The free sterol, total phospholipids and protein content of the various tissues and haemolymph lipoproteins obtained from the larvae of Musca domestica, reared on the diets containing 0.56 μmole cholesterol/g wet weight of diet (normal) and 0.05 μmole cholesterol/g wet weight of diet (deficient) have been determined. The cholesterol in the diet was found to be taken up by the larvae and distributed between all the tissues examined. About 60% of the free sterol in the larvae was recovered from the composite gut fraction and muscle. Cholesterol deficiency reduced both the growth of larvae and the free sterol content of the various tissues and haemolymph when compared to that of normal larvae. Cholesterol deficiency resulted in a slightly higher proportion of sterol and protein of the larval haemolymph being associated with the lipoproteins having slower electrophoretic mobility. Most of the different tissues from the cholesterol deficient larvae contained a much smaller proportion of their normal free sterol content than of their phospholipid or protein; the brain tissue however contained a higher percentage of free sterol and the haemolymph a much lower percentage than would be expected from the lowering of phospholipid and protein content as a result of the deficiency. When the sterol content was expressed relative to the protein, the ratio was higher in the brain tissue of both the normal and deficient larvae than the ratio present in the remaining tissues, apart from the composite gut fraction of the normal larvae. The results suggest that a disproportionate amount of available cholesterol was being concentrated into the nervous system of the cholesterol deficient insect.A rather higher proportion of the total sterol fraction recovered from the various tissues and haemolymph lipoproteins of cholesterol deficient larvae behaved as ‘polar metabolites’ of cholesterol when compared with that of normal larvae.  相似文献

The fatty acid composition of the phospholipids and triglycerides extracted from housefly larvae reared on diets containing no added fatty acids but containing differing concentrations of choline has been determined. Reducing the choline content of the diet resulted in a graded reduction of the percentage of phosphatidylcholine present in the phospholipids of the larvae. This was accompanied by changes in the fatty acid composition, choline deficiency causing an increased utilization of 16-C rather than 18-C acids by the phospholipids. Changes in the fatty acid composition of the triglyceride fraction were also observed but these were associated with insects containing very low levels of phosphatidylcholine. Examination of the fatty acids in the different classes of phospholipids showed that the major change resulting from choline deficiency was in the fatty acids of the phosphatidylethanolamine fraction—the phospholipid which increased as the phosphatidylcholine decreased.Although the fatty acid composition of the different classes of phospholipids was not completely fixed, some preferential utilization of certain fatty acids by certain classes was observed, in both larval and adult insects. The fatty acid composition of the phospholipids extracted from larval gut, muscle, fat body, cuticle, trachea, nervous tissue, and haemolymph was determined. Changes resulting from choline deficiency similar to those seen in the whole larva were observed in all tissues except the nervous tissue. The effect of rearing larvae at temperatures between 24 and 35°C resulted in only minor changes in the fatty acid composition of both phospholipid and triglyceride fractions but the difference due to choline deficiency was observed at all temperatures. The possibility that the observed changes in the fatty acids of the phospholipids are compensatory to the changes in the proportion of the choline to the ethanolamine phospholipids is discussed.  相似文献

The levels' of sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, chloride, trehalose, and osmotic pressure in haemolymph were studied during ontogeny in the silkmoth Hyalophora cecropia, reared on either foliage or an artificial diet. Potassium and calcium in haemolymph changed little with ontogeny or diet, and averaged 35 and 10 m-equiv/l., respectively. The haemolymph levels of sodium and chloride were greater in larvae fed on artificial diet than in those on foliage, reflecting the levels in the respective diets; after cessation of feeding, the levels in haemolymph of the two groups approached common values (sodium 1–2 m-equiv/l.; chloride 20 m-equiv/l.). Magnesium was higher in haemolymph of foliage-fed larvae (100 m-equiv/l.) than in diet-fed larvae (65 m-equiv/l.), and in both groups declined after spinning to an average level of 40 m-equiv/l.Haemolymph from fifth instar Manduca sexta larvae reared on an artificial diet had ion levels very close to those in Cecropia similarly reared. Haemolymph of Danaus plexippus at three stages of development was also similar, but showed some quantitative differences from the other species.  相似文献

