Several lines of evidence from previous studies suggest that Calcium (Ca) and Magnesium (Mg) may be involved in intracellular and interneuronal processes associated with affective disorders. However, there have been inconsistent results on the effect of Ca and Mg on depressive mood disorder. This cross-sectional study was conducted to determine whether serum Ca and Mg levels, as well as serum Ca/Mg ratio, are associated with mental health in relatively healthy, adult women without psychiatric disorders. One hundred and twelve adult women were recruited from the outpatient clinic in a university hospital setting. Serum Ca and Mg levels were measured and indicators of mental health such as depression, anxiety, and stress were evaluated using two validated questionnaires; the Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale and the Modified Brief Encounter Psychosocial Instrument Stress Scale. After categorizing the serum Ca and Mg levels, and the Ca/Mg ratio into tertiles, the mean scores on each mental health scale were compared using analysis of covariance. The risk of depressive mood disorder according to the tertiles of serum Mg level and serum Ca/Mg ratio was assessed using logistic regression analysis. Women in the middle tertile of serum Ca/Mg ratio had significantly lower scores on depression and stress scales (p = 0.004 and p = 0.007, respectively) and a lower odds ratio (OR) for the risk of depressive mood disorder (OR = 0.31, CI95% 0.10–0.93) than those in the highest tertile. The OR for the risk of depressive mood disorder was higher in women in the lowest tertile of serum Mg than in those in the highest tertile (OR = 3.92, CI95% 1.11–13.83). Serum Mg level and serum Ca/Mg ratio may be involved in the mechanism for the progression of depressive mood or stress perception in relatively healthy, adult women.  相似文献

摘要 目的:探讨先天性心脏病(CHD)患儿介入封堵术治疗前后C-反应蛋白(CRP)、N末端B型利钠肽原(NT-proBNP)、心率变异性(HRV)的变化及与术后心功能的关系。方法:选择2020年10月至2021年6月在本院行介入封堵术治疗的95例CHD患儿为研究对象,采用化学发光法检测血清CRP水平,采用电化学发光免疫技术检测血清NT-proBNP水平,采用24 h动态心电图及12导联同步心电图分析HRV指标,观察手术前后患儿的血清CRP、NT-proBNP水平及HRV指标变化,比较术后不同NYHA心功能分级患儿的血清CRP、NT-proBNP水平和HRV指标,分析患儿术前血清CRP水平、血清NT-proBNP水平、HRV指标与术后NYHA心功能分级的相关性。结果:介入封堵术后患儿血清CRP、NT-proBNP、LF/HF水平逐渐降低,术后3 d、术后1个月时均低于术前,术后1个月时均低于术后3 d时(P<0.025);而TP、HF、LF、R-R、PNN50%、ASDNN、SDANN、SDNN、rMSSD水平逐渐升高,术后3 d、术后1个月时均高于术前,术后1个月时均高于术后3 d 时(P<0.025)。患儿术后3 d的血清CRP、NT-proBNP水平及LF/HF水平随着NYHA心功能分级的升高而升高,TP、HF、LF、R-R、PNN50%、ASDNN、SDANN、SDNN、rMSSD水平随着NYHA心功能分级的升高而降低(多有P<0.05)。患儿术后3 d的NYHA心功能分级与治疗前血清CRP、NT-proBNP及LF/HF水平呈负相关,与TP、HF、LF、R-R、PNN50%、ASDNN、SDANN、SDNN、rMSSD水平呈正相关(P<0.05)。结论:CHD患儿经介入封堵术治疗后,血清CRP、NT-proBNP及HRV指标变化明显,与术后NYHA心功能分级显著相关,血清CRP、NT-proBNP及HRV指标有望成为评估CHD患儿介入封堵术后预后的较敏感性指标。  相似文献

Aim

We investigated the relationships between the autonomic nervous system, as assessed by heart rate variability (HRV) and levels of N-terminal Pro-B-type Natriuretic Peptide (Nt-proBNP) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI).

