The uppermost Carboniferous–Lower Permian Dorud Group that crops out at the Gaduk section of Central Alborz is over 44 m thick and includes thick sequences of conglomerate, quartzarenite, calcareous sandstone, oncolitic fusulinid limestone, sandy limestone, sandstone and shale. The Toyeh, Emarat and Shah Zeid formations of this Group were dated as latest Gzhelian to Early Sakmarian. A review of the Asselian fusulinids and smaller foraminifers of Iran emphasizes (1) how the foraminiferal assemblages of Alborz and central Iran differ; (2) why non-Pseudofusulina cannot be a nomen substitutum to Pseudofusulina (even if this latter was often misinterpreted in the Tethyan regions). A new smaller fusulinid Pseudoacutella partoazari n. sp. is described from the Emarat Formation (Asselian) that crops out in the Gaduk area. The palaeobiogeographic significance of Pseudoacutella is discussed, because this genus, which was cosmopolitan from Late Bashkirian to Moscovian, became rare in the Upper Pennsylvanian of the USA and the Carnic Alps, and then, very rare in Lower Permian of Texas, Arizona and Iran.  相似文献

Shallow-marine limestones associated to a Palaeotethyan seamount in the Teke Dere unit of the Tavas Nappe (Lycian Nappes, SW Turkey) are essentially latest Moscovian-Kasimovian in age. The wide range of microfauna and -flora of the series show biogeographic affinities comparable to those from the northern Palaeotethyan borders (especially to assemblages from the Carnic Alps, Urals, Donbass and Darvaz). These biogeographic affinities seem to persist until the end of the Early Permian (Artinskian). The Middle Permian fauna is represented by the typical warm, tropical assemblages known at the same time in the Palaeotethys (NW Caucasus, Darvaz, south China, Primorie and Japan), and in the Neotethys (Transcaucasia, central Iran, southern Afghanistan and Sibumasu). The new Kasimovian algae and incertae sedis Novantiellopsis elliottii n. gen. n. sp., Uvanellopsis fluegelii n. gen. n. sp., Tubiphytes rauzerae n. sp. and Asselodiscus davydovi n. sp. are described.  相似文献

We report on a Late Miocene mollusc fauna from a single locality in the Denizli Basin in southwestern Turkey that is composed of ten presumably euryhaline species and three freshwater species. The fauna is remarkably distinct from faunas of the adjacent Late Miocene Aegean and Euxinian Basins, and has elements in common with the modern Caspian Sea fauna in the form of Didacna species. The suggested age of the fauna (Late Miocene) would extend the stratigraphic range of the lymnocardiid genus Didacna (hitherto Calabrian-Extant) considerably. The palaeobiogeographic significance of the Denizli fauna is discussed.  相似文献

Early Permian facies and paleogeography of the Southeastern Russian craton   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Summary During the Early Permian deep-water basins existed in the southeastern part of the Russian craton. North and west of the Cis-Ural foredeep and the Precaspian depression (micro-ocean) carbonate platforms were formed on a shallow-marine shelf during the Asselian, Sakmarian and Early Artinskian. Reefs developed on the margin of these platforms along the slopes of the Cis-Ural foredeep and the Precaspian depression. The reefs shifted platform ward in the eastern areas, due to the tectonic subsidence of the platform margin and at the same time, prograded basinward in the south. Movements of continental blocks from the south during the Late Artinskian and Kungurian caused the separation of the Early Permian basin of the Russian craton from the Palaeo-Tethys, followed by evaporite sedimentation in the restricted basins. The existence of source rocks (bituminous deep-water sediments), thick reservoir rocks (limestones and dolostones), evaporitic seals and structural as well as stratigraphic traps are responsible for large productive gas and oil fields (e.g., Orenburg field), some of which are distinctly associated with reef carbonates.  相似文献

New tetrapod footprints belonging to the ichnogenus Hyloidichnus have been discovered in Turkey for the first time, in the lower part of the Çakraz Formation (Northwestern Anatolia) and together with macrofloral imprints of Annularia and Stigmaria. These discoveries confirm the Permian age of the fossiliferous red beds in which the coniferophyte Walchia was previously recorded. Based on the stratigraphic range of Annularia, Stigmaria and Hyloidichnus known elsewhere, a Cisuralian age is proposed for these beds. These new ichno- and macrofloral remains, together with the sedimentological data (mudcracks, rain drops) suggest the presence of captorhinid reptiles living in a palustrine floodplain environment, and under a warm, seasonal climate alternating between humid and relatively long dry seasons. These climatic conditions may have permitted the migration of these captorhinids through Laurasia during the Permian.  相似文献