Three lipoproteins were separated from the haemolymph of adult males of Triatoma infestans fed on hen blood. The densities were similar to the high density lipoprotein (HDL) and to two very high density lipoproteins (VHDL) isolated from a pool of adult male and female insects fasted during twelve days. The relative distribution and composition of the three lipoproteins were studied. The fatty acids were mainly carried by the 1.3 and 1.2 diacylglycerols of high density lipoprotein. Triacylglycerols were minor components. Similarly to fasted insects, the main fatty acids were oleic and palmitic. Linoleic was also present. Very high density lipoproteins (VHDL-II) (d 1.25-1.26) were found in the haemolymph of male insects. The relative distribution of HDL and VHDL on fed and fasted insects was different.  相似文献

The range of inducible antibacterial and other associated haemolymph proteins in Manduca sexta larvae and pupae was examined by high resolution two-dimensional (2D) isoelectric focusing-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Twenty-two major inducible proteins were consistently resolved on gels of haemolymph from bacteria-injected larvae. Haemolymph from bacteria-injected pupae showed a different pattern of induced proteins. The proteins of the two stages include those which (i) are induced in both stages, (ii) those which are exclusively induced in either larvae or pupae, (iii) those which are inducible in larvae, but consititutively present in pupae, and, (iv) those which are induced in larvae, and which are present at intermediate levels but may be induced to higher levels in pupae.The antibacterial activity of the haemolymph from larvae and pupae was compared on acidpolyacrylamide gels, and the apparent Mr and pI of the inducible proteins determined. Certain of the inducible proteins appear to resemble the cecropin and attacin proteins of Hylophora cecropia.  相似文献

The accumulation into the nervous system of a disproportionate amount of the phosphatidylcholine present in housefly larvae when reared on diets containing very low concentrations of choline is found to occur even when two analogues of choline, N-dimethylethylcholine (DMECh) or β-methylcholine (βMCh), are included in the diet at more than one hundred times the choline concentration. Both analogues are incorporated into phospholipids of the whole larvae and nervous system. The ratio of choline to analogue found in the lipids of the whole insect is 1 : 48 (DMECh) and 1 : 24 (βMCh) and in the nervous system 1 : 22 (DMECh) and 1 : 4 (βMCh). This preferential accumulation into the lipids also occurs during the development of the adult nervous system. The total phospholipid content of the head and thoracic ganglia of the adult is two to three times that of the fused larval ganglion. This results in 40 per cent of the phosphatidylcholine present in the adult fly, obtained from larvae fed on diets containing βMCh, being concentrated in the nervous system.  相似文献

The effect of two different levels of dietary cholesterol (0.16 mg/Kcal and 0.79 mg/cal) on the composition of thoracic lymph duct lipoproteins was studied in two species of nonhuman primates, Ceropithecus aethiops (African green monkey) and Macaca fascicularis (cynomolgus monkey). Diet was infused intraduodenally at a constant rate to facilitate comparisons among animals. The higher level of dietary cholesterol resulted in an increase in the amount of cholesteryl ester in lymph chylomicrons and VLDL. Cholesteryl oleate was the predominant cholesteryl ester present in lymph d less than 1.006 g/ml lipoproteins and it was the predominant cholesteryl ester formed from exogenous radiolabeled cholesterol. The percentage of saturated and monounsaturated cholesteryl esters in lymph chylomicrons and VLDL significantly increased with the higher dietary cholesterol level. The apoprotein distribution of chylomicrons and VLDL was qualitatively similar during infusions of both diets. The apoprotein B of intestinal chylomicrons and VLDL, termed apoprotein B2, was qualitatively similar during low and high cholesterol diet infusion and was significantly smaller than that of plasma LDL apoB, termed apoprotein B1, as indicated by its electrophoretic mobility in SDS-polyacrylamide gels. The major phospholipid present in lymph chylomicrons and VLDL was phosphatidylcholine and the phospholipid composition of the particles was not affected by diet. Lymph d greater than 1.006 g/ml lipoproteins were separated and the cholesterol mass distribution among lipoprotein fractions was found to be similar during both diet infusions. With an increase in the level of dietary cholesterol, the percentage esterification of cholesterol mass and of exogenous cholesterol radioactivity increased in LDL and HDL from lymph. Lymph LDL and HDL contained less free and esterified cholesterol when their composition was compared to that for these lipoproteins in plasma. We conclude that the primary effect of increased dietary cholesterol level was to increase the cholesteryl ester content of all lymph lipoproteins; cholesterol distribution among lymph lipoproteins was unaffected.  相似文献

