T-cell mediated suppression in the MRL mouse   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
MRL/lpr mice possess an autosomal recessive gene, lpr, which is associated with lymphoproliferation and acceleration of autoimmune disease. Lymphoproliferation has been ascribed to a single gene defect predominantly affecting the T-lymphocyte component of the immune system. MRL/++ mice do not possess the lpr autosomal recessive mutation and do not develop early lymphadenopathy. T-lymphocyte functional activity was studied in these mice using the polyclonal T-cell mitogens PHA and Con A. Our results indicated a significant suppression of the spleen and lymph node response of MRL/lpr mice to these polyclonal mitogens as compared to the MRL/++ response noted as early as 6 weeks of age. In addition, there was a progressive decline in the MRL/lpr spleen and lymph node cell mitogenic responses with increasing age. Spleen and lymph node cells from 20-week MRL/lpr mice were also relatively unresponsive in the mixed lymphocyte culture reaction as compared to cells from MRL/ ++ or BALB/c mice. The in vitro proliferative response of the MRL mice was further examined with respect to possible accessory cell modulation by both macrophages and T cells. It was found that in 20-week MRL/lpr lymph nodes a significant degree of suppression of lymphocyte proliferation could be mediated by the MRL/lpr T cell. Increased lymphocyte proliferation to a mitogenic signal could only be demonstrated in those MRL/lpr mice 3 weeks of age.  相似文献

omega3 Fatty acid rich fish oil (FO) and vitamin E may delay the progress of certain autoimmune diseases. The present study examined the mechanisms of action of omega3 lipids and vitamin E in autoimmune-prone MRL/lpr mice suffering from extensive lymphoproliferation, lupus-like symptoms, and accelerated aging. To determine whether the effects of omega3 lipids in autoimmune disease is linked to vitamin E levels, weanling female MRL/lpr and congenic control MRL/++ mice were fed diets containing 10% corn oil (CO) or 10% FO at two levels of vitamin E (75 IU or 500 IU/kg diet) for 4 months. The appearance of lymph nodes was delayed in the mice fed FO, and higher levels of FO offered further protection against the appearance of lymph nodes. Analysis of the spleen cells revealed that the cells positive for Thy.1 and Fas were significantly higher in the MRL/++ mice. The groups fed high levels of vitamin E generally exhibited higher levels of Fas. The proliferative response of splenocytes of MRL/++ mice to mitogens was significantly higher compared with MRL/lpr mice. Interleukin (IL)-10 production by spleen cells was significantly higher in FO-fed MRL/lpr mice than in CO-fed mice. In mice fed a high level of vitamin E, the production of IL-12 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha was significantly lower and IL-2 was significantly higher than in animals fed a low level of vitamin E. Proinflammatory cytokines were higher in the MRL/lpr mice and both FO and vitamin E lowered the levels of proinflammatory cytokines and lipid mediators. Western blots revealed that c-myc and c-ras were significantly lower and IL-2 and transforming growth factor (TGF)-beta1 levels were significantly higher in the spleens of MRL/++ mice. FO lowered c-myc and high levels of vitamin E in the diets normalized the levels of TGF-beta1 in MRL/lpr mice. The observations from this study suggest that both FO and vitamin E modulate the levels of specific cytokines, decrease the levels of proinflammatory cytokines, inflammatory lipid mediators, and c-myc, and increase TGF-beta1 levels in spleens of MRL/lpr mice and thus may delay the progress of autoimmune diseases.  相似文献

The daily exposure of a mouse to ultraviolet (uv) radiation causes a selective depletion of Ia-bearing adherent cells in that animal's spleen. This depletion manifests itself in functional deficiencies in the presentation of protein antigens and haptens to T cells. The present studies demonstrate a defect in splenic adherent cells (SAC) from uv-irradiated mice resulting in defective alloantigen presentation. We show that unfractionated splenocytes and SAC from uv-irradiated mice show decreased stimulatory activity in allogeneic MLR. We then utilize this phenomenon induced by uv radiation to characterize the stimulator cell in the M locus (Mls) determinant-driven MLR. We show that the stimulator cell in Mls determinant-driven MLR is an adherent cell and demonstrate that this stimulator cell bears Ia determinants by showing that whole spleen cells and SAC from mice treated with uv radiation are inefficient stimulators of the Mls determinant-driven MLR. The importance of the Ia determinant on the stimulator cells in Mls determinant-driven MLR is corroborated by the demonstration that a monoclonal antibody directed at this determinant fully blocks the Mls determinant-driven MLR. The significance of these studies to the problem of alloreactions in vivo is discussed.  相似文献