Studies on Early Permian tetrapod ichnofauna emphasized the scarcity of forms from Italian sites. A revision work on the entire collections revealed the presence of Hyloidichnus bifurcatus Gilmore, 1927 and Limnopus heterodactylus (King, 1845). The ichnoassociation now lists seven ichnogenera: Amphisauropus, Batrachichnus, Dromopus, Erpetopus, Hyloidichnus, Limnopus, Varanopus. These new data enlarge the ichnoceonosis, adding tracks of medium-size captorhinomorphs (Hyloidichnus) and temnospondyls (Limnopus) to the Italian ichnofauna, previously characterized by scarcity of predators and amphibians. Radiometric ages give a strong age constraint to the ichnoassociation (Early Kungurian), allowing useful correlations to contemporary successions all over the world. The main difference is the absence of Ichniotherium and Dimetropus, and this could have a stratigraphic or paleoenvironmental significance. The fauna is similar in two main basins, Collio and Orobic. It differs solely in the proportions between ichnotaxa, with a predominance of areoscelid traces (Dromopus) in the Collio Basin and of captorhinomorph traces (Erpetopus, Varanopus, Hyloidichnus) in the Orobic Basin. This datum could reflect slightly different environments, seasonal in the Collio Basin (alluvial plain) and more arid in the Orobic Basin (playa-like). The lack of some forms in smaller basins of the Athesian Volcanic Complex is probably due to a bias.  相似文献

An uppermost Mississippian (Serpukhovian) fossil flora from western Argentina is described for the first time. Its particular composition includes both, warm climate plants typical from the Pennsylvanian of Gondwana, namely pteridosperms, sphenophytes as well as arboreous lycopsids; and small lycopsids characteristic of cooler climates of pre-Serpukhovian times. A warm–temperate climate is inferred for this association, which fills a time gap between those Pennsylvanian and Mississippian classic floras previously known. The presence of Tomiodendron, Nothorhacopteris kellaybelenensis and Paracalamites allow the recognition of the Paraca Floral Realm in Argentina, supporting the existence of a nonglacial paleoclimate period, developed just before of the Bashkirian–Moscovian Gondwanan glaciation and after a latest Visean glaciation. It likewise would indicate the paleogeographic position of south west Gondwana, which would have acceded to a warm temperature latitudinal belt during Serpukhovian times. The recognition of this floral assemblage has relevant biostratigraphic and lithostratigraphic implications for the western margin of Gondwana. It defines a new zone for western Argentina, herein named Frenguellia eximia–Nothorhacopteris kellaybelenensis–Cordaicarpus cesarii (FNC) zone, which is recorded in the oldest known lithostratigraphic unit from the Paganzo Basin, the Loma de los Piojos Formation nom. nov.  相似文献

The palynological analysis of the Burdigalian (Early Miocene) successions of the Güvem Basin (NW Central Anatoia, Turkey) has been carried out with the aim of reconstructing the palaeovegetation. The pollen spectra indicate a flora dominated by trees such as Quercus deciduous type, Carya, Carpinus, Ulmus/Zelkova, Engelhardia, Quercus ilex type and Pinaceae. Pterocarya, Juglans, Alnus, Salix, Liquidambar and Oleaceae are represented by lower percentages. Herbs and shrubs are represented by minor amounts of Poaceae, Amaranthaceae/Chenopodiaceae, Asteraceae/Asteroideae, Brassicaceae, and the aquatics Potamogeton, Sparganium and Typha. The Burdigalian flora reflects a mixed mesophytic forest with Quercus deciduous type, Quercus ilex type, pine species, Ulmus/Zelkova, Engelhardia, Carya, Carpinus, Pterocarya, etc., sparcely interspersed with open herbaceous areas. This flora reflects a warm-temperate climate. The fluctuations in abundances of broadleaved trees and xerophytes may represent fluctuations of relatively wet and dry periods. The overall composition of the flora of the Güvem Basin reflects cooler conditions compared with other Early Miocene floras in Europe, which is possibly due to intense volcanic activity of the area.  相似文献

