The developing taste buds of vallate papillae were studied with electron microscope in rats during the first 7 days after birth. Two types of cells--light and dark--are identified in the taste buds of a one day old animal. The apical parts of dark cells are characterized by numerous dark granules. A distinguishing feature of light cells is the presence of synaptic contacts with afferent intragemmal nerves. On the 4th day of development on the top of the apical parts of the cell, a microvillar apparatus is seen to form, which does not yet communicate with the oral cavity. On the 7th day, basal cells appear in the taste buds. Some of these cells are seen mitotically dividing. The differentiated microvillar apparatus now communicates with oral cavity. The structure of the taste buds is getting similar to that in the adults. The structural and functional peculiarities of the developing taste buds are discussed in association with the period of ontogenesis under consideration.  相似文献

The results of human dwelling houses surveying for the presence of home dust mites and study of seasonal changes of their quantity in the town of Cheboksary are given. It has been found that the old wooden houses are inhabited by mites, in modern blocks of flats they are met rather seldom. The quantity of alive mites is maximum in September-October. The common number of mites is the greatest in December-January although the quantity of alive mites at this time is only 6.8%.  相似文献

通过对朝鲜碱茅种群正常花序大样本取样的调查与测定,定量分析了松嫩平原朝鲜碱茅种群的有性生殖构件数量特性,结果表明:朝鲜碱茅种群的有性生殖构件各组成之间具有较强的变化规律,均受到生殖蘖高、花序长、花序节数3者不同程度的制约;花序各构件在空间上的分布也存在较强的规律性。  相似文献

Summary In the mouse, the rostral zone of the pars intermedia is almost exclusively composed of typical corticotrophic cells. They are located around and even within the neural stalk, at the level of transition between stalk and neural lobe. In the rat, the corticotrophic cells of the rostral zone are found in scattered islets among the MSH producing cells, and also in the neural lobe. In both the rat and mouse, these cells are in direct contact with various types of nerve terminals. Synaptoid contacts with aminergic and neurosecretory nerve fibers are observed. Furthermore they are also closely related to the hypophysial portal vessels. Following adrenalectomy, the cells located in the neurohypophysis always react more intensely than tose in the rostral zone. The functional significance of these corticotrophic cells which are subject to both humoral and neural regulation remains as yet hypothetical. Their participation in neurogenic stress response seems probable.  相似文献

Biologicals can be defined as products that are derived from living organisms or are produced by them. They include vaccines, hormones, monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, blood products and rDNA products. The production of conventionally produced biologicals requires an extensive batch-related quality control, to ensure that these products are both safe and potent. As several of the control tests rely on animal models, it is inevitable that the large numbers of animals are used. Many initiatives have been undertaken in the last few decades to reduce and refine the use of animals in this area. ECVAM has been involved in many activities to support the development, validation and implementation of these Three Rs methods. The role that ECVAM has played in a number of validation studies is summarised. It is concluded that ECVAM should continue to support the activities that have been shown to be successful, preferably in collaboration with the regulatory bodies.  相似文献

The endodermal cells of the shoot are thought to be the gravity-sensing cells in Arabidopsis. The amyloplasts in the endodermis that sediment in the direction of gravity may act as statoliths. Endodermis-specific expression of SGR2 and ZIG using the SCR promoter could complement the abnormal shoot gravitropism of the sgr2 and zig mutants, respectively. The abnormalities in amyloplast sedimentation observed in both mutants recovered simultaneously. These results indicate that both genes in the endodermal cell layer are crucial for shoot gravitropism. ZIG encodes AtVTI11, which is a SNARE involved in vesicle transport to the vacuole. The fusion protein of SGR2 and green fluorescent protein localized to the vacuole and small organelles. These observations indicate that ZIG and SGR2 are involved in the formation and function of the vacuole, a notion supported by the results of subcellular analysis of the sgr2 and zig mutants with electron microscopy. These results strongly suggest that the vacuole participates in the early events of gravitropism and that SGR2 and ZIG functions are involved.  相似文献

By means of transmissive electron microscopy methods, general regularities in development of the microcirculatory system have been studied at early stages of the human prenatal ontogenesis in functionally different organs. Ultrastructure of two cell types has been described in the mesenchyme of human embryos. Formation mechanisms of the primary blood vessels belonging to the protocapillary type are revealed. Structural peculiarities of the primary protocapillary network differentiating into various links of the secondary organospecific hemomicrocirculatory bed are distinguished. Certain stageness in development of the microcirculatory system is stated, its blood circulatory compartment including. Two stages are determined in development of the microcirculatory system: prevascular and vascular microcirculation. The latter includes the precirculatory and circulatory phases.  相似文献

