Abstract

A new species, Racomitrium patagonicum Bednarek-Ochyra &; Ochyra, is described from southern South America. A herbarium name, R. senile Schimp. in A. Jaeger, is considered synonymous with R. patagonicum and confusion associated with its interpretation is explained. The new species belongs to the type subgenus of Racomitrium and is closely alied to R. lanuginosum (Hedw.) Brid. from which it differs by the very long and broadly decurrent, ruffled or wavy margins of the hyaline hair-point, broadly canaliculate leaves and dull green, strongly papillose laminal cells. Grimmia glacialis Müll. Hal., hom. illeg. (=Racomitrium glaciale Kindb.) from South Georgia is typified and this name is considered synonymous with Racomitrium lanuginosum subsp. lanuginosum. Distribution of the new species is mapped. A key to species of Racomitrium subg. Racomitrium is provided.  相似文献

Four species of the moss genusRacomitrium Brid. are reported from Brazil:R. subsecundum (Harv.) Wils,R. didymum (Mont.) Lorentz,R. crispipilum (Taylor) A. Jaeger, andR. visnadiae W. R. Buck.Racomitrium subsecundum is reported for the first time from South America in Brazil and Colombia. The species is fully described and illustrated.Racomitrium didymum is recorded for the first time from Brazil; the specimens previously assigned toR. crispulum (Hook.f. & Wils.) Hook.f. & Wils. represent this species.Racomitrium cucullatifolium Hampe andR. crispulum (Hook. f. & Wils.) Hook.f. & Wils. are excluded from the Brazilian bryophyte flora. All Brazilian species ofRacomitrium are briefly assessed taxonomically and bryogeographically and illustrated, and a key to their determination is given. A lectotype is selected forGrimmia didyma Mont.  相似文献

Abstract

Type material is studied for six names of southern hemisphere Racomitria, viz. R. dustro-georgicum Par., R. amoenum (Broth.) Par., R. substenocladum Card., R. skottsbergii Card. et Broth., R. substenocladum fo. *nigrescens Card. et Broth., and R. austro-georgicum var. kranckii Riov. They are all placed as synonyms of R. sudeticum (Funck) Bruch et Schimp., which accordingly is bipolar. Racomitrium austro-sudeticum Broth. in Herz. belongs to the genus Grimmia.  相似文献

Abstract

The New Zealand Grimmia Hedw. specimens from AK, AKU, BM, CHR, OTA and WELT have been revised and a bryological field trip to the New Zealand Southern Alps was made to study specimens in their natural habitats. As a result of the revision and the field trip, G. anodon, G. austrofunalis, G. orbicularis and G. tortuosa were added to the moss flora. A key is presented, the species are briefly discussed and Grimmia wilsonii H.C. Greven sp. nov. is described and illustrated.  相似文献

Taxonomic status of five species of Grimmia Hedw. (G. minuta Müll.Hal., G. suborthotrichacea Müll.Hal., G. defoliata Müll.Hal., G. genuflexa Müll.Hal., and G. orthotrichacea Müll.Hal.) is appraised. All these species correctly belong within the genus Bucklandiella Roiv. They are actually inseparable from one another and represent a single species for which B. orthotrichacea (Müll.Hal.) Bednarek-Ochyra & Ochyra is chosen as the final name. The remaining four names are considered its synonyms, all but G. genuflexa being new. All the names are lectotypified and some details of the leaves of G. minuta and G. defoliata are illustrated.  相似文献

Abstract

Chlorophyll fluorescence provides a non-invasive and non-destructive method to follow various aspects of the photosynthetic function of bryophytes under relatively natural conditions, which is easy to use and can be applied to small amounts of material. Some of its potentialities (and potential pitfalls) for bryophyte desiccation physiology are outlined. Data are presented on the responses of eleven desiccation-tolerant bryophytes to drying at –41, –114, –218 and –412 MPa for periods up to ~240 days. Recovery was assessed from FV/FM after 20 min and 24 h re-wetting, and from the mean FM value after 24 h. For the more desiccation-tolerant species, Grimmia pulvinata, Syntrichia ruralis, Andreaea rothii, Racomitrium lanuginosum, R. aquaticum, Leucodon sciuroides, Pleurochaete squarrosa and Ulota crispa, long-term survival (>30–120 d) was generally best at ~–100 to –200 MPa (20–45% r.h.). The moderately desiccation-tolerant Anomodon viticulosus, Porella platyphylla and P. obtusata survived best at the highest humidity used, –41 MPa (74% r.h.).  相似文献

