Effects of ectopic pacing on left ventricular repolarization were studied in six anesthetized open-chest chickens. In each animal, unipolar electrograms were acquired from as many as 98 sites with 14 plunge needles (seven transmural locations between epicardium and endocardium in each needle). Activation-recovery intervals (ARIs), corrected to the cycle length, were used for estimating repolarization. At baseline, the nonuniform ARI distribution in the left ventricle resulted in the apicobasal differences being greater than the transmural gradient. Nonuniform ARI prolongation caused by ectopic pacing resulted in decreasing the transmural repolarization gradient and increasing the differences in the apex-to-base direction. The basal, but not apical transmural differences contributed to the total left ventricular transmural gradient. The total left ventricular apicobasal gradient was contributed by the apicobasal differences in mid-myocardial and subendocardial layers more than in subepicardial ones. Thus, in in situ chicken hearts, the transmural and apicobasal ARI gradients exist within the left ventricle with the shortest ARIs in the basal subepicardium and the longest ARIs in the subendocardium of the apical and middle parts of the left ventricle. Apicobasal compared to transmural heterogeneity of local repolarization properties contributes more to the total left ventricular repolarization gradient. 相似文献

Recovery sequence of ventricular epicardium and body surface potential distribution during the ST-T complex in birds, were studied. Recovery sequence of ventricular epicardium in hens appeared to be independent of activation sequence and to be governed by activation-recovery intervals. Inversion of mutual location of positive and negative areas on the body surface in hens corresponded to the end of the QRS complex and the beginning of the ST-T complex. 相似文献

The depth of the myocardial wall ectopic focus was found to affect spatial and temporal characteristics of the depolarization process in the heart ventricular surface. Duration of the ventricular epicardial depolarization under the ectopic foci located in subendocardial and intramural layers of the myocardium was shorter than in epicardial stimulation of the ventricles. A dependence of the ectopic excitation duration on the pacing site localization in the epicardium, was revealed. The shortest duration of the depolarization occurred under electrical stimulation of the apex and ventral part of the interventricular septum, whereas the longer one--under pacing the left ventricular base. 相似文献

Our study compared the contributions of activation sequence and local repolarization durations distribution in the organization of epicardial repolarization in animals with fast (rabbit) and slow (frog) myocardial activation under sinus rhythm. Activation times, repolarization times and activation-recovery intervals (ARI) were obtained from ventricular epicardial unipolar electrograms recorded in 13 Chinchilla rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) and 10 frogs (Rana temporaria). In frogs, depolarization travels from the atrioventricular ring radially. ARIs increased progressively from the apex to the middle portion and finally to the base (502+/-75, 557+/-73, 606+/-79 ms, respectively; P<0.01). In rabbits, depolarization spread from two epicardial breakthroughs with the duration of epicardial activation being lower than that in frogs (17+/-3 vs. 44+/-18 ms; P<0.001). ARI durations were 120+/-37, 143+/-45, and 163+/-40 ms in the left ventricular apex, left, and right ventricular bases, respectively (P<0.05). In both species, repolarization sequence was directed from apex to base according to the ARI distribution with dispersion of repolarization being higher than that of activation (P<0.001). Thus, excitation spread sequence and velocity per se do not play a crucial role in the formation of ventricular epicardial repolarization pattern, but the chief factor governing repolarization sequences is the distribution of local repolarization durations. 相似文献

The effect of cymotrypsin on excretion of penicillin, methicillin, oxacillin, streptomycin and gentamycin with urine including the kidney clearance was studied on rabbits. It was found that the enzyme introduced intramuscularly in a dose of 20 mg/kg increased excretion of penicillin, methicillin, oxacillin and gentamycin by 37, 24, 26 and 16 per cent respectively. The only exclusion was streptomycin. Chymotrypsin increased the kidney clearance of penicillin, methicillin, oxacillin, streptomycin and gentamycin by 1.7, 1.9, 2.2, 1.2 and 1.5 times respectively. 相似文献

