Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of hospitalization especially in young children with respiratory tract infections (RTI). Patterns of circulating RSV genotypes can provide a better understanding of the molecular epidemiology of RSV infection. We retrospectively analyzed the genetic diversity of RSV infection in hospitalized children with acute RTI admitted to University Hospital Heidelberg/Germany between October 2012 and April 2013. Nasopharyngeal aspirates (NPA) were routinely obtained in 240 children younger than 2 years of age who presented with clinical symptoms of upper or lower RTI. We analyzed NPAs via PCR and sequence analysis of the second variable region of the RSV G gene coding for the attachment glycoprotein. We obtained medical records reviewing routine clinical data. RSV was detected in 134/240 children. In RSV-positive patients the most common diagnosis was bronchitis/bronchiolitis (75.4%). The mean duration of hospitalization was longer in RSV-positive compared to RSV-negative patients (3.5 vs. 5.1 days; p<0.01). RSV-A was detected in 82.1%, RSV-B in 17.9% of all samples. Phylogenetic analysis of 112 isolates revealed that the majority of RSV-A strains (65%) belonged to the novel ON1 genotype containing a 72-nucleotide duplication. However, genotype ON1 was not associated with a more severe course of illness when taking basic clinical/laboratory parameters into account. Molecular characterization of RSV confirms the co-circulation of multiple genotypes of subtype RSV-A and RSV-B. The duplication in the G gene of genotype ON1 might have an effect on the rapid spread of this emerging RSV strain.  相似文献

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is the most important cause of bronchiolitis and viral pneumonia in infants and young children. Approximately 100000 children are hospitalized in the USA each year as a result of RSV infections. During the research and development of subunit human Respiratory Syncytial Virus vaccines (hRSV), we have produced numerous synthetic peptides and recombinant proteins containing the four cysteines of the highly conserved central region of the G attachment protein. For several of these disulfide-containing peptides, all possible oxidized isomers were synthesized using various oxidation conditions and resulting in different ratios of isomers. Each isolated isomer was fully characterized by RP-HPLC, FZCE and ES-MS after purification by preparative RP-HPLC. The different cysteine pairings were unambiguously established after enzymatic digestion, LC-MS analysis and peptide microsequencing. These synthesis and analytical methods were developed for the characterization on one hand, of recombinant fusion protein BBG2Na which is currently being investigated in advanced clinical phases as a very promising vaccine candidate, and on the other hand, for peptides which were synthesized to be evaluated as conjugate vaccines or as immunochemical tools, after covalent coupling to carrier proteins. Furthermore, these studies allowed us to determine which of the different possible isomers was the most stable and probably the preferred form in native conditions. Finally, the different oxidation and analysis conditions, should be useful for disulfide pairing studies of other peptides and proteins having the same 'xCxxCxxxxxCxxxCx' framework, such as G proteins of non-human RSV strains, developed by other groups as veterinary vaccine candidates for example.  相似文献

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the major cause of acute lower respiratory tract infections in young children, but very little is known about its epidemiology and circulating genotypes in Pakistan. This study analyzed the epidemiological and molecular characteristics of RSV genotypes detected in Pakistani children less than 2 years of age with acute respiratory tract infections (ARIs) in a tertiary care hospital in Gilgit Baltistan (GB) province during 2011-12 winter season. RSV was detected in 75 out of 105 children presenting with acute respiratory infection. Male infants between 2-6 months age made up the highest percentage of RSV positive cases. Epidemiological factors such as pre-maturity, mean weight, clinical features and diagnosis when compared between RSV positive and negative groups were found to be statistically insignificant. Phylogenetic analysis classified all 75 of the RSV strains into 71 strains of subgroups A and 4 strains of subgroup B, respectively. Strains belonging to subgroups A and B were further subdivided into NA1/GA2 and BA, respectively. The nucleotide and deduced amino acid sequence identities were relatively high among these strains (>90%). Both RSV-A and RSV-B isolates had two potential N-glycosylation sites in HVR2 of G protein and with heavy O-glycosylation of serine and threonine residues (G scores of 0.5-0.7). This report highlights the significance of RSV as a dominant viral etiologic agent of pediatric ARIs, and need for continued molecular epidemiological surveys for early detection of prevalent strains and newly emerging genotypes to understand epidemiology of RSV infections in various regions of Pakistan.  相似文献