Methods and Results

The mean of standard deviation of RR intervals (SDNN), the percentage of RR intervals with >50 ms variation (pNN50), square root of mean squared differences of successive RR intervals (rMSSD), and frequency domain parameters (total power (TP), high frequency and low frequency power ratio (LF/HF)) were assessed by 24 h Holter ECG monitoring. 1018 consecutive patients admitted <24 h for an acute MI were included. Plasma Nt-proBNP (Elecsys, Roche) was measured from blood samples taken on admission. The median (IQR) Nt-proBNP level was 681(159–2432) pmol/L. Patients with the highest quartile of Nt-proBNP were older, with higher rate of risk factors and lower ejection fraction. The highest Nt-proBNP quartile group had the lowest SDNN, LF/HF and total power but similar pNN50 and rMSSD levels. Nt-proBNP levels correlated negatively with SDNN (r = −0.19, p<0.001), LF/HF (r = −0.37, p<0.001), and LF (r = −0.29, p<0.001) but not HF (r = −0.043, p = 0.172). Multiple regression analysis showed that plasma propeptide levels remained predictive of LF/HF (B(SE) = −0.065(0.015), p<0.001)), even after adjustment for confounders.

Conclusions

In conclusion, our population-based study highlights the importance of Nt-proBNP levels to predict decreased HRV after acute MI.  相似文献

In this study, our hypothesis was that workplace noise can alter brain element levels like immobilization and light–dark cycle shift, and we aimed to investigate the effects of workplace noise on element levels of brain areas as well as changes in blood of chronically noise-exposed rats. Twenty-four rats were randomly divided into three groups. The first group was the control. The second group (noise exposed) was subjected to daily 8 h 85 dB workplace noise for 15 days, and the third group (noise exposed plus normal condition) was also subjected to the same noise exposure and then returned to normal condition for 15 days. In noise-exposed group, Na, K, Ca, Mg , Fe, Cu, and Zn levels in plasma significantly increased when compared with controls (p?=?0.03 for Na; p?=?0.005 for K and Mg; p?=?0.002 for Ca and Fe; p?=?0.01 for Cu and Zn). In this group, Fe level of temporal lobe significantly increased (p?=?0.021) while Mg level significantly increased in frontal (p?=?0.021) and temporal (p?=?0.001) lobes when compared with controls. In the noise-exposed plus normal condition group, plasma Na, K, Fe, Cu, and Zn levels were greatly similar to controls. But, plasma Ca and Mg levels significantly decreased when compared with controls (p?=?0.002 and p?=?0.007) and noise-exposed group (p?=?0.002 and p?=?0.001). Fe level of temporal lobe significantly increased when compared with controls (p?=?0.001) and noise exposed group (p?=?0.001). Zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu) are essential micronutrients involved in numerous metabolic reactions. They are also antagonists of the N-methyl-D-aspartate glutamate (NMDA) receptor in the central nervous system, which mediates mood, cognition, pain perception, and sleep. However, there have been few studies on the effects of Zn and Cu on sleep. A total of 126 adult women were recruited in this cross-sectional study. Zn and Cu levels in the serum and hair were measured for each subject. The participants completed the 7-day physical activity recall questionnaire and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. The mean hours of sleep were compared according to the tertiles of Zn, Cu, and Zn/Cu ratio in the serum and hair by analyses of covariance. BackgroundDecreased heart rate variability (HRV) is associated with adverse outcomes in cardiovascular diseases and has been observed in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We examined the relationship of HRV with SLE disease activity and selected cytokine pathways.MethodsFifty-three patients from the Oklahoma Lupus Cohort were evaluated at two visits each. Clinical assessments included the Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI), British Isles Lupus Assessment Group (BILAG) index, physician global assessment (PGA), and Safety of Estrogens in Lupus Erythematosus National Assessment-SLEDAI Flare Index. HRV was assessed with a 5-minute electrocardiogram, and the following HRV parameters were calculated: square root of the mean of the squares of differences between adjacent NN intervals (RMSSD), percentage of pairs of adjacent NN intervals differing by more than 50 milliseconds (pNN50), high-frequency power (HF power), and low frequency to high frequency (LF/HF) ratio, which reflects sympathetic/vagal balance. Plasma cytokine levels were measured with a multiplex, bead-based immunoassay. Serum B lymphocyte stimulator (BLyS) and a proliferation-inducing ligand (APRIL) were measured with an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Linear regression analysis was applied.ResultsBaseline HRV (pNN50, HF power, LF/HF ratio) was inversely related to disease activity (BILAG, PGA) and flare. Changes in RMSSD between visits were inversely related to changes in SLEDAI (p = 0.007). Age, caffeine, tobacco and medication use had no impact on HRV. Plasma soluble tumor necrosis factor receptor II (sTNFRII) and monokine induced by interferon gamma (MIG) were inversely related with all baseline measures of HRV (p = 0.039 to <0.001). Plasma stem cell factor (SCF), interleukin (IL)-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA), and IL-15 showed similar inverse relationships with baseline HRV, and weaker trends were observed for interferon (IFN)-α, interferon gamma-induced protein (IP)-10, and serum BLyS. Changes in the LF/HF ratio between visits were also associated with changes in sTNFRII (p = 0.021), MIG (p = 0.003), IFN-α (p = 0.012), SCF (p = 0.001), IL-1RA (p = 0.023), and IL-15 (p = 0.010). On the basis of multivariate linear regression, MIG was an independent predictor of baseline HRV after adjusting for plasma IL-1RA, SCF, IFN-α, IP-10, and serum BLyS. In a similar model, the sTNFRII impact remained significant after adjusting for the same variables.ConclusionsImpaired HRV, particularly the LF/HF ratio, is associated with lupus disease activity and several cytokines related to IFN type II and TNF pathways. The strongest association was with MIG and sTNFRII, expanding previous immune connections of vagal signaling.

