高寒草甸植物群落物种多样性和生产力关系的光竞争研究   总被引:3,自引:1,他引:3

通过施肥形成的生产力由低到高的过程中,物种多样性往往降低。总体竞争假说认为对所有资源的竞争作用对多样性的影响随着生产力提高而加剧,导致物种多样性的下降;光竞争假说则认为随着生产力提高,种间竞争从低生产力时的地下竞争转向高生产力时的光竞争,是光竞争导致了物种多样性的下降。为了验证这两种假说,本文通过在甘南玛曲高寒草甸的均匀施肥实验,研究了光竞争对高寒草甸植物群落物种多样性和生产力关系的影响。结果表明:(1)随着施肥梯度的增加,大部分植物的生长速率加快,高度和叶面积增加;(2)随着施肥梯度的增加,植物群落地上总的生物量提高,叶面积指数增加,透光率降低,物种多样性减少;(3)个体大小不对称的光竞争导致了高寒草甸植物群落物种多样性随施肥梯度的增加而减少。  相似文献

Diamond (Assembly of species communities. In: Cody ML, Diamond JM, editors. Ecology and evolution of communities. Cambridge: Belknap. p 342–444 ( 1975 )) argued that interspecific competition between species occupying similar niches results in a nonrandom pattern of species distributions. In particular, some species pairs may never be found in the same community due to competitive exclusion. Rigorous analytical methods have been developed to investigate the possible role that interspecific competition has on the evolution of communities. Many studies that have implemented these methods have shown support for Diamond's assembly rules, yet there are numerous exceptions. We build on this previous research by examining the co‐occurrence patterns of primate species in 109 communities from across the world. We used EcoSim to calculate a checkerboard (C) score for each region. The C score provides a measure of the proportion of species pairs that do not co‐occur in a set of communities. High C scores indicate that species are nonrandomly distributed throughout a region, and interspecific competition may be driving patterns of competitive exclusion. We conducted two sets of analyses. One included all primate species per region, and the second analysis assigned each species to one of four dietary guilds: frugivores, folivores, insectivores, and frugivore‐insectivores. Using all species per region, we found significantly high C scores in 9 of 10 regions examined. For frugivores, we found significantly high‐C scores in more than 50% of regions. In contrast, only 23% of regions exhibited significantly high‐C scores for folivores. Our results suggest that communities are nonrandomly structured and may be the result of greater levels of interspecific competition between frugivores compared to folivores. 施肥和刈割分别对植物群落物种多样性和生产力有重要的影响。采用不同施肥水平和刈割频度, 研究了施肥和刈割对亚高山草甸植物群落物种多样性与生产力及其关系的影响。结果显示, 5年的施肥和刈割处理对群落地上生物量均有显著影响, 但对物种多样性影响不显著; 物种多样性与生产力之间的关系因施肥和刈割次数的不同而不同, 有负相关、二次函数关系和不相关等几种类型, 多数为不相关。此结果表明施肥和刈割并不总是一致性地影响群落物种多样性与生产力。因此, 不同施肥和刈割处理下的亚高山草甸植物群落生产力与物种多样性之间并没有确定的关系。  相似文献

为了评价大面积人工种植杜仲对当地植物多样性的影响,以河南省汝阳县不同植被类型为研究对象,通过群落学调查,运用重要值、Shannon-Wiener物种多样性指数(H)、Simpson物种多样性指数(D)和均匀度指数(JH')等指标,统计分析杜仲人工林、温带落叶阔叶林(以下简称次生林)和撂荒地3种不同植被类型的植物物种多样性,探讨杜仲种植对植物多样性的影响。调查发现,杜仲林样地中出现植物82种,隶属39科63属,草本层为最发达的一层;次生林样地中出现植物70种,隶属32科62属,乔木层为最发达层;撂荒地样地中出现植物84种,隶属35科69属,无乔木层。杜仲林物种丰富度和多度均不亚于次生林和撂荒地,且杜仲林草本层物种丰富度和植株总数均高于次生林。统计分析显示,杜仲林乔木层、灌木层和草本层多样性指数H和D值、均匀度指数JH'值与其它两种植被类型相比无显著性差异(P0.05)。因此,种植杜仲过程中采用合理密度,适当管理,不仅能提供叶、花、果等资源,而且能够丰富草本植物的种类和数量,增加植物物种多样性。  相似文献

