Hereditary polymorphism of haptoglobin is studied by means of starch gel electrophoresis in schizophrenic patients (200 persons) and in healthy people (154 persons), in habitants of Minsk. It is concluded that Minsk inhabitants do not differ considerably from the rest European population in their frequencies of haptoglobin alleles. No reliable differences in the distribution of haptoglobin genotypes were found between patients and healthy persons. However, hereditary types of haptoglobins turned to be markers of the course and the prognosis of schizophrenia.  相似文献

In eleven patients with dementia senilis circadian rhythms of hematocrit, hemoglobin, erythrocytes, leukocytes, serum iron and transferrin were studied by means of the cosinor method. An evident circadian rhythm was observed for all blood components, except leukocytes. There were no significant differences between patients with dementia senilis and healthy aged persons as far as hematocrit, hemoglobin, erythrocytes, and leukocytes are concerned. Acrophase for serum iron and transferrin occurs a little earlier and mesor is lower than in healthy aged persons.  相似文献

Haptoglobin and transferrin types were studied in schizophrenic patients and controls. In the haptoglobin system a significant departure from the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium with an excess of heterozygotes was found among the patients (p less than 0.01). The distribution of haptoglobin types in the schizophrenic patients was significantly different from that in the controls. The distribution of transferrin types showed a good agreement with the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. There was no significant difference between patients and controls with respect to transferrin types.  相似文献

Clinical, bacteriological, serological and epidemiological studies of ozena morbidity among the population of Minsk were carried out in 1970-1980. On January 1, 1981, the ozena morbidity rate among the inhabitants of Minsk was 26.72%. Ozena was found to affect mainly children and women. A wide spread of the family foci of this disease (31.68%) was revealed. The results of this study indicate that the source of K. ozaenae is a sick person who begins to excrete the bacteria in the prodromal period of the disease and may continue to excrete them for many years. The transfer of K. ozaenae occurs probably by droplet or contact infection. The droplet infection is less active in the absence of symptoms (coughing, sneezing) facilitating excretion of the infective agent into the air and in cases of the low susceptibility of persons to ozena. The main measures for controlling ozena are the timely detection and sanitation of the sources of ozena, as well as the current disinfection of the infection foci in apartments.  相似文献

A thermomechanical method was applied to the study of the interaction of the model desoxyribonucleoprotein systems (DNP-systems) of chromatin with the blood sera of healthy and sick persons. It was demonstrated that the blood sera of healthy persons caused decondensation of the DNP-systems. The intensity of this action varied when the sera with the composition altered as a result of pathology were used: the sera of the patients suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus increased the condensation; in comparison with the sera of healthy persons, the sera of schizophrenic patients intensified the DNP-system decondensation. The sera action was not connected with the activity of the serum enzymes. The role played by the serum components in regulation of the structural-functional chromatin properties is discussed.  相似文献

This study was carried out on 50 patients suffering from renal disorders; 30 nephritis patients and 20 chronic renal failure patients. Twenty-four healthy persons were used as a control group. In order to cast some light on the degree of the impaired glomerular permeability with respect to the blood proteins, selectivity of proteinuria was assessed by means of the clearance of albumin, ceruloplasmin, transferrin, and haptoglobin. Disturbances in the metabolism of these proteins were observed and discussed in light of the proteinuria selectivity index. The demonstration of the selective proteinuria in the presence of haptoglobin was concluded to be indicative of the degree of impaired glomerular permeability in nephritis and chronic renal failure.  相似文献

By means of mathematical apparatus of a model of frequency lexical structure the structure of repetitions was studied in association flows of 10 healthy persons, 10 patients with sequelae of closed craniocerebral injury, and 10 schizophrenics. In comparison to healthy persons in those after the brain injury the number of repetitions was increased and the distances between the first and the last use of the repeated words were significant. In schizophrenic persons the repetitions of the words were situated at the local portions of association flows. The structure of repetitions in these association flows was close to that of the usual connected text by the general quantitative norms. Such structure of repetitions should be explained by the presence of a parasitical system of connections between the words equivalent by its strength to usual rational connections in a meaningful text.  相似文献

Elderly persons in residential homes in the Netherlands are at high risk for developing major depressive and anxiety disorders. A stepped-care protocol being used in a study for vulnerable elderly in the community may also be feasible and effective for this group. A pilot study in a residential home in Amsterdam showed more problems than expected in screening and motivating the inhabitants for this intervention protocol. This article describes the problems in our screening procedure. A personal approach, performed by familiar persons, directed at the more independent inhabitants is most likely to succeed. The need for research on effectiveness and feasibility of evidence based methods in residential care remains evident. However, the more vulnerable inhabitants need something else. For this group of inhabitants we need to look more closely to the needs and possibilities by conducting research using a qualitative design.  相似文献