摘要 目的:探讨冠心病患者动态心电图参数与血清甲壳质酶蛋白40(YKL-40)、潜在转化生长因子结合蛋白2(LTBP-2)水平的关系。方法:选取本院2020年3月至2023年4月154例冠心病患者纳入冠心病组(其中单支病变38例,双支病变57例,多支病变59例;Gensini积分评估冠状动脉狭窄程度包括轻度42例,中度60例,重度52例),另选择于本院进行健康体检者90例纳入对照组,所有纳入对象均接受动态心电图检查,并检测血清YKL-40、LTBP-2水平,分析冠心病患者动态心电图参数与血清指标的关系。结果:冠心病组24 h内全部正常心动周期的标准差(SDNN)、每5 min正常R-R间期标准差(SDANN)、相邻正常心动周期差值均方根(RMSSD)、相邻2个正常心动周期差值>50 ms个数百分比(PNN50)水平低于对照组,低频与高频功率之比(LF/HF)水平高于对照组(P<0.05);不同冠脉病变狭窄范围患者SDNN、SDANN、RMSSD、PNN50水平比较,多支病变<双支病变<单支病变,LF/HF水平比较,多支病变>双支病变>单支病变(P<0.05);不同冠脉病变狭窄程度患者SDNN、SDANN、RMSSD、PNN50水平比较,重度<中度<轻度,LF/HF水平比较,重度>中度>轻度(P<0.05);冠心病组血清YKL-40、LTBP-2水平高于对照组,且多支病变>双支病变>单支病变(P<0.05);不同冠脉病变狭窄程度患者血清YKL-40、LTBP-2水平比较,重度>中度>轻度(P<0.05);冠心病患者动态心电图参数SDNN、SDANN、RMSSD、PNN50水平与血清YKL-40、LTBP-2水平呈现负相关,LF/HF水平与血清YKL-40、LTBP-2水平呈现正相关(P<0.05)。结论:冠心病患者血清YKL-40、LTBP-2呈高表达,且其表达水平随冠脉病变狭窄范围和严重程度增加而升高,与动态心电图指标SDNN、SDANN、RMSSD、PNN50水平呈现负相关,与LF/HF水平呈现正相关。  相似文献

Background

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is associated with cardiovascular atherosclerosis independent of classical risk factors. This study investigated the influence of NAFLD on autonomic changes, which is currently unknown.

