Summary Core temperatureT c, breast temperatureT s–br and leg temperatureT s–1 were measured simultaneously in pigeons during rest and flight in a wind tunnel, using thermistors.MeanT c at rest is 39.8±0.7°C and is independent of ambient temperatureT a (10–30°C). In the first minutes of flight,T c increases to 1.5–3.0°C above resting level and remains at this higher level. This hyperthermia increases withT a (v=const.). It is±constant in the lowT a range (10.6–13.9°C) at flight speeds v ranging from 10–18 m s–1 and normal body mass, but increases with v and elevated body mass in the highT a range (23.7–28.8°C). T s–1 is adapted toT a at rest and increases in flight up to 3–4°C belowT c. This increase inT s–1 is linear toT a. Glutamate when microinjected at the medial preoptic area (mPOA) influences brain temperature (Tbr) and body temperature (Tb) in rats. Glutamate and its various receptors are present at the mPOA. The aim of this study was to identify the contribution of each of the ionotropic glutamatergic receptors at the mPOA on changes in Tbr and Tb in freely moving rats. Adult male Wistar rats (n=40) were implanted with bilateral guide cannula with indwelling styli above the mPOA. A telemetric transmitter was implanted at the peritoneum to record Tb and locomotor activity (LMA). A precalibrated thermocouple wire implanted near the hypothalamus was used to assess Tbr. Specific agonist for each ionotropic glutamate receptor was microinjected into the mPOA and its effects on temperature and LMA were measured in the rats. The rats were also microinjected with the respective ionotropic receptor antagonists, 15 min prior to the microinjection of each agonist. Amongst amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA), N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) and kainic acid, AMPA increased Tb and LMA when injected at the mPOA. Specific antagonists for AMPA receptors was able to attenuate this increase (p<0.005). Pharmacological blockade of NMDA was able to lower Tbr only. Microinjection of kainic acid and its antagonist had no effect on the variables. The finding of the study suggests that activation of the AMPA receptors at the mPOA, leads to the rise in body temperature.  相似文献

BackgroundThere has been considerable debate as to whether different modalities of simulated hypoxia induce similar cardiac responses.ResultsAll 14 subjects completed the experiment at GHA, 11 at NN, 12 under NH, and 6 under HH. The four groups were similar in age, sex and baseline demographics. At baseline rest right ventricular (RV) systolic pressure (RVSP, p = 0.0002), pulmonary vascular resistance (p = 0.0002) and acute mountain sickness (AMS) scores were higher and the SpO2 lower (p<0.0001) among all three hypoxic groups (GHA, NH and HH) compared with NN. At both 15 minutes and 120 minutes post exercise, AMS scores, Cardiac output, septal S’, lateral S’, tricuspid S’ and A’ velocities and RVSP were higher and SpO2 lower with all forms of hypoxia compared with NN. On post-test analysis, among the three hypoxia groups, SpO2 was lower at baseline and 15 minutes post exercise with GHA (89.3±3.4% and 89.3±2.2%) and HH (89.0±3.1 and (89.8±5.0) compared with NH (92.9±1.7 and 93.6±2.5%). The RV Myocardial Performance (Tei) Index and RVSP were significantly higher with HH than NH at 15 and 120 minutes post exercise respectively and tricuspid A’ was higher with GHA compared with NH at 15 minutes post exercise.ConclusionsGHA, NH and HH produce similar cardiac adaptations over short duration rest despite lower SpO2 levels with GHA and HH compared with NH. Notable differences emerge following exercise in SpO2, RVSP and RV cardiac function.  相似文献

Amplitude or frequency alterations of spontaneous brain oscillations may reveal pathological phenomena in the brain or predict recovery from brain lesions, but the temporal evolution and the functional significance of these changes is not well known. We performed follow-up recordings of spontaneous brain oscillations with whole-head MEG in 16 patients with first-ever stroke in the middle cerebral artery territory, affecting upper limb motor function, 1–7 days (T0), 1 month (T1), and 3 months (T2) after stroke, with concomitant clinical examination. Clinical test results improved significantly from T0 to T1 or T2. During recovery (at T1 and T2), the strength of temporo–parietal ∼10-Hz oscillations in the affected hemisphere (AH) was increased as compared with the unaffected hemisphere. Abnormal low-frequency magnetic activity (ALFMA) at ∼1 Hz in the AH was detected in the perilesional cortex in seven patients at T0. In four of these, ALFMA persisted at T2. In patients with ALFMA, the lesion size was significantly larger than in the rest of the patients, and worse clinical outcome was observed in patients with persisting ALFMA. Our results indicate that temporo–parietal ∼10-Hz oscillations are enhanced in the AH during recovery from stroke. Moreover, stroke causes ALFMA, which seems to persist in patients with worse clinical outcome.  相似文献

