Background

Over recent decades, a dramatic increase in infections caused by multidrug-resistant pathogens has been observed worldwide. The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between local resistance bacterial patterns and antibiotic consumption in an intensive care unit in a Romanian university hospital.

Methods

A prospective study was conducted between 1st January 2012 and 31st December 2013. Data covering the consumption of antibacterial drugs and the incidence density for the main resistance phenotypes was collected on a monthly basis, and this data was aggregated quarterly. The relationship between the antibiotic consumption and resistance was investigated using cross-correlation, and four regression models were constructed, using the SPSS version 20.0 (IBM, Chicago, IL) and the R version 3.2.3 packages.

Results

During the period studied, the incidence of combined-resistant and carbapenem-resistant P. aeruginosa strains increased significantly [(gradient = 0.78, R2 = 0.707, p = 0.009) (gradient = 0.74, R2 = 0.666, p = 0.013) respectively], mirroring the increase in consumption of β-lactam antibiotics with β-lactamase inhibitors (piperacillin/tazobactam) and carbapenems (meropenem) [(gradient = 10.91, R2 = 0.698, p = 0.010) and (gradient = 14.63, R2 = 0.753, p = 0.005) respectively]. The highest cross-correlation coefficients for zero time lags were found between combined-resistant vs. penicillins consumption and carbapenem-resistant P. aeruginosa strains vs. carbapenems consumption (0.876 and 0.928, respectively). The best model describing the relation between combined-resistant P. aeruginosa strains and penicillins consumption during a given quarter incorporates both the consumption and the incidence of combined-resistant strains in the hospital department during the previous quarter (multiple R2 = 0.953, p = 0.017). The best model for explaining the carbapenem resistance of P. aeruginosa strains based on meropenem consumption during a given quarter proved to be the adjusted model which takes into consideration both previous consumption and incidence density of strains during the previous quarter (Multiple R2 = 0.921, p = 0.037).

Conclusions

The cross-correlation coefficients and the fitted regression models provide additional evidence that resistance during the a given quarter depends not only on the consumption of antibacterial chemotherapeutic drugs in both that quarter and the previous one, but also on the incidence of resistant strains circulating during the previous quarter.

Gastric cancer incidence varies considerably among populations, even those with comparable rates of Helicobacter pylori infection. To test the hypothesis that genetic variation plays a role in gastric disease, we assessed the relationship between genotypes and gastric histopathology in a Colombian study population, using a genotyping array of immune-related single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). Two synonymous SNPs (rs6061243 and rs6587239) were associated with progression of premalignant gastric lesions in a dominant-effects model after correction for multiple comparisons (p = 2.63E?07 and p = 7.97E?07, respectively); effect sizes were β = ?0.863 and β = ?0.815, respectively, where β is an estimate of effect on histopathology scores, which ranged from 1 (normal) to 5 (dysplasia). In our replication cohort, a second Colombian population, both SNPs were associated with histopathology when additively modeled (β = ?0.256, 95 % CI = ?0.47, ?0.039; and β = ?0.239, 95 % CI = ?0.45, ?0.024), and rs6587239 was significantly associated in a dominant-effects model (β = ?0.330, 95 % CI = ?0.66, 0.00). Because promoter methylation of GATA5 has previously been associated with gastric cancer, we also tested for the association of methylation status with more advanced histopathology scores in our samples and found a significant relationship (p = 0.001). A multivariate regression model revealed that the effects of both the promoter methylation and the exonic SNPs in GATA5 were independent. A SNP-by-methylation interaction term was also significant. This interaction between GATA5 variants and GATA5 promoter methylation indicates that the association of either factor with gastric disease progression is modified by the other.  相似文献