Serum from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) contained significantly higher concentrations of IL-18 than normal individuals. MRL/lpr mice, which develop spontaneous lupus-like autoimmune disease, also had higher serum levels of IL-18 than wild-type MRL/++ mice. Daily injections of IL-18 or IL-18 plus IL-12 resulted in accelerated proteinuria, glomerulonephritis, vasculitis, and raised levels of proinflammatory cytokines in MRL/lpr mice. IL-18-treated MRL/lpr mice also developed a "butterfly" facial rash resembling clinical SLE. In contrast, MRL/lpr mice treated with IL-18 plus IL-12 did not develop a facial rash. The facial lesion in the IL-18-treated mice showed epidermal thickening with intense chronic inflammation accompanied by increased apoptosis, Ig deposition, and early systemic Th2 response compared with control or IL-12 plus IL-18-treated mice. These data therefore show that IL-18 is an important mediator of lupus-like disease and may thus be a novel target for therapeutic intervention of spontaneous autoimmune diseases.  相似文献

Elevated levels of chemokines, such as Regulated upon Activation, Normal T cell Expressed and Secreted (RANTES), Monocyte Chemotactic Protein-1 (MCP-1), Macrophage Inflammatory Protein-1alpha (MIP-1alpha), and Macrophage Inflammatory Protein-1beta (MIP-1beta) have been found in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and juvenile arthritis (JA), and they may be associated with the pathogenesis of these diseases. These chemokines are implicated in the migration of specific leukocytes into the joints. Omega-3 (omega3) fatty acid rich-fish oil (FO) and vitamin E may delay the progress of certain autoimmune diseases. The present study was designed to understand the effects of dietary lipids (omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids) and vitamin E on the production of chemokines in autoimmune-prone MRL/lpr (a mouse model for RA) and congenic control MRL/++ mice. The MRL mice were fed for 4.5 months omega-6 and omega-3 diets that varied in lipid sources (corn oil; CO and fish oil; FO) and vitamin E levels (269 I.U./kg and 694 I.U./kg diet). Spleen cells were isolated and cultured aseptically in the presence of PHA for 48 h at 37 degrees C and the levels of chemokines (RANTES, JE/MCP-1 and MIP-1alpha) were determined in the cell-free supernatants. The levels of RANTES and JE/MCP-1 were significantly higher in MRL/lpr mice compared to MRL/++ mice. The FO had differential effect on RANTES and MCP-1 production by spleen cells. The production of RANTES and JE/MCP-1 by spleen cells in mice fed the FO diets was significantly lower than in mice fed the CO diets (p < 0.0001). The levels of vitamin E did not affect the production of RANTES and JE/MCP-1. The levels of vitamin E had a significant effect on MIP-1alpha as the spleen cells of mice fed diets containing 694 IU/kg diet of vitamin E produced significantly higher levels of MIP-1alpha compared to the group of mice fed the diets containing 269 IU of vitamin E (p < 0.0001). The data obtained from this study in MRL/lpr and MRL/++ mice suggest that FO diets containing omega-3 fatty acids are beneficial in decreasing the levels of certain pro-inflammatory chemokines (RANTES and MCP-1) thereby delaying the onset of and severity of autoimmune symptoms in MRL/lpr mouse model.  相似文献