The paper is dedicated to the problem of disturbed "connectivity" between different cortical areas in schizophrenic patients with the dominance of "negative" and "positive" symptoms. The architecture of cortical connections in high-frequency range of the beta rhythm (beta 2, 20-40 Hz) was studied in three groups of right-handed men: healthy control group (16 subjects) and schizophrenic patients with the dominance of positive (16 subjects) and negative (22 subjects) symptoms assessed by the SAPS and SANS scales. Two versions of the Intracortical Interaction Mapping (IIM) technique of examination of cortical connections were used. In the 1st version, mean connection frequencies in the beta 2-rhythm for each group were analyzed. In the 2nd version, the most typical for a given group connection frequencies were studied. Additionally, since the IIM technique is rather new, coherence function in the beta 2-rhythm calculated by the standard way was also taken into account. The obtained results made it possible to reveal the derangements in the system of cortical interactions in schizophrenic patients.  相似文献

The results of comparative analysis of gene and structural mutations found in peripheral blood lymphocytes of inhabitants of Orel district areas contaminated with radionuclides as a result of Chernobyl accident are presented. The average level of 137Cs contamination in those areas ranged about 22-113 kBq/m2. In the study group was found the enhanced frequency of somatic cells with gene and structural mutations compared with laboratory control level by synchronous applying a T-cell receptor (TCR) loci mutation assay and cytogenetic analysis of unstable aberrations. The case-control comparison was carried out using the measured mutation frequencies and cases of various thyroid gland sickness recognized by ultrasonic examination. The cytogenetic assay did not show the statistical difference between healthy group and subjects with thyroid gland sickness. The average frequency of TCR loci mutation cells in the subjects with thyroid gland sickness was found to be statistically higher comparing with healthy persons. This finding was true for each study region and for Orel district in total. The subgroup of subject exposed in utero in 1986, soon after accident was analyzed. Both cytogenetic and TCR loci mutation assays shown enhancement of average mutation frequency in somatic cells in the subjects of this subgroup with thyroid gland sickness comparing with healthy persons.  相似文献

In the period of 2001-2004, frequency of cells bearing mutations at T-cell receptor (TCR) locus was assessed in 553 inhabitants of radiation polluted regions of the Russian Federation and 154 unexposed control persons. The inhabitants were divided into three groups according to age at the moment of the Chernobyl disaster and 137Cs pollution density: 1) in utero, 37-555 kBq/m2; 2) 0-14 years old, 20-555 kBq/m2; 3) 18 and more years old, highest 137Cs density (185 more than 555 kBq/m2). The most intense changes of the TCR-mutant cell frequency were observed in the group of persons exposed to ionizing radiation in utero. The mean frequency of the mutant cells was higher in the first group than in age-matched control group by about 1.5-fold: 4.0 x 10(-4) vs 2.7 x 10(-4) accordingly (p < 0.0001). Elevation in the mean TCR-mutant cell frequency was less expressed in group of inhabitants aged 0-14 years at the moment of irradiation start: 1.3-fold increase in comparison to age-matched control (3.8 x 10(-4) vs 2.9 x 10(-4), p = 0.0002). It was not found significant differences in mutant cell frequencies between control group and adults consisting in the third group (18 and more years old at the moment of the Chernobyl accident). The changes of the TCR-mutant cell frequency in persons exposed in pre- and postnatal periods differ not only quantitatively, but qualitatively. In the fist case all persons react to irradiation by increasing number of the TCR-mutant cells in some degree. In the second case - only a part of population. Proportion of reacting persons depends on age at the start of irradiation and, perhaps, on dose absorbed. The TCR-mutant frequency was significantly higher in persons with benign tumors of different localizations and nodules in thyroid gland than in persons without this pathology.  相似文献

The Fecal microflora of 15 healthy elderly persons with a median age of 84 years in a rural area whose inhabitants tend to be long-lived (Yuzurihara-area, Uenohara, Yamanashi Prefecture) was compared with the microflora of individuals with a median age of 68 years in an urban area (Tokyo). The diet of the elderly persons in the Yuzurihara area is characterized by a high intake of dietary fiber. Total numbers of anaerobic bacteria were significantly smaller in the elderly persons in the Yuzurihara area than those in the Tokyo area. A significantly large number of bifidobacteria, but not of lecithinase-negative clostridia, was observed in the elderly persons in the Yuzurihara area. Large numbers and high incidences of bacilli and lecithinase-positive clostridia (mainly Clostridium perfringens) were found in the elderly persons in the Tokyo area. Twenty-five genera and over 81 species were isolated from the elderly persons in the Yuzurihara area, and 25 genera and over 92 species were isolated from the elderly persons in the Tokyo area. Furthermore, significantly larger numbers of Bifidobacterium adolescentis and Fusobacterium mortiferum strains were found in the Yuzurihara group, but significant reductions in the Bacteroides buccae-oris group, B. thetaiotaomicron, Bacteroides spp., C. coccoides, C. paraputrificum, and Clostridium spp. were observed in the same group. A significantly higher isolation rate of Bacillus subtilis was observed in the elderly persons in the Tokyo area. The difference in the fecal microflora between elderly persons in Yuzurihara and those in the Tokyo area might be due to a difference in the intake of dietary fiber.  相似文献