本研究为了解西藏地区儿童急性呼吸道感染中呼吸道合胞病毒(Respiratory syncytial virus,RSV)及基因型别。首先采用直接免疫荧光法检测2011年4~7月西藏自治区人民医院儿科病房因急性呼吸道感染住院患儿的鼻咽分泌物标本中7种常见的呼吸道病毒及人类偏肺病毒(Human metapneumovirus,hMPV)的抗原。然后对RSV抗原阳性的标本分别提取RNA,用逆转录-巢式聚合酶链反应法(Nest-PCR)确定RSV型别,同时用实时荧光PCR(Real-Time PCR)方法进行验证。再通过对G蛋白基因PCR扩增产物序列测定确定RSV的基因型。通过与GenBank中不同地区RSV分离株的G蛋白基因序列比对,了解西藏地区RSV G蛋白的结构特点及变异情况。结果表明,从167例标本中检测出呼吸道病毒抗原阳性的为65例,总阳性率为38.9%(65/167),其中RSV 45例,占阳性标本的69.2%(45/65),对其中42例RSV阳性标本进行了PCR分型,其中40例为A亚型,2例为B亚型。对7株A亚型RSV G蛋白基因PCR产物测序结果显示,全部为GA2基因型。西藏RSV与RSV原型株A2株核苷酸的同源性为90.7%~91.8%,氨基酸的同源性只有86.5%~87.2%。氨基酸的变异主要集中在胞外区一个高度保守序列的两端。7株西藏A亚型RSV G蛋白的核苷酸序列与GenBank中不同的RSV分离株相比同源性为90.7%~91.8%。西藏地区2011年春季小儿急性呼吸道感染的病毒病原主要为呼吸道合胞病毒,A亚型是2011年西藏地区的流行优势型别,其G蛋白胞外区基因具有较高的变异性。  相似文献

BALB/c mice sensitized to vaccinia virus expressed G protein of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) develop a Th2-type cytokine response and pulmonary eosinophilia when challenged with live RSV. In this study, BALB/c mice were immunized or challenged with an RSV mutant lacking the G and SH proteins or with DNA vaccines coding for RSV G or F protein. F or G protein DNA vaccines were capable of sensitizing for pulmonary eosinophilia. The absence of the G and/or SH protein in the infecting virus resulted in a consistent increase both in pulmonary natural killer cells and in gamma interferon and tumor necrosis factor expression, as well as, with primary infection, a variable increase in neutrophils and CD11b(+) cells. The development of pulmonary eosinophilia in formalin-inactivated RSV-vaccinated mice required the presence of the G and/or SH protein in the challenge virus. These data show that G and/or SH protein has a marked impact on the inflammatory and innate immune response to RSV infection.  相似文献

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a primary cause of morbidity and life-threatening lower respiratory tract disease in infants and young children. Children with acute RSV bronchiolitis often develop respiratory sequelae, but the disease mechanisms are poorly understood. Mounting evidence suggests that RSV may mediate persistent infection. Using immunohistochemistry to identify RSV and RSV-infected cell types, we show that RSV infects primary neurons and neuronal processes that innervate the lungs through a process that involves RSV G protein and the G protein CX3C motif. These findings suggest a mechanism for disease chronicity and have important implications for RSV disease intervention strategies.  相似文献

We identified several types of neutralization effected by F and G protein monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) reacted individually or as mixtures against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Neutralizing activity was identified by a microneutralization test in which virus replication was determined by enzyme immunoassay. Complete neutralization was seen only with MAbs against the F protein. Strain-specific neutralization, complete neutralization against some strains of RSV, and no neutralization against other strains were seen with an additional MAb against the F protein. Partial neutralization, virus replication significantly reduced but still present, and no neutralization were seen with MAbs against both the F and G proteins. Enhanced neutralization, enhanced efficacy of neutralization, or increased neutralizing titer with a mixture of two MAbs over that for the individual MAbs was seen with all MAbs against the F protein and all but three MAbs against the G protein. Most (10 of 13) of the MAbs that exhibited neutralizing activity reacted with some but not all strains of RSV in an enzyme immunoassay. The epitopes corresponding to these 10 MAbs probably contribute to the strain-specific component of the neutralizing antibody response to RSV. Our results suggest that interpretation of RSV neutralization with MAbs is complex and that studies of such neutralization should include mixtures of MAbs and multiple RSV strains.  相似文献