Methods

Subjects without an overt history of cardiovascular disease were enrolled during health checkups. The subjects diagnosed for NAFLD using ultrasonography underwent 5-min heart rate variability (HRV) measurements that was analyzed using the following indices: (1) the time domain with the standard deviation of N-N (SDNN) intervals and root mean square of successive differences between adjacent N-N intervals (rMSSD); (2) the frequency domain with low frequency (LF) and high frequency (HF) components; and (3) symbolic dynamics analysis. Routine blood biochemistry data and serum leptin levels were analyzed. Homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was measured.

Results

Of the 497 subjects (mean age, 46.2 years), 176 (35.4%) had NAFLD. The HRV indices (Ln SDNN, Ln rMSSD, Ln LF, and Ln HF) were significantly decreased in the NAFLD group (3.51 vs 3.62 ms, 3.06 vs 3.22 ms, 5.26 vs 5.49 ms2, 4.49 vs 5.21 ms2, respectively, all P<0.05). Ln SDNN was significantly lower in the NAFLD group after adjustment for age, sex, hypertension, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, body mass index, smoking, estimated glomerular filtration rate, HOMA-IR, and leptin (P<0.05). In the symbolic dynamic analysis, 0 V percentage was significantly higher in the NAFLD group (33.8% vs 28.7%, P = 0.001) and significantly correlated with linear HRV indices (Ln SDNN, Ln rMSSD, and Ln HF).

Conclusions

NAFLD is associated with decreased Ln SDNN and increased 0 V percentage. The former association was independent of conventional cardiovascular risk factors and serum biomarkers (insulin resistance and leptin). Further risk stratification of autonomic dysfunction with falls or cardiovascular diseases by these HRV parameters is required in patients with NAFLD.  相似文献

Background

Ganglionated plexuses (GP) are terminal parts of cardiac autonomous nervous system (ANS). Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for atrial fibrillation (AF) possibly affects GP. Changes in heart rate variability (HRV) after RFA can reflect ANS modulation.

Methods

Epicardial RFA of GP on the left atrium (LA) was performed under the general anesthesia in 15 mature Romanov sheep. HRV was used to assess the alterations in autonomic regulation of the heart. A 24???hour ECG monitoring was performed before the ablation, 2 days after it and at each of the 12 following months. Ablation sites were evaluated histologically.

Results

There was an instant change in HRV parameters after the ablation. A standard deviation of all intervals between normal QRS (SDNN), a square root of the mean of the squared differences between successive normal QRS intervals (RMSSD) along with HRV triangular index (TI), low frequency (LF) power and high frequency (HF) power decreased, while LF/HF ratio increased. Both the SDNN, LF power and the HF power changes persisted throughout the 12???month follow???up. Significant decrease in RMSSD persisted only for 3 months, HRV TI for 6 months and increase in LF/HF ratio for 7 months of the follow???up. Afterwards these three parameters were not different from the preprocedural values.

Conclusions

Epicardial RFA of GP’s on the ovine left atrium has lasting effect on the main HRV parameters (SDNN, HF power and LF power). The normalization of RMSSD, HRV TI and LF/HF suggests that HRV after epicardial RFA of GPs on the left atrium might restore over time.