Studies suggest that a functional polymorphism of the brain-derived neurotrophic factor gene (BDNF Val66Met) may mediate hippocampal-dependent cognitive functions. A few studies have reported its role in cognitive deficits in schizophrenia including its association with peripheral BDNF levels as a mediator of these cognitive deficits. We assessed 657 schizophrenic inpatients and 445 healthy controls on the repeatable battery for the assessment of neuropsychological status (RBANS), the presence of the BDNF Val66Met polymorphism and serum BDNF levels. We assessed patient psychopathology using the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale. We showed that visuospatial/constructional abilities significantly differed by genotype but not genotype?×?diagnosis, and the Val allele was associated with better visuospatial/constructional performance in both schizophrenic patients and healthy controls. Attention performance showed a significant genotype by diagnosis effect. Met allele-associated attention impairment was specific to schizophrenic patients and not shown in healthy controls. In the patient group, partial correlation analysis showed a significant positive correlation between serum BDNF and the RBANS total score. Furthermore, the RBANS total score showed a statistically significant BDNF level?×?genotype interaction. We demonstrated an association between the BDNF Met variant and poor visuospatial/constructional performance. Furthermore, the BDNF Met variant may be specific to attentional decrements in schizophrenic patients. The association between decreased BDNF serum levels and cognitive impairment in schizophrenia is dependent on the BDNF Val66Met polymorphism.  相似文献

The majority of the viral hepatitis cases is caused by five hepatitis viruses (A,B,C,D,E). In 1997, TT virus was discovered. It was supposed that a number of the unknown hepatitis cases was caused by the TT virus. The aim of this study was to characterize TT viruses carried by healthy individuals and patients suffering from hepatitis of unknown origin in Hungary. TTV DNA was detected by seminested PCR with the commonly used N22 primers. Twenty of the 108 sera (18.5%) taken from healthy persons and 115 of the 228 sera (50.4%) of patients with hepatitis of unknown origin were found to be positive. The nucleotide sequences of 26 clones derived from 17 hepatitis patients and 15 clones from nine healthy persons were determined and a phylogenetic tree was constructed. Genotype 2 (group 1) was found to be the most frequent, but other group 1 genotypes (1, 6) and genotypes 8 and 17 of group 2 were also detected. Mixed TTV infections were found in eight cases (two healthy persons and six hepatitis patients). Variants belonging to the same group were carried in seven cases, and the presence of group 1 (genotype 2) and group 2 (genotype 8) TTV sequences were found in one single hepatitis patient.  相似文献

To search for EEG-correlates of emotional processing that might be indicators of genetic predisposition to schizophrenia, changes in EEG spectral power during perception of neutral and emotionally salient words were examined in 36 schizophrenic patients, 50 of their unaffected first-degree relatives, and 47 healthy individuals without any family history of psychoses. In healthy persons, passive listening to neutral words induced minimum changes in cortical rhythmical activity, predominantly in the form of synchronization of slow and fast waves, whereas perception of emotional words was followed by a generalized depression of the alpha and beta1 activity and a locally specific decrease in the power of theta and beta2 frequency bands. The patients and their relatives showed a decrease in the alpha and beta1 activity simultaneously with an increase in the power of delta activity in response to both groups of words. Thus, in the patients and their relatives, reactions to neutral and emotional words were ulterior as a result of augmented reactions to the neutral words. These findings suggest that the EEG changes reflect familial and possibly hereditable abnormal involuntary attention. No prominent decrease in reactivity to emotional stimuli was revealed in schizophrenic families.  相似文献

ObjectiveIt is known that there is a high prevalence of certain anxiety disorders among schizophrenic patients, especially panic disorder and social phobia. However, the neural underpinnings of the comorbidity of such anxiety disorders and schizophrenia remain unclear. Our study aims to determine the neuroanatomical basis of the co-occurrence of schizophrenia with panic disorder and social phobia.MethodsVoxel-based morphometry was used in order to examine brain structure and to measure between-group differences, comparing magnetic resonance images of 20 anxious patients, 20 schizophrenic patients, 20 schizophrenic patients with comorbid anxiety, and 20 healthy control subjects.ResultsCompared to the schizophrenic patients, we observed smaller grey-matter volume (GMV) decreases in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and precentral gyrus in the schizophrenic-anxiety group. Additionally, the schizophrenic group showed significantly reduced GMV in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, precentral gyrus, orbitofrontal cortex, temporal gyrus and angular/inferior parietal gyrus when compared to the control group.ConclusionsOur findings suggest that the comorbidity of schizophrenia with panic disorder and social phobia might be characterized by specific neuroanatomical and clinical alterations that may be related to maladaptive emotion regulation related to anxiety. Even thought our findings need to be replicated, our study suggests that the identification of neural abnormalities involved in anxiety, schizophrenia and schizophrenia-anxiety may lead to an improved diagnosis and management of these conditions.  相似文献