Increased nasal air flow during exercise was examined as a possible heat loss avenue contributing to selective brain cooling in hyperthermic humans. On 2 separate days, eight subjects [mean (SE) age, 26.4 (1.2) years] exercised on a cycle ergometer in a warm room [28 (0.2)°C; 28 (5)% relative humidity] to induce a moderate level of hyperthermia. In one session the nostrils were physically dilatated [average dilatation 1.55 (0.17) times] and in the other they were not (control). Both sessions started with a 5-min resting period; then subjects pedaled at 60 W for 5 min, 100 W for 15 min, and 150 W for 20 min. During dilatation both tympanic temperature (T ty) and forehead skin blood flow, estimated by laser doppler velocimetry, were significantly lower than during the control exercise of 150 W. Rates of increase of (T ty) during the 100-W exercise were the same in both conditions; however, during the 150-W exercise with dilatated nostrils (T ty) increased at a rate significantly lower than during control [1.1 (0.3)°C·h–1 vs 1.5 (0.4)°C·h–1]. The change in the rate of increase of T ty between conditions was significantly correlated to the degree of nostril dilatation (r = –0.77, P = 0.02), suggesting that the lower (T ty) observed was due to nostril dilatation. Facial skin temperature was not significantly different between sessions. The results suggest that the nasal cavity may act as a heat exchanger in selective brain cooling of exercising humans.  相似文献

Event-related potentials (ERP) of the brain and psychometric indices (reaction time and percentage of correct responses) were studied in adult subjects during recognizing hierarchical visual stimuli (letters), while the subject’s attention was drawn to either the global or the local level of the stimulus. The psychophysical indices demonstrated the global precedence effect, i.e., an increased recognition time of a small letter, which was a part of an incongruent stimulus. The ERP component analysis demonstrated that differences in the regulatory mechanisms of attention and timing and topography of brain organization during processing of visual information depended on the level of recognizing the hierarchical stimulus (global vs. local). Visual recognition at the local level was accompanied by a stronger activation of visual associative areas (P z and T 6) at the stage of sensory feature analysis (P1 ERP component), as well as by the predominant involvement of the temporal inferior cortex of the right hemisphere (T 6) at the stage of sensory categorization (the P2 ERP component) and of the frontal cortex of the right hemisphere at the stage of selection for the relevant target features (the N2 ERP component). Visual recognition at the global level was accompanied by significant involvement of the early sensory selection (the N1 ERP component) and predominant activation of the parietal cortex of the right hemisphere (P 4) at the stage of sensory categorization (the P2 ERP component), as well as at the stage of identification of the target stimulus (the P3 ERP component). Perception of a stimulus at the global level is assumed to depend mostly on the analysis of its spatial features in the dorsal visual system, whereas perception at the local level involves analysis of the object-related features in the ventral visual system.  相似文献

目的:探讨肺保护通气策略对老年患者行腹腔镜结直肠癌根治术肺部氧合功能及血清炎症介质水平的影响。方法:选择50例行择期腹腔镜结直肠癌根治术老年患者,ASA分级(美国麻醉医师协会体格情况评估分级)Ⅰ~Ⅱ级、年龄≥60岁,采用随机数字表法将其分为两组:VCV组和PCV组。在围术期行全麻机械通气中,VCV组采用容量通气模式,潮气量为8 m L/kg,PCV组采用肺保护通气,潮气量为6 m L/kg及5 cm H2O呼气末正压通气(positive end expiration pressure,PEEP),同时气腹后每30 min给予一次手法肺复张。记录患者气腹前5 min(T0)、气腹后5 min(T1)、气腹后30 min(T2)、气腹后60 min(T3)、气腹后120 min(T4)、气腹停止10 min后(T5)的呼吸力学指标、血流动力学指标于T0、T4、离开苏醒室时抽取血气,计算氧合指数(OI)值,于术前一天、T4、术后一天抽取静脉血,检测血浆CRP、IL-6的值。结果:与VCV组比较,PCV组在T4、T5时刻气道压降低,T4、T5肺顺应性增高(P<0.05)。两组患者血流动力学指标无明显差异。PCV组在离开苏醒室时氧合指数较高(P<0.05);PCV组在术后一天时刻IL-6和CRP值较低(P<0.05)。结论:肺保护性通气策略可以提高老年患者肺部氧合功能,减少炎症介质释放,减轻肺损伤。  相似文献