This work describes stage by stage the biostratigraphy of the Middle to Late Permian in Mexico and Guatemala. Roadian deposits are very poorly represented, as a consequence of tectonic movements at the end of the Kungurian/Leonardian stage. In fact Middle and Late Permian deposits are almost completely lacking in South Mexico and the whole Latin America, due to a probable climatic barrier. The main data concern the Las Delicias sequences from Coahuila, North Mexico, and the Mixteca Terrane, South central Mexico, with some precisions on the Wordian-Capitanian from Los Hornos (Puebla) and from Olinalá, Guerrero, respectively with the discoveries of Parafusulina sellardsi and Polydiexodina capitanensis. New data are provided on Capitanian mudmounds from Olinalá. A hypothetical reconstruction of the different terranes of Mexico at the Pangea stage, is finally presented.  相似文献

The Pennsylvanian stratigraphic section of the Manzanita Mountains (central New Mexico, USA) is restudied at Cedro Peak. This Pennsylvanian succession is divided into the Sandia Formation, Gray Mesa Fm, Atrasado Fm, and lower part of Bursum Fm. The sampled limestones of the Gray Mesa and Atrasado formations yielded three age-distinctive fossil assemblages: they are of (a) latest Atokan/early Desmoinesian, (b) late early Desmoinesian, and (c) middle Virgilian. The following new taxa of foraminifers are proposed: Endoteboidea n. superfam.; Spireitlinidae n. fam.; Millerellinae n. subfam.; Pseudonovella marshalli n. sp.; Pseudonovella ohioicus nom. nov.; Pseudoacutella n. gen.; Pseudoacutella hoarei nom. nov.; Plectofusulina manzanensis n. sp. Translated or emended names are: Staffelloidea, Ozawainelloidea, Ozawainellidae, and Profusulinellidae.  相似文献

The taxonomic revision of the carbonate microbiota of the limestone lenses intercalated into the Carboniferous siliciclastic series of Balia-Maden (Turkey) shows that most lenses are early or middle Brigantian in age (latest Visean), only a single lens being of younger age (late Serpukhovian). Calcareous microbiota are abundant in the Balia-Maden lenses carbonates. Microfacies analysis shows the dominance of shallow water environments. The Brigantian assemblage is accurately illustrated. The new foraminiferal taxon Cribrospira baliamadeni nov. sp. is morphologically similar to type-material of Cribrospira panderi von Möller, but has a porous wall with wider pores, almost keriothecal. C. baliamadeni nov. sp. corresponds to the misinterpreted Bradyina and Janischewskina of the previous literature on Balia-Maden lenses. These limestones show a great diversity of algosponges (carbonate microproblematica). Among them, (1) small, atypical Fasciella previously confused with Eosigmoilina; (2) an abundant form described for the first time, Frustulata reticulata nov. sp.; and (3) typical Falsocalcifolium punctatum (Maslov), important for the biostratigraphic implications, are also mentioned. The single Serpukhovian lens consists of a grainstone and contains the age-sensitive alga Archaeolithophyllum johnsoni Racz, and the foraminifers Monotaxinoides gracilis and Janischewskina sp.  相似文献

New findings of Late Paleozoic and Triassic bryozoans from the Tethys Himalaya are reported. Fifteen species, including three undetermined, were described, while determinations at order, family or genus level were obtained on fragmentary material. The studied bryozoans were framed in a solid lithostratigraphic scheme spanning across the Tethys Himalaya for over 1500 km, from NW India (Zanskar and Spiti) through Nepal (Dolpo and Manang) to South Tibet; they are concentrated in correlatable stratigraphic intervals corresponding to the Upper Devonian-Tournaisian, Bashkirian, Sakmarian, Midian and Lower Norian. This study allowed us to integrate bryozoan occurrences reported from the literature, mostly referring to the Tournaisian, Bashkirian and Early Norian, and to refine the available biostratigraphic dates. Bryozoan-rich intervals are interpreted as associated to long-term transgressions, in turn driven by major climatic and/or tectonic events. Cosmopolitan genera which prevail in the Paleozoic, are replaced by provincial forms after the Triassic crisis.  相似文献

