A new harvestman species, Rilaena artvinensis sp. n. (Opiliones: Phalangiidae), is described and illustrated based on males collected in north-eastern Anatolia, Turkey. The new species is similar to R. buresi (?ilhavý, 1965) and R. lenkoranica Snegovaya, 2007. The differences between these species are elaborated.http://www.zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:A53452BB-A85D-4BE8-8A6B-D0FC3421AFE3 相似文献

AbstractTwo new species of the genus Esakia Lundblad, 1933 are described, both from Borneo: Esakia borneensis sp. n. and E. mazzoldii sp. n. For the first time, E. johorensis Cheng, 1966 is reported from Sumatra; E. hungerfordi Miyamoto, 1967 from Sarawak and Sabah; and E. lundbladi Cheng, 1966 from Thailand (Narathiwat Province). The taxonomy of E. kuiterti Hungerford and Matsuda, 1958 and E. hungerfordi is discussed. Esakia hungerfordi, previously considered by Polhemus (1992) as a synonym of E. fernandoi, is treated here as a separate species from the latter. Easkia kuiterti, which was also synonymised with E. ventidioides Lundlblad, 1933 by Polhemus (1992), is considered valid species. http://zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:F6E94274-2305-4096-9186-2D799124E2FA 相似文献

First description of hatchlings and eggs of Octopus oliveri (Berry, 1914) (Cephalopoda: Octopodidae)
Chromatophore patterns can be used to identify paralarvae at the species level and are used here to distinguish Octopus oliveri (Berry, 1914) from other Hawaiian cephalopod paralarvae. Eggs, clutches, and hatchlings are described for the first time in O. oliveri. Preservation times are compared to illustrate variation in founder chromatophore patterns even among individuals of the same brood. 相似文献

ABSTRACT One proven strategy to help students make sense of abstract concepts is to sequence instruction so students have exploratory opportunities to investigate science before being introduced to new science explanations (Abraham and Renner 1986; Renner, Abraham, and Birnie 1988). To help physical science teachers make sense of how to effectively sequence lessons, this article summarizes our experiences using an exploration–explanation sequence of instruction to teach Bernoulli's principle to prospective middle and secondary science teachers in a science methods course. We use demonstrations during our Bernoulli unit to help students go back and forth between their observations of phenomenon and what occurs on the microscopic level with what we have termed molecular talk. Students engage in guiding questions, consider their old and new understandings of science, and use evidence to construct new ideas during all stages of the lesson. 相似文献

The evolutionary history of two species belonging to the genus Orthocladius van der Wulp, 1874 (Diptera: Chironomidae) from Lake Baikal was investigated using the mitochondrial gene coding the first subunit of the cytochrome c oxidase (CO1 mtDNA). The phylogenetic analysis indicated that the Baikal Orthocladius species were divided into two well-defined clades where O. (Orthocladius) gregarius Linevitsh, 1970 was a sister species to Palaearctic O. (Orthocladius) nitidoscutellatus Lundstrom, 1915 and the O. (Eudactylocladius) sp. was a sister species to Nearctic O. (Eudactylocladius) subletteorum Cranston, 1998. Divergence time estimates indicated that these species had been evolving independently for about 18 Ma (Neogene, Early Miocene), while emergence of the most recent common ancestors of the modern O. (Orthocladius) gregarius and O. (Eudactylocladius) sp. was dated to about 3.5 Ma (Neogene, Pliocene). The evolution of Baikal orthoclads occurred from the rheophilic fauna under conditions of global climate change during the geological history of the Baikal Depression in the Tertiary Period. 相似文献

Phylloicus Müller, 1880 and Banyallarga Navás, 1916 are endemic Neotropical genera of Calamoceratidae. Currently, Phylloicus has 55 extant species, 19 of which are recorded from Brazil, and a fossil species from Dominican amber. In this paper, a new species of Phylloicus is described and illustrated from specimens collected in Amazonas State, Brazil. This new species has peculiar hind wing venation, with vein R4 attached basally to the base of R2+3. Therefore, a modified diagnosis to the genus is presented to include Phylloicus dumasi sp. nov. The new species is somewhat similar to P. paprockii Prather, 2003, but can be distinguished from these and other Phylloicus species by the atypical hind wing venation, uniform colouration, and male genitalia with tergum IX produced posteriorly into two wide lobes. 相似文献

AbstractHydrotrupes chinensis Nilsson, 2003 described from the holotype collected in Anhui Province, China, is newly recorded from three localities in Guangdong Province, ca. 750?km southwest from the type locality. The species seems to inhabit hygropetric habitats exclusively, with diurnal larvae and nocturnal adults hidden under stones or in cracks in rock during the day; when disturbed, the adults readily jumped off the rock surface. The adult is redescribed. The larvae are described and illustrated for the first time, with detailed morphometric and chaetotaxic analyses of the cephalic capsule, head appendages, legs, last abdominal segment, and urogomphi. Whereas similar morphologically to the Nearctic endemic Hydrotrupes palpalis Sharp, 1882, the first instar larva of H. chinensis distinguishes by presence of six lamellae clypeales, two additional spine-like setae both on the last abdominal segment and urogomphomere 1, and the strongly developed egg bursters. 相似文献

A new species of Larsia Fittkau, 1962, viz. Larsia angusticornis sp. n., is described and adults and immatures are figured. The study is based on larvae collected from phytotelmata of the bromeliad Aechmea distichantha Lemaire, 1853 in northeastern Argentina that were reared to the adult stage. The pupa bears thoracic horns unusual for the genus, which distinguish this new species from other Larsia species.http://zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:41DFD96D-98E2-4FFC-9CDE-C290BCA84D45 相似文献

Cheumatopsyche brevilineata (Iwata, 1927) is a filter-feeding caddisfly without distinct separable generations. We conducted a life history survey of C. brevilineata under a natural thermal regime. This caddis species had a multivoltine life history and their generations partially overlapped each other. From the seasonal change of larval and pupal density, we recognized one overwintering generation and three non-winter generations. We propose a new method to estimate the population size of fourth instar larvae from each generation by using the ‘development zero’ and ‘effective degree-days’ methods. The second non-winter generation, developing under the hottest water temperature regime, had the largest population size and highest observed density. The overwintering generation, which developed under the coolest thermal regime, showed the smallest population size but its observed density was not the smallest. 相似文献

The genus Cheimacheramus Barnard, 1934 included only three species, one from South Africa and two from Madagascar. Four new Malagasy species are described herein: Cheimacheramus akandi sp. n., Cheimacheramus barnardi sp. n. and Cheimacheramus anjojorobensis sp. n. from the Anjojorobe Forest, Cheimacheramus madecassus sp. n. from the Lakato Forest and the Marojejy National Park. Diagnostic characters of the genus and species are discussed and illustrated. In Madagascar, these discoveries confirm the localization of the genus within the eastern evergreen forests.http://zoobank.org/urn:zoobank.org:pub:79472077-04E9-42FA-B55B-9EE291556E60 相似文献

Abstract A four-year study of species composition of the zooplankton community was conducted at Lagoa Comprida, a Brazilian coastal lagoon. Forty-two species of rotifers were recorded and illustrated. All rotifer species, except Lecane boettgeri Koste, 1986 and Macrochaetus kostei, José de Paggi, Branco &; Kozlowsky-Suzuki, 2000, have already been found in other areas of Brazil. Some factors, which probably favored the dominant richness and density of rotifers in the zooplankton community, are discussed. 相似文献