An acrylamide gel electrophoretical analysis of the haemolymph proteins of R. americana was carried out at different stages of development. In mature larvae there are about 14 haemolymph protein fractions from which one stains heavily and two others faintly for lipoprotein, while three fractions stain for glycoprotein. The haemolymph protein fraction with Rm 0·25 decreases remarkably in mass during spinning, while the others decrease to a lesser extent. The protein fractions could be used in cocoon spinning since previous work suggests that haemolymph proteins are a major pool of cocoon protein precursors. The finding of a protein fraction in the salivary glands with an electrophoretical mobility similar to that of the haemolymph fraction with Rm 0·25 reinforces our hypothesis.  相似文献

1. A cell fraction rich in Golgi apparatus was isolated from the livers of guinea pigs fed on a lipid-rich diet (1.6% cholesterol, 15% corn oil). 2. The Golgi cisternae and secretory vesicles contained electron-dense particles which were tentatively identified as VLD (very-low-density) and LD (low-density) lipoproteins. Particles of moderate electron density, 150–500nm in diameter, were seen associated with membranous elements of the Golgi-apparatus cell fraction. Disruption of this cell fraction permitted the release of these three species of particles, which were separated into particulate lipid, and VLD and LD lipoproteins. 3. The large particles of moderate electron density, isolated as particulate lipid, were distinct from both species of Golgi particles in their chemical composition and in possessing an immunochemically unreactive apolipoprotein(s). Morphological observations suggest that the particulate lipid arose from cytoplasmic lipid droplets which were present as contaminants of the Golgi-rich fraction. 4. The chemical and immunochemical results are consistent with the suggestion that the Golgi LD particles are precursors of the VLD particles, into which they may be transformed by the addition of both triglyceride and cholesteryl ester. The present results provide further support for the proposal that the Golgi VLD particles are precursors of the serum VLD lipoproteins in the guinea pig. 5. Hepatic Golgi VLD particles isolated from guinea pigs fed on the lipid-rich diet contained significantly higher molar amounts (relative to protein) of both cholesteryl ester and triglyceride than similar particles from animals fed on a normal diet. These results suggest that the type of Golgi VLD particle produced from the LD particle is a direct consequence of the amount and composition of the dietary lipid. 6. Hepatic Golgi LD particles isolated from guinea pigs fed on different diets were similar in chemical composition and contained approx. 50% by weight of phospholipid. We conclude that the Golgi LD particle is normally present in the Golgi-apparatus cell fraction from guinea-pig liver, and may represent the end product of lipoprotein biosynthesis in the smooth endoplasmic reticulum. 7. The serum LD lipoproteins and Golgi LD particles were quite distinct in chemical composition. However, these two lipoprotein species were immunochemically identical and exhibited a similar range of flotation rate. It appears unlikely that the Golgi LD particles are secreted as the precursors of the serum LD lipoproteins.  相似文献

The distribution of choline metabolites has been studied in the nervous system of housefly larvae reared on diets containing various amounts of choline or on diets containing either β-methylcholine (β-MCh) or N-dimethylethylcholine (DMECh). Adult houseflies were obtained from larvae reared on diets containing at least 4·6 times the level of choline in the basic diet or on diets containing the two choline analogues. The distribution of choline metabolites has been studied in the heads and thoraces plus abdomina of these adults.

Acetylcholine was found to be concentrated in the larval nervous system where it was synthesized preferentially to other choline metabolites when the amount of choline available to the insect was severely restricted. The acetylcholine content of the adult was between six and nine times that of the larval nervous system and approximately 70 per cent was concentrated in the head. The amount of acetylcholine present in flies obtained from larvae fed on diets containing the lowest amount of choline which allowed adults to develop was 230 pmole/insect. Flies obtained from larvae fed on diets with added β-MCh contained 150 pmole of acetylcholine/insect but no detectable acetyl-βMCh. Flies obtained from larvae fed on diets with added DMECh contained 43 pmole of acetylcholine and 127 pmole of acetyl-DMECh/insect.