The results of 5-year studies on macrozoobenthos in the Vyatka River in the area of the Chemical-Weapons Destruction Facility (CWDF) (settlement of Mirny, Kirov oblast) at the stage of neutralization of organophosphorous agents are presented. The taxonomic composition, dynamics of quantitative parameters, and structure of communities of bottom invertebrates are considered. A bioindicational assessment of water quality is made. The conservation of the total taxonomic richness and increase in the total biomass of zoobenthos are established. Processes of organic pollution and eutrophication in the Vyatka River are determined.  相似文献

The secretory endpieces of the rabbit submandibular gland are unusual in that they consist of seromucous acini (not demilunes) that empty into serous tubules that in turn drain into intercalated ducts. Seromucous granules consist of a moderately dense spherule in a fibrillogranular matrix. Serous granules contain a feltwork of filaments, which are liberated as a tangled skein during exocytosis. Peculiar granulated cells that have secretory granules of complex morphology are present at each end of the serous tubules. Intercalated ducts are, cytologically speaking, relatively simple, but the duct cells may contain a few oblong secretory granules. Striated ducts are typical in structure, although postfixation with ferrocyanide-reduced osmium reveals significant amounts of glycogen in the basal processes. Modified mitochondria are present in striated duct cells, but their frequency varies from rabbit to rabbit. Such mitochondria contain either an array of parallel, rigid cristae linked by intermembranous bridges, or a bundle of helical filaments within an expanded crista. Interspersed with the striated duct cells, especially near the duct origin, are some highly vacuolated cells with sparse mitochondria. Excretory ducts consisting of stratified columnar (sometimes pseudostratified) epithelium often show bleb formation of the luminal surface of the tall cells.  相似文献

In experiments on rats it has been demonstrated that in the acute period of uninjured parts of the lungs periodic changes of protein, lipid and glucose concentrations developed. In uninjured parts of the lungs one can observe more concentration of lipids and in injured parts-more glucose. The changes of substrates, concentrations in the lungs are due to not only the changes of venous blood excess in the lungs, but are connected with metabolic changes in the cells of the injured and uninjured parts of the lungs. The metabolic changes in the lungs in the acute period of chest trauma influence the creation of such indices of gas exchange as PaCO2 and PACO2.  相似文献

Studies have been made on the ultrastructure of cardiomyocytes during hibernation and arousal of the ground squirrel C. undulatus. It was found that the number of elements of the rough endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex, vesicles and ribosomes increases in the perinuclear areas of cardiomyocytes during arousal of animals. These areas are saturated with lipid inclusions and mitochondria. Numerous vesicles and fringed bubbles were found near the plasma membrane which has many caveolae. These findings may indicate the intense metabolism of the membrane material between plasmalemma and cytoplasmic vesicles. Possible mode of rapid reorganization of the sarcolemma and changes in its functional properties during hibernation-arousal stages are suggested. It is concluded that apart from structural and functional properties which are acquired by cells during preparation of animals to hibernation and which exhibit only small changes during the whole period of hibernation, cyclic changes in plasmalemma structure and function occur during arousal of the ground squirrels.  相似文献

The subsynaptic structure of the synapses in the medial nucleus of the trapezoid body was studied in the bat Myotis oxygnatus. The synaptic endings in the nucleus are represented by large-cup-shaped and small loop-shaped terminations. The cup-shaped terminations are formed of large branches originating from a thick myelinated fibre after loss of myelin from it. Each branch forms a series of contacts alternating with vast enlargements of extracellular space, on the body of the cell and its processes. Large branches are filled with synaptic vesicles, neurofilaments and neurotubules, mitochondria; all these components are distributed rather regularly along the branch diameter. In fine branches of the cup the synaptic vesicles are the main and often the only component. The pattern of the cup branch changes as the distance from the main fibre increases, namely the amount of neurofilaments and neurotubules diminishes up to their disappearance, while the amount and the density of synaptic vesicles increases. The small loop-shaped treminals are different from the cup-shaped ones by the composition of the synaptic vesicles and the structure of the contact zone. In addition to agranular vesicles there are also granular ones. Both types of terminations--cup-shaped and loop-shaped ones -- are found both on the bodies and dendrites. On distal portions of dendrites the terminations are disposed in nests.  相似文献