Human-driven changes in nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) inputs are modifying biogeochemical cycles and the trophic state of many habitats worldwide. These alterations are predicted to continue to increase, with the potential for a wide range of impacts on invertebrates, key players in ecosystem-level processes. Here, we present a meta-analysis of 1679 cases from 207 studies reporting the effects of N, P, and combined N + P enrichment on the abundance, biomass, and richness of aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates. Nitrogen and phosphorus additions decreased invertebrate abundance in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, with stronger impacts under combined N + P additions. Likewise, N and N + P additions had stronger negative impacts on the abundance of tropical than temperate invertebrates. Overall, the effects of nutrient enrichment did not differ significantly among major invertebrate taxonomic groups, suggesting that changes in biogeochemical cycles are a pervasive threat to invertebrate populations across ecosystems. The effects of N and P additions differed significantly among invertebrate trophic groups but N + P addition had a consistent negative effect on invertebrates. Nutrient additions had weaker or inconclusive impacts on invertebrate biomass and richness, possibly due to the low number of case studies for these community responses. Our findings suggest that N and P enrichment affect invertebrate community structure mainly by decreasing invertebrate abundance, and these effects are dependent on the habitat and trophic identity of the invertebrates. These results highlight the important effects of human-driven nutrient enrichment on ecological systems and suggest a potential driver for the global invertebrate decline documented in recent years.  相似文献

Diversity is one major factor driving plant productivity in temperate grasslands. Although decomposers like earthworms are known to affect plant productivity, interacting effects of plant diversity and earthworms on plant productivity have been neglected in field studies. We investigated in the field the effects of earthworms on plant productivity, their interaction with plant species and functional group richness, and their effects on belowground plant competition. In the framework of the Jena Experiment we determined plant community productivity (in 2004 and 2007) and performance of two phytometer plant species [Centaurea jacea (herb) and Lolium perenne (grass); in 2007 and 2008] in a plant species (from one to 16) and functional group richness gradient (from one to four). We sampled earthworm subplots and subplots with decreased earthworm density and reduced aboveground competition of phytometer plants by removing the shoot biomass of the resident plant community. Earthworms increased total plant community productivity (+11%), legume shoot biomass (+35%) and shoot biomass of the phytometer C. jacea (+21%). Further, phytometer performance decreased, i.e. belowground competition increased, with increasing plant species and functional group richness. Although single plant functional groups benefited from higher earthworm numbers, the effects did not vary with plant species and functional group richness. The present study indicates that earthworms indeed affect the productivity of semi-natural grasslands irrespective of the diversity of the plant community. Belowground competition increased with increasing plant species diversity. However, belowground competition was modified by earthworms as reflected by increased productivity of the phytometer C. jacea. Moreover, particularly legumes benefited from earthworm presence. Considering also previous studies, we suggest that earthworms and legumes form a loose mutualistic relationship affecting essential ecosystem functions in temperate grasslands, in particular decomposition and plant productivity. Further, earthworms likely alter competitive interactions among plants and the structure of plant communities by beneficially affecting certain plant functional groups.  相似文献

Summary Six islands, each less than a hectare in area, were isolated in about 1913 from the mainland of central Panamá by the rising waters of Gatun Lake. By 1980, the diversity of trees on all but one of these islands was far lower than on mainland plots of comparable size. A restricted subset of tree species has spread on these islands, notablyProtium panamense, Scheelea zonensis, Oenocarpus panamanus andSwartzia simplex. We constructed a null model to predict how chance would change tree diversity and the similarity of tree species compositions of different islands, assuming that each mature tree has equal chances of dying and/or reproducing, regardless of its species. This model cannot account for the diminished diversity of the changes in vegetation on these islands: some factors must be favoring a particular set of tree species.Two factors, exposure to wind and absence of mammals, seem needed to bring about the vegetation changes observed on these small islands. Their vegetation shows many signs of wind damage and of adaptation to resist wind, reflecting its exposure to dry season winds and storm winds sweeping across the lake from the west. Their most common tree species appear to have spread because mammals rarely visit these small and isolated islands. Seed of these common species are normally much eaten by mammals and do not need burial by mammals to escape insect attack.A thorough grasp of plant—animal interactions is needed to understand the events that have taken place on these islands. Aims Based on the dataset of a broad-leaved Korean pine forest in Jiaohe, Jilin Province, this research compared the influences of species diversity and community structure on productivity. We aim to explain the relationship between diversity and productivity for better forest management. Methods We used the data of 10 973 woody-plants in a 11.76 hm2 large sample plot and analyzed the correlations between 7 different indices of species diversity or community structure and productivity. Structural equation model was used to compare the effects of species diversity and community structure on productivity. Important findings The results showed that: (1) Both species diversity and community structure had significant effects on productivity when they were considered separately in linear regression analysis, i.e. species evenness was negatively correlated with productivity, the Shannon index of community structure was positively correlated with productivity and the Gini index was negatively correlated with productivity. (2) In the structural equation model, when simultaneously considered, community structure had stronger influence on productivity than species diversity. Our research suggests that, the effects of community structure on productivity are greater than species diversity and it is important to increase community structure complexity to improve forest productivity during forest management.  相似文献

