50 corrosion casts of the splenic artery and its tree were studied to observe the arterial segmentation in the goat spleen on the basis of the intrasplenic distribution. The following observations were made: (i) 74% showed the presence of two arterial segments, a right and a left one; (ii) 10% revealed three arterial segments, a hilar, a right and a left one, and (iii) 16% showed the absence of arterial segmentation in the goat spleen.  相似文献

The origin of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the rat oviduct was investigated by measuring GABA levels in the oviduct after selective ablation of the extrinsic oviductal innervation. Rats killed 20 days after ablation of nerves connected with the left oviduct showed no differences in GABA levels in the left vs the right oviduct. Rats killed 50 days after ablation of the left ovarian vascular nerve bundle showed a decreased GABA content in the left vs the right (intact) oviduct which was more pronounced in rats killed 90 days after ablation. In contrast, GABA levels were unchanged 50 days after ligation of either the suspensory ligament of the ovary or the uterine artery. Our results indicate the involvement of a GABAergic component in the extrinsic innervation of the rat oviduct.  相似文献

Several parameters of the nonlinear dynamics of blood flow oscillations were studied in the left and right rat kidneys in baseline conditions and a perturbed state. An intramuscular injection of aspirin in 0.9% saline (0.5 mg per 100 g body weight) was used as a perturbation factor. Capillary blood flow was measured at baseline and 50 min after the aspirin injection by laser Doppler flowmetry. The persistence of time series was estimated by the Hurst method. Baseline time series were persistent in the right kidney and nonpersistent in the left kidney. Aspirin-perturbed time series were persistent in both the right and left kidneys, but the Hurst index was significantly higher in the left kidney. The results showed that the microcirculatory bed of the right rat kidney is more stable to perturbation as compared with that of the left kidney.  相似文献

We recorded visual evoked responses in eight patients with Parkinson's disease, using a depth electrode either at or below the stereotactic target in the ventral part of the globus pallidus internus (GPi), which is located immediately dorsal to the optic tract. Simultaneously, scalp visual evoked potentials (VEPs) were also recorded from a mid-occipital electrode with a mid-frontal reference electrode. A black-and-white checkerboard pattern was phase reversed at 1 Hz; check size was 50 min of arc. Pallidal VEPs to full field stimulation showed an initial positive deflection, with a latency of about 50 ms (P50), followed by a negativity with a mean latency of 80 ms (N80). The mean onset latency of P50 was about 30 ms. P50 and N80 were limited to the ventralmost of the GPi and the ansa lenticularis. Left half field stimulation evoked responses in the right ansa lenticularis region while right half field stimulation did not, and vice versa. These potentials thus seemed to originate posterior to the optic chiasm. The scalp VEPs showed typical triphasic wave forms consisting of N75, P100 and N145. The location of the recording electrode in the ansa lenticularis region did not modify the scalp VEP. These results suggest that P50 and N80 are near-field potentials reflecting the compound action potentials from the optic tract. Therefore, N75 of the scalp VEPs may represent an initial response of the striate cortex but not of the lateral geniculate nucleus.  相似文献

The diagnostic capacities of 99mTc-pyrophosphate plane myocardial scintigraphy versus 99mTc-pyrophosphate single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) were compared. Recording right precordial ECG leads showed that 26 patients had right ventricular myocardial infarction (MI)-typical changes as ST-segment evaluation, followed by abnormal Q wave. Plane scintigraphy indicated a characteristic inclusion of 99mTc-pyrophosphate into the right ventricular myocardium in 18.8% of the patients with acute lower MI and in one of 38 patients with acute MI of the anterior left ventricular wall. SPECT revealed a characteristic inclusion of 99mTc-pyrophosphate into the right ventricular myocardium much more frequently than did plane myocardial scintigraphy--in 34% of cases. Right ventricular myocardial inclusion of 99mTc-pyrophosphate was found in 50% of the patients with acute lower MI, including all 9 patients with positive 99mTc-pyrophosphate myocardial scintigraphy. Thus, the sensitivity of SPECT in the diagnosis of right ventricular MI is somewhat higher than that of precordial ECG and more than thrice higher than that of plane scintigraphy.  相似文献