Recent data indicate that random-like processes are related to the defects in the organization of semantic memory in schizophrenia which is more disorganized and less definable than those of controls with more semantic links and more bizarre and atypical associations. These aspects of schizophrenic cognition are similar to characteristics of chaotic nonlinear dynamical systems. In this context, the hypothesis tested in this study is that dynamic changes of electrodermal activity (EDA) as a measure of brain and autonomic activity may serve as a characteristic which can be used as an indicator of possible neural chaotic process in schizophrenia. In the present study, bilateral EDA in rest conditions were measured in 40 schizophrenic patients and 40 healthy subjects. Results of nonlinear and statistical analysis indicate left-side significant differences of positive largest Lyapunov exponents in schizophrenia patients compared to the control group. This might be interpreted that the neural activity during rest in schizophrenic patients is significantly more chaotic than in the control group. The relationship was confirmed by surrogate data testing. These data suggest that increased neural chaos in patients with schizophrenia may influence brain processes that can cause random-like disorganization of mental processes.  相似文献

Abnormal prefrontal functioning plays a central role in the working memory (WM) deficits of schizophrenic patients, but the nature of the relationship between WM and prefrontal activation remains undetermined. Using two functional neuroimaging methods, we investigated the neural correlates of remembering and forgetting in schizophrenic and healthy participants. We focused on the brain activation during WM maintenance phase with event-related functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). We also examined oxygenated hemoglobin changes in relation to memory performance with the near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) using the same spatial WM task. Distinct types of correct and error trials were segregated for analysis. fMRI data indicated that prefrontal activation was increased during WM maintenance on correct trials in both schizophrenic and healthy subjects. However, a significant difference was observed in the functional asymmetry of frontal activation pattern. Healthy subjects showed increased activation in the right frontal, temporal and cingulate regions. Schizophrenic patients showed greater activation compared with control subjects in left frontal, temporal and parietal regions as well as in right frontal regions. We also observed increased 'false memory' errors in schizophrenic patients, associated with increased prefrontal activation and resembling the activation pattern observed on the correct trials. NIRS data replicated the fMRI results. Thus, increased frontal activity was correlated with the accuracy of WM in both healthy control and schizophrenic participants. The major difference between the two groups concerned functional asymmetry; healthy subjects recruited right frontal regions during spatial WM maintenance whereas schizophrenic subjects recruited a wider network in both hemispheres to achieve the same level of memory performance. Increased "false memory" errors and accompanying bilateral prefrontal activation in schizophrenia suggest that the etiology of memory errors must be considered when comparing group performances. Finally, the concordance of fMRI and NIRS data supports NIRS as an alternative functional neuroimaging method for psychiatric research.  相似文献

Dysbindin (DTNBP1) is a recently characterized protein that seems to be involved in the modulation of glutamatergic neurotransmission in the human brain, thereby influencing prefrontal cortex function and associated cognitive processes. While association, neuroanatomical and cellular studies indicate that DTNBP1 might be one of several susceptibility genes for schizophrenia, the effect of dysbindin on prefrontal brain function at an underlying neurophysiological level has not yet been explored for these patients. The NoGo‐anteriorization (NGA) is a topographical event‐related potential measure, which has been established as a valid neurophysiological marker of prefrontal brain function. In the present study, we investigated the influence of seven dysbindin gene variants on the NGA in a group of 44 schizophrenic patients. In line with our a priori hypothesis, one DTNBP1 polymorphism previously linked to schizophrenia (rs2619528) was found to be associated with changes in the NGA; however, the direction of this association directly contrasts with our previous findings in a healthy control sample. This differential impact of DTNBP1 gene variation on prefrontal functioning in schizophrenic patients vs. healthy controls is discussed in terms of abnormal glutamatergic baseline levels in patients suffering from schizophrenic illnesses. This is the first report on a role of DTNBP1 gene variation for prefrontal functioning at a basic neurophysiological level in schizophrenic patients. An impact on fundamental processes of cognitive response control may be one mechanism by which DTNBP1 gene variants via glutamatergic transmission contribute to the pathophysiology underlying schizophrenic illnesses.  相似文献
