress had no adverse effect on heifer superovulatory response, but it increased (P<0.05) the incidence of retarded embryos (相似文献

Morphologically normal embryos were transferred surgically into uteri of normal and repeat-breeder cows at seven days post-estrus to compare embryo survival rates in the two kinds of cows. All cows were less than ten years of age and had no abnormal genital discharges, cystic ovarian follicles, or anatomical abnormalities of the reproductive tract. Normal cows had not been inseminated after last calving. Repeat-breeders had at least four infertile services within the past six months (average of 6.2 services after calving). To test fertility of repeat-breeders at synchronized estrus, 22 anatomically-normal repeat-breeders were treated by intramuscular (i.m.) injection with prostaglandin F(2)alpha (PGF(2)alpha) on day 11 of an estrous cycle (estrus = day 0) and inseminated at induced estrus; 11 cows (50%) had a normal fetus at necropsy on day 60. Twenty-three repeat-breeders and 23 normal cows were assigned as embryo recipients and treated i.m. with PGF(2)alpha to synchronize estrus. All embryo donors were normal cows. Donors were treated with FSH and PGF(2)alpha and inseminated at estrus. On day 7 after estrus, embryos were recovered nonsurgically from donors and one embryo was transferred through a flank incision to the anterior end of the uterine horn adjacent to the corpus luteum of each recipient. Recipients that did not return to estrus were necropsied at day 60. Of 28 normal and 23 repeat-breeder recipients, 23 normal cows (82%) and 16 repeat breeders (70%) were pregnant at day 60 (P=0.235). Thus, at seven days post-estrus, the maternal environment of most of these repeat-breeders was satisfactory for maintaining pregnancy.  相似文献

One group of 125 Hereford cows from a range herd served as a control, while five management techniques were utilized to determine if reproductive performance could be maximized in another similar group from the same ranch. These five techniques were 60-d calving season, cows in moderate body condition at calving time, calf removal for 48 h at the start of breeding season, cows gaining weight near breeding time, and cows bred by bulls predicted to have high fertility (O'Connor Management System). Under the O'Connor Management System, 6% more cows became pregnant, 14% more weaned calves and calves were born 24 d earlier in the calving season. Consequently, calves weighed 14 kg more at weaning and net profit was increased approximately $39 per cow for cows in the O'Connor system.  相似文献

Data on 944 calves from 2228 in vitro-produced (IVP) bovine preimplantation embryos were compared with data on 2787 AI calves born in the same herds in 1995. Bovine preimplantation embryos were produced in vitro following ovum pick up (OPU) from donor cows and pregnant heifers in an open nucleus breeding program. After 7 d of in vitro culture on a BRL cell monolayer in the presence of 10% FCS, frozen-thawed expanded blastocysts and fresh morulae to expanded blastocysts were transferred into recipient heifers and cows at 119 contracted farms throughout the Netherlands. The pregnancy rate, as confirmed by palpation per rectum between 90 and 150 d after transfer was 43.5% for both fresh and frozen embryos. Data on IVP and AI calves were registered by the farmers. The percentage of calves with a congenital malformation and the percentage of male calves were related to the total number of calves born. Gestation length, birth weight (measured by a balance), perinatal mortality and ease of calving were analyzed in a subdataset (699 IVP and 2543 AI calves, respectively) by a comparative analysis of variance (ANOVA). The ANOVA model included herd, month of calving, sire nested within AI or IVP, parity and breed of the inseminated cow/embryo recipient, sex of calf, type of calf (AI or IVP) and two-way interactions between type of calf and sex, parity and breed. The percentage of calves with congenital malformations was 3.2% and 0.7% for IVP and AI calves, respectively. An increased incidence of hydro-allantois and abnormal spinal cords and limbs was observed in IVP calves. The percentage of male calves was significantly different between IVP and AI, 55.5% and 48.9%, respectively (Chi-square, 1 degree of freedom, P < 0.05). On the average, IVP calves showed a significant increase of birth weight by 10% (4-5 kg), a 3-d longer gestation period, 2.4% more perinatal mortality and a more difficult calving process compared to AI calves (P < 0.05). From these results it is concluded that calves produced by IVP deviate significantly from calves produced by AI.  相似文献