Adult subjects were asked to recognize a hierarchical visual stimulus (a letter) while their attention was drawn to either the global or local level of the stimulus. Event-related potentials (ERP) and behavioral indices (reaction time and percentage of correct responses) were measured. An analysis of behavioral indices showed the global level precedence effect, i.e. the increase in a small letter recognition time when this letter is a part of incongruent stimulus. An analysis of ERP components showed level-related (global vs. local) differences in the timing and topography of the brain organization of perceptual processing and regulatory mechanisms of attention. Visual recognition at the local level was accompanied by (1) stronger activation of the visual associative areas (P z and T 6) at the stage of sensory features analysis (P1 ERP component), (2) involvement mainly of inferior temporal cortices of the right hemisphere (T 6) at the stage of sensory categorization (P2 ERP component), and (3) involvement of prefrontal cortex of the right hemisphere at the stage of selection of the relevant features of the target (N2 ERP component). Visual recognition at the global level was accompanied by (1) pronounced involvement of mechanisms of early sensory selection (N1 ERP component), (2) prevailing activation of parietal cortex of the right hemisphere (P 4) at the stage of sensory categorization (P2 ERP component) as well as at the stage of the target stimulus identification (P3 ERP component). We suggested that perception of the hierarchical stimulus at the global level is related primarily to the analysis of its spatial features in the dorsal visual system whereas the perception at the local level primarily involves an analysis of the object-related features in the ventral visual system.  相似文献

ObjectivesIn the brain, the mechanisms of attention to the left and the right are known to be different. It is possible that brain activity when driving also differs with different horizontal road alignments (left or right curves), but little is known about this. We found driver brain activity to be different when driving on left and right curves, in an experiment using a large-scale driving simulator and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS).ResultsUnder driving conditions, there were no sites where cerebral oxygen exchange increased significantly more during right curves than during left curves (p > 0.05), but cerebral oxygen exchange increased significantly more during left curves (p < 0.05) in the right premotor cortex, the right frontal eye field and the bilateral prefrontal cortex. Under non-driving conditions, increases were significantly greater during left curves (p < 0.05) only in the right frontal eye field.ConclusionsLeft curve driving was thus found to require more brain activity at multiple sites, suggesting that left curve driving may require more visual attention than right curve driving. The right frontal eye field was activated under both driving and non-driving conditions.  相似文献

In [18F]-FEPPA positron emission topography (PET) imaging, automatic blood sampling system (ABSS) is currently the gold standard to obtain the blood time activity curve (TAC) required to extract the input function (IF). Here, we compare the performance of two image-based methods of IF extraction to the ABSS gold standard method for the quantification of translocator protein (TSPO) in the human brain. The IFs were obtained from a direct delineation of the internal carotid signal (CS) and a new concept of independent component analysis (ICA). PET scans were obtained from 18 healthy volunteers. The estimated total distribution volume (VT) by CS-IF and ICA-IF were compared to the reference VT obtained by ABSS-IF in the frontal and temporal cortex, cerebellum, striatum and thalamus regions. The VT values estimated using ICA-IF were more reliable than CS-IF for all brain regions. Specifically, the slope regression in the frontal cortex with ICA-IF was r2 = 0.91 (p<0.05), and r2 = 0.71 (p<0.05) using CS-IF.  相似文献

