Three zones were distinguished according to the electrical conductivity of water in a flatland water reservoir: the transitional zone of the tributary, the frontal zone, and the transitional zone of the inlet. According to the presence of the edge effect, the frontal zone of the outfall area is identified as an ecotone. The buffer properties of the ecotone are conductive to the reduced response of the zooplankton to the increase in water temperature during an abnormally warm year. 相似文献

It is shown that, upon the flooding of ephemeral waterbodies in the coastal region and the formation of new warmer sites of the shoals due to the rising water level in Lake Sevan in 2011, species typical for temporary waterbodies and various shoals have been recorded in the zooplankton. Among them, Daphnia (Ctenodaphnia) magna Straus reached mass development, which was favored by the minimal control from “the top” and favorable trophic conditions. Owing to the abovementioned factors, the total lake zooplankton biomass and water transparency increased. The uneven distribution of D. (C.) magna was determined by the density of fish that prefer it as food. 相似文献

Lake ülemiste, the drinking water reservoir of Estonia’s capital city Tallinn, was biomanipulated by manual removal of cyprinids
in 2004–2006 and its impact on water quality in the vegetation period was studied. A total biomass of 156 tonnes corresponding
to 160 kg ha −1 of fish, predominantly cyprinids, were removed. A decline in the unit catches of fishing was observed. The removed fish biomass
versus phosphorus concentration of the lake was considered sufficient to reduce the impact of cyprinids on water quality.
The phosphorus removed within fish biomass corresponded to 38 μg l −1 and 21% of the external phosphorus load of the fishing period. The mean total phosphorus concentration dropped from >50 to
≤36 μg l −1. However, the densities of planktivorous young-of-the-year percids remained high and the role of zooplankton grazing in improving
water quality was found non-significant or transient. The cladocerans biomass decreased and the small-sized Daphnia cucullata remained almost the only daphnid in Lake ülemiste during and after the manipulation. Predomination of filamentous cyanobacteria
was replaced by a more diverse phytoplankton composition and co-domination of micro- and pico-sized colonial cyanobacteria
during summer. Mean phytoplankton biomass decreased from 15 to 6 mg l −1 primarily as a result of decreased in-lake TP availability. The Secchi disc transparency increased only in May 2005–2007.
The effects of coincidental events, a decline of external loading of phosphorus and a simultaneous flushing induced by heavy
rainfall, on lake water quality are discussed with some implications to the future management of the reservoir. 相似文献

In July 2010, abnormally high water temperature (25–29°C), as well as increased biomass and phytoplankton production caused intensive development of heterotrophic bacteria and heterotrophic nanoflagellates. It was found that the abundance, biomass, and production of heterotrophic bacterioplankton, as well as the abundance and biomass of heterotrophic nanoflagellates, and the number of planktonic viruses, which were calculated on average for the reservoir under study, turned out to be higher in the years with lower water temperature (20–23°C). The virus-induced mortality of bacterioplankton in the Oka River and the Cheboksary Reservoir averaged 25.4 ± 3.4 and 22.4 ± 2.7% of the daily bacterioplankton production. 相似文献

Temperature is considered as the major factor determining virus inactivation in the environment. Food industries, therefore, widely apply temperature as virus inactivating parameter. This review encompasses an overview of viral inactivation and virus genome degradation data from published literature as well as a statistical analysis and the development of empirical formulae to predict virus inactivation. A total of 658 data (time to obtain a first log(10) reduction) were collected from 76 published studies with 563 data on virus infectivity and 95 data on genome degradation. Linear model fitting was applied to analyse the effects of temperature, virus species, detection method (cell culture or molecular methods), matrix (simple or complex) and temperature category (<50 and ≥50°C). As expected, virus inactivation was found to be faster at temperatures ≥50°C than at temperatures <50°C, but there was also a significant temperature-matrix effect. Virus inactivation appeared to occur faster in complex than in simple matrices. In general, bacteriophages PRD1 and PhiX174 appeared to be highly persistent whatever the matrix or the temperature, which makes them useful indicators for virus inactivation studies. The virus genome was shown to be more resistant than infectious virus. Simple empirical formulas were developed that can be used to predict virus inactivation and genome degradation for untested temperatures, time points or even virus strains. 相似文献

Deep body temperatures were monitored with an implanted radiotelemetry device from 2 to 4 days prepartum to approximately 12 days postpartum in sows. The mean prepartum temperature of five normal sows was 38.6 degrees C, with a range of 38.3--38.9 degrees C. An increase in body temperature (1.4 degrees C) was associated with parturition. The increase in body temperature began about 12 hours before the first pig was born, peaked 1-2 hours after delivery of the last pig, and decreased during the first day postpartum but did not reach the prepartum values. Two days postpartum, the mean body temperature was about 1 degree C higher than it was during the prepartum period. The mean body temperature increased an average of 0.06 degrees C per day during the 12-day postpartum period. A diurnal pattern was evident in the body temperature variations. 相似文献