Somatosensory vertex potentials (SVPs) were examined in 12 healthy subjects in response to painful electrical stimulation of the finger. SVPs consisted of N1, P1, and N2. The average latencies of the 3 peaks were 150, 225, and 350 msec, respectively. The latency and amplitude of each potential were reproducible for each subject. Recovery functions of the SVPs were analyzed in 10 subjects. A pair of stimuli were delivered to the right or left finger with interstimulus intervals (ISIs) of 50, 100, 150, 200, 350, 500 and 650 msec. SVPs partially recovered with the shortest ISI (50 msec). Full recovery could not be obtained even with the longest ISI (650 msec). Differences in recoveries within 650 msec of ISI were not observed between right and left stimulations. To examine the interaction between SVPs evoked by right and left finger stimulation, recovery functions from prior contralateral finger stimulation were analyzed with the same ISIs. SVP recoveries for right after left or left after right patterns of stimulus delivery were nearly the same as those for ipsilateral ones. It is suggested that SVPs are generated at nearly the same site in the sensory pathway regardless of the side stimulated.  相似文献

本研究观察了20例正常小儿和49例脑瘫小儿的下肢胫后神经刺激性短潜伏时头皮体感诱发电位(PTN-SSEP)。正常小儿在刺激后出现6个反应波(P18、N23、P31、N42、P54和N68),大脑左右两体感头皮的SSEP波形相似;时相基本相等,t检验表明两侧间无差异;电压除波P31外其余波也无显著差异。脑瘫小儿PTN-SSEP异常率达91.84%,有4种类型:正常型占8.16%、混合异常型57.14%、反应低下型6.12%及电压不对称型28.57%。经统计患儿左右头皮的SSEP、潜伏时和电压均有显著差异(P<0.05),其中P31和N42电压差值>50%。与正常小儿比较,患儿双侧反应降低,多数波潜伏时延长。患侧电压损失率>50%(P<0.001),波P18、N23和P31的潜伏时差异显著。结果提示.(1)正常小儿体感通路反应稳定,左右侧活动基本对称;(2)脑瘫小儿体感通路左右侧活动不对称,患侧传导机能下降,体感皮层反应减退。  相似文献

Thyroid sonography in an otherwise asymptomatic 50-year-old woman revealed a mainly cystic lesion within the right thyroid lobe. Thyroid (99)Tc scan showed an enhanced uptake over the right thyroid lobe with suppressed activity over the remaining thyroid tissue. Following aspiration of 6 ml of cyst fluid, a solid lesion became apparent in the location of the original cyst corresponding to the scintigraphically detected autonomous adenoma. This case report emphasizes that ultrasonography and scintigraphy are complementary methods and should be used as such in the primary evaluation of thyroid nodules.  相似文献

Over 3000 rice plants with T-DNA carrying a Ds element were constructed by Agrobacterium tumefaciens mediation. Using inverse PCR methodology, 590 unique right flanking sequences of T-DNA (Ds) were retrieved from independent transformants and classified into six main types on the basis of the origin of filler DNA between the right border of T-DNA and flanking sequence of rice genome. Type I sequences were the most common and showed canonical integration that T-DNA right border was followed by rice genome sequence with or without filler DNA of no more than 50 bp, while type II sequences displayed a vector-genome combination that T-DNA right border was followed by a vector fragment and then connected with rice genome sequence. The location and distribution of 340 type I and II flanking sequences on the rice chromosome were determined using BLAST analysis. The 340 Ds insertions at an average interval of 0.8 megabase (Mb) constructed a basic framework of Ds starter points on whole rice chromosomes. The frequency of T-DNA (Ds) inserted into the exons of predicted genes on chromosome one was 21%. Knowledge of T-DNA (Ds) locations on chromosomes will prove to be a useful resource for isolating rice genes by Ds transposon tagging as these Ds insertions can be used as starting lines for further mutagenesis.  相似文献