Effects of oxygen transfer on recombinant protein production by Pichia pastoris under glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase promoter were investigated. Recombinant glucose isomerase was chosen as the model protein. Two groups of oxygen transfer strategies were applied, one of which was based on constant oxygen transfer rate where aeration rate was Q O/V = 3 and 10 vvm, and agitation rate was N = 900 min?1; while the other one was based on constant dissolved oxygen concentrations, C DO = 5, 10, 15, 20 and 40 % in the fermentation broth, by using predetermined exponential glucose feeding with μ o = 0.15 h?1. The highest cell concentration was obtained as 44 g L?1 at t = 9 h of the glucose fed-batch phase at C DO = 20 % operation while the highest volumetric and specific enzyme activities were obtained as 4440 U L?1 and 126 U g?1 cell, respectively at C DO = 15 % operation. Investigation of specific enzyme activities revealed that keeping C DO at 15 % was more advantageous with an expense of relatively higher by-product formation and lower specific cell growth rate. For this strategy, the highest oxygen transfer coefficient and oxygen uptake rate were K L a = 0.045 s?1 and OUR = 8.91 mmol m?3 s?1, respectively.  相似文献

The interactions of L-aminoglucosidic stereoisomers such as rhodostreptomycins A (Rho A) and B (Rho B) with cations (Mg2+, Ca2+, and H+) were studied by a quantum mechanical method that utilized DFT with B3LYP/6-311G**. Docking studies were also carried out in order to explore the surface recognition properties of L-aminoglucoside with respect to Mg2+ and Ca2+ ions under solvated and nonsolvated conditions. Although both of the stereoisomers possess similar physicochemical/antibiotic properties against Helicobacter pylori, the thermochemical values for these complexes showed that its high affinity for Mg2+ cations caused the hydration of Rho B. According to the results of the calculations, for Rho A–Ca2+(H2O)6, ΔH = ?72.21 kcal?mol?1; for Rho B–Ca2+(H2O)6, ΔH = ?72.53 kcal?mol?1; for Rho A–Mg2+(H2O)6, ΔH = ?72.99  kcal?mol?1 and for Rho B–Mg2+(H2O)6, ΔH = ?95.00  kcal?mol?1, confirming that Rho B binds most strongly with hydrated Mg2+, considering the energy associated with this binding process. This result suggests that Rho B forms a more stable complex than its isomer does with magnesium ion. Docking results show that both of these rhodostreptomycin molecules bind to solvated Ca2+ or Mg2+ through hydrogen bonding. Finally, Rho B is more stable than Rho A when protonation occurs.

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenases (G6PDs) are important enzymes widely used in bioassay and biocatalysis. In this study, we reported the cloning, expression, and enzymatic characterization of G6PDs from the thermophilic bacterium Thermoanaerobacter tengcongensis MB4 (TtG6PD). SDS-PAGE showed that purified recombinant enzyme had an apparent subunit molecular weight of 60 kDa. Kinetics assay indicated that TtG6PD preferred NADP+ (k cat/K m = 2618 mM?1 s?1, k cat = 249 s?1, K m = 0.10 ± 0.01 mM) as cofactor, although NAD+ (k cat/K m = 138 mM?1 s?1, k cat = 604 s?1, K m = 4.37 ± 0.56 mM) could also be accepted. The K m values of glucose-6-phosphate were 0.27 ± 0.07 mM and 5.08 ± 0.68 mM with NADP+ and NAD+ as cofactors, respectively. The enzyme displayed its optimum activity at pH 6.8–9.0 for NADP+ and at pH 7.0–8.6 for NAD+ while the optimal temperature was 80 °C for NADP+ and 70 °C for NAD+. This was the first observation that the NADP+-linked optimal temperature of a dual coenzyme-specific G6PD was higher than the NAD+-linked and growth (75 °C) optimal temperature, which suggested G6PD might contribute to the thermal resistance of a bacterium. The potential of TtG6PD to measure the activity of another thermophilic enzyme was demonstrated by the coupled assays for a thermophilic glucokinase.  相似文献

