The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of non-resisted (NRS) and partner-towing resisted (RS) sprint training on legs explosive force, sprint performance and sprint kinematic parameters. Sixteen young elite soccer players (age 16.6 ± 0.2 years, height 175.6 ± 5.7 cm, and body mass 67.6 ± 8.2 kg) were randomly allocated to two training groups: resisted sprint RS (n = 7) and non-resisted sprint NRS (n = 9). The RS group followed a six-week sprint training programme consisting of two “sprint training sessions” per week in addition to their usual soccer training. The NRS group followed a similar sprint training programme, replicating the distances of sprints but without any added resistance. All players were assessed before and after training: vertical and horizontal jumping (countermovement jump (CMJ), squat jump (SJ), and 5-jump test (5JT)), 30 m sprint performance (5, 10, and 20 m split times), and running kinematics (stride length and frequency). In the RS group significant (p < 0.05) changes were: decreased sprint time for 0–5 m, 0–10 m and 0–30 m (-6.31, -5.73 and -2.00%; effect size (ES) = 0.70, 1.00 and 0.41, respectively); higher peak jumping height (4.23% and 3.59%; ES = 0.35 and 0.37, for SJ and CMJ respectively); and 5JT (3.10%; ES = 0.44); and increased stride frequency (3.96%; ES = 0.76). In the NRS group, significant (p < 0.05) changes were: decreased sprint time at 0–30 m (-1.34%, ES = 0.33) and increased stride length (1.21%; ES = 0.17). RS training (partner towing) for six weeks in young soccer players showed more effective performances in sprint, stride frequency and lower-limb explosive force, while NRS training improved sprint performance at 0–30 m and stride length. Consequently, coaches and physical trainers should consider including RS training as part of their sprint training to ensure optimal sprint performance.  相似文献

This study quantified leg stiffness and vGRF measures for males and females using different stride lengths to run with four body borne loads (20, 25, 30, and 35 kg). Thirty-six participants (20 males and 16 females) ran at 4.0 m/s using either: their preferred stride length (PSL), or strides 15% longer (LSL) and shorter (SSL) than PSL. Leg stiffness and vGRF measures, including peak vGRF, impact peak and loading rate, were submitted to a RM ANOVA to test the main effect and interactions of load, stride length, and sex. Leg stiffness was greater with the 30 kg (p = 0.016) and 35 kg (p < 0.001) compared to the 20 kg load, but decreased as stride lengthened from SSL to PSL (p < 0.001) and PSL to LSL (p < 0.001). Males exhibited greater leg stiffness than females with SSL (p = 0.029). Yet, males decreased leg stiffness with each increase in stride length (p < 0.001; p < 0.001), while females only decreased leg stiffness between PSL and LSL (p = 0.014). Peak vGRF was greater with the addition of body borne load (p < 0.001) and increase in stride length (p < 0.001). Both impact peak and loading rate were greater with the 30 kg (p = 0.034; p = 0.043) and 35 kg (p = 0.004; p = 0.015) compared to the 20 kg load, and increased as stride lengthened from SSL to PSL (p = 0.001; p = 0.004) and PSL to LSL (p < 0.001; p < 0.001). Running with body borne load may elevate injury risk by increasing leg stiffness and vGRFs. Injury risk may further increase when using longer strides to run with body borne load.  相似文献

The gaits of the adult SWISS mice during treadmill locomotion at velocities ranging from 15 to 85 cm s–1 have been analysed using a high-speed video camera combined with cinefluoroscopic equipment. The sequences of locomotion were analysed to determine the various space and time parameters of limb kinematics. We found that velocity adjustments are accounted for differently by the stride frequency and the stride length if the animal showed a symmetrical or an asymmetrical gait. In symmetrical gaits, the increase of velocity is provided by an equal increase in the stride length and the stride frequency. In asymmetrical gaits, the increase in velocity is mainly assured by an increase in the stride frequency in velocities ranging from 15 to 29 cm s–1. Above 68 cm s–1, velocity increase is achieved by stride length increase. In velocities ranging from 29 to 68 cm s–1, the contribution of both variables is equal as in symmetrical gaits. Both stance time and swing time shortening contributed to the increase of the stride frequency in both gaits, though with a major contribution from stance time decrease. The pattern of locomotion obtained in a normal mouse should be used as a template for studying locomotor control deficits after lesions or in different mutations affecting the nervous system.  相似文献