It is concluded that the two choline analogues spare the choline requirement of the housefly by two different mechanisms. β-MCh displaces choline from the lipids of non-nervous tissue making more available for uptake into the nervous system where sufficient acetylcholine is synthesized for adult development. DMECh is a complete replacement for choline; the acetyl-DMECh acting as a neurotransmitter in place of acetylcholine.  相似文献

Dietary cholesterol induces a hemolytic anemia in guinea pigs, accompanied by changes in the lipid composition of red cells and of plasma lipoproteins. This report presents a characterization of the lipoprotein species present in each main density class in both control and cholesterol-fed guinea pigs. Traces of a typical high density lipoprotein (HDL) were detected in control plasma. HDL from cholesterol-fed, anemic guinea pigs differed from control HDL in electron microscopic appearance and lipid and peptide composition. Long stacks of discs were observed in the electron microscope in addition to smaller, spherical particles characteristic of control HDL. Low density lipoproteins (LDL) from cholesterol-fed, anemic guinea pigs had two main populations, which were separated by gel chromatography. One population appeared in the electron microscope as large transparent discs and contained mainly unesterified cholesterol and phospholipids in a 2:1 molar ratio. The other population resembled control LDL in size and composition except for its high unesterified cholesterol content. Dietary cholesterol also altered the composition and decreased the electrophoretic mobility of very low density lipoproteins. Gel electrophoretic and immunochemical evidence indicates that a peptide (mol wt 35,000) appears in lipoproteins from cholesterol-fed, anemic guinea pigs that is undetectable in those of controls. Similarities between the cholesterol-induced lipoprotein abnormalities in guinea pigs and those reported in patients with obstructive jaundice, biliary cirrhosis, type III hyperlipoproteinemia, or familial lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase deficiency are discussed.  相似文献

The larval fat body of the southwestern corn borer, Diatraea grandiosella, was cultured in vitro to examine the relationship between proteins present in the fat body, those released into the medium, and those present in the haemolymph. While the incorporation of [3H]leucine into fat body proteins was high in last instar pre-diapausing and non-diapausing larvae, it fell in early diapausing larvae to about 11% of that found in prediapausing larvae. Incorporation of [3H]leucine into the diapause-associated protein of the fat body increased gradually in pre-diapausing larvae and reached a maximum in newly-diapaused larvae at a time when the incorporation of [3H]leucine into other proteins of the fat body had declined. The proteins released from the cultured fat body showed identical electrophoretic properties and close immunochemical relationships to most of those present in the haemolymph. Small amounts of the diapause-associated protein were released in vitro from the fat body of larvae of different ages in diapause. Lipophorin was also released in vitro from the fat body of non-diapausing and diapausing larvae, and shown to be immunochemically identical to the lipophorin present in the haemolymph.  相似文献

When 32P1 was supplied as a 15-minute pulse to normal Spirodela oligorrhiza plants, the first phospholipid to become fully labeled was phosphatidic acid. Phosphatidyl glycerol reached maximum labeling before the other major phospholipids. In phosphorus-deficient plants, however, phosphatidyl glycerol became labeled much more slowly than either phosphatidyl choline or phosphatidyl ethanolamine, and also the proportion of phosphatidyl glycerol present was smaller. Thus, phosphatidyl glycerol synthesis is sensitive to phosphorus deficiency. Since most of the phosphatidyl glycerol present in Spirodela was localized in the chloroplast, this effect appeared to be specifically one on chloroplast composition. The phosphorus-deficient chloroplast had a 60% lower phospholipid content and a normal phospholipid pattern, but the phospholipid which was present was apparently cycling much less rapidly. Zeatin, which ameliorates the visual symptoms of phosphorus deficiency, also reduces the effect of phosphorus deficiency on phospholipid synthesis.  相似文献

The presence of juvenile hormone in the haemolymph of larvae of Locusta has been detected by a modified Galleria bioassay and these results are compared with indirect methods of estimating corpus allatum activity. Juvenile hormone is present in the haemolymph during the fourth larval instar except on the last day of the instar, and is absent from the haemolymph of the fifth and final larval instar except on the last day of the instar. Changes in the volumes of the corpora allata simply reflect changes in the growth of the whole insect and are of no value in predicting endocrine activity. Changes in the size of the cells of the corpora allata can be correlated with the presence of juvenile hormone in the haemolymph in the fourth larval instar, but similar changes in cell size occur in the fifth larval instar when no juvenile hormone is present in the haemolymph. The effects of the implantation of corpora allata are unreliable as estimates of corpus allatum activity as isolated corpora allata from fifth instar larvae release juvenile hormone. Indirect methods of measuring corpus allatum activity are thus shown to be unreliable. The Rf value of Locusta juvenile hormone as determined by thin-layer chromatography differs from that of Roeller's juvenile hormone, suggesting that the two hormones might be chemically distinct.  相似文献