Trials were conducted in 1980 and 1981 to evaluate the effects of once-daily suckling, twice-daily suckling, 48-h calf removal, and Norgestomet on performance of spring-calving cows and their calves. Eighty-three and 73 Polled Hereford and 29 and 42 Simmental-cross cows were utilized in 1980 and 1981, respectively. Cows were allotted by age, breed, calving date and winter nutrition treatment to one of four groups: 1) once-daily suckle for 24 d starting 11 d before the beginning of the breeding season, 2) twice-daily suckle (same time frame as 1), 3) 48-h calf removal ending immediately before the breeding season, 4) calves remained with cows (controls). One-half.of each group was implanted with Norgestomet from 11 until 2 d before the start of the breeding season. Once- and twice-daily suckling increased (P<0.05) the percentage of noncycling cows showing estrus the first 3 wk after the start of treatment. Pregnancy rates for the breeding season were higher (P<0.1) in the once-daily suckle and 48-h calf removal groups for cows that had not exhibited estrus before the beginning of treatment. Norgestomet increased (P<0.05) the percentage of cows showing estrus within 3 wk after the start of treatment within the 48-h calf-removal and control groups. Milk production was not affected (P>0.1) by suckling treatment. Calf weight gains during suckling treatment were greater (P<0.05) in control and twice-daily suckled calves than in 48-h calf removal or once-daily suckled calves. Suckling treatment did not affect (P>0.1) adjusted weaning weights of calves or frequency and duration of suckling recorded 2 wk after the end of suckling treatment.  相似文献

We concurrently evaluated early weaning and once-daily suckling as options for shortening postpartum interval to estrus in primiparous cows calving in good body condition. Over 2 consecutive years, a total of 77 primiparous cows were assigned to 1 of 3 treatments: control (ad libitum suckling); once-daily suckling (for 30 d prior to start of breeding); or early weaning (calves weaned 30 d prior to start of breeding). All cows had a body condition score (BCS) of > or = 5 at parturition and were maintained in good condition throughout the breeding season. Cows were observed for estrus twice daily and blood samples for subsequent measurement of progesterone were collected at 48-h intervals. For data analysis, cows were divided into early- (> or = 85 d post partum) and late-calving (< 85 d post partum) groups at the onset of the breeding season. All calves were weighed at birth, at the onset of treatment, at weekly intervals until the start of the breeding season, and within 45 d of 205 d of age. Early weaning or once-daily suckling shortened the postpartum interval to first estrus of late-calving primiparous cows by 17 (P < 0.01) and 12 d (P < 0.08), respectively, compared with control group cows. However, among early-calving cows, neither early weaning nor once-daily suckling influenced the postpartum interval. Postpartum intervals of once-daily suckled cows and early-weaned cows were similar (P > 0.10).  相似文献

A commercially viable cattle embryo transfer industry was established during the early 1970s. Initially, techniques for transferring cattle embryos were exclusively surgical. However, by the early 1980s, most embryos were transferred nonsurgically. For an embryo transfer program to be effective, numerous factors need to be in place to ensure success. Nutrition, estrous cycle control, and recipient management are all responsible for the success or failure in fertility for a given herd. Utilization of body condition scores is a practical method to determine nutritional status of the recipient herd. Prepartum nutrition is critical to ensure that cows calve in adequate body condition to reinitiate postpartum estrous cycles early enough to respond to synchronization protocols. Estrus synchronization for embryo transfer after detected estrus or for fixed-time embryo transfer without estrus detection are effective methods to increase the number of calves produced by embryo transfer. In addition, resynchronization of nonpregnant recipients effectively ensures that a high percentage of recipients will return to estrus during a 72 h interval and are eligible for subsequent embryo transfers. Numerous additional factors need to be assessed to ensure that the recipient herd achieves its reproductive potential. These factors include assessing the merits of nulliparous, primiparous, or multiparous cows, ensuring that facilities allow for minimal stress, and that the herd health program is well-defined and followed. Numerous short- and long-term factors contribute to recipients conceiving to a transferred embryo, maintaining the embryo/fetus to term, delivering the calf without assistance and raising and weaning a healthy calf.  相似文献