In contrast to endurance training, little research has been carried out to investigate the effects of short (<10 s) sprint training on performance, muscle metabolism and fibre types. Nine fit male subjects performed a mean of 16 outdoor sprint running training sessions over 6 weeks. Distances sprinted were 30–80 m at 90–100% maximum speed and between 20 and 40 sprints were performed in each session. Endurance (maximal oxygen consumption; V˙O2 max), sprint (10 m and 40 m times), sustained sprint (supramaximal treadmill run) and repeated sprint (6 × 40 m sprints, 24 s recovery between each) performance tests were performed before and after training. Muscle biopsy samples (vastus lateralis) were also taken to examine changes in metabolites, enzyme activities and fibre types. After training, significant improvements were seen in 40 m time (P < 0.01), supramaximal treadmill run time (P < 0.05), repeated sprint performance (P < 0.05) and V˙O2 max (P < 0.01). Resting muscle concentrations of ATP and phosphocreatine did not change. Phosphorylase activity increased (P < 0.025), citrate synthase activity decreased (P < 0.01), but no significant changes were recorded in myokinase and phosphofructokinase activities. The proportion of type II muscle fibres increased significantly (P < 0.05). These results demonstrate that 6 weeks of short sprint training can improve endurance, sprint and repeated sprint ability in fit subjects. Increases in the proportion of type II muscle fibres are also possible with this type of training. Accepted: 5 January 1998  相似文献

The effect of stride length on the dynamics of barefoot and shod running   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A number of interventions and technique changes have been proposed to attempt to improve performance and reduce the number of running related injuries. Running shoes, barefoot running and alterations in spatio-temporal parameters (stride frequency and stride length) have been associated with significant kinematic and kinetic changes, which may have implications for performance and injury prevention. However, because footwear interventions have been shown to also affect spatio-temporal parameters, there is uncertainty regarding the origin of the kinematic and kinetic alterations. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to independently evaluate the effects of shoes and changes in stride length on lower extremity kinetics. Eleven individuals ran over-ground at stride lengths ±5 and 10% of their preferred stride length, in both the barefoot and shod condition. Three-dimensional motion capture and force plate data were captured synchronously and used to compute lower extremity joint moments. We found a significant main effect of stride length on anterior–posterior and vertical GRFs, and sagittal plane knee and ankle moments in both barefoot and shod running. When subjects ran at identical stride lengths in the barefoot and shod conditions we did not observe differences for any of the kinetic variables that were measured. These findings suggest that barefoot running triggers a decrease in stride length, which could lead to a decrease in GRFs and sagittal plane joint moments. When evaluating barefoot running as a potential option to reduce injury, it is important to consider the associated change in stride length.  相似文献

The conduction properties of peripheral nerves from the Arctic fish species Arctic eelpouts (Lycodes sp.), snake blenny (Lumpenus lampretaeformis) and polar cod (Boreogadus saida), permanently adapted to low temperatures, were studied. Nerves of these fishes have two types of fibres, characterised by extracellular compound action potentials with fast (7 m/s) and slow (4 m/s) conduction velocities, as measured at 12 °C. The temperature dependence of the conduction velocity was bimodal, changing its slope at about 16 °C. The Q 10 above 16 °C was 1.12–1.49, while below 16 °C it was 1.82–2.16. Irreversible deterioration of the nerve was observed at temperatures around 19–27 °C. A comparison with data previously obtained from Mediterranean fishes indicates that Arctic fishes have similar temperature sensitivity of nerve conduction and a slight vertical displacement on the conduction velocity-temperature curves, which is insufficient to compensate the decrease of the conduction velocity at their physiological temperature, the conduction velocity of Arctic fishes being about one-half of that of temperate fishes. This suggests that this neurophysiological function is not fully cold-adapted in these Arctic fish species. Accepted: 3 June 2000  相似文献

