Abstract

Mediterranean karst springs are affected by strong climatic seasonality, with long, dry and hot summers and are increasingly threatened by anthropogenic pressures. In Sardinia (western Mediterranean Sea, Italy), they are largely unexplored and their biocoenoses are mostly unknown. The diatom flora from two substrates (cobbles and macrophytes) in eight springs of different areas of the island was investigated in summer 2016 and winter 2017. A total of 162 diatom taxa (58 genera) were found of which 27 (17 genera) only on cobbles and 26 (18 genera) only on macrophytes. The most abundant species from both substrates were Achnanthidium minutissimum, Amphora indistincta, Amphora pediculus, Cocconeis euglypta, Planothidium frequentissimum and P. lanceolatum. Overall, 67 taxa (40 genera) were recorded in single sites and some of these taxa showed high affinity with specific environmental conditions. Hydrological stability (water flow permanence), discharge and nutrients were the main environmental factors influencing diatom assemblages. Our results suggest that diatoms can reflect important local factors related to the vulnerability of these spring ecosystems and underline the importance of their preservation both for biodiversity and water quality maintenance.  相似文献

研究了北京市区沿城乡梯度带河流底栖硅藻的空间分布及其季节变化特征。通过在2014年的春季、夏季和秋季在山区对照溪流、城市上游河道和城市下游河道3个样区,共23个样点进行了底栖硅藻样品采集。分析表明,主要优势种的空间差异明显。在对照溪流,主要优势种为极小曲丝藻(Achnanthidium minutissimum);在城市上游河道,主要优势种分别为短文假十字脆杆藻(Pseudostaurosira brevistriata)和连结十字脆杆藻腹面变种(Staurosira construens var.venter);在城市下游河道,主要优势种为谷皮菱形藻(Nitzschia palea)。然而,3个样区内的主要优势种相对丰度季节变化较小(P0.05)。其中,A.minutissimum及P.brevistriata的季节变化特征均为春季秋季夏季,而S.construens var.venter及N.palea的季节变化特征均为春季夏季秋季。结果发现,北京市城乡梯度带的河流硅藻种类组成差异较大,但主要优势属种季节变化相对较小,表明硅藻种类能较好地反映城乡梯度带的河流环境变化状况,可用于北京市河流水质生物监测。  相似文献

The seasonal fluctuations of fungi were studied in 72 soil samples collected at 10-day intervals between January 1972 and December 1973. The richest periods in the fungal population were January, March and September–December 1972, and April, May, September, November and December 1973. The poorest months were consistently June and July of 1972 and 1973 and August 1973 which are all summer months. Thirty-nine genera were isolated of which Aspergillus, Penicillium, Fusarium, Mucor, Rhizopus and Humicola were of high seasonal occurrence. Seven genera were of moderate occurrence and these were Cochliobolus,Stachybotrys, Paecilomyces, Cunninghamella, Myrothecium, Chaetomium and Sepedonium. The remaining genera were of low or rare seasonal occurrence. Aspergillus showed its highest prevalence during the periods May-September 1972 and April-August 1973. Twenty-four species of Aspergillus in addition to two varieties of A. nidulans were isolated, of which A. niger, A. fumigatus, A. terreus, A. nidulans and A. sydowii were dominant. Thirty species of Penicillium were identified, of which P. notatum, P. funiculosum and P. chrysogenum were of high seasonal occurrence. Penicillium predominated during winter and spring months. Fusarium showed its highest percentage populations during the periods February, March, April, October, November and December 1972 and February, August, September, October and November 1973. Four species of Mucor were recorded of which M. racemosus was the commonest; and its highest percentage populations were recorded in November 1972; and February, March and November 1973 which are moderate temperature months. Rhizopus was represented by two species of which R. nigricans was of high seasonal occurrence. Three species of Humicola were isolated of which H. grisea was the most common.  相似文献

为了研究兰州市北山绿化工程的植被恢复状况,于2016年4月和7月,对北山罗九公路绿化工程区的人工林及荒坡、半荒坡共6个样点进行野外调查采样,分析土壤纤毛虫群落组成及其影响因素。研究结果表明:(1)春季有10纲21目34科44属80种,夏季10纲21目38科54属104种。春夏季的优势类群均为尖毛科(Plagiocampidae),优势种为膨胀肾形虫(Colpoda inflate)和盘状肾形虫(Colpoda patella)。(2)土壤纤毛虫的丰度、物种数和多样性指数夏季高于春季,且人工林样点的土壤纤毛虫的丰度、物种数和多样性指数均高于荒坡;(3)春季土壤有机碳、土壤温度和电导率是影响土壤纤毛虫物种数分布的主要环境因子;夏季土壤有机碳、土壤温度及pH是影响土壤纤毛虫物种数分布的主要因子。总体而言,人工林土壤恢复较荒坡、半荒坡好,而人工林中杨树林和侧柏林的土壤环境质量较优。  相似文献