目的观察五指山小型猪高脂血症模型的心脏自主神经功能的动态变化,探讨血脂异常对自主神经功能的影响和与昼夜的关系。方法利用高脂饮食诱发五指山小型猪高脂血症,造模后,每2周一次测定小型猪TG、TC、HDL-C和LDL-C和监测动态心电图,并进行24 h和昼夜心率变异性(HRV)分析,以评估小型猪的心脏自主神经功能。结果高脂饮食2周后五指山小型猪血清TC、HDL-C、LDL-C水平均显著升高(P〈0.01),TG水平亦在高脂饮食后6周显著升高(P〈0.05),其中,TC、LDL-C在高脂饮食0~4周时呈快速上升,在4~6周达到高峰,8~10周基本稳定并维持在一定水平;HDL-C在高脂饮食0~2周迅速上升并达到高峰,2~10周基本稳定。HRV参数分析结果,时域指标(RRI、SDNN、RMSDD、SDANN、PNN50、SDANN index、STV、LTV)和频域指标(VLF、LF、HF和TP)均渐进性显著降低(P〈0.05,P〈0.01),LF/HF升高(P〈0.05),夜间HRV参数变化程度均高于白天;相关分析显示HRV各参数与TC、LDL-C、TC/HDL-C、LDL-C/HDL-C具有显著的相关性(P〈0.05,P〈0.01),经多元线性逐步回归分析发现,SDNN与TC、LDL-C、TC/HDL-C、LDL-C/HDL-C比值的相关性依次为0.673、0.672、0.665、0.681。结论高脂饮食诱发五指山小型猪高脂血症的血脂异常可引起自主神经功能的下降和紊乱,自主神经功能的紊乱程度与高血脂状态的持续时间有关;血脂异常所致心血管疾病的危险程度夜间高于白天;HRV降低与TC、LDL-C、TC/HDL-C和LDL-C/HDL-C比值升高呈一定的依赖性,SDNN降低可作为预测高脂血症引发心血管病风险的独立相关指标。  相似文献

Background

Exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is associated with reduced heart rate variability (HRV), a strong predictor of cardiovascular diseases, but the mechanism is not well understood.

Objectives

We hypothesized that PAHs might induce systemic inflammation and stress response, contributing to altered cardiac autonomic function.

Methods

HRV indices were measured using a 3-channel digital Holter monitor in 800 coke oven workers. Plasma levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) were determined using ELISA. Twelve urinary PAHs metabolites (OH-PAHs) were measured by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.

Results

We found that significant dose-dependent relationships between four urinary OH-PAHs and IL-6 (all P trend<0.05); and an increase in quartiles of IL-6 was significantly associated with a decrease in total power (TP) and low frequency (LF) (P trend = 0.014 and 0.006, respectively). In particular, elevated IL-6 was associated in a dose-dependent manner with decreased TP and LF in the high-PAHs metabolites groups (all P trend<0.05), but not in the low-PAHs metabolites groups. No significant association between Hsp70 and HRV in total population was found after multivariate adjustment. However, increased Hsp70 was significantly associated with elevated standard deviation of NN intervals (SDNN), TP and LF in the low-PAHs metabolites groups (all P trend<0.05). We also observed that both IL-6 and Hsp70 significantly interacted with multiple PAHs metabolites in relation to HRV.

Conclusions

In coke oven workers, increased IL-6 was associated with a dose-response decreased HRV in the high-PAHs metabolites groups, whereas increase of Hsp70 can result in significant dose-related increase in HRV in the low-PAHs metabolites groups.  相似文献