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the major cause of severe lower airway disease in infants and young children, but no safe and effective RSV vaccine is yet available. The difficulties involved in RSV vaccine development were recognized in an early vaccine trial, when children immunized with a formalin-inactivated virus preparation experienced enhanced illness after natural infection. Subsequent research in animal models has shown that the vaccine-enhanced disease is mediated at least in part by memory cells producing Th2 cytokines. Previously we had observed enhanced, eosinophilic lung pathology during primary infection of IFN-deficient STAT1(-/-) mice that are incapable of generating Th1 CD4(+) cells. To determine whether these effects depended only on Th2 cytokine secretion or involved other aspects of IFN signaling, we infected a series of 129SvEv knockout mice lacking the IFN-alphabetaR (IFN-alphabetaR(-/-)), the IFN-gammaR (IFN-gammaR(-/-)), or both receptors (IFN-alphabetagammaR(-/-)). Although both the IFN-gammaR(-/-) and the IFN-alphabetagammaR(-/-) animals generated strong Th2 responses to RSV-F protein epitopes, predominantly eosinophilic lung disease was limited to mice lacking both IFNRs. Although the absolute numbers of eosinophils in BAL fluids were similar between the strains, very few CD8(+) T cells could be detected in lungs of IFN-alphabetagammaR(-/-) animals, leaving eosinophils as the predominant leukocyte. Thus, although CD4(+) Th2 cell differentiation is necessary for the development of allergic-type inflammation after infection and appears to be unaffected by type I IFNs, innate IFNs clearly have an important role in determining the nature and severity of RSV disease.  相似文献

Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection is one of the leading causes of hospitalization in young children with acute respiratory illness. In this study, we prospectively collected respiratory tract samples from children who were hospitalized with acute lower respiratory tract infection in six hospitals in China from 2017 to 2019. HMPV was detected in 145 out of 2733 samples (5.3%) from the hospitalized children. The majority of HMPV-positive children were under the age of two (67.6%), with a median age of one year. HMPV can independently cause acute lower respiratory tract infection in young children, while all patients showed mild clinical symptoms. Of all the co-infected patients, HMPV was most commonly detected with enterovirus (EV) or rhinovirus (RhV) (38.0%, followed by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) (32.0%). The highest detection rate occurred from March to May in both northern and southern China. Out of 145 HMPV positive samples, 48 were successfully typed, of which 36 strains were subgrouped into subtypes A2c (75%), eight strains were included in subtype B1 (16.7%), and four strains were included in subtype B2 (8.3%). Moreover, 16 A2c strains contained 111-nucleotide duplications in the G gene. Twenty-seven complete HMPV genomes were successfully obtained, and 25 (92.6%) strains belonged to subtype A2c, whereas one strain was included in subgroup B1 and another was included in subgroup B2. A total of 277 mutations were observed in the complete genomes of 25 A2c strains. All results presented here improve our understanding of clinical characteristics and molecular epidemiology of HMPV infection in children.  相似文献