Fundulus grandis (Baird and Girard), the Gulf Killifish, is an abundant species throughout the marshes of the northern Gulf of Mexico. Its wide distribution and high site fidelity makes it an ideal indicator species for brackish and salt marshes, which experience a variety of anthropogenic disturbances. Despite the ecological, commercial, and scientific importance of F. grandis, age determination methods have not been validated and little is known of its growth pattern. By combining a tag-recapture study with a chemical marker to stain otoliths, we validated an ageing method for F. grandis adults (49–128 mm TL) using whole sagittal otoliths and determined growth rates of recaptured individuals in winter (n = 58) and summer (n = 36) in Louisiana. Mean somatic growth in length was significantly greater during the winter (0.085 mm d?1) than summer (0.054 mm d?1). In contrast, mean otolith growth was significantly greater in summer (1.37 μm d?1) than winter (0.826 μm d?1). The uncoupling of somatic and otolith growth may be primarily attributed to warm summer temperatures, which led to enhanced otolith growth while simultaneously reducing somatic growth. Fundulus grandis was aged to a maximum of 2.25 years. The parameters of the von Bertalanffy growth model were estimated as: L  = 87.27 mm, k = 2.43 year?1, and t 0 = ?0.022. These findings reveal essential age and growth information for F. grandis and provide a benchmark to evaluate responses to environmental disturbances.  相似文献

Many factors affect the integrity of messenger RNA from human autopsy tissues including postmortem interval (PMI) between death and tissue preservation and the pre-mortem agonal and disease states. In this communication, we describe RNA isolation and characterization of 389 samples from 18 different tissues from elderly donors who were participants in a rapid whole-body autopsy program located in Sun City, Arizona (www.brainandbodydonationprogram.org). Most tissues were collected within a PMI of 2–6 h (median 3.15 h; N = 455), but for this study, tissue from cases with longer PMIs (1.25–29.25 h) were included. RNA quality was assessed by RNA integrity number (RIN) and total yield (ng RNA/mg tissue). RIN correlated with PMI for heart (r = ?0.531, p = 0.009) and liver (r = ?558, p = 0.0017), while RNA yield correlated with PMI for colon (r = ?485, p = 0.016) and skin (r = ?0.460, p = 0.031). RNAs with the lowest integrity were from skin and cervix where 22.7 and 31.4 % of samples respectively failed to produce intact RNA; by contrast all samples from esophagus, lymph node, jejunum, lung, stomach, submandibular gland and kidney produced RNA with measurable RINs. Expression levels in heart RNA of 4 common housekeeping normalization genes showed significant correlations of Ct values with RIN, but only one gene, glyceraldehyde-3 phosphate dehydrogenase, showed a correlation of Ct with PMI. There were no correlations between RIN values obtained for liver, adrenal, cervix, esophagus and lymph node and those obtained from corresponding brain samples. We show that high quality RNA can be produced from most human autopsy tissues, though with significant differences between tissues and donors. The RNA stability and yield did not depend solely on PMI; other undetermined factors are involved, but these do not include the age of the donor.  相似文献

Invasive plants have wide-ranging impacts on native systems including reducing native plant richness and altering soil chemistry, microbes, and nutrient cycling. Increasingly, these effects are found to linger long after removal of the invader. We examined how soil chemistry, bacterial communities, and litter decomposition varied with cover of Euonymus fortunei, an invasive evergreen liana, in two central Kentucky deciduous forests. In one forest, E. fortunei invaded in the late 1990s but invasion remained patchy and we paired invaded and uninvaded plots to examine the associations between E. fortunei cover and our response variables. In the second forest, E. fortunei had completely invaded the forest by 2005; areas where it had been selectively removed by 2010 were paired with an adjacent invaded plot. Where E. fortunei had patchily invaded, E. fortunei patches had up to 3.5× nitrogen, 2.7× carbon, and 1.9× more labile glomalin in soils than uninvaded plots, whereas there were no differences in soil characteristics between invaded and removal plots. In the patchily invaded forest, bacterial community composition varied among invaded and non-invaded plots, whereas bacterial communities did not vary among invaded and removal plots. Finally, E. fortunei leaf litter decomposed faster (k = 4.91 year?1) than the native liana (k = 3.77 year?1), Vitis vulpina; decomposition of both E. fortunei and V. vulpina was faster in invaded (k = 7.10 year?1) than removal plots (k = 4.77 year?1). Our findings suggest that E. fortunei invasion increases the rate of leaf litter decomposition via high-quality litter, alters the decomposition environment, and shifts in the soil biotic communities associated with a dense mat of wintercreeper. Land managers with limited resources should target the densest mats for the greatest restoration potential and remove wintercreeper patches before they establish dense mats.  相似文献