In a mesophilic (30–35 °C), sulphidogenic, ethanol-fed expanded-granular-sludge-blanket reactor, sulphate, at loading rates of up to 10.0–12.0 g Sl−1␣day−1, was removed with an average efficiency of more than 80%. The pH was between 7.7 and 8.3 and the maximal total dissolved sulphide concentration was up to 20 mM S (650 mg S/l). The alkaline pH was maintained by either a pH-control unit with sodium hydroxide or by stripping part of the sulphide and CO2 from the recycle with nitrogen gas. The superficial upstream liquid velocity (v up) was 3.0–4.5 m/h. The ratio of ethanol to sulphur was near stoichiometry. At alkaline pH, the activity of the acetotrophic sulphate-reducing bacteria, growing on acetate, was strongly enhanced, whereas at pH below 7.7 the acetotrophic sulphate-reducing bacteria were inhibited by aqueous H2S. With regard to the removal efficiency and operational stability, external stripping with N2 and pH control were equally successful. The effects of slow changes in body position on leg blood flow (LBF) were studied in nine healthy male subjects. Using a tilt table, sitting volunteers were tilted about 60° backwards to a supine position within 40 s. To modify the venous filling in the legs, the tilt manoeuvre was repeated with congestion of the leg veins induced by two thigh cuffs inflated to a subdiastolic pressure of 60 mmHg. Doppler measurements in the femoral artery were used to estimate LBF. Additional Doppler measurements at the aortic root in five of the subjects were taken for the determination of cardiac output. The LBF was influenced by body position. In the control experiment it increased from 500 ml · min−1 in the upright to 780 ml · min–1 after 15 min in the supine position. A mean maximal value of 950 ml · min−1 was observed 20 s after the tilt. Heart rate remained almost constant during the tilt phase, whereas stroke volume increased from 90 ml to 120 ml and it remained at that level after the cessation of the tilt. Congestion of the leg veins had no significant effect on heart rate, stroke volume and mean blood pressure. However, it increased vascular resistance of the leg during and after the tilt. After 15 min in the tilted position LBF amounted to 600 ml · min−1. The results suggest that the filling of the leg veins is inversely related to leg blood flow. The most likely mechanism underlying this observation is a local effect of venous filling on vasomotor tone. Accepted: 20 May 1998  相似文献

Two upflow anaerobic hybrid reactors treated lactose and a mixture of ethanol, propionate and butyrate, respectively, at a volumetric loading rate of 3.7 kg chemical oxygen demand (COD) m−3day−1, a hydraulic retention time of 5 days and a liquid upflow velocity of 0.01 m/h. Under steady-state conditions, the lactose-fed sludge had much higher (20%–100%) specific methanogenic conversion rates than the volatile-fatty acid␣(VFA)/ethanol-fed sludge for all substrates tested, including VFA. In both reactors, a flocculant sludge developed, although a much higher content of extracellular polysaccharide was measured in the lactose-fed sludge [1900 μg compared to 305 μg uronic acid/g volatile suspended solids (VSS)]. When the liquid upflow velocity of a third, VFA/ethanol-fed reactor was increased to 0.5 m/h, granulation of the sludge occurred, accompanied by a large increase (200%–500%) in the specific methanogenic conversion rates for the syntrophic and methanogenic substrates studied. Granulation reduced the susceptibility of the sludge to flotation. Glucose was degraded at a high rate (100 mg glucose gVSS−1h−1) by the sludge from the third reactor, despite not having been exposed to a sugar-containing influent for 563␣days. There is currently no consensus with regard to the most effective method to train for improved acceleration, or with regard to which kinematic variable provides the greatest opportunity for improvement in this important performance characteristic. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of resistive ground-based speed training and incline treadmill speed training on speed-related kinematic measures and sprint start speed. The hypothesis tested was that incline treadmill training would improve sprint start time, while the ground-based resistive training would not. Corollary hypotheses were that treadmill training would increase stride frequency and ground-based training would not affect kinematics during the sprint start. Thirty-one high school female soccer players (15.7 +/- 0.5 years) were assigned to either treadmill (n = 17) or ground-based (n = 14) training groups and trained 2 times a week for 6 weeks. The treadmill group utilized incline speed training on a treadmill, while the ground-based group utilized partner band resistance ground-based techniques. Three-dimensional motion analysis was used (4.5 m mark) before and after training to quantify kinematics during the fastest of 3 recorded sprint starts (9.1 m). Both groups decreased average sprint start time from 1.75 +/- 0.12 to 1.68 +/- 0.08 seconds (p < 0.001). Training increased stride frequency (p = 0.030) but not stride length. After training, total vertical pelvic displacement and stride length predicted 62% of the variance in sprint start time for the resistive ground-based group, while stride length and stride frequency accounted for 67% prediction of the variance in sprint start time for the treadmill group. The results of this study indicate that both incline treadmill and resistive ground-based training are effective at improving sprint start speed, although they potentially do so through differing mechanisms.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare the rates of muscle deoxygenation in the exercising muscles during incremental arm cranking and leg cycling exercise in healthy men and women. Fifteen men and 10 women completed arm cranking and leg cycling tests to exhaustion in separate sessions in a counterbalanced order. Cardiorespiratory measurements were monitored using an automated metabolic cart interfaced with an electrocardiogram. Tissue absorbency was recorded continuously at 760 nm and 850 nm during incremental exercise and 6 min of recovery, with a near infrared spectrometer interfaced with a computer. Muscle oxygenation was calculated from the tissue absorbency measurements at 30%, 45%, 60%, 75% and 90% of peak oxygen uptake (V˙O2) during each exercise mode and is expressed as a percentage of the maximal range observed during exercise and recovery (%Mox). Exponential regression analysis indicated significant inverse relationships (P < 0.01) between %Mox and absolute V˙O2 during arm cranking and leg cycling in men (multiple R = −0.96 and −0.99, respectively) and women (R =−0.94 and −0.99, respectively). No significant interaction was observed for the %Mox between the two exercise modes and between the two genders. The rate of muscle deoxygenation per litre of V˙O2 was 31.1% and 26.4% during arm cranking and leg cycling, respectively, in men, and 26.3% and 37.4% respectively, in women. It was concluded that the rate of decline in %Mox for a given increase in V˙O2 between 30% and 90% of the peak V˙O2 was independent of exercise mode and gender. Accepted: 31 March 1998  相似文献

