The soursop Annona muricata is an important fruit for national market, and for exportation, but the crop is affected by pests and diseases. The seed borer wasp Bephratelloides cubensis Ashmead is the pest that produces the highest damage to the crop in Mexico. Sixty percent of damaged fruits and 5-50 seeds per fruit have been registered, with 25% reduction in yield. In Nayarit, Mexico, 100% of damaged fruits were recorded. In this State, an experiment with soursop was conducted to study the life cycle under field conditions and to determine diurnal behavior of the female of B. cubensis. The highest activity of the wasp was observed between 12:00h and 13:00h (35oC, 54% RH and 409.34 luxes). Females oviposited in fruits with a diameter of 3.1-7.6 cm. Larvae of B. cubensis developed five instars, adults survived no longer than 22 days, and female survived longer than males; they lived 22 and 15 days, respectively. Life cycle of B. cubensis varied from 69 to 122 days.  相似文献

Comparative ultrastructure of ant spermatozoa (Formicidae: Hymenoptera)   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
Mature spermatozoa from spermathecae of founding queens were obtained from 5 species of ants, representing the major subfamilies Myrmicinae (Acromyrmex versicolor, Crematogaster sp.) and Dolichoderinae (Tapinoma sessile, Conomyrma insana, Conomyrma wheeleri). The ultrastructure of ant spermatozoa has many features in common with that of higher insects and is similar to that of other Hymenoptera. Structural similarities to spermatozoa of other Hymenoptera include an acrosome containing an internal rod that extends into the nucleus, two elongate mitochondrial derivatives, a centriolar adjunct, and an axonemal arrangement of 9 + 9 + 2 that includes well-developed coarse, or accessory, tubules. Spermatozoa obtained from A. versicolor, a species that is known to store and utilize viable sperm from this supply for over 10 years, show greater development of the mitochondrial derivatives than do the other species. The most distinctive feature of ant spermatozoa in comparison to other Hymenoptera is the large size of the centriolar adjunct relative to the other organelles. The centriolar adjunct is located posterior to the nucleus, anterior to the mitochondrial derivatives, and opposite the axoneme.  相似文献

Structure and Ultrastructure of the Spermatozoa of Trichogramma pretiosum Riley and Trichogramma atopovirilia Oatman and Platner (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae). —Acta Zoologica (Stockholm) 81 : 205–211 Spermatozoa of the Trichogramma pretiosum and T. atopovirilia are very slender and long, about 0.35 µm in diameter and 283 µm and 106 µm in length, respectively. Under light microscopy, they appear wavy along their entire length. The head contains a small acrosome which, together with the initial nuclear region is surrounded by an ‘extracellular sheath’, from which innumerable filaments irradiate. The nucleus is filled with homogeneous, compact chromatin and is attached to the flagellum by an electron dense centriolar adjunct, which extends anteriorly from the nuclear base. The flagellum consists of an axoneme with the 9 + 9 + 2 microtubule arrangement pitched in a long helix, as well as a pair of spiralling mitochondrial derivatives which coil around the axoneme. Based on these characteristics, the sperm of these Trichogramma are very similar to the chalcidoids studied to date and differ from non‐chalcidoid Hymenoptera. They differ widely from the sperm of T. dendrolimi and T. ostriniae studied, where no helically twisted structure is shown. However, based on these results we argue that the spiralling of the flagellar structures is a synapomorphy for Trichogrammatidae as well as for Eulophidae + Eurytomidae + Pteromalidae.  相似文献

Ten new species of the genera Eurytoma (8 species) and Tetramesa (2 species) from Yemen are described (Eurytoma lahji Zerova, E. thoraxica Zerova, E. cyrtophorae Zerova, E. longipes Zerova, E. yemeni Zerova, E. mabari Zerova, E. tibiaspinae Zerova, E. longitarsis Zerova, Tetramesa sanai Zerova, and T. rujumi Zerova). An account is given of the structure of the gaster and mechanism of the ovipositor in the females of the Eurytomidae. The histology and the possible functions of the components of the reproductive systems are described and its bearing on their phylogenetic relationships of the group discussed.  

Summary:


The female gastral sclerites and ovipositor mechanism in the Eurytomidae have a number of distinctive characters. Within the family there is a progressive evolution of a coiling of the ovipositor associated with accommodating a longer shaft within the abdomen. Each ovary has three ovarioles and the shape of the egg is constant. There are two pairs of colleteral glands, a well developed "venom" system and a distinctive spermatheca.
The family has affinities with the Torymidae and may be close to the ancestral chalcid stock.  相似文献

Using horizontal starch gel electrophoresis, ten enzyme systems were surveyed in ten populations of Tetramesa reared from eight species of grass collected from different sites in Britain. Eight species of Tetramesa were recognized on the basis of the number and relative mobilities of electromorph bands for larvae, pupae and adults. No differences were found between populations of T. hyalipennis (Walk.) reared from Elymus repens (L.) and E.farctus (Viv.) or between populations of T. eximia (Gir.) reared from Calamagrostis epigejos (L.) Roth and Ammophila arenaria (L.) Link. Experiments on mate-choice and host preference also supported the electrophoretic results for populations of T. hyalipennis and T. eximia.  相似文献