The abundance, biomass, production, and size and morphological structure of heterotrophic bacteria have been determined and their contribution to the total plankton biomass has been assessed in the Rybinsk Reservoir (the Upper Volga) during the ice-covered period. Structural and functional characteristics of bacteria, except for their cell sizes in winter, are lower than those in the growing season. However, heterotrophic bacteria have made the main contribution (89.3%) to the total biomass of plankton community in winter. During the growing season, phytoplankton is a major component of plankton (48.8%), while the bacteria average 36.5%. The total plankton biomass under the ice averages 148 mg C/m 3, which is 2.6 times lower than in the period of open water. During the ice-covered period, the number of protists is small and they consume an insignificant part of the bacterial production; viral lysis is the main reason for bacterial mortality. 相似文献

A methanogenic and sulfate-reducing consortium, which was enriched on medium containing tetrachloroethylene (PCE), had the ability to dechlorinate high concentrations of PCE. Dehalogenation was due to the direct activity of methanogens. However, interactions between methanogenic and sulfate-reducing bacteria involved modification of the dechlorination process according to culture conditions. In the absence of sulfate, the relative percentage of electrons used in PCE dehalogenation increased after an addition of lactate in batch conditions. The sulfate reducers would produce further reductant from lactate catabolism. This reductant might be used by methanogenic bacteria in PCE dechlorination. A mutualistic interaction was observed in the absence of sulfate. However in the presence of sulfate, methanogenesis and dechlorination decreased because of interspecific competition, probably between the H(2)-oxydizing methanogenic and sulfate-reducing bacteria in batch conditions. In the semicontinuous fixed-bed reactor, the presence of sulfate did not affect dechlorination and methanogenesis. The sulfate-reducing bacteria may not be competitors of H(2)-consuming methanogens in the reactor because of the existence of microbial biofilm. The presence of the fixed film may be an advantage for bioremediation and industrial treatment of effluent charged in sulfate and PCE. Heart rate variability (HRV) and body temperature during the sleep onset period was examined. The core body temperature and electrocardiogram were recorded continuously beginning 1 h before lights out (LO) until the end of the first rapid eye movement sleep (REM) in 14 young healthy subjects. HRV was calculated by the MemCalc method. The time course changes in body temperature and HRV was analyzed before and after sleep onset, and during the following eight consecutive phases: the 60 min before LO, the 30 min before LO, LO, first stage 2 (sleep onset), first slow wave sleep (SWS), stage 2 just before REM, start of REM, and end of REM. A clear decline was observed in the ratio of the low frequency (LF) to high frequency (HF) component of HRV (LF/HF), normalized LF (LF/(LF + HF)), and body temperature prior to sleep onset both in the time course of the sleep onset period and in the consecutive phases. The HF increased prior to sleep onset in the consecutive phases, while no clear increase was observed in the time course of sleep onset period. Changes in LF/(LF + HF) and LF/HF preceded SWS and REM. These results suggest the existence of a strong coupling between the cardiac autonomic nervous system and body temperature at the sleep onset period that may not be circadian effects. Furthermore, LF/(LF + HF) and LF/HF may possibly anticipate sleep and the onset of each sleep stage. 相似文献

We explored the impact of exposure to an obesogenic diet (High Fat–High Sucrose; HFS) during the post-weaning period on sweet preference and behaviors linked to reward and anxiety. All rats were fed chow. In addition a HFS-transient group had access to this diet for 10 days from post-natal (PN) day 22 and a HFS-continuous group continued access until adult. Behavioral tests were conducted immediately after PN 32 (adolescence) or after PN 60 (adult) and included: the condition place preference (CPP) test for chocolate, sugar and saccharin preference (anhedonia), the elevated plus maze (anxiety-like behavior) and the locomotor response to quinpirole in the open field. Behavior was unaltered in adult rats in the HFS-transient group, suggesting that a short exposure to this obesogenic food does not induce long-term effects in food preferences, reward perception and value of palatable food, anxiety or locomotor activity. Nevertheless, rats that continued to have access to HFS ate less chocolate during CPP training and consumed less saccharin and sucrose when tested in adolescence, effects that were attenuated when these rats became adult. Moreover, behavioral effects linked to transient HFS exposure in adolescence were not sustained if the rats did not remain on that diet until adult. Collectively our data demonstrate that exposure to fat and sucrose in adolescence can induce immediate reward hypofunction after only 10 days on the diet. Moreover, this effect is attenuated when the diet is extended until the adult period, and completely reversed when the HFS diet is removed. 相似文献