Increased Fli-1 mRNA is present in PBLs from systemic lupus erythematosus patients, and transgenic overexpression of Fli-1 in normal mice leads to a lupus-like disease. We report in this study that MRL/lpr mice, an animal model of systemic lupus erythematosus, have increased splenic expression of Fli-1 protein compared with BALB/c mice. Using mice with targeted gene disruption, we examined the effect of reduced Fli-1 expression on disease development in MRL/lpr mice. Complete knockout of Fli-1 is lethal in utero. Fli-1 protein expression in heterozygous MRL/lpr (Fli-1(+/-)) mice was reduced by 50% compared with wild-type MRL/lpr (Fli-1(+/+)) mice. Fli-1(+/-) MRL/lpr mice had significantly decreased serum levels of total IgG and anti-dsDNA Abs as disease progressed. Fli-1(+/-) MRL/lpr mice had significantly increased splenic CD8(+) and naive T cells compared with Fli-1(+/+) MRL/lpr mice. Both in vivo and in vitro production of MCP-1 were significantly decreased in Fli-1(+/-) MRL/lpr mice. The Fli-1(+/-) mice had markedly decreased proteinuria and significantly lower pathologic renal scores. At 48 wk of age, survival was significantly increased in the Fli-1(+/-) MRL/lpr mice, as 100% of Fli-1(+/-) MRL/lpr mice were alive, in contrast to only 27% of Fli-1(+/+) mice. These findings indicate that Fli-1 expression is important in lupus-like disease development, and that modulation of Fli-1 expression profoundly decreases renal disease and improves survival in MRL/lpr mice.  相似文献

displays protective properties in lupus patients and MRL/lpr mice. It increases peripheral blood lymphocyte apoptosis via a mechanism involving γδ T cells. After intravenous administration, P140 accumulates in the lungs and spleen. It binds both the HSC70/Hsp73 chaperone and MHC class II (MHCII) molecules, which colocalize in splenic MRL/lpr B cells. Expression of HSC70 and MHCII, which is increased in MRL/lpr splenic B

cells, is diminished after P140 administration. P140 impairs refolding properties of HSC70 and alters expression of stable MHCII molecules in B lymphocytes. In MRL/lpr B cells, P140 increases the accumulation of the autophagy markers p62/SQSTM1 and LC3-II, consistent with a downregulation of autophagic flux. Our study reveals a very unique property of P140 peptide that alters the autophagy pathway leading to a defect of endogenous (auto)antigen processing in MRL/lpr antigen-presenting B cells and a decrease of T cell priming and signaling.  相似文献

Because the liver is the major organ responsible for removal of soluble immune complexes (IC), the surface binding characteristics of preformed model IC to unstimulated mouse liver nonparenchymal cells (NPC) in suspension were studied. NPC of non-autoimmune C3H/FeJ, C3H/HeJ, A/J, DBA/2 and the autoimmune NZB/W F1 and MRL/lpr female mice of various ages were isolated by perfusion of the portal vein with collagenase followed by separation of NPC from hepatocytes with a metrizamide gradient. Thirty-five percent of NPC of all mouse strains were nonspecific esterase-positive and phagocytosed latex beads. Radiolabeled mouse IgG anti-DNP covalently cross-linked stable IC were separated by gel filtration and bound to NPC under various conditions. Marked differences were noted in maximal number of IC bound per cell between the autoimmune and non-autoimmune mouse strains: 3.3 to 4.0 X 10(5) in the non-autoimmune strains vs 0.3 to 1.4 X 10(5) molecules of IC bound per cell in the autoimmune strains at 1 to 6 mo. Insignificant differences were noted in Ka by Scatchard plot analysis (3.5 to 5.0 X 10(8) M-1) and rate of reversibility of binding as determined by dissociation of surface-bound IC with an excess of heat-aggregated gamma-globulin (T 1/2:1.5 to 2 min). These data demonstrate a decreased number of available binding sites for IC in unstimulated NPC from NZB/W F1 and MRL/lpr female mice throughout their life spans. Although the findings are consistent with saturation of binding sites of the NPC with native IC, the abnormality found in the 1-mo-old autoimmune mice (who do not have detectable autoantibodies) suggests a primary defect in FC receptor expression or an altered state of activation of NPC that may contribute to the disease process.  相似文献

We have examined usage of variable region gene families of the immunoglobulin heavy chain (VH gene family) in spleens of MRL/MpJ-1pr/lpr (MRL/lpr), (NZB x NZW)F1, and BXSB mice by Northern analysis using various VH probes, including the VHPAR gene which we cloned and identified as a gene encoding the heavy-chain variable region of antipoly(ADP-ribose) antibody. The amount of VHS107 family mRNA was almost constant for the same amount of splenic crude RNA in autoimmune-prone and normal mice, while concentrations of other family mRNAs were elevated in autoimmune-prone mice. For example, per splenic RNA the VHPAR family was expressed in MRL/lpr mice 10 times more than in their normal counterpart, MRL/MpJ-+/+ (MRL/+) mice. These results indicate the bias of VH gene usage in autoimmune-prone mice. Expression of the VHS107 family was depressed from an early life stage of MRL/lpr and male BXSB mice. Furthermore, the expression of IL-4 and IL-5 were quantitatively compared, as B cell differentiation factor was thought to be produced by abnormally proliferative T cells in lymph nodes of MRL/lpr mice. We could not, however, observe overproduction of IL-4 and IL-5 mRNA in the lymph nodes.  相似文献