Abstract. 1. The dispersal of the gall-forming tephritid Urophora cardui L. (Diptera: Tephritidae) and its endoparasitoid Eurytoma serratulae Latr. (Hymenoptera: Eurytomidae) from an experimental colony were investigated over a period of 4 years.
2. The dispersal rate for both fly and endoparasitoid was one to two magnitudes higher than in previous studies, which found 100 m per generation maximally. The dispersal rate of the endoparasitoid was not less than that of its host. Most newly founded colonies were small and had high extinction rates.
3. The viability of colonies of U. cardui did not correlate with the distance from the dispersal centre.
4. The dispersal rates observed are high enough to allow a multiple spread and extinction in mid-Europe in the post-pleistocene period.  相似文献

A complex of the species related to Nikanoria mongolica Zerova is discussed. This complex includes a new subspecies (N. mongolica punctulata subsp. n.) and two new species (N. kazakhstanica sp. n. and N. sugonjaevi sp. n.). Data on the distribution and trophic associations of these species are provided. When the alfalfa [Bruchophagus roddi (Gussakovsky)], clover [Bruchophagus gibbus (Boheman)], and trefoil seed chaldds (TSC) [Bruchophagus platypterus (Walker)] were exposed to yellow, white, green, and purple painted polyethylene vials perforated by four small holes, only the latter species had a color preference, and that was for yellow, the color of its host flower. When TSC were exposed to green and yellow targets 5 h after sunrise, they preferred yellow targets but not 1 h after sunrise. The possibility of a circadian response was eliminated because different sequences of light-dark regimes prior to the test did not change the results. When TSC were exposed only to yellow targets, half of which had trefoil flowers hidden within, females preferred targets with flowers. When an identical test was conducted but with green instead of yellow targets, the preference for targets with flowers disappeared. In a four-choice test, TSC preferred yellow targets with or without flowers to green targets with or without flowers. Thus, TSC displayed an olfactory response only when the color yellow was present. In unfiltered skylight females preferred baited targets when the test began 3 h before or 1 h after solar noon but not 4 h before or 2 h after solar noon. Chalcids did display an olfactory preference 4 h before solar noon when a Polaroid filter was used to filter skylight and provide an east-west but not a north-south E-vector. When Helmholtz coils were used to apply a magnetic field that canceled or changed the direction of the earth's magnetic field, olfactory preference disappeared because the applied magnetic field changed TSC perception of the E-vector. In effect, TSC must perceive yellow in the presence of an east-west E-vector to display an olfactory preference to a choice of odors. We believe this is the first report that the E-vector of celestial light can influence olfactory and visual behavior of an insect.  相似文献

【目的】调查毛乌素沙地的一种群居独栖性野生毛足蜂Dasypoda hirtipes Panzer的巢穴结构及其日活动规律。【方法】采用目测和拍照等方法对沙地毛足蜂的整个筑巢过程进行了连续观测;采用挖掘、测量方法对毛足蜂巢内结构进行了观测。【结果】2008和2009年共挖掘巢穴22个,巢口直径为6.32~10.35 mm,巢穴具有多分枝的支道,一般有4~16个分支道,主道的深度为84~112 cm,巢室分布在主道周围的支道里面,每个支道里面仅有1个巢室,巢室深度为22~54 cm。巢室内壁无蜡层,较光滑,巢室内的花粉球底部有3个均匀大小的用来支撑花粉球的突起。对雌性成蜂日活动行为的观察结果显示,雌性个体一天内采集粉蜜的次数在6~8次,最后一次一般不携带花粉归巢。【结论】在内蒙古毛乌素沙地,该蜂一年1代,日活动时间与菊科植物抱茎苦荬菜Ixeris sonchifolia花序中的单花期相对应,主要的蜜源植物为菊科植物和蒺藜属植物。  相似文献

A light and electron microscopical survey of spermatozoan gross morphology and ultrastructure in the Hymenoptera is presented. Details are provided for the first time for members of the families Xyelidae, Argidae, Tenthredinidae, Diprionidae, Cephidae, Figitidae, Proctotrupidae, Diaprii- dae, Heloridae, Eurytomidae, Leucospidae, Perilampidae, Torymidae, Braconidae, Dryinidae, Sphecidae, Pompilidae and Vespidae. Spermatozoan length ranged from 8 μ m in some Braconidae to 500 μm in one chalcidoid. Considerable variation in gross morphology and ultrastructure were observed between taxa. Several phylogenetically informative characters were noted. Very small spermatozoa characterized most of the non-cyclostome subfamilies of Braconidae; spirally twisted axoneme and mitochondrial derivatives occur in the Eulophidae, Eurytomidae and Pteromalidae; spermatozoa with virtually indistinguishable head (nucleus and acrosome) regions characterized the Vespinae and Polistinae. The presence of well-developed spermatodesmata in the vas deferens and seminal vesicle characterize the Symphyta and were largely absent from other groups though they are occasionally present in some bees.  相似文献

