A novel blue luminescent 6‐chloro‐2‐(4‐cynophenyl) substituted diphenyl quinoline (Cl‐CN DPQ) organic phosphor has been synthesized by the acid‐catalyzed Friedlander reaction and then characterized to confirm structural, optical and thermal properties. Structural properties of Cl‐CN‐DPQ were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction technique (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive analysis of X‐ray (EDAX) spectroscopy. FTIR spectra confirmed the presence of different functional groups and bond stretching. 1H–NMR and 13C–NMR confirmed the formation of an organic Cl‐CN‐DPQ compound. X‐ray diffraction study provided its crystalline nature. The surface morphology of Cl‐CN‐DPQ was analyzed by SEM, while EDAX spectroscopy revealed the elemental analysis. Differential thermal analysis (TGA/DTA) disclosed its thermal stability up to 250°C. The optical properties of Cl‐CN‐DPQ were investigated by UV–vis absorption and photoluminescence (PL) measurements. Cl‐CN‐DPQ exhibits intense blue emission at 434 nm in a solid‐state crystalline powder with CIE co‐ordinates (0.157, 0.027), when excited at 373 nm. Cl‐CN‐DPQ shows remarkable Stokes shift in the range 14800–5100 cm?1, which is the characteristic feature of intense light emission. A narrow full width at half‐maximum (FWHM) value of PL spectra in the range 42–48 nm was observed. Oscillator strength, energy band gap, quantum yield, and fluorescence energy yield were also examined using UV–vis absorption and photoluminescence spectra. These results prove its applications towards developing organic luminescence devices and displays, organic phosphor‐based solar cells and displays, organic lasers, chemical sensors and many more.  相似文献

A new series of blue light‐emitting 2,4‐diphenylquinoline (DPQ) substituted blue light‐emitting organic phosphors namely, 2‐(4‐methoxy‐phenyl)‐4‐phenyl‐quinoline (OMe–DPQ), 2‐(4‐methyl‐phenyl)‐4‐phenylquinoline (M‐DPQ), and 2‐(4‐bromo‐phenyl)‐4‐phenylquinoline (Br‐DPQ) were synthesized by substituting methoxy, methyl and bromine at the 2‐para position of DPQ, respectively by Friedländer condensation of 2‐aminobenzophenone and corresponding acetophenone. The synthesized phosphors were characterized by different techniques, e.g., Fourier transform infra‐red (FTIR), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), UV‐visible absorption and photoluminescence spectra. FTIR spectra confirms the presence of chemical groups such as C=O, NH, or OH in all the three synthesized chromophores. DSC studies show that these complexes have good thermal stability. Although they are low‐molecular‐weight organic compounds, they have the potential to improve the stability and operating lifetime of a device made out of these complexes. The synthesized polymeric compounds demonstrate a bright emission in the blue region in the wavelength range of 405–450 nm in solid state. Thus the attachment of methyl, methoxy and bromine substituents to the diphenyl quinoline ring in these phosphors results in colour tuning of the phosphorescence. An electroluminescence (EL) cell of Br‐DPQ phosphor was made and its EL behaviour was studied. A brightness–voltage characteristics curve of Br‐DPQ cell revealed that EL begins at 400 V and then the brightness increases exponentially with applied AC voltage, while current–voltage (I–V) characteristics revealed that the turn on voltage of the fabricated EL cell was 11 V. Hence this phosphor can be used as a promising blue light material for electroluminescent devices. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A series of Eu2+‐activated barium orthosilicates (BaZnSiO4) were synthesized using a high‐temperature solid‐state reaction. A photoluminescence excitation study of Eu2+ shows a broad absorption band in the range of 270–450 nm, with multiple absorption peak maxima (310, 350 and 400 nm) due to 4f–5d electronic transition. The emission spectra of all the compositions show green color emission (in the spectral region 450–550 nm with a peak maximum at 502 nm and a shoulder at ~ 490 nm) with appropriate Comission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) color coordinates. The two emission peaks are due to the presence of Eu2+ in two different Ba sites in the BaZnSiO4 host lattice. The energy transfers between the Eu2+ ions in BaZnSiO4 host are elucidated from the critical concentration quenching data based on the electronic multipolar interaction. All Eu2+‐activated BaZnSiO4 phosphor materials can be efficiently excited in the ultraviolet (UV) to near UV‐region (270–420 nm), making them attractive candidate as a green phosphor for solid state lighting–white light‐emitting diodes.  相似文献