Thermophilic acidification of dairy wastewater   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Acidification of simulated dairy wastewater was conducted in an upflow reactor at 55 °C. Results showed that the degree of acidification decreased with the increase in chemical oxygen demand (COD) loading rate, from 60.8% at 4 g l−1 day−1 to 27.1% at 24 g l−1 day−1. Carbohydrate was readily degraded at all loading rates, but degradation of protein and lipid decreased with the increase in loading rate. Most carbohydrate degradation occurred at the reactor bottom, whereas protein was degraded mainly after the carbohydrate became depleted. The predominant acidification products were acetate, propionate, butyrate and ethanol, whereas formate, i-butyrate, valerate, i-valerate, caproate, lactate, methanol, propanol and butanol were present in lesser quantities. The increase in loading rate resulted in the increase of propionate and the decrease of acetate, but had little effect on ethanol and butyrate productions. Only 2.5–8.8% of influent COD was converted to hydrogen and methane. The biomass yield was 0.30–0.43 mg VSS mg−1 COD. During running, the behaviour of the support leg was studied by modelling the runner using an oscillating system composed of a spring (the leg) and of a mass (the body mass). This model was applied to eight middle-distance runners running on a level treadmill at a velocity corresponding to 90% of their maximal aerobic velocity [mean 5.10 (SD 0.33) m · s−1]. Their energy cost of running (C r ), was determined from the measurement of O2 consumption. The work, the stiffness and the resonant frequency of both legs were computed from measurements performed with a kinematic arm. The C r was significantly related to the stiffness (P < 0.05, r = −0.80) and the absolute difference between the resonant frequency and the step frequency (P < 0.05, r = 0.79) computed for the leg producing the highest positive work. Neither of these significant relationships were obtained when analysing data from the other leg probably because of the work asymmetry observed between legs. It was concluded that the spring-mass model is a good approach further to understand mechanisms underlying the interindividual differences in C r . Accepted: 18 August 1997  相似文献

Biofilm formation by bacterial cells can be used to modify the subsurface permeability for the purpose of microbial enhanced oil recovery, bio-barrier formation, and in situ bioremediation. Once injected into the subsurface, the bacteria undergo starvation due to a decrease in nutrient supply and diffusion limitations in biofilms. To help understand the starvation response of bacteria in biofilms, the relationship between exopolymer formation and cell culturability was examined in a batch culture. The average cell diameter was observed to decrease from 0.8 μm to 0.35 μm 3 days after starvation began. Cell chain fragmentation was also observed during starvation. Cells that underwent starvation in the presence of insoluble exopolymers showed a slower rate of decrease in cell diameter and in cell chain length than cells without insoluble exopolymers. The rate of decrease in the average cell diameter and cell chain length were determined using a first order decay model. Cells starved in the presence of exopolymers showed greater culturability than cells starved without exopolymers. After 200 days starvation, 2.5 × 10−3% cells were culturable, but no increase in cell number was observed. During starvation, the exopolymer concentration remained constant, an indication that the exopolymer was not consumed by the starving bacteria as an alternative carbon or energy source.  We investigate the temporal coordination of human gait and posture and infer the nature of their coupling. Participants viewed a sinusoidally oscillating visual display which induced medial-lateral postural sway during treadmill walking, while display frequency was varied (0.075–1.025 Hz). First, postural responses exhibited the usual low-pass characteristic but with an additional resonance peak near the preferred stride frequency, although shifted downward by 0.12 Hz; this provides evidence of a coupling from gait to posture. Second, the step cycle adapted to mode lock with the visual driver and postural sway, as well as displaying instances of intermittency (slipping in and out of phase) and quasiperiodicity (phase wandering); this provides evidence of a coupling from posture to gait. We observed a spectrum of integer mode locks, including a large 1:1 trapping region about the stride frequency and superharmonic entrainment (stride frequency > driver frequency) at lower driver frequencies. A coupled-oscillator model that incorporates a novel parametric coupling from posture to the gait “stiffness” term reproduces these features of the data, including the resonance peak shift. Biological coordination patterns may thus emerge naturally as properties of a system of appropriately coupled oscillators. Received: 23 June 1999 / Accepted in revised form: 10 January 2001  相似文献