Immunohistochemical localization of two neuropeptides possibly involved in the regulation of cardiac activity in a pulmonate mollusc, Achatina fulica Férussac, was studied. On the ventral surface of the right cerebral ganglion, more than 50 neurons with diameters of 30–50 m showed immunoreactivity to the antiserum of the neuropeptide FMRFamide. Many were also immunoreactive to an antiserum raised against Achatina cardio-excitatory peptide-1 (ACEP-1). Although FMRFamidelike immunoreactive neurons occurred in all components of the subesophageal ganglia, identifiable ACEP-1-like immunoreactive neurons were located only in the visceral ganglion and the right parietal ganglion. In the heart, FMRFamide- and ACEP-1-like immunoreactive fibers were restricted to the atrium and the aortic end of the ventricle, consistent with morphological observations of cardiac innervation. The present results suggest that FMRFamide-and ACEP-1-like peptides are involved in regulating the heart beat of this snail.  相似文献

Weanling male guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus), 2-3 weeks of age, with initial body weights of 207-271 g were exposed for 2-16 weeks to constant cold (6 degrees C) and hypoxia (PO2 = 85 Torr) equivalent to 4800 m above sea level. Their growth rates and body weights did not differ from those of control animals of the same age maintained under normoxic conditions (22 degrees C, PO2 = 133 Torr). After 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, or 16 weeks exposure the animals were sacrificed, the hearts were removed, the ventricles were separated and weighed, and myoglobin concentrations were determined. Total heart weight as well as both right and left ventricular weights increased linearly with age. By the second week of exposure of the guinea pigs to cold plus hypoxia the total heart and right ventricular weights were 25 and 50% greater than those of the normoxic control animals. Both weights increased at greater rates than those of the controls until Week 6 and then remained at 30 and 80% throughout the 16th week. The weights of the left ventricles in these animals were only slightly greater than those of the controls. In spite of the severe right ventricular hypertrophy these animals showed no clinical signs of right heart failure. Myoglobin concentrations were significantly greater in both ventricles for the cold-plus-hypoxic animals than for the controls.  相似文献

The Ca(2+) binding protein S100A1 increases the Ca(2+) release from the sarcoplasmatic reticulum by interacting with the ryanodine receptor. In order to understand whether this effect might be operative in the early course of hypertrophy, when myocardium is able to meet increased workload, we investigated the expression of S100A1 in a model of moderate right ventricular hypertrophy. The pulmonary arteries of nine pigs were embolised three times with Sephadex G-50. After 70 days, all pigs showed a moderate pulmonary hypertension. Right ventricular tissue of embolised animals showed a significant increase of connective tissue and enlargement of myocyte diameters. In controls, we found a differential expression of S100A1 with significantly lower S100A1 protein levels in right ventricular compared to left ventricular tissue. In pulmonary hypertension, S100A1 expression increased significantly in hypertrophied right ventricles while it was unchanged in left ventricular tissue. No change was observed in the expression of SERCA2a and phospholamban. Our data show, for the first time, that moderate pressure overload results in an upregulation of S100A1. This may reflect an adaptive response of myocardial Ca(2+) homeostasis to a higher workload.  相似文献