Summary Diverse and abundant trace fossils of the deep-waterNereites ichnofacies have been found in well-dated Early Permian deep-water turbidites (Lercara Formation) of western Sicily (Italy). Conodonts indicate a latest Artinskian to Cathedralian (late Early Permian) age. Microfossils (pelagic conodonts, albaillellid Radiolaria, paleopsychrospheric ostracods, foraminiferal associations dominated byBathysiphon), trace fossils (deep-bathyal to abyssalNereites ichnofacies) and sedimentologic data collectively indicate a deep-water environment for the Early Permian turbidites of the Lercara Formation. The dominance ofAgrichnium and of thePaleodictyon subichnogeneraSquamodictyon andMegadictyon suggests that this icnofauna is closely related in ichnotaxonomic composition to other late Paleozoic deep-water ichnofaunas. The occurrence ofAcanthorhaphe. Dendrotichnium andHelicoraphe, to date only reported from Cretaceous or Tertiary flysch deposits, suggests that the entire ichnofauna corresponds well to previously documented Silurian-Tertiary flysch ichnofaunas. Eight new ichnospecies and a new ichnosubgenus,Megadictyon, are described.  相似文献

Located in the Central Anatolian Volcanic Province, Kaletepe Deresi 3 was discovered in the summer of 2000 and has been under investigation since that time. Volcanic activity in the region generated a number of obsidian intrusions that have attracted humans to the area throughout prehistory. The stratigraphic sequence at Kaletepe Deresi 3, more than 7 m in depth, presents a series of archaeological horizons representing the Lower and Middle Paleolithic. The site contains the longest open-air Paleolithic sequence excavated in Turkey, as well as the first in situ Acheulean industry documented in Anatolia. Tephras in the upper Middle Paleolithic horizons and the rhyolithic bedrock bracket the timespan represented at Kaletepe Deresi 3. The lithic industry at the site illustrates a wide range of technological behaviors and documents changes in raw-material exploitation and artifact manufacture through the Lower and Middle Paleolithic.  相似文献

Microfacies analyses performed on the latest Permian Wujiaping Formation at Laren (Guangxi Province, South China) show that the bioclastic-rich limestones of Late Permian age contain a rich and well-diversified foraminiferal fauna. This fauna is here revised in order to be compared with time-equivalent levels of southern Iran and southern Turkey. Some new and unexpected phylogenetic trends are highlighted among the biseriamminoids. The new or poorly known genera Retroseptellina, Septoglobivalvulina, Paraglobivalvulinoides, Dagmarita?, Bidagmarita nov. gen., Louisettita, Paradagmaritopsis nov. gen. and Paradagmarita? are concerned. Nevertheless, these newly appeared biseriamminoids are subordinate to abundant Tetrataxis and Climacammina, ultimate survivors of the families Palaeotextulariidae and Tetrataxidae, appeared as old as the Early Carboniferous (“Mississippian”). Algae, miliolids, and nodosarioids are poorly represented. Two genera and four species are here newly described: Globivalvulina curiosa nov. sp., Louisettita ultima nov. sp., Bidagmarita nov. gen., Bidagmarita sinica nov. gen. nov. sp., Paradagmaritopsis nov. gen., Paradagmaritopsis kobayashii nov. gen. nov. sp. The palaeogeographic distribution of these foraminifers is interpreted to be typically of Neo-Tethyan regions, ranging from southern Turkey (Hazro) to South China (Laren) and up to Japan for some species (i.e., Paradagmaritopsis). At Laren, Late Permian strata are generally characterized by Reichelina ex gr. simplex Sheng. Isolated samples of packstones, collected in Tsoteng region (Guangxi Province, South China), contain Sphaerulina sp. together with various smaller foraminifers and numerous representatives of the new species G. curiosa nov. sp. In this study we demonstrate that the regions of Zagros (Iran), Taurus (Turkey), South China and even Japan shared similar foraminiferal assemblages and represented intermittently connected palaeobiogeographic provinces during Late Permian times.  相似文献