Soils of 10 poultry farms from Namakkal and 12 feather dumping sites from Chennai were studied for the presence of keratinophilic fungi. A total of 34 species belonging to 19 genera and one non-sporulating fungus were recovered. Sixteen species of fungi and one non-sporulating fungi were common to both sites, eight species were specific to Namakkal and nine species were specific to Chennai. Dermatophytes and closely related fungi were represented by six species belonging to five genera. Fungal species commonly found in the soil samples included Chrysosporium keratinophilum (73%), Trichophyton mentagrophytes (68.2%), Microsporum gypseum (64%), Myceliopthora vellerea (32%), Chrysosporium state of Arthroderma tuberculatum (27.3%) and Geomyces pannorum (23%). Non-dermatophyte fungi were represented by 28 species belonging to 14 genera and one non-sporulating fungus.  相似文献

Hummock grasses in the genus Triodia R. Br. were examined at 116 recently burned locations across mainland Australia, and were recorded as regenerating by resprouting, or by seed only. Prior to this survey it was known that the capacity to resprout varies considerably in Triodia, but it was unclear whether some species might be entirely resprouting and other species entirely fire-killed; whether this might be associated with particular traits of species or particular landscape types; or whether resprouting might be more common in particular regions such as the northern monsoonal grasslands. Seven species had both fire-killed and resprouting populations represented among the sites examined. Three species [T. basedowii E. Pritzel, T. marginata N.T. Burbidge and T. melvillei (C.E. Hubbard) Lazarides] were recorded as fire-killed at all sites examined, and five species [T. bynoei (C.E. Hubbard) Lazarides, T. bunicola (S.W.L. Jacobs) Lazarides, T. intermedia Cheel, T. molesta N.T. Burbidge and T. spicata N.T. Burbidge] were recorded as resprouting at all sites. Another seven species were recorded at one site only. There was no clear overall trend for fire-killed populations to be more prevalent in south rather than north, or east vs west, or coastal vs inland parts of the continent. No clear relationships were found between regeneration strategy and site attributes. Considered as a group, resprouting species were more likely to have an open growth form than a dense growth form, whereas the opposite was true for fire-killed species. Given that no trait either of species or of landscape was found to be a consistent correlate of resprouting, a likely inference is that resprouting might vary between different fires, even for a given population at a given site. Against this inference, fire-killed populations had substantial densities of seedlings much more often. Longitudinal studies would be needed to demonstrate directly whether resprouting varied between different fires at a site, and to investigate the implications of this for maintenance or extinction of local populations.  相似文献

Understanding how vegetation composition varies with season and interannual climate variability is important for any ecological research that uses vegetation data derived from surveys for the basis of inference. Misunderstanding this variation can influence land management and planning decisions, leading to poor implementation of biodiversity offsetting mechanisms, for example. We monitored plots (400 m2) grazed by livestock paired with adjacent ungrazed plots in derived native pastures four times a year over 2.5 years on the North‐West Slopes of New South Wales. Species density in plots varied greatly with season and interannual rainfall. Highest species density was recorded in spring, though species density in summer was not significantly lower, nor was a spring–summer peak in species density evident in the 2009 drought. Surveys in spring 2008 had the highest species density, and recorded only 60–72% of the total species recorded at each site over 2.5 years. Variation in the proportion of total site diversity represented in combinations of two or three surveys was large, though the best combinations comprised surveys from spring and summer in years of above‐average rainfall, either from the same spring‐summer, or from different years. Compositional differences among sites were much greater than within sites, showing that differences among sites related to broad environmental gradients were not overwhelmed by seasonal and interannual variability in site composition. When grazing was excluded, there was no evidence of competitive exclusion by the dominant grasses, and no directional shift in composition. The implications of these findings for ecological research depend on the question being addressed: if capturing a large proportion of site diversity is important, then surveys must be carefully timed, or repeat surveys must be conducted. Single surveys did not effectively capture site diversity for use in biodiversity offsetting, and the timing of repeat surveys was critical.  相似文献