Epigenetics has an important role in the regulation of metabolic adaptation to environmental modifications. In this sense, the determination of epigenetic changes in non-invasive samples during the development of metabolic diseases could play an important role in the procedures in primary healthcare practice. To help translate the knowledge of epigenetics to public health practice, the present study aims to explore the parallelism of methylation levels between white blood cells and buccal samples in relation to obesity and associated disorders. Blood and buccal swap samples were collected from a subsample of the Spanish cohort of the Food4Me study. Infinium HumanMethylation450 DNA Analysis was carried out for the determination of methylation levels. Standard deviation for β values method and concordance correlation analysis were used to select those CpG which showed best parallelism between samples. A total of 277 CpGs met the criteria and were selected for an enrichment analysis and a correlation analysis with anthropometrical and clinical parameters. From those selected CpGs, four presented high associations with BMI (cg01055691 in GAP43; r = ?0.92 and rho = ?0.84 for blood; r = ?0.89 and rho = ?0.83 for buccal sample), HOMA-IR (cg00095677 in ATP2A3; r = 0.82 and rho = ?0.84 for blood; r = ?0.8 and rho = ?0.83 for buccal sample) and leptin (cg14464133 in ADARB2; r = ?0.9182 and rho = ?0.94 for blood; r = ?0.893 and rho = ?0.79 for buccal sample). These findings demonstrate the potential application of non-invasive buccal samples in the identification of surrogate epigenetic biomarkers and identify methylation sites in GAP43, ATP2A3 and ADARB2 genes as potential targets in relation to overweight management and insulin sensibility.  相似文献

Overall nutritional status has been proved associated with people’s health. The overall nutritional status of children in Kashin-Beck disease (KBD) areas has been overlooked for decades. Therefore, it is worth investigating in the current generation to gather evidence and make suggestions for improvement. A cross-sectional study with three 24-h dietary recalls was conducted to collect raw data on the daily food intake of children. Recorded food was converted into daily nutrient intakes using CDGSS 3.0 software. WHO AnthroPlus software was used to analyse the BMI-for-age z-score (BAZ) for estimating the overall nutrition status of children. All the comparisons and regression analyses were conducted with SPSS 18.0 software. Multiple nutrient intakes among children from the Se-supplemented KBD-endemic were under the estimated average requirement. The protein-to-carbohydrate ratio (P/C ratio) was significantly higher in children from the non-Se-supplemented KBD-endemic area than the other areas (P < 0.001). The children’s BAZ was negatively associated with age (B = ?0.095, P < 0.001) and the number of KBD relatives (B = ?0.277, P = 0.04), and it was positively associated with better housing conditions, receiving colostrum, and daily intakes of niacin and zinc by multivariate regression analysis (F = 10.337, R = 0.609, P < 0.001).Compared to non-Se-supplemented KBD-endemic area and non-endemic areas, children in Se-supplemented KBD-endemic areas have an insufficient intake of multiple nutrients. School breakfast and lunch programmes are recommended, and strict implementation is the key to ensuring a positive effect.  相似文献

Lead (Pb) is a toxic metal, frequently associated with occupational exposure, due to its widespread use in industry and several studies have shown high Pb levels in workers occupationally exposed to the metal. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of milk and dairy products (MDP) on Pb levels in blood (B-Pb), plasma (P-Pb), and urine (U-Pb), in workers from automotive battery industries in Brazil. The study included 237 male workers; information concerning diet and lifestyle were gathered through a questionnaire, and B-Pb, P-Pb, and U-Pb were determined by ICP-MS. Mean B-Pb, P-Pb, and U-Pb were 21 ± 12, 0.62 ± 0.73 μg/dL, and 39 ± 47 μg/g creatinine, respectively. Forty three percent of participants declared consuming ≤3 portions/week of MDP (classified as low-MDP intake), while 57% of individuals had >3portions/week of MDP (high-MDP intake). B-Pb and P-Pb were correlated with working time (r s  = 0.21; r s  = 0.20; p < 0.010). Multivariable linear regressions showed a significant influence of MDP intake on B-Pb (β = ?0.10; p = 0.012) and P-Pb (β = ?0.16; p < 0.010), while no significance was seen on U-Pb. Our results suggest that MDP consumption may modulate Pb levels in individuals highly exposed to the metal; these findings may be due to the Pb-Ca interactions, since the adverse effects of Pb are partially based on its interference with Ca metabolism and proper Ca supplementation may help to reduce the adverse health effects induced by Pb exposure.  相似文献