The study was aimed to evaluate the right ventricular function in pneumoconiosis patients by real-time three-dimensional echocardiography. A total of 80 individuals including 44 consecutive pneumoconiosis patients and 36 age- and gender-matched healthy volunteers as controls were prospectively recruited for the study. All the patients underwent two- and three-dimensional echocardiography. Measurements of the right ventricle included tricuspid regurgitation pressure (TRPG), anterior and posterior wall thickness and range of motion (TH1, TH2, M1, M2), right end-diastolic volume and end-systolic volume. The right ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF) was also calculated. The RVEF of healthy volunteers ranged from 50 to 78 %, whereas that of the pneumoconiosis patients varied from 29 to 73 %. An increase in TRPG caused a significant (p = 0.006) decrease in RVEF (by 77.3 %), suggesting the two variables were negatively correlated (r = ?0.643, p < 0.01). In comparison with normal, the volume–time curves of the pneumoconiosis patients showed a lower trough. Use of real-time three-dimensional echocardiography provides with added clinical information needed to evaluate right ventricular function in pneumoconiosis patients.  相似文献

The 5.7 kb4 transposable kanamycin resistance determinant Tn5 contains 1.5 kb terminal inverted repeats which we here call arms. Tn5's arms contain the genes and sites necessary for Tn5 transposition, and are not homologous to previously described transposable elements. To determine whether one or both arms is a transposable (IS) element, we transposed Tn5 to pBR322 and used restriction endonuclease digestion and ligation in vitro to generate plasmid derivatives designated pTn5-DR1 and pTn5-DR2 in which Tn5's arms were present in direct rather than in inverted orientation. Analysis of transposition products from dimeric forms of the pTn5-DR1 plasmid to phage λ showed that the outside and inside termini of right and of left arms could function in transposition. We conclude that both of Tn5's arms are transposable elements and name them IS50L (left) and IS50R (right). IS50R, which encodes transposase, was used several-fold more frequently than IS50L, which contain an ochre mutant allele of transposase: this implies that Tn5's transposase acts preferentially on the DNA segment which encodes it. Analysis of transpositions of the amprkanr element Tn5-DR2 to the lac operon showed that Tn5-DR2, like Tn5 wild-type, exhibits regional preference without strict site specificity in the choice of insertion sites.  相似文献

The effects of gramicidin S (GS), an antibiotic, on the rat heart membrane ATPases and contractile activity of the right ventricle strips were investigated. GS inhibited sarcolemmal Ca2+-stimulated ATPase (IC50 = 3 microM), Ca2+/Mg2+ ATPase which is activated by millimolar Ca2+ or Mg2+ (IC50 = 3.4 microM), and sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-stimulated ATPase (IC50 = 6 microM). The type of inhibition for the sarcolemmal Ca2+/Mg2+ ATPase by GS was apparently uncompetitive, while that for Ca2+-stimulated ATPases in sarcolemma or sarcoplasmic reticulum was of mixed type. Other ATPases, including mitochondrial ATPase, sarcolemmal Na+-K+ ATPase, and myofibrillar ATPase, were not inhibited by this agent. GS also decreased the rat right ventricle maximum force development (half-maximal inhibitory concentration was 2-4 microM), maximum velocity of contraction, and maximum velocity of relaxation. The resting tension was increased by GS to over 200%. The contractile actions of GS were mostly irreversible upon washing the muscle 3 times over a 10-min period. Decreased Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+ concentrations in the perfusate increased the effects of GS. These findings showed that GS was a potent inhibitor of divalent cation ATPases of heart sarcolemma and sarcoplasmic reticulum and it is suggested that these membrane effects may explain the cardiodepressant action of this agent.  相似文献

Background

It is currently believed that face processing predominantly activates the right hemisphere in humans, but available literature is very inconsistent.

Methodology/Principal Findings

In this study, ERPs were recorded in 50 right-handed women and men in response to 390 faces (of different age and sex), and 130 technological objects. Results showed no sex difference in the amplitude of N170 to objects; a much larger face-specific response over the right hemisphere in men, and a bilateral response in women; a lack of face-age coding effect over the left hemisphere in men, with no differences in N170 to faces as a function of age; a significant bilateral face-age coding effect in women.

