Representatives of the genus Oreoleuciscus (Altai osmans) from the water bodies of Western Mongolia were examined for sequence polymorphism of the mitochondrial DNA fragment containing the cytochrome b (Cyt-b) gene. A total of 17 sequence variants (haplotypes) were discovered, which formed two clusters, A and B, with nonoverlapping geographic localization. Cluster A included haplotypes of Altai osmans from the Valley of Lakes water bodies. Cluster B consisted of two subclusters, the first of which (B1) united sequence variants of the populations from Hollow of the Great Lakes and the lakes of the Great Altai Range. The second subcluster (B2) was formed by the haplotypes originating from the Hollow of the Lake Uvs, some isolated lakes of the Northwestern Khangay region, and the water bodies of the Arctic Ocean Basin (basins of Selenga and Orchon rivers). Based on the genetic divergence estimates and the radiation time of genetic geographic groups identified, the existence of three allopatric species of Altaic osmans in the genus Oreoleuciscus was substantiated.  相似文献

The morphology of the endemic Altai osmans Oreoleuciscus spp. (Cyprinidae), from headwaters of the Ob tributaries in the Altai Republic (Russia), Terekhol Lake in the Tuva Republic (Russia), and the Chovd Gol River drainage and related bodies of water (Mongolia), where they are one of only four fish species occurring in most bodies of water were examined. Their high degree of morphological variation makes species determination problematical. Analysis of six meristic counts and principal component analysis (PCA) of 21 morphological measurements discriminated two species, Oreoleuciscus potanini and O. humilis . The results suggest that only O. potanini occurs in the upper reaches of the Ob system. The systematics and biogeography of Oreoleuciscus are discussed.  相似文献

Using five microsatellite loci, genotyping and genetic diversity estimates were obtained for nine samples representing seven common carp breeds most widespread in Russia. For comparison, the samples of Amur wild common carp (Cyprinus carpio haematopterus) and a sample of European Hungarian carp were used. In the samples examined (n = 148) a total of 78 alleles were revealed. The highest mean allele number per locus (7.3) was identified in Amur wild common carp, while the lowest number was found in Cherepets carps (4.0). In different breeds, the observed heterozygosities varied from 0.819 (Altai carp) to 0.651 (Cherepets scaly carp). Three out of five microsatellite loci (MFW-24, MFW-28, and MFW-19) revealed a high level of population differentiation. In the dendrogram of genetic differences, all breeds clustered into two groups. One of these groups was composed of the two strains of Ropsha carp, Stavropol carp, Amur wild common carp, and the two samples of Cherepets carp. The second cluster included Altai carp (Priobskii and Chumysh populations), two Angelinskii carp breeds (mirror and scaly), and Hungarian carp. The pairs of breeds/populations/strains, having common origin, were differentiated. Specifically, these were two populations of Altai carp, two strains of Ropsha carp, as well as the breeds of Angelinskii and Cherepets carps. The reasons for genetic differentiation of Russian common carp breeds, as well as the concordance of the evolutionary histories of these breeds, some of which originated from the European breeds, while the others contain substantial admixture of the Amur wild common carp, are discussed.  相似文献

The taxonomic positions, origin, and kinship of various forms of the Altai gray wolf remain debatable. A protocol for simple sequence repeat analysis, which is among the basic tools in phylogeographical studies, has been developed and tested. The study was conducted with 97 gray wolf (Canis lupus L.) individuals from populations inhabiting the plain-steppe, foothill forest-steppe, and mountain-taiga ecotopes of Altai Krai and the Altai Republic. The SSR loci chosen as molecular markers are highly efficient. The results confirm that the forest-steppe Altai gray wolf population is a part of the mountain-taiga population.  相似文献

The soil seed bank represents the potential plant population since it is the source for population replacement. The genetic structure of a Stipa kryiovii (Roshev.) plant population and its soil seed bank was investigated in the Xilinguole Steppe of Inner Mongolia using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analyses. The population was sampled at two sites that were in close proximity to each other (0.5 km apart). Thirty plants and 18 seed bank samples were taken from each site to determine the genetic diversity between sites and between sources (plant or seed). The material was analyzed using 13 primers to produce 92 loci. Eighty-six were multi-loci, of which 23 loci (26.74%) of allele frequencies showed significant differences (P ≤ 0.05). The genetic similarity between two seed bank sites was 0.9843 while the genetic similarity between two plant sites was 0.9619. Their similarities were all greater than that between the seed bank and plant populations. An analysis of their genetic structure showed that 87.86% of total variation was derived by two-loci. Genetic structures between plant and soil seed bank populations in S. krylovii were different due to the variance of mean gametic disequilibria and mean gene diversity. AMOVA results showed that the majority of variance (88.62%) occurred within sites, 12.75% was from between-groups. Further research is needed to investigate the selective function in maintaining the genetic diversity of Stipa krylovii plant populations.  相似文献