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease with strong genetic components. To identity novel risk variants for ALS, utilizing the latest genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and eQTL study data, we conducted a genome-wide expression association analysis by summary data-based Mendelian randomization (SMR) method. Summary data were derived from a large-scale GWAS of ALS, involving 12577 cases and 23475 controls. The eQTL annotation dataset included 923,021 cis-eQTL for 14,329 genes and 4732 trans-eQTL for 2612 genes. Genome-wide single gene expression association analysis was conducted by SMR software. To identify ALS-associated biological pathways, the SMR analysis results were further subjected to gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA). SMR single gene analysis identified one significant and four suggestive genes associated with ALS, including C9ORF72 (P value = 7.08 × 10?6), NT5C3L (P value = 1.33 × 10?5), GGNBP2 (P value = 1.81 × 10?5), ZNHIT3(P value = 2.94 × 10?5), and KIAA1600(P value = 9.97 × 10?5). GSEA identified 7 significant biological pathways, such as PEROXISOME (empirical P value = 0.006), GLYCOLYSIS_GLUCONEOGENESIS (empirical P value = 0.043), and ARACHIDONIC_ACID_ METABOLISM (empirical P value = 0.040). Our study provides novel clues for the genetic mechanism studies of ALS.  相似文献

There is little information on any seasonal variations or meteorological factors associated with symptomatic bradyarrhythmias requiring cardiac pacing. The aim of this single-center study was to investigate the seasonal distribution of the incidence of severe, life-threatening bradyarrhythmias requiring urgent temporary transvenous cardiac pacing in an elderly population. Consecutive patients who underwent urgent temporary transvenous cardiac pacing between 2007 and 2012 were enrolled. The baseline characteristics of the patients and some meteorological parameters, including the calculation the daily heat index (HI), were recorded. During the study period, 79 consecutive patients (mean age 82?±?8 years, 41 % male) underwent urgent temporary transvenous cardiac pacing, mainly for third-degree atrioventricular block (79 %). During Ramadan, dehydration and disturbed sleep patterns are common, so accurate reliable methods for the assessment of hydration and sleep of athletes are necessary to maintain performance. The purpose of this review is: (1) to identify appropriate tools/methods for monitoring hydration status and sleep in sports people; (2) to discuss which of these tools/methods can be confidently used by sport scientists and trainers during Ramadan; and (3) to discuss the possible link that may exist between sleep and hydration status. Several markers of hydration status are currently used and include body mass, plasma/serum osmolality, dilution techniques, and neutron activation analysis. Used in an appropriate context, all can be indicative of the hydration status in the laboratory. In the field, monitoring hydration status in physically active individuals and athletes may be performed using a combination of body mass with some measure of urine concentration (e.g. urine osmolality, urine-specific gravity, urine color) and sensation of thirst. During Ramadan, appropriate timing of sample collection and the use of reference methods in future studies are warranted. In the field, careful use of body mass in conjunction with urine indices may be used to monitor the hydration status of subjects practicing physical activity during Ramadan. There is a need for the use of polysomnography or actigraphy for sleep assessment during Ramadan in future laboratory-based studies of athletes. However, in the field, monitoring sleep–wake patterns may be performed using actigraphy and/or the PSQI questionnaire.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine the occurrence and distribution of antibiotic resistant (AR) lactic acid bacteria (LAB) in Indian poultry. LAB from poultry farm feces (n = 21) and samples from slaughter houses comprising chicken intestine (n = 46), raw meat (n = 23), and sanitary water (n = 4) were evaluated and compared with those from organic chicken (OC) collected from nearby villages. Screening studies showed 5–7 log units higher erythromycin (ER), tetracycline (TC) and vancomycin (VAN) resistant LAB from conventional poultry chicken (CC) compared to OC. Molecular characterization of isolated cultures (n = 32) with repetitive-PCR profiling and 16S rRNA gene sequencing revealed their taxonomical status as Enterococcus faecium (n = 16), Enterococcus durans (n = 2), Lactobacillus plantarum (n = 10), Lactobacillus pentosus (n = 1) and Lactobacillus salivarius (n = 3). The isolates were found to harbor erm(B), msr(C), msr(A/B), tet(M), tet(L) and tet(K) genes associated with Tn916 and Tn917 family transposons. Expression studies through real-time PCR revealed antibiotic-induced expression of the identified AR genes. In vitro and in vivo conjugational studies revealed transfer of ER and TC resistant (ERR and TCR) genes with transfer frequencies of 10?7 and 10?4 transconjugants recipient?1, respectively. Although no known VAN resistance (VANR) genes were detected, high phenotypic resistance was observed and was transferable to the recipient. From a public health point of view, this study reports Indian poultry as a major source of high levels of AR bacteria contaminating the food chain and the environment. Thus, urgent and determined strategies are needed to control the spread of multiple AR bacteria.  相似文献