MRL-lpr/lpr mice and other autoimmune strains that bear the lpr gene develop a profound lymphadenopathy characterized by an expansion of a unique dull Lyt-1+2- T cell population. Because fresh splenic and lymph node T cells from such mice stimulated Con A in vitro are extremely defective in IL 2 production and proliferation, T cell lines derived from MRL-lpr/lpr spleens were established and maintained for several months, and were analyzed for their factor production to define their growth requirements. The results indicate that cultivation in vitro leads to constitutive production of IL 2 and the capacity to respond to growth factors, thereby facilitating the continuous proliferation of T cells bearing the dull Lyt-1+2- phenotype in vitro in the absence of exogenous antigen or mitogen. These studies indicate that MRL-lpr/lpr T cells have the ability to produce IL 2 and to respond to IL 2 with long-term proliferation. In addition, the impaired responsiveness to Con A of fresh MRL-lpr/lpr lymph node T cells was found to be quite transitory, because even short-term culture allowed MRL lpr/lpr T cells to respond normally.  相似文献

Objective

This study was performed to investigate the therapeutic effects of iguratimod in a lupus mouse model.

Methods

Female MRL/lpr mice were treated with iguratimod, vehicle solution or cyclophosphamide. Proteinuria was monitored and kidney injury was blindly scored by a renal pathologist. Serum anti-double-stranded DNA antibodies were monitored by radioimmunoassay. Kidney IgG and CD20 were stained by immunohistochemistry. Splenic lymphocyte phenotypes were analyzed by flow cytometry. BAFF, IL-17A, IL-6, and IL-21 levels in serum and splenic lymphocytes were detected by ELISA or quantitative PCR.

Results

Compared with the vehicle-treated controls, MRL/lpr mice treated with iguratimod showed less protenuria, less acute pathological lesions and no chronic changes in the kidneys. There were significant differences in glomerular injury and vasculitis scores, as well as in the semi-quantitave analysis of immune complex deposition between the two groups. Disease activity markers in sera (anti-dsDNA antibodies and immunoglobulin levels) were reduced and hypocomplementemia was attenuated. Lymphocyte expression of BAFF, IL-6, IL-17A and IL-21 was decreased. The abnormal splenic B220+ T cell and plasma cell populations in MRL/lpr mice were reduced by iguratimod treatment, with recovery of the total B cell population and inhibition of B cell infiltration of the kidney tissue. The dosage of iguratimod used in this study showed no significant cytotoxic effects in vivo and no overt side-effects were observed.

Conclusion

Iguratimod ameliorates immune nephritis in MRL/lpr mice via a non-antiproliferative mechanism. Our data suggest a potential therapeutic role of iguratimod in lupus.  相似文献

Interferon regulatory factor 5 (IRF5) polymorphisms are strongly associated with an increased risk of developing the autoimmune disease systemic lupus erythematosus. In mouse lupus models, IRF5-deficiency was shown to reduce disease severity consistent with an important role for IRF5 in disease pathogenesis. However these mouse studies were confounded by the recent demonstration that the IRF5 knockout mouse line contained a loss-of-function mutation in the dedicator of cytokinesis 2 (DOCK2) gene. As DOCK2 regulates lymphocyte trafficking and Toll-like receptor signaling, this raised the possibility that some of the protective effects attributed to IRF5 deficiency in the mouse lupus models may instead have been due to DOCK2 deficiency. We have therefore here evaluated the effect of IRF5-deficiency in the MRL/lpr mouse lupus model in the absence of the DOCK2 mutation. We find that IRF5-deficient (IRF5−/−) MRL/lpr mice develop much less severe disease than their IRF5-sufficient (IRF5+/+) littermates. Despite markedly lower serum levels of anti-nuclear autoantibodies and reduced total splenocyte and CD4+ T cell numbers, IRF5−/− MRL/lpr mice have similar numbers of all splenic B cell subsets compared to IRF5+/+ MRL/lpr mice, suggesting that IRF5 is not involved in B cell development up to the mature B cell stage. However, IRF5−/− MRL/lpr mice have greatly reduced numbers of spleen plasmablasts and bone marrow plasma cells. Serum levels of B lymphocyte stimulator (BLyS) were markedly elevated in the MRL/lpr mice but no effect of IRF5 on serum BLyS levels was seen. Overall our data demonstrate that IRF5 contributes to disease pathogenesis in the MRL/lpr lupus model and that this is due, at least in part, to the role of IRF5 in plasma cell formation. Our data also suggest that combined therapy targeting both IRF5 and BLyS might be a particularly effective therapeutic approach in lupus.  相似文献