Molecular genetic analysis of Altai osmans of the genus Oreoleuciscus from two different parts of the range was carried out. In this study, based on the mitochondrial Co-1 gene sequence, a total of 25 fish specimens belonging to four genera were examined: (1) O. humilis, 2 specimens; O. potanini, 13 specimens; (2) Pseudaspius leptocephalus, 1 specimen; (3) Tribolodon brandtii, T. hakonensis, and T. sachalinensis from the GanBank database, 9 speciens; and (4) Leuciscus waleckii, 1 specimen (used as an outgroup). The p-distances were very low both within and between the species: (1) 0.20 ± 0.03%; (2) 0.40 ± 0.12%; and (1–2) 0.80 ± 0.04%. To visualize the relationships among all of the species examined, the neighbor joining (NJ), maximum parsimony (MP), Bayesian (BA), and maximum likelihood (ML) trees were constructed. The results obtained using these methods were very similar. It was demonstrated that species assignment of the individuals (barcoding) with the help Co-1 gene was effective, despite of very low divergence of the two osman taxa, which was comparable with typical intraspecific values in other animal groups. Taxonomic status of O. potanini and O. humilis requires further investigation with paying attention to low genetic distances between these species along with the lack of material from sympatric parts of the ranges.  相似文献

We examine the diversity of six microsatellite loci and partial RAG1 exon of “barabensis” and “pseudogriseus” karyoforms in Cricetulus barabensis sensu lato species complex. A total of 435 specimens from 68 localities ranging from Altai to the Far East are investigated. The results of the population structure analysis (factor analysis and NJ tree based on Nei genetic distances) support subdivision into two well-differentiated clusters corresponding to the two karyoforms. These karyoforms are also well differentiated by the level of microsatellite variability. In several “barabensis” specimens, we found microsatellite alleles that are common in “pseudogriseus” populations but are otherwise absent in “barabensis.” Most of these specimens originate from a single population in one of the zones of potential contact between karyoforms, Kharkhorin in Central Mongolia. These molecular results are consistent with previously published karyological data in suggesting that rare hybridization events between the two chromosomal races occur in nature.  相似文献

The composition of the essential oil from the wormwood sage (Artemisia frigida Willd., Asteraceae) of populations growing in the Altai Territory, the Altai Republic, the Khakass Republic, the Tuva Republic, and the East-Kazakhstan region of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the representative species of the silver-leaved wormwood Artemisia argyrophylla Ledeb. growing in the Republic Altai has been studied by chromato-mass spectrometry. An analysis of 15 samples of the essential oil from A. frigida obtained over a period from 1999 to 2007 indicates that samples from different populations have similar sets of the main components: α-pinene (0.2–7.8%), camphene (1.9–5.8%), 1,8-cineole (8.9–33.8%), camphor (6.7–40.0%), borneol (3.9–12.3%), terpine-4-ol (1.5–6.5%), bornyl acetate (1.4–22.0%), and germacrene D (1.4–14.6%). Some samples contain substantial amounts of α- and β-thujones (in total up to 19.1%), which are completely absent in other samples. Some samples contain santolina alcohol (up to 13.8%) and its acetate (up to 4.8%). As differentiated from A. frigida, the essential oil of A. argyrophylla contains yomogi alcohol (1.2%), artemisia ketone (12.9%), artemisia alcohol (3.1%), artemisia alcohol acetate (3.9%), and small amounts of camphor (3.2%), borneol (0.3%), and bornyl acetate (0.2%).  相似文献

The polymorphism of the major noncoding region of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA D loop, 528 bp) has been studied in samples from three modern Kazakh populations (from Almaty, the Semipalatinsk Region, and the Altai Mountains) and in DNA samples of ancient human populations of the Kazakhstani Altai. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis for 13 restriction sites, including BamHI, EcoRV, Sau3AI (one site each), KpnI (two sites), HaeIII (three sites), and RsaI (five sites) were used. The frequency distributions of all sites have been determined. The gene diversity (h) and the genetic distances between different Kazakh populations and other populations of the world have been calculated. The RFLP analysis of the mtDNA control region of fossil samples has been performed similarly to the analysis of modern mtDNA samples. Two fossil mtDNA samples from burial mound 11 are monomorphic with respect to all restriction sites analyzed.  相似文献