Eight major serpentine sites in the French Massif Central have been bryofloristically surveyed and their specific assemblages studied by performing systematic relevés. Seventy bryophyte taxa are reported from these serpentine areas. Archidium alternifolium, Bryum gemmilucens, Cephaloziella stellulifera, Grimmia dissimulata, Racomitrium fasciculare, R. lanuginosum and Riccia subbifurca are dominant and characteristic species. Soil and rock communities harbour typical combinations of specialized and ubiquitous taxa. The occurrence of saxicolous species (Grimmia) on the ground may be a typical feature of serpentine communities. The scarcity of liverworts is underlined, as is the complexity of the controlling factors. Lack of competition and periodic submergence are probably ecological factors of prime importance. Successional pathways are certainly insufficiently known, especially as far as bryophytes are concerned. The causes of negligible succession on skeletal soils would benefit from renewed studies. Grazing of serpentine grasslands, generally considered the most relevant management tool, should be evaluated further.  相似文献

Abstract

Grimmia serrana, a new endemic species for California, is described and illustrated. The new species is readily distinguished by the presence of multi-stratose marginal bands that are rounded in cross-section. The leaf morphology displayed by Grimmia serrana is unique within the genus. The distribution of Grimmia serrana is along the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada and in the northern Coast Range.  相似文献

The genus Genarchella Travassos, Artigas & Pereira, 1928 is reinstated for some species from South American fishes previously attributed to Halipegus Looss, 1899. Aspects of the morphology of G. genarchella Travassos, Artigas & Pereira, 1928 and G. parva Travassos, Artigas & Pereira, 1928 are redescribed. Astyanax bimaculatus, Moenkhausia doceana, Oligosarcus robustus and Salminus maxillosus are recorded as new hosts of G. parva, and H. cryptorchis Mané-Garzon & Gascón, 1973 and H. szidati Yamaguti, 1971 [= G. tropica of Szidat (1954)] are listed amongst new synonyms of this species. Aspects of the morphology of Thometrema magnifica (Szidat, 1954) and T. overstreeti (Brooks, Mayes & Thorson, 1979) are redescribed. T. rioplatense Lunaschi, 1989 is considered a synonym of T. overstreeti. New host-records of T. overstreeti are Pimelodus maculatus and Rhamdia sp. G. genarchella of Hamann (1986) is considered as synonym of T. overstreeti. Paravitellotrema Watson, 1976, Caballeroiella Lamothe-Argumedo, 1977 and Quadripaludus Jimenez, Guajardo & Briseno, 1981 are considered synonyms of Genarchella. The features distinguishing Halipegus, Genarchella and Thometrema Amato, 1968 are discussed.  相似文献

The Family Thelastomidae (Thelastomatoidea; Oxyurida; Nematoda) is revised, genera are diagnosed and a complete list of species is given. The following genera, normally classified in the family, are not included: Linstowiella Basir is considered a member of the Pharyngodonidae and perhaps a synonym of Pharyngodon Diesing; Klossinema Lal is considered a synonym of Cephalobellus Cobb; Schubartnema Kloss is considered a taxonomic chimaera, the male corresponding to Carnoya Gilson and the female probably to Binema Basir. Two new species are proposed: Gryllophila bainae and G. klossae for material assigned to G. skrjabini (Sergiev) by Bain (1965) and Kloss (1959) respectively. The following new synonyms are proposed: Blattellicola Basir and Blatellicoloides Farooqui synonyms of Blatticola Schwenck; Basiriella Ahmed & Jabin synonym of Blattophila Cobb; Leidynema (Basiria) Farooqui synonym of Cranifera Kloss; Posterovulva Van Waerebeke synonym of Desmicola Basir; Oryctophila Van Waerebeke synonym of Johnstonia Basir; Panaesthiana Kloss synonym of Leidynemella Chitwood & Chitwood; Psilocephala Rao synonym of Cameronia Basir; Welchiella Gupta & Kaur synonym of Hammerschmidtiella Chitwood. Abstract

Grimmia anomala is reported from seven sites in Scotland and Ireland. Confusion in the past with Grimmia hartmanii has meant that this species has been overlooked. Its occurrence in Scandinavia and the Faroes means that its sites in Scotland are not unexpected but the Irish localities for this boreal-montane species are noteworthy.  相似文献