The spontaneous spleen cell proliferation and the proliferation induced by in vivo or in vitro stimulation with such polyclonal B cell activators (PBA) as LPS, poly rI.rC, and anti-mu were studied in normal and autoimmune mice. The various murine models of autoimmunity differ in the level of naturally occurring splenic cellular hyperactivity as well as in the ability of their spleen cells to be further stimulated in vitro by polyclonal stimulators. Both the NZB strain and the MRL/Ipr strain had markedly increased numbers and percentages of spontaneously proliferating spleen cells, whereas the BXSB strain did not. Nonautoimmune strains were found to have very small numbers of activated cells in the spleen. However, such normal strains could be induced in vivo to mimic the natural splenic hyperactivity observed in older NZB and MRL/Ipr autoimmune strains by the injection of polyclonal B lymphocyte stimulators. In contrast, old hyperactive NZB mice were not further induced to undergo proliferation by in vivo administration of such stimulators. Density-separated, T depleted, spleen cells of normal and autoimmune mice were stimulated in vitro with PBA in 48-hr cultures. Cells from old MRL/Ipr and NZB mice were abnormal in both the anti-mu response and the LPS response; BXSB mice had normal anti-mu responses. These studies suggest that there is no prerequisite for spontaneous splenic hyperactivity in the development of autoimmunity. In addition, different PBA stimulate separate subsets of B cells that differ in their state of activation in the various autoimmune strains. Finally, different B cell subsets appear to be abnormal in different types of autoimmune mice.  相似文献

Data are presented showing that MRL/lpr in equilibrium DBA/2 tetraparental (allophenic) chimeras, unlike conventional lpr/lpr----+/lpr bone marrow chimeras, fail to develop graft-vs-host disease; instead they develop full-blown lymphoproliferation and autoantibody formation typical of unmanipulated MRL/lpr mice. The increase in the splenic and especially the lymph node mass is comprised predominantly of MRL/lpr-derived cells and all of the serum IgG2a is MRL/lpr derived. This dominance of MRL/lpr lymphoid activity occurred even in chimeras where greater than 90% of the skin and/or bone marrow cells were of the DBA/2 type. These results demonstrate the failure of the lpr environment to recruit normal B and T cells into the autoimmune process, the inability of normal cells to suppress MRL/lpr disease, and indicate further that the lpr mutation has an intrinsic effect on lymphocytes of both the B and T lineages.  相似文献

Summary The distribution of T-cells and B-cells in Peyer's patches was examined in three autoimmune model mice, MRL/Mp-lpr/lpr, BXSB, NZBWF1/J mice and normal BALB/c mice, between one and ten months old. A multiple layering technique was used for immunohistochemical detection of lymphocyte surface antigens of T-cells (Thy1.2, Lyt1, Lyt2) and B-cells (surface IgM) and peanut agglutinin receptor for germinal center cells. The T-cell population of female MRL/Mp-lpr/lpr mice increased markedly with age, and the B-cell population of the male BXSB mouse tended to increase. However, little change was observed with age in the NZBWF1/J mice. The immunohistochemical properties of the Peyer's patches in the three autoimmune model mice were different.  相似文献