Heavy metal–contaminated soils are a serious environmental problem. Herein, the culturable heterotrophic bacterial community present on two metal(loid)-contaminated sites in the Northern Portugal was investigated. The bacterial counts ranged from 5.96 to 7.69 and 7.04 to 7.51 (log CFU g?1 soil) in Sites 1 and 3, respectively. The bacterial population was predominantly composed of Firmicutes, Proteobacteria, and Actinobacteria on both sites. The most represented genera in Site 1 were Bacillus (41%) and Pseudomonas (27%), whereas Arthrobacter (21%) and Pseudomonas (13%) were the most represented genera in Site 3. Several bacterial isolates showed tolerance to high concentrations of metal(loid)s, suggesting that both contaminated sites are a valuable source of metal(loid)-tolerant bacteria, which may be further used in bioremediation and/or phytoremediation processes.  相似文献

New data on 129 bacterial isolates were analyzed together with prior samples to characterize community-level patterns of legume–rhizobial symbiosis on Barro Colorado Island (BCI), Panama. Nodules have been sampled from 24 BCI legume species in 18 genera, representing about one quarter of the legume species and one half of the genera on the island. Most BCI legumes associated exclusively with nodule symbionts in the genus Bradyrhizobium, which comprised 86.3% of all isolates (315 of 365). Most of the remaining isolates (44 of 365) belonged to the β-proteobacterial genus Burkholderia; these were restricted to two genera in the legume subfamily Mimosoideae. Multilocus sequence analysis indicated that BCI Bradyrhizobium strains were differentiated into at least eight lineages with deoxyribonucleic acid divergence of the same magnitude as found among currently recognized species in this bacterial genus. Two of these lineages were widely distributed across BCI legumes. One lineage was utilized by 15 host species of diverse life form (herbs, lianas, and trees) in 12 genera spanning two legume subfamilies. A second common lineage closely related to the taxon B. elkanii was associated with at least five legume genera in four separate tribes. Thus, BCI legume species from diverse clades within the family frequently share interaction with a few common lineages of nodule symbionts. However, certain host species were associated with unique symbiont lineages that have not been found on other coexisting BCI legumes. More comprehensive sampling of host taxa will be needed to characterize the overall diversity of nodule bacteria and the patterns of symbiont sharing among legumes in this community.  相似文献

One hundred and twenty sites, from six localities from the Sudan Gezira were examined for soil mycoflora. The lower fungi were mostly represented by mucoraceous genera, such as Rhizopus, Mucor and Cunninghamella. Oomycetes were rare. Ascomycetes, other than the perfect states of Aspergillus, were not common. Only Chaetomium globosum was isolated from the six localities. Monascus, Thermoascus, Neocosmospora and Pyronema were recorded for the first time from Sudanese soils. The majority of the isolates were Hyphomycetes. The bulk of the fungal population were species of Aspergillus, of which A. niger was the most common, followed by A. terreus, A. flavus, A. nidulans and A. fumigatus. Other Aspergilli were sporadic. A. niveus and A. sejunctus were not previously reported from Sudanese soil.  相似文献

The distribution of rotifer communities between emergent (Typha angustifolia) and submerged (Chara tomentosa) vegetation and a comparatively open water zone were compared during the spring, summer and autumn seasons at three macrophyte-dominated lakes. This survey identified 107 rotifera species of which 58% of the taxonomical structure was common for the three examined lakes. Stoneworts with a more complicated spatial and morphological structure (having a much longer stem length than the narrow leaf cattail), supported higher rotifer densities. The stem length appeared to be the best predictor of all the macrophyte parameters and pH and chlorophyll a for the chemical variables, for explaining the variation of rotifer densities using the stepwise multiple forward regressions. The distribution of pelagic species did not differ between particular sites, which may have reflected the behavioural requirements of those rotifers. Some of them remained in the open water zone while others seeking an anti-predator refuge, gathered within macrophyte stands during the daytime. Moreover, there were nine Chara-associated species recorded and only one Typha-associated species was noted. The WWF Oasis of Palo, 38 kms north of Rome, is one of the last remnants of the Mediterranean plain forest formerly covering the coastal areas of Latium. Within this preserved area, nine temporary waterbodies were periodically visited during 2001 to obtain information on their morphology, water cycle and faunal composition. In total, 25 crustacean species were listed and monthly changes in their abundance were recorded. Cladoceran species prevailed in all waterbodies (11 species, 7 genera, 2 families). Copepoda were represented by 8 species, 7 genera, 2 families. Ostracoda included 5 species, 5 genera, 3 families. Anostracans were recorded in only two pools and were represented by Chirocephalus diaphanus Prévost, 1803, the most common species in Italy. Chirocephalus kerkyrensis Pesta, 1936 usually occurring in the waterbodies of the Mediterranean maquis, was missing. Species richness was maximal in late autumn and winter, and correlated positively with pond duration, flooded area, water level and number of rainpools. The species most frequently recorded were Chydorus sphaericus O.F. Müller, 1785 and Daphnia curvirostris Eylmann, 1887 for Cladocera, Megacyclops viridis Jurine, 1820, Diacyclops bicuspidatus odessanus Shmankevitch, 1875 and Mixodiaptomus kupelwieseri Brehm, 1907 for Copepoda, Cyclocypris ovum Jurine, 1820 and Eucypris virens Jurine, 1820 for Ostracoda. Others, like Alona affinis Leydig, 1860, Ceriodaphnia pulchella Sars, 1862 (Cladocera), Macrocyclops albidus Jurine, 1820 (Copepoda), Herpetocypris reptans Baird, 1835 Fabaeformiscandona fabaeformis Fischer, 1854 (Ostracoda) were found in only one pool.  相似文献