A maximum-likelihood analysis of selection pressures acting on the attachment (G) glycoprotein gene of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) from humans (HRSV) and bovines (BRSV) is presented. Six positively selected sites were identified in both group A and group B of HRSV, although only one site was common between them, while no positively selected sites were detected in BRSV. All positively selected sites were located within the ectodomain of the G protein and showed some association with positions of immunoglobulin (Ig) epitopes and sites of O-glycosylation. These results suggest that immune (antibody)-driven natural selection is an important determinant of RSV evolution and that this selection pressure differs among strains. The passage histories of RSV strains were also shown to affect the distribution of positively selected sites, particularly in HRSV B, and should be considered whenever retrospective analysis of adaptive evolution is undertaken. The design of attenuated vaccines for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) historically focused on viruses made sensitive to physiologic temperature through point mutations in the genome. These prototype vaccines were not suitable for human infants primarily because of insufficient attenuation, genetic instability, and reversion to a less-attenuated phenotype. We therefore sought to construct novel attenuated viruses with less potential for reversion through genetic alteration of the attachment G protein. Complete deletion of G protein was previously shown to result in RSV strains overly attenuated for replication in mice. Using reverse genetics, recombinant RSV (rRSV) strains were engineered with truncations at amino acid 118, 174, 193, or 213 and respectively designated rA2cpDeltaG118, rA2cpDeltaG174, rA2cpDeltaG193, and rA2cpDeltaG213. All rA2cpDeltaG strains were attenuated for growth in vitro and in the respiratory tracts of BALB/c mice but not restricted for growth at 37 degrees C. The mutations did not significantly affect nascent genome synthesis in human lung epithelial (A549) cells, but infectious rA2cpDeltaG virus shed into the culture medium was dramatically diminished. Hence, the data suggested that a site within the C-terminal 85 amino acids of G protein is important for efficient genome packaging or budding of RSV from the infected cell. Vaccination with the rA2cpDeltaG strains also generated efficacious immune responses in mice that were similar to those elicited by the temperature-sensitive cpts248/404 strain previously tested in human infants. Collectively, the data indicate that the rA2cpDeltaG strains are immunogenic, not likely to revert to the less-attenuated phenotype, and thus candidates for further development as vaccines against RSV.  相似文献

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the most frequent cause of lower respiratory disease in infants, but no vaccine or effective therapy is available. The initiation of RSV infection of immortalized cells is largely dependent on cell surface heparan sulfate (HS), a receptor for the RSV attachment (G) glycoprotein in immortalized cells. However, RSV infects the ciliated cells in primary well differentiated human airway epithelial (HAE) cultures via the apical surface, but HS is not detectable on this surface. Here we show that soluble HS inhibits infection of immortalized cells, but not HAE cultures, confirming that HS is not the receptor on HAE cultures. Conversely, a “non-neutralizing” monoclonal antibody against the G protein that does not block RSV infection of immortalized cells, does inhibit infection of HAE cultures. This antibody was previously shown to block the interaction between the G protein and the chemokine receptor CX3CR1 and we have mapped the binding site for this antibody to the CX3C motif and its surrounding region in the G protein. We show that CX3CR1 is present on the apical surface of ciliated cells in HAE cultures and especially on the cilia. RSV infection of HAE cultures is reduced by an antibody against CX3CR1 and by mutations in the G protein CX3C motif. Additionally, mice lacking CX3CR1 are less susceptible to RSV infection. These findings demonstrate that RSV uses CX3CR1 as a cellular receptor on HAE cultures and highlight the importance of using a physiologically relevant model to study virus entry and antibody neutralization.  相似文献

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide in children aged <5 years and older adults with acute lower respiratory infections (ALRIs). However, few studies regarding the epidemiology of hospitalizations for RSV infection have been performed previously in China. Here, we aimed to describe the clinical and epidemiologic characteristics of hospitalized patients with laboratory-confirmed RSV infection in eastern China. Active surveillance for hospitalized ALRI patients using a broad case definition based on symptoms was performed from 2009–2013 in 12 sentinel hospitals in eastern China. Clinical and epidemiologic data pertaining to hospitalized patients of all ages with laboratory-confirmed RSV infection by PCR assay were collected and analyzed in this study. From 2009 to 2013, 1046 hospitalized patients with laboratory-confirmed RSV infection were enrolled in this study, and 14.7% of patients had subtype A, 24.2% of patients had subtype B, 23.8% of patients with subtype not performed, and 37.3% of patients had RSV coinfections with other viruses. RSV and influenza coinfections (33.3%) were the most common coinfections noted in this study. Moreover, young children aged <5 years (89.1%, 932/1046), particularly young infants aged <1 year (43.3%, 453/1046), represented the highest proportion of patients with RSV infections. In contrast, older adults aged ≥60 years (1.1%, 12/1046) represented the lowest proportion of patients with RSV infections among enrolled patients. The peak RSV infection period occurred mainly during autumn and winter, and 57% and 66% of patients exhibited symptoms such as fever (body temperature ≥38°C) and cough separately. Additionally, only a small number of patients were treated with broad-spectrum antiviral drugs, and most of patients were treated with antimicrobial drugs that were not appropriate for RSV infection. RSV is a leading viral pathogen and a common cause of viral infection in young children aged <5 years with ALRIs in eastern China. Effective vaccines and antiviral agents targeting RSV are needed to mitigate its large public health impact.  相似文献