Although transmural heterogeneity of action potential duration (APD) is established in single cells isolated from different tissue layers, the extent to which it produces transmural gradients of repolarization in electrotonically coupled ventricular myocardium remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to examine the relative contribution of intrinsic cellular gradients of APD and electrotonic influences to transmural repolarization in rabbit ventricular myocardium. Transmural optical mapping was performed in left ventricular wedge preparations from eight rabbits. Transmural patterns of activation, repolarization, and APD were recorded during endocardial and epicardial stimulation. Experimental results were compared with modeled data during variations in electrotonic coupling. A transmural gradient of APD was evident during endocardial stimulation, which reflected differences previously seen in isolated cells, with the longest APD at the endocardium and the shortest at the epicardium (endo: 165 ± 5 vs. epi: 147 ± 4 ms; P < 0.05). During epicardial stimulation, this gradient reversed (epi: 162 ± 4 vs. endo: 148 ± 6 ms; P < 0.05). In both activation sequences, transmural repolarization followed activation and APD shortened along the activation path such that significant transmural gradients of repolarization did not occur. This correlation between transmural activation time and APD was recapitulated in simulations and varied with changes in intercellular coupling, confirming that it is mediated by electrotonic current flow between cells. These data suggest that electrotonic influences are important in determining the transmural repolarization sequence in rabbit ventricular myocardium and that they are sufficient to overcome intrinsic differences in the electrophysiological properties of the cells across the ventricular wall. 相似文献

The effects of experimentally induced hypothermia on exocrine pancreatic secretion in rabbits were investigated. During hypothermia the flow of pancreatic juice decreased to 50% of basal values and recovered after rewarming. Hypothermia scarcely affected HCO-3, Cl- and Na+ concentrations but did cause significant alterations in K+ concentrations. During hypothermia and later normothermia a parallel secretion in the enzymes amylase, chymotrypsin and trypsin was seen to take place. Enzyme secretion decreased throughout the experimental period in the rabbits undergoing hypothermia and later normothermia, as in the case of the control animals. 相似文献

Multichannel mapping of electrical field on heart ventricle epicardium and the body surface in frogs Rana esculenta and Rana temporaria was performed at periods of the ventricular myocardium depolarization and repolarization. The zone of the epicardium early depolarization is located on epicardium of the ventricle base posterior wall, while the late depolarization zone—on its apex and on the base anterior wall. The total vector of sequence of the ventricle epicardium depolarization is directed from the base to the apex. The zone of the early repolarization is located in the apical area, while that of the late one—in the area of the base. On the frog body surface the cardioelectric field with the cranial zone of negative and the caudal zone of positive potentials is formed before the appearance of the QRS complex on ECG. At the period of the heart ventricle repolarization the zone of the cardioelectric field negative potentials is located in the cranial, while that of the positive ones—in the body surface caudal parts. The cardioelectric field on the frog body surface at the periods of depolarization and repolarization of the ventricle myocardium reflects adequately the projection of sequence of involvement with excitation and of distribution of potentials on epicardium. 相似文献

Hypothermia reduces metabolism and oxygen utilization by tissues. If the blood supply to a solid tumour can be maintained at a sufficient level, the hypoxic fraction of tumour cells may be reduced and radiosensitivity increased. This may be achieved if hyperbaric oxygen is used in combination with the hypothermia. The blood supply and oxygen tension have been measured in C3H mouse mammary tumours under hypothermia and hyperbaric oxygen, and the enhancement of radiosensitivity by hyperbaric oxygen has been estimated in mice irradiated at different temperatures with and without anaesthesia. Measurement of xenon-133 clearance showed that the blood supply of a tumour tended to increase when anaesthetized mice became hypothermic. Oxygen cathode data showed that the oxygen tension tended to be relatively higher in tumours and lower in subcutaneous tissue when mice exposed to hyperbaric oxygen became hypothermic under anaesthesia. Hyperbaric oxygen enhanced the radiation response of the tumour in terms of an increase in regrowth delay by a factor of 1.7 when the mice had been anaesthetized, whether or not they became hypothermic. A lower factor of 1.4 was obtained without anaesthesia although induced hypothermia increased the response to a small extent. We conclude that anaesthesia and hypothermia affect oxygen metabolism in tumours by different mechanisms. 相似文献