Numerous observations suggest a possible connection between the levels of Mg, Zn, Fe, and Zn and the incidence of depressive symptoms. Depression is two to three times more common in women than in men. The menopausal period is extremely conducive to depressive disorders. The aim of this study was to assess the severity of depressive symptoms in postmenopausal women depending on the levels of Mg, Zn, Ca, Cu, and Fe. The study included 198 healthy postmenopausal women at the average age of 56.26 ± 5.55 years. In the first part of the study, standardized research tools were used, namely the Primary Care Evaluation of Mental Disorders (PRIME-MD) and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). The second part involved biochemical analysis of Mg, Zn, Ca, Cu, and Fe levels in blood serum. The lowest Cu levels were observed in women without depressive symptoms (1.07 ± 0.22 mg/l) and the highest in those with severe depressive symptoms (1.19 ± 0.17 mg/l), (p ≤ 0.05). The lowest Mg levels were observed in women with depressive symptoms (14.28 ± 2.13 mg/l), and the highest in women without depressive symptoms (16.30 ± 3.51 mg/l), (p ≤ 0.05). The average serum Mg levels (15.75 ± 3.23 mg/l) decreased compared to the reference values (18.77–24 mg/l). What is striking is a potential relation between the levels of Mg and Cu and depressiveness. Our results indicate to a higher vulnerability to depression in a group of women with lower levels of Mg and higher levels of Cu.  相似文献

Objectives: Elevated oxidative stress and reduced heart rate variability (HRV) is prevalent in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Previous studies have identified a positive association between elevated oxidative stress and autonomic dysfunction, however this relationship has not yet been investigated in the CKD population.

Methods: Plasma was collected from 78 patients with stage 3–4 CKD (estimated glomerular filtration rate 25–60?ml/min/1.73?m2) for the assessment of oxidative stress, including plasma total F2-isoprostanes, glutathione peroxidase activity and total antioxidant capacity. Time and frequency HRV parameters were measured from a three lead electrocardiogram.

Results: Participants with elevated F2-isoprostanes had reduced HRV compared to patients with normal levels of F2-isoprostanes. A number of HRV parameters were found to be inversely correlated with F2-isoprostanes in all CKD patients, including SDNN (r?=??0.337; P?r?=??0.281, P?=?0.01), LF (r?=??0.315, P?r?=??0.288, P?=?0.01). Multiple linear regression found F2-isoprostanes to be an independent predictor of SDNN (r2?=?0.287, β?=??0.272, P?=?0.01).

Discussion: Oxidative stress is significantly and independently associated with HRV in patients with CKD. Identifying oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of autonomic dysfunction may help target therapeutic strategies.  相似文献

BackgroundAir pollution has been associated with an increased risk of cardiopulmonary mortality and decreased heart rate variability (HRV). However, it is unclear whether coke oven emissions (COEs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are associated with HRV.ObjectivesOur goal in the present study was to investigate the association of exposure to COEs and the urinary metabolite profiles of PAHs with HRV of coke oven workers.MethodsWe measured benzene soluble matter, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, particulate matters, and PAHs at different workplaces of a coke oven plant. We determined 10 urinary PAH metabolites and HRV indices of 1333 workers using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry and a 3-channel digital Holter monitor, respectively.ResultsOur results showed that there was a significant COEs-related dose-dependent decrease in HRV, and an inverse relationship between the quartiles of urinary 2-hydroxynaphthalene and five HRV indices (ptrend<0.01 for all). After adjustment for potential confounders, elevation per interquartile range (IQR) (1.81 µg/mmol creatinine) of urinary 2-hydroxynaphthalene was associated with a 5.46% (95% CI, 2.50–8.32) decrease in standard deviation of NN intervals (SDNN). As workers worked more years, SDNN gradually declined in the same quartiles of 2-hydroxynaphthalene levels (ptrend = 1.40×10−4), especially in workers with the highest levels of 2-hydroxynaphthalene.ConclusionsOccupational exposure to COEs is associated with a dose-response decrease in HRV. In particular, increased exposure to 2-hydroxynaphthalene is associated with significantly decreased HRV. Increase of working years and exposure levels has resulted in a gradual decline of HRV.  相似文献