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) produces three envelope glycoproteins, the attachment glycoprotein (G), the fusion (F) protein, and the small hydrophobic (SH) protein. It had been assumed, by analogy with other paramyxoviruses, that the G and F proteins would be required for the first two steps of viral entry, attachment and fusion. However, following repeated passage in cell culture, a viable mutant RSV that lacked both the G and SH genes was isolated (R. A. Karron, D. A. Buonagurio, A. F. Georgiu, S. S. Whitehead, J. E. Adamus, M. L. Clements-Mann, D. O. Harris, V. B. Randolph, S. A. Udem, B. R. Murphy, and M. S. Sidhu, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 94:13,961--13,966, 1997). To explore the roles of the G, F, and SH proteins in virion assembly, function, and cytopathology, we have modified the full-length RSV cDNA and used it to rescue infectious RSV lacking the G and/or SH genes. The three resulting viruses and the parental virus all contain the green fluorescent protein (GFP) gene that serves to identify infected cells. We have used purified, radiolabeled virions to examine virus production and function, in conjunction with GFP to quantify infected cells. We found that the G protein enhances virion binding to target cells but plays no role in penetration after attachment. The G protein also enhances cell-to-cell fusion, presumably via cell-to-cell binding, and enhances virion assembly or release. The presence or absence of the G protein in virions has no obvious effect on the content of F protein or host cell proteins in the virion. In growth curve experiments, the viruses lacking the G protein produced viral titers that were at least 10-fold lower than titers of viruses containing the G protein. This reduction is due in large part to the less efficient release of virions and the lower infectivity of the released virions. In the absence of the G protein, virus expressing both the F and SH proteins displayed somewhat smaller plaques, lower fusion activity, and slower viral entry than the virus expressing the F protein alone, suggesting that the SH protein has a negative effect on virus fusion in cell culture.  相似文献

The cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) response is important for the control of viral replication during respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. The attachment glycoprotein (G) of RSV does not encode major histocompatibility complex class I-restricted epitopes in BALB/c mice (H-2(d)). Furthermore, studies to date have described an absence of significant CTL activity directed against this protein in humans. Therefore, G previously was not considered necessary for the generation of RSV-specific CTL responses. In this study, we demonstrate that, despite lacking H-2(d)-restricted epitopes, G enhances the generation of an effective CTL response against RSV. Furthermore, we show that this stimulatory effect is independent of virus titers and RSV-induced inflammation; that it is associated primarily with the secreted form of G; and that the effect depends on the cysteine-rich region of G (GCRR), a segment conserved in wild-type isolates worldwide. These findings reveal a novel function for the GCRR with potential implications for the generation of protective cellular responses and vaccine development.  相似文献

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the most common cause of serious lower respiratory illness in infants and young children worldwide, making it a high priority for development of strategies for prevention and treatment. RSV can cause repeat infections throughout life, with serious complications in elderly and immunocompromised patients. Previous studies indicate that the RSV G protein binds through a CX3C chemokine motif to the host chemokine receptor, CX3CR1, and modulates the inflammatory immune response. In the current study, we examined the contribution of CX3CR1 to the immune response to RSV infection in mice. CX3CR1-deficient mice showed an impaired innate immune response to RSV infection, characterized by substantially decreased NK1.1(+) natural killer, CD11b(+), and RB6-8C5(+) polymorphonuclear cell trafficking to the lung and reduced IFNγ production compared with those in wildtype control mice. Leukocytes from CX3CR1-deficient mice were poorly chemotactic toward RSV G protein and CX3CL1. These results substantiate the importance of the RSV G CX3C-CX3CR1 interaction in the innate immune response to RSV infection.  相似文献