Short estrous cycles in beef cows were investigated in two experiments. In trial 1, breeding dates from 2,854 fall-calving Angus cows were used to determine the incidence of short estrous cycles. Of 198 cycles of less than 17 days, 170 were between the first and second detected estrus. Estrous cycles of 7 to 10 days occurred more frequently (P<.005) than other short estrous cycles. Eight-day estrous cycles were most frequent. In the second experiment, calves were weaned from 25 of 33 anestrous spring-calving, crossbred Simmental cows. Compared to herdmates still nursing calves, an increased percentage of cows which had calves weaned were observed in estrus within 10 and 25 days after the date of weaning (P<.005) and a higher percentage had 7- to 10-day estrous cycles. Cows that were observed in estrus within 10 days after weaning were inseminated with Angus semen at their first estrus and with Simmental semen at their second estrus. No cows conceived on the first estrus of 7- to 10-day estrous cycles; 61.5% conceived on the second estrus. Serum progesterone was higher (P<.01) before the second estrus than the first.  相似文献

Non-surgical transfer of one embryo to 63 previously synchronized inseminated recipients was performed on farms to induce twinning in beef and dairy cattle. All the transfers were done by technicians of A.I. centers. After calving, a twinning rate of 44.4% was achieved with no differences between beef Charolais heifers (45.4%), lactating Normande cows (42.8%) and dairy Friesian cows (45.4%). Compared with controls, the calving crop after a three-breeding-cycle period was significantly higher with recipients: 1.16 calf per treated recipient vs. 0.83 calf per control animal. It would seem that the possibility of obtaining about one-third more calves with embryo transfer could be of economical interest to increase meat production from cattle herds.  相似文献

The objective of this experiment was to determine the effect of prepartum lipid supplementation on the number and quality of embryos recovered following ovarian super-ovulation in postpartum suckled beef cows. Mature cows (n = 40) were assigned to one of two treatments (lipid versus. no lipid) and supplemented for approximately 40 days prior to calving. Supplements provided to cows were isocaloric and isonitrogenous. The treatment group was fed 1.6 kg hd(-1) per day of whole soybeans (WSB; 19.8% ether extract, and 41.8% crude protein) and the control group received a supplement consisting of 1.8 kg hd(-1) day of a soybean meal and soy-hull combination (SBS; 2.15% EE and 36.81% CP). Cows were synchronized using a GnRH [Cystorelin((R)) 100 microg im]-GnRH-PGF(2alpha) [Lutalyse 25 mg im] protocol. Cows were administered two injections of GnRH seven days apart and PG seven days after the second GnRH injection. Twenty-eight cows (WSB, n = 15; SBS, n = 13) responded to estrus synchronization and were superstimulated. Super-ovulation was initiated on day 8-10 of the synchronized cycle by twice-daily injections of pFSH (Pluset) over four days in decreasing doses using a total of 608.4 IU per cow. Prostaglandin F(2alpha) was administered 96 and 108 h after super-stimulation was initiated with FSH. Days postpartum (WSB = 59 days; SBS = 57 days) at initiation of FSH treatments were similar (P > 0.10) for both treatments. Cows were monitored for estrus activity by the HeatWatch Estrus Detection System. Twenty-seven cows (WSB, n = 15; SBS, n = 12) exhibited estrus after FSH and inseminated at 0, 12, and 24 h after the onset of estrus with 1, 2, and 1 units of semen, respectively. Embryos were recovered and evaluated 7-8 days later. Only cows that responded to FSH and that were inseminated were used for statistical analysis. Data were analyzed using the General Linear Models Procedure of SAS. Body condition scores did not differ (P > 0.10) between treatments when cows were evaluated at the initiation of the experiment, two weeks prior to calving, and at initiation of superovulation with FSH. Estrous cyclicity prior to the initiation of estrus synchronization did not differ (P > 0.10) between treatments. There was no difference (P > 0.10) between treatments in recovery of total embryos (WSB, 14.7 +/- 3.5; SBS, 17.5 +/- 3.0), transferable embryos (WSB, 10.3 +/- 2.5; SBS, 13.6 +/- 2.6), degenerate embryos (WSB, 3.3 +/- 1.1; SBS, 1.6 +/- 1.7) or unfertilized ova (WSB, 1.1 +/- 0.5; SBS, 2.3 +/- 1.2). Cows that were supplemented with whole soybeans prior to parturition failed to produce an increased total number of ova or transferable embryos following super-ovulation.  相似文献