BackgroundIn patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing primary PCI, few data exist on the magnitude of platelet activation, aggregation and dosing of glycoprotein (GP) IIb/IIIa receptor inhibitors. Methods Sixty STEMI patients were randomised to abciximab, to high-dose tirofiban or to no additional GP IIb/IIIa inhibitor treatment. Platelet activation (P-selectin expression) was measured using flow cytometry and the level of inhibition of platelet aggregation was assessed using the Plateletworks assay. Additionally, the PFA-100 with the collagen/adenosine-diphosphate cartridge (CADP) was used to compare the levels of platelet inhibition. All measurements were performed at baseline (T0), immediately after (T1), 30 minutes (T2), 60 minutes (T3) and 120 minutes (T4) after primary PCI. Results The level of platelet activation in both GP IIb/IIIa receptor inhibitor treated groups was significantly lower compared with the control group at all time points after primary PCI (p=0.04). Also the administration of the currently recommended dose of abciximab resulted in significantly lower levels of inhibition of aggregation compared with high-dose tirofiban (p<0.0001). In addition, the CADP closure times were significantly prolonged in both GP IIb/IIIa inhibitor treated groups compared with the control group at time points T1 (p=0.006) and T4 (p<0.0001). Conclusion The administration of high-dose tirofiban resulted in a significantly higher inhibition of platelet aggregation compared with the currently recommended dose of abciximab. Large clinical trials are needed to assess whether this laboratory superiority of high-dose tirofiban translates into higher clinical efficacy. (Neth Heart J 2007;15:375-81.)  相似文献

We havepreviously documented the regional distribution of 70-kDa heat shockprotein (HSP70) in brains of rats made hyperthermic by brief exposureto high-powered microwaves (HPM; 2.06 GHz). We now compare HSP70expression induced by HPM exposure to that induced by exertionaland/or environmental heat stress. Rats were chronicallyimplanted with a temperature probe guide in the hypothalamic region ofthe brain (Tbr). After recovery,the following treatment groups were examined: HPM; sham exposed;treadmill exercise at room temperature (24°C; Ex-1); treadmillexercise in a warm environment (34°C; Ex-2); and sedentary groups(Sed-1 and Sed-2), in which ambient temperature was adjusted so thatthe Tbr mimicked the Tbr in the corresponding exercisegroups. Significant HSP70 expression occurred only in the hyperthermic(Ex-2, Sed-2, and HPM) groups. The pattern of HSP70 expression wassimilar among Ex-2 and Sed-2 rats but differed from that in HPM rats.We conclude that 1) the pattern ofHSP70 expression differs between HPM and nonmicrowave heating, and2) exercise alone was not sufficientto induce central HSP70 expression.

目的:探讨经皮穴位电刺激(TEAS)对老年髋关节置换术患者脑氧代谢以及术后认知功能、镇痛效果的影响。方法:选取2016年1月~2018年7月期间我院收治的行髋关节置换术患者91例为研究对象,将研究对象根据随机数字表法分为对照组(n=45)和研究组(n=46),对照组给予常规麻醉处理,研究组在对照组基础上给予TEAS,比较两组脑氧代谢、术后认知功能以及镇痛效果,记录两组术后的不良反应发生情况。结果:在降压开始后20 min(T1)、降压开始后40 min(T2)、停止降压后20 min(T3)时间点时,两组静脉血氧含量(Cjv O2)较降压前即刻(T0)时间点升高,且研究组高于对照组(P0.05),两组脑动-静脉血氧含量差(Da-jvO2)、脑氧摄取率(CERO2)较T0时间点降低,且研究组低于对照组(P0.05)。两组患者术后72h简易智能量表(MMSE)评分均较术前24h降低,但研究组高于对照组(P0.05),研究组术后认知功能障碍(POCD)发生率低于对照组(P0.05)。与术前比较,两组患者术后8h、术后24h、术后48h视觉疼痛模拟量表(VAS)评分均升高(P0.05),但研究组术后8h、术后24h、术后48h等时间点VAS评分均低于对照组(P0.05)。两组患者不良反应总发生率比较无差异(P0.05)。结论:TEAS对老年髋关节置换术后患者的镇痛效果确切,可有效改善脑氧代谢情况,提高术后认知功能,临床应用价值较高。  相似文献