It is essential that preventative vaccines for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) elicit balanced T-cell responses. Immune responses dominated by type 2 T cells against RSV antigens are believed to cause exaggerated respiratory tract disease and may also contribute to unwanted inflammation in the airways that predisposes infants to wheeze through adolescence. Here we report on the construction and characterization of recombinant RSV (rRSV) strains with amino acids 151 to 221 or 178 to 219 of the attachment (G) glycoprotein deleted (rA2cpDeltaG150-222 or rA2cpDeltaG177-220, respectively). The central ectodomain was chosen for modification because a peptide spanning amino acids 149 to 200 of G protein has recently been shown to prime several strains of na?ve inbred mice for polarized type 2 T-cell responses, and peripheral blood T cells from most human donors recognize epitopes within this region. Quantitative PCR demonstrated that synthesis of nascent rRSV genomes in human lung epithelial cell lines was similar to that for the parent virus (cp-RSV). Plaque assays further indicated that rRSV replication was not sensitive to 37 degrees C, but pinpoint morphology was observed at 39 degrees C. Both rRSV strains replicated in the respiratory tracts of BALB/c mice and elicited serum neutralization and anti-F-protein immunoglobulin G titers that were equivalent to those elicited by cp-RSV and contributed to a 3.9-log(10)-unit reduction in RSV A2 levels 4 days after challenge. Importantly, pulmonary eosinophilia was significantly diminished in BALB/c mice primed with native G protein and challenged with either rA2cpDeltaG150-222 or rA2cpDeltaG177-220. These findings are important for the development of attenuated RSV vaccines.  相似文献

Importance

RSV is a common illness among young children that causes significant morbidity and health care costs.

Objective

Routinely collected health administrative data can be used to track disease incidence, explore risk factors and conduct health services research. Due to potential for misclassification bias, the accuracy of data-elements should be validated prior to use. The objectives of this study were to validate an algorithm to accurately identify pediatric cases of hospitalized respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) from within Ontario’s health administrative data, estimate annual incidence of hospitalization due to RSV and report the prevalence of major risk factors within hospitalized patients.

Study Design and Setting

A retrospective chart review was performed to establish a reference-standard cohort of children from the Ottawa region admitted to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) for RSV-related disease in 2010 and 2011. Chart review data was linked to Ontario’s administrative data and used to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of algorithms of RSV-related ICD-10 codes within provincial hospitalization and emergency department databases. Age- and sex-standardized incidence was calculated over time, with trends in incidence assessed using Poisson regression.

Results

From a total of 1411 admissions, chart review identified 327 children hospitalized for laboratory confirmed RSV-related disease. Following linkage to administrative data and restriction to first admissions, there were 289 RSV patients in the reference-standard cohort. The best algorithm, based on hospitalization data, resulted in sensitivity 97.9% (95%CI: 95.5–99.2%), specificity 99.6% (95%CI: 98.2–99.8%), PPV 96.9% (95%CI: 94.2–98.6%), NPV 99.4% (95%CI: 99.4–99.9%). Incidence of hospitalized RSV in Ontario from 2005–2012 was 10.2 per 1000 children under 1 year and 4.8 per 1000 children aged 1 to 3 years. During the surveillance period, there was no identifiable increasing or decreasing linear trend in the incidence of hospitalized RSV, hospital length of stay and PICU admission rates. Among the Ontario RSV cohort, 16.3% had one or more major risk factors, with a decreasing trend observed over time.

Conclusion

Children hospitalized for RSV-related disease can be accurately identified within population-based health administrative data. RSV is a major public health concern and incidence has not changed over time, suggesting a lack of progress in prevention.  相似文献

Acute respiratory infections (ARI) caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) were studied in 482 children from Salvador, BA, Brazil, over a period of 12 months. The epidemic period of RSV infections in Salvador occurred from February (summer) to August (winter), with peaks in May, June, and July. The grouping characteristics of 84 RSV present in nasopharyngeal secretions of children seen at a reference university hospital were analyzed. RSV represented 17.4% of all cases and 54.5% of the positive samples. Sixty-four RSV strains were assigned to group A and 14 to group B. Both groups circulated in the five months of the epidemic period studied. Infections by both groups of RSV were more frequent in children up to one year of age. The incidence of RSV ARI was slightly more frequent in males, although group B had more infected females.  相似文献