A knowledge of diel variation and the vertical distribution of phytoplankton communities may contribute to a better understanding
of the driving factors of key species. Applying functional-group classification provides important information on the causes
of species selection in the pelagic community. The diel variation of phytoplankton functional groups was analysed during an
autumnal stratification period with the aim of understanding their changes in the vertical position related to light, mixing
regime and grazing pressure. Phytoplankton and zooplankton communities were sampled every 4 h during a 24-h period in a vertical
profile in a subtropical meso-eutrophic reservoir. Strong stratification during a 24-h cycle and a mixed clear epilimnion
with partial atelomixis marked the autumn season in the Faxinal reservoir, southern Brazil. The highest phytoplankton densities
and biomass were found during the second part of the day, a general pattern reported in the literature, and may be explained
by zooplankton dynamics. During the 24-h cycle, phytoplankton functional groups lacking a self-regulating capacity and those
able to regulate their vertical position were vertically segregated in the lake. The diel behaviour of both groups was driven

Eutrophication modifies lakes' ecological balances and threatens its viability. To date, eutrophication management strategies have been related to nutrient reduction in the lakes' water column. However, nutrient reduction strategies are complicated by the variations of the lake's water level, nutrient concentration, and eutrophication symptom, which are primarily known to be influenced by the local rainfall patterns. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the variability of water level, total phosphorus, and total chlorophyll- a concentrations in Slim River Lake during wet and dry seasons. In this study, water sampling and depth measurements were carried out from six sampling points for 1 year. Water samples were used to quantify total phosphorus and total chlorophyll- a. Our results showed that mean water levels in the studied lake ranged from 1.36 m to 5.46 m in the wet season and from 1.31 m to 5.41 m in the dry season, which implicated no significant difference ( p > .05) between seasons in most sampling points. Total phosphorus present at concentrations exceeding 10 mg/L and showed small variations between wet and dry seasons. Mean total phosphorus concentrations varied from 10.55 mg/L to 26.66 mg/L in the wet season and 10.77 mg/L to 21.76 mg/L in the dry season and showed no significant difference between seasons. In addition, mean chlorophyll- a concentrations ranged from 14.35 mg/m 3 to 180.13 mg/m 3 and from 14.15 mg/m 3 to 39.27 mg/m 3 in wet and dry seasons, respectively. Chlorophyll- a concentrations showed significant differences ( p < .05) between seasons in the deepest sampling points in the lake. The observed seasonal variations in total chlorophyll- a suggest the importance of algae monitoring during the wet season even when no apparent surge of phosphorus concentration is detected. 相似文献

Work is devoted to studying of circulation of avian flu influenza A (H5N1) virus at poultry in territory of Novosibirsk region in preepizootic period. 1901 sample from clinically healthy poultry is collected and investigated. On chicken embryos it has been isolated 28 virions, including from poultry of the industrial maintenance--16, from the poultry contained in private farmsteads--12. At the analysis of isolates it has been shown, that among poultry in preepizootic period circulated various serovars of influenza viruses namely, HI, H4 and H3 serogroups. The percent of isolates from geese of the industrial maintenance increased to 0.6% depending on area. The percent of isolates from a bird contained in private farmsteads, increased to 7.5%. The greatest percent of isolates was observed from the samples taken from hens--77. Thus, it is shown, that among poultry circulation of not pathogenic influenza viruses of type A is the usual phenomenon, and asymptomatic carriers 7.5% of a livestock. Also it has been established, that in preepizootic period 2005 (January-June) at poultry it is not revealed influenza viruses of H5 serotype, caused epizootia at Summer of 2005 in territory of Western Siberia. 相似文献

The saline springs of Gypsum Hill in the Canadian high Arctic are a rare example of cold springs originating from deep groundwater and rising to the surface through thick permafrost. The heterotrophic bacteria and autotrophic sulfur-oxidizing bacteria (up to 40% of the total microbial community) isolated from the spring waters and sediments were classified into four phyla (Actinobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, and Proteobacteria) based on 16S rRNA gene analysis; heterotrophic isolates were primarily psychrotolerant, salt-tolerant, facultative anaerobes. Some of the isolates contained genes for thiosulfate oxidation (soxB) and anoxygenic photosynthesis (pufM), possibly enabling the strains to better compete in these sulfur-rich environments subject to long periods of illumination in the Arctic summer. Although leucine uptake by the spring water microbial community was low, CO(2) uptake was relatively high under dark incubation, reinforcing the idea that primary production by chemoautotrophs is an important process in the springs. The small amounts of hydrocarbons in gases exsolving from the springs (0.38 to 0.51% CH(4)) were compositionally and isotopically consistent with microbial methanogenesis and possible methanotrophy. Anaerobic heterotrophic sulfur oxidation and aerobic autotrophic sulfur oxidation activities were demonstrated in sediment slurries. Overall, our results describe an active microbial community capable of sustainability in an extreme environment that experiences prolonged periods of continuous light or darkness, low temperatures, and moderate salinity, where life seems to rely on chemolithoautotrophy. 相似文献
