The new, closely related species Crotalaria mudugensis and C. camptosepala , with vicarious distributions in central Somalia, are described and illustrated. The two species are regarded as members of C. sect. Crotalaria along with the related C. verdcourtii and C. deflersu that have previously been placed in sect. Hedriocarpae.  相似文献

Chromosome numbers are reported for 364 collections representing 70 species and varieties in 16 genera. Of these, 35 species and varieties have not had counts published previously. Counts of 26 collections in 14 species differ from all previously published counts for the same species. One new combination,Stevia anadenotricha, and one new variety,Stevia subpubescens var.intermedia, are published.  相似文献

Summary Meiotic chromosome behavior was studied in seven diploid species of Lotus (L. alpinus Schleich., L. japonicus (Regel) Larsen, L. filicaulis Dur., L. schoelleri Schweinf., L. krylovii Schischk. and Serg., L. tenuis Waldst. et Kit., L. corniculatus var. minor Baker) and in 51 interspecific hybrids from 16 different crosses. Meiosis in the diploid species was quite regular. In a high proportion of the PMC's of the hybrids there was close chromosome homology with a normal association of 6 II's. However, meiotic irregularities including bridges, lagging chromosomes, univalents, and quadrivalents, occurred in a small percentage of the cells. The late separation of bivalents, the presence of quadrivalents, and inversion bridges with fragments, would indicate for some hybrids that certain chromosomes were structurally differentiated. The large number of rod bivalents observed at diakinesis was also highly suggestive that genetic nonhomology in one chromosome arm could contribute to the frequency of this type of bivalent. Therefore, the maximum number of 6 II's which occurred in a high percentage of cells may be misleading in that cryptic structural differences between chromosome arms, or segments, are not revealed. Pollen fertility in the species and hybrids was not correlated with meiotic irregularities suggesting that pollen fertility is genotypically controlled.  相似文献

Chromosome numbers and geographical distribution of Ulex europaeus subsp. europaeus (Leguminosae). Chromosome numbers are reported in Ulex europaeus subsp. europaeus (99 samples from northern Spain, France and Great Britain). Three levels of ploidy (diploid, tetraploid and hexaploid) have been detected; the diploid and tetraploid levels, hitherto unknown in this taxon, have been found exclusively in coastal areas of northern Spain and western France.  相似文献

Chromosome numbers are reported for eight of the nine Western AustralianVillarsia species.Villarsia albiflora, V. calthifolia, V. capitata, V. congestiflora, V. lasiosperma, V. latifolia, andV. violifolia are diploid with n=9. Five populations ofV. parnassiifolia are diploid and three are tetraploid (n=18). The morphological, ecological, and breeding-system diversity of the Western Australian species is largely not associated with the tetraploidy or hexaploidy that characterizes otherVillarsia species in eastern Australia and South Africa. The majority of Western AustralianVillarsia species are restricted to the high rainfall zone of southwestern Western Australia, where favorable climatic and edaphic conditions may have existed since mid-late Tertiary times.  相似文献

Mitotic chromosomes of 12 species of Catasetum were assessed to contribute with the karyotypic study of the subtribe Catasetinae (Orchidaceae), expanding the knowledge of this group in terms of chromosomes and supporting its taxonomic and evolutionary analysis. The species are maintained in cultivation in the greenhouse of the Department of Plant Biology/IB/UNICAMP and in the “Orquidário Frederico Carlos Hoehne” of the Botanical Garden of São Paulo. Chromosome counts ranged from 2n = 54 to 2n = 108. Karyotypes were prepared for all species studied, in which there was a predominance of metacentric chromosomes and some submetacentric ones. The chromosome size ranged from 0.5 to 4.9 μm, the total chromosome length ranged from 34.7 to 78.7 μm and the asymmetry index TF% ranged from 21.2 to 42.3. The results obtained so far favor the taxonomy of the genus, allowing to distinguish species with very similar external morphology.  相似文献

Chromosome numbers from 188 samples of the Ulex gr. gallii-minor from Portugal, Spain, France and Great Britain are reported. The gametic and somatic chromosome numbers are n = 16 and In = 32, respectively, in all samples of U. minor. Three levels of ploidy (diploid, tetraploid and hexaploid) have been detected in samples of U. galli, sensu lata from N Spain. In samples from Brittany and Great Britain, only the tetraploid level has been found. New data are compared with all previous reports for the species of this group of gorses.  相似文献

Chromosome data are important for elucidating intergeneric relationships and delimiting infrafamilial tribes in plants. This paper reports karyological data for 12 Seriphidium (Bess.) Poljak. species from China, of these, five count as new reports and the others have been reported elsewhere. We also report the tetraploid level in S. schrenkianum for the first time. The karyotype formulae and types for the five new reports are: S. schrenkianum (Ledeb.) Poljak. 2n = 4x = 36 = 22m + 12sm + 2st, S. sublessingianum (Kell.) Poljak. 2n = 2x = 18 = 14m + 4sm and S. transiliense (Poljak.) Poljak. 2n = 2x = 18 = 4M + 6m + 2m(SAT) + 4sm + 2sm(SAT), belong to 2A type; S. cinum (Berg. ex Poljak.) Poljak. 2n = 2x = 18 = 8m + 10sm and S. sawanense Y. R. Ling et C. J. Humphries 2n = 2x = 18 = 10m + 2m(SAT) + 6sm, belong to 2B type. Furthermore, we estimated karyotype asymmetry in the 12 species by using an intrachromosomal asymmetry index and an interchromosomal asymmetry index. Estimations on nuclear DNA content, nuclear area and nuclear dry mass were made on 13 species of Crotalaria, with the help of Vicker's M 85 microdensitometer and Vicker's interferometer. Highly significant differences for all three characters were found between species. DNA density (DNA/area) increased with increase in DNA content. The cultivated species, C. juncea had a lower DNA density relative to its DNA content.—Nuclear DNA made only a small fraction of nuclear dry mass (115). Although total dry mass and non-nucleolar nuclear dry mass showed significant regression on DNA content, the nucleolar dry mass gave a much wider scatter, indicating that nucleolar mass is not equally dependent on nuclear DNA content.  相似文献

Chromosome numbers are reported forEleocharis obtusa var.ellipsoidalis (2n = 10),E. obtusa var.peasei (2n =10),E. engelmannii (2n =10),E. olivacea f.olivacea (2n = 20),E. olivacea f.reductiseta (2n = 20),E. flavescens (2n = 30),E. tenuis var.verrucosa (2n = 20),E. tenuis var.tenuis (2n = 24),E. tenuis var.pseudoptera (2n = 39), a possible hybrid betweenE. tenuis var.pseudoptera and var.tenuis (2n = ca. 34 & 68),E. intermedia (2n = 22),E. tuberculosa (2n = 30),E. smallii (2n = 36), andE. ambigens (2n = 46). Noticeable chromosome size differences inE. tenuis, E. smallii, andE. ambigens are consistent with size differences previously reported by other authors. Variable meiotic pairing configurations were observed inE. flavescens, E. intermedia, andE. tenuis. Chromosome data help verify taxonomic relationships of some taxa and indicate the need for further investigation of others.  相似文献