Twenty-six genera and Sixty-six species, in addition to two varieties of Aspergillus nidulans and one variety of Humicola grisea were isolated from 80 peanut seed (uncovered or covered within shell at the time of sampling) samples and 40 samples of shells collected from different places in Egypt.At 28 °C, the broadest spectrum of genera and species was recorded in the shells (21 genera and 53 species), followed by the naked seeds (16 genera and 38 species) and the covered seeds (17 genera and 33 species). Aspergillus and Penicillium were regularly the most common genera in the three substrates. A. niger, A. fumigatus, A. flavus A. terreus, A. ochraceus and P. funiculosum were generally the most common fungal species recovered from the three substrates. A. flavus was represented in 80%, 60% and 80% of the samples constituting 16.1%, 8.4% and 27.2% of the total count of fungi of the shells, covered and uncovered seeds respectively.At 45 °C, nine genera and sixteen species were collected of which Aspergillus fumigatus was extremely dominant in the three substrates, followed by A. terreus and A. niger. To assess the extent of genotypic and phenotypic diversity within species of purple nonsulfur bacteria found in aquatic sediments, a total of 128 strains were directly isolated from agar plates that had been inoculated with sediment samples from Haren and De Biesbosch in The Netherlands. All isolates were initially characterized by BOX-PCR genomic DNA fingerprinting, and 60 distinct genotypes were identified. Analyses of 16S rRNA gene sequences of representatives of each genotype showed that five and eight different phylotypes of purple nonsulfur bacteria were obtained from the Haren and De Biesbosch sites, respectively. At the Haren site, 80.5% of the clones were Rhodopseudomonas palustris, whereas Rhodoferax fermentans and Rhodopseudomonas palustris were numerically dominant at the De Biesbosch site and constituted 45.9 and 34.4% of the isolates obtained, respectively. BOX-PCR genomic fingerprints showed that there was a high level of genotypic diversity within each of these species. The genomic fingerprints of Rhodopseudomonas palustris isolates were significantly different for isolates from the two sampling sites, suggesting that certain strains may be endemic to each sampling site. Not all Rhodopseudomonas palustris isolates could degrade benzoate, a feature that has previously been thought to be characteristic of the species. There were differences in the BOX-PCR genomic fingerprints and restriction fragment length polymorphisms of benzoate-coenzyme A ligase genes and form I and form II ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (RubisCO) genes between benzoate-degrading and non-benzoate-degrading genotypes. The ability to distinguish these two Rhodopseudomonas palustris groups based on multiple genetic differences may reflect an incipient speciation event resulting from adaptive evolution to local environmental conditions.  相似文献

Rivers may serve as reservoirs for enteric organisms. Very little is known about the boundaries of microbial communities in moving bodies of water so this study was undertaken to find the limits of distribution of some bacteria, focusing on enteric organisms. The presence of Salmonella, Campylobacter, and Enterococcus spp. and the antimicrobial resistance phenotypes carried by these organisms was evaluated for the Upper Oconee River basin, a small river in the lower Piedmont of northeastern Georgia, USA. Samples were obtained from 83 sites during a 3-h period on a spring day (April 2005) in an approximately 30 × 20 km region. Campylobacter spp. was isolated at 12 sites. The Campylobacter isolates from three sites were resistant to tetracycline. Of the five short-variable region (SVR) subtypes of Campylobacter that were found, three were found at more than one site, two types were found twice, and one subtype was found three times. Enterococcus was isolated at 71 sites. E. casseliflavus was the most common species. Based on species identification and antimicrobial resistance patterns, 24 types of Enterococcus were found. Salmonella was isolated from 62 sites. Of the 19 Salmonella serovars that were isolated, serovar Muenchen accounted for about 20% of the isolates. The next three most common serovars isolated, Rubislaw, Hartford, and Give, accounted for about 44% of the river isolates. Antimicrobial resistance profiling offered limited differentiation of Salmonella isolates because only seven isolates were resistant to any antimicrobial. The sites at which Salmonella, Campylobacter, or Enterococcus were isolated did not correlate with each other or with the total coliform number or Escherichia coli count for the site. However, isolates of some of the same species and type occurred in clusters that were restricted to areas within 5 to 6 km.  相似文献