The housefly larvae were grown in the aseptic diet containing 0.56 μmole cholesterol/g wet weight of diet (control) and 0.05 μmole cholesterol/g wet weight of diet (deficient). The effects of cholesterol deficiency upon the phospholipid composition and fatty acids of the total phospholipid and triglyceride fractions from the lipid extract of the various larval tissues, whole larva, and in both sexes of adults 4 days after eclosion were examined. The total sterol and phospholipid contents (expressed relative to the wet weight of the insect) of the control and deficient insects at the larval and adult stages were analysed and molar ratios compared. The results suggest that cholesterol deficiency reduced the free sterol content of the larvae and adult insects to approximately 25% of the content of the control insects. However, cholesterol deficiency did not effect the phospholipid content during larval and adult stages when compared to that of control insects. Though the larvae reared on the cholesterol deficient diets did not show a profound alteration in the phospholipid composition, a marked increase in the ratio of phosphatidylcholine to phosphatidylethanolamine of the larval fat body and composite gut fraction were noticed. The cholesterol deficiency induced significant changes in the fatty acid composition of the phospholipid fraction of the insect. The ratio of unsaturated fatty acids to saturated fatty acids of the phospholipid fractions decreased significantly due to cholesterol deficiency in the whole larvae and in both sexes of adult flies. The data indicates that cholesterol deficient insects compensated for the lack of cholesterol by increasing saturated fatty acids preferentially in the phospholipid fraction of the lipids for the maintenance of proper membrane fluidity.  相似文献

The present study was performed to investigate the effect of zinc deficiency on the activities of lipoprotein lipase in postheparin serum and tissues of rats fed diets containing either coconut oil or fish oil as dietary fat, using a bifactorial experimental design. To ensure an adequate food intake, all the rats were force-fed by gastric tube. Experimental diets contained either 0.8 mg zinc/kg (zinc-deficient diets) or 40 mg zinc/kg (zinc-adequate diets). The effects of zinc deficiency on the activities of lipoprotein lipase in postheparin serum and postprandial triglyceride concentrations and distribution of apolipoproteins in serum lipoproteins depended on the type of dietary fat. Zinc-deficient rats fed the coconut oil diet exhibited a reduced activity of lipoprotein lipase in postheparin serum and adipose tissue, markedly increased concentrations of triglycerides in serum, and a markedly reduced content of apolipoprotein C in triglyceride-rich lipoproteins and high density lipoproteins compared with zinc-adequate rats fed coconut oil. By contrast, zinc-deficient rats fed the fish oil diet did not exhibit reduced activities of lipoprotein lipase in postheparin serum and adipose tissue and increased concentrations of serum lipids compared with zinc-adequate rats fed the fish oil diet. This study suggests that a reduced activity of lipoprotein lipase might contribute to increased postprandial concentrations of serum triglycerides observed in zinc-deficient animals. However, it also demonstrates that the effects of zinc deficiency on lipoprotein metabolism are influenced by dietary fatty acids.  相似文献

Lipid composition of plasma lipoproteins and erythrocyte ghost membranes has been studied in 16 healthy normolipidaemic subjects and in 16 patients affected by primary lipoprotein lipase deficiency, resulting in severe chylomicronaemia and in cholesterol-depleted low-density lipoproteins and high-density lipoproteins. A significant decrease in membrane cholesterol/phospholipid ratio was observed in lipoprotein lipase deficient patients compared to controls (3.27 +/- 0.33 vs. 3.95 +/- 0.50, mean +/- S.D.; P less than 0.0001). There was also an increase in the erythrocyte membrane phosphatidylcholine/sphingomyelin ratio in lipoprotein lipase deficient patients compared to controls (1.53 +/- 0.10 vs. 1.05 +/- 0.13; P less than 0.0001) due to a concurrent increase in phosphatidylcholine and decrease in sphingomyelin relative concentrations in these patients. Erythrocyte ghost membrane fluidity was determined by fluorescence anisotropy and found to be higher in membranes from lipoprotein lipase deficient patients. This increase in membrane fluidity can be attributed in part to changes in membrane cholesterol and phospholipid concentrations in response to abnormal plasma lipoprotein composition.  相似文献