The tris(8‐hydroxyquinoline)–aluminium complex is the most important and widely studied as electron transporting and green light emitting material. Alq3 and TbxAl(1‐x)q3 have been synthesized (where x = 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9) and blended films of Alq3 and TbxAl(1‐x)q3 with PMMA and PS at different percentage weight (wt%) concentrations (e.g., 0.1, 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 wt%) have been prepared. The synthesized materials and their blended thin films have been characterized by a photoluminescence (PL) technique; the synthesis and PL characterization are reported in this paper. The synthesized metal complex shows bright emission of green light with blue light excitation (440 nm) and the prepared TbxAl(1‐x)q3 phosphor may be applicable in blue chip‐excited OLEDs for the newly developed wallpaper lighting technology. Near‐UV excited narrow line red‐emitting phosphors, Eu3+‐activated Y2MoO6 systems, were synthesized using a simple molten salt reaction. The structure and photoluminescence characteristics were investigated using X‐ray powder diffraction, UV–Vis absorption and fluorescent spectrophotometry. The excitation spectra show strong broad‐band absorptions in the near‐UV to blue light regions which match the radiation of near‐UV light‐emitting diode chips well. Under excitation of either near‐UV or blue light, intense red emission with a main peak of 611 nm is observed, ascribed to the 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+ ions; the optimal doping concentration is 20 mol%. The chromaticity coordinates (x = 0.65, y = 0.34) of the as‐obtained phosphor are very close to the National Television Standard Committee standard values (x = 0.67, y = 0.33). All these characteristics suggest that this material is a promising red‐emitting phosphor candidate for white‐LEDs based on near‐UV LED chips. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A diphenyl quinoline (DPQ)‐conjugated derivative and bromine‐activated DPQ (Br‐DPQ) were synthesized in an inert gas atmosphere at 140 °C using Friedlander condensation. The compounds showed blue emission under a UV source. The structures were characterized by X‐ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The photoluminescence properties of the compounds were analysed using excitation and emission spectra. The synthesized organic phosphors shows bright emission in the blue region, with peaks at 445 and 453 nm, respectively, for DPQ and Br‐DPQ in the powder form. The physical and photoluminescence properties of these organic compounds reveal promising blue emitters for high‐efficiency organic light‐emitting diodes. New blue‐emitting materials based on 1,2‐diphenylindolizine were designed and synthesized through a microwave‐assisted Suzuki coupling reaction. The photophysical, electrochemical, and thermal properties of the 1,2‐diphenylindolizine derivatives were investigated using UV–visible and fluorescence spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, thermogravimetric analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry. The 1,2‐diphenylindolizine derivatives had band gaps of 3.1–3.4 eV and indicated proper emission of around 450 nm without significant difference between in solution and thin solid film. The indolizine derivatives show an enhanced thermal stability (?Tm > 100 °C), compared with 1,2‐diphenylindolizine. These results suggest the 1,2‐diphenylindolizine derivatives are suitable for blue‐emitting materials in organic light‐emitting devices. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A series of Ce3+‐activated blue‐emitting phosphors BaY2Si3O10 (BYSO) was designed and synthesized by a conventional solid‐state method. Upon ultraviolet light (250–370 nm) excitation, the obtained phosphors showed an intense blue emission band centered at 400–427 nm depending on doping concentration, and corresponding to the 5d→4f transition of Ce3+. The effects of doping concentration on crystal structure, emitting color, photoluminescence and photoluminescence excitation spectra, as well as the concentration quenching mechanism were studied in detail. The optimal doping concentration of Ce3+ in this phosphor was demonstrated to be about 0.75% and the concentration quenching mechanism can be ascribed to electric dipole–dipole interactions with a critical distance of ~38 Å. These fine luminescence properties indicate that BYSO:Ce3+ may be a potential blue phosphor for full‐color ultra‐violet (UV) white light emitting diodes (WLEDs).  相似文献

