Weight–length relationships (WLR) are presented for 50 fish species from the seagrass beds of Guadeloupe and Martinique. Samples were taken in shallow waters (<2 m) with different types of fishing gear: seine net, hoop net and gill net. The b coefficient in the WLR varied between 2.63 and 3.61 and showed a mean value of 3.07 (SE = ± 0.06).  相似文献

Weight–length (W–L) relationships were estimated for 46 species of fish captured off the western Portuguese coast between April 1994 and September 1995. The best‐represented family was Scyliorhinidae (2677 fishes), followed by Gadidae (1871), Sparidae (1682) and Merlucciidae (1108). The estimates for the parameter b of the W–L relationship (W = aLb) ranged between 2.171 and 3.873, with a median of 3.124. Significant variations in b were found at seasonal level for striped red mullet (Mullus surmuletus), axillary seabream (Pagellus acarne), greater weever (Trachinus draco) and the sardine (Sardina pilchardus), at the regional level for Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus), and between sexes for the small‐spotted dogfish (Scyliorhinus canicula).  相似文献

This study reports weight–length relationships (WLR) for Salmo trutta (Linnaeus, 1758), Phoxinus phoxinus (Linnaeus, 1758), Chondrostoma Chondrostoma miegii (Steindachner, 1866), Barbus graellsii (Steindachner, 1866), Barbatula barbatula (Linnaeus, 1758) and Gobio gobio (Linnaeus, 1758). Specimens were collected by electrofishing during summer between 1996 and 1998. The b values in the WLR W = aLb varied between 2.97 and 3.42. To the best knowledge of the authors, this study presents the first reference on WLRs for four of the species in Spanish waters.  相似文献

Weight–length relationships are presented for 63 fish species sampled with a commercial trawl vessel at depths ranging from 28 to 370 m between February 2005 and April 2006 in Saros Bay, Turkey. Saros Bay was closed to trawl fishery in 2000, thus, most of the demersal fish species sampled were relatively undisturbed.  相似文献

Weight–length relationships were estimated for 20 Lessepsian fish species of the Iskenderun Bay, namely, Apogon nigripinnis , Apogon queketti , Callionymus flamentosus , Cynoglossus sinusarabici , Dussumieria elopsoides , Etrumeus teres , Fistularia commersonii , Lagocephalus spadiceus , Lagocephalus suezensis , Leiognathus kluzingeri , Nemipterus japonicus , Oxyurichthys petersenii , Saurida undosquamis , Sillago sihama , Siganus luridus , Siganus rivulatus , Sphyraena chroysotaeina , Stephanolepis diaspros , Upeneus moluccensis and Upeneus pori . All regressions were found to be significant for all species. This study presents the first estimation of weight–length relationships for six species ( A. queketti , E. teres , F. commersonii , L. suezensis , Nemipterus randalli , and S. luridus ) inhabiting coastal areas of the northeastern Mediterranean Sea.  相似文献

Gurnards or triglids are medium‐size marine bottom fishes that live in tropical and temperate seas. Four genera (Aspitrigla, Chelidonichthys, Lepidotrigla, Trigla) and eight species are found in the eastern Atlantic. In this study, we report the weight–length relationships for eight species, with 75 specimens of A. cuculus, 45 of C. obscurus, 84 C. gurnardus, 21 C. lucernus, 45 C. lastoviza, 550 L. cavillone, 255 L. dieuzeidei and 40 T. lyra. These triglids were caught by three different methods: crustacean trawl, fish trawl and purse seine off the Algarve coast; all specimens sampled were part of the discards. Samples were obtained from depths ranging between 20 and 540 m, during 27 trips and 86 hauls. To the best knowledge of the authors, this study presents the first reference on weight–length relationships for four fish species from the Algarve coast (southern Portugal).  相似文献

Length–weight relationships were estimated for 20 species of the Jurumirim reservoir (southern Brazil): one Pimelodidae, one Callichthyidae, six Characidae, one Prochilodontidae, six Anastomidae, one Erythrinidae, two Curimatidae, one Paradontidae and one Cichlidae. The fishes were collected during 2001–2002 using three different types of fishing gear that allowed collection of both adult and juvenile specimens. The first reference of length–weight relationships for 12 species is provided.  相似文献

In the course of a phylogenetic analysis and systematic revision ofCharianthus, it was discovered thatC. purpureus, as traditionally circumscribed, is polyphyletic, consisting of three morphologically diagnosable entities. Thus two new species,Charianthus dominicensis andC. grenadensis, are described and illustrated. Each is endemic to the Lesser Antillean island for which it is named—Dominica and Grenada, respectively.Charianthus, the only vascular plant genus endemic to the Lesser Antilles, comprises six species of nectariferous, hummingbird-pollinated shrubs and small trees.  相似文献

We present the relationships between total (TL), fork (FL) and standard (SL) length for 37 fish species and the relationships between TL and wet weight for 40 fish species from the Aegean Sea (Cyclades; Greece). The relationships between TL, FL and SL were all linear (for all cases: r 2 > 0.928). The values of the exponent b of the length–weight relationships ranged from 2.235 to 3.704.  相似文献

Length–weight and length–length relationships are described for 10 of the most important and most frequent small, middle‐size and large pelagic fish species from the Adriatic Sea, namely Sardina pilchardus Walbaum 1792, Sardinella aurita Valenciennes 1847, Sprattus sprattus Linnaeus 1758, Engraulis encrasicolus Linnaeus 1758, Belone belone Linnaeus 1761, Scomber scombrus Linnaeus 1758, Scomber japonicus Houttuyn 1780, Thunnus thynnus Linnaeus 1758, Auxis rochei Risso 1810 and Sarda sarda Bloch 1793. Length–length equations for converting size measurements: standard length (SL) and fork length (FL) to total length (TL) and vice versa, were linear.  相似文献

We present 54 weight–length relationships pertaining to 36 fish species, caught in the Greek part of the River Strymon system (northern Greece). The total weight (W) – total length (TL) relationships were estimated using the logarithmic form of the equation W = aTLb. The exponent b ranged between 2.34 and 3.95, (mean ± SE: 3.16 ± 0.044). For 5 out of the 36 species weight–length parameters are presented for the first time.  相似文献

The length‐weight relationships were determined for eight fish species [Zebrias zebra (Bloch, 1787); Zebrias quagga (Kaup, 1858); Amblyotrypauchen arctocephalus (Alcock, 1890); Gerres japonicus Bleeker, 1854; Apogonichthyoides pseudotaeniatus (Gon, 1986); Setipinna tenuifilis (Valenciennes, 1848); Bregmaceros rarisquamosus Munro, 1950; Bregmaceros nectabanus Whitley, 1941] belonging to six families. Fish samples were collected using gillnets (20 × 10 m, mesh size 0.5 cm) and cage net (200 × 10 × 15 cm, mesh size 0.5 cm) from mangroves of Guangdong, China. Samples were collected quarterly from June 2015 to March 2017.The allometric coefficient (b) of length‐weight relationship varied from 2.76 for Zebrias zebra to 3.38 for Setipinna tenuifilis. Length‐weight relationships for these 11 fish species were determined for the first time.  相似文献