This study used data collected prospectively at 32 dairy herds to examine the effect of interval from breeding to uterine palpation for pregnancy diagnosis on calving interval and likelihood of calving. Multivariable statistical models were used to control for other factors that were significantly associated with the outcomes of interest. Cows diagnosed pregnant from 30 to 36 d post breeding had 2-wk longer calving intervals than cows palpated at later intervals. The interval from breeding until a cow was diagnosed open had a significant positive association with the calving interval. The interval to palpation was not associated with the probability of remaining in the herd to calve when controlling for the effects of herd, season of freshening, number of services, days to first service and mature equivalent milk production. Among cows diagnosed pregnant, 3.4% subsequently were bred and 1.5% were diagnosed open by palpation at a later date. About 5% of the cows diagnosed open calved at a time consistent with being pregnant when the diagnosis was made.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine the reproductive performance of lactating dairy cows treated with GnRH and/or PGF2a for synchronization of estrus and ovulation. Between Days 43 and 57 post partum, a total of 374 dairy cows was divided into 4 groups. Cows in Group 1 (n = 62) were treated with 25 mg, i.m. PGF2a on Days 43 and 57; cows in Group 2 (n = 65) were not treated at this time; cows in Group 3 (n = 118) were treated with 100 ug, i.m. GnRH on Day 50, 25 mg, i.m. PGF2a on Day 57, 100 ug, i.m. GnRH on Day 59, and time-inseminated 16 h later; cows in Group 4 (n = 129) were treated with 25 mg, i.m. PGF2a once on Day 57. Cows in Groups 1 and 4 were inseminated at an induced estrus within 7 d after the last PGF2a treatment, and cows in Group 2 were inseminated at a noninduced estrus within a corresponding period of time. Conception rate, estrus detection rate and pregnancy rate were analyzed using logistic regression, and controlled for lactation number, body condition score and time of year. Days from calving to conception were analyzed using the GLM procedures of SAS, and the model included group, body condition score, lactation number, time of year, and their interactions. Cows in Group 3 had a significantly higher pregnancy rate than cows in Groups 1, 2 and 4. Orthogonal contrasts of mean days from calving to conception showed that cows in Group 3 had significantly (P < 0.01) less days from calving to conception than cows in Group 1 and Group 4. There was a significant effect of time of year on pregnancy rate and days from calving to conception, but there was no interaction between time of year and these reproductive characteristics. There was no effect of body condition score and lactation number on the reproductive characteristics evaluated. From the results of this study, it was concluded that better reproductive performance was observed in cows inseminated at a synchronized ovulation than in those inseminated at a synchronized estrous period.  相似文献

The effects of body condition at calving and breeding and temporary calf removal prior to the start of the breeding season on reproductive performance of 323 cows from two breed groups were studied over two breeding seasons. Body condition score at calving was significantly and positively correlated with two body condition indices, which were based on weight-to-height ratio measured at calving and at the start of the breeding season. While the two body condition indices were strongly associated with the age of the cow, the body condition score, based on palpation and visual appraisal, was less affected by the age of the cow. Cows with a body condition score of 3.0 at calving had a shorter calving interval (P<0.02), higher pregnancy rate (P<0.08), and higher number of calves born (P<0.10) than cows which had body condition scores lower than 3.0 at calving. Temporary (48 h) calf removal prior to the start of the breeding season did not have a significant influence on the calving interval, pregnancy rate or the number of calves born nor on the weaning weights of their calves. Differences in reproductive performance between the two breed groups of cows were not significant.  相似文献