Ia-positive splenic adherent cells (SAC) have been shown to be the predominant stimulators of a mixed lymphocyte response (MLR) to whole H-2 differences, in which most of the proliferative response is directed against I region-encoded determinants. The present studies were undertaken to examine the ability of several purified lymphoid subpopulations to activate T cells in response to the non-H-2-linked MIs products or to products of the K or D regions of H-2. The results demonstrated that adherent cell-depleted populations of T and B cells were nonstimulatory, whereas SAC were potent stimulators for responses involving each of these genetic differences. Treatment of these SAC with anti-Ia and C abrogated their MLR-stimulating ability. In contrast, whereas treatment of SAC with anti-Ia and C abrogated their ability to stimulate an MLR directed against K or D region-encoded determinants, this treatment had no effect on their ability to generate a cytotoxic T lymphocyte response against these same determinants. These findings suggest that in addition to presenting allogeneic I region-encoded determinants, Ia-positive SAC also play a unique role in the presentation of non-I region-encoded alloantigens to proliferating T cells.  相似文献

Patients with systemic autoimmune diseases such as SLE and rheumatoid arthritis have increased rates of morbidity and mortality caused by infection. Although this increased risk of infection has been primarily attributed to therapeutic immuno-suppression, some reports exist of defective polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) function in these patients. The purpose of the present work is to investigate the recruitment of PMN phagocytic function in a murine model of autoimmunity, the MRL/lpr mouse. PMN from MRL/lpr, but not from congenic MRL/n mice, exhibit a marked defect in the amplification of FcR-mediated phagocytosis stimulated by various inflammatory mediators. This defect is acquired and correlates with the onset of the autoimmune disease observed in this strain. In addition, MRL/lpr but not MRL/n PMN exhibit a defect in extravasation into the thioglycollate-inflamed peritoneum. Incubation of MRL/n PMN in MRL/lpr serum induces a defect in the amplification of PMN phagocytic function identical to that observed with MRL/lpr PMN. The activity in the serum that induces this defect is neutralized by an antibody to TGF-beta but not by control antibodies. Incubation of murine and human PMN with purified TGF-beta induces an identical defect in stimulated FcR-mediated ingestion. In addition, TGF-beta-treated MRL/n PMN fail to extravasate into the thioglycollate-inflamed peritoneum after injection into normal MRL/n recipient mice. In addition, direct injection of TGF-beta into MRL/n mice also reduces the percentage and number of PMN in the thioglycollate-stimulated peritoneal exudates of these mice. The defect in PMN extravasation and phagocytic function was not caused by failure of the defective PMN to modulate the expression of the adhesion molecules, Mac-1 and Mel-14. The distribution of T-cells and B-cells in Peyer's patches was examined in three autoimmune model mice, MRL/Mp-lpr/lpr, BXSB, NZBWF1/J mice and normal BALB/c mice, between one and ten months old. A multiple layering technique was used for immunohistochemical detection of lymphocyte surface antigens of T-cells (Thy1.2, Lyt1, Lyt2) and B-cells (surface IgM) and peanut agglutinin receptor for germinal center cells. The T-cell population of female MRL/Mp-lpr/lpr mice increased markedly with age, and the B-cell population of the male BXSB mouse tended to increase. However, little change was observed with age in the NZBWF1/J mice. The immunohistochemical properties of the Peyer's patches in the three autoimmune model mice were different.  相似文献

It has previously been shown that presensitized cells in culture medium release suppressor factors (SF) which can inhibit a primary mixed leukocyte reaction (MLA I). This occurs when the presensitized cells are resensitized with an HLA-DR-specific cell, which can be either the primary stimulator or any other DR-identical allogeneic cell. The autologous responders (SF producer cells) and certain allogeneic cells are suppressed, which suggests that restriction takes place. In this paper the effect of preincubation of responder or stimulator cells in SF has been studied: (1) When unprimed responders are preincubated with the suppressor supernates (SF) and tested in MLR I against several stimulators, the cells of the autologous SF producer and certain other allogeneic cells are always inhibited as already observed when SF was added directly to a mixed lymphocyte culture. (2) When the same stimulators are preincubated with the same SF and used as stimulators with the same responders (not preincubated) then inhibition is observed without restriction. This difference in behavior suggests the existence of at least two factors, one acting directly but only on some responders (restricted factor) and the other acting through stimulators on all responders. (3) Filtration of unprimed responders through glass wool (before SF preincubation and coculture with stimulators in MLR I) produces nonadherent T cells which are suppressed more after preincubation with SF than the same cells unfiltrated. This could be due to the existence of a subset of acceptor cells. (4) None of these factors has immunoglobulin characteristics.