Heavy metal contamination of the forest pest insect Lymantria dispar (L.) (Lepidoptera; Lymantriidae), the gypsy moth, can alter its haemolymph composition, as has already been shown for carbohydrates and lipids in recent studies. L. dispar larvae are frequently parasitized by Glyptapanteles liparidis (Bouché) (Hymenoptera; Braconidae) larvae, which can—to some extent—regulate the population size of the pest insect. The parasitoids feed on the haemolymph of L. dispar larvae; hence, a different haemolymph composition of the host alters the trophic situation of the parasitoids. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether metal contamination also affects the concentrations of free amino acids in L. dispar haemolymph, and protein concentrations in their haemolymph and tissue. L. dispar larvae were parasitized on the first day of the second instar and then reared on diets contaminated with Cd, Pb, Cu or Zn at two concentrations each. Haemolymph and total body tissue of the larvae (fourth instar/third day) were analyzed. The concentrations of the free amino acids were elevated in five out of the eight contamination groups (Cd6, Pb4, Cu6, Cu10, Zn60), whereas haemolymph protein concentrations were significantly reduced in all contaminated individuals. The haemolymph protein concentration was 18 mg/ml in the control group and decreased to less than 10 mg/ml due to cadmium and zinc contamination at both concentrations and in the low copper contamination group. In contrast, total body proteins (136 g/mg dry weight in the control group) were elevated due to heavy metal stress. Analyses of haemolymph protein concentrations during the fourth instar demonstrated an increase of the proteins from day one to day four (followed by a decrease on the fifth day) in the control group and the cadmium contamination group. A steady increase of proteins from the first to the fifth day in the copper and zinc contaminated larvae indicated a retarded development in these groups. Thus, the present study along with other recent studies demonstrated, that heavy metal stress changes the concentrations of all main haemolymph compounds of L. dispar larvae.  相似文献

In this two-phase crossover study, 39 hypercholesterolemic subjects followed a prudent diet with either lean red meat or fish and skinless chicken (treatment groups), and 13 subjects (reference group) followed their habitual diet. Fasting blood samples were analyzed for plasma total cholesterol, triacylglycerol (TAG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein one- and two-cholesterol, apolipoprotein-B, very low density lipoprotein cholesterol, and very low density lipoprotein TAG, and fatty acid composition of plasma TAG and cholesteryl ester (CE). Body mass and blood pressure were determined. Seven-day dietary records were kept once at baseline and twice during the treatment periods. Significant differences were observed in dietary intake between the baseline and treatment diets and between the two treatment diets. HDL-C (P < 0.05) and diastolic blood pressure (P < 0.01) were higher in patients on the red meat diet than in those on the chicken-fish diet. No other significant differences in lipoproteins were observed between the effects of the two treatment diets. The linoleic acid (%), eicosapentaenoic acid (%), and the eicosapentaenoic acid/arachidonic acid ratios in TAG and CE were higher (P < 0.01) in subjects on the chicken-fish diet than in those on the red meat diet. In conclusion, this study showed that the effect of two lipid-lowering diets containing either lean red meat or skinless chicken and fish on the atherogenic lipoproteins did not differ significantly. A prudent diet with skinless chicken and fish, however, had a more favorable effect on the fatty acid composition of the plasma TAG and the CE than did the lean red meat diet.  相似文献

The lipoproteins of the Ehrlich ascites tumor plasma were separated into 3 distinct fractions, very low density, low density and high density lipoproteins by preparative ultracentrifugation combined with agarose column chromatography. 2. High density lipoproteins contained 74% of the total protein in the lipoproteins. By contrast, most of the lipids were present in the very low density lipoprotein fraction. 3. The fatty acid compositions of the cholesteryl esters were appreciably different in the very low, low and high density lipoproteins, whereas phospholipid and triacylglycerol fatty acid compositions were quite similar in the 3 lipoprotein fractions. 4. Very low and high density apoprotein electrophoretic patterns on sodium dodecyl sulfate-acrylamide gels were similar to those observed in the corresponding lipoprotein fractions obtained from other mammalian species. The low density fraction, however, contained 7 apoprotein bands, and 32% of the low density apoprotein was soluble in tetramethyl urea. 5. The average molecular weights as determined by analytical ultracentrifugation were 2-10(7) (very low density), 6-10(6) (low density) and 4.4-10(5) (high density).  相似文献