Conclusions/Significance

LORETA reconstruction showed a significant left and right asymmetry in the activation of the fusiform gyrus (BA19), in women and men, respectively. The present data reveal a lesser degree of lateralization of brain functions related to face coding in women than men. In this light, they may provide an explanation of the inconsistencies in the available literature concerning the asymmetric activity of left and right occipito-temporal cortices devoted to face perception during processing of face identity, structure, familiarity or affective content.  相似文献

Chick embryos incubated for 72-80 hours were exposed to various volumes (0.20-0.40 m1/egg) of 50% ethyl alcohol. Examination of embryos at day 14 of incubation showed that higher doses of ethanol decreased the survival rate of embryos compared with control embryos. Three major categories of cardiovascular malformations were observed in this study: intracardiac anomalies characterized primarily by isolated ventricular septal defect, ventricular septal defect with overriding aorta, double outlet right ventricle or common aorticopulmonary trunk; aortic arch anomalies; and subclavian artery anomalies. Frequencies of embryos with intracardiac anomalies were equal to or greater than 64.8% in the six groups exposed to ethanol. Administration of ethanol also induced high frequencies of embryos with subclavian artery anomalies (11.2-89.1%). Absence or hypoplasia of the right and/or left secondary subclavian artery was commonly associated with persistence of the corresponding primary subclavian artery. Bilateral absence and/or hypoplasia of the secondary subclavian arteries was more common than unilateral anomalies, whereas absence of the left secondary subclavian artery was more commonly observed than an absent right secondary subclavian artery. No embryos in the two control groups combined (n = 94) demonstrated aortic arch or subclavian artery anomalies.  相似文献

Background

Previous fMRI studies show that women with eating disorders (ED) have differential neural activation to viewing food images. However, despite clinical differences in their responses to food, differential neural activation to thinking about eating food, between women with anorexia nervosa (AN) and bulimia nervosa (BN) is not known.

Methods

We compare 50 women (8 with BN, 18 with AN and 24 age-matched healthy controls [HC]) while they view food images during functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI).

Results

In response to food (vs non-food) images, women with BN showed greater neural activation in the visual cortex, right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, right insular cortex and precentral gyrus, women with AN showed greater activation in the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, cerebellum and right precuneus. HC women activated the cerebellum, right insular cortex, right medial temporal lobe and left caudate. Direct comparisons revealed that compared to HC, the BN group showed relative deactivation in the bilateral superior temporal gyrus/insula, and visual cortex, and compared to AN had relative deactivation in the parietal lobe and dorsal posterior cingulate cortex, but greater activation in the caudate, superior temporal gyrus, right insula and supplementary motor area.

Conclusions

Women with AN and BN activate top-down cognitive control in response to food images, yet women with BN have increased activation in reward and somatosensory regions, which might impinge on cognitive control over food consumption and binge eating.  相似文献

A 77-year-old man was admitted to the hospital with a thyroid nodule. The levels of serum tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens (CA 50, CA 19-9) and thyroglobulin (HTG) were markedly increased. We performed total thyroidectomy and right neck lymph node dissection. After treatment, the serum CA 50, CA 19-9 and HTG levels were markedly decreased. Histological examination of the thyroid tumor showed papillary adenocarcinoma and the dissected neck lymph nodes contained metastatic adenocarcinoma. The expression of CA 50 and CA 19-9 (defined by the monoclonal antibodies) was studied by immunoperoxidase staining from the normal and carcinomatous thyroid tissues and the dissected neck lymph node. CA 50 was expressed more strongly by the carcinoma cells than CA 19-9. The positive rates for serum CA 50 and CA 19-9 levels in other patients with papillary adenocarcinoma were not significantly higher compared with patients with benign nodules and normal subjects. But a significant positive correlation was found between the diameter of the carcinoma and the serum levels of CA 50 and CA 19-9. These results suggest that the serum levels of CA 50 and CA 19-9 might not become useful markers for diagnosing carcinoma of the thyroid, but might be useful markers for monitoring the growth or recurrence of papillary adenocarcinoma of the thyroid in patients with high serum levels of CA 50 and CA 19-9.  相似文献