Analysis of the published data on the population dynamics of the beet webworm Loxostege sticticalis L., including its relation to solar activity, was made. The official statistical data from Russia and China testify to asynchronous outbreaks of the webworm in these countries, which suggests the existence of at least two population systems within the species range, the Euro-Siberian (Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan) and Central Asian (China and Mongolia) ones, geographically isolated by mountain systems (Tien Shan, Pamir, Altai, and the Sayan mountains) and deserts and bridged by the narrow East Siberian corridor. The theoretical and applied aspects of this conclusion are discussed, including the necessity for further studying of the population dynamics of this dangerous pest.  相似文献

Impacts of Quaternary environmental changes on mammal faunas of central Asia remain poorly understood due to a lack of comprehensive phylogeographic sampling for most species. To help address this knowledge gap, we conducted the most extensive molecular analysis to date of the long-tailed ground squirrel(Urocitellus undulatus Pallas 1778) in Mongolia, a country that comprises the southern core of this species' range. Drawing on material from recent collaborative field expeditions,we genotyped 128 individuals at two mitochondrial genes(cytochrome b and cytochrome oxidase I;1 797 bp total). Phylogenetic inference supports the existence of two deeply divergent infraspecific lineages(corresponding to subspecies U. u. undulatus and U. u. eversmanni), a result in agreement with previous molecular investigations but discordant with patterns of range-wide craniometric and external phenotypic variation. In the widespread western eversmanni lineage, we recovered geographical y-associated clades from the:(a) Khangai,(b) Mongolian Altai, and(c) Govi Altai mountain ranges. Phylogeographic structure in U. u. eversmanni is consistent with an isolation-by-distance model; however, genetic distances are significantly lower than among subspecies, and intra-clade relationships are largely unresolved. The latter patterns, as wel as the relatively higher nucleotide polymorphism of populations from the Great Lakes Depression of northwestern Mongolia, suggest a history of range shifts into these lowland areas in response to Pleistocene glaciation and environmental change, followed by upslope movements and mitochondrial lineage sorting with Holocene aridification. Our study illuminates possible historical mechanisms responsible for U. undulatus genetic structure and contributes to a framework for ongoing exploration of mammalian response to past and present climate change in central Asia.

The endosymbiotic α-proteobacteria Wolbachia is widely spread among arthropods and Filariidae nematodes. This bacterium is transmitted vertically via a transovarian route. Wolbachia is a cause of several reproductive abnormalities in the host species. We analyzed the isofemale lines created using flies collected from Drosophila melanogaster natural populations for infection with the endosymbiont Wolbachia. Wolbachia were genotyped according to five variable markers: the presence of insertion sequence IS5 in two loci, the copy number of two minisatellite repeats, and an inversion. Overall, 665 isofemale lines isolated from the populations of D. melanogaster from Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Caucasus, Central Asia, Ural, Udmurtia, Altai, West and East Siberia, and Far East in 1974 through 2005 were used in the work. The samples from Ukrainian, Altaian, and Middle Asian populations were largest. The infection rate of D. melanogaster populations from Middle Asia, Altaian, and Eastern Europe (Ukraine, Moldavia, and Belarus) with Wolbachia amounted to 64, 56, and 39%, respectively. The D. melanogaster population from the Caucasus displayed heterogeneity in the genotypes of this cytoplasmic infection. The Wolbachia genotype wMel, detected in all the populations studied, was the most abundant. The genotype wMelCS2 was always present in the populations from Middle Asia and Altai and was among the rare variants in the D. melanogaster populations from the Eastern Europe. Single instances of the Wolbachia genotype wMelCS occurred in a few flies from the Central Asian and Altai populations, but was not found this genotype in the other regions.  相似文献

Aim This study aims to elucidate the phylogeography of the arctic‐alpine annual Comastoma tenellum (Rottb.) Toyok. (Gentianaceae) and to unravel the history of its immigration into the Alps. Location Although samples from Alaska and Central Asia were also included, our study focusses on Europe, especially on the Alps. Methods We applied amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) fingerprinting on 37 populations (162 individuals) of C. tenellum and analysed the results phenetically. Results As C. tenellum is mainly inbreeding, there is typically little to no intrapopulational genetic variation. Two populations from Alaska and Altai are strongly separated from all other accessions. The majority of the populations from the Alps group together with high bootstrap support. They fall into an unsupported Alps I group (northwards of Gran Paradiso) and a well‐supported Alps II group (south‐western Alps). The remaining European populations form a weakly‐supported branch constituting accessions from the Carpathians, Scandinavia and two populations from the Eastern Alps. Main conclusions Comastoma tenellum reached the Alps at least twice. The first immigration event resulted in a lineage that is clearly separated from the other European accessions. The immigration must have occurred well before the last glaciation because this lineage shows further phylogeographical structuring into two groups (Alps II in the south‐western Alps and Alps I in the rest of the Alps). This pattern is presumably due to isolation in different glacial refugia. In addition to the old immigration event, the species reached the Alps in recent times either from Scandinavia or from the Carpathians via long‐distance dispersal. These immigrations resulted in (at least) two populations that are spatially small and poor in individuals.  相似文献