Ghrelin is a peptide hormone from the stomach, with an ability to release growth-hormone from the pituitary. Numerous cross-sectional studies indicate that ghrelin also has a role in metabolic abnormalities, such as metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes, but evidence for long-term effect is scarce. We investigated, whether ghrelin concentration measured in middle age would predict the development or absence of metabolic disturbances subsequently. Study population consisted of 600 middle-aged persons, and the follow-up time was approximately 21 years. Plasma total ghrelin concentration was measured at the baseline, and divided to tertiles. Numerous anthropometric and other clinical measurements (including blood pressure), and laboratory test were made both at the baseline and at the follow-up. After the follow-up the prevalence of high systolic blood pressure according to MetS IDF-criteria was the lowest in the highest ghrelin tertile, and the highest in the first (p < 0.03). When only subjects free of hypertension medication at baseline were considered, subjects belonging to the highest ghrelin tertile developed less new hypertension and high blood pressure according to IDF-criteria as well as medication for it during the follow-up (p < 0.05). Although serum insulin levels were negatively correlated to ghrelin levels at both points in time (p < 0.001 at baseline and p = 0.003 at follow-up), plasma ghrelin concentration did not predict the development of abnormalities in glucose tolerance. The association with ghrelin and metabolic syndrome was lost during the follow-up. In conclusion, our results suggest high ghrelin to be protective against the development of hypertension in the long-term follow-up.  相似文献

Calcium and magnesium that are associated with insulin resistance play an antagonistic role with each other in cells. This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between hair mineral concentrations and insulin resistance in Korean adult males. A total of 123 male subjects (63 patients with metabolic syndrome and 60 normal control patients) were recruited and fasting plasma glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, as well as HDL cholesterol levels, HOMA-IR, and hair mineral concentrations were measured. The ratio of calcium/magnesium in hair showed a significantly positive correlation with the HOMA-IR (r?=?0.191, P?=?0.038) and insulin (r?=?0.198, P?=?0.031). The result of multiple regression analysis after adjusting the age also showed a significant correlation of the Ca/Mg ratio with HOMA-IR (R 2?=?0.115, P?=?0.047). The hair chromium concentration was lower in the metabolic syndrome group than in the control group, and it showed a significantly negative correlation with the fasting blood glucoseand the triglyceride. The result of this study showed that insulin resistance increased as the ratio of Ca/Mg increased, or as the chromium concentration in hair decreased.  相似文献

Alkali metals (AMs) and alkali earth metals (AEMs) affect levels and signaling of neurotransmitters, which potentially play a role in the etiology of schizophrenia (SCZ). The current case-control study aims to explore how AMs [i.e. Potassium (K), sodium (Na), rubidium (Rb), cesium (Cs)] and AEMs [i.e. magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba)] in serum could associate with SCZ. One hundred and five inpatients with SCZ and 106 age- and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from Weifang, China. Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES) was used to evaluate serum concentrations of Na, K, Ca, Mg and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) was for Rb, Cs, Sr, Ba. Subjects with SCZ had significantly higher Mg and Sr serum concentrations than HCs (20.86 vs. 19.73 μg/mL of Mg, p < 0.001; 53.14 vs. 42.26 ng/mL of Sr, p < 0.001). After adjusting for confounders, the odds ratio of Mg and Sr remain significantly higher in the SCZ group (Mg: OR = 2.538, 95 % CI: 1.254–5.136, p=0.010; Sr: OR = 3.798, 95 % CI: 1.769–8.153, p = 0.001). No significant differences between SCZ subjects and HCs were observed for other AMs and AEMs. Higher serum concentrations of Mg and Sr were associated with SCZ. Studies are suggested to find the related mechanisms and provide clues for pathogenesis of SCZ, which would impact prevention and treatments of SCZ.  相似文献