An assessment of natural stocks of the commercially important black pearl oyster, Pinctada margaritifera, was conducted in the lagoon of Takapoto Atoll, French Polynesia. The sampling methodology combined estimates of reef area from remote sensing, depth profiles across the lagoon, and in situ sampling using scuba. Confidence limits around estimates of mean oyster density began to stabilize after ten dives, and did not decrease further after 30. Densities of oysters increased steadily with depth, ranging from a mean of 1 per 100 m2 at 0–10 m to 8/100 m2 at 30–40 m. More than half of the stock occurred at depths greater than 30 m. The total stock was estimated to be 4.3 ± 0.67 million, equivalent to 834 metric tonnes (including shells). Accepted: 15 June 1999  相似文献

Agility performance is often evaluated using time-based metrics, which provide little information about which factors aid or limit success. The objective of this study was to better understand agility strategy by identifying biomechanical metrics that were sensitive to performance speed, which were calculated with data from an array of body-worn inertial sensors. Five metrics were defined (normalized number of foot contacts, stride length variance, arm swing variance, mean normalized stride frequency, and number of body rotations) that corresponded to agility terms defined by experts working in athletic, clinical, and military environments. Eighteen participants donned 13 sensors to complete a reactive agility task, which involved navigating a set of cones in response to a vocal cue. Participants were grouped into fast, medium, and slow performance based on their completion time. Participants in the fast group had the smallest number of foot contacts (normalizing by height), highest stride length variance (normalizing by height), highest forearm angular velocity variance, and highest stride frequency (normalizing by height). The number of body rotations was not sensitive to speed and may have been determined by hand and foot dominance while completing the agility task. The results of this study have the potential to inform the development of a composite agility score constructed from the list of significant metrics. By quantifying the agility terms previously defined by expert evaluators through an agility score, this study can assist in strategy development for training and rehabilitation across athletic, clinical, and military domains.  相似文献

Replicon spacing was measured during the S-phase of the cell cycle in shoot meristems of Silene coeli-rosa L., a long-day (LD) plant, and Pharbitis nil Chois, a short-day (SD) plant to examine the hypothesis that activation of latent origins of DNA replication is a feature of floral determination. Silene coeli-rosa was germinated and grown in SD for 28 d and then exposed to either a florally inductive combination of 7 LD + 2 SD, the last day of which coincides with determination of the sepal and stamen whorls, or was germinated and grown in 37 non-inductive SD. Pharbitis nil was germinated and grown in continuous light (CL) for 5 d and then given either 48 h of inductive darkness followed by 1 d of CL, the last day of which coincides with determination of the sepal, petal and stamen whorls, or given one of two independent non-inductive treatments: 48 h dark interrupted by red light (R) + 1 d of CL, or 8 d of CL. Following these treatments, each batch of plants was exposed to tritiated [methyl-3H]thymidine for 30, 60, 90 or 120 min. Apical domes were dissected, nuclei lysed and prepared as fibre autoradiographs from which replicon size was recorded. In S. coeli-rosa, replicon size was in the range 10–15 μm in SD (non-inductive) and 0–5 μm in LD (inductive) while in P. nil it was 10–15 μm in the 48 h dark interrupted by R, 5–10 μm in CL (both non-inductive) but was reduced to 0–5 μm in the 48 h dark treatment (inductive). Therefore, the recruitment of additional initiation points for DNA replication occurred in both a LD and a SD plant immediately before the appearance of floral organs. The data are consistent in showing that a shortening of S-phase, which is a characteristic feature of florally determined shoot meristems for both species, is brought about by the activation of latent origins of DNA replication.