Pure and Li+‐doped Alq3 complexes were synthesized by simple precipitation method at room temperature, maintaining the stoichiometric ratio. These complexes were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, ultraviolet‐visible absorption and Fourier transform infrared and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. X‐ray diffraction analysis reveals the crystalline nature of the synthesized complexes, while Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirm the molecular structure, the completion of quinoline ring formation and presence of quinoline structure in the metal complex. Ultraviolet‐visible and PL spectra revealed that Li+ activated Alq3 complexes exhibit the highest intensity in comparison to pure Alq3 phosphor. Thus, Li+ enhances PL emission intensity when doped into Alq3 phosphor. The excitation spectra lie in the range of 383–456 nm. All the synthesized complexes other than Liq give green emission, while Liq gives blue emission with enhanced intensity. Thus, he synthesized phosphors are the best suitable candidates for green‐ and blue‐emitting organic light emitting diode, PL liquid‐crystal display and solid‐state lighting applications. Pure and Na+‐doped Alq3 complexes were synthesized by a simple precipitation method at room temperature, maintaining a stoichiometric ratio. These complexes were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), UV/Vis absorption and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. The X‐ray diffractogram exhibits well‐resolved peaks, revealing the crystalline nature of the synthesized complexes, FTIR confirms the molecular structure and the completion of quinoline ring formation in the metal complex. UV/Vis absorption and PL spectra of sodium‐doped Alq3 complexes exhibit high emission intensity in comparison with Alq3 phosphor, proving that when doped in Alq3, Na+ enhances PL emission intensity. The excitation spectra of the synthesized complexes lie in the range 242–457 nm when weak shoulders are also considered. Because the sharp excitation peak falls in the blue region of visible radiation, the complexes can be employed for blue chip excitation. The emission wavelength of all the synthesized complexes lies in the bluish green/green region ranging between 485 and 531 nm. The intensity of the emission wavelength was found to be elevated when Na+ is doped into Alq3. Because both the excitation and emission wavelengths fall in the visible region of electromagnetic radiation, these phosphors can also be employed to improve the power conversion efficiency of photovoltaic cells by using the solar spectral conversion principle. Thus, the synthesized phosphors can be used as bluish green/green light‐emitting phosphors for organic light‐emitting diodes, flat panel displays, solid‐state lighting technology – a step towards the desire to reduce energy consumption and generate pollution free light. Cerium (Ce3+)‐doped (1, 3, and 7 mol%) yttrium vanadate phosphors were prepared using a co‐precipitation technique. The structural and optical properties of the synthesized samples were studied using X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR‐TEM), optical absorption, and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy techniques. The tetragonal structure and the formation of the nanosized crystallites in the YVO4:Ce phosphor were confirmed using XRD analysis. HR‐TEM morphology showed rod‐like nanoparticles of different sizes. Optical absorption spectra demonstrated strong absorption bands at 268 and 276 nm. PL spectra showed strong peaks at 546, 574, and 691 nm following excitation at 300 nm. The calculated CIE chromaticity coordinates demonstrated that YVO4:Ce could be used as a novel phosphor for the development of light‐emitting diode lamps.  相似文献

Eu3+‐doped 6LaPO4–3La3PO7–2La7P3O18 red luminescent phosphors were synthesized by co‐deposition and high‐temperature solid‐state methods and its polyphase state was confirmed by X‐ray diffraction analysis. Transmission electron microscopy showed the grain morphology as a mixture of rods and spheres. Luminescence properties of the phosphor were investigated and its red emission parameters were evaluated as a function of Eu3+ concentration (3.00–6.00 mol%). Excitation spectra of 6LaPO4–3La3PO7–2La7P3O18:Eu3+ showed strong absorption bands at 280, 395, and 466 nm, while the luminescence spectra exhibited prominent red emission peak centred at 615 nm (5D07F2) in the red region. CIE chromaticity coordinates of the 6LaPO4–3La3PO7–2La7P3O18:5%Eu3+ phosphor were (0.668, 0.313) in the red region, and defined its potential application as a red phosphor.  相似文献