BackgroundCalciprotein particles (CPPs) may play an important role in the calcification process. The calcification propensity of serum (T50) is highly predictive of all-cause mortality in chronic kidney disease patients. Whether T50 is therapeutically improvable, by high-flux hemodialysis (HD) or hemodiafiltration (HDF), has not been studied yet.MethodsWe designed a cross-sectional single center study, and included stable prevalent in-center dialysis patients on HD or HDF. Patients were divided into two groups based on dialysis modality, were on a thrice-weekly schedule, had a dialysis vintage of > 3 months and vascular access providing a blood flow rate > 300 ml/min. Calcification propensity of serum was measured by the time of transformation from primary to secondary CPP (T50 test), by time-resolved nephelometry.ResultsWe included 64 patients, mean convective volume was 21.7L (SD 3.3L). In the pooled analysis, T50 levels increased in both the HD and HDF group with pre- and post-dialysis (mean (SD)) of 244(64) - 301(57) and 253(55) - 304(61) min respectively (P = 0.43(HD vs. HDF)). The mean increase in T50 was 26.29% for HD and 21.97% for HDF patients (P = 0.61 (HD vs. HDF)). The delta values (Δ) of calcium, phosphate and serum albumin were equal in both groups. Baseline T50 was negatively correlated with phosphate, and positively correlated with serum magnesium and fetuin-A. The ΔT50 was mostly influenced by Δ phosphate (r = -0.342; P = 0.002 HD and r = -0.396; P<0.001 HDF) in both groups.ConclusionsHD and HDF patients present with same baseline T50 calcification propensity values pre-dialysis. Calcification propensity is significantly improved during both HD and HDF sessions without significant differences between both modalities.  相似文献

The central and peripheral levels of aromatic amino acids and monoamines have been studied in the X-linked mutants brindled (Mo br) and viable-brindled (Mo vbr) in the mouse. Significant differences were found in brain tyrosine (Mo br, Movbr) and tryptophan (Mo br) levels, which cannot be accounted for by observed changes in the systems of synthesis and degradation of these amino acids. Central norepinephrine is depressed to 30–45% (Mo br) and 55% (Mo vbr) normal level, but central dopamine and 5-hydroxy-tryptamine and peripheral norepinephrine are normal. These new data support the view that the effects of the mottled locus are not localized in the hair follicle, and the wider aspects of the mutant syndrome are discussed in relation to a possible neuroendocrine defect.  相似文献

Purpose Vivid motor imagery appears to be associated with improved motor learning efficiency. However, the practical difficulties in measuring vivid motor imagery warrant new analytical approaches. The present study aimed to determine the instruction conditions for which vividness in motor imagery could be more easily seen and the excitability of the sensory cortex as it relates to the motor image. Materials and methods In total, 15 healthy, right-handed volunteers were instructed to imagine grasping a rubber ball under a verbal-only instruction condition (verbal condition), a verbal?+?visual instruction condition (visual condition), and a verbal?+?execution (physically grasping a real ball) condition (execution condition). We analyzed motor imagery-related changes in somatosensory cortical excitability by comparing somatosensory-evoked potentials in each condition with the rest (control) condition. We also used a visual analogue scale to measure subject-reported vividness of imagery. Results We found the N33 component was significantly lower in the execution condition than in the rest condition (p?Conclusions These data suggest that experiencing a movement through actual motor execution immediately prior to performing mental imagery of that movement enhances the excitability of motor-related cortical areas. It is suggested that the excitability of the motor-related region increased as a result of the motor imagery in the execution condition acting on the corresponding somatosensory cortex.  相似文献

For reconstitution studies with rhodopsin and cGMP phosphodiesterase (PDE), all three subunits of heterotrimeric transducin (Tαβγ) were simultaneously expressed in Sf9 cells at high levels using a baculovirus expression system and purified to homogeneity. Light-activated rhodopsin catalyzed the loading of purified recombinant Tα with GTPγS. In vitro reconstitution of rhodopsin, recombinant transducin, and PDE in detergent solution resulted in cGMP hydrolysis upon illumination, demonstrating that recombinant transducin was able to activate PDE. The rate of cGMP hydrolysis by PDE as a function of GTPγS-loaded recombinant transducin (T*) concentration gave a Hill coefficient of approximately 2, suggesting that the activation of PDE by T* was cooperatively regulated. Furthermore, the kinetic rate constants for the activation of PDE by T* suggested that only the complex of PDE with two T* molecules, PDE · T2*, was significantly catalytically active under the conditions of the assay. We conclude that the model of essential coactivation best describes the activation of PDE by T* in a reconstituted vertebrate visual cascade using recombinant heterotrimeric transducin.  相似文献