Neotropical swarm-founding wasps, the Epiponini, are an outstanding group of social insects whose societies are polygynic and complex nest builders. Caste dimorphism in these wasps ranges from incipient to highly distinct. Morphometric analyses of nine body parts, ovarian status, relative age and development of the 5th gastral sternite gland (Richards' gland) of Polybia bistriata Fabricius were undertaken in order to estimate caste differentiation in nine colonies. Morphological and physiological data were used in multivariate analyses in order to evaluate the level of discrimination between inseminated and non-inseminated females. Clear physiological differences were found: queens had highly developed ovaries and they were inseminated, and workers had totally undeveloped ovaries or they had few developed oocytes (only in two colonies), but in both cases insemination was not detected. ANOVA and discriminant function analysis detected slight, but significant differences between castes. In relation to colony cycle, colonies were considered to be in the following stages: one in pre-emergence, four in worker production and four in sexuals production. Richards' gland analyses indicated that in small colonies (<100 females) queens had a less developed gland than in medium (100-200 females), and large colonies (>200 females). Taking the whole data, it was possible to conclude that caste differences were slight, but more evident in some phases of the colony cycle, a phenomenon previously described for other epiponines.  相似文献

Timulla oculata (Fabr.) is redescribed and ten nominal species of Oriental Timulla are placed in synonymy with it. Fourteen subspecies, including two new ones (T. oculata rosemariae subsp.n. and T. oculata timorensis subsp.n.), are recognised and keys to the subspecies are given. Geographic variation and the application of the polytypic species concept are discussed. The structure of the male genitalia of Timulla is related to dispersal strategies. The distribution and subspeciation of T. oculata is discussed in relation to the geological history of South East Asia and the Malay Archipelago.  相似文献

 The spermatozoa of Seison nebaliae are characterized by an elongated sperm body, a filiform nucleus, and an anteriorly inserting external cilium with a 9×2+2 axoneme pattern. In the sperm body a frontal, middle, and hind region can be distinguished. The frontal region contains an acrosomal vesicle, a perforatorium, a basal body, and a pair of apical dense bodies; an accessory centriole is absent. The middle region is characterized by several so-called filamental plates. One large mitochondrion and one pair of accessory tubular structures are located in the middle and hind region. The hind region also contains two rows of dense bodies. Accessory tubular structures and filamental plates are autapomorphies of S. nebaliae. The shared appearance of the dense bodies in spermatozoa of species of the taxa Seison and the Acanthocephala founds their sister-group relationship, while the anterior insertion of the cilium in the spermatozoa of these taxa and in the Rotifera confirms the monophylum Syndermata Ahlrichs, 1995. The potential for and ultrastructure of oosorption were examined in Eretmocerus eremicus, a short-lived whitefly parasitoid that obligately produces anhydropic oocytes. In the absence of hosts, median egg load decreased by approximately 12% per day between 2 days and 8 days following eclosion. Parasitoid mating status had no significant effect on either egg load alone or the relationship between egg load and age. Yolk degradation in E. eremicus is autolytic, with the enzymes required for yolk sphere digestion apparently being derived from within the ooplasm. The exochorion appear to be digested by the follicular epithelium concurrent with the uniform degradation of the entire ooplasm. The potential adaptive benefits of this novel oosorption mechanism to E. eremicus females include a reduction in the total digestion time per oocyte and resorption of chorion remnants. Finally, to our knowledge, the results of this study provide the first unequivocal ultrastructural evidence of a purely autolytic oosorption mechanism in Insecta.  相似文献

Five new species of chalcidoid wasps of the family Eurytomidae are described: four from Israel and one from Kazakhstan. Tetramesa pavliceki Zerova, sp. n. (cylindrica species group) is closely related to T. scheppugi Schlecht., but differs in the more elongate flagellar segments, longer genae, and smooth metasomal tergites. Eurytoma nevoi Zerova, sp. n. is similar to E. sabulosa Erd. and E. bicolorata Zer. (phragmiticola species group), differs from these species in the longer marginal vein, punctate propodeum, and longer flagellar segments. E. oreni Zerova, sp. n. belongs to the fumipennis species group. It is closely related to E. monticola Zer., but differs in the more convex scape, longer postmarginal vein, and yellow legs. E. simutniki Zerova, sp. n. belongs to the robusta species-group. It resembles E. heriadi Zer., but differs in the longer flagellar segments of the female and in the shorter postmarginal vein. Nikanoria mamayevi Zerova, sp. n. is similar to N. stigma Zer., but differs in the more elongate metasoma, longer flagellar segments of both sexes, and larger yellow spots on the pronotum.  相似文献