The effects of a bioinsecticide formulation based on extract of Annona squamosa L. (Annonaceae) containing 10,000 mg L?1 of acetogenin annonin as the main active ingredient were investigated against three primary pest species of stored grains in Brazil [maize weevil Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), Mexican bean weevil Zabrotes subfasciatus (Boheman) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae), and cowpea weevil Callosobruchus maculatus (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae)] by means of residual contact bioassays. In a concentration-dependent manner, the annonin-based commercial bioinsecticide caused significant adult mortality of C. maculatus (LC50 = 6890 μL kg?1), S. zeamais (LC50 = 2781 μL kg?1), and Z. subfasciatus (LC50 = 2120 μL kg?1) after 120 h of residual contact exposure. In addition to acute toxicity, the tested bioinsecticide also promoted a significant reduction of the number of eggs laid by females of C. maculatus (EC50 = 5949.7 μL kg?1) and Z. subfasciatus (EC50 = 552.7 μL kg?1). Moreover, the bioinsecticide significantly reduced the number of emerged insects (F1 generation) of C. maculatus (EC50 = 2763.0 μL kg?1), S. zeamais (EC50 = 1380.8 μL kg?1), and Z. subfasciatus (EC50 = 561.5 μL kg?1). The bioinsecticide also reduced the percentage of damaged grains for the three pest species studied, and its grain-protectant properties are comparable to or superior in efficacy in relation to a diatomaceous earth-based insecticide (Insecto® at 1000 mg kg?1) used as a positive control. Thus, this standardized formulation has promising bioactivity against stored insect species and can be a useful component for IPM of stored grains in Brazil and elsewhere.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to develop a nanodelivery system containing a mucoadhesive polymer hyaluronic acid (HA) for oral delivery. Metformin was used as a model drug. Blank and drug-loaded HA nanostructures were prepared by precipitation method and characterized for particle size (PS), zeta potential (ZP), physical stability (over 65 days), surface morphology, moisture content, and physical state of the drug in the nanostructures. The cytotoxicity and hemolysis potential of the delivery system was assessed in Caco-2 cells and whole human blood, respectively. The in vitro release of metformin and its uptake in Caco-2 cells was evaluated using high-performance liquid chromatography. Ex vivo permeability of metformin was measured through goat intestinal membrane. The nanoparticles were physically stable and neutrally charged with an average PS of 114.53?±?12.01 nm. This nanodelivery system existed as nanofibers containing metformin in a crystalline state. This delivery system released the drug rapidly with >?50% of metformin released within 1 h. Cellular uptake studies on Caco-2 cells indicated higher uptake of metformin from nanoparticle as compared to metformin in solution, up to first 45 min. Ex vivo permeability studies on the other hand showed a higher metformin permeability from solution relative to that from nanoparticles through the goat intestinal membrane. Metformin nanoparticles were non-toxic at therapeutic concentrations in Caco-2 cells and showed no hemolytic effect to RBCs. In the last 40 years, the shallow steppe lake, Neusiedler See, was ice covered between 0 and 97 days. The North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) as well as the Mediterranean Oscillation affected the lake and its conditions during winter. Both climate indices correlated negatively with the duration of ice cover and the timing of ice-out. Average winter phytoplankton biomass increased from less than 0.2 (0.05–0.84) mg FM l?1 in the late 1960s/beginning of 1970s to 3.1 (1.72–5.61) mg FM l?1 in the years 2001–2004. The increase in annual winter biomass of phytoplankton was associated with a significant shift in the composition of the algal assemblage. In the winter 1997/1998, diatoms contributed between 40 and 80% to the phytoplankton biomass while in 2006/2007 cyanoprokaryotes contributed 46%. Mean chlorophyll-a concentrations during winter were significantly correlated with those of total phosphorus (Ptot). Together with cold-water species (rotifer Rhinoglena fertöensis), perennial, eurythermal ones (copepod Arctodiaptomus spinosus) contributed to the zooplankton community. High zooplankton numbers were encountered when rotifers, particularly when densities of Rhinoglena fertöensis were high (r 2 = 0.928). Zooplankton abundance and biomass varied from year to year but correlated positively with Chl-a (biomass ? r 2 = 0.69; numbers ? r 2 = 0.536). Winter zooplankton populations were primarily influenced by winter conditions, but in early winter also by survival of autumn populations, i.e., the more adults of Arctodiaptomus spinosus survived into winter, the higher was the zooplankton biomass in early winter. Phyto- and zooplankton dynamics in shallow lakes of the temperate region seem to critically depend on the biomass in autumn and on winter conditions, specifically on ice conditions and thus are related to climate signals such as the NAO.  相似文献