Three orchid genera, Paphiopedilum, Cymbidium, and Dendrobium, are among the most heavily traded ornamental plants in Thailand. In this study, 27 isolates of Rhizoctonia-like fungi were isolated from root sections of mature orchids in the three orchid genera, collected from diverse horticultural settings in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces of Thailand. Fungal identification was done by the morphological characterization, the comparison of the internal transcribed spacer and 5.8S ribosomal DNA sequences, and the phylogenetic analysis. Epulorhiza repens was found to be the most common species found in the roots of various species of all three orchid genera, whereas Epulorhiza calendulina-like isolates were strictly found in the roots of Paphiopedilum species. We have also isolated and described an anamorph of Tulasnella irregularis, four new anamorphic species in the genus Tulasnella, and a new anamorphic species in the family Tulasnellaceae. Our study provides information on diversity of root-associated fungi of the orchid genera and at the sampling sites that were rarely addressed in the previous studies.  相似文献

随着城市生态健康理念的提出,城市河涌生态健康也受到了前所未有的关注。为更好的了解河涌的水环境和浮游植物现状,于2015年3月至2016年2月对珠江口南沙河涌8个站位水环境和浮游植物群落结构进行调查。结果显示:共发现浮游植物164种(属),隶属7门73属,其中以绿藻种类最多,达33属79种,占48.17%;硅藻次之,17属41种,占25%。优势种为梅尼小环藻(Cyclotella meneghiniana)、假鱼腥藻属(Pseudanabaena sp.)和小球藻(Chlorella vulgaris)。浮游植物细胞密度在0.19×10~6—101.34×10~6个/L内变动,呈现单峰型,在4月发生拟菱形弓形藻(Schroederia nitzschioides)水华,14涌密度高达87.38×10~6个/L,随后因强降雨细胞密度骤降。浮游植物群落的季节演替基本符合PEG(Plankton Ecology Group)模型,从冬季的硅藻,到春夏季的绿藻,再到秋季的蓝藻。One-way ANOVA分析显示,各月份浮游植物细胞密度差异显著(P0.01)。Pearson相关性分析表明绿藻细胞丰度变化主导着浮游植物总丰度的变化(r=0.454,P0.01)。运用Margalef物种丰富度指数、Shannon物种多样性指数、Pielou均匀度指数对水体进行评价表明,调查水体呈中度污染。相关加权营养状态指数表明,河涌全年处于富营养化状态。浮游植物聚类分析表明,时间异质性较高,总体相似性较低;空间上相似性较高,人为活动可能是导致空间差异的关键因子。冗余分析显示,叶绿素a、溶解氧、盐度、水温、总氮和p H与浮游植物群落结构关系最为密切。p H对硅藻门浮游植物影响较大,碱性条件适宜直链藻生长,春季水华形成的驱动因子是盐度、温度和总氮。  相似文献

A diverse and active microbial community in the stratal waters of the Daqing oil field (China), which is exploited with the use of water-flooding, was found to contain aerobic chemoheterotrophic bacteria (including hydrocarbon-oxidizing ones) and anaerobic fermentative, sulfate-reducing, and methanogenic bacteria. The aerobic bacteria were most abundant in the near-bottom zones of injection wells. Twenty pure cultures of aerobic saprotrophic bacteria were isolated from the stratal waters. Under laboratory conditions, they grew at temperatures, pH, and salinity values typical of the stratal water from which they were isolated. These isolates were found to be able to utilize crude oil and a wide range of hydrocarbons, fatty acids, and alcohols. Phylogenetic analysis carried out with the use of complete 16S rRNA sequences showed that the isolates could be divided into three major groups: gram-positive bacteria with a high and a low G+C content of DNA and gram-negative bacteria of the -subclass of the Proteobacteria. Gram-positive isolates belonged to the genera Bacillus, Brevibacillus, Rhodococcus, Dietzia, Kocuria, Gordonia, Cellulomonas, and Clavibacter. Gram-negative isolates belonged to the genera Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter. In their 16S rRNA sequences, many isolates were similar to the known microbial species and some probably represented new species.  相似文献