In various occupations, workers may be exposed to extreme environmental conditions and physical activities. Under these conditions the ability to follow the workers' body temperature may protect them from overheating that may lead to heat related injuries. The "Dräger" Double Sensor (DS) is a novel device for assessing body-core temperature (Tc). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of the DS in measuring Tc under heat stress. Seventeen male participants performed a three stage protocol: 30 min rest in a thermal comfort environment (20–22 °C, 50% relative humidity), followed by an exposure to a hot environment of 40 °C, 40% relative humidity −30 min at rest and 60 min of exercise (walking on a treadmill at 5 km/h and 2% elevation). Simultaneously temperatures measured by the DS (TDS) and by rectal temperature (Tre) (YSI-401 thermistor) were recorded and then compared. During the three stages of the study the average temperature obtained by the DS was within±0.3 °C of rectal measurement. The correlation between TDS and Tre was significantly better during the heat exposures phases than during resting under comfort conditions. These preliminary results are promising for potential use of the DS by workers under field conditions and especially under environmental heat stress or when dressed in protective garments. For this goal, further investigations are required to validate the accuracy of the DS under various levels of heat stress, clothing and working levels.  相似文献

In this study, we tested the hypothesis that breathing hyperoxic air (FinO2 = 0.40) while exercising in a hot environment exerts negative effects on the total tissue level of haemoglobin concentration (tHb); core (Tcore) and skin (Tskin) temperatures; muscle activity; heart rate; blood concentration of lactate; pH; partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) and carbon dioxide; arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2); and perceptual responses. Ten well-trained male athletes cycled at submaximal intensity at 21°C or 33°C in randomized order: first for 20 min while breathing normal air (FinO2 = 0.21) and then 10 min with FinO2 = 0.40 (HOX). At both temperatures, SaO2 and PaO2, but not tHb, were increased by HOX. Tskin and perception of exertion and thermal discomfort were higher at 33°C than 21°C (p < 0.01), but independent of FinO2. Tcore and muscle activity were the same under all conditions (p > 0.07). Blood lactate and heart rate were higher at 33°C than 21°C. In conclusion, during 30 min of submaximal cycling at 21°C or 33°C, Tcore, Tskin and Tbody, tHb, muscle activity and ratings of perceived exertion and thermal discomfort were the same under normoxic and hyperoxic conditions. Accordingly, breathing hyperoxic air (FinO2 = 0.40) did not affect thermoregulation under these conditions.  相似文献

Purpose

A recent laboratory study demonstrated that the ingestion of a cold/menthol beverage improved exercise performance in a hot and humid environment during 20 km of all-out cycling. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine whether the ingestion of cold water/ice-slurry with menthol would improve performance in hot and humid outdoor conditions.

Methods

Ten trained males completed three trials of five blocks consisting of 4-km cycling and 1.5-km running. During warm-up, every block and recovery, the athletes drank 190 ml of aromatized (i.e., with 0.05 mL of menthol) beverage at three temperatures: Neutral (ambient temperature) (28.7°C±0. 5°C), Cold (3.1°C±0.6°C) or Ice-slurry (0.17°C±0.07°C). Trial time, core temperature (Tco), heart rate (HR), rate of perceived exertion (RPE), thermal sensation (TS) and thermal comfort (TC) were assessed.

Results

Ice-slurry/menthol increased performance by 6.2% and 3.3% compared with neutral water/menthol and cold water/menthol, respectively. No between-trial differences were noted for Tco, HR, RPE, TC and TS was lower with ice-slurry/menthol and cold water/menthol compared with neutral water/menthol.

Conclusion

A low drink temperature combined with menthol lessens the performance decline in hot/humid outdoor conditions (i.e., compared with cold water alone). Performances were better with no difference in psycho-physiological stress (Tco, HR and RPE) between trials. The changes in perceptual parameters caused by absorbing a cold/menthol beverage reflect the psychological impact. The mechanism leading to these results seems to involve brain integration of signals from physiological and psychological sources.  相似文献