A complicated population system of B chromosomes has been revealed in the karyotypes of the East-Asian mouse Apodemus peninsulae over the whole range. Based on our previous data for mice from Altai, Siberia, Pribaikal’e, and Mongolia and on the results of the present work, we infer that most of animals studied (196 out of 312, or 63%) have an individual variant of the B chromosome system. Only three mice lacked B chromosomes. New data for 44 A. peninsulae mice caught in 2000–2005 in 16 localities of seven regions of Altai, Siberia, and Pribaikal’e showed that all of them had individual variants of the system of B chromosomes due to different combinations (from 2 to 18 B chromosomes) of five classes of B macro- and microchromosomes.  相似文献

The Altaian Kazakhs, a Turkic speaking group, now reside in the southern part of the Altai Republic in south-central Russia. According to historical accounts, they are one of several ethnic and geographical subdivisions of the Kazakh nomadic group that migrated from China and Western Mongolia into the Altai region during the 19th Century. However, their population history of the Altaian Kazakhs and the genetic relationships with other Kazakh groups and neighboring Turkic-speaking populations is not well understood. To begin elucidating their genetic history, we analyzed the mtDNAs from 237 Altaian Kazakhs through a combination of SNP analysis and HVS1 sequencing. This analysis revealed that their mtDNA gene pool was comprised of roughly equal proportions of East (A-G, M7, M13, Y and Z) and West (H, HV, pre-HV, R, IK, JT, X, U) Eurasian haplogroups, with the haplotypic diversity within haplogroups C, D, H, and U being particularly high. This pattern of diversity likely reflects the complex interactions of the Kazakhs with other Turkic groups, Mongolians, and indigenous Altaians. Overall, these data have important implications for Kazakh population history, the genetic prehistory of the Altai-Sayan region, and the phylogeography of major mitochondrial lineages in Eurasia.  相似文献

Hipparchia autonoe belongs to the family Nymphalidae (Lepidoptera) and is designated as an endangered insect and national monument in Korea. It only inhabits a very restricted area on Mt. Halla but is widely distributed in several Asian countries including Mongolia. A previous study conducted to understand the genetic relationship between Mt. Halla and Mongolian H. autonoe for conservation purposes suffered from a limited number of samples. Therefore, we sequenced the DNA barcode region of an additional 36 H. autonoe individuals, combined them with previous data from 19 individuals, and performed phylogenetic and population genetic analyses. Furthermore, the internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) region was also sequenced from the 36 samples as a nuclear DNA marker. The existence of independent haplotypes, sequence types, and significant FST estimates (P < 0.05) between Mt. Halla and Mongolian populations indicated hampered gene flow between the populations. Nevertheless, an absence of a reciprocal monophyletic group in Mt. Halla and Mongolian populations by cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene‐ and ITS2‐based phylogeny suggests that the genetic isolation of the Mt. Halla population from the Mongolian populations seemed not large enough to consider them independent genetic entities.  相似文献

The halophyte model plant Eutrema salsugineum (Brassicaceae) disjunctly occurs in temperate to subarctic Asia and North America. This vast, yet extremely discontinuous distribution constitutes an ideal system to examine long‐distance dispersal and the ensuing accumulation of deleterious mutations as expected in expanding populations of selfing plants. In this study, we resequenced individuals from 23 populations across the range of Esalsugineum. Our population genomic data indicate that Esalsugineum migrated “out of the Altai region” at least three times to colonize northern China, northeast Russia and western China. It then expanded its distribution into North America independently from northeast Russia and northern China, respectively. The species colonized northern China around 33.7 thousand years ago (kya) and underwent a considerable expansion in range size approximately 7–8 kya. The western China lineage is likely a hybrid derivative of the northern China and Altai lineages, originating approximately 25–30 kya. Deleterious alleles accumulated in a stepwise manner from (a) Altai to northern China and North America and (b) Altai to northeast Russia and North America. In summary, Esalsugineum dispersed from Asia to North America and deleterious mutations accumulated in a stepwise manner during the expansion of the species’ distribution.  相似文献

The results of a study of morphological character variability in the populations of R. altaicus s. l., R. sulphureus subsp. exaltatus and R. schmakovii are presented. Univariate and multivariate analysis methods have been applied: a principal components method, discriminant and variance analysis. As a result, two Altai buttercup subspecies have been distinguished in the territory of the Altai mountains (R. altaicus subsp. altaicus, R. altaicus subsp. frigidus), as well as the new taxa R. sulphureus subsp. exaltatus and R. schmakovii  相似文献