In the cingulate cortex of rats the marginal glia is predominantly presented as fibrillar astrocytes, their bodies are situated immediately at the surface. Numerous axons, dendrites, synapses and myelinated fibers are often arranged near the very surface and are separated from it with only 1-2 thin processes of glial cells. Along the whole cortical surface one can see a limiting membrane--a layer of non-cellular substance, situating at the distance of 60-100 mcm from plasmalemmas of the marginal astrocytes. Using ruthenium red, it is possible to reveal the glycocalix layer on the surface of the limiting membrane, as well as cords of the electron opaque substance, that connect it with plasmolemma of the superficial astrocytes. Three types of the cingulate cortex surface are described in rats: superficial areas to which cells of the pia mater membrane adjoin; areas where cells of the pia mater membrane are situated at various distance from the cortical surface and areas of close adjoining of the right and left hemispheres of the cerebrum. Sometimes the cleft between the hemispheres is completely reduced, and narrow lamellar-like cells of the pia mater membrane are tightly inserted between the limiting membranes of both hemispheres or adjoin the blood vessel, situating between the hemispheres. At the surface numerous gap and desmosome-like junctions are observed. This is especially important at the border where the media are separated. At injection of neurotoxin 6-hydroxydopamine certain ultrastructural rearrangements are noted in cytoplasm of the marginal astrocytes, changes in the number and extension of intercellular junctions.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Iron is essential for the normal functioning of cells but since it is also capable of generating toxic reactive oxygen species, the metabolism of iron is tightly regulated. The present article advances the view that astrocytes are largely responsible for distributing iron in the brain. Capillary endothelial cells are separated from the neuropil by the endfeet of astrocytes, so astrocytes are ideally positioned to regulate the transport of iron to other brain cells and to protect them if iron breaches the blood-brain barrier. Astrocytes do not appear to have a high metabolic requirement for iron yet they possess transporters for transferrin, haemin and non-transferrin-bound iron. They store iron efficiently in ferritin and can export iron by a mechanism that involves ferroportin and ceruloplasmin. Since astrocytes are a common site of abnormal iron accumulation in ageing and neurodegenerative disorders, they may represent a new therapeutic target for the treatment of iron-mediated oxidative stress.  相似文献

A possibility of tissue metaplasia (transformation of one cell type into another) during limb regeneration in lower vertebrates has been a matter of vivid arguments over the last decades. These discussions are rather irreconcilable in character mainly due to the lack of reliable cell markers which permit to follow all the stages of cell transformation during metaplasia. The final conclusions can be made only if any artifacts of cell labelling are excluded. Latest findings obtained using nuclear and cytoplasmic markers are presented which suggest that many data interpreted previously as a convincing proof of metaplasia may be a consequence of the involvement of nondifferentiated cells in regeneration. Molecular biological approaches are believed to be most promising for the solution of disputable problems of tissue metaplasia. However, recent findings about actin gene hypomethylation are insufficient for any final conclusions about the possibility of metaplasia during limb regeneration. The answer to many unsolved questions of developmental biology can be made only when combined use is made of modern methods of cell and molecular biology.  相似文献

The experiments in adult rabbits revealed that in the blood flowing in cerebral veins the red cell concentration and hematocrit are much greater than in the veins of hind legs of the same animals. In blood samples taken from the heart these values are higher than in those taken from the hind leg, but usually lower than in blood samples taken from the brain. Under conditions of reduced cerebral blood flow (ischemia) the red cell concentration and hematocrit in the brain vessels decrease significantly as compared to the control conditions. Thus, the red cell distribution in arterial branching sequence is irregular, depending both on the localization of the vascular bed and the blood flow rate in it.  相似文献

In albino rats, as in other mammals, nucleoli with nucleolonemata and compact nucleoli in the stem cells of the erythrocyte and granulocyte series are progressively replaced during maturation and differentiation first by ring shaped nucleoli and then by micronucleoli with low and finally with inhibited RNA synthesis. There are, however, differences between the nucleolar coefficient values and the proportion of ring shaped nucleoli and micronucleoli in maturing neutrophils in the albino rat, the mouse and man. In the case of the erythroblasts, the differences between the proportion of various nucleolar types in the three given species are smaller. The results thus indicate that the developmental trend of nucleolar changes related to cell maturation and differentiation is the same, but that there are interspecies differences because of which the results obtained in one species cannot be applied mechanically to another, i.e. results obtained in a laboratory animal cannot be applied automatically to man.  相似文献