The rapid expansion of road networks has reduced connectivity among populations of flora and fauna. The resulting isolation is assumed to increase population extinction rates, in part because of the loss of genetic diversity. However, there are few cases where loss of genetic diversity has been linked directly to roads or other barriers. We analysed the effects of such barriers on connectivity and genetic diversity of 27 populations of Ovis canadensis nelsoni (desert bighorn sheep). We used partial Mantel tests, multiple linear regression and coalescent simulations to infer changes in gene flow and diversity of nuclear and mitochondrial DNA markers. Our findings link a rapid reduction in genetic diversity (up to 15%) to as few as 40 years of anthropogenic isolation. Interstate highways, canals and developed areas, where present, have apparently eliminated gene flow. These results suggest that anthropogenic barriers constitute a severe threat to the persistence of naturally fragmented populations.  相似文献

于2007、2008年春季在中国科学院封丘农业生态实验站,研究长期定位施肥对麦田大型土壤动物群落结构的影响。调查共获得大型土壤动物3068头,隶属8纲,19目,28科。不同施肥处理条件下土壤动物类群数差异显著(F=2.51, P<0.05, df=55),个体数差异极显著(F=8.99, P<0.01, df=55)。结果显示,大型土壤动物的类群数和个体数在有机肥和营养均衡条件下较高,缺磷条件下较低。土壤动物多样性指数(H')以有机肥和营养均衡条件下显著高于营养不均衡和不施肥处理(P<0.05)。主成分分析结果显示,第一主成分贡献值47.14%,第二主成分贡献值30.10%。经线性检验第一主成分与土壤动物个体数(y=0.335x-2.163,R2=0.51)和类群数(y=0.042x-1.25,R2=0.67)均呈线性关系。总之,长期施用有机肥和营养均衡大型土壤动物群落构成相似。土壤有机质和磷含量是影响土壤动物群落构主要生态因子。  相似文献

Abstract Competitive partitioning of ‘community’ signal space has long been suggested to underlie diversification of mating signals. Selection or competitive exclusion is expected to reduce overlap of signals, minimizing destructive interference or reducing mismating. We used null models backed by simulation of type I and II error rates to test for evidence of structuring within 11 frog advertisement call assemblages. Within three assemblages, we found significant over‐dispersion and regularity‐of‐spacing in dominant frequency and in pulse rate, consistent with a signal interference hypothesis and signal confusion hypothesis, respectively. Observed partitioning could represent signal evolution or could result from selection on assemblage composition. Most assemblages showed no acoustic partitioning possibly because: (i) partitioning is more readily apparent in female preference, calling times or sites, rather than call attributes; (ii) assemblages have not yet accommodated recently arrived species, or are compositionally unstable so that acoustic accommodation cannot occur; and (iii) evidence of partitioning is only likely where the acoustic space is densely packed.  相似文献

That competition is stronger among closely related species and leads to phylogenetic overdispersion is a common assumption in community ecology. However, tests of this assumption are rare and field‐based experiments lacking. We tested the relationship between competition, the degree of relatedness, and overdispersion among plants experimentally and using a field survey in a native grassland. Relatedness did not affect competition, nor was competition associated with phylogenetic overdispersion. Further, there was only weak evidence for increased overdispersion at spatial scales where plants are likely to compete. These results challenge traditional theory, but are consistent with recent theories regarding the mechanisms of plant competition and its potential effect on phylogenetic structure. We suggest that specific conditions related to the form of competition and trait conservatism must be met for competition to cause phylogenetic overdispersion. Consequently, overdispersion as a result of competition is likely to be rare in natural communities.  相似文献