CaS:Ce3+ is an efficient green‐emitting (535 nm) phosphor, excitable with blue light (450–470 nm) and was synthesized via a solid‐state reaction method by heating under a reducing atmosphere. The luminescent properties, photoluminescent (PL) excitation and emission of the phosphor were analyzed by spectrofluorophotometry. The excitation and emission peaks of the CaS:Ce3+ phosphor lay in the visible region, which made them relevant for light‐emitting diode (LED) application for the generation of white light. Judd‐Oflet parameters were calculated and revealed that green light emitted upon blue illumination. The prepared phosphor had strong blue absorption at 470 nm and a broad green emission band range from 490–590 nm with the peak at 537 nm. The characteristics of the CaS:Ce3+ phosphor make it suitable for use as a wavelength tunable green emitting phosphor for three band white LEDs pumped by a blue LED (470 nm). The Commission International de l'Eclairage co‐ordinates were calculated by a spectrophotometric method using the spectral energy distribution (0.304, 0.526) and confirm the green emission. The potential application of this phosphor is as a phosphor‐converted white light‐emitting diode. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In order to improve the luminescent performance of silicate blue phosphors, Sr(1.5‐x)‐(1.5y)Mg0.5SiO4:xEu2+,yCe3+ phosphors were synthesized using one‐step calcination of a precursor prepared by chemical co‐precipitation. The crystal structure and luminescent properties of the phosphors were analyzed using X‐ray diffraction and fluorescence spectrophotometry, respectively. Because the activated ions (Eu2+) can occupy two different types of sites (Sr1 and Sr2), the emission spectrum of Eu2+ excited at 350 nm contains two single bands (EM1 and EM2) in the wavelength range 400–550 nm, centered at 463 nm, and the emission intensity first increases and then decreases with increasing concentrations of Eu2+ ions. Co‐doping of Ce3+ ions can greatly enhance the emission intensity of Eu2+ by transferring its excitation energy to Eu2+. Because of concentration quenching, a higher substitution concentration of Ce3+ can lead to a decrease in the intensity. Meanwhile, the quantum efficiency of the phosphor is improved after doping with Ce3+, and a blue shift phenomenon is observed in the CIE chromaticity diagram. The results indicate that Sr(1.5‐x)‐(1.5y)Mg0.5SiO4:xEu2+,yCe3+ can be used as a potential new blue phosphor for white light‐emitting diodes.  相似文献

Yttrium is stoichiometrically doped into europium by mole percentage, during the synthesis of Y(1‐x)Eu(x)(TTA)3(Phen), using solution techniques (where x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6 and 0.8, TTA = thenoyltrifluoroacetone and Phen = 1,10‐phenanthroline).These complexes were characterized using different techniques such as X‐ray diffraction, thermogravimetric/differential thermal analysis, optical absorption and emission spectra. Thin films of the doped Eu–Y complexes were prepared on a glass substrate under a high vacuum of 10‐6 Torr. The photoluminescence spectra of these thin films were recorded by exciting the sample at a wavelength of 360 nm. The emission peak for all the synthesized complexes centered at 611 nm; maximum emission intensity was obtained from Y0.6Eu0.4 (TTA)3(Phen). The results proved that these doped complexes are more economical than pure Eu(TTA)3(Phen) and are best suited as red emissive material for energy‐efficient and eco‐friendly organic light‐emitting diodes and displays. In this study, Li6Y1–xEux(BO3)3 phosphor was successfully synthesized using a modified solid‐state diffusion method. The Eu3+ ion concentration was varied at 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5 and 1 mol%. The phosphor was characterized for phase purity, morphology, luminescent properties and molecular transmission at room temperature. The XRD pattern suggests a result closely matching the standard JCPDS file (#80‐0843). The emission and excitation spectra were followed to discover the luminescence traits. The excitation spectra indicate that the current phosphor can be efficiently excited at 395 nm and at 466 nm (blue light) to give emission at 595 and 614 nm due to the 5D07Fj transition of Eu3+ ions. Concentration quenching was observed at 0.5 mol% Eu3+ in the Li6Y1–xEux(BO3)3 host lattice. Strong red emission with CIE chromaticity coordinates of phosphor is x = 0.63 and y = 0.36 achieved with dominant red emission at 614 nm the 5D07 F2 electric dipole transition of Eu3+ ions. The novel Li6Y1–xEux(BO3)3 phosphor may be a suitable red‐emitting component for solid‐state lighting using double‐excited wavelengths, i.e. near‐UV at 395 nm and blue light at 466 nm. A series of