Summary The Bombaso Formation and basal Meledis Formation in the central Carnic Alps near Straniger Alm and Zollnersee (Austria/Italy) unconformably overlie the folded Variscan basement and consist of shallow marine clastic and carbonate sediments which are arranged to form two fining and deepening upward sequences. Particularly limestones and even breccias of the Bombaso Formation yielded a rich fusulinid fauna composed of 34 species which are attributed to the following zones:Quasifusulinoides quasifusulinoides-Protriticites ovatus; Protriticites pseudomontiparus, andMontiparus montiparus. Breccias of the Bombaso Formation west of Straniger Alm contain the oldest fusulinid fauna of the Carnic Alps, belonging to theQuasifusulinoides quasifusulinoides —Protriticites ovatus zone. The fauna is composed ofQuasifusulinoides quasifusulinoides, Q. fallax, Q. intermedius, Protriticites cf.ovoides, andPr. ovatus. This assemblage is most similar to that of the Peskovskaya Formation of the Myachkovian Horizon in the Moscow Basin indicating uppermost Moscovian age. Limestones from depositional sequence 1 at Zollnersee also contain fusulinids of the uppermost Moscovian which are characterized by a more diverse assemblage:Schubertella donetzica, Fusiella lancetiformis, Beedeina ulitinensis, B. consobrina, B. nytvica, B. siviniensis, Quasifusulinoides pakhrensis, Q. fallax, Q. kljasmicus, Q. quasifusulinoides, Fusulinella rara, andProtriticites ovatus. Limestones and calcareous sandstones-siltstones of the basal Meledis Formation of depositional sequence 2 near Zollnersee and at Cima Val di Puartis are characterized by fusulinids of theProtriticites pseudomontiparus zone (Protriticites globulus, Pr. pseudomontiparus, Pr. sphaericus, Pr. rotundatus, Pr. ovoides, Pr. lamellosus, andPraeobsoletes burkemensis) and byMontiparus paramontiparus zone (Praeobsoletes pauper, P. burkemensis, Obsoletes timanicus, O. obsoletes, Montiparus paramontiparus, M. umbonoplicatus, M. montiparus, M. likharevi, M. rhombiformis andM. priscus) indicating lower to middle Kasimovian age (Krevyakinskian and Khamovnicheskian Horizons of the Russian Platform). New Megakhosaridae (Insecta: Grylloblattida) are described from the Permian of Russia: Ivakhosara pectinimedia gen. et sp. nov., Megakhosarina intricata sp. nov. and M. minuscula sp. nov. from the Lower Kazanian of Soyana (Arkhangelsk Region), M. magna sp. nov. from the Urzhumian of Chepanikha (Udmurtia), Kargalokhosara terraefossa gen. et sp. nov. from the Urzhumian of Kargala (Orenburg Region), and Alekhosara reticulata gen. et sp. nov. from the Severodvinian of Novo-Aleksandrovka (Orenburg Region).  相似文献

Summary Rugose corals are known from allochthonous Late Permian reefal blocks of the A1 Jil and Ba’id Formation (Hawasina Complex), Oman Mountains. In contrast to many Late Permian Rugosa found elsewhere in the Tethys, they occurred in sponge reefs and contributed to reef construction. The waagenophyllid warm water coral fauna is moderately diverse comprising cerioid, thamnasterioid, and fasciculate taxa. In contrast to sponges, chaetetids, and low-growing reefbuilders, the corals secreted diagenetically stable, most probably Mg-calcitic skeletons. Borings in coral skeletons are consequently well preserved providing important data for the interpretation of reef destructive processes. Thin-section analysis revealed three taxa of infaunal borers includingEntobia Bronn 1837, uncertain thallophyte borings, and borings of unknown bioeroders. Macroborers were more important than microborers, because of the dominance of clionid sponges. Good evidence exists also for the occurrence of two types of undetermined grazers which destroyed the coral surfaces. The amount and distribution of bioerosions is variable among different coral taxa. The fasciculate coralPraewentzelella regulare Flügel 1995 was the favorate substrate. Up to 33% of the calices were bored. Dendroid and compound corals were bored subordinately. Bioerosion of these colonies does not exceed 2%. There is good evidence for substrate preference amongst the borers. Major controlling factors affecting borer distribution are believed to be variations of skeletal density and gross morphology. The borer assemblage could not limit reef accretion significantly. Factors controlling boring activity might have been quality of substrate, sedimentation rate, rapid incrustation of substrates, and competition for food with reef constructors including sponges, chaetetids, and rugose corals.  相似文献