Environmental factors act as drivers of species coexistence or competition. Mesic environments favor the action of parasites and predators on gall communities, while the factors that determine the structure of gall communities in xeric environments remain unknown. We evaluated the structure of gall communities along an environmental gradient defined by intrinsic plant characteristics, soil fertility, and aridity, and investigated the role of competition as a structuring force of gall communities in xeric environments. We created null models to compare observed and simulated patterns of co‐occurrence of galls and used the C‐score index to assess community aggregation or segregation. We used the NES C‐score (standardized C‐score) to compare patterns of co‐occurrence with parameters of environmental quality. Xeric environments had poorer and more arid soils and more sclerophyllous plants than mesic environments, which was reflected in the distribution patterns of gall communities. Values of the C‐score index revealed a segregated distribution of gall morphospecies in xeric environments, but a random distribution in mesic environments. The low availability of resources for oviposition and the high density of gallers in xeric environments reinforce interspecific competition as an important structuring force for gall communities in these environments.  相似文献

The communities of planktonic Rotifera in thirty localities in Ethiopia were examined. All the localities lay at altitudes of over 1100 m and some were over 2000 m. The salinities ranged from 0.12 to 56.3% and in those lakes with salinities over 2% there was a marked reduction in the number of rotifer species, with Brachionus dimidiatus the most frequently dominant. The mean momentary species number in these Ethiopian samples is significantly higher than the means given by Pennak (1947) for Colorado and the rest of the world. Long-term planktonic species numbers in lakes Ziway and Awasa were about three times the mean momentary species number. The dominance ratios in the samples ranged from 19 to 91, but in general were lower than those given by Pennak. The most frequently dominant species were members of the family Brachionidae. Comparison with the data of Tonolli (1962) on the Lago Maggiore indicates that more data are needed on species diversity and dominance before valid geographical comparisons can be made.  相似文献

The diversity‐invasion resistance theory argues that increased diversity results in increased competitive suppression of establishing plants. Although there is support for the pattern of decreased invasion with increased diversity, empirical demonstrations of increased competition are limited. An experiment was conducted during a severe drought in a native grassland community. The drought resulted in minimal shading among neighbours, and in contrast to prior studies, competition here was exclusively belowground. Neither diversity nor community composition influenced root crowding or competition. It appears that when competition is belowground, it is independent of diversity, likely because of fundamental differences in the mechanisms of above‐ and belowground competition. This suggests that even at the neighbourhood scale, there is no inherently negative relationship between competition and diversity, and lends support to alternative theories which suggest factors of than diversity may more strongly influence community invasibility.  相似文献

根际作为重要的环境界面是植物与环境之间物质能量交换的场所,关于根际效应的研究已成为土壤生态学的新兴热点领域,然而有关大豆根际效应对土壤动物多样性影响的研究报道并不多见。在三江平原选择连续耕作15a的大豆田,对大豆根际区与非根际区土壤线虫群落结构组成进行了对比分析。结果表明:大豆根际区土壤线虫总数、辛普森多样性指数(Dom)显著高于非根际区,根际区的物种数(S)、物种丰富度指数(SR)显著低于非根际区。说明大豆根际效应增加土壤线虫的丰度,但降低了线虫群落结构的复杂性。大豆根际区植物寄生线虫(PP)、食真菌线虫(FF)和食细菌线虫(BF)数量显著高于非根际区,而PP类群的比例在根际区却显著低于非根际区。这一研究结果表明食微线虫(FF和BF)类群在大豆根际区的比例增加更显著。食真菌与食细菌线虫数量比值(F/B)指示大豆根际区细菌生物量相对高于真菌生物量。研究结果丰富了农田土壤线虫多样性的研究内容,并为我国东北大豆田线虫病害的防治及定制相应的农业管理措施提供参考。  相似文献

Despite several decades of study in community ecology, the relative importance of the ecological processes that determine species co‐occurrence across spatial scales remains uncertain. Some of this uncertainty may be reduced by studying the scale dependency of community assembly in the light of environmental variation. Phylogenetic information and functional trait information are often used to provide potentially valuable insights into the drivers of community assembly. Here, we combined phylogenetic and trait‐based tests to gain insights into community processes at four spatial scales in a large stem‐mapped subtropical forest dynamics plot in central China. We found that all of the six leaf economic traits measured in this study had weak, but significant, phylogenetic signal. Nonrandom phylogenetic and trait‐based patterns associated with topographic variables indicate that deterministic processes tend to dominate community assembly in this plot. Specifically, we found that, on average, co‐occurring species were more phylogenetically and functionally similar than expected throughout the plot at most spatial scales and assemblages of less similar than expected species could only be found on finer spatial scales. In sum, our results suggest that the trait‐based effects on community assembly change with spatial scale in a predictable manner and the association of these patterns with topographic variables, indicates the importance of deterministic processes in community assembly relatively to random processes.  相似文献