Eu3+‐, Ce3+‐, Dy3+‐ and Tb3+‐doped (Y,Gd)BO3 phosphors was synthesized by a solid‐state diffusion method. X‐Ray diffraction confirmed their hexagonal structure and the scanning electron microscopy results showed crystalline particles. The excitation spectra revealed that (Y,Gd)BO3 phosphors doped with Eu3+, Ce3+ , Dy3+ and Tb3+ are effectively excited with near UV‐light of 395 nm/blue light, 364, 351 and 314 nm, respectively. Photoluminescence spectra of Eu3+‐, Ce3+‐ and Tb3+/Dy3+‐doped phosphor showed intense emission of reddish orange, blue and white light, respectively. The phosphor Y0.60Gd0.38BO3:Ce0.02 showed CIE 1931 color coordinates of (0.158, 0.031) and better color purity compared with commercially available blue BAM:Eu2+ phosphor. The phosphor (Y,Gd)BO3 doped with Eu3+, Dy3+ and Tb3+ showed CIE 1931 color coordinates of (0.667, 0.332), (0.251, 0.299) and (0.333, 0.391) respectively. Significant photoluminescence characteristics of the prepared phosphors indicate that they might serve as potential candidates for blue chip and near‐UV white light‐emitting diode applications. A blue‐emitting phosphor Ca12Al14O32F2:Eu2+ was synthesized using a high‐temperature solid‐state reaction under a reductive atmosphere. The X‐ray diffraction measurements indicate that a pure phase Ca12Al14O32F2:Eu2+ can be obtained for low doping concentration of Eu2+. The phosphor has a strong absorption in the range 270–420 nm with a maximum at ~340 nm and blue emission in the range 400–500 nm with chromatic coordination of (0.152, 0.045). The optimal doping concentration is ~0.24. In addition, the luminescence properties of the as‐synthesized phosphor were evaluated by comparison with those of Ca12Al14O32Cl2:Eu2+ and the commercially available phosphor BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+. The emission intensity of Ca12Al14O32F2:Eu2+ was ~72% that of BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+ under excitation at λ = 375 nm. The results indicate that Ca12Al14O32F2:Eu2+ has potential application as a near‐UV‐convertible blue phosphor for white light‐emitting diodes.  相似文献

We report the synthesis and structural characterization of Er3+,Yb3+‐doped Gd2O3 phosphor. The sample was prepared using the conventional solid‐state reaction method, which is the most suitable method for large‐scale production. The prepared phosphor sample was characterized using X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermoluminescence (TL), photoluminescence (PL) and CIE techniques. For PL studies, the excitation and emission spectra of Gd2O3 phosphor doped with Er3+ and Yb3+ were recorded. The excitation spectrum was recorded at a wavelength of 551 nm and showed an intense peak at 276 nm. The emission spectrum was recorded at 276 nm excitation and showed peaks in all blue, green and red regions, which indicate that the prepared phosphor may act as a single host for white light‐emitting diode (WLED) applications, as verified by International de I'Eclairage (CIE) techniques. From the XRD data, the calculated average crystallite size of Er3+ and Yb3+‐doped Gd2O3 phosphor is ~ 38 nm. A TL study was carried out for the phosphor using UV irradiation. The TL glow curve was recorded for UV, beta and gamma irradiations, and the kinetic parameters were also calculated. In addition, the trap parameters of the prepared phosphor were also studied using computerized glow curve deconvolution (CGCD). Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A solid‐state reaction route‐based LiTi2 ? xEux(PO4)3 was phosphor synthesized for the first time to evaluate its luminescence performance by excitation, emission and lifetime (τ) measurements. The LiTi2 ? xEux(PO4)3 phosphor was excited at λexci. = 397 nm to give an intense orange–red (597 nm) emission attributed to the 5D07F1 magnetic dipole (ΔJ = ±1) transition and red (616 nm) emission (5D07F2), which is an electric dipole (ΔJ = ±2) transition of the Eu3+ ion. Beside this, excitation and emission spectra of host LiTi2(PO4)3 powder were also reported. The effect of Eu3+ concentration on luminescence characteristics was explained from emission and lifetime profiles. Concentration quenching in the LiTi2 ? xEux(PO4)3 phosphor was studied from the Dexter's model. Dipole–quadrupole interaction is found to be responsible for energy transfer among Eu3+ ions in the host lattice. The LiTi2 ? xEux(PO4)3 phosphor displayed a reddish‐orange colour realized from a CIE chromaticity diagram. We therefore suggest that this new phosphor could be used as an optical material of technological importance in the field of display devices. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