A dairy herd experienced an increased incidence of retained placenta and postpartum metritis during late spring and summer of 1977 and 1978. The incidence of retained placenta and postpartum metritis was 24.05% during the period of May through September compared to 12.24% the rest of the year. The gestation period of cows having retained placenta and postpartum metritis was an average of 5.25 days shorter than that of cows not exhibiting these symptoms. The gestation period of cows calving during the warm season was an average of 2.82 days shorter than that of the cows calving during the cool season. Heat stress resulting in early parturition was the probable cause of this increased incidence of retained placenta and postpartum metritis. The number of days open was influenced both by abnormal postpartum period and season of calving. Cows having retained placenta and metritis were open an average of 31.69 days longer than cows with normal postpartum periods. Cows that calved during the warm season were open an average of 24.42 days longer than those calving during the cool season.  相似文献

Two field trials were designed to evaluate use of the prostaglandin F analog cloprostenol (CP) in dairy cattle with unobserved estrus and a palpably mature corpus luteum (CL). In Trial 1, 98 cows were treated with CP (500 μg IM) and 83 were given saline. Cows in both groups were assigned to be inseminated based on observed signs of estrus. Cows treated with CP were inseminated sooner than controls although heat detection still presented some difficulty. Conception rates were the same for both groups. In Trial 2, 154 cows were treated with CP for unobserved estrus and were assigned to be inseminated at estrus (78 cows) or were inseminated twice by appointment at 72 and 96 hours after treatment (76 cows). Appointment breeding eliminated problems associated with detection of estrus so nearly all cows were inseminated soon after treatment. In addition, cows bred twice by appointment had a higher conception rate than those bred based on signs of estrus. Induction of luteolysis with the prostaglandin F analog CP in cows with unobserved estrus and a CL should prove to be a very effective addition to reproductive herd health programs. Successful use of CP for this purpose is dependent upon accurate diagnosis of the presence of a mature CL. In these trials 83 (92.4%) of 90 cows sampled had blood serum progesterone concentrations indicative (≥ 2.0 ng/ml) of significant luteal tissue activity.  相似文献

Factors which positively or adversely affect the response of cow groups to different planned conception periods were analyzed and quantified. Cows were randomly assigned to groups for breeding at postpartum intervals of 35 to 59, 60 to 90 and 120 to 150 days in a research herd, or 60 to 90 and 120 to 150 days in a cooperating commercial herd, with a planned preceding dry period of 60 days in both herds. Breeding at 35 to 59 and 60 to 90 days post partum resulted in a lower conception rate among multiparous cows but had no effect on primiparous cows. Genital disorders such as metritis, retained placenta, vulva inflammation and vaginitis, did not affect the start of luteal activity or length of the subsequent cycles, but caused a significant delay of the first behavioral estrus and, cosequently, a delay of the first insemination in the earlier breeding groups. About 30% of the cows in the different categories were inseminated three or more times and were considered to be repeat breeders. Response rates (number of cows conceiving on time/number assigned) in the later breeding group improved due to higher submission rates (number of cows submitted on time/number assigned), and the conception rates were higher (number of cows conceiving on time/number submitted). The rates in all groups were adversely affected by repeat breeding and genital disorders. The latter delayed the first insemination and the conception rate.  相似文献

Eleven 3-yr-old crossbred Angus cows that had raised one calf each were mastectomized at 6 to 7 mo of their second gestation. All calves were removed from cows within 12 h after birth. Cows were kept in a drylot with a fertile bull for 60 d after parturition. Cows were observed for estrus every 6 h, and blood serum was collected daily and assayed for progesterone. The average first ovulation and first estrus occurred at 13.9 and 20.1 d after parturition, respectively. Nine of 11 cows conceived, and the average time of conception was 34.3 d after parturition. The next year, eight of the same mastectomized cows were allocated to two equal groups. In one group, calves were removed from cows within 12 h after birth, whereas in the other group, calves remained with cows for 46 to 53 d. Calves that remained with their dams were hand fed from a bottle or bucket every 12 h. The two groups of cows were kept in separate drylots about 50 m apart, and a fertile bull was kept with each group. Blood samples were obtained from all cows, and they were observed for estrus as before. Cows withcut calves ovulated before 22 d (average 16.0), exhibited estrus by 33 d (average 24.0), and conceived by 40 d (average 30.5) after calving. None of the cows with calves ovulated or exhibited estrus earlier than 49 d after calving. However, all cows ovulated by 4 d (average 3), exhibited estrus by 10 d (average 5.5), and conceived by 11 d (average 9.3) after calf removal. We conclude that cow-calf interaction can suppress ovulation and estrus even when suckling and lactation do not take place.  相似文献