In Shanghai, a new iodized salt standard was implemented in 2012. To provide evidence to the government, we compared iodine status before (35 mg/kg) and after (30 mg/kg) adjustment in vulnerable populations living in Shanghai. The probability-proportional-to-size sampling technique was used to select at least 360 pregnant women for urine iodine test and at least 1200 students for thyroid measurement and the household salt test. Of these students, at least 360 performed urine iodine test. The median thyroid volume and the median household salt iodine concentration of children aged 8–10 years were 1.80 ml and 24.8 mg/kg in 2015, and 0.97 ml and 28.3 mg/kg in 2011. The median urine iodine concentration (UIC) of pregnant women was 126.52 and 139.77 μg/L in 2015 and 2011. All differences were statistically significant (P?<?0.05). The median UIC of students was 171.40 and 181.63 μg/L in 2015 and 2011, the difference was not statistically significant. Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that thyroid volume in children was associated with sex, age, region, and household salt iodized concentration. The current iodized salt concentration meets the basic needs of the population’s iodine requirements except for pregnant women. Periodic monitoring is necessary particularly in vulnerable groups.  相似文献

Urine lead level is one of the most employed measures of lead exposure and risk. The urine samples used in this study were obtained from ten healthy male cyclists. Dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction combined with ultraviolet and visible spectrophotometry was utilized for preconcentration, extraction, and determination of lead in urine samples. Optimization of the independent variables was carried out based on chemometric methods in three steps. According to the screening and optimization study, 133 μL of CCl4 (extracting solvent), 1.34 mL ethanol (dispersing solvent), pH 2.0, 0.00 % of salt, and 0.1 % O,O-diethyl dithiophosphoric (chelating agent) were used as the optimum independent variables for microextraction and determination of lead. Under the optimized conditions, R 2 was 0.9991, and linearity range was 0.01–100 μg L?1. Precision was evaluated in terms of repeatability and intermediate precision, with relative standard deviations being <9.1 and <15.3 %, respectively. The accuracy was estimated using urine samples of cyclists as real samples and it was confirmed. The relative error of ≤5 % was considered significant in the method specificity study. The lead concentration mean for the cyclists was 3.79 μg L?1 in urine samples. As a result, the proposed method is a robust technique to quantify lead concentrations higher than 11.6 ng L?1 in urine samples.  相似文献