Phytosterol intake with natural foods, a measure of healthy dietary choices, increases plasma levels, but increased plasma phytosterols are believed to be a coronary heart disease (CHD) risk factor. To address this paradox, we evaluated baseline risk factors, phytosterol intake, and plasma noncholesterol sterol levels in participants of a case control study nested within the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) Spanish cohort who developed CHD (n = 299) and matched controls (n = 584) who remained free of CHD after a 10 year follow-up. Sitosterol-to-cholesterol ratios increased across tertiles of phytosterol intake (P = 0.026). HDL-cholesterol level increased, and adiposity measures, cholesterol/HDL ratios, and levels of glucose, triglycerides, and lathosterol, a cholesterol synthesis marker, decreased across plasma sitosterol tertiles (P < 0.02; all). Compared with controls, cases had nonsignificantly lower median levels of phytosterol intake and plasma sitosterol. The multivariable-adjusted odds ratio for CHD across the lowest to highest plasma sitosterol tertile was 0.59 (95% confidence interval, 0.36–0.97). Associations were weaker for plasma campesterol. The apolipoprotein E genotype was unrelated to CHD risk or plasma phytosterols. The data suggest that plasma sitosterol levels are associated with a lower CHD risk while being markers of a lower cardiometabolic risk in the EPIC-Spain cohort, a population with a high phytosterol intake.  相似文献

Inflammation is associated with the development of atherosclerotic vascular lesions and some inflammatory parameters are used as cardiovascular (CV) risk markers. The present study was designed to assess the predictive power of interleukin (IL)-6 for future CV events. In 121 Japanese patients with multiple CV risk factors and/or disease, serum concentrations of IL-6 and high sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) were measured. During follow-up periods (mean, 2.9 years) after the baseline assessment, 50 patients newly experienced CV events such as stroke/transient ischemic attack (n=10), heart failure hospitalization (n=6), acute coronary syndrome (n=7), and revascularization for coronary artery disease (n=15) and peripheral arterial disease (n=12). The serum level of IL-6, but not hs-CRP, was significantly higher in patients who had CV events than in event-free subjects (3.9±2.6 and 3.0±2.2 pg/mL, P=0.04). When the patients were divided into three groups by tertiles of basal levels of IL-6 (<1.85, 1.85-3.77, and ≥3.77 pg/mL), cumulative event-free rates by the Kaplan-Meier method were decreased according to the increase in basal IL-6 levels (65%, 50%, and 19% in the lowest, middle, and highest tertiles of IL-6, respectively; log-rank test, P=0.002). By univariate Cox regression analysis, previous CV disease, creatinine clearance, and serum IL-6 levels were significantly associated with CV events during follow-up. Among these possible predictors, the highest tertile of IL-6 was only an independent determinant for the morbidity in the multivariate analysis (hazard ratio 2.80 vs. lowest tertile, P=0.006). These findings indicate that IL-6 is a powerful independent predictor of future CV events in high-risk Japanese patients, suggesting its predictive value is superior to that of hs-CRP.  相似文献

Inflammatory activity, heart rate variability (HRV), and biochemical and functional indices were assessed in young ski racers during the preparation, competition, and recovery periods of an annual training cycle. During the preparation period, autohemodilution (decreased red blood cell count (RBC) and hematocrit (Ht) levels) and a decrease in the systemic inflammatory activity (C-reactive protein) occurred, without significant differences in the HRV or serum protein and lipid profile. During the competition period, the systemic inflammatory activity increased by 50% (p = 0.047), eliminating differences from the control group, and the HRV indices (SDNN, HF, TP, and IT) decreased (p ≤ 0.013), indicating an increase in the sympathetic effects on the HRV. During the recovery period, hematological indices (Ht and RBC), inflammatory activity, and fibrinogen levels decreased, and the parasympathetic effects on the heart increased. These findings allowed us to conclude that mental and physical activation led to a moderate increase in the systemic inflammatory activity and a shift in the sympathovagal balance towards increased sympathetic activity, providing a nonspecific contribution to the physiological regulation of biochemical (lipoproteins and immunoglobulins) and hematological indices in the athletes. However, similar changes in many biochemical and hematological indices in both groups during the year indicated the important role of a common, probably seasonal, factor in the regulation.  相似文献