The objective of the study was to analyze the effect of a spontaneous estrus cycle after synchronization of estrus with prostaglandin F2alpha (PGF2alpha) in dairy cows on the degree of synchronization and reproductive performance. We assigned 557 Holstein cows to two treatment groups. In Group 1 estrus was synchronized by two treatments with 25 mg of Dinoprost-Trometamol in 14-day intervals. Cows were treated 27 to 33 days postpartum (dpp) and 41 to 47 dpp, respectively. Cows in Group 2 were treated with 25 mg of Dinoprost-Trometamol three times in 14-day intervals, starting at 34 to 40 dpp. The second and third injections were administered at 48 to 54 dpp and 62 to 68 dpp, respectively. All cows were inseminated on observed estrus after a voluntary waiting period of 65 days post partum. Thus cows in Group 1 were inseminated on spontaneous estrus and cows in Group 2 on induced estrus. Cows not inseminated at 80 days post partum were palpated per rectum and treated according to a predefined protocol. Herd reproductive performance measures did not differ significantly between groups. The proportion of cows with low serum progesterone levels was significantly higher 3 days after synchronization than 24 days after synchronization (97% vs 39%). The first-service conception rate was 34.8% in Group 1 and 30.7% in Group 2 (P > 0.05). Days open were 113.5 in Group 1 and 110.9 in Group 2 (P > 0.05). It is concluded that postponing artificial insemination for one spontaneous estrus cycle after synchronization decreased the degree of synchronization. This procedure, however, had no effect on herd reproductive performance compared to insemination on first observed estrus after synchronization.  相似文献

In this study, a linear programming model was developed to maximize the gross margin of milk production by determining the optimal use of different reproductive technologies in a dairy herd. The model has the potential to vary the use of conventional artificial insemination, insemination with X-sorted sperm, and the use of unselected or sex-selected embryo recovery and transfer. Data from Finnish dairy herd recording systems were used to parameterize the model. This paper presents the results of 6 scenarios for a herd size of 60 dairy cows. In the basic scenario, the optimum economic combination for Finnish conditions was to inseminate 10 heifers and 22 cows with unsorted semen, 8 heifers with X-sorted sperm, and to use 20 cows as embryo donors which was the upper constraint for this technique. The embryo donors were inseminated with conventional semen for both embryo production and their subsequent pregnancy. Without restriction on embryo recovery, the optimum combination was to use all heifers as donors of sex-selected embryos and all cows as donors of unselected embryos. It was more profitable to produce female embryos with X-sorted sperm than by sorting embryos. Embryo recipients were not economically justified in any scenario. In practice, the optimal strategy is herd-specific depending on the input costs, output values and the technical success of each reproductive technology in that herd. This single-year linear programming model adequately differentiates between breeding technologies within a herd, but further research is needed to develop dynamic models to consider genetic improvement and herd expansion.  相似文献

Two experiments were conducted to determine whether treatments with gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) during the early postpartum period in suckled cows would induce ovulation and initiate regular estrous cycles. In Experiment I, 0, 100 or 200mug of GnRH was given to 22 suckled Angus x Holstein cows at three and again at five weeks postpartum. Serum luteinizing hormone (LH) responses did not differ between cows given 100 or 200mug of GnRH. Treatment with GnRH tended to increase the percentage of cows exhibiting estrus by 30 and 60 days postpartum, but reproductive performance during the breeding season did not differ among groups. In Experiment II, 70 suckled Hereford cows were given either no treatment or 200mug of GnRH at 7 weeks postpartum. Cows given GnRH received either no treatment prior to GnRH or were separated from their calves for 24 hr prior to GnRH treatment. Half of the cows that were separated from their calves also received progesterone via a progesterone intravaginal device (PRID) for 12 days prior to calf removal. Treatment with GnRH alone tended to increase the percentage of anestrous cows which ovulated by 8 days after treatment. Calf removal did not increase the ovulatory response to GnRH, but PRID treatment did. More estrous periods were detected in GnRH-treated cows than in control cows during 20 days after GnRH treatment.  相似文献